Perfection.
Everything about Brittland Estates is perfect. Natalie is so wonderful to work with - very responsive and extremely helpful! The entire estate is incredible (pictures don’t do it justice!) - the grounds are beautiful with stunning water views and both the Brittland Manor and River Lodge are well maintained and very elegant inside. The best part about this venue other than it’s beauty is the convenience. We had our rehearsal dinner on Friday by the water; wedding ceremony by the water; cocktail hour in pool area; and reception under a tent behind the house. Each of the locations had its own unique look and feel to it. I couldn’t recommend this venue enough - it was truly a dream come true!-

Beautiful venue!
We recently had our wedding at the Stepne Manor location among their venue choices. A few weeks later we keep saying we could not have picked a better or more beautiful venue for our day! Natalie was so helpful throughout the entire process and was available to answer all of our questions. We also loved the flexibility that this venue provided in order to make the day our own. Highly, highly recommend!! -

Brittland was the PERFECT venue for our wedding. I know I'm biased as the bride, but it was truly outstanding. We had always envisioned an outdoor wedding with the ceremony on the water and a tented reception. We wanted our wedding to be a weekend event with all of our closest friends and family staying together or as close as possible. We visited a few different venues on the Eastern Shore, but ultimately saved the best for last. The moment we arrived at Brittland Manor we both knew it was the one, it had everything we wanted – water views, outdoor cocktail hour and reception space, the ability to fit both of our immediate families and all of the bridal party in the main house and river lodge, and not to mention the grounds were beautiful. It was exactly what we had dreamed of. We hosted all our events on site from the rehearsal dinner by the River Lodge, ceremony on the grass by the water, cocktail hour by the pool and garden, and the reception on the brick patio behind the Manor house. It was truly the most beautiful setting for a wedding. All of our guests were blown away by the venue.
We can’t thank Natalie and Rusty enough! Natalie was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. She let us get in the house a day earlier so we could get settled and set everything up before the bridal party began arriving Friday morning. The house has everything you could need – linens, towels, large coffee maker, and lots and lots of room. Rusty takes amazing care of the grounds – the gardens and lawns were impeccable. Having your wedding at Brittland is more than just an event, it's a one-of-a-kind full weekend experience. We can’t recommend it enough!

Brittland Estates has the most beautiful venues on the Eastern Shore. Natalie is a pleasure to work with and has been so accommodating to us. We can't wait to have our wedding at the Manor house in June. This venue will wow everyone and set the mood for an unforgettable night.
Update: Britland Manor truly was the perfect venue for our wedding. We were so lucky to have such beautiful weather on June 10th. We had our ceremony in the garden which was in full bloom and gorgeous. The garden is so beautiful the only flowers we ordered were white rose petals to line the aisle which looked simply classic and romantic. 174 people easily fit in to the garden space as well.
Cocktail hour around the pool was just beautiful as well. We had some cocktail tables set up and two short round tables with chairs. They also have their own furniture around the pool for extra seating which was perfect. The caretaker keeps the pool and entire venue so clean and beautiful. He is also very friendly and is there for anything you may need.
The brick patio with views of the Chester River and the entire property was just gorgeous. We could not have asked for a better location to get married and celebrate the beginning of our new life together.
The manor house was so amazing to stay in and the river house was loved by our friends in the bridal party. There is one review that says the walls are very thin but I did not find this to be a problem at all. I could say maybe because my family isn't loud and doesn't know how to party but that would be such a lie. So maybe we sleep hard. Regardless, noise was not an issue for us what so ever. There was truly nothing better than to be with our closest family and friends for an entire weekend at this beautiful location. We live on the Eastern Shore as well so my husband brought our boat up as well as some other family. We utilized the beach, the pool, and that great patio the entire weekend. I can't say enough about Britland Manor. Take us back!!! -

This venue was perfection...the weather however was not!
Thankfully, because the venue has a brick back-patio area for large tents, we were able to move our ceremony from the garden into the tent before the rain started and women sunk into the grass with their heels.
The rooms are beautiful, the location is gorgeous!
My one and only complaint- the walls in the rooms are paper thin. I slept in the bridal suite and could hear the conversations down the hall at night. I could hear whenever anyone came up the stairs and heck, even conversations that were loud downstairs. Some of my guests thought an announcement was being made downstairs for everyone to come down in the morning because the caterer was talking loudly in the kitchen to his staff...so just know, your guests can each other's conversations through the walls!
Other than that small annoyance, the venue was a dream! The rooms were even stocked with toiletries (mini shampoos, conditioner, soaps, towels, extra bed linens, hair dryers)! Which was a great convenience.
The manager is easy to work with and very flexible. The groundskeeper is friendly and everyone works with you to ensure things go as best they can for you!
If I had it over to do again, I'd pick this venue again in a heartbeat!
If the weather had cooperated, we would have been married in the garden which was STILL in full bloom with beautiful flowers and bushes, under the tree (still covered in green leaves) and overlooking the water view... *sigh* October weather. But had I requested it, they would have even tented the garden to make this work for me :) I realized, however, that after days of rain in the area and a cold front, that guests would still not be as comfortable in the garden as they were on the brick patio under the tent with heaters. Hey, rain is good luck from what I hear!
Anyway, this venue is HIGHLY recommended and will forever be in our hearts as the wonderful, magical location for our vows to eachother :) <3 -

We stayed at Running Fox and it was absolutely amazing. It was so beautiful and we knew we wanted it from the moment that we saw it. They only do booking for 3-day blocks so my family got to come and hang out with us for 3 days. It was a blast! We were able to have our reception onsite as well as our ceremony. The property was breathtaking and the perfect backdrop for our photos. The staff made sure we had everything that we needed for our wedding and was always available when something came up. I want to get married again just to have the wedding there again! -

