Don't Hesitate to Hire!

I highly recommend Black Tie Video! Jim and Barbara were amazing to work with from start to finish. We almost didn't book a videographer, but I am beyond happy we did, because our videos are amazing and bring us right back to our special day! They had the option to add on drone coverage and that was 100% worth it to get an aerial view of our waterfront venue. It added such a nice touch to our video!

Jim was very communicative throughout the process. The day of the wedding Jim and Barbara captured every important moment, but were so unobtrusive, I never noticed they were there! They worked well with all of my vendors (and knew most of them from their many years of experience) and were so wonderful to work with.

One thing that I loved was the option for a full length wedding video. So many videographers we interviewed only offered a highlight video, but Jim offered both a highlight video and full-length video of the day capturing pre-wedding, the entire ceremony, vows, speeches, first dances, etc. My husband and I loved being taken back to all of those moments together and we cherish this video.

The final videos took a little longer than expected to receive, but Jim was in communication with us throughout the entire process and updated us with the status frequently. You could tell how much work Jim put in to the editing of the video--the background music meshed perfectly with the video and every moment captured flowed beautifully into the next. Everything was definitely worth the wait!

I Would Choose Them Again and Again

I cannot express how much I appreciate Jim from Black Tie Video (and his wife Barbara) for the amazing job that they did! From wedding planning to video delivery, they were the one part of my wedding that I never needed to worry about.

From the first message, I knew that Black Tie Video would be my videographers. After submitting an inquiry, Jim introduced himself in a personable manner that simply told me who he is and what he does. With so many decisions to make, I appreciated cutting through to the straight up facts so that I could check this off my list. I didn’t really know what I needed (because how often does one hire a videographer?) so Jim and I jumped on a call to discuss my options and came to a cost-effective solution that worked for everyone. He even had examples of videos he had shot at my venue so I was confident that the product would be great.

Black Tie Video was communicative without being overwhelming throughout the entire process. As a consummate professional with an amazing personality, Jim just asked for my preferences and later on my wedding schedule, then he handled the rest. He and Barbara were on time on the wedding day and while I barely noticed that they were there, they managed to capture all my favorite moments (and even some I didn’t see the day of).

As expected, the final highlight video and overall video came out beautifully. So, there’s no need to look further for a videographer – Jim from Black Tie Video is your guy.

We Hit the Jackpot with Black Tie Video!

When I say we hit the jackpot in hiring Black Tie Video as our wedding videographers, I mean that wholeheartedly. They were quite possibly the best decision of our wedding vendor team, and you get so much quality for the extremely reasonable price you pay for their services. I can’t help gushing about how wonderful they are!

We found ourselves in an unfortunate situation: our videography company that we’d hired a year before our wedding went bankrupt less than 2 weeks before our wedding, leaving us in an extremely devastating position. I contacted tons of videographers as soon as I found out, and miraculously Black Tie Video was available for our date, and I am forever grateful. Not only was Jim familiar with our venue, but he was also very personable and easy to talk to. We signed a contract the same day, and wow did we hit the jackpot! For a full hour-and-half video and 6-minute highlight film, they charged half the price as other videographers, and the quality wasn’t affected one bit.
The day of, Jim and his wife Barbara were exceptionally professional: they were on time, super friendly, and did their work seamlessly without drawing attention to themselves. Jim was responsive to all my questions before and after the wedding, and he gave sound advice and incorporated my music picks perfectly. When we got the wedding highlight video back, we were floored at how amazing it was: all the best moments were caught on camera and timed excellently to the music, and the video captured the vibe of the wedding so accurately. I don’t usually like looking at myself, but I can’t stop watching the video! The full film included the entire ceremony, dances, speeches, and much of the reception, and it was a delight to see everyone having fun and all the little details I missed the day of.

I rambled a lot, but I’m so pleased with Black Tie Video! They did an incredible job from every angle and are such a strong recommendation. Trust me!

Run...don't walk to hire!

If you're on the fence about hiring a videographer, just book it! Jim (and Barbra) were absolutely incredible & were fun to work with! I was incredibly blown away by how easy and seamless the whole process was. I didn't even know that they were there on the day of the wedding and the video footage they captured was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Jim made an effort to get to know both myself and my husband and kept in touch with us every step of the way (even despite a few technological issues with email). My husband was so against spending the money on a videographer, but agreed based on the affordable cost & now that he saw the video, he tells me all the time that it was the best money we could have ever spent! We even discussed a few "add ons" after Jim sent the video & he heard us and was excited to make our vision come true! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jim! You will not be disappointed!

