    Spa Blue filled in last minute for our make-up artist, and they did a wonderful job. Hair and make-up for all the ladies in the bridal party was gorgeous. A great way to start the wedding day!

    Our wedding was absolutely stunning! To help burden the brunt of the process, Blue Chip gives you the service of a wedding planner who is by your side from the very beginning. Cathy gave me reminders and updates to help me stay on track with planning and even gave me a preferred vendor list to help, as well. We were picked up from the church courtesy of Blue Chip. The venue was gorgeous and everything went perfectly the day of--dinner/dancing and then we gambled the rest of the night away! Most of our guests chose to stay at the hotel, as well--so that eliminated the need for transportation and the potential for driving under the influence (open bar and delicious food). So blessed to have had Cathy on my team and not have to worry about the logistics.

    I had a few issues with my hotel room the night of my wedding and the coordinator didn't help with rehersal so I was stuck to do it myself but other then that the actually wedding was very beautiful

    Blue Chip was a great place to have our reception! They took care everything the day of and I didn't have to stress about anything! The food was excellent as well! Kathy was so nice to work with. I'm happy we booked our reception at Blue Chip. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the bars were located just outside the reception doors. So after dinner a lot of guests spent a lot outside in the hallway at the bar getting drinks. I would of rather had the bars located inside the reception

    The reception was awesome and I was very pleased with how the event turned out. However, don't expect a lot of communication with the on-site event coordinator. It took multiple calls and/or emails to get answers to specific questions. Also, if you are staying there for more than the night included in your package be sure to get confirmation for your reservation. We checked in the night before our event and the Front Desk had no record of our reservation for either night. Then the suite ($1200) was accidentally charged to another guest's credit card when he tried to check in the next day. They ended up comping our room for the additional night and sent up a bottle of champagne for the trouble, but it was a rocky start to the weekend. The suite itself was just ok. I felt that it could have been cleaner. It wasn't gross, but it was definitely dusty & not as nice as expected considering the package we purchased. The event itself was beautiful, the food was great and our guests had a wonderful time. I would absolutely choose this venue again if I had it to do over. If you are very detail oriented I would suggest having your own wedding planner or have low expectations when it comes to communication with this venue.

    Spend Your Money Elsewhere

    IF I were a younger, less experienced bride, I would have probably been devastated by the lack of enthusiasm and customer service by this venue. Luckily I am older, wiser & care very little about people who do not enjoy what they do. From my first meeting through the reception there was a lack of communication, little & late response times to emails, phone calls & the overall feeling my wedding was more of an inconvenience than a happy event. Luckily the venue is beautiful, the food was delicious and not a single guest knew what was happening behind the scenes with the staff. On my reception day, I asked my day-of coordinator to speak with the manager about my concerns while I was in hair in make-up. After Cathy refused to speak to my wedding coordinator, telling her flat out "I will not speak to you" she still did not come out of her office to come see what she could help with because, as I was told, she was "with other clients." I made very little requests & consider myself a very laid back person. I got married the week before with a reception & had a completely different & enjoyable experience. So when I write this review, I want you to understand I know things could have been a lot better than the were. On the day of, I asked to show someone (anyone really) how I wanted the tables set so I could go to hair & makeup. Cathy sent two employees in her place to see what I wanted. Neither said they could help me because "that wasn't their job" & I went into my day having no clue what would be set up & how. In a nutshell, this wasn't an experience I would want any other bride to have. In the end, everything was completed how I wanted but getting there was less than enjoyable. I have no complaints about the actual venue. But the staff, especially the head of all the weddings, was unprofessional & came across as annoyed by my event. A little about the venue itself: blocked rooms are full price for your guests, there is no discount.If you want to book a room for your one year anniversary it's full price. Security has no idea where the ballrooms are & bridal suite is so your guests & vendors will wonder aimlessly trying to find it and no you can't put signs out on the first floor directing them. Check multiple times on your timelines because they won't read anything you send them. Make sure your names are spelled correctly on everything because they won't check. Your guests can not take food or cake home it is against Indiana law. When they say "you don't have to set up anything" what they really mean is they will set the tables up.Vendor meals are the same price as guests. Stay away from light colored table cloths (they are stained) but they will replace them if you catch it and point it out. You will be cleaning up all decorations at the end of the night so stick around. They will clean up & clear all their table stuff. The food is amazing. The drinks & bartenders are great. They will check on you during dinner aka once your "on the clock." You will not see Cathy again after you cut the cake. Even if you have inadequate experiences with the staff at least your guests will not know. Don't go in thinking you will be catered to or pampered, it is not that kind of venue & they aren't interested in making your day unique. They deal with high amounts of events & yours is just another contract to them. Best of luck on your big day! Stay organized for yourself and try not to let their lack of enthusiasm ruin it for you. Not sure what happened in the two years since the last review of Cathy, but that is definitely NOT the experience we had.

