Absolutely the BEST!

I first found out about Sue’s wedding cakes when she made my friend’s. I fell in love. The following year my sister got married and I insisted we get the wedding cake from Sue. It was amazing! Two years later it was my turn. I had to have Sue make my cake. Each cake was a little different but no less delicious and beautiful. Flash forward 5 years and Sue just made my 5 year anniversary cake. My husband and I loved our wedding cake so much, we always said we’d indulge again on our 5 year anniversary. I was so happy that Sue was still in business. Best of all, she made the cake to look just like my wedding cake! Her attention to detail and commitment to customers is what sets her apart. I will always refer people to Sue!

If you're looking for a cake in the Grand Rapids area, don't go anywhere else. Sue is a small business owner who puts everything into her cakes. She is extremely knowledgeable and personable and really works to get to know her clients and provide them with the cake of their dreams. My husband and I were let down by several vendors, and needed to find someone nearly last minute... and all while planning from out of state. Sue met with me the day after I contacted her and we were so pleased with our tasting. She delivered the cake and set it up beautifully. It was PERFECT! It was gorgeous and we had so many compliments on it. Thank you, Sue!

Sue was absolutely wonderful! We ended up having to change venues a couple different times and each time she was still willing to work with us. The cake was gorgeous and tasted amazing! All of our guests were telling us how moist and delicious the cake was. I would highly recommend Sue to anyone looking for a wedding cake. She knows her stuff and cares deeply about the cakes she makes. Super affordable as well.

This was a dream come true. I was originally going to do sheet cakes because I couldn't afford a Tier cake but I ended up getting a 4 tier wedding cake for the SAME price as sheet cakes. And the cake was GORGEOUS. Everyone at my wedding was talking about it. Sue is the sweetest woman and is so flexible and easy to work with. She dropped the cake off at my reception hall and did all the setup. The lights, tulle and cake stand are all included as well. It was absolutely gorgeous! I highly recommend Sue!

Cakes by Sue in Grand Rapids MI was outstanding . The cake was delicious and just what we wanted! We were planning a wedding from out of state and didn't have to worry about anything with cakes by Sue. The Wedding cake was DELICIOUS !!!!!

Sue is truly amazing. She exceeded our expectations AND was within our budget!! We never imagined having a cake so gorgeous!

We met her at her location and she sat down and showed us hundreds of cakes!! She was so patient! When we finished looking at the pictures, she let us design our own!!! We literally had 7 different cake pictures that we wanted to combine to create our special cake! She even let us choose how to present the cake (I.e. what serving tray it gets displayed on). Not only was our cake stunning but it was DELICIOUS!! We went with the white chocolate frosting with a chocolate cake with chocolate mouse and raspberry drizzle!! SO GOOD! I'm not a cake person--but WOW! AMAZING! She was one the cheapest vendors too! I would recommend her to anyone!! I have shared her link on my Facebook page many times because she impressed us that much!

Our cake cutting services (provided by the reception hall) accidentally threw out some of her cake accessories which we gladly paid a TINY fee for-- she was so apologetic for making us pay. I think she apologized at least 8 times for charging us. We had no problem paying her to reimburse her for what was thrown out!!! She truly is the sweetest person ever and truly CARES about each customer. Her cakes will make your special day that much more perfect.

Very easy to work with. When we did the tasting we tasted frosting only-not cake flavors and I thought that was odd but I put my faith in Sue and everything was amazing. So many compliments on our cake. We had a three tier cake with the first two tiers being carrot cake, and the top tier being a marble with a raspberry mouse filling. We have yet to try and the top tier but I am so excited to do so on our one year! She was so kind and sweet. We rented a cake stand and some tulle and lighting to go along with the cake decor from her which she delivered at the reception venue and we provided the flowers to decorate the cake-I thought we were going to end up decorating it ourselves but she did it all for us!

When almost every guest at the reception comments how wonderful the reception is and then follows that comment with the question..."Who did your cake?"...you know you have found something special. Quite honestly, the cake had everyone ohhhing and ahhhing! No one had ever seen a cake as beautiful.