So Satisfied!

My husband and I absolutely loved working with Jim and Barb at Black Tie Video! On the day of the wedding they were very inconspicuous and quietly took in all of the events, we hardly realized that they were there. And they worked well with my other vendors, specifically my photographers, neither of them getting in each others' way. We received our highlight video and full wedding film in record time and we couldn't be more pleased! And Jim was so accommodating when it came to the background music we wanted for our videos. One of the things I loved most about Black Tie Video when I first hired them (about 18 months before the wedding) was how personable Jim was on the phone and how he assured me that we would actually get a FULL film of our wedding (between 60-90 mins) and not just a 15 min highlight reel like so many other companies offer for outrageous prices! We received a highlight film to post on social media as well as an hour long film of our wedding for such a great price and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! We can't wait to watch our film again in the future! Thank you Jim and Barb for such a great experience!

Amazing to Work with and Beautiful Video

Jim and staff were amazing to work with. They were attentive and very detailed in the footage they got. They worked hand in hand with our photography team and got some amazing video of the days events.

We had to move our wedding three times, due to Covid, and Jim and team were able to be with us each step of the way.

There were 2 videographers at the wedding, so the amount of footage was perfect. Jim was quick with the turnaround of the final video and the quality and attention to detail were impeccable.

We received our short, video montage quick and he captured every part of the day, from beginning to end. He then took the entire day and condensed it down to a one hour video, that showed more details of the events, the vows, the first looks and the pre and post wedding festivities.

We were not sure if we wanted a video at first, so we booked kind of late in the game, but we are so glad we did, since we will have this to look back on forever!!! It is the perfect keepsake of the day and will be treasured forever.

Flexibile and very responsive

I haven’t had my wedding yet but I can’t say enough how great Jim and Black Tie Video had been in my planning process. Less than 3 months until my wedding day, my ceremony venue (a military institute) made me change my videographer. Jim was so quick to respond and I was able to book him right away. I immediately felt relieved. Then, COVID hit. I postponed my wedding and he gave me no issues in moving my contract to my new date. I have now postponed for the second time and again, no issues. Vendors like this one make the wedding planning process much less stressful. Thank you Jim and thank you Black Tie Video!! I can’t wait to finally have my wedding and to see your work!

Leap Day Wedding!

Black Tie Video is the absolute best! Hiring Black Tie Video for my wedding was the best decision I made regarding the entire event. We elected for a sneak peek video, highlight reel, and full length video and were not disappointed! The Sneak Peek was posted within 24 hours of our wedding day. Each project was absolutely beautiful, moving, and perfect. My husband and I cry every time we watch them! Jim and his crew were phenomenal and extremely professional. They provided a quick turnaround on the videos as well. A great investment

After researching a number of videographers, I came across Black Tie Video on WeddingWire. I spoke with Jim and was blown away by his friendly demeanor and vast knowledge. After our initial phone consultation, I knew he was the right fit. We never met in person until our wedding day; however, the line of communication were always open. We primarily communicated by email and Jim was quick in responding. A few evenings before the wedding, Jim called to go over the details and to ensure that everything was fine on our end.
On our wedding day, I met his wife who was equally as sweet as Jim. They were both unobtrusive and worked well. My husband and I cannot wait to see the precious moments that were captured by Jim and his wife.

Jim and Barbara were spectacular! I was blown away when we viewed the sneak peek Jim sent us a few days after the wedding because I truly did not know how they were able to get the shots they did. Jim and Barbara were extremely unobtrusive during both the ceremony and reception. We did not feel like we were being filmed and they blended in so well with our guests! Jim was so professional and helpful throughout the entire planning process. We hired him for an extra hour of over time for an extremely reasonable price to capture some getting ready footage and our first look and we are so happy we did! Many people told us that not having a videographer at their wedding was their biggest regret, so we knew that we wanted a videographer to help capture our day. At the end of the night my husband and I agreed that we were so thankful we hired Jim and Barbara because there was so much of the wedding night we missed! It went by in the blink of an eye and we are so grateful we will have video of our wedding to watch for the rest of our lives. Thank you Jim and Barbara!