    Run far far away

    If you are thinking about having a wedding here... DON"T. Run far far away and go to whatever other places you were considering. Everything seemed perfectly fine when we initially put a down-payment and then once they have your money you don't mean anything to them. We had to hunt them down 3 months before the wedding for a food tasting, they made it difficult to take any payment for the event, and lied about all the service fee's. All that aside the real problem started when we made a change to our guest count 3 days before by 3 dinner plates. We offered to pay them and they replied "no you're good". They told us the room would be ready the night before for us to decorate and set up and when we got there it was being used by another event. So the day of our wedding (reception starting at 5pm and ceremony starting at 3pm) the room was not available until 12pm the DAY OF OUR WEDDING. This specific department in the 1 year that we have dealt with them has had over 100% turnover so you will only be dealing with new people and constantly being turned over during the course of planning the most important day of your life. They also came back 2 months later after an "audit" and said we owed them $500 more dollars after they had stated we were good and offered to pay. We have received threatening phone calls and emails about collecting payment and they even went through our stay there and threatened to charge the credit card on file we had for a hotel stay during the wedding. Honestly there are several other beautiful venues in the area that will make this experience so much better for you. But if you want to be gaslit every time you bring up an issue by being told "but wasn't your day so beautiful" and "you don't want to remember it like this" instead of addressing the issue, then maybe this is the perfect place for you!

    Proceed with caution!

    Lucky for the Blue Chip, my negative review went +6800 over my character text limit lol so here is a list of reasons to not book here:

    -5 different coordinators, somehow always getting less qualified as time goes on.

    -This is an email from the coordinator explaining how their food tasting works:

    “Ali the rules here are 2 entrees and 2 appetizers. You can view the menu options on line and choose the menu items you’d like to try. Also which package have you chosen for your wedding? Honestly you don’t have to take part in an tasting that is just an option that we offer”

    We were only able to try two entrees and two appetizers, so if we didn’t like them, we would be offering our guest something we never tried.

    -Lack of communication. Monica just stopped responding to emails for 4-5 months, to the point where I thought she quit

    -Changing the amount of the ceremony room. All answers that I have received from the wedding department, “no room rental fee, $500, $700, $1000” and what we got charged a week before the wedding, $1200

    -Everyone shocked that we had a rehearsal the day before the wedding…..when I confirmed with two people 5 hours prior. Monica then put us in a room and left so we directed the rehearsal ourselves. Who don’t even know the set up of the room.

    -Getting a phone call at 10AM day of the wedding asking what color table clothes I want after giving them a detailed binder full of every detail they could ever think of and confirming these details with them on multiple occasions prior because I KNEW they would do this

    -Them telling me the room is being set up overnight and the florist can come by Noon. And when my aunt checks it after noon, nothing is set up. The coordinator gives my aunt the cart of my decor and MY AUNT SETS UP THE RECEPTION AREA FOR 3 HOURS. The coordinator did not even assist her.

    -The “on-site event coordinator” was not present after the 15 minute ceremony. Did not see her once. Never even helped with ceremony or reception line up.

    -BAR CLOSED 30 MIN EARLIER than discussed after going over time line MULTIPLE TIMES with coordinator

    -bought and made welcome bags and then never passed them out

    The day after the wedding, I reach out to Angela to tell her about my experience. She was quick to call me and validate my feelings, which honestly meant a lot. She agreed it was unacceptable and was so nice to offer us a night stay, a dinner for two and $900 back. And at that point, we were planning on still giving a three star review because of how seriously they took it.

    But that was short lived when Angela replied almost 3 weeks after that agreement and said she will be giving us less money back. I explained to her that this back and forth is exactly the reason I’m so upset with the company. She ended up agreeing and sent the receipt with the $900 that was originally said. Who knows if we will ever see the night stay and dinner lol

    All in all, the food was great. The dinner staff was great. Everything else was pretty much a nightmare so just proceed with caution if booking.
