From start to finish, I had an amazing experience purchasing my wedding dress from Bijou. Appointments always ran on schedule. All of the staff members were friendly and went out of their way to come say “hi” each visit. The woman who helped me find my dress listened and was helpful but wasn’t pushy at all. Alterations were very smooth. My mom also found her dress there and had an equally great experience with the staff there, both during the purchase and alterations. Everything was kept on time and on budget. Would definitely recommend!! -

I am not a shopper, so I started off thinking that finding a wedding dress was going to be tough for me. I went to Bijou Bridal after already visiting 2 other salons, but wasn’t absolutely confident I had found the one. They have a great selection of dresses in all different styles and at no point did I feel pressured to buy anything. I thought I found the one, but didn’t want to buy anything the first day I tried on, so I decided to sleep on it. I made a second appointment to go back and try on the dress I knew I wanted and said yes! The most important part is that the woman helping me took accurate measurements. I have seen so many horror stories of brides being improperly measured at the salon and being told that most people lose weight to fit into a dress. That is absolutely not the case here and not once did they make me feel bad about the size I am or that I should feel pressured to diet before the wedding. After she took my measurements she even confirmed with me that everything was correct and that based on those measurements I should order this particular size. I was told it would take 8-10 months to arrive, which was accurate (I ordered February 2022 and it arrived November 2022). When it did come, I scheduled an appointment to go try it on because I was excited, something the store had no issue with. The salon had a flat fee for alterations (at the time I went it was $595) and it was worth every penny because my seamstress was AMAZING. I worked with Diana and had 3 appointments. She was very easy to work with, recommended a bustle style to me and a hem length (she took just the right amount off but said if I wanted more I could). She had me walk around in it to make sure I was comfortable and on my last appointment, she showed my stepmom how to properly bustle the dress and was so patient as my dad stood there taking a video so she would remember how to do it the day of. As someone who hates shopping and was terrified of this whole process, I am so happy I chose this shop because of how comfortable they made me feel. I had zero dress regret from the moment I made my first payment and would recommend this place to anyone. -

I truly don't know where to begin with this review, but I guess I can start with a little context! I grew up in New Jersey, and now live in Brooklyn. When I was little, I remember driving past (the now old/previous storefront of) this bridal salon, and seeing all of the gowns glistening in the windows, and always thinking that it looked so luxurious and glamorous. Then, (we're fast-forwarding like 20 years here) I got engaged!
At first, my gown shopping experience (elsewhere) was honestly very painful and confusing. As a petite, curvy (size 14) bride, working with a fairly modest budget, shopping for a wedding gown in NYC was plainly awful. Pro-tip: do not even try. Nowhere had anything in my size, and especially anything in my budget, and coming out of dressing room after dressing room spilling out of size 4 samples of dresses that were two times my budget, ready to surrender to spanx and overspending, was an extremely un-empowering and upsetting process. As a person who works in the art world, and who loves fashion, and who was planning a big and colorful wedding, I wanted a statement gown that matched my personality and also complimented my fiance's statement outfit. The best that NYC boutiques could offer me within my size and budget was frumpy, lacy, BORING, spanx-required depression-- with hefty sales tax!!!
Enter Sandy, Lisa, Barbara, and the whole Bijou squad.
When my mom and I went to Bijou, we weren't sure what to expect. We had just had an awesome appointment at a plus-sized bridal boutique down the street (which I do also HIGHLY recommend), and were 99% sure we had found "the" dress. I showed Sandy a picture of the dress, and she was like "oh...we are going to do so much better than that." I didn't believe her at first, but she saw into the future, for sure! The first dress she showed me, on the mannequin, was the dress I wore on my wedding day-- and she told me it would be. When she first showed it to me, my mom and I side-eyed each other because it was NOTHING like what I imagined I would wear. I was thinking pop of color, sleeves, higher neck, tons of embellishment, something boho. This dress was one-shoulder, all-ivory, and had a giant-ass bow on the back. But, when I put it on, even in the tiny sample size, I didn't want to take it off. I felt fashionable, dramatic, bold, unique, and somehow still very classic and bride-y. Two weeks later, we returned to buy the dress. And it is one hell of a dress.
This is where it gets crazy. When the war in Ukraine broke out, roughly three months before my wedding, I vaguely remembered that my gown was being made somewhere in Eastern Europe, and was expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Lo and behold, my dress was actually being made IN Ukraine. The Bijou team and their communication was absolutely remarkable and sturdy during this unbelievably unpredictable and stressful situation, calling me every week or so to update me not only on the status and safety of my dress but also of the dressmakers. When my mom called in a panic to say that we needed a back up plan or a dress B, they were firm and confident in the fact that that would be unnecessary. My dress arrived, in one piece, after being sent over the border to Poland, earlier than expected. What a crazy story.
When my dress arrived, I was very anxious about it fitting because of all of the awful pressure out there in the universe for brides to be perfect. When I met Barbara, my Bijou seamstress, every single drop of worry melted away. I knew she would make me look perfect. She is a miracle worker, a godsend, and a rockstar. LOVE YOU BARBARA!! Luckily, no real structural changes had to be made to my dress, as it fit like a glove. However, Barbara, a true artist, worked tremendously through at least four fittings to sculpt the dress to be absolutely perfect in every which way. She truly went above and beyond, and made my dress MINE, from adding pockets, to adjusting the dramatic draping to compliment my shorter frame, to tweaking each and every inch of that gown. When I look at every single photo from my day, I think of how grateful I am for Barbara and her undying commitment to making that dress SING. During a time in my life where I was not at peace with my body (where are my other covid-stress-eaters at!?) Barbara, Sandy, Lisa, and the whole Bijou team made me feel like a literal goddess. I have so much love for everyone who works here. Thank you all to the moon and stars and back for finding, ordering, shepherding through war, and customizing the most perfect dress. -

