Blue Plate is the way to go! They were helpful, responsive, professional and most importantly, the food was delicious! We went with the taco bar and everyone was happy! My biggest fear was the food being lukewarm, but Gary assured me it'd be hot and he was right! I highly recommend having them cater your wedding...a great experience from start to finish! -

We used Blue Plate Catering for our wedding and were extremely pleased with the entire experience! They were already very familiar with our venue, The Tinsmith, the menu sounded delicious, and the prices were more than reasonable so we were excited to work with them. We needed appetizers, plated dinner service, water/coffee/tea, linens, napkins, and cutlery. David and his team were so helpful and went above and beyond to make our day perfect. They proposed a menu sensitive to dietary restrictions (so many gluten-free options!), offered a great color selection of linens and napkins to match our color palette, scheduled a tasting, coordinated delivery of our desserts from a local bakery, and let us pick up our linens the day before so setting up decor wouldn’t be delayed. On our wedding day, Jon, and Cecilia, our event and server leads, ensured that food preparation, timing, and service were outstanding and seamless. We got so many compliments about all of the food from our guests and their bacon wrapped chorizo dates are an absolute must. Highly recommend Blue Plate to cater any event! -

We booked Blue Plate for our wedding on 1/25/25 and the service was amazing! Gary helped us throughout the booking process and communication was incredible. The day of the wedding, Blue Plate arrived on time to the venue and had everything set up quickly. The passed appetizers were great and the pasta buffet we had for dinner was a hit! The onsite staff was very attentive and friendly to everyone. We had food leftover after dinner, and the staff packaged it up for us to take home afterwards! I highly recommend booking BluePlate for your wedding! -

We loved working with Blue Plate for our wedding. The whole process was extremely low stress and pleasurable. From tasting to making last minute changes to the actual wedding, everything was completely seamless. These guys are absolute pros. We worked with Gary for our menu and tasting and had Nikki as our event lead, both of whom were great! We didn't have to worry about one thing on our special day and we're extremely grateful for that! We would absolutely recommend Blue Plate to anyone looking to cater a large event. We had Blue Plate cater our 150 person wedding and we cannot recommend them enough! Gary, and the entire team, were wonderful to work with and they made the whole experience easy and seamless! Gary was able to work through all our questions with us, help us proactively address potential issues we didn't think of during the planning process, and the food, servers, and bartenders were all wonderful on the day! -

Our catering experience for our June 2024 wedding was wonderful, thanks to Gary and the rest of the Blue Plate catering team. From the hors d'oeuvres to the main courses, every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The catering staff was attentive, ensuring that all our guests—150 in total—were well taken care of and served promptly. They also went above and beyond to accommodate special dietary needs. We received many compliments from our guests about both the timeliness of service and the quality and taste of the food. We highly recommend Blue Plate for any catering needs. -

We hired Blue Plate as our wedding caterer and their meals we just as good as we knew they'd be after our tasting. Everything was cooked perfectly, and all of our guests' dietary restrictions were met without error. The plated dinner service went incredibly smoothly, and we were especially pleased to find a sampling of the passed appetizer we had missed during our cocktail hour waiting for us at our head table. We had several guests come up to us during and after dinner to tell us how good their food was, so we know it wasn't just our meals that were prepared with care. We also rented table linens, napkins, China, and flatware with Blue Plate and everything looked lovely. Easy 5 stars – we’d recommend Blue Plate for any event and especially for an event as important as a wedding. -

My wife and I had the pleasure of working with and enjoying Blue Plate for our wedding cocktail hour, reception and late night snack. They had so many great options to choose from no matter the style of dinner we wanted, or how we wanted appetizers for our cocktail hour. We had so many rave reviews from all three aspects they were involved from our guests. David was very attentive to our consultation calls and emails that it made our wedding planning very smooth. Highly recommend Blue Plate Catering for any event, big or small. -

Working with David at Blue Plate for our rehearsal dinner and wedding was incredible start to finish. While they offered plenty of options for those that aren't sure where to start, they also let us design an almost completely custom menu, encouraged and took all the feedback at multiple tastings, and made sure both events ran smoothly. Not only was the food delicious (we continue to get compliments from our guests), but their customer service was STELLAR. Would recommend to anyone still in search of a caterer. -

Blue Plate, specifically David, was so great to work with when trying to figure out which caterer we wanted to go with for our wedding. They were super up front about everything and helped guide us choose our linens, style of service, and the food without trying to push us into spending more. They are a little pricy but what you pay is definetly worth the price! My wife and I didn't have much time to grab our own hors' d'Oeuvres during cocktail hour, but Blue Plate was on top of it and made sure that we both had one or two of each sitting at our head table as we sat down for dinner. The food itself was so delicious! The chicken tortellini was by far our favorite and we had guests tell us they even went up for thirds because it was so good. We have already recommended Blue Plate to our other friends in Madison, you won't be dissapointed! -