I planned the wedding from 700 miles away. Sue was very easy to work with...I did not have any strong opinions about what I wanted the cake to look like and left it to the professional. Her design exceeded my expectations. While the cake was beautiful to look at...it tasted wonderful as well...her attention to detail and display were greatly appreciated. I would use her again in a minute!

Im so glad after 5 other tastings I finally found Sue. My first impression was that she is very kind and very professional. What really impressed me was she had live cake displays for you to look at instead of just pictures. She has an amazing vision and my husband and I were so wowed by our wedding cake. We got lots of compliments on how delicous the cake was. I would recommend Sue for any event especially your wedding because I know you wont be disappointed.

Sue made us a beautiful and delicious cake, everyone commented on how great the cake tasted, some guests even asked for a second piece! She was easy to get a hold of and very accommodating, she made our wedding very special, thank you Sue! I would highly recommend your cake!

I got so many compliments on how beautiful and delicious the cakes were. I only regret that I didn't get to have more. Even our last minute design changes came off flawlessly. The birchbark design was beautiful with the pinecones and the price was amazing. I am especially impressed with Sue's ability to find us blueberry filling. It was great and made it all the more special.

We called & left a message with Sue & she returned our call, answered our questions, & set up an appointment. She was very accommodating as we are from California and got married in Grand Rapids, MI. We had some ideas for both our wedding & grooms cake & Sue designed both exactly as we had envisioned! At our appointment, we tasted the different icings & fillings to help decide what we wanted. Our cakes were gorgeous & delicious! We had so many guests tell us how much they loved the cake & the price was so affordable. She even decorated the whole cake table beautifully & included some origami penguins we had made. We highly recommend Cakes & Crafts By Sue! Favorite vendor at our wedding! Everyone raved about how delicious the cake was and it was absolutely stunning - even prettier than the picture I gave her of what I wanted it to look like. I tried a lot of cakes from a lot of Grand Rapids and Holland bakeries and they were all dry but Sue's cake is very fresh - which was super important to me. I would definitely recommend Cakes by Sue.

The overall experience with Cakes by Sue was excellent. She planned things well in advanced and communicated to us very well. She did a phenomenal job designing our cake and delivered it on time. When we got to our reception venue we were so stunned on how great it looked. The price of her cakes are less than half of what vendors from wedding shows would charge. You will not find a better bang for your buck!

We loved Sue! It's obvious that this is not only her job, but her passion! We had to change the size of the cake a few weeks shy of the wedding and she was so great about it! We had so many compliments on both the looks and taste of our cake. You won't be disappointed!

The cake not only looked amazing, but everybody was saying how much they enjoyed eating the cake as well. My husband and I couldn't even make ourselves save the whole top layer for our one year... we just had to eat it now! (we only froze two pieces.)

Absolutely the best! Sue is fabulous at what she does. EVERYONE raved over the cake. She was on time, professional, and best of all the cake was moist and delicious. So fresh! We gave out boxes of cake to take home and many ate the second piece while at the wedding they loved the cake so much. Cake was absolutely beautiful, she matched the flowers my daughter had picked out perfectly with the design & ribbon on the cake. Also the cake tasted great, she had a lot of options to pick from for cake flavors, fillings and frostings. Great price as well - $1.50/slice. Does not do cupcakes. The presentation of the cake was beautiful as well, she displayed it on a mirrored tray on top of a silver pedestal stand with tule & lights.

