Black Walnut Farm will always hold a special place in our hearts. It was the first venue we saw, and the moment we stepped on the property, we knew it was where we were meant to get married.
From the start, Sara, Jim, and their team cared for us with such warmth and attention. Their online planning portal made everything simple, but what we loved most was how personally they got to know us. They listened to our vision and brought it to life in a way that felt truly meaningful.
Throughout the weekend, every detail was handled with so much thought. Our guests felt welcomed, we felt supported, and even when the weather forced last-minute changes, the team stayed calm and kept everything running beautifully.
Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. Black Walnut Farm isn’t just a stunning venue, it’s a place filled with people who genuinely care about making your day unforgettable. We couldn’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else. -

The most magical wedding venue!
If anyone were to ask me what my favorite part of my wedding was I’d have to say “Black Walnut Farm!” What a remarkable experience it has been to work with Sarah, Jim, Lish, Lindsey, and of course, Miss Lilly!
My partner and I didn’t even bother viewing another venue because we could instantly feel how special the BWF property was — we called 30 minutes after our tour and said we were ready for the contract and deposit. Even still Black Walnut Farm far exceeded our expectations!
Everything about this venue is so thoughtfully curated and managed. There is just so much care and consideration that has gone into every inch of this very special place!
My partner and I decided to have a “honeymoon” week during the week of the wedding; we chose to have the extended package where we stayed on the property just the two of us. Unwinding in front of the fireplace while playing chess and drinking wine was such a lovely way to relax the night before. The sunroom is the perfect place for getting ready the morning of the wedding! After our wedding (in lieu of an after party) we just asked to have the hot tub ready for us, which was the best move ever!
Most importantly, the BWF team were so kind and patient, cool and collected. In the face of some extreme family drama and chaotic spring weather they always rolled with the punches. I felt that I could trust them fully and always felt safe and cared for. I was not afraid to defer to their expertise in the midst of the chaos, and I do not regret any of those decisions! In fact, the backup rain plan ended up being better than the original plan!

Our wedding weekend at Black Walnut Farm was nothing short of extraordinary. I had always dreamed of more than just a single day or a few hours of celebration—I imagined a full weekend surrounded by our favorite people, celebrating a love I had hoped for my entire life. Black Walnut Farm made that dream a reality in the most magical way.
My fiancé and I got engaged in June 2024 and waited until August to begin planning so we could savor being engaged. Black Walnut Farm was our first venue visit. During their open house, we explored the property while enjoying signature cocktails and bites, and we immediately felt at home meeting Jim. His warmth, charisma, and genuine spirit set the tone for everything that followed. The estate is breathtaking—acres of beauty, an enchanting forest, whimsical gardens, and a farmhouse filled with stunning, eclectic antiques. Within minutes, we knew our search was over. As we left, Jim smiled, saying he could tell we had found “the one.”
The planning process was seamless and stress-free. As someone who goes with the flow, I was amazed by how organized and supportive the team was. Timelines, documents, and communication were clear and thoughtful. Sarah, co-owner and Jim’s partner, made the experience effortless. While the venue is largely a la carte, Sarah provides a curated list of trusted vendors so you never feel lost. Together, Sarah and Jim are an unmatched team.
We chose the weekend package, allowing us and six guests to stay in the farmhouse from Thursday through Monday. Walking in felt like stepping into a dream. We were greeted with a handwritten card, a charcuterie board, and champagne. Fresh banana bread, muffins, and cookies were displayed, the refrigerator stocked with snacks, drinks, and s’mores essentials, and a bar cart held homemade old fashioneds. Every room included robes and fresh water by the bedside, and fireplaces were ready with stacked firewood. Our honeymoon suite was spacious and cozy, with its own fireplace, sitting area, and clawfoot tub. Black Walnut Farm even created a custom flag with our names and named a tree in our honor—a meaningful and unforgettable touch.
On Friday evening, we hosted our rehearsal dinner for fifty-five guests in the barn, which perfectly blends rustic elegance with antique details and warmth. The staff’s pride and attention to detail were evident, and Jim, Sarah, or Lindsey were always nearby to ensure everything ran smoothly. After dinner, my bridesmaids and I returned to the farmhouse for a cozy night by the fire watching Father of the Bride.
Our wedding day was pure magic. We got ready together in a sun-filled room, sharing laughter and happy tears. We exchanged vows in the forest, a fairytale setting. The celebration continued in the barn with cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and dessert. Guests loved the barn loft, complete with a photo booth and a phone for leaving messages. Although the weather prevented our planned bonfire hour, Sarah and Jim graciously extended our time in the barn, ensuring the night remained just as special.
This weekend was the best experience of our lives. Our friends and family still talk about how incredible it was. We are endlessly grateful to Sarah, Jim, Miss Lily, and the entire Black Walnut Farm team for creating a wedding weekend we will cherish forever.

