  Good service and workmanship

  My wedding dress alterations were done by Ruth (hemming, bustle, taking in at the waist, shortening the shoulder straps, bra cups, attaching the belt) for less than $700. The cost was appropriate, I think, based on a similar estimate by another seamstress in Raleigh. The work was great! From all angles, the dress was fantastic, which I think you can tell from the photos. Ruth also allowed Saturday appointments!!! Photos by Beth Ely and the dress was from Gilded Bridal.

  Professional and efficient service

  Ruth did a terrific job with altering my wedding dress! She was extremely professional throughout the process. During my first fitting she worked carefully, but efficiently and she listened carefully to make sure she was getting the length of the train etc. exactly the way I wanted it. She was able to complete the alterations quickly, in about 30 days, and when I went to pick up my dress it was perfect! I was very happy with my experience with Bridal Alterations by Ruth and would recommend her highly!

  Stunning work on my bridal gown!

  Ruth attended to every concern for my bridal alterations, which included a rather tricky alteration of a sheer mesh section with lace appliques that needed to be shortened to better fit my shoulders. I was so worried it would be impossible to fix without disrupting the beautiful lace pattern, but Ruth made it look absolutely seamless. The dress fit me perfectly for my big day and I received so many compliments on both the dress and the fit. Ruth was also to help me customize my look by re-purposing extra ribbon from the beaded belt that came with the dress to make a pinned on belt that really accentuated my waist! The pricing was very fair for the amount of work, which was impeccably executed!

  Ruth did an excellent job altering my wedding dress! She made the process so simple. My dress was pretty complicated but she got it done quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to use her for any alterations needs.

  Miss Ruth is AMAZING! She rebuilt a designer wedding dress for me that was 6 inches all over the dress too big for me! Now my dress fits as if it is couture. I had a very tight timeline that she accommodated while also working fittings around my very busy work travel schedule. She truly has a gift and passion for wedding dresses! I drove to Raleigh from Columbia, SC (7 hours round trip 3 times) and I would do it all over again because she is that good at her work. If you want your wedding dress to look like it was made for only you, then ask Miss Ruth to alter your dress! You will not be disappointed!

  Ruth is the best/sweetest!

  I love Ruth! She was so kind, helpful, and her work was perfect. I changed my mind a few times and I also had to have my kids at my appointments a few times (and they're a handful), and Ruth was always wonderful. Her pricing is reasonable and I'm glad I found her!

  I got my alterations for my wedding dress done by Ruth and had such a great experience. She was so nice and was able to fit my into her schedule just a few months before my wedding. She added a bustle, bra cups, and took in my dress for such a fair and competitive price. I am so happy with how my dress came out and definitely would recommend her to any bride out there!

  Alterations are not cheap. Anywhere. But I think Ruth's prices were comparable to other services for the amount of work she did. In the end, my dress was let out, cap sleeves were sewn on, a bustle was added, and my dress and petticoat were hemmed (a total of 16 layers of crinoline and tulle). Because my dress had to be let out, beading was going to be added to the fabric leading up to the zipper, and in the end, we both forgot to add the beading. I was bummed about that, but I can't complain when it slipped my mind too. And because COVID cancelled our reception, I never even used the bustle. But I looked exactly how I wanted to look on my big day, and Ruth was easy to work with.

  Ruth did a wonderful job altering my wedding dress which needed to be taken in about 2 sizes,hemmed and the straps shortened, There was delicate lace around the bottom that had to be repositioned with the hem and her work was impeccable. She also added a bustle.

  It was really important to me to purchase my dress secondhand, but unfortunately the one I fell in love with had been previously altered and was too small for me. I brought it to Ruth to replace the back zipper-closure with a laced corset back, hem the skirt, and add a bustle. She did a beautiful job in a timely manner, and I was surprised with how well she was able to match the fabric!
