A Great Experience and Fantastic Cake!

We got our wedding cake through Buzz Bakeshop, and we are so glad we did! The Buzz team was very communicative throughout the process and responsive to our questions. We appreciate that they let us choose complementary cupcakes with flavors of our choosing to test different wedding cake options. The cake itself was exactly as we had in mind, and it was delicious! We would highly recommend Buzz Bakery.

Great bakery!

Buzz provided the wedding cake for my and my husband’s reception, and we could not have been happier with it! I’ve actually been going to Buzz for years, so I knew early on I wanted them to provide the cake for my wedding. They provided us with a beautiful coconut cake with raspberry buttercream filling and vanilla frosting, and my sister-in-law, who’s a professional baker, even commented on how delicious it was! My only regret was not saving a piece to take home for me and my husband before our guests devoured it!

A Cake We Won’t Forget

When we first tasted the samples for Buzz’s cakes, we knew we had to have them at our reception. In fact, we were unable to pick a favorite and served two separate flavor combinations (lemon cake with blackberry frosting, vanilla cake with caramel frosting). The team at Buzz kept excellent communication throughout the process and even incorporated our color palette into their decoration. When asked if we wanted to save the top of our cake, we said we didn’t need to because we will be going back to Buzz a lot sooner than our first anniversary.

Best cupcakes ever

We picked Buzz Bakery because they were the site of our first date, but also because of their amazingly delicious cupcakes, and because the price point was perfect for our 60 person wedding. We ordered 90 cupcakes, and only had about a dozen leftover at the end of the night. They were a huge hit!

Aamzing cake and cupcakes

We had a dessert bar at my daughters wedding and had the Gluten Free wedding cake ( small for bride and groom) and cupcakes made by Buzz Bakery. Oh my gosh were they delicious. They delivered to our venue for a small fee and it was worth everything.

When we first started looking for cakes I had no idea how much they would cost and had budgeted $1,000 for our wedding of 85 guests. So you can imagine how excited I was when Buzz offered cakes for less than $400! Not only were they extremely affordable, they had the most amazing flavors! It was quite a difficult decision as their lemon, carrot cake, and devils food were all to DIE for! We ended up choosing their Cookie Monster - a chocolate chip cake with a layer of cookie dough and an oreo buttercream - for one flavor and a devils food with a salted caramel buttercream as the other! Both flavors were extremely fresh and moist and didn't have that defrosted taste that wedding cakes usually have. The cake was gorgeous and designed beautifully and we could not have been more pleased. I would recommend Buzz to any bride/groom and also to anyone looking for a birthday cake or just somewhere to grab a cupcake!

We purchased our mini wedding cupcakes in three flavors: carrot cake with cream cheese icing, devil's food with Italian buttercream dyed lavender, and coconut chiffon with dark chocolate icing. They were all absolutely amazing! Not only were they all tasty, but also the manager worked with us to choose what we wanted, make changes, and pick them up early in the morning for our luncheon. It was a great experience!

We have been Buzz Bakery customers for years and there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted them to do my wedding cake. We set up a tasting and they offered us a wide selection and offered a lot of options for customization. Their prices were better than another bakery we had priced too which was a nice surprise! We initially worked with Katie, who was wonderful and very responsive and helpful. Katie went on maternity leave and was sure to introduce us via email to the manager who would be taking her place. Excellent service! We look forward to seeing our cake.

Buzz Bakery provided our wedding cake. They were so easy to work with. I changed my mi nd several times as to what I wanted for the cake design and flavors. Katie was so accommodating and made helpful suggestions throughout the process. Katie was very responsive and the entire process was worry free.

We ended up going with a lemon cake with raspberry filling for the display cake, and a cookie monster sheet cake. Both were delicious and our guests commented on the cake throughout the evening. I highly recommend choosing Buzz for your wedding day!

Buzz Bakery provided both wedding cake and cupcakes for our recent wedding reception. We had a tasting to sample different tastes and selected a broad set of cupcakes - I recommend the Mexican Chocolate cupcake while my daughter liked the Red Velvet ones. They were a great value and easy to work with. The only issue we had was that they had the wrong date in the original contract. They had it a week earlier and actually delivered it a week early before the reception. They owned their mistake and delivered a fresh cake and set of cupcakes the following week. I considered them very professional that way and glad to see them be responsive to their mistake. I would recommend them and just make sure all dates are correct.

