Sue & Blue Ridge Catering were by far the best decision we made during our wedding planning process. From our first conversation over the phone where Sue thoroughly explained our options while respecting our budget to the well organized in-person tasting to the set-up and execution the day of. Sue kept us organized and on track throughout our entire wedding planning process. She went above and beyond to make helpful suggestions based on her past experience. She provided additional comfort and encouragement when planning got tough. Not only did she do all of this from the beginning despite us planning our Virginia wedding from Florida, but she remained flexible and helpful throughout our challenges of rescheduling and downsizing our wedding. While wedding planning can be stressful, especially amidst a global pandemic, Sue’s expertise and comforting attention to detail made the bumps in the road seem more manageable. In addition to all of her help leading up to the wedding, the support from her and her staff during our wedding weekend was exceptional. Their organization, friendliness and attentiveness were just what we needed and I am sure it wouldn’t have been the same without them. We had Sue and her team cater for both our rehearsal dinner and reception. All of our guests enjoyed the food and service! We particularly liked the Southern Fried Chicken and Grilled Petit Tender offered by Chef Shawn. If you are still looking for a catering team in the Charlottesville area then don’t overlook Blue Ridge Catering! If we had to do this all over again then we would work with Sue and her team in a heartbeat! -

I had been planning my wedding with Sue for, I kid you not, around 2.5 years. Not only did she deal with my questions about the most random things and emails with no context, but her team also provided me with the best food possible for my wedding. We got so many compliments about the food, the drinks, the staff, the bartender (he was a MASSIVE hit), and overall how amazing the wedding was. I don't think my dream wedding would have been as great as it was if we didn't use this vendor as a part of our team. A huge thank you to Sue. If you're looking to hire this vendor to cater or manage your wedding day, do it! You will not regret a second of it. They are AMAZING. -

I HIGHLY recommend Blue Ridge Cafe & Catering Co.! Sue was so helpful throughout the process. I had a million and one questions in the months leading up to my wedding. I also had certain things I wanted and Sue worked to include those items within my budget. On top of the amazing customer service, the food was a hit! It was absolutely delicious and our guests were raving about it. I am so happy with our decision to hire Sue and her crew! -

Like many couples, our wedding was postponed (twice) due to COVID-19. Sue Dickau and the BRCC team were flexible, reliable and great communicators as we navigated the challenges of wedding planning during COVID. Overall, BRCC was one of our absolute favorite vendors to work with and I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with Sue, Chef Shawn and the team. Sue has a true talent for what she does. She is extremely responsive and on top of every detail, no matter how big or small. On the day of the event, the entire BRCC team went above and beyond our expectations to ensure everything went smoothly. Although Sue wasn't able to be the point person at our event, the rest of the team were fantastic. Our guests raved about the delicious food and wonderful service. Wow. My (new!) husband and I don’t know where to begin in thanking Sue Dickau and recommending her and Blue Ridge Cafe and Catering to others. Hire Sue and BRCC! Sue was our day-of coordinator and BRCC handled all our wedding day catering and bar tending needs (so Sue was our POC there as well and coordinated our catering). We had bbq and it was DELICIOUS. The chef is a true professional and the catering staff was seamless and efficient. In terms of coordinating, our wedding was flawless only because Sue handled every single hiccup on the day. Of course there were little things that went wrong (or moments we forgot to plan for) because it’s not possible to plan for everything, but no one would have known! Sue was professional, fast, efficient, and knew every detail of our day. Sue is extremely experienced and involved us minimally; she even kept us on-time when we did everything we could to mess that up for her. She had it all under control and was a joy to work with before and during. Any guest who interacted with her told us the same. Can’t say enough about wonderful Sue and BRCC!! -

We were so happy with everything Blue Ridge provided for our downsized wedding! The on-site space was absolutely beautiful, and made for a great backdrop for our micro-reception. Sue went above and beyond to help us coordinate everything, and we had a smooth process from start to finish. The buffet dinner was delicious, with fall-off-the-bone chicken, broccoli with orange butter, and salad + hors d’oeuvre, etc. The service for the dinner was also wonderful; everyone we encountered was welcoming and helpful.
Blue Ridge also provided box lunches for our picnic wedding, which were absolutely delicious! I probably ate about 5 turkey croissants the day after :) -