I contacted Black Tie Video (BTV) with regard to videography services for my son and future daughter in law, and I needed to take the time to write how we could not have been more pleased with the services we received.
From beginning contact, with Jim, to meeting his wife, Barbara, that day, we could not have received better service. Jim was extremely informative and helpful from the very beginning. Answering questions, returning emails right away, timely phone calls with me, etc.
I was a little reluctant in the beginning because it was late notice, only two weeks before the wedding, and also because BTV was very affordable. I was worried, sometimes you get what you pay for, right?!? On the day of our event, Jim and Barb could not have been more kind to us, more helpful or professional. They were funny and personable. And at times, invisable! How they got some of the shots they did, without us seeing, was nothing short of miraculous in our eyes! They were never in the way. Simply, they were fantastic. We were so happy when we left that evening.
Jim listened to my desires and wants, and some concerns, and made me feel completely at ease in knowing he would take care of everything, and would do everything in his power to create something for us that would last a lifetime. And he did.
Boy, was it worth the wait!!!!
Spectacular!! Perfect!! Beautiful!! ...are just a few adjectives I could use to describe our sneak peek and highlight videos. I could go on and on, but only have so much space.
We're still waiting for the full length video, but can only imagine how amazing it will be, knowing what we have so far!!
I believe businesses like this can live or die based on reviews, and it is my desire to make every effort, to let you know how wonderful BTV is. And you can rest, in complete confidence, knowing that BTV will do all they can to make the memories of your event just as you envisioned -- perfect and stress-free. Kudos to them!

Our wedding was this past weekend in DC and we used Black Tie Video. Jim Skipper was our videographer - you can tell he's a pro. I don't know how he did it, but I feel like I barely saw him. He knows how to position himself so that he isn't in the way, and on top that he is such a nice guy and really takes the time to get to know you and your style. Our highlight video is amazing, and we couldn’t be happier. Our final cut is a beefy 90 minutes long and we cherish every single one of those minutes! The small moments that happened that we were too distracted to remember, those are the reasons you have a videographer.
For professionalism, you can’t do better than Black Tie Video. Not only does Jim make sure that you have what you want, he asks questions about things you didn’t even know you wanted or realize you needed. As brides we lose focus a lot, so having a vendor that ACTUALLY looks out for you, well that is so super important, and something that people often take for granted.
My husband Brad and I recently experienced the profound loss of his father. While working on the obituary and going through photos we remembered that Jim had captured Brad’s parent’s anniversary dance from our reception. We were hundreds of miles away from home and though we had the full cut from our wedding, knew nothing about video editing. Our wedding had occurred nine months prior, and Jim owed us nothing, but I emailed him in the hopes he could help us by isolating the dance and sending it to us so we could share it at the remembrance. Jim, being the kind of vendor that actually looks out for his clients, pointed out he also had footage of a short speech that my husband’s father gave at the reception, and offered to isolate that as well. Within 2 hours we had both clips at our fingertips, able to show to family and friends, and remember a man that was full of life and joy. It was thanks to Jim that we were able to share those two moments. It was because we hired a man that made me feel when I spoke to him for the first time that he was a genuinely good person. If you’re in doubt of whom you should hire as a videographer, just speak to Jim, you’ll feel by the time you get off of the phone that he is the right person for your big day, we know he was the right person for ours.

I contacted Jim and he quickly told me he had our wedding date opened and he was extremely familiar with Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. That eased my mind and we booked him. I can easily say that this was the best decision I have ever made. Jim and his wife were absolutely incredible the entire night. They were there and ready to go for all of the "behind the scenes" time prior to the ceremony and stayed until the very end. The extreme added bonus was the afternoon after our wedding I received an email from Jim with a 3 minute sneak peek video. I am incredibly happy that I got a videographer and so great duo that I was able to find Black Tie Video. They are an absolutely AMAZING company!

Jim was great - He worked with me leading up to the wedding, and got a really good idea of what our style was. He was super helpful in giving us some advice and was on top of things the day of, capturing everything. He was not intrusive during the actual event. Based on my research, I feel like we got a great value- two videographers for the whole day to capture everything, a 5-7 minute highlight reel and then the full couple hour video. He worked with us to pick the music we wanted on the videos, and sent us 3 DVDs so we could share with our families! I am so glad we worked with Jim, and I would highly recommend his services to anyone! (I cried the first time I saw our highlight video!)