OMG Buzz Bakery did a simply FABULOUS job with our wedding sweets n' treats. The tasting was so so much fun- even my hubbie loved it and he rarely eats dessert. They listen to your ideas, and work with you to execute your vision in taste, color, and style. Remember, they are the experts! We were having an outdoor, summer wedding and they made recommendations to us on how to select desserts and ingredients that can stand up to humidity. Thank goodness we took their advise, because humidity was the least of our problems when it started to rain! Despite the heat and everything, the dessert table was a fabulous centerpiece for our event and the guests went wild- everything disappeared very quickly. Remember to ask a friend/family member to work with your caterers to pack you up a 'doggie bag' because you probably won't have time to have desserts during your wedding, and missing out on these sweet treats would be a tragedy!

They provided a delicious gluten free 6 inch wedding cake for the top of the cupcake tree. It was simply decorated which is what we wanted for we added fresh flowers to it. It was very reasonably priced and I would recommend this as an alternative to expensive wedding cakes.

I absolutely loved working with Alex Mudry at Buzz. I had several "ideas" about what I wanted the cake to look like, and she was able to take my pictures and words and turn them into exactly what I didn't know I wanted. We did a simple 3 layer cake with chocolate and almond layers. She was really helpful with determining the size and shape of the cake. Everyone commented on how lovely it turned out and we were very pleased.

We did an assortment of cupcakes and a gluten-free wedding cake/topper with Buzz. The whole process was seamless. They consulted on the order with us in detail, made sure we had a wide variety of options/tastes, and were very creative in making a gluten-free topper for us. We had eloped and the cake/cupcake was for a post-wedding reception so they tied in elements of our elopement cake, which was great. They also came to our venue and set everything up, refusing to take a tip for the service. Really and truly outstanding customer service and care. I would highly recommend them.

Alex was flexible with meeting us and asked all the right questions. We had a difficult time choosing a cake flavor, but since she new our favorite cupcake from Buzz, she had us agreeing that "Lose Your Marbles" was it! On the inside, the cake was delicious. On the outside, the design was simple, but elegant-- exactly what we wanted, so we could incorporate freshly cut flowers.
Alex coordinated with our wedding venue to deliver and set up the cake. We still smile when we see the pictures and reflect on the awesomeness of the BEST wedding cake EVER!

Alexandra at Buzz Bakery did my wedding cake this past November. Working with her was an absolute pleasure. She created the perfect cake for our wedding and really listened to what we wanted. She was super flexible. We had to move our wedding due to my husband's visa taking longer and she adapted to the new date and was completely flexible. The cake was delivered on time, set up beautifully, and tasted great. I would highly recommend using Buzz Bakery for your wedding cake. Great value, great service, flexibility, and care towards creating the cake you want for your wedding day.

Our cake was awesome. We got lots of compliments on it. We had pumpkin with cream cheese frosting. We ordered a small two-tiered cake for cutting and then a cutting cake to serve to the rest of our guests. There must have been some mis-communication though b/c we thought that our guests would get served vanilla and pumpkin cake but just the pumpkin cake was served.

The cake was really delicious, moist and beautiful.

We did the tasting at Buzz in Alexandria and tasted about 6 different cupcakes. It was super fun but they charged me for my coffee that day. If I'm going to be spending hundreds of dollars on a cake, shouldn't my coffee during my tasting, be free?

Would totally recommend them. We didn't ask about freezing the top because we just figured we'll go back to Buzz in a year and order cupcakes from them versus trying to eat really old frozen cake.

Buzz Bakery is FANTASTIC!!! I cannot say enough good things about them. Alexandra Mudry, the chef my husband and I worked with, was so professional and helpful, not to mention responsive. The responsiveness is huge, because as a bride it can become really stressful if your vendors do not respond to your emails/calls in a timely manner. She listened to our ideas for our cake, and had great ideas as far as flavors and design to achieve what we wanted. We even got free cupcakes any time we came in for a tasting, to make a payment, and to sign our contract. All of my guests raved about the cake and wanted to know the bakery so they could go check it out. To all the DC/Northern VA brides reading this review, Buzz Bakery should seriously be your very first (and only) stop in your search for the perfect wedding cake.

Our wedding cake was not only beautiful, but delicious as well! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Buzz Bakery - we were able to arrange everything via email, we had a fantastic tasting and chose a custom cake that was perfect for us, and the bakery coordinated directly with the reception venue to deliver and set everything up so we didn't have to worry about a thing. Not to mention the prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of cake you get. We ate the entire cake, it was so good!

Buzz did our wedding cake for the big day and did a beautiful job. they were very flexible when we came in to taste test. We asked them to create a design that mirrored our invitation and they did just that. Plus, it was delicious cake!

Buzz Bakery provided cupcakes and a ceremonial cake for us to cut. They were extremely helpful during our tasting and even sent us home with extra cupcakes! On the day of our wedding, they delivered and set-up everything perfectly and it all tasted delicious. Our guests loved the cupcakes!

