Cafe O'Lei were absolutely amazing!! They catered our wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House. Our appetizers during cocktail hour were fantastic - we had coconut shrimp, mini grilled brie & bacon, chicken and waffles, and veggie samosas. My husband and I had to go get sunset photos during cocktail hour, but one of the servers rushed after us with a beautiful plate with 2 of each appetizer so we could try them all. We felt so taken care of!
Our buffet dinner offered macadamia nut crusted chicken, beef tenderloin with mushroom sauce, and mahi mahi with lilikoi butter. All of it was incredibly delicious!! So many of our guests went for seconds, and so many of them complimented us on the food! They also served special meals to our vegan guests, which they said were fantastic. Their servers were so kind and attentive.
As foodies, hiring Cafe O'Lei was one of the best decisions for our wedding!! -

Cafe O Lei provided an exceptional dining experience at our wedding! For cocktail hour appetizers, we got Coconut Shrimp and Chicken Satay. They were winners! All guests loved these choices! For dinner, we
had on three options: the macadamia crusted Mahi mahi, Chicken, and Eggplant. They were beautifully plated and perfectly portioned. Hammered silver flatware was Cafe O Lei’s “standard” but for us, it definitely seemed like an upgraded detail! Their plated service during the ceremony was on point! We had so many compliments of the taste, quality, and presentation. Thank you Cafe O Lei! We can’t wait to go back to see you at Mill House!

We were unable to schedule a formal wedding tasting with Café O Lei prior to our big day, but we were able to enjoy an evening at one of their restaurants on the island during one of our visits leading up to our wedding. Our wedding planner arranged for us to meet with their catering captain and event manager. The food was amazing and they were both able to ease my mind regarding dietary restrictions and allergies. The team easily accommodated having an entirely gluten free evening with passed appetizers and plated dinners. Guests really enjoyed their food, and the staff was professional and very polite. -

When our coordinator sent us menus to look through we knew we wanted a buffet style wedding. We liked the idea of the food being available for guests to choose between. Cafe O'Lei had an INCREDIBLE buffet menu with so many different options. I have been to many weddings and let me tell you, the food is never something I am awe struck about just because it's never absolutely amazing but when guests raved about our wedding in the days after, the first things out of their mouths were "Oh my gosh the food was AMAZING!" etc. I was SO happy to hear this. I knew it was amazing since I ate it as well but hearing that from guests is a huge plus. You know they ate well and that is a big bonus because you are throwing this party! Cafe O'Lei's set up was beautiful. The servers were so lovely and kind. The appetizers we chose were different and to die for with flavor. The chef made sure we had food packed up to eat when we got home. They were all such lovely people and we so appreciated everything they did for us! We chose the Hawaiian Luau Buffet. It was EXCEPTIONAL. If you are getting married on Maui- choose Cafe O'Lei- they will not disappoint. We didn't even taste test first and had full confidence in them. We chose WELL. Thank you Cafe O'Lei! -

Highly recommend Cafe O' Lei! We did a buffet at our wedding and chose each food option. The food was amazing. All of our guests were raving about it. Some guests even went to the restaurant again after the wedding for more. Thank you!! -

Our guests could not stop raving about the food at our wedding! I could have eaten oy the appetizers and been happy, but when the main entrees came out I was wowed even more! We had the fillet and macadamia crusted mahi mahi and both were out of this world! The food was fantastic and the service was just as fantastic too! Highly recommend!! -

Edith Sent on 03/18/2017Our wedding planner booked with Cafe O'Lei so we didn't look up the restaurant beforehand. Based on the tasty food and super friendly staffs on our wedding day we'd strongly recommend this restaurant, especially if you want to try something local. For appetizers we had garlic crostini, Kalua pork canapé, chicken satay, and crispy calamari. They were really thoughtful in saving us some appetizers while we were away taking pictures so we didn't miss those amazing calamari. We had a Hawaiian style buffet with green salad, somen noodle (a must-try), mani-mahi, chiken, pork, steak, stir-fried vegetables and some of the best sweet potatoes I've ever had (from Molokai). Most of our guests were first-timers to Hawaii and they were very interested in local food after our reception ;) -