After some bad luck, (our venue closed 55 days before our date &the owner went to jail for tax fraud &more), we got some really GOOD luck when both Barbara and Jim were available for my "new" wedding date :) When I first went to meet Jim, we ended up talking for over 2 hours &I knew we had our decision made! Then, during our planning &re-planning chaos, I asked Jim, "What is your perspective on a new date/a new location?",his first&immediate response was "Our perspective is-we are really excited to shoot your wedding &look forward to hearing the new plan as soon as you know." I doubt that many people will deal with some of the things we did, &I also doubt that many go looking for a videographer based on how they handle "jail time" &"tax fraud" being mixed in with planning, but I have to include this info so you can understand the full experience we had w/them! I realized how important it was to truly LIKE the people you're working with, not just their work. I am so grateful that we booked BlackTieVideo -they were so understanding, supportive, &patient when we were trying to figure out a new date/location (even though it meant that they had turned down many inquiries about our original date, &ended up being free after all!) So, with all of those added factors that we never could've planned for/hoped they would handle well, we are also so happy with their professionalism &pleasant nature through the day. I always felt like it must be so strange to be followed with a video camera for 8hrs, but Barbara &Jim are so good about being in the background, sneaking around&catching great moments of the day. We have seen only a sneak peek so far, but I didn't want to wait to review:) The highlight was amazing, &we received it THE NEXT DAY-a great gift from J&B to continue reversing our bad luck! Wow! Black Tie Video sure did make it easy! I showed up to the chapel and there they were all set up and capturing us as we prepared for the ceremony! Jim definitely put me at ease from the very beginning. He knew the chapel well and was able to capture all the important footage! At the reception, I barely even noticed he was there! He did an amazing job at staying out of the way, but yet still getting up close for all the best moments! Jim was so helpful along the way and he has created a video that we will forever have to remember our special day! I strongly recommend using Black Tie Video!

Black Tie Video did an awesome job. From the very beginning, when I was booking all our vendors, Jim was very easy to get in contact with and answered all my questions I had in the beginning. Before the big day, he answered my emails at all times of the day with all the last minute worries a bride has and made sure everything was set for the day of the wedding. We had a lot going on at our wedding during the reception including dancing, a mechanical bull, moon bounce, horseshoes, corn hole and lots of other activities in a big field. Barbara and her assist did an awesome job of capturing all the different activities and all the most important parts of our big day. They were all around and didn't miss anything from the getting ready all they way to the end of the night on the dance floor. And Jim did an amazing job putting together our video. The montage video is perfect, I have watched it over and over again. And we love our long film as well. It as all the important parts of the wedding and it is a great way to go back and revisit our big day over and over again. We have enjoyed sharing the video with family and friends. Black Tie Video did an awesome job and are very reasonably priced. And we now have the memory for a lifetime of our wedding day!

Wedding photos are a staple, but after having Black Tie video capture my wedding I'm convinced that a video is just as important. The video caught the feeling of the moment, the music in the moment, the cheers of joy! Jim captured moments of my wedding that I had no idea even happened because being a busy bride the day goes by in the blink of an eye. Literally. I couldn't be happier with our decision to hire Black Tie. They are so professional and courteous. They definitely know what they're doing. Jim was very discreet while recording - he didn't push or pull me. He just recorded the real moments as they happened. It was so candid which is exactly what we wanted. The final product is so beautiful and very well done. If you're even considering a videographer look no further - you have found the perfect one! Seriously - just go for it; don't waste time and lose memories wishing you had booked.

Jim and Barb were fantastic. They arrived early at our event to ensure that all their cameras and angles were set up properly. They were easy to work with and did such a fantastic job on our final video. We asked Jim to do a fragmented narrative style video, in which he would overlay speeches and other vocals with different scenes from our wedding. The end result was beautiful and we will always treasure having those "live" memories from our wedding. He and Barb delivered excellent value for our money and were very accommodating with our requests. We would highly recommend working with them for your wedding video!

When planning my wedding we actually didn't plan to have a videographer until the very last minute and luckily Jim was available for our day. I am so happy that we did because during that time you miss so much that is going on and Jim and his wife were there to capture every moment. Black Tie Video was a joy to work with! A videographer was not on our original budget so we were not sure if we were going to have one. After seeing the video of our entire ceremony, our reception, and our highlights video not having Black Tie Video film our special day would have been a huge regret! Our Blur-Rays and DVDs just arrived a few days ago and I must say: Black Tie Video did an absolutely fantastic job with covering our wedding. In addition to capturing the ceremony and reception incredibly well (with multiple cameras used for the actual wedding), Jim was also very responsive to some of our additional requests in the editing process, and wound up including nearly all of the dancing portion of the night, which was super important to us. My wife and I were really pleased with the end result, and we'd definitely recommend Black Tie Video to anyone in the area.