We were very happy with our wedding cupcakes/cake from the Buzz! We really shopped around, considering all of the big DC cupcake places, but we received nowhere close to the great customer service that we did at the Buzz. We worked with Nancy and Dawn- Nancy left the Buzz and we transitioned to Dawn mid-way through our planning process, but both women are very organized and professional so the transition was seamless. The cupcakes were delicious (we went with chocolate/vanilla combos) and they made a custom designed cake to cut that aligned with our theme. We actually came in to taste cupcakes a few times, with different wedding party members, and they were accommodating and gracious, reserving a table and providing complimentary cupcakes and drinks. The one unfortunate thing was that they didn't deliver as far as we needed, but they worked amazingly with our caterer who picked-up the cupcakes in the morning and delivered them/set them up in our space. The cake and the cupcakes were beautiful and delicious! I highly recommend the Buzz Bakery!

My wife and I had Buzz cupcakes for our wedding reception. They were delicious and everyone loved them. I think the cupcakes are a much better choice than a wedding cake cause people actually seem to enjoy them.

Josh Short at Buzz Bakery created the most delicious original apple cranberry pie for our wedding in place of cake. It was a pleasure to work with Buzz bakery-the staff was attentive and responsive. I was very pleased and would highly recommend this baker...they have delicious cupcakes there as well-I have no doubt they'd be able to make a great traditional wedding cake.

I used Buzz for my recent wedding's cupcakes (instead of a traditional layered cake) and they were delicious! Buzz was very flexible with my numbers and flavors and they were very responsive when I called and emailed them over the course of planning. Also, they were flexible with their delivery times and helped to make the process very easy!

We ordered four flavors of cupcakes, plus a 6" cake. Everyone at Buzz was great to work with and the cake and cupcakes were amazing. All our guests raved about the red velvet, especially. Highly recommend, whether for a wedding or just a Saturday afternoon! Yum :)

We hired Buzz Bakery to provide our wedding cake in November 2014 because we were looking for a gluten-free vanilla cake, which is very hard to find. We were not disappointed! Our original contact was sometimes unresponsive, but she has since left the bakery and her replacement was fantastic to work with -- very organized and responsive.

While we couldn't do a big cake tasting due to gluten allergies, we were able to do a frosting tasting and it was great. The cake on the big day looked fantastic and tasted great! We were very happy with our service from Buzz.

Buzz made the wedding cake for my September 2013 wedding. It was absolutely delicious! We had four tiers of raspberry vanilla and dark chocolate ganache - both were moist and tasted insane. In fact, at one point during our reception, I was dancing and one of my bridesmaids ran up to me, raving about the cake, and dragged me over to her table because she and her boyfriend wanted to make sure I had some because it was so good! Even now, a year later, our guests were still telling us that it was the best wedding cake they've ever had. What I especially appreciated was how willing Buzz was to work within our vision. We wanted a pretty simple cake, but I had a very specific design in mind. Alex sketched out a design based on an inspiration photo I brought to our tasting, and was more than happy to bring it to life. And she did! It looked very elegant and was exactly what I had in mind! What's more, she also kindly accepted a recipe for icing from my mom that's been in our family for four generations and has been eaten at every big family celebration. She included the icing in the layers of our cake, and while it sounds so simple, it was something special for my family (and was so good!). Buzz also provided chocolate chip cookies and milk (my husband's favorite!) alongside our cake, which are guests are also still talking about!

Thank you Buzz Bakery! Highly recommend for a wedding (and for a visit to their bakery/coffee shop anytime!).

Buzz bakery does a great job if you're looking for a simple, buttercream cake. I got Swiss dots since I just wanted something simple, and decorated with flowers myself. The price was right for a simple design. It was delivered before I got to the venue, was very yummy, and looked great. Alex was also a pleasure to work with and was very helpful when I changed my mind a couple times. I got red velvet for the tiered cake and then an extra lemon cake just for slicing.

Buzz worked hard with us to schedule tastings, get decorations perfect and work with our special needs which included securing a couple of sugar free cupcakes.

They got there on time, set up the cupcakes beautifully, and EVERYONE enjoyed the cupcakes. Some of the most beautiful pictures at the wedding include the cupcakes in them. The colors and layout were dazzling.

Buzz already makes some of the tastiest treats around, but Nancy Hickman and Patrick took that to the next level for our wedding cupcakes.
They arrived in perfect condition, right on time, and were gorgeous. We chose three basic flavors--chocolate, vanilla, and red velvet, topped with her vanilla buttercream or cream cheese frosting. It delighted the guests as they got to sample a few delicious flavors throughout the evening.
Nancy's estimation of how many we would need was exactly on target. We rented the cake stand from them, and it was perfect! The top layer of the cake was really beautiful, just like the decorations on the top of the cupcakes.

