We used Blue Mesa Grill for my daughter's wedding in December of 2025 in the DFW area. It was amazing! We worked with Karen Hartzell who was so incredibly helpful and made the process so easy! They offer many options for different budgets and all of the food was wonderful! Everything went so smoothly from setup to breakdown - I did not have to worry about anything! My husband and I hired Blue Mesa Grill to be our caterer for our wedding day, and the food and service were phenomenal. The staff was so kind to everyone at the event and were very mindful of making sure all the guests got their food on time and were happy! We ordered the Fajita Grill Dinner, and it was absolutely delicious. We were also so happy that they were accommodating of our guests who had dietary restrictions. If you are having a wedding and are thinking of hiring someone to cater your event, Blue Mesa Grill is the way to go. Trust me when I say you won’t be disappointed.Blue Mesa Grill's reply:

Blue Mesa was absolutely incredible and exceeded all of our expectations! From the very first bite, it was clear we made the perfect choice for our wedding catering. Every single guest came up to us raving about how delicious the food was, and that meant the world to us.
The presentation was beautiful, and the food was served warm, fresh, and full of flavor. Every dish tasted amazing and truly elevated our wedding celebration.
Karen was our main point of contact, and she was nothing short of phenomenal. She was always kind, responsive, and incredibly helpful—answering every question with patience and care. She also made it so easy to explore and adjust different food options while staying within our budget, never making us feel stressed or limited. Her flexibility and guidance made the entire planning process smooth, easy, and truly enjoyable.

Blue Mesa was one of the best decisions we made when selecting vendors. I didn’t have to worry about a single thing—Karen was so sweet and kind throughout the entire planning process. As a wedding planner I see so many catering teams. Lyndsey Jensen @ Blue Mesa Grill Fort Worth was so quick and responsive. Staff was so engaging, helpful and on top of everything making sure everything tasted fresh and delicious, especially the sweet potato chips (YUM) Can't wait to have them at our next event!!!

From our first meeting with Karen, she took such wonderful care of us. At the tasting we had a custom menu with our name on it, and all the food we selected - there were so many choices and everything tasted wonderful. As the planning process continued, Karen was always quick to respond to emails and so kind. When the big day finally arrived, everyone raved about the food- I'm so happy we choose Blue Mesa! Can't say enough good things about Blue Mesa. From providing a tasting, to helping with details and presentation, to the yummy catered food. All was excellent, in large part to Karen Hartzell that facilitated it all. She listened, offered suggestions, was responsive and helped make the food portion of the evening. Choosing Blue Mesa Grill as the caterer for our November 2024 wedding was one of the best, and easiest, decisions we made throughout the wedding planning process! The personal touch was what made Blue Mesa such an unforgettable RIGHT choice! Karen Hartzell, Blue Mesa’s catering manager, was an absolute dream to work with. She always provided quick, detailed, polite responses and remained so patient, gracious, and understanding with a very overwhelmed bride! Karen was a much-needed breath of fresh air after months of scouring catering sites and reaching out to potential caterers. Not only is Karen delightful and comforting, but she works to ensure that couples have the best experience possible.
At first, I wasn’t sure that Blue Mesa would fit within our catering budget, but Karen expertly took our budget into consideration and presented us with a few different cost-effective, and delicious, options. Even better? Guests are continuing to talk about Blue Mesa’s food weeks after our wedding. Oh, and Karen even wrangled us a couple of drinks as we were waiting to take photos after the ceremony. My husband and I hired Blue Mesa Grill to cater our wedding reception in August 2024 in Dallas. Karen Hartzell was our point of contact during the planning process, and she went ABOVE and beyond!! She made us feel so taken care of, from the initial tasting all the way through the wedding. She was easily available via phone whenever I had questions. I even needed a few extra things (serving dishes for our desserts and beverage dispensers) and Karen had it covered, and even reassured me in the midst of my wedding planning stress! We chose the street taco bar with full service catering and the food was absolutely delicious. We loved that chips and salsa were included for our cocktail hour. And we even had guests who were planning their own weddings, who later asked for our caterer because they loved the food. The included china, silverware, and cloth napkins all made for beautiful table arrangements, and full service catering meant I could just relax and enjoy the evening. I am a Wedding Planner and have worked numerous events with Blue Mesa as my couple's chosen caterer. No matter what team is sent out for my event, they are always professional and, on their game! Always eager to assist me in any outrageous request that might arise. The food being great is a bonus- the catering teams are divine and dang they are hustlers!!