We used Black Tie Video for my daughter's Big Fat Greek Wedding last April and they were fabulous. The highlight video that they created was so beautiful it brought tears to my friend's eyes. Black Tie Video was the perfect choice for my husband and I! We didn't want to spend too much money on our wedding video and Black Tie Video was right in our price range. Although, we didn't pay a high dollar amount, the video quality we received was just what we wanted. Jim Skipper and his team are wonderful to work with. We did not have to meet up before the wedding day. Over email I told Jim my preferences and they nail it. They showed up on the wedding day right on time and were a dream to work with. They were a vendor that I did not have to say a word to the entire time so I often forgot they were there. I actually didn't even get a chance to chat with Jim until later into the reception, but that did not matter. Somehow they showed up and caught every moment without out me even realizing they were there. Jim Skipper is very easy to work with. He makes sure that you love your video and will do anything to make that happen. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a good quality video, a reasonable price, and a genuine vendor to work with.

When my husband and I first got engaged, Black Tie Video was one of our first meetings that we set up. We loved the sample videos that Jim showed us. We booked them right away, almost 10 months before our wedding.

Two or three months out, when every bride and groom start worrying about money and how to cut costs, we thought maybe we shouldn't have gone with a photographer and videographer.

WE ARE SO HAPPY WE DID. The video is absolutely stunning and I can't imagine not having it now. The pictures are wonderful but having your entire day on video is something I will cherish forever.

After extensive research, my mom decided on Black Tie video for my wedding. I hadn't really decided that this was something I wanted but it was really important to her. I am SO glad she had the foresight to hire them. Your wedding day is far more of a blur than you would ever expect. There is so much on your mind and so much that you miss. My videos (you get two different lengths) have been priceless to me and worth every bit that we payed. Not only was Black Tie professional and easy to work with, but I think Jim Skipper is truly an artist. You aren't just getting documentation of your wedding, your getting really personalized and quality work. My sister got married two months after me and her videographer (in Boston) was incredibly disappointing. The quality wasn't anywhere close to Black Tie even though the price was similar. We have had friends request Black Tie after seeing our video and we are always eager to recommend him to anyone we know. Having Black Tie as our videographer was truly a highlight of our wedding!

The video is priceless as it captured all of the moments we remember fondly and also those moments we may not have noticed during all of the excitement. The professionalism and ease of working with Jim made the whole experience just delightful. He is truly a kind and great person to work with during the often busy time of a wedding. Additionally, he accommodated us far beyond what would be expected of a videographer and for that we have many more great moments captured on video than I could have hoped for, all set to great music.

The resulting video is just awesome, that's the only word to describe it. I did not realize how much I would cherish a video of the wedding, but seeing his work makes me ecstatic that I chose Black Tie Video. His manner of editing all of the footage he captured into a meaningful video is superb. Jim and Barbara work as husband and wife of Black Tie Video. They truly do deserve a rating of 5/5!!

We were referring to Black Tie Video from another bride. We gave Jim a call and he brought us into his home to give us the details on his services and he showed us a sample montage and video from a previous bride's wedding to give us the comfort of what he can provide. Jim was responsive leading up to the wedding, ensuring he was onto any necessary changes. The wedding day was scattered thunderstorms, but Jim and Barbara were there, barely noticeable and took great shots throughout the night, especially considering the on and off down pours!

Their prices are more than reasonable, they're in a good area and are willing to commute and will DEFINITELY provide you with great work!

I would HIGHLY recommend Black Tie Video. Good luck!

I have absolutely LOVED my experience with Jim and Black Tie Video!!! We received such wonderful service and would highly recommend them for any wedding or event! On our wedding day, they were able to capture everything without being intrusive or distracting. To be honest, I don’t even think we knew they were there most of the time, which was perfect for my shy groom!! They were able to capture all the natural moments we shared and I am forever grateful!