Buzz was great about listening to us and helping us pick cupcakes that worked with our setup. The display stand was very nice, and showcased the cupcakes beautifully. The cupcakes were delicious, and looked both professional and tantalizing--we ordered both German Chocolate (filling) with Fudge icing, and Lemon Chiffon with Vanilla --- we got raves reviews from all our guests!

We were so happy with our cupcakes from Buzz! Our tasting was so much fun, and we liked their many, many flavors so much that we had 10 different kinds at our wedding. They were super-flexible with quantities, sizes (we had both mini and regular sized), and even flavors, offering to invent us a recipe if there was a flavor we wanted that they didn't currently have. Their rental stand is lovely, and their staff couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating and prompt. It occassionally took rather a long time to get a response via email, but if I needed an answer right away, calling worked, and there were never any problems with the responses or the service. Oh, and the cupackes couldn't have been more delicious -- we took in many compliemnts (and cupackes).

Easy to order cake which was used only for a cake cutting ceremony. Ordered the cake just a few days before the wedding, plain chocolate with vanilla icing. When the filling we picked was not available, the lady from the bakery called back later that day to make me aware of the change and give me a two new options to pick from. My girlfriends decorated the cake with fresh flowers and it turned out beautiful!

We knew that we wanted cupcakes for our wedding cake, as eating cupcakes around the DC area is one of our favorite things to do. We were 99% sure that we wanted Buzz Bakery to make our wedding cupcakes, but just to be on the safe side we did test out a few others. None compared to Buzz! Buzz's cake and frosting equal a delicious combination: the cake is moist and the buttercream frosting ranks among the best that I've had (anywhere).

We consulted with several Buzz staffers and decided on chocolate cupcakes with vanilla and vanilla cupcakes with chocolate. We had debated the idea of two large leaves on the top of each cake, but after some discussion we decided that small leaf sprinkles would be easier. We also ordered a 6 inch buttercream cake for the top of the tree. The cupcakes were one of the hits of the night--many went back for seconds and my husband and I couldn't stop eating our mini cake. The presentation on the tree was spectacular.

We would never want to say anything negative about Buzz, as we love going there to read and enjoy the food, drinks, and space. Keep in mind that Buzz is VERY easygoing and probably unlike any other wedding vendor that you'll deal with. They were flexible about when to meet for a consultation (in fact, they were almost hard to pin down!), slow with our proposal and contract, and very easygoing about final payment. Of course, everything went off smoothly (and deliciously)--it seems that Buzz operates from a less stressed level than most wedding vendors

Their website doesn't mention that they do wedding cakes, but they definitely do. We fell in love with their espresso buttercream and couldn't shake it as we were looking at other possibilities. The cake was delicious, and everyone loved it.

Tips to getting the most out of this vendor: 1) Before you do tasting, tell them what you'd like to try (or not try). 2) They're really willing to work with you exploring different configurations, so ask about different options. 3) Request updated invoices as you go-- they don't require that you pay the total up front (just half), but you have to ask for updates if you want them after the original estimate. That's my only complaint: That confirmations were tough to get during the immediate lead-up to my wedding.

This is an overdue review.
We used Buzz Bakery due to having our wedding at a restaurant in the group. I had been there before and liked their cupcakes, so was ok with the requirement to use them. We emailed the baker to set up a tasting. We we're told our dates we suggested were too soon for a fall wedding so we picked some the following moth and were told they were too far away. We were told the cupcake stand we would want was already rented. She sounded annoyed and told us to check back with her at a later date as they were very busy. So a month later I wrote back to try to set up as tasting. 3 emails being ignored we got a response from the new baker. A tasting was set up, (which we had to pay for). We were given options for the mini cupcakes and our cake to be customized. I was told the cupcake stand was not rented and was shown the stand they would use. Put down a $50 deposit for it and was told the baker would contact me if she found out anything different.
Day of the wedding: My wedding planer got to the venue to find the cupcakes on plates and a cake stand for the cake. She was told the cupcake stand was rented. Being an awesome planner she has 2 stands she brought from home and saved the day. The good news- the cupcakes and cake were DELICIOUS. They would get 5 stars for taste. I emailed Buzz about the deposit I wanted back since there was no stand. First I had to argue about the conversation, but was promptly told I was correct and they would send me a refund. Multiple emails and lots of time passed, still no refund.
Wonderful cakes and cupcakes- not the best communication and customer service.