We had the braised short ribs(huge yummy serving size which was awesome), macadamia nut crusted chicken (yum), and the salmon (yum again). The appetizers (calamari, hummus, chicken satay) were very appetizing and delicious. All in all, outstanding work all around and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect caterer to help celebrate our wedding day! -

Kimberly Sent on 07/06/2015We used Cafe O'Lei Catering for our wedding reception with 70 people. The food was so delicious and we received many comments from guests about it blowing other "wedding" food out of the water. We had pulled pork, marinated chicken and mac nut fish as our main dishes with several fresh and beautiful salads and sides. The passed appetizers were fun and filling. Presentation was beautiful and the provided more than enough food for us.
The catering team also provided special platted meals for two guests with dietary restrictions and were thoughtful enough to save the bride & groom a seperate platter of the passed appetizers, just in case we missed out while busy greeting our guests. That was really awesome and unexpected! I want to redo the day just so I can eat more! -

Gregory Sent on 02/17/2013We were so lucky to have chosen Cafe O'Lei for our wedding. We love their food in the restaurants and visit them each time we are on Maui. We were a little nervous about having them cater our wedding at Olowalu, but there was no reason to be nervous - the food is amazing and the service was outstanding. Trust the reviews - our guests are still talking about the food months later.
Regarding the service of Cafe O' Lei: we wish there as a 10 to select!!!
On the day of our wedding and approximately 40 mins before the ceremony - a huge gust of wind blew 1/2 of the dining tent over with all tables, chairs and service settings crashing to the ground (approximately 50 place settings). Place settings and glasses SHATTERED all over the ground at the wedding site. Needless to say - Dana and her team were AMAZING. They quickly worked with the wedding coordinators to reset (AND STAKE) the tents, tables and get new settings and glasses for the wedding. We were only an hour delayed and it was the sweetest gift anyone could have asked for. Dana and her team were calm and reassuring as they recovered the entire wedding.
I love them and would hire them for any event! You will love them too. -

My guest are still talking about the food and how great it was. I had the hawaiian buffet and it was wonderful. -

We had a tasting about a year before our wedding at Cafe O'Lei at The Dunes at Maui Lani. We met Dana there, and she was absolutely fabulous--so friendly and engaging. Not to mention the food, which was amazing! Since then, we communicated through email, and Cafe O'Lei was very responsive and organized. We had some last minute questions about desserts, and Dana was really helpful over the phone. Cafe O'Lei is also very flexible in terms of menu changes.
On the wedding day, their service was fabulous. We had a buffet dinner, and the servers were kind enough to get me and my husband food, since we were busy with photos and saying hi to everyone. They even boxed up a couple of meals for us at the end (since we still hardly had time to eat!).
Very highly recommended! I would definitely hire Cafe O'Lei again. -

Melissa Sent on 12/07/2015Cafe O'Lei was fantastic! We set up a tasting ahead of time and they really treated us like royalty. The food was wonderful. It really was important to me that we source as much locally as possible for our menu and they featured so many local farmers! They were really great with our guests who had allergies. My sister is allergic to peanuts, tree-nuts and sesame, so it was very critical that the entire menu had none of that! They also were great providing gluten free meals to some of my guests as well. Everything was great! -

Sydney Sent on 06/23/2011Cafe O'Lei was wonderful! Donna the company owner was sweet, professional, and made us feel important. The food is to die for! We opted for 3 passed appetizers (coconut shrimp, lettuce wraps, and crabcakes) the island salad with papaya seed and Lilikoi vinaigrette, and then filet of beef or mac crusted mahimahi with bread and mashed potato's. We did a scouting trip and tasted numerous restaurants, we really liked Food For The Soul, Stella Blues, and Cafe O'Lei. We negotiated prices with all three and Cafe O'Lei gave us the lowest price so we went with them! They were our number one choice too because they do so many weddings we thought they really know what they are doing and everything went without a hitch pretty much! The only disappointment was we were supposed to get Okinawan Sweet Potato's (which are purple) and instead got regular potato's so very minor mix up. Overall, they are pricey but great! -