Ms. Sue is the kindest, most sweetest, professional person you will ever meet! Her cakes are delicious and beautifully decorated. Ms. Sue operates her business out of her gorgeous home, which makes her prices affordable for brides who are on a tight budget like I was. She is polite, affordable, and extremely professional. I was able to taste every thing that went into the cake, from the fondant, to the delicious chocolate filling. It was a joy to work with her, and I look forward to working with her again, for my next big event. Sue was the only vendor who could meet with us on a weekend (we live out of town and so do the bride and groom!) The cake was absolutely delicious and THE most reasonably priced! We ordered extra cake so each of our 200 guests was served a very nice sized piece. The leftover cake was enjoyed for several days after we returned home...it traveled well and was still deliciously moist! The white cake with strawberry filling was perfect...thank you Sue! I highly recommend you meet with her;)

Thank you Sue for such a beautiful cake! I planned our wedding from the other side of the state and Sue was an absolute blessing to work with! She had excellent ideas and captured the theme of our wedding exquisitly! I can not thatnk and reccommend Sue enough! Our cake was the talk of the party and was so gorgeous we didnt want to cut into it! Her prices are way too low for such amazing work!!!! I was very pleased with my wedding cakes from Sue. I had a wedding cake and a grooms cake and she did a fantastic job and it was the best red velvet cake that I have ever tasted. Sue was a pleasure to work with. She even called me the day of, since some of our beads were falling off of our cake, to see if I wanted her to come wrap ribbon around the cake because she wanted to make sure I was happy with it. I was very happy and since it was 94 degrees outside, some beads were falling off but not a lot and it still looked gorgeous. I would recommend Sue to anyone needing cake services!

As far as I'm concerned, my wedding cake from Sue was the best cake in the history of all cakes! I could not have been happier with it, and I'm grateful she was willing to take on such a HUGE project (It must have been almost 5 feet tall). The cake was beautiful, delicious, and even taller than I'd hoped for. Not to mention, an extremely good value. It's been 12 days and I'm eating the leftovers now that we're back from our honeymoon--and it's still delicious.

The cake was beautiful. Perfect! It was a delightful traditional style with a touch of update--with roses and hydranga. She offers beautiful stands to place the cake upon. The best part was the feeling that "our" cake was special to her and that she was excited to make it for us and make us happy. Thank you SUE!

Sue, you made my daughter's wedding cake for her July 21 wedding. I have to say that it was beautiful and delicious. We had many great compliments on the look and taste! Jamie lives in Florida and I live about 2.5 hours away from you, however, you worked with both of so well. Jamie had only a limited time in Michigan before the wedding and you were so wonderful to accomodate her on her limited visit in Grand Rapids. I would recommend you to anyone who is looking for a cake! You were absolutely wonderful! Thank you...

Sue did such an amazing job! I came to Sue with a vision of how I wanted our cake to look and she captured it perfectly! Not only did it look amazing, it tasted awesome! I was a bride planning my wedding 5 hours away, and Sue made it easy to communicate and always kept me informed. I even changed my cake size a week before the wedding and Sue made the change with no issues. The day of the wedding, Sue dropped the cake off at the reception venue and waited for the florist to get there (1.5 hrs wait) and put the fresh flowers on the cake...she wanted to make sure my vision was captured! Thanks Sue!!!

I absolutely loved my wedding cake! It looked so beautiful and elegant and I loved how Sue really listened to what I had to say about the vision I had for my cake! I was a little nervous about not trying it at the tasting (she has you taste her fondant and fillings, but not the actual cake in order to keep costs down). Don't let that discourage you from going with Sue. I can assure you that her cake tastes amazing!!! It was probably the best wedding cake I have ever had! I highly recommend her!!

Sue did an excellent job on our cake and cupcakes. We had so many complements how how good it all was. Everything looked so great and she was so professional. I wish I could give her a 10/5 for value. Her prices are incredible for what you get and VERY reasonable travel/set up fee. Everything was perfect!

Our wedding cake tasted GREAT! Sue was so nice to work with. She was very helpful and professional, and you could tell that she was passionate about her job. Her prices are half of what you might pay at other cake places. The wedding cake she made for us was absolutely beautiful!!!!

My daughters wedding was Saturday evening. I just have to say that Sue did an amazing job. When we sat down with her a few months ago to decide on the cake we wanted, she was patient with us and knew exactly what my daughter wanted ..I can tell you that when I walked into the reception venue and saw her cake..I was literally speechless! It was so beautiful and looked just like my daughter had asked it to look like. Then the best part was eating it! It was moist and the frosting was light and delicious! I think it was the best cake I have ever tasted. We received many compliments and I have already given her name out. You can't go wrong with Sues Cake's..she if a very talented lady!

