Carrie is the Wedding Cake Queen!
As soon as we sat down with Carrie, we knew we'd be getting exactly what we wanted. She made us feel right at home while clearly showing she was a professional. All her flavors were delicious, we wish we could married every year just to eat her cakes.
She was flexible and willing to go above and beyond for us on our special day. The cake was absolutely gorgeous, and we cannot wait to unfreeze the rest. Thank you so much Carrie. You will hold a special place in our hearts forever! -

Carrie is such a sweet lady. Working with her was so much fun! She's really reasonably priced - she could charge way more for her cakes, but she doesn't. She made the tasting process easy - shipped the flavors to us so we didn't have to drive all the way down to southern VA from Annapolis. We did two other cake tastings with other companies and hers was hands-down the best, AND most affordable. She sat down with me and helped me sort everything out, from flavors, to cake amount, to colors, and frosting vs, fondant. I designed the cake, and she recreated that design perfectly! Our cake was STUNNING. She also set up the cake flowers and toppers on-site and the result was gorgeous. She had the idea to have cookies as guest favors, and so she also brought and set out variety of beautifully decorated sugar cookies. Some had blue and purple galaxies on them and others had constellations (our theme was night sky). They were beautiful and delicious, and we got so many comments on them. Everyone who was on-site had something wonderful to say about her when I asked - I wish I'd been able to talk to her in person when she came by, but I was off getting ready. You cannot go wrong hiring Carrie for your event! -

Absolutely Delicious!
We ordered our wedding cake, cupcakes, and a surprise birthday cake for my now husband through Buttercream Dreams and everything was perfect! Our tasting was by far, the most fun part of the entire wedding planning process and we had lots of favorite flavor combinations, it was difficult to narrow down choices but Carrie helped with that as well. We ended up going with a dark chocolate cutting cake with peanut butter buttercream frosting for our wedding cake, snickerdoodle cupcakes (which our guests devoured), dark chocolate cupcakes, and almond cupcakes with almond buttercream frosting. Everything was delicious and Carrie was so helpful with advice on the color of our cake (which was a rich, emerald green) and helping me surprise my now husband with his birthday cake which he loved and was thrilled to have his own cake. She worked great with our other vendors and we found her very reasonably priced as well. Highly recommend her for any baked goods in any future events. -

I got married October 1, 2022 and am so grateful that I was able to work with Carrie from Buttercream Dreams to create a beautiful and delicious cake for my day! Carrie was amazing to work with throughout the entire planning time and was responsive and open to my thoughts and questions. She was able to help combine several ideas I had found online into exactly what I was envisioning, and had SO many traditional and unique flavors to pick from. I was planning my wedding from out of state, and Carrie was even able to ship us some of her most popular cake options, with frosting, for us to do our tasting without having to drive all the way to meet with her! The flavors we ended up picking were absolutely perfect (we got to have 2 flavors, for no extra charge), and all of our guests loved the options. Carrie is a wonderful, local VA vendor who offers great prices and even better service! You can't go wrong working with her. Thank you again, Carrie, for helping to make our day extra special and tasty! :) -

Carrie was a literal dream to work with! She was super responsive, flexible, honest, organized, kind and overall fantastic. From our very first interaction with her to the very last crumb of our cake/cupcakes, Carrie made our wedding dreams come true! Our cake and cupcakes were absolutely beautiful, and they were hands down the most delicious we have eaten. It was one of the most complimented items from our wedding. We cannot wait to eat our frozen tier of our cake for our anniversary! Her assistant did a fantastic job setting up as well. As far as value for her services, she does not charge nearly enough in our opinion. We will be using Carrier again for other occasions and celebrations. -

THANK YOU SO MUCH CARRIE!!! Carrie made us a gorgeous lemon cake with strawberry filling and then 3 different types of cupcakes! Snickerdoodle, pink champagne, and dark chocolate mocha! The guests loved it and so did we. They were all so delicious! Not only that but the cake was beautiful, absolutely stunning. The whole dessert table was set up so nicely. Thank you so much!! -

She went above and beyond!
Carrie was great to work with for our June 2022 wedding. She was very detail oriented and wanted to make sure all the colors matched our wedding scheme. She was able to make us a tasting box prior to choosing, and it was so hard to choose flavors because they were all amazing! She helped me figure out how many cupcakes I would need based on guest count and cake size. Her pricing is very fair and she is prompt and courteous! We cant wait to celebrate our one year anniversary with our saved top tier! -

