We LOVE Bread Basket cake, so we just knew that we had to have it for our wedding celebration! While it wasn't the cheapest option around, the cost was certainly worth it - the cake was exactly what we ordered, and it was delicious! The tasting was a little bit odd, as we sat outside and tried the cake options by ourselves before one of the girls came out to meet with us. Personally, I would've liked to have been able to try more/different options (from the list) during the tasting, but the ones that we did try were delicious. I asked for our cake to be made exactly as I had seen on a Pinterest post, and they delivered it on time - it was perfect! Mmm, I wish that I had some Bread Basket cake to eat right now!!

I have loved Bread Basket cakes for the longest time so when it came to choosing our wedding cake nothing really beat Bread Basket! I really thought that they would be too expensive, but their prices were actually quite competitive with other local places and their cakes are beyond excellent! The design and taste was over the top delicious, we had NO leftover cake at all!!! That must mean everyone loved it :-)

Their cakes are delicious and amazing. I have used Bread Basket for every birthday cake since I was a child so using them to make my wedding cake was a super easy decision. :)

Our wedding cake was sooo beautiful !! We loved everything about it from the hand piped scrollwork to the fresh flowers. Thank you so much for taking the time to find my poppies! Meant so much to have the perfect black and white cake. And of course so yummy!! We would hands down recommend Paul and Breadbasket to do any special event cake!

The cakes from the Bread Basket are my absolute favorites! I am not a dessert person but their fruit basket and red velvet cakes are scrumptious! We did the usual cake tasting at several bakeries but after everyone tried the samples at the Bread Basket there was no question as to where the wedding cake was being made. We discussed what we wanted the cake to look like and picked our flavors. We ordered cake to feed approximately 120 people and their price was half of what we were quoted at other bakeries. We had excellent customer service each time we dealt with someone there. A friendly group of people who seem happy to help you. The cake was delivered on time and was not only beautiful but tasted divine. we received so many complements on how moist and delicious the cake was. The wedding cake was a hit! Would definitely recommend the Bread Basket !

Growing up in Camarillo, I've always known about Bread Basket. With that said, I have always wanted my wedding cake to be a Bread Basket cake. After choosing flavors and size, we were amazed at how affordable our cake was. The finished product was more than we expected. We received a lot of compliments on how good our cake was. I would always go to this bakery in between classes during college at CSUCI. So it was an obvious choice for me to schedule a cake tasting at Bread Basket for my wedding. My husband, is not a big fan of cake. However, he loved all 4 samples of the cakes and after that he was an easy sell! Our cake was exactly what we asked for. They are excellent with their cake presentation, but more importantly it was moist, fresh and delicious!

Theresa was so easy to work with and AFFORDABLE! We knew right from the tasting we wanted her to make our cake. The only problem was chosing only 3 flavors ( we only wanted 3 tiers )for the different layers! EVERYTHING was delicious! Haha we did finally narrow it down and added lemon bars that my family still talks about a month later! Since she now has a store front closer to us, we will deff. be stopping by for cupcakes and bars! She was able to see our vision and understand what we wanted. She layed the lace I provided perfectly on each layer and made the cake topper look beautiful on it! Thank you for the tastey treats! We will see you soon for lemon bars!

Absolutely amazing cake! We went cake-tasting and their cakes won, hands down and everything they had was incredible. We couldn't decide so each layer of our cake was different. Highly, highly recommend them!

The cake was awesome! We had a chocolate/hazelnut cake and a fresh fruit/white cake. Both were amazing, but the fresh fruit was really the best cake I've had. We didn't get to eat much at the reception (busy meeting guests), but everyone said they enjoyed it and we got to have plenty afterwards. They delivered everything exactly as needed and made this an easy part of the day.

Our cake was amazing! It tasted great and was exactly like the photo I gave to them for the design. They also let me add on 2 birthday cupcakes to the cake delivery for a few guests with their birthday on our wedding day. Couldn't have been happier!