Jim & Barbara at Black Tie Video could not have produced amore perfect video. I finally after a year of "too busy" just sat and watched the entire 2 dvd's. Technically, the videos' are beautiful quality of close ups and more distant images and the sound quality also excellent. They included absolutely all the right footage of all the right moments and then some. They did video at our rehearsal dinner, in our small church, and our outside reception venue which was at Ladew Topiary Gardens, They filmed just enough really good garden background shots with people in them and some without. I honestly do not remember seeing them during the wedding, so much so that they slipped out at the end without my profusely thanking them. I especially liked their "black tie" attire which allowed them to move about hardly noticed. When I finished watching the video recently, I literally felt like I had just been there dancing and chatting with friends and family. BTW, I heartily recommend having them at rehearsal dinner! FYI, Barbara and her helper did our wedding day and I am sure whatever Jim & his helper did that day was just as excellent. Black Tie Video is incredible! We really wanted a videographer, but were hesitant and nervous. After contacting Jim, I knew we had to have a video and we had to have him. Their sample work was beautiful! And you get both an incredible montage and a full length version. The montage you can share with friends and not overwhelm them, while the full length version you can watch with your spouse over and over and whoever else wants to watch the whole thing. They have a lot of experience, and while they are open to direction, they certainly do not need it. They are definitely professionals and definitely know what they are doing. On the big day, I spoke with them, but honestly hardly knew they were there. They capture the most amazing moments of the best day of your life, while not being in the way. If you are thinking of getting a video, but are not sure, just do it! And use Black Tie Video! You will not regret it. The day goes by so fast, and pictures are beautiful, but they only tell half of the story. We were so busy and had so much fun, but did not even remember what all happened that night. But we knew we had a video coming and would be able to see everything we missed. We cannot be happier with the quality of the video we received, and the professionalism of Black Tie Video. They even have blu-rays! And their rating says it all... Definitely choose Black Tie Video!

Finding and then working with Jim was truly a blessing! I finally chose to add videography to my wedding budget after much urging from my mother, two weeks before my wedding and I'm glad I took her advice. Jim was extremely responsive and his willingness to work with my budget in addition to my last minute request, just proved how professional he was and how invested he was in doing a great job. He was always easy to get a hold of when I had a question. He and his wife were wonderful on my wedding day. They were not intrusive at all and they captured moments that both my husband and I missed. I was very happy with the final product and I would definitely recommend Black Tie Video to any bride or event planner.

Jim did the photo montage for our wedding and we showed it at the rehearsal dinner. It was absolutely amazing! We could not have asked for anything more, everyone loved it. We now have a photo montage that will last forever and will always remind us of our special day. Thanks Jim!!!

Barbara from Black Tie Video was our videographer and she did an amazing job. She was very unobtrusive, but captured the entire day beautifully. She and her husband Jim were fantastic to work with- very responsive to any questions, friendly, and took a genuine interest in making the video special for us to reflect our day. I could not be happier to have worked with them and would not hesitate recommending them. I felt we received personal attention and an amazing video that captured our special day and so many special moments. Thanks Barbara and Jim.

As my wife and I reflect on our very special day, the memories of the day and leading up to the day are a blur. Through our families suggestion, we added a video to our day. Was the best decision we could have made for our wonderful day. Jim, in a word was terrific. Professional, unobtrusive, all the guests loved him, and dealing with Jim through the whole process was seamless and frankly a joy.

Then the day came and went, and then the honeymoon and back to our lives. Then the video came. Jim, you captured our day and it was amazing and I cannot believe how perfectly you captured the essence of our day. IF u are reading this, and are looking for a fantastic videographer who will create a dream video and will make the process easy and someone who will capture the day, yet not even be visible, then Jim Skipper is your Videographer. Rachel and I cannot thank you enough. We will certainly refer you to anyone who wants video for any occasion. The Video blew us away and you were truly great to work with.

SHOULD YOU HIRE A VIDEOGRAPHER - YES YES YES!! SHOULD YOU HIRE JIM AND TEAM - YES AGAIN!!

I was one of those brides who didn't think that a videographer was something that I had to have for our wedding, although according to my new husband I seemed to be including EVERYTHING else!! Well we just saw our completed wedding video and I couldn't be happier with the fact that I reconsidered and contacted Jim at Black Tie Video. Having the whole event captured so beautifully is an amazing gift for you and your family. Our day was perfect and everything I could have asked for and being able to re-live all the little details is so exciting!! Our still photographer was amazing as well - but having the video to hear and see the event is truly magical. I can't say enough about Jim and his team and the perfect wedding gift that arrived just in time for our 6 month anniversary!!! Don't be turned off by the time it takes to get your video - the wait is totally worth it!!

We contacted Black Tie Video at the last minute and Mr. Skipper said he would be there! I loved our video! Mr. Skipper is so easy to talk to we even asked him to stay longer at the reception and he was more than flexible with us. Love love love. Pick Black Tie Video!!!!

I would highly recommend Black Tie Video. We have already watched our daughter's wedding video at least 10 times and shown it to all our friends. The quality is so amazing! I would highly recommend this vendor for videography. He responded to emails, and questions right away. He was great to work with, and captured every part of our wedding. The highlights and DVD we received are unbelievable, and something I am so happy I will have to one day show my own kids. My sister used the same vendor for her wedding, and we are both so happy we chose Black Tie Video for our videographer. It was worth every penny!