Sarah and Jim run an amazing venue. Decorated with the most eclectic decorations, their vision of a most spectacular wedding falls nothing short. My daughter's wedding this past weekend was nothing short of perfection. They are 100% attentive and are always one step ahead. It's like they can read your mind of what needs to be done. The farmhouse is warm and welcoming, filled with everything you need to have a most enjoyable stay. Upon arrival, the cookie jar was filled with cookies and a fresh baked bread was waiting. Pantry is full of cooking needs, fully stocked kitchen utensils, pots, pans , dishes, etc. Large farmhouse tables for your event make for a comfortable setting to enjoy your meal. The staff was available and extremely attentive throughout our event. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. -

It’s our first anniversary today and while looking at our wedding photos we were immediately taken back to the magic of Black Walnut Farm. We stayed on the property and hosted all of our events there and it was absolutely perfect. Everything is so beautifully decorated, makes you feel relaxed and at home, yet still feels like a getaway. It’s hard to put into words just how special this place is, and even more so the people who own it. Jim, Sarah, Travis, Lish and of course Ms. Lily went above and beyond to ensure our day was special. We planned from the West Coast and Sarah was a tremendous support at every point. Jim was amazing in helping show the magic of the property and Travis absolutely blew us away with his floral arrangements. We love this place so, so much and would highly recommend to anyone who is considering Black Walnut Farm. -

The Black Walnut Farm team gave us such an incredible wedding weekend. My bride and I had the most magnificent day - it was everything I had ever dreamed of, and everything my fiance had never believed possible. It's been the utmost pleasure working with Sarah, Jim, Lish and the entire team, and getting to know them as human beings as well. Everyone at Black Walnut Farm was incredibly kind and professional, and we really saw all the ways they went above and beyond. Our guests could not have said kinder things about the whole property, and staying in the farmhouse brought nearly as much joy as being in the barn for our reception. We know this chapter of thier business is really just getting started to we truly wish them the best of luck and look forward to celebrating all the milestones in the years ahead. -

We cannot recommend Black Walnut Farm enough—it was the perfect place for the wedding of our dreams! From the breathtaking forest ceremony site that felt like stepping into a fairytale, to the warm and vibrant barn that created the ideal setting for our reception and dance party, to the sprawling wildflower gardens that surrounded our golden cocktail hour — every part of the venue is magical. The venue owners, Sarah and Jim, were incredible to work with—so flexible and supportive in helping us create a wedding that truly reflected us. They not only encouraged our own ideas but also suggested thoughtful details we wouldn’t have considered on our own, making our day even more special. It felt like a true collaboration and both my wife and I felt understood by them in this partnership. What really stood out is how effortlessly beautiful and well-equipped the venue is. We only added some simple table flowers, and that was it! It’s truly a “ready-to-go” venue that makes wedding planning so much easier while still looking stunning. We’re already looking forward to attending more events at Black Walnut Farm so we can keep the connection to this incredible place. It’s not just a venue—it’s a place that feels alive with love and celebration. If you’re considering it for your wedding, stop searching—you’ve found your perfect spot! -

Having our wedding at Black Walnut Farm with Sarah & Jim was the best decision we made. We wanted our event to feel like we were having it in our own backyard - if our backyard had sprawling fields and a gorgeous, 19-century barn! It ended up being just that, guests felt so comfortable and at-home at the space. Not to mention how magical the back woods are for the ceremony! The venue was so rich in history and you could feel it being there. Sarah & Jim personalize the experience so much so you really know that your day is yours - and yours alone! They made our wedding and the experience planning it so meaningful to us, and we couldn't thank them enough. -

Far exceeded our expectations
Black Walnut Farm is an unbelievable venue that far exceeded our expectations for our wedding. Beyond the incredible property, the owners are excellent to work with from your first tour to even after your event.
To start, the barn and the surrounding grounds look incredible and are so beautifully manicured. So many of our guests complimented the venue. The staff also blended very seamlessly with our caterer. We used Bridge Creek Catering, who were unbelievably on top of it, and between the venue and the caterers there wasn’t a single hiccup.
Sarah’s day-of coordination definitely tied everything together and gave us a ton of confidence that event would run smoothly.
We rented a tent for our reception and had it placed on the main lawn. The scene behind us, wild grass and a line of trees, is absolutely stunning in our photos. And the ceremony space in the woods is honestly magical.
The farmhouse on the property, where the wedding party can stay for the duration of their weekend, is so comfortable and classic. The MASSIVE fireplace in the parlor is so amazing. And who doesn’t love a hot tub?
We can’t say enough good things about Black Walnut. -

Jim and Sarah of Black Walnut Farm have created a haven for love. Every inch of their 34 acres is carefully curated for a truly magical experience. As Matt and I approached our forest ceremony enclave, filled with our loved ones, the happy tears were instant thanks to their attention to detail. We chose Black Walnut Farm, after exploring numerous venues, because of their perfectly decorated barn complete with 4 foot disco ball, manicured gardens, equally charming farmhouse to stay the weekend with family, smore station, popcorn machine, audio guestbook, and of course their property manager, Miss Lily, the barn cat. What we didn’t expect to be included in our wedding package was the amount of care, energy, support, and love we felt from Jim, Sarah, and the staff at Black Walnut Farm as they effortlessly managed the most memorable day of our lives. Thank you for making our dreams come true and for being the best wedding venue we could ask for! There is no place like Black Walnut Farm. -