All I can say is that I asked my now wife why we had to wait a hole year to eat the rest of the cake. Our guests went for 2nd's. That's right 2nd's on wedding cake.

The wedding cake was delicious and our guests loved it. Even when we realized we needed more cake (2 days before the wedding) we were able to purchase an additional sheet cake for the wedding day.

All I can say is YUM!!!! You have to go there and test the cakes. They're to die for! We got a mixture of the "fruit basket" (white cake with FRESH berries) and chocolate cream with fudge swirl. White fondant on the outside. We gave them a picture of the design we wanted and it came out perfect!!! It was our perfect wedding cake!

The cake was PERFECT! It was so good we couldn't keep guests away from it. I would recommend them to anyone. It was fresh and soooooo delicious! It was like heaven in your mouth. Worth every penny!!

If you know bread basket, you know they have the best cakes ever! Particularly with their signature fruit filling. Yum! Plus, you get a free 6 inch cake on your 1 year anniversary!

I really love their cakes- everyone loved the cake at our wedding it was absolutely wonderful.

The only suggestion I would make is to over order. We asked if our cake would serve everyone and were assured that it would easily do so. Day of, there were some people who got only slivers of cake, instead of a whole piece. No complaints about quality, just make sure you order extra.

After hours of research online and a visit to Hanson's Bakery on Ventura (where we were not offered a beverage or a fork or labeled versions of the cake slices), I found Bread Basket Bakery in Camarillo. If you are having a wedding near Malibu, this is the best cake around. The Berry Basket cake has a whipped cream filling and fresh strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries. We ordered the white Berry Basket cake with white chocolate fondant. We supplied them with a picture of a Martha Stewart cake with fern and other items and they were able to copy it and actually make it look better than the original. The cake looked beautiful and people are still raving about how delicious it was! Note: Bread Basket also offers a small version of the same kind of cake (free) for your first anniversary!

I use Bread Basket for all my events, so it was an obvious choice to use them for my wedding cake! I hate to admit it, but as usual, the cake stole the show. Bread Basket cakes demand attention and come out flawless every time. I had complete trust in them to create a masterpiece.

In regards to a previous review: if the couple had read their agreement correctly, they would clearly understand the "Free Anniversary Cake" agreement. It states in black and white that the Bread Basket does not offer you a replica of your wedding cake, but a beautiful, standard 6" cake. As I have stated before, I am a frequent Bread Basket customer and I know for a fact, the free cake is valued at around $35, so I think it is a very good deal.

Our cake was beautiful, and very delicious, but the best part of our experience was, that we only ordered our cake 2 weeks before our wedding because of a mix up from someone who was supposed to make it flaked, and we had to scramble to find someone else, and while other places laughed me off the phone as i called down the yellow pages, when i called the Bread Basket, they were professional and courteous and took our order and immediately set a tasting appointment for the next day, and we placed our order right after our tasting and the cake was completed and delivered to the wedding on time and perfect.
Only con was the price being a little high, but cant complain too much for the prompt service and great product!

My only complaint is that they keep $100.00 deposit for a $10 cake plate that you have to return. Our venue lost one of the cake plates, so I didn't get the entire deposit back.

The Bread Basket, did a wonderful job, we got nothing but compliments. We brought in a picture and they recreated it to perfection. They were the only bakery to provide four full size pieces of cake when were sampling so we could share w/family at home. They treated us very well.

I booked my cake two weeks before my wedding. Yes its expensive, but best tasting cake ever! The delivery girl dropped off the cake an hour earlier than scheduled, but that's okay-better than late!

I got my wedding cake from them back in February. I was of course delighted with my cake. They were very helpful, they gave me exactly what I wanted and I got a really good price. The reason I chose them was because of their reputation for amazing cake. My mom and I went to the tasting and they were VERY nice. They brought us 4 or 5 giant slices of cake to try - which meant i got to take them home for my dad and brother to try too - and all of them were over the top good. I am not a cake person but you can taste the quality in their cakes. I canceled my other tasting appointments it was THAT good. SO SO SO good. I would not have used ANYONE else!! Bread basket all the way baby!