We hired Blue Ridge Cafe to cater our wedding before the world shut down. We signed a contract with a very high bill and they had every right to make us follow that said contract. BUT they did not, they worked with us to help us still have our dream wedding. They were flexible and understanding about everything. We met with Sue many times (through zoom) to discuss our wedding, what we wanted it to be like and our level of comfort. Somewhat at the last minute, we changed our wedding from 150 people buffet to a 40 person plated dinner with no problem. Sue and her crew did a wonderful job following our guidelines on wearing a mask, washing hands and doing their best job to stay 6 feet away when possible. They was also a misunderstanding about our cake (Blue Ridge cut the wrong cake) and they went out of their way to get more icing to fix it. We have been married for a little over a month now and people are still talking about the bacon wrap scallops, the perfectly cooked beef and the delicious chicken.
About two days after our wedding, my mom received an email with pictures that the crew took of my husband and I that are still some of our favorite pictures. The crew was amazing, kind and very sweet.
I can not say it enough, Blue Ridge did an amazing job with our wedding. If you are still looking for a cater, set up an appointment with Sue and your mind will be made up. -

I simply cannot say enough great things about Sue Dickau and her staff from Blue Ridge Cafe. We hired them for our daughter's wedding in Downtown Charlottesville and we couldn't be happier with the choice. The food was perfect, the table set-ups were gorgeous, they handle all extra rental needs for you, they were flexible with needed changes due to Covid, and Sue's staff's kindness is beyond anything I've seen in a long time..... I could go on all day! Every single member of the team made us feel like family! Sue is so professional, and her calm demeanor is exactly what every bride and mom need during these crazy times. I can't wait to plan daughter #2's wedding one day!! -

Sue and her team did a fantastic job! The food was excellent (beautiful and tasted good). They were flexible as we had to switch dates and then venues in order to go forward with our wedding in August 2020. The price was more than reasonable for the services provided! We had a few guests who were gluten free and vegan. Sue worked with the chef to create custom meals for those guests at no extra charge. I can't say enough good things about the Blue Ridge Cafe Team! -

Sue at Blue Ridge Cafe did a great job as the caterer for our 2020 wedding. We had to postpone by a few months due to covid restrictions and she switched to the new date without hesitation. I wasn't working with a wedding planner and Sue was patient enough to walk me through many of the details involved with planning such a large event. The food was wonderful and many of my guests complimented how polite and professional the staff was. They also assisted with set up and clean up which was a huge help to us. -

For the past year, my husband and I have had the pleasure of working with Sue Dickau and the staff of Blue Ridge Cafe & Catering. From first outreach, Sue was always quick in response and incredibly easy to work with! She has been in the industry for many years and her professionalism and exemplary customer service show it. Beyond this, the food was AMAZING. After leaving our tasting, we were already looking forward to having more and felt the confidence that we were in good hands! People could not stop talking about how delicious everything was. We were pretty excited to be able to take any leftovers home with us except for the fact that there weren't any (other than the care package that she made sure to put aside for each of us in the event that we didn't get a chance to eat)!! We honestly loved working Blue Ridge Cafe and Catering. Should we ever host an event out that way again, we would not think twice about reaching out! -

It is hard to put into words how great our experience was with Blue Ridge Cafe & Catering! We were initially drawn to their hometown menu and feels but were blown away by the amount of effort and support they put into our wedding day. We had met with other caterers but never walked away feeling comfortable. After our first meeting with Sue, the catering director, we knew we had found a gem! Sue was so organized and worked with every idea we had to make our wedding day exactly what we wanted. From initial tastings to finalized menus we loved every single thing we tried! The bourbon glazed pork and mac' n cheese were such a huge hit! The food was fantastic but really the best part about Blue Ridge Cafe & Catering is the staff. Chef Shawn cooked on site and the staff took care of set up, clean up, food service, rentals, bartending... anything and everything!! Most importantly, we used Sue Dickau as our day of coordinator and she is a DREAM to work with!! Wedding planning can be stressful but we had so much contact with Sue throughout the planning process that by the day of our wedding it felt like she was a family member. Even when met with unexpected delays and rain, Sue had a solution. She was right on top of everything and effortlessly kept her cool, which eased so much anxiety for us. Truly our wedding day would not have been the same without Sue and the Blue Ridge Cafe staff. By far, the best decision we made!!! -

The food and service at Blue Ridge Cafe and Catering Co. is awesome! There is something on the menu for everyone. Since we went with an outside rustic wedding, we chose more traditional dishes. The food was delicious, served on time and heated to perfection, the staff was professional, friendly and so eager to please. BRC&C rates a 10 from beginning to end.