The venue was stunningly beautiful and the professionalism of the crew was outstanding. They work with and recommend top notch vendors to create a 5 star event. The venue was easy to access for travelers, and Chestertown offers lots of activities for visitors. We stayed at the Manor house from Thursday through Sunday and enjoyed all of the amenities - especially utilizing the pool and extra large kitchen - with our closest friends and family who also stayed at the Manor House and River Lodge. My husband, both of our families, and our guests can't stop talking about how beautiful and perfect Brittland Estates was for our wedding weekend! -

Brittland Estates was the best choice we made for our wedding. Natalie was great to work with, always professional, and always willing to work with our many requests. We rented both Brittland and the River Lodge, which turned out to be a great choice as we were able to utilize both sites for the rehearsal and reception. By choosing Brittland and the River Lodge we were also able to accommodate most of our guests. This allowed us to relax and enjoy our family/friends for an entire weekend which was priceless. It is hard to describe the beauty of Brittland, but it truly is breathtaking. We loved every minute of our time there and highly recommend this venue. -

We were married at Stepne Manor in October and couldn't have been more pleased with the venue and Natalie. The house is in an amazing setting and everywhere you turn is a picture spot. Natalie is very flexible and helpful. We had a problem with our tent and she helped us handle the pieces the next day. She is responsive and helpful. I would recommend this venue and any of the Brittland venues for your wedding day! -

I started looking for a venue shortly after our engagement because I knew that I wanted it to be unique. We were originally in search of a venue where we would be able to hold our reception in a barn but none of them would accommodate the amount of guests we were anticipating.
I came across Brittland Estates during my search and knew that we had to check it out. It was the first venue that we had visited and I was so eager to visit the four different properties that Brittland Estates has to offer. The properties are all so beautiful but what I found to be so special about it is that each property is unique in its own way and if you are looking to personalize your wedding, it is perfect!
We chose the Running Fox Farm property for our ceremony and reception. We loved the wide open country setting and all of the comforts of home that it had to offer.
The rehearsal dinner was held at Stepne Manor and it was the perfect location to be with our family and friends the night before our wedding. It meant so much to be able to stay in the homes with our families for the wedding weekend. It is such a welcoming and amazing location for a wedding and we would not have had it any other way. -

I looked at almost every venue in the DC metro area and Brittland Manor was by the far the perfect location at the perfect price. For the cost of a 4 hour reception venue rental in DC, we were able to rent Brittland Manor and the River Lodge for 3 days. Our whole family came out for a weekend wedding and were able to stay right on sight with us.
It's clean, the grounds are beautiful, and the event manager was professional, helpful and gave us complete privacy. We didn't see a staff person the whole weekend (exactly what we wanted!). I just can't say enough good things. -

Wow, what a beautiful place for a wedding. When my Daughter said she wanted to have her wedding here I was hesitant but having the entire wedding party together for the weekend was great. The wedding ceremony was outside overlooking 500 beautiful acres and the Chester River with the reception on the back patio under a clear top tent. Would definitely recommend this venue. -

My husband and I fell in love with this place as soon as we laid eyes on it. It had everything we wanted. It was right on the water with a beautiful open space for a tent with old trees and flowers scattered about. This venue was a gorgeous canvas in which to make our wedding. I loved how we had the place for the whole weekend. No rushing to put decorations up. We slept at the lodge the night before and after, which alleviated a lot of stress. I wouldn't have wanted any other place. That being said, we could have done without the broken glass strewn all over our ceremony site (we had a lot of small children coming who would be running around) and had to spend a couple hours picking it up. There was a rusty old razor blade in the toilet and the shower drain didn't work very well. Other than that though, it was perfect and I highly recommend it!!! -

Amazing venue for a September wedding
Everything at Brittland was incredible. Natalie the manager of the estates is very responsive and accommodating with all of the visits and weddings going on there year round.
It is a historic home but all of our guests were very comfortable with the accommodations and the venue and day was a absolute dream for our special celebration. -

My fiancé and I looked at approximately 30 ceremony and reception sites. We were looking for an affordable waterfront location with the sun setting over the water, which is somewhat hard to find in Maryland. The River Lodge at Brittland Estates fit this description perfectly. The cost to rent the lodge for the weekend and hold an event there was cheaper than any other option we looked into, and the view from either the little beach or dock is breathtaking. Our biggest problem in choosing The River Lodge was its availability. Although we would have preferred a September date, we ended up getting married in late October because this was one of the only openings left. There was an issue with the heat in the lodge upon our arrival the day before the wedding, but Natalie had the caretaker and a professional fix it within two hours. She also called later in the day to ensure that we were not experiencing further problems, but we appreciated that she otherwise left us alone. Our wedding took place near the little beach facing the river. The cocktail hour was near the grove of trees, and the reception was in a tent in the clearing near the electrical box. The only problem we experienced was the black walnuts on the ground. We removed them from the ceremony area and from underneath the tent, but one stained the bottom of my dress while we were taking pictures underneath the trees. -

We had our wedding at Stepne Manor. It was absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the money to have our wedding party in one place, as well having the rehearsal, ceremony, and reception all on site. There was plenty of space for everyone in the wedding, the parents, and a few friends that had to travel a good distance. They let us bring air mattresses, and there was plenty of floor space for them. Natalie was really helpful and organized the vendors to make sure they knew were they were supposed to set up. She wasn't always easy to get in touch with, though, and the day before the wedding, she came and went to the manor without ever talking to me. I didn't know she had gotten there until she had already left. She talked to my fiance, but I didn't get a chance to ask her any of the questions I thought of that weekend about what we needed to do before we left until we were trying to get everything ready to check out on Sunday. -
