Gorgeous Pictures and Excellent Service

Nick did just a fantastic job. He knew our venue very well (Grove Park Inn) and it showed. He was very efficient, so we got all the pictures we wanted and then some. The final photos are a complete dream. He has such an eye to capture the magic and love from that day; we couldn't be happier with the images.

A Top Pick in AVL for Good Reason

From bright sun during the ceremony, to dim dinner lighting, to a pavilion lit only by strand lights, Nick rolled with the punches on the spot and delivered INCREDIBLE and unique photos despite what many photographers may have struggled with. He captured a beautiful mix of posed and candid images that embodied our relationship and the feeling we wanted for our wedding (intimate, classy, and incredibly fun!) He was very attentive, learning I had special wine brought down for the day and that I made all of the dinnerware myself, and took it upon himself to specifically photograph those things without being asked. I impulsively hired Nick for an extra hour two weeks out and added a first look with my dad, which he adjusted for graciously. Hiring the perfect photographer was at the very top of our must-have list, and we are delighted with our choice. Communicate what you'd like in advance, relax, and let Nick run with it-- you will not be disappointed. We will cherish our wedding photos for the rest of our lives!

Awesome to work with and beautiful memories!

We had a destination wedding in Asheville, NC at Jump off Rock and worked with Nick. He was so easy to work with and was able to work with us very well, even through phone calls and emails. We only had Nick for a few hours but he was able to capture every image I imagined plus some. The turn around time was a expected and promised. The pictures were some of the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. We are so glad we chose to go with Blue Bend Photography and would 110% recommend them to anyone.

Fantastic!!

Nick was amazing on our wedding day! He was very professional and great at keeping us engaged and getting us to relax. With so much chaos around us it was great to work with someone so chill and nice! He was patient and made sure we got everything done without making us feel rushed or flustered. I can’t wait to see how our photos turn out! Blue Bend Photography is fantastic and I’m so glad they were part of our wedding day!!

Kevin was amazing! He was very professional. He was able to pick out spots for photographs that were absolutely perfect. He also kept everyone at ease. During the reception, I barely noticed he was there. Highly recommend!

Nick and Will were amazing and I’m so glad we hired them for our wedding! They were so easy to work with and made us feel comfortable when taking photos. Sometimes I forgot they were there which I think is a good thing when you are having the first look or taking photos with your new or soon-to-be husband. I had a vendor that was very difficult to work with and Nick and Will kept everything so smooth and professional. I was so thankful to have them as part of my vendor team! They were absolutely one of my favorite vendors on my wedding day. I haven’t seen the photos yet but I recommend Blue Bend Photography to anyone and everyone!

We loved our photographer, Colby and his assistant, Kevin. They were on time and worked diligently throughout the wedding ceremony and reception. They were pleasant and professional and responsive to all of our needs! I would highly recommend them!

Our photographer was Nick. He was awesome!!!! He was very nice, engaging, flexible and easy to talk to. I have not got my photos back yet but I know they will be amazing after taking some photos I was give a quick peek at what he had taken. He really went above and beyond my expectations of a photographer, seeking every photo taking opportunity possible. After the wedding I had people ask me about him because they wanted to have photos done. Some of my guests made statements like... " wow he was really good" and "you hardly knew he was there". You should book him!!!!!!!

So far, Blue Bend has been great. Granted we have not seen our photos yet, but we loved their portfolios. We had another photographer bail at the last minute, and Blue Bend called us immediately the day after we left the message, then met with us that night for coffee and BAM! No more worries for us, we had them as our photographers. Their responsiveness was and has been super great. We can't wait to see our photos after our wedding. And we look forward to our engagement session!

Nick (and team) are the best Wedding Photographers in WNC (and beyond!) My husband and I are not fans of having our picture taken so we were rather apprehensive, but Nick made the whole process easy and fun. He became a part of our day and told the story of it so completely and creatively. Every photograph spoke to us and the story of our family, friends, and our mutual love of the mountains that served as our wedding day backdrop. We could not recommend Blue Bend Photography more.

We booked a photographer with Blue Bend and the day before our wedding, Nick called to let me know that our photographer fell and broke a bone! Of course I was worried because photography was so important to me...Nick put me at ease immediately and found an AMAZING photographer from a different company (because all of the photographers from Blue Bend were booked that weekend). I can't tell you how thankful we were to have Nick, the photographer that he sent to fill-in was amazing, professional, courteous, and kind. He saved the day and we'd recommend him to anyone!

I worked with Kevin at Blue Bend Photography and he was awesome. His style made it easy and fun to get great photos and he was super nice. He pushed me and the groom to "hike" around after the ceremony to find the best shots and they turned out amazing and absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend!!