I cannot say how happy I am with my dress! It is a combination of everything I wanted for my dress and I thought it wouldn’t be possible! It just shows me how I believe sandy is her name, was paying attention to the smallest details I showed her. Their service was excellent and extremely welcoming. We had. A great time and the changing rooms itself are so nice. I had a great experience! I can’t wait for my wedding day even more now! -

BEST EXPERIENCE! Thanks to Despina & Sobeyda
My second location and by far the best! Despina was amazing! She asks for your budget and guides you to dresses that are within price range. She would listen to what you are looking for and pull out some pieces that describe that. She recorded my experience at the end when my ladies showed their cards and helped me say YES to the DRESS!!! Best experience! Then came the altering part. I was nervous, but Sobeyda knows her stuff!! She is very ON POINT! She knows what will flatter your body and makes it an easy process! I loved everything. MY dress was perfect!! Thank you ladies!! -

Ofcourse, every bride wants to find the perfect dress for their big day! Let me tell you, I walked into Bijou Bridal as my first wedding dress shopping experience. I was not expecting to find my dress the first day looking. Boy was I wrong! I showed a picture of what I was looking for and she literally found one that was so similar, you would think it was the same dress. Ofcourse, the dress was beyond perfect!! I said yes to the dress and could not have been happier! I will always thank Bijou Bridal for the wonderful experience. They really helped me feel like a soon to be bride without any of the stress. Also, Barbara! I want to take a moment to rave about how wonderful this woman is! She really helped turn my dream dress into a reality. I absolutely loved working with her at my dress fittings. She made me feel so comfortable and overall happy. Thank you again a million times! I 100% recommend Bijou Bridal! -

I had an amazing experience with everyone at Bijou Bridal in Paramus. They made finding a wedding dress SO easy and they were the only boutique I visited. They have an amazing selection that has tons of variety but isn't overwhelming. They also had high quality and more affordable dresses available through their own line. I loved how they let me and my family browse their showroom and select the gowns that I would try on. Once I found my dress, they were so helpful and accommodating with alterations. They did a great job lining the bodice of my dress (it was originally see through) and helping me find a matching veil. Everyone I worked with was so kind and helpful. They always took their time with me during appointments and explained all the options available to me throughout the process. They truly made the experience so great and I highly recommend them to any future brides! -

I could not recommend Bijou Bridal enough! After weeks of trying to schedule a dress appointment in NYC, I called Bijou and was able to get right in. I went alone and found my dress right then and there. The ladies at the store made me feel like family and not saying "yes to the dress" by my lonesome! So appreciated!!! -