Our cake tasted amazing. We had a four tier cake with alternating flavors. Originally we thought we were going to get butter cream frosting, but later they said that they couldn't do it for structural reasons. It was a big cake. The only hiccup was we had requested fresh fruit on the top of the cake, but it did not make it on there. Our florist came in and made it pop, but the cake didn't really need it. It looked great. We can't wait for our anniversary to get some more of their cake.

The cake tasting was a bit of a non-personal assembly line. This was not an important area for us. We ordered blueberry and strawberry filling and the cake had rasberry filling. However, the cake tasted great. You have to return the cake pillars or there is $100 fee so make sure you get them back at the end of the night. We had 140 guests and they charge you by the piece. We ordered for 115 guests and the amount was perfect and we had the topper left.

This was the best wedding cake ever!
Beautiful, super professional, and built it from two photos that we wanted blended to make the exact cake we wanted.
The only issue was that we told them that we had a certain number of people, and they should have told us to order 60-80% of our total guests. We didn't know that not everyone eats cake and ended up with about $500 of uneaten cake.

So we are still eating it, and it's still amazing, but the courtesy of a lower price point due to a better estimation as a courtesy thought when we were ordering would have been appreciated!

Overall: Love it!

Cake was AMAZING, everyone that had it at the wedding asked where it was from. They delivered and set up beautifully. The only thing I would have changed is the ivory color was more of a cream/beige color so the cake copper did not match. Other than the cake was everything I wanted it to be!

The cake was fantastic! It was such a beautiful cake that everyone thought it was fake. Everyone couldn't have enough! We had one layer of the raspberry chocolate mouse and two layers of the fruit basket. We really recommend this place for any occasion.

We have a BB in our hometown, and the cake was AMAZING!!!! We had tons left and by the time we came back from our honeymoon, the cake was still good!!! You can create and design your own, and no two will be alike! They went over and beyond what they were suspose to do!

The flexibility is where there was none. They do not deliver on saturday unless its a wedding cake. I purchased $400 worth of cakes but it didnt qualify. Other than that these cakes are amazing in taste!!

We decided to go with the Bread Basket Cake Company because of their reputation and quality. We were able to do a taste of 4 different cakes before selecting the one we wanted to use for the wedding. The cake slices we had were amazing.

They matched our colors exactly, and the cake was perfect. I'm not a big fan of wedding cakes, but this one is worth it. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the fondant, but that's because I'm not a 'cake person.' We had to return the cake stands in order to get our refund. Everything went as planned. Our cake was expensive, and I wished we had ordered less since there was so much left over.

Bread Basket did a fantastic job on our cake! It was beautiful and delicious! We received many compliments; including it was the best wedding cake many of the guests ever tasted. We were able to make changes to the size and colors up to a week before the wedding. The cake was delivered and set up on time at our venue.

This is my only warning: A friend of mine also had her wedding cake done by Bread Basket. She cautioned me to make sure I got their promises in writing; specifically the guaranteed one-layer replica of our cake for our first anniversary. My friends experience was difficult until she threatened to write an article in the local paper. Bread Basket did eventully make good on their promise and provide her the one-layer cake to look like the top layer of her original cake for her first anniversary. I did get the promise in writing; including the need to bring in a picture of the wedding cake one week before our anniversary. Following our wedding I wanted to just confirm that there would be no issue so, when I went in to return the pillars and plates to get my deposit back, I asked the question. I was told at that time that they would not honor any promise to duplicate one layer of the cake. That instead, they would provide a pre-made Special Anniversary Cake that would look nothing like our original cake. Well, I do have it in writing so I expect them to fulfill their promise when the time comes.