I knew I'd hit the jackpot when I discovered Blue Bend here on WeddingWire, and they didn't disappoint! Nick and his team were fun, responsive, and completely professional, even when some of our extended family members were making things less than ideal. (20 minutes for a family portrait anyone? No thanks.) And I couldn't be happier with the final images! There were photographers that cost twice as much with work half as good. Blue Bend rocks! .

The photography and the photographer (Nick) were excellent in all respects! The only issue we had was working through their website to get to the photos. The steps could have been explained more clearly and the link been made more visible, but they were very responsive to my questions and the photos were great! I would highly recommend them!

I could not recommend Nick and Colby enough! Nick was with me every step of the way during my wedding, even calming me down when I was panicking about weather. The pictures are even more beautiful and stunning than I ever could have hoped for - every moment was captured perfectly. Book this vendor! Nick became, not just our dream wedding photographer, but we now count him as a good friend. Nick was our photographer for our engagement shoot, our Biltmore wedding, and even traveled with us to Rome for a Vatican wedding. The photos he captured are stunning, and they're a large part of memories we'll keep forever. Our only complaint is that there are so many great photos! How can we ever choose?? We recommend Nick for wedding photography, and I would seriously consider taking him on family trips to help document beautiful moments. He allowed us to put down our camera and really soak in our time in Rome, instead of wondering if we had a great shot.

Blue Bend was awesome! We hired Nick to photograph our wedding which was just under two weeks ago and had a wonderful experience! We just got our photos back last night and they are absolutely gorgeous. We couldn't be happier with them! My only regret is that we didn't end up booking him for even more time than we did. As an aside, when I first spoke to Nick, he told me whether I hired him or not, to feel free to call him with any questions I might have because he's photographed so many weddings that he had lots of inside knowledge about vendors and all sorts of other tips. How nice is that? I was planning this wedding from out of state so I took him up on it and sure enough, Nick was genuinely happy to help me with everything I asked and even put out a Facebook post asking for tips on a rehearsal dinner site. From first contact till now, just a wonderful experience! He was also so nice to have around on the day of the wedding, a very kind, genuine, unassuming person. You might not think ahead about the fact that your photographer is going to be there with you during some of the most personal moments of your wedding day, having a nice like-able person is pretty important! Nick made us feel very comfortable and at ease being photographed. He blended in with everything that was going on during the day. Many of our guests commented, "that photographer was such a nice guy!" We felt exactly the same way :) Thanks so much to Blue Bend and Nick!

Blue Bend photography is AMAZING!!! Unfortunately, due to a number of circumstances on our wedding day we were unable to capture many photos of my husband and I by ourselves nor a single photo of just me in my wedding dress. After much encouragement from family, coworkers, and friends we decided to put our wedding attire back on and relive that moment. At the last minute we decided it would mean more to both of us if we took these pictures at the place we got married and our original photographer was too far away from the venue. We found Nick on wedding wire. We immediately fell in love with his photos so we contacted him! After hearing our story it was as if it became his mission to help us relive and capture our day. He met us promptly the next day even though his wife was due to have her baby at any point! He was absolutely charming, relaxed, creative, and funny! We were immediately comfortable with him and had a blast taking the photos. We received the photos 3 weeks or so later and O-M-G!!! I am almost grateful that things worked out the way they did because we were able meet Nick. Our pictures turned out like something out of a magazine! We are forever thankful!

Nick did an amazing job on our engagement pictures! My fiance and I are from Florida, but we wanted to have the beautiful mountains as a background for our pictures, so we decided on Asheville. Nick was so helpful throughout the planning process and made everything so easy for us! He knew what we wanted when we didn't even know. His eye for beauty and artistic shots is one of a kind. I don't know how to begin praising Nick Gillespie's phenomenal job photographing our wedding at our home in the mountains of North Carolina. I knew instantly from a quick conversation on the phone with Nick that he was the one to do our photography. Nick was unbelievably professional, friendly, smart, considerate, and gracefully aware of the complex components that make up a wedding (so that he seemingly was able to catch every.single.important.moment). Nick has a carefree attitude (which was a front because he definitely cared a great deal about everything) and he is honest about which photographs to prioritize depending on the location of the sun, the order of events, and the inevitability of the massive thunderstorm on its way to bless your wedding and flood your reception tent. I cherish the photographs of our friends and family barefoot in the mud. Nick is also an expert at taming your nerves, making you laugh, and helping you feel good about all of the decisions you made leading up to your wedding. We truly missed having Nick around after he left. He was an honorary guest by the end of it, having impressed all of the other guests. My only regret is that I did not book more hours with Nick. He is worth every penny, so I urge you to book as much of his time as you can possibly afford, and then book more!