Sue and Shawn were great through out the entire wedding process. They were very receptive to our (many) emails about clarification, numbers, choices or changes. The food was good and there was a good amount of it for each person. The wait staff they hired were very polite and attentive. They are very reasonably priced! -

I live in DC and was getting married near Staunton, VA and Sue worked with me even though I was remote and the wedding location was over an hour from their home base. We were able to drive out and do a tasting, which I highly recommend, and move forward with our item choices after we had a chance to taste everything we were interested in. I was interested in heavy apps for our cocktail hour and she helped me pick out a variety of them and the correct number for my size wedding. She was incredibly flexible with me as I changed the count of items numerous times, including in the month before the wedding. Her crew at the wedding was very professional and made sure we were able to flow from cocktail hour into dinner smoothly (even though we had to push everything into the same space because of hurricane weather outside). Sue also worked with me to create a Taco bar, which I loved. Everything from contacting Blue Ridge, to their flexibility was amazing and if you need a stress free caterer, I highly recommend them. -

When we met Sue for the first time, we felt very reassured that she would lead our wedding day catering & rentals, as she had so much experience and gave us great advice from the beginning. Plus, the food we had at the tasting was GREAT! Sue worked with our budget, and I definitely feel like Blue Ridge Cafe offers wonderful food and service for your dollar. Leading up to the wedding, Sue worked through every detail with us with kindness and great guidance - even as we changed ideas. The team worked so well with what our venue space provided, even though they hadn't worked at a wedding there before, and on the day of the wedding everything moved seamlessly! On the day of, Sue even helped set up our tables and offered her own table numbers when ours were clearly not suitable for the wind in our outdoor venue :) The staff was very friendly at the wedding, and we were extremely pleased with the food we had at the reception! Overall, I would highly recommend Sue and Blue Ridge Cafe!

Sue was such an amazing help throughout the entire process, and always responded to emails in a timely manner. She answered every question I had, and had a solution for every "problem." I was confident going into the wedding day that everything would be taken care of. The staff set up the tables and chairs for us, and were so professional and accommodating throughout the night. The food was delicious and we received many compliments. If you're looking for reasonably priced caterer with excellent service, look no further! -

Nancy Sent on 06/12/2017WOW! We had Blue Ridge Cafe cater our wedding and we are so glad we did. We had a buffet style along with tasty appetizers that were a huge hit during cocktail hour. The food was amazing. Make sure you try their BBQ beef brisket during your tasting - everyone at the wedding couldn't stop talking about it! Aside from the food, the service was incredible. Sue and her staff were so professional and accommodating. One of the staff members was always checking on us and bringing us additional food and drinks during the entire reception.
Planning was also incredibly easy. Sue Dickau, the Catering Sales Director was there for us every step of the way and was constantly checking up on us and making any necessary changes we needed leading all the way up to the day before the wedding. Make sure when you call, you ask for Sue and you will be in good hands. I cannot thank Blue Ridge enough for the quality of service.

We had some less traditional requests for the food (live fajitas bar, and other fun stations), which were a little risky, but absolutely paid off. I thought the food was amazing and I only heard rave comments from our guests. -

Seriously amazing service from wedding planning start to execution. Sue was professional and efficient at communicating with me, the venue, and my day-of coordinator. When I met her during our walk through 6 weeks before wedding day, she put me at ease with her obvious experience in catering. The tasting she organized was great and the chef was also super accommodating and friendly both during the tasting and on site during the wedding. Sue handled an inventory problem with my linen close to wedding time and organized all my rentals effortlessly with my day-of coordinator. Staff working were warm and professional and I received many compliments on the food provided - buffet style. Setup and breakdown all went according to plan and on time. Blue Ridge Cafe is well worth every dollar. Thank you Sue!!