When our original venue cancelled on us 4 months before our big day, we did not ever think we would find a new venue -let alone one we loved. But fate worked its magic and led us to Black Walnut Farm, where Sarah & Jim made all of our dreams come true. Their commitment to each couple paired with the incredible venue and all of its perks made this venue the perfect place for my wife and I to tie the knot. I feel so incredibly grateful to have found BWF, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a beautiful barn wedding. I can't say thank you enough! -

Our wedding at Black Walnut Farm was nothing short of magical and truly felt like it was built to host our special day. From the moment we set foot on the grounds, we were enchanted by the charming vintage touches, luxurious feel, and unique rustic beauty that surrounded us. The beautifully restored barn, set amidst the woods, provided the perfect backdrop for our rustic chic fairytale wedding.
Sarah, Jim, and the team at Black Walnut Farm went above and beyond to ensure that every detail of our day was perfect. From the initial meeting where we discussed our vision for the wedding, to the day of the event itself, they truly exceeded our expectations.
The venue's unique offerings, such as the green retro Ford truck and cool photo lounge, added an extra touch of charm and personality to our day. They even included lawn games, an amazing bonfire/firepit (and smore's!), fresh popcorn, and an audio guestbook housed in a vintage phone booth. One of my favorite touches was a beautiful oversized mirror also which doubled as our welcome sign! The farm house, where we got ready, was the perfect spot for us to prepare for the day ahead, with its quaint and unique beauty. Further, as grand as the venue was, there was something so personal and special about this setting for this meetings of our lives and families.
Sarah's warmth and care were evident throughout the entire planning process, and Jim's creativity and hard work made the magic happen. Through all the stresses of wedding planning, we felt that we had real partner in this venue and its stewards. We are forever grateful that they decided to start this venue together.
Our guests couldn't stop raving about the venue, and our photographer even remarked on how it was "not just another ballroom venue." We said our I do's at the meadow ceremony site with a beautiful line of trees in the background, and it was absolutely perfect.
Thank you, Sarah and Jim, for making our wedding day beyond our wildest dreams. Your passion, dedication, and creativity made our day unforgettable. We are forever grateful for the memories we created at Black Walnut Farm. -

The Best of the Best
We're not honestly sure where to begin with how over-the-moon ecstatic and thrilled we were to have our wedding at Black Walnut Farm. Let us start by saying that Jim & Sarah are the most amazing venue managers/people you will ever meet. Anything we needed help with, any questions we had, any concerns we wanted addressed, they handled them quickly and respectfully.
Our original venue lost their permits and canceled on us 4 months before our wedding. To say we were stressed is an understatement. Somehow, through some magic of the universe, we found BWF. It was even better than our original place, and had everything we wanted. We found out they were brand new and didn't exist yet when we were looking. So, it was truly a blessing in disguise. Both Sarah & Jim jumped to help us gather our thoughts, our stresses and our ideas to bring our dream day back to life.
Black Walnut Farm is an absolutely gorgeous wedding venue (especially if you're looking for a fall wedding, as we did). Our dream wedding was always "vintage fairytale" and it provided that vibe to a T, with versatility for other themes as well. From the rustic cottage (that turned out to basically be our dream home); to the barn itself with its farm-style picnic tables and mismatched chairs (a dream of the bride's); to the grounds - everything is meticulously cared for. All the decor is designed beautifully and artistically by the two of them with each item being picked for specific reasons. Plus, you get Miss Lily, the Pro-purr-ty Manager, as an honorary wedding guest, so that was an excellent plus.
Seriously though, if you're looking for a wedding venue in the area and you want a place where the managers are willing to go above and beyond and ensure your perfect day is exactly that; we honestly believe that you can not find a better option than Black Walnut Farm. All of our guests can't stop raving about how perfect it was and how beautiful everything turned out to be.
We can't wait to come back and visit for an anniversary down the road so that we can relive the most perfect day in our relationship thanks to Jim & Sarah and their attention to detail. We could write a novel on our love and appreciation for BWF.
We joke that they are our fairy godparents but they are so much more than that. They are magic-makers, loving friends, and truly own something special. Do NOT hesitate on Black Walnut Farm. -

An incredible venue. So many options for how you want your perfect wedding to unfold. We loved how our guests could dance it up in the barn, relax and catch up by the fire pit and explore the lush property.
The Barn itself is like a fever dream. An impressive disco ball, a unique seating area for guests and more than enough space for all your wildest dancing guests.
We are so grateful to the owners for having such a one of a kind venue and experience for our perfect wedding day!