Blue Bend Photography was one of our biggest finds for our wedding. After going through the list of preferred vendors I just wasn't feeling a connection to any of the photographers (not to mention their extremely high pricing). So I started my search on google and Blue Bend was one of the first to come up! I called and was able to get ahold of Nick on the first try and was very professional and made me feel comfortable going through the process. Being from the area we were getting married at (we were from another state) things were a bit more stressful but they took care of everything and had a lot of experience shooting at our venue. Maddy, his wife, was our actual photographer and we could not have had a better experience! She was so sweet and had such a calm energy around her it made the entire experience a memorable part of our day. She even took on shooting our two crazy dogs during the bridal session. All of our family and friends adored her and she fit right in! After a few weeks, we got all of the photos digitally so we had access to all of our high res photos. They came out amazing and was beyond impressed. We couldn't even believe that was us in the photos! Overall, end your search for your perfect photographer here! Don't go through the pain of calling or searching; the service was perfect and their pricing was very fair. Thank you Blue Bend for all of your help and providing us with photos we are so in love with.

Nick was very professional and so much fun to hang out with on our wedding day. He arrived earlier than he was supposed to and scoped out the best shots. We went to areas on the mountain that we didn't even know existed and got amazing photographs because of that! He even made special arrangements to get photographs with a family member with dementia who didn't tolerate the first round of family photos on the mountain. Very creative, very talented, and a great personality that really puts even a stressed out bride at ease. The pics turned out absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend!

Nick and his team were awesome to work with! Nick was always super easy to get in touch with and scheduling everything was a breeze. He did my bridal shoot as well, and when bad weather ruined the outdoor pictures he was quick to find us an alternate location. On the day of my wedding him and his team arrived promptly and went straight to work. They captured all the things I wanted them to and the pictures came out beautiful! The package I chose offered me other photo shoots with Nick, and I can't wait to have those done as well! Nick was so wonderful at our wedding at Rumbling Bald in Lake Lure, NC! He was very professional and helpful! He's very warm and sweet and just blends and gets along with the wedding! We were so happy with our day of photographers. Nick made me feel very at ease during the getting ready photo's and was such a pleasure to work with. Our photos came out gorgeous, we could not be happier. Compared to what some friends have paid for wedding photography, Blue Bend provided a great price for the quality of the work. I only wish we could have received EVERY photo, in case there were some that we loved, that the photographers didn't. But, that is my fault for not realizing up front that this was not the case. I would highly recommend Blue Bend based off our experiences with them.

He truly captured the event and helped me remember the moments I may have missed because I was so busy as the bride. I love seeing all the detail and capturing the looks on peoples faces. He worked tirelessly all night long. In fact, we had to tell him to go home he was working so hard.

We loved Nick and would definitely use him again!

I only had two meetings with Nick many months before our wedding but I felt like we were long time friends from the moment we said hello ! When he came to shoot my wedding it was like we just hung out and had a beer together the night before! He is understanding, thoughtful(he reminded me about extra lipstick and even carried it for me in his camera bag), fun, and most importantly a terrific photographer! It's only been a week since our wedding so we don't have our pics yet but he showed us some "raw" ones from the screen of his camera and they were fabulous! We will definitely recommend Blue Bend to anyone!!

Nick and Joe photographed our destination wedding. They laughed and joked around with us, which made us feel much more comfortable and made for some great pictures. We got some really unique shots with them that I seriously doubt another photographer would have thought of. I am so glad that we used them and would do it again in a heartbeat.

The first thing I'd like to say about Blue Bend Photography is WOW!!!

Nick photographed my bridal portraits and our January wedding both on the Biltmore Estate. Nick is so talented - his photography is stunning, its really beyond amazing! Everyone that has seen our pictures says what a great photographer! Secondly, he is so professional and personable… he helps position you so you don't feel awkward or posed. We loved his feedback while he was taking pictures and the fact that he would show us the pictures he liked as he took them. He was very flexible too - for example, if we said there was a specific shot we wanted him to get, I felt like he went out of his way to make it happen!

I was on a budget so I only purchased the 6 hour package and added bridal portraits but now I wish I had upgraded to a bigger package. I definitely think everyone needs a minimum of 8 hours! I also wish that I had gotten Nick to photograph the rehearsal dinner too because it definitely would have been worth it!

I wish I had more excuses to have professional pictures taken because we would love to work with Nick again!