We found Jim at the last minute because I thought I didn't want a videographer. Well I am so glad I changed my mind! Jim was very easy to work with, and as we were in a time crunch and I was planning from a different state, we didn't even meet beforehand. But he gave me exactly what I asked for. I wanted him to blend in, and he did so well that I even forgot he was there. The professionalism in the editing work is amazing. There are so many little details he did that make it so worth it. My husband's exact words after watching the video were "I laughed, I cried, it was so good!" Thank you Jim for making our memories last forever!

My husband, parents and I could not have been more happy to have chosen Black Tie Video. We never even realized that he was taping us, and the video could not have been any better. We were able to relive the whole wedding by watching the DVD, and the montage recap at the end of the video was amazing! Thanks to Jim!!

We decided to hire a videographer at the last minute and we are so glad that we did! Jim at Black Tie video was a joy to work with the day of the wedding. He seamlessly coordinated with the other vendors - the photographer, the DJ, and the venue staff - and was gracious to everyone. He and his 2nd camera person were totally unobtrusive - I rarely noticed their presence throughout the day. But when we got the final video they had captured EVERY important moment - its such an amazing final product. Jim worked with us on choosing perfect music for the beginning and end of the video, and he and his partner captured wonderful footage of the ceremony and party. We have a beautiful and permanent record of that day that we will value for the rest of our lives. I recommend Black Tie video without any reservations.

My husband and I were very impressed with Black Tie Video. From the start everything was very easy. The day of the wedding was perfect and we could not have been more thrilled to get our video in such a timely manner. It looked wonderful and they captured so many different parts of the day (parts that we didn't even realize were being filmed which made it seem more real). I would choose Black Tie Video again in an instant.

Jim Skipper and Black Tie Video are absolutely top knotch!! I fortunately was able to get them on extremely short notice, we put together a plan and in about 2 weeks later everything went off without a hitch. They were fun, friendly and used the scenery (we were married on a yacht) to enhance the beauty of the video. They were always aware of the surroundings and never missed a chance for a good video shot. They even grabbed the photographer several times to make sure we didn't miss out on that perfect photo opportunity. I would highly suggest using Black Tie Video - they were one part of my wedding that was self sufficient - I never even new they were around!!

Black Tie Video came highly recommended by a family friend, and we are so glad we picked them. Jim Skipper was so pleasant throughout the whole process, and his experience and professionalism was evident throughout as well. They provide great bang for the buck; the quality of the work surpasses the cost. Jim and his wife captured all the important moments of our wedding and we are so pleased with our video. Jim and his wife were so good that my wife and I barely even realized they were at the wedding!

I would highly recommend Jim to anyone looking for very good quality at a very reasonable price.

Let me first start by saying that if you are on the fence about getting a videographer for your wedding, you should ABSOLUTELY do it!!! I love looking at pictures, but reliving your wedding day on film is an unmatched experience. The day is a blur and you want to relive your vows and all of those special moments that you may or may not have noticed or remembered.

Having said that, I highly recommend using Jim! He was so easy to work with and very responsive from start to finish. At the actual wedding, he blending right in - you didn't even know he was there. I've attended some weddings where the videographer is in your face and so obtrusive. Not Jim! He stayed around the perimeter of the ceremony and dance floor and still captured everything! He even honored my request to have our parents and my grandmom do quick "congratulations messages". The only things I wish could have been done is have audio of cocktail hour as people were saying "congrats" as the camera panned them and that the video had been longer (I would have loved to see the full day but companies in general don't seem to do that).The editing process was quick and I was so excited to have HD copies of the wedding - HD makes everything better! This was a great experience and Jim did a great job capturing and summarizing our day!

I didnt think I would want a videographer at our wedding, but my husband insisted, and I'm so thankful he did now! What a wonderful gift Jim and Barb have given us! To have our family, including our grandparents, at such a memorable occassion and on videotape is just amazing and something we can always look back on. They stayed until the very last minute of reception and captured everything I could ever imagine! I almost forgot that they were there, as they were not in anyone's way at all, but they still managed to get every detail. Thank you!

Jim Skipper/Black Tie Video was AMAZING! Jim was great to work with before, during and after our wedding. Responded to all our requests, including putting together our photo montage for our rehearsal dinner with short notice. Our wedding DVD turned out amazing! He spent a lot of time making it perfect! On our wedding day, no one ever even noticed he was there! He stays out of the way of your guests and does an amazing job. I would hire him again in a second!