Spectacular cake and service
On Memorial Day, May 30, 2022, my father-in-law turned 100. He is a World War II veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor. We had a very special birthday party for him and as such, we needed a very special cake. We are new to the area so I really had no idea where to start looking for a cake maker so I turned to the internet. I don't know if it was luck or divine provenance, but I was led to Carrie at Buttercream Dreams. I explained the event to her and how I wanted the cake decorated. I wanted his WW II medals included, as well as a cross because my father-in-law became a Presbyterian minister after the war. I left the rest in Carrie's very, very capable hands. Apart from being delicious, the design Carrie came up with was nothing short of a masterpiece; a true work of art. The cake was delicious as well as gorgeous. Carrie was a delight to work with, very pleasant, and professional, and she even delivered the cake personally. Who could ask for more? I am beyond words for how much we loved the cake and how appreciative we are of Carrie's talents. I now know exactly where to go next time I need a cake for not only a super special occasion but for any occasion. Thank you so much, Carrie! -

Carrie was wonderful to work with! Super fast with communication, the taste testing was superb, cake was light and so moist, and frosting was flavorful without being overpowering, simply outstanding! We got a two tiered cake for us and cupcakes for the guests, a “his flavor” “hers flavor” and “their’s flavor” to choose from, and our friends are still talking about how delicious they were! Can’t wait for our anniversary to come so we can have more cake!! We would 1000% recommend Buttercream Dreams to everyone! -

Carrie was an absolute pleasure to work with and an amazingly talented baker. She baked us the most delicious and adorable wedding cake (which was styled like a birch tree - I will add photos when we get them!) and three different flavors of cupcakes for our wedding. We also decided we wanted to order pie from her, and she helped us troubleshoot and found another local baker to make my wedding pie dreams come true! All of our guests raved about the taste of everything - my dad is STILL talking about the almond wedding cake. She even came to our venue in the middle of Shenandoah National Park to deliver and set up our picture perfect wedding dessert spread.
Carrie was also just a wonderful and warm person. She was easy to get in touch with if we had questions, and coming to her home for our tasting was one of the most fun wedding-related activities we did (aside from the wedding itself, of course!). I am so glad we found her! -

Thank you for our incredible wedding cake, Buttercream Dreams, LLC!!!! Carrie was BEYOND a joy to work with from the initial phone call to our amazing tasting & guidance on creating the cake of your dreams within our budget & providing well beyond what we thought we could afford to her gorgeous attention to detail to our guests rave reviews, she were kind, fun to be around, informative & super-competent & did everything beyond perfectly! The tasting was FUN & generous! It was hard to choose, but we went with Chocolate with Mocha Icing, Lemon with Raspberry Cream Cheese Icing & Almond with Cherry Preserves. All of them were awesome! There are so many things that can go wrong with weddings, but I never worried for a moment about our cake! :D The only thing that went wrong is catering didn't send us home with nearly enough leftovers! ;) Brides and grooms- definitely request all of the leftovers if anyone leaves them, because you'll be sad not to have more of the cake & people will ask for it! ;D And if anyone is wondering if it's worth a drive from Richmond or beyond to Weyer's Cave, a thousand times, yes, it is! Buttercream Dreams was absolutely amazing to work with, and Carrie absolutely exceeded my expectations. The cake tasting was phenomenal, and she helped us pin down which cupcake flavors we wanted to choose (we did cupcakes for the guests and a small cutting cake for ourselves). I highly recommend bridal white, snickerdoodle, and pink champagne - but truly every flavor we tried was phenomenal. Carrie & her team took care of all the cake stands and set-up as well, which was a huge blessing. Everything looked and tasted amazing and our guests are still raving about how good the cupcakes were! I honestly will probably have to order some from her every year to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you Carrie! You and your cupcakes / cakes are amazing. -