Nick is amazing! He did our Engagement and Wedding photos and I couldn't be happier with the way they turned out. His work is very artistic and the photos all have a lot of energy. No stiff, fake looking poses. My friend commented that one of our wedding photos is the most beautiful she's ever seen! He is also super cool and easy to work with too. Everyone at the wedding loved him, and he really made me feel like a princess :)

Maddy was our photographer and everybody at our wedding is still raving about how fantastic she was and how beautiful the photos are. We searched for a photographer for weeks that would provide beautiful photos at a reasonable price and we were thrilled to find Blue Bend. From the first phone call with Maddy, I knew she'd be perfect. She was always very quick to respond to emails and phone calls and took well over 1000 beautiful photos without anybody even realizing she was around. Then as a beautiful surprise, only 2 days after the wedding, they had put up dozens of photos from the wedding up on their blog. We have other friends who got married the same weekend and saw only 3 photos from their wedding a couple of weeks after the date. 2 days after our wedding we were able to share the blog with all of our friends and family. Then only about a week after we returned from our honeymoon, we had our disc of images. I can't say enough about how fantastic our experience with Blue Bend was.

Nick Gillespie of Blue Bend Photography is a photographic genius! He made my vision come to life and captured the true emotion of the day. Our pictures are definitely magazine worthy! He and his assistant were very professional and so much fun. They will forever be a part of our special day!

We were so pleased with our photographer - the picture quality was amazing and I got the DVD with the pictures really soon after the wedding! I felt very comfortable with Nick and his wife, they had great suggestions and eased my anxiety.

We couldn't be happier with the photography provided by Blue Bend Photography. Colby was our wedding day photographer and he was wonderful! He was very professional and captured all of our special moments. The photos are beautiful! Our ceremony was at the Basilica St. Lawrence and our reception was held at the Crest Pavilion. Blue Bend also took our engagement photos. For those, Nick took some amazing pictures of us at the UNCA Botanical Gardens. I highly recommend both Colby and Nick!

More Than Just Smiling Faces

Nick and his team were so responsive and understanding throughout our drawn out process. For our engagement pictures in 2019, Nick knew the best spots for outdoor shots that included waterfalls and lush greenery. For our COVID wedding in June of 2020, Nick treated it like it was the real big day even though there were only 20 people there and it was very casual. He got a sneak peak of the shots back to us the next day! It was definitely the joy we needed after our wedding was basically cancelled. We rescheduled our ceremony and reception for July of 2021 and Nick was able to work it out that he could be there as well. He was constantly getting pictures throughout the night but was able to not disrupt any of the vibes. He was sure to ask my husband and I if there were any specific pictures we definitely wanted and made those happen throughout the evening. What I love most about Blue Bend is that they not only focus on the people in the picture, but the landscape as well, making for photos that are more than just smiling faces.

Maddy and Nick Gillespie are wonderful people and photographers. I think I spent the most time in search for vendors- looking for a photographer in the beginning stages of planning my wedding. I wanted something epic and beautiful with gorgeous sunlight and a touch of the romantic.

What I found in my search is those really elite photographers were way out of my price range- and they everyone else- even those that weren't that great- (seems like they just happen to own an SLR and photoshop) were all the same price point. So check out Blue Bends albums- they have a range of talent and gorgeous photos.

Maddy was our photographer and she was so helpful- I even asked them for special requests that aren't posted here and they were so awesome.

Nick was a great photographer! Pre-wedding, he would answer my emails in a timely fashion. During the wedding/reception he took some great photographs and was very flexible. Overall, did a great job and contributed to making our day perfect. Thanks!!

Poor Customer Service

My customer service issues started early with Blue Bend Photography. They made a big hassle about the fact that we wanted to pay our deposit with a credit card. They made me feel pretty bad about it, and made it clear it was a burden on them. They also took an extended period of time to run the deposit through once they had our credit card information. After the wedding, we were told to expect photos in 6-8 weeks. After 8 1/2 weeks (December 11th), I reached out to let Blue Bend know I was planning to give wedding photos to family as Christmas gifts, and asked for a date when they would be ready. Nick wrote back a few days later (December 14th) that they were almost done and would be ready in just a few days. After not hearing any updates I email nick again on December 20th and 21st. I reminded him that it had now been 10 weeks since the wedding and we were planning to use our photos as Christmas gifts. We ended up not hearing anything back from Blue Bend until after Christmas on December 27th. It was very disappointing to receive our photos so late without any communication or apology. Once we received the photos, I was disappointed in some of the editing. My bridesmaids wore dark burgundy dresses and they appear red in most of the photos. Everything is washed out and looks like ti has been run through a filter. Overall, I would not recommend Blue Bend for wedding photography.