Our wedding day was captured by Black Tie Video at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. They were wonderful! Before our wedding we spoke on the phone and went over details. Our video captured our entire wedding day which was great since there were certain parts we did not get to see like the cocktail hour since we were taking pictures. I recommend having 2 videographers. This allows for more to be taped. Our video was well put together with different background music. It was truly beautiful and we love being able to watch it over and over again! I highly recommend Black Tie Video!

We used Black Tie Video to cover our June 2012 wedding and I’m so glad that we did! Jim Skipper came highly recommended by two different people and was such a pleasure to work with. He produced a beautiful wedding video that we (and our family) will cherish for the rest of our lives. Jim was easy to work with and has such a great upbeat personality and attitude. Not to mention his customer service, he wants ALL of his clients to be happy and satisfied. This is the one wedding vendor that I did not have to worry about. He knew the time, date and location and took care of everything from a videography stand point. I know Jim was there the entire time filming, but I don’t remember seeing him. Photographs can only capture so much, having your wedding day captured on film allows you to relive that special day with all of the sounds, facial expressions and seeing everyone in motion. Black Tie Video are professionals and I promise you, you will not be disappointed with their work and service!

I wasn't sure if I wanted a videographer or not but decided to book one based on friend's recommendations. I am so glad that I did. Black Tie Video did a wonderful job of capturing the emotion and vibe of our wedding without being intrusive. Most of the time, we hardly noticed they were there! Jim and his wife are very friendly and professional and captured our wedding so well. I highly recommend them to anyone even considering a videographer - you won't be sorry when you receive all of the fun dance floor footage and ceremony moments that you either didn't see or forgot about months after your big day!

We were without a videographer two weeks before our wedding and I received a response to a paniced email from Jim Skipper. I couldn't believe that he was available only two weeks out and he was absolutely fantastic to work with. He was quick to respond to any and all of our questions and I am really looking forward to seeing the footage that he was able to get. When he was filming you rarely saw him throughout the course of the evening, but when he knew there was a good shot to get- he would make sure and point us in the right direction. Purely out of coincidence our reception on the water was made even more magical by a full moon and Jim did not miss the opportunity to get some good shots of us with the moon in the background. I would reccomend Jim Skipper and Black Tie Video to anyone looking for a videographer in the MD/DC area.

I'm amending my rating (paragraph below) for Black Tie. I did wait a little while time before being contacted, but since my post, Black Tie has been nothing but responsive and and have done a great job on our montage, and I'm sure will do the same for the video. I actually feel bad for giving 3 out of 5 stars before, because they responded to my not being 100% satisfied RIGHT away (and even then I still would have recommend them). So higher rating given, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Black Tie.

Jim from Black Tie was on time, very nice and pleasure to work with. We had a great wedding and felt the prices were good. Unfortunately, I can't speak to the video quality for our day (which was in August) because we haven't gotten the video - and won't get it until early next year...we hope. Also I attempted to contact someone over at Black Tie for 2 months before someone answered an email to inform me. I might have chosen to pay a little more with someone else if I knew BT wouldn't get a tape to us in time for the holidays. :( I'd maybe recommend them, but be prepared to wait 8 to 9 months before getting your video. Perhaps they'll hire staff to handle their recent growth...

We knew from the beginning that we wanted a videographer since the majority of my husband's family could not make the wedding (he's from Costa Rica). A month before the big day we were still without this one key vendor. As I called around, Black Tie Video was the only one who was able to fit our budget. Jim and his wife Barbara did a phenomenal job from start to finish. They didn't miss a beat. We entered the wedding ceremony via sailboat along with the entire bridal party. Barbara went along for the ride and caught some amazing footage. During the ceremony and reception, no one even knew they were there. The final video proved us wrong. They recorded every single detail and then some. The video montage brought us to tears as well as all of the special attention put into the full length film. It is the most beautiful compilation of our wedding day that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We cannot wait to make the trip back to CR to share the video with all of my husband's family and friends. Thanks again Jim and Barbara for filming the most amazing day of our lives!

My mom booked our videographer, and managed to find this great team all while doing research from her home in California. Jim and Barb were great to work with--they invited me to their home and went over all the details, from pictures for photo montages to the types of music we wanted in the video. We had 2 videographers at the wedding and reception, and I never noticed them. They got some great shots that we will always cherish, and I still cry (with happiness) when I watch the video.

My only quibble was that their lead time in getting your video back to you can be up to 6 months. They were very good about getting back to us during that time, though, so we never really felt like we were left in the lurch. And the finished product made it worth the wait.
