    Best venue

Most amazing wedding venue! From the moment we checked in on Friday, until we left on Sunday we were treated so well by the entire BWM staff. They were so accommodating to myself and all of my guests.

Rachel, Luke, and Sarah were fabulous from day 1. Luke gave us our venue tour, as Rachel was out on maternity leave and he always remembered us moving forward anytime we went for dinner. Rachel was always so sweet and really went above and beyond to take care of us. Sarah was great and was always available to answer my crazy questions. She even allowed me to place our groomsmen, family, etc in specific rooms.

The day of the wedding our special bride and groom champagne glasses broke, I had no idea until I noticed different ones at our head table during dinner! Rachel went out of her way when she saw ours broke, grabbed us new ones and didn’t even mention it! I had no idea! Not just any venue would do that.. Rachel and her staff put on an amazing event and I would highly suggest any potential bride and groom to have their special day here. Food, views, rooms, and planning process were all amazing!!

Beautiful Backdrop for an Amazing Wedding

Blue Water Manor is absolutely the most beautiful place in Lake George for a wedding. My husband and I searched for places that worked for us, including accommodating a wedding party of dogs! The grounds, landscaping, coy pond and the views of Lake George are awesome and unique. We worked with Rachel on the event planning and she was great! Reassuring us that everything was under control - it was! (Thank you!) Our wedding was everything we hoped for - wonderful staff, food was delicious and backdrop was absolutely amazing.

I wish I could give 6 stars for every category here! The Blue Water Manor provided my husband and I with the absolute best service we could have asked for. From Tom making sure we were well taken care of (and in good "spirits"), to Luke playing body guard so no stragglers got in the way of my photographer, we were truly made to feel like royalty. We replanned our entire wedding in one month, and Luke and his team were more than accommodating. The menus offered were more than enticing, and I wish we could've had them all. We decided on the private room attached to the Tavern On the Lake for our reception, and it was the best decision we could've made. Our guests got to enjoy the privacy and comfort while still enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lake George. The kitchen staff were able to allow us to take our time through the ceremony and pictures (hint: brides give yourselves 2 hours for photos, not the recommended one) and still have our dinners hot and ready when we were. And speaking of photos, the backdrop of this resort is to die for. With the lake and mountains behind us as we said our vows we couldn't have asked for better pictures (which I will post when we get them).

I would like to give a special shoutout to Rachel for saving the day for finding my MIA flowers.

Overall, Luke and the Blue Water Manor team made our special day even more perfect. We absolutely loved it, and would recommend it to anyone!

Get married here, have your guests stay anywhere else

This is a hard one for me to write. On September 18th my fiance and I had the most beautiful wedding at Bluewater Manor. Rachel, the banquet manager, really did an amazing job. Everything about our ceremony and reception turned out great... However our experience with the Lodges and the process of getting to this point we're absolute torture.
Throughout the wedding planning process Rachel was impossible to get a hold of. Emails would go unanswered for weeks and calls were never returned. I understand that they are currently short staffed but this was crazy. My fiance's aunt was trying to arrange to have a breakfast the day after and she could not get a hold of Rachel or get any questions answered either. She had to physically show up and corner hard to get any answers. So while Rachel is incredibly good at her job, the lack of communication was a serious issue.
Sarah, the hotel manager, is another story completely. From day one she was almost impossible to get hold of. I have emails from January that we're not addressed until April. There were problems starting at check in. Even though I had been told I could assign people to specific rooms they went ahead and moved people around as they saw fit, without mentioning it to me or the guest. I understand trying to accommodate multiple people, but if the bride sister is supposed to be in the room next door to the bride and groom maybe don't move that person.
When my cousin checked into her room there was a pair of men's underwear on the floor. This was not a big deal to anyone. And even the owner asked "but was the room dirty?" As if they're being underwear on the floor in the middle of pandemic isn't an automatic yes, it's dirty. Another friend checked into his room and the towel holder fell off the wall. He told the front office, it was never fixed. In our room you had to literally shoulder check the front door to have it close, and the bathroom door looked like someone had tried to break in. Something that was mentioned to me after the fact when I started asking if anyone else had any issues with their rooms, is apparently multiple people had sheets with blood stains on them or generally found the rooms not to their anticipated standards.
This is where things get spicy. In my opinion, backed by what I was told by many of my friends, the majority of the rooms in our block were overcharged. I was only able to get them to address my immediate family, but out of those four rooms every single one needed a refund.
Sarah kept saying everything was a "honest, simple, human mistake" which I believe is referenced in other people's reviews. But the funny thing is, when it keeps happening it's not so simple. After I kept pushing that rooms needed refunding I was eventually told the owner would call me.
John Henry did indeed call me. And proceeded to immediately start screaming and cursing at me on the phone. Telling me we weren't welcome back on the property, that he wishes we had never had our wedding there. And that I was absolutely wrong about my family being overcharged. Oh and when I mentioned the blood stain sheets, "he said he didn't care, he didn't want to hear it, it was all after the fact".
Funny but the several hundred dollars of refunds seem to contradict that. I ended up telling all of my guests that if the numbers for their rooms didn't make sense they should just do a chargeback.
I've also filed a complaint with the Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce, Department of Health, BBB, and I'm taking suggestions if you beautiful people can think of anywhere else.
And since I already know how John and Sarah operate, I'm sure they'll respond to this review with whatever nonsense they can come up with. But I have receipts, I'm happy to share all of my email communications, all of my contracts, and all the invoices with anyone and everyone who asks.
They have ruined the memories of my wedding. Which is something I'll never get back. Do yourself a favor, go anywhere else.