We stumbled upon the Bread Basket Cake Company when my cousin got married a few years ago. I never forgot how good his cake was. After having a little bit of cake drama of my own, I decided last minute to go with the Bread Basket for my wedding cake. Their classic fruit basket white cake with buttercream frosting was delicious! They even added a white chocolate shell to the outside the cake which made it even better than it already was! Guests at my wedding were raving aobut the cake and were asking for seconds! What they couldn't believe was how good the cake was for the price! I would definitely recommend them if you are on a budget and want a beautiful and tasty cake for your wedding. We can't wait for our one year anniversary so we can dig into our own little cake again!

The Bread Basket Bakery in Camarillo is notorious for their delicious cakes for a reason: their cakes are delicious!!! Our cake was as beautiful as it was tasty, and was definitely a hit with our guests. I highly recommend the "fruit basket" filling, which is fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries) mixed with french whipped cream, sandwiched betweeen two layers of moist cake. Mmmmm... Didn't have any problems ordering, changing my order, or having the cake delivered and set up. All in all, a good experience, and a great cake. They are a bit pricier than other cake bakeries in the area, but the quality really comes through their work.

We ordered our wedding cake from here. Cake tasting experience was good. We tasted four of their standard cakes and could make our selection from there. Our actual wedding cake tasted like the tasting samples we ate, which we had heard doesn't always happen. Cakes includes local, fresh berries and you can taste the difference. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful.

The cake was very tasty. My husband and I were able to be involved partially in the design of our cake. It was absolutely beautiful! It did not quite serve the amount of people we expected it to but we were pleased. They are pricey but most things wedding are. They delivered to our Santa Barbara location for a minimal transport fee, and the cake arrived safe and sound. We are due for our free six inch wedding cake on our first year anniversary! Yum! So excited! Thank you Bread Basket Cake Bakery!

Everyone loved our cake! The bread basket created an amazing looking cake (that looked just like the picture I brought in) that tasted amazing. They were very easy to work with.

Our cake was beautiful, however, not very much communication with them. Our tasting was rushed and there was not a person "assigned" to us to keep in contact with. When I had questions, different people helped me (never got the same person). But the overall look and taste of the cake was great! Thanks Bread Basket!

Bread Basket makes delicious cakes! My only complaint is that they are VERY EXPENSIVE. My cake was very pretty; however, the color of the teal frosting I asked for was so dark that it almost looked black. That's okay though! Everyone really liked my cake and it tasted great.

I had the good fortune of having 5-star vendors for my entire wedding... everyone made everything perfect.

However, I had the worst experience ever with the Bread Basket. When we showed up for our cake tasting appointment, they kept us waiting for 45 minutes, and finally tossed 2 slices of cake our way. After tasting them, no one took the time to help us design our cake. We left upset and determined to find a more hospitable baker. After tasting other surrounding bakeries, we decided the Bread Basket had the best tasting cake, by far! So we went back and ordered our simple little wedding cake from them. I say simple because it was 2 tiers, white fondant, with white pearls cascading.... what we got was a 2-tier cake with white fondant, and green pearls at the base. After countless calls to the bakery to confirm our order - they still messed it up!

Further, they arrived 2 hours late. I'm told by my wedding planner AND florist that this bakery is consistently late to weddings... they just don't care about the customer's needs.

With that being said, if you book your cake's delivery time 2 hours ahead of schedule, your cake should arrive in time for your reception. As for the design being incorrect, well, this was a great way to start practicing patience in my marriage. It wasn't worth crying over, especially because my guests all crooned over the fantastic taste!

To go with this bakery for your wedding, you need to decide what's important: if taste is priority, they will not disappoint. If good customer service is your objective, I'd recommend you stear clear of this bakery at all costs!