Sue just did our wedding cake in October and did a fantastic job. The cake was perfect and was exactly what I envisioned. Sue's close attention to detail made our cake look flawless and beautiful, not too mention how good the cake itself was. We had red velvet cake and it was the best I've tasted---the frosting was too die for! Thanks Sue for all your hard work and always getting back to me when I had a new idea!

Sue is such a talented woman. Her cakes are delicious and she is such a sweetie. She is very easy to work with and can take the image right out of your head and create it in real life. Her cakes are very reasonably priced and highly recommend the butter cream white cake with chocolate mousse inside it's so good it'll melt your face off! Ha! I would definitely recommend her, and if I ever need a beautiful cake in the future I will use her.

My husband and I are not from the Michigan area, so finding vendors was very time consuming! We found Sue through Wedding Wire and were extremely satisfied with every aspect in working with her.
She is very sweet, accommodating, organized, affordable and most importantly makes an incredible wedding cake!! My parents had to eat one of each flavor it was that good! My mom still, to this day, keeps asking me how she can get more of that cake. Unfortunately, we live 5hrs away from Sue:'(.
She is also very good about making exactly what you want. Just give her a picture and tell her when it needs to be where and your done. She took away any stress I may have had! Thank you for everything Sue! Mandy & Jeff

My husband and I used Cakes and Crafts by Sue for our wedding last Friday, and our cake turned out absolutely perfect!! Not only did it look just how I had hoped it would, it also tasted phenomenal! I am by no means a cake-lover, but I do love Sue's cake. Most people are hesitant to eat fondant because of it's consistency and flavor, but Sue's fondant genuinely tastes delicious and is not gummy... It's actual one of my favorite parts of the cake. From our very first meet with Sue until our wedding day, Sue was a pleasure to work with. She was very responsive to emails and phone calls, and she made the cake portion of the wedding planning process as easy for us as possible. I would recommend Cakes and Crafts by Sue to anyone!

My wedding was this past weekend, and Sue made the best wedding cake I have ever tasted! I am not a big frosting lover, but the frosting she introduced me to was called "better creme" and it was so light, it was wonderful!! The cake was moist and everyone commented on how wonderful it tasted. The cake was decorated so pretty it matched exactly to my expectations. Sue was very easy to work with and she made sure that my cake was awesome! I will recommend her to anyone who asks!!

I could not have been happier with my wedding cake! It was beautiful and delicious. Sue was wonderful to work with, always responded quickly and was very accommodating. I am pretty indecisive, so I changed my mind on the design a few times and she made me feel it was no problem. Did I say the cake was delicious... because it was amazing! Sue, thank you so much for the wonderful job you did on my daughter’s shower cake in June. It was beautiful and tasted wonderful. After that day, I knew we had no worries for the wedding cake. The fresh flowers I had left with you for the wedding cake had wilted and you took the time to go to the florist’s and get fresh ones for us. I can’t thank you enough for that. Sue made us the most beautiful Wedding Cake, it was so moist it melted in your mouth. So many guests complimented on how good it was. Sue was very easy to work with and you could tell she really cared about making our day a Happy One. I would recommend her to make your day a Special One also.

We have enjoyed Sue's cakes at a variety of functions. The cake she made for our daughter's wedding was incredible. It was a beautiful rolled fondant cake that was delicious as well. Sue is always so accomodating with our requests and very creative with pulling our ideas together into something wonderful. She made a very busy event less stressful by going above and beyond with her services.

Cakes by Sue are awesome. I recently got married in June of 2011 and she made two cakes for our wedding. Our main cake was a beautiful three tiered cake. I really enjoyed the process with Sue as I was basically able to design my own wedding cake and it definitely turned out to be a masterpiece!!! It was marble cake with raspberry filling, buttercream frosting, with the fondant frosting on the top. Each layer was decorated just the way I wanted! The taste of the cake was absolutely delicious! We also had a grooms cake made by Sue and it was also very delicious. She made my husband a U of M cake and it too turned out to be a masterpiece and he was so happy! Every guest at our wedding complimented the cakes...saying that they were the best wedding cake they had ever tasted. I would definitely recommend Cakes by Sue to anyone looking for a beautiful and delicious wedding cake. Also great price!