We had a wedding of about 75. Our food consisted of poblano macaroni balls, mixed quesadilla, chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso. The entrée and sides were a southwestern salad, black bean and corn salad, macaroni & cheese, smoky black beans, carene asada on onions, and the carved turkey with cranberry jalapeno relish. Everything was amazing! The staff was on top of service. The planner, Karen, was extremally helpful and the pricing was very reasonable. Highly recommend!Blue Mesa Grill's reply:

For being a crowd-pleaser, Blue Mesa is reasonably priced. I loved that in conjunction with the delicious fajita buffet we got flatware, silverware, bar staff and supplies, and people to assist with cake cutting, serving, and clean up. My guests were going up for seconds!

I am sooooo glad that decided to go with Blue Mesa for our catering at our wedding! To start, Alicia was absolutely amazing to work with! She was super super helpful when we did our testing, and helped to cater the menu to exactly what we wanted it to be. She allowed us to substitute items that we preferred, to ensure that we had the menu we absolutely wanted. The staff the day of the wedding was awesome! They were very professional, polite and did a great job setting things up and serving. The food was soooooo good, it tasted just as if you were eating at the restaurant. We received many compliments on how great the food tasted and the service was. Overall our experience with Blue Mesa was awesome, and I would definitely use them for catering needs in the future again. -

Blue Mesa customized their appetizer package to meet our needs without going overboard; we couldn't be happier! The restaurant helped us figure out the menu, and we got more for the money than we expected. I especially recommend the pork empanadas. Service included one attendant to keep the buffet tidy. -

When our original caterer fell through a month before our wedding, we booked Blue Mesa Grill the next day with absolutely no stress! We chose the fajita full catering package and it was phenomenal!!! Blue Mesa lets you go in and sample their menu before booking them and trust me, they treat you amazing. One of the things I loved about their catering was that they provided stoneware, silverware, and cloth napkins. During our wedding, me and my husband were served a plate with a little of everything directly to our table. And they even cut our wedding cake for us! Our guests LOVED the food. Our vegetarian, gluten free, and other allergy friends felt very accommodated for! We have been regulars at Blue Mesa for years and were so happy we chose Blue Mesa Grill for our wedding catering! -

Mexican food is just so easy and everyone can find something they like! They were very professional and responsive!
My only compliant, and this is most likely a result of the beautiful corona virus, but my point of contact changed many times which meant repeating myself a lot! But, everyone I worked with was very communicative and understanding! -

Overall, we were fairly pleased with our experience with Blue Mesa. The food was good, the staff was pleasant, and the margarita machine was a hit! Johneshia was easy to work with and was a pleasure at our tasting. However, we did have an issue on the wedding day. We discussed having 1 plate of vegan tacos specially made for my sister since she was our only guest with a dietary restriction. I'm not sure what went wrong, but the vegan tacos were not provided, and she ended up eating chips and salsa for dinner. Everything straight from the menu was good, but you may want to think twice about making special requests. -

Felicia Sent on 05/21/2013It took us some time to receive communication from the catering coordinator, and she was a little slow on getting back to us with things requested. However, I knew this was exactly who I wanted to cater (had to have "elegant" Mexican food) and was willing to understand. We had specific requests for the reception and not only were they late to set up, didn't have enough dinnerware so one server left and we were short a server at meal time, but they also didn't perform the specified request agreed upon. They were tp make us (Bride and Groom) a to-go plate, which they didn't do. We also had Blue Mesa perform our Bar area, and upon breakdown, they tried to take the alcohol we had paid for back with them. The food was amazing, as usual, but the overall service received was well below par and very frustrating as I had heard nothing but great things about their catering prior to our wedding. I will continue to visit the restaurant but will think again before hiring for a large event.