We tried to explain to the employees at The Bread Basket that we were planning our California wedding from Florida and would not be in town until three days before the wedding. We were told we would not be able to schedule a tasting that close to the wedding. We said fine, could we schedule a tasting around Christmas-time, when we would be visiting my fiance's relatives? We were told no, because they would be very busy, but we could pay $5 per flavor if we wanted to come in and sample flavors at that time. Really? $5 per flavor? When we are plunking down over $800, they begrudged us what, like $20 to try out 4 different flavors? So we said forget it, how about if we have my fiance's mother, who lives in California, come in and do the tasting for us closer to the wedding. They said no, tastings can only be done for the bride and groom. At this point, we gave up.

While we were completely appalled and thoroughly disgusted with the inflexibility and generally obnoxious business practices of the Bread Basket, we chose to go with them because my fiance's mother vouched for the quality of their cakes. To their credit, the cake looked absolutely beautiful, and while the flavor was not what I would have chosen had I been given the opportunity to actually choose a flavor, it wasn't bad.

I wouldn't recommend Bread Basket for wedding cakes. As wedding vendors, they don't really have it together. But for birthday cakes or anniversary cakes, they are perfectly adequate.

Pros: Very tastey cake. One of the best I've ever had. Matched what I wanted on my cake; however my cake was for 14 people and a design I picked out of their display case. $45 for a 9" cake (not bad...Remember I said it was one of the best I ever had).
Cons: Things don't run smooth behind the counter. It looks like they had teenagers running the place with no suppervision. At one point I had to change the size of my cake and they lost my order. I had already paid for my cake and they had no record of it. An hour later, one of the older teenagers found the purchase slip and oder form (thank God!). The workers their don't seem to know how to handle their customers (either they don't care or don't understand what customer service is). Last but not least, they are able to dealiver a cake 4 hrs away to San Diego but they couldn't drive 3 hrs to San Luis Obispo because it was too far??? My wedding was beautiful but small and simple. I had about 5 weeks to plan it by myself and if I had more time I would have went somewhere else.

The cake we received did not at all resemble the samples we had tried and the entire cake was a disaster despite ordering almost a year in advance with precise pictures, instructions, the purchase of the embellishments that cost over $100 on their own that we paid for that they cut and threw together and 3 meetings to make sure the cake would be perfect! We were so excited about this cake and were extremely disappointed by what was delivered. The cake was so poorly put together we had to push the cake up against a wall to hide all the defects. Following up with the GM was less than stellar she really didn’t seem to care one way or another. They felt no need to stand behind the quality of their products. We strongly recommend considering another baker for wedding cakes.

My wedding cake was delivered with seams exposed on all 4 tiers and cracks on 2 of the 4 tiers. When looking at a side profile, you could see lumps and just looked awful, which in the pictures on their website or when you go into the store, have none. The cake was dry and tasted nothing like the cake we were given to taste. The girl that dropped the cake off, simply dropped it off and took off. When the day of coordinator saw the cake, she immediately called the emergency number that was given to me when I ordered the cake and the line had been disconnected. The store was closed as my wedding was on a Sunday. My maid of honor and day of coordinator took pictures of the damaged cake and then had to put flowers on the cracks to hide them from the guest and me the bride. The maid of honor (paid for my cake) and when she returned the cake pedestals, she asked to speak to the owner, but they were not in. She asked for a manager and they weren't there either. She dropped of the pedestals and the pictures of the damaged cake. When she finally was able to speak to the manager, they didn't care how the cake was delivered and said we caused the cracks by putting flowers on the cake. First off, we weren’t even suppose to have flowers on the cake and secondly, since when is the customer wrong???? We were told we would only received $50 for our compensation. $50.00???? REALLY????? The cake was almost $800.00. They said they took photos of the cake when they dropped it off. We asked to see the photos and they said no, that wasn’t going to happen. So basically, they know the cake was broken, damaged, looked awful but instead of telling the coordinator, they just dropped it off and ran taking NO responsibility for their mistake or business!!!!! We have had to hound them about the deposit and compensation, which we still have not received. BRIDES….. hope this doesn’t happen to you!!!!