Sue was GREAT to work with. She is very flexible and really cares about what you want and will do everything she can to make you happy. We had done cupcakes and a small cake for us to cut at our wedding and it tasted and looked great! I would definitely recommend her to anyone!

We just had our wedding two weekends ago, but people are still talking about our delicious cake! Sue literally made the EXACT cake I had envisioned.
It was just beautiful. Our cake tasted so amazing! We received an unbelievable amount of compliments on how delicious, moist and fluffy our cake was!
We had some left over so the morning following our wedding we served it at our brunch and everyone was so excited to have a chance to eat another piece!
Sue's set up was beautiful and and the cake tasted even better!

Sue was great!! She was very flexible and worked with us to make the cake filling with blueberries from the family farm. The cake tasted delicious and was a big hit with our guests. The decoration was exactly what we had talked about, and we were very impressed with her fondant (absolutely edible and actually tasted good). Sue even made two small cupcakes for my sister (our wedding coordinator) at no extra charge, after I told her my sister doesn't like fruit in cake (we had lemon cake with blueberry filling). She had worked with our caterer previously, and they both recommended each other, so that was a plus!

Our cake was beautiful. It was everything we were looking for, it tasted amazing, and we got quite a bit of compliments from our guests. She is extremely helpful, and affordable.

Sue did a phenomenal job on our wedding cake! I loved meeting with her for our tasting, and was reassured after looking through hundreds of photos that our dessert would look just as amazing as it tasted! It turned out even more beautiful than I had imagined! She may be operating out of her home, but she is extremely professional overall. She is BY FAR the cheapest I have EVER seen for cake services in Michigan ($388 for 160 servings, 4 tier, 2 flavor, mousse and filling, fondant decorations, etc.), and better than the vast majority of cakes I have tasted in my lifetime. We are so thankful we found her for our special day.

I am very particular in the way I want things done, and when I tell someone how I want something -- I expect it that way. Control freak comes to mind, and I was scared to see how the cake was going to turn out out because I wasn't doing it myself. I took a deep breath and a leap of faith and got the perfect cake, just how I wanted it exactly. Sue was wonderful to work with, very friendly, and listened to what I wanted. She made suggestions but didn't push me into anything. I asked for a lot of almond flavoring in the cake and frosting and she did it, everyone at the wedding loved it, said it tasted great and wanted to know who made it. She made me look good because I did most everything else for my wedding and it blended in perfectly.
If it wasn't for Sue and the great value pricing I would never have been able to have the cake of my dreams for my wedding. I had tried several bakeries and they wanted twice the price and I wasn't going to get the rolled chocolate on it that makes cakes look so smooth. She did a taste test with the different frostings and fillings which really helped us decide on what worked best for us.
The only reason I didn't give a perfect score is, I would have liked to been able to do more tasting of the cake with the flavor options and the frosting we chose. We would have know exactly how it was going to taste on our day, but I understand she can't do everything a normal bakery can and keep the cost down.
Sue is very laid back and easy to work, as well as very talented. I highly reccomend her for any cake - her work is awesome!! And tastes great!!

Sue was awesome! And the cake she made us was absolutley beautiful! I went to her just 2 weeks before the wedding with no idea of what I wanted and she had tons of pictures and models to show me. She helped me pick out an awesome cake and it was delicious too! Only downfall was how expensive it was, but I have learned everything in the wedding business is very expensive. Overall we were very happy with our cake :)

Sue is such a nice lady and made us a beautiful cake. However, we paid for around 150 servings and because it was so crumbly our caterer who often works with Sue only got around 99 servings according to what my mother was told. The cake was beautiful and very affordable. Would recommend but know that perhaps your cake will be dry.