Splendid cake, reasonably priced!
Carrie at Buttercream Dreams LLC was a pleasure to work with. She was professional, prompt in her communication, and her cakes are DELICIOUS! We are in Charlottesville, and found her options unique, tasty, beautiful, and exceptionally reasonably priced. The tasting process was so fun, and she presented us with a great variety of options. It was great to make our cake exactly what we had hoped for on our big day. And our wedding cake the day of was simply beautiful. She worked with some clippings that our florist left her to make a beautiful yet simple cascade of flowers down the side of our delicately iced cake. Sadly, my husband and I did not get to enjoy as much of the cake as we wanted to the day of (apparently our guests liked it very much), and we were just blown away (again) at the taste when we dove into our anniversary cake (a week after the wedding :). Oh, BTW, we had an outdoor reception in 90-degree heat, and the buttercream on the cake stood up perfectly (for anyone who might be worried about that in the VA heat in July!). We were so happy to have selected Carrie to work with, and we will be recommending her to EVERYONE moving forward (as well as getting more anniversary cakes...or any kind of special occasion cakes...when we need/want them)!

Carrie is such a joy to work with and a true professional at what she does! She made every aspect of planning our cake a breeze and we are so glad we chose Buttercream Dreams! First of all, the tasting was so much fun! She prepared so many great flavors of cake and frosting for us to choose from. It was quite a hard decision because they were all so delicious! We chose a 3-tier cake with 2 flavors, and a separate anniversary cake that came already boxed up and ready to take home. Our guests loved it and most went back for seconds so they could have some of both flavors! I gave Carrie a couple pictures as examples of what we liked and she pulled it off perfectly! It was everything we were hoping for and more! Thank you so much, Carrie! -

We were absolutely delighted to have Carrie and the Buttercream Dreams team provide cupcakes and a cutting cake for our wedding day! From the very beginning, Carrie showed her expertise and professionalism in helping us to figure out all of the details of planning our desserts, suggesting flavors and numbers that would work best for our guests. As the wedding day got closer, Carrie kept in close contact to ensure that every detail was ready to go. Carrie and her team were more than accommodating throughout the entire process, even going so far as to set up additional desserts from another vendor (mini pies from Family Ties and Pies) on our dessert display, and come back to pack up leftovers at the end of the evening! Everything that she baked was gorgeous AND delicious. We were able to select several flavors for our wedding cake (we couldn’t narrow it down beyond three—four, if you count the groom’s cake), and even ordered extra because we knew that we would want some to take home! We are a family of cake lovers and Carrie’s cakes exceeded our expectations. She’s very flexible, accommodating, and talented. She went above and beyond for us and I’m positive that’s the way she is with all of her clients.

I can’t say enough good things about Buttercream Dreams! I live in Delaware but was planning my wedding for in Virginia and found out about them through many internet searches. From the first phone call, Carrie was so professional, kind, and easy to work with. She mailed us a tasting kit to Delaware and it was DELICIOUS even after traveling, so we knew the day-of cake would be phenomenal.. and it was! We chose red velvet, pink champagne, and bridal white with cream cheese icing between layers with buttercream icing all over and everyone continues to rave about how good it tasted. I cannot recommend them enough! -

Delicious!
Carrie was so flexible with meeting my fiance and I for a tasting. We did it last minute (3 weeks before our wedding) And the tasting was AMAZING. It was so hard to decide which flavors we wanted for our 4 tier cake. We had a different flavor of cake and icing for each layer. Our guests could not get over how great the cake was either! -

Hiring Buttercream Dreams to bake our wedding cake, was an excellent decision! Cary’s cakes are beautiful, delicious, and very affordable! Cary executed our wedding cake vision it beautifully!
Cary was very professional and pleasant to work with (facebook message or phone call works best). Her home baking studio is extremely clean and organized. Not to mention that, her cake flavors are absolutely to die for! We loved so many of them that we ended up choosing four (3 for the wedding cake & 1 for the anniversary cake). On our wedding day, the cake turned out gorgeous and delicious. Out of the 3 flavors, the [strawberry cake w/ white chocolate buttercream icing] was by far everyone’s favorite. So we’re very glad we chose it as our bottom/largest tier.
We absolutely recommend hiring Buttercream Dreams! They are top-notch. Don’t wait too long to hire them though! They are a hot commodity in the Shenandoah area and get booked up quickly. -

Groom’s cake
Carrie made my husbands groom cake for our rehearsal dinner. It was a design she had never done before but she was up for the challenge and it came out phenomenal. He is Army EOD so I thought a cake that looked like a bomb with our wedding date in the countdown would be just perfect. She does excellent work and it looked like just what I asked for. She even offered to deliver it for us to the restaurant. -