Blue Plate has great food and great service! We had Blue Plate cater a plated dinner followed by dessert and late-night snack bars on February 25th, 2023, at the Field's Reserve in Stoughton WI. The food was wonderful, served hot, and served promptly. The service staff was wonderful. They made sure all the right tables were served first and they came up multiple times in the night to check in with us. They even offered to grab us drinks from the bar. Gary was easy to communicate with and always provided the best customer service. I was hesitant about a meal being cooked off-site, but Blue Plate nailed it. Additionally, their prices are reasonable for the service they are offering in the area. Many of our family and friends are "foodies" who appreciate a good steak and can easily point out a bad one, but Blue Plate managed to wow them. In fact, many our guests came up to us throughout the night and mentioned how much they liked the food. I would recommend Blue Plate for a wedding or any event for that matter. Make sure to try the tortellini with chicken and pesto! -

The only request by the groom for our wedding was a fine steak. Blue Plate came in and fine dined us and our guests which lead to the best dinner party of all times. Our guests were raving about the food and we were flattered by how pampered we were by the BP servers. Our feast could not have been possible without BP and they're the pros! -

We were so pleased with Blue Plate and their staff. We worked closely with Gary who was so responsive and approachable with all of our questions and provided us with needed guidance/recommendations throughout the entire process. He was also so accommodating during our tasting and gave us all of the options requested, as we are foodies and essentially wanted to try everything! He was also so patient with us as we changed our menu several times up until the final decision/head count needed to be made for the event. During our cocktail hour/reception, the staff with Blue Plate were so professional, attentive, and willing to help out at every corner, even asking us Bride and Groom if we needed drink refills, more food, napkins, etc! Food was excellent and delicious also with great flavor and was perfectly warm throughout the whole meal! You will not go wrong by choosing this catering team! -

The Blue Plate Catering staff went above and beyond expectations. Due to my spouse having a health scare earlier in the year, David from Blue Plate was able to provide us with nutritional facts in the food we ordered. At the event, the staff went around to each table and made sure all of our guests were satisfied and asked if they need anything (more food, beverages from our bar service, napkins, etc.). They also took charge and broke down tables and chairs to create space for the dance portion of the reception. Not to mention the food was amazing and exactly what we wanted! -

Blue Plate Catering was everything we wanted and more! Due to COVID, we changed our wedding venue and ended up needing a caterer 4 weeks before our wedding date... this tight of a timeline can be stressful but David was so kind and reassuring. Thanks to David and his team we were able to have a delicious dinner buffet that was served safely to our guests. Blue Plate also helped serve our desserts to guests from our dessert buffet table to prevent any cross contamination. I was very impressed with the can-do attitude and friendliness. David was very accommodating and helped us provide sweat tea for our family members from the south.
The number one thing that stood out to me was how attentive the staff was to the wedding party. I have been in 3 weddings and have never before been able to partake in appetizers, Blue Plate came up to the wedding party both before and after the ceremony, asking if we were hungry (before the ceremony) and brought us a tray of appetizers when we were taking photos during cocktail hour. I was so thrilled to actually be able to eat the appetizers that we had picked out and really appreciated the extra effort from the staff. Thank you Blue Plate Catering, Jon, Greg, Miranda and Lizzie for making our wedding day dreams come true. -

Gary and Blue Plate went above and beyond from the very beginning. In a sort of "worst nightmare" situation, our wedding plans were rocked twice...once by the sudden bankruptcy of our reception venue and then again by the pandemic. In both situations, Blue Plate was professional, supportive, and incredibly flexible. Gary, who we worked with, was so knowledgeable and helped guide us through every step of the way. He was patient, always answered our questions in a timely and friendly manner, and provided amazing customer service! Being from the Madison area, we had both already eaten their food at various events we had frequented over the years, so we knew that was great already, but we were so pleased with the amazing service they provided as we navigated our own wedding planning! We would certainly recommend them to any couple looking for a caterer for their wedding day! -

Blue Plate is AMAZING! David worked with us from day one setting up the tasting and was SO helpful along the way piecing together a menu that truly matched our style. We have gotten so many compliments, even months later about our food at the wedding. For our wedding we went with salmon, BBQ pork chop, and stuffed chicken breast, and all were delicious. The appetizers and late night snacks were a hit amongst the guests as well. We would highly recommend Blue Plate! Customer Service was top notch!! -

The food was just fantastic- even my dad was impressed. Everyone at the wedding commented how delicious, fresh, and (important) easy to eat it was! You know some weddings have tacos and everyone ends up just filthy- not an issue with our fantastic chicken, steak, veggie lasagna, AND even one special made vegan-friendly meal for an uber-healthy friend :)
Tim was super responsive to our messages, responded seamlessly with the RAIN on our wedding day, and really was thorough and transparent on costs, timelines, and day of logistics. I'd recommend them for sure! -

We had a great experience working with Maria for catering our wedding. I loved the variety of options on their menu... we had a taco bar! It was a hit! They are a full service business, so Maria was super helpful with planning. This made the process of making a timeline and all the details much easier to plan. We also did some rentals including chairs through Blue Plate which made it easy to organize everything through them. Great food and great service throughout the whole process. -

We worked with Gary at Blue Plate and had such a wonderful experience! He was responsive and flexible and so knowledgeable about the planning process.
We had two tastings with Blue Plate - one with my (then) fiancé and my two parents and one with just me and my fiancé. The food was excellent both times. We were able to sample three different entrées at each tasting so we could pick the perfect options. They also included different side options so we'd have all the information needed to make the best decision. Such great service!
At the reception on the day itself, everyone we talked to said the food was delicious! In addition, they even helped us set up our tables' minimal decorations (candles and some greenery) and our cupcake display (which we ordered through a different vendor)! Couldn't recommend Blue Plate more! -

We were so happy with Blue Plate Catering for the wonderful job they did catering our wedding in October! Maria and the whole team was great to work with - helpful, detailed, and accommodating. I also really appreciated that Maria took the time to explain everything to us at our tasting/planning meeting. Knowing how Blue Plate usually runs weddings gave us confidence in their ability to coordinate with other vendors and deliver a high quality "product" both in their service and the actual food. Maria was very patient with us throughout the whole process and made a point to ensure my husband and I had a chance to actually eat some of the appetizers on our wedding day. She also checked in with me during the reception to see if everything met my expectations! Truly great service!
The quality of the food was excellent and we received many compliments from our guests. I wanted something a little different than the typical meat, veggies and potato people usually eat at a wedding and Blue Plate had some great ideas! We ended up going with a pasta bar and Maria helped to ensure it was exactly what we wanted! The appetizers were also delicious and beautifully displayed - be sure to ask about the fruit/veggie/cheese/meat/cracker display they can do!
We made some additions to our order a few weeks before the wedding - a popcorn & diet coke bar for my mom's birthday! Not only was the Blue Plate team accommodating to this, they drafted up a separate invoice and helped keep it a surprise until the reception! It ended up being a fun way to honor my mom and I'm so appreciative to Blue Plate for making it come together.
Overall, we were impressed with the professionalism, flexibility, price point, service and quality of food at Blue Plate and would highly recommend them to anyone else! -

We had Gary as our main contact and he was great to work with. He was able to accommodate my request to have a hot cocoa bar at my reception. So many people loved it! From beginning to end I worked with David who is an absolute professional. He was not only professional but a lot of fun! The food was absolutely exceptional! We had a brunch wedding and all the guests I talked to were extremely pleased with our menu provided by Blue Plate. We even rented our chairs for the ceremony from them which made planning a lot easier because we had one less vendor to use. The day of David even helped my husband tie his bow tie because he was having trouble :) Thank you David and everyone at BP Catering for making our day absolutely amazing! -

Being from out of state, it is a little intimidating to plan everything, but Gary was always quick to reply to emails, and to follow-up with a phone call. They accommodated our need for vegan entrees and gave advice and suggestions along the way. From the moment we talked with Gary, we knew we were placing our confidence in the right people. Service, professionalism, flexibility all get an extra thumbs up!
I requested Moscato to be available at the bar, and as a result the bar tender had a glass ready for me whenever I needed it. That was a special surprise!
Oh...and the food was simply delicious! Everyone loved it. It was exactly as delicious as it was at our tasting. I highly recommend the mashed potatoes. You absolutely cannot go wrong with Blue Plate Catering. -
Laurie Sent on 08/12/2018We were happy with Blue Plate Catering. We did a taco bar, and people really enjoyed it. They also provided bartenders, even though we mostly supplied our own beverages, and we used them for the chair rentals as well. On our request, they were able to provide a small number of vegan desserts, which was a big hit with the only vegan guest I talked to about it (she wasn't used to being able to eat dessert at weddings unless she brought it herself).
We did have a minor issue with communication on the day-of, where one request we had made through the salesperson the week before the wedding had not been communicated to the on-site staff people. On the whole, though, it was a good experience and they were very helpful in recommending what things would work well for our number of guests and the vibe we were going for, and updating our order as we changed our mind through the planning process.

My husband and I loved working with David and Blue Plate Catering for our 2023 Wedding. Our original catering company had fallen through and Blue Plate Catering stepped up somewhat last minute and provided our dream Brunch-for-Dinner reception meal at a decent price. We and our guests appreciated the variety as well as the attention to special dietary needs (vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, various allergen options were all given particular attention). Not only was he helpful regarding our reception food, David also provided advice/recommendations regarding venue set-up and suit tailoring (which my husband was extremely appreciative of)! From the tasting to the day of our wedding, David and his team were extremely helpful, kind, and a joy to work with overall. -