I cannot say enough good things about bijou bridal. Bijou was the first bridal salon I went to and had Kelly as my sales person. She was amazing and was so patient as I proceeded to try on what felt like a million dresses. She also helped pick out a few that fit my style (including my eventual wedding dress). The selection of dresses was amazing and I loved how I could pull dresses that I liked right off the rack. When my dress finally came in, Barbara was the one who did my alterations. She was fabulous. She made my dress fit me perfectly and I could not have been happier with the result. Everyone at the New Jersey location was fabulous from sales, to the ladies at the front desk, to the ladies doing the alterations. I could not have asked for a better experience and would recommend Bijou to all future brides looking for their perfect dress! -

Bijou was my first shop that I went too and it was my last I never expected to find my dress so quickly! I found it in only two weekends! Everyone is so nice, patient and accommodating. My consultant was the best she went through every single style with me. I thought I had a vision of what I wanted and then it turned out not to be the right fit she helped me find the dress that fit my body perfectly. I can’t wait til it comes in. I’m also getting my bridesmaids dresses there as well and they were so helpful with helping me pick out different styles for them. If your looking for a great experience and your dream dress this is your shop! -

I thought I would never be able to find the dress I wanted in my price range. I spent 2800 on my dress including alterations and it was worth every penny. I ordered my dress in January 2019. It was made and delivered on May 1st (most people would panic, but I was losing weight so I wanted as much time as possible). I had my first fitting May 1st, my second fitting May 6th, and was able to pick it up by May 9th. The alterations were done so well and were absolutely flawless (thank you Soveida!).
If you buy your dress the first time you visit, you get an extra discount (10 or 15%, I can't remember). So, I suggest you dress shop a little before coming here so that you get an idea of what you want. Make an appointment! -

This was the first store I went to try on gowns and I am so glad that I did. I walked in and was instantly greeted with friendly faces and my girls and I were brought right up to look at the gowns. The woman who assisted me with the gowns was so incredibly helpful, she actually picked out a dress the exact opposite of what I was thinking and when I tried it on I knew that was going to be my wedding gown. I bought my dress that same day and I could not of had a better experience, I am so excited to try in on when it arrives in July. -

Megan Sent on 07/23/2018I just purchased my stunning wedding gown this past weekend at Bijou Bridal in Paramus, NJ. I had the most wonderful experience! Everyone who works there is so friendly and my consultant Haley was seriously the sweetest ever. She listed to my likes and dislikes, had me look through the dresses for any that caught my eye, and my family did the same.
She noticed me gravitate to a dress on a mannequin a few times and pulled it right off for me to try on. It was the first wedding dress I ever tried on, and it was the one I fell in love with. I proceeded to try on a total of eleven dresses to rule out different styles and silhouettes, but number one was my dress! Haley listened to all the things I told her I loved in a dress and it literally checked off every single one.
Such a great consultant. Such a wonderful experience. So glad I found Bijou Bridal online and decided to make the 1.5 hour drive to them, rather than staying local and risking settling.

I was blown away by their designer choices, especially their designer that is unique to Bijou. The bead work on my dress was absolutely stunning and I could not have asked for a smoother process with my dress and my bridesmaids dresses as well. Thank you!

Booking my appt. during the week allowed more privacy to look at and try on the dresses. So many beautiful styles to choose from and the prices are completely affordable. A gracious thank you to Barbara for her magic touch with alterations, the dress fit like it was made for me. Also, multiple other staff during my alteration appts. went above and beyond to ensure any question etc. was answered. I am so glad I choose Bijou.

I went to the shop with ZERO expectations of buying anything, especially after an unpleasant visit from another boutique a few weeks prior. I went thinking that I would never be able to find the dress I love in my budget well I was so wrong! Despina is the lady who helped me and allowed me and my family to pull dresses we liked. She knew exactly what I wanted and saved the best dress for last. Even though I was not planning on it, there was no way I could pass up this opportunity to buy the dress of my dreams in my budget. I highly recommend this boutique to any bride. Also ask for an appointment with Despina- she really knows her stuff. She was honest, knowledgeable, and considerate. I am SOO happy I made the appointment at BIjou! -

I went into the store with no idea what kind of dress I wanted Despina was absolutely fantastic!! She helped me find the best kind of dress that fit my style and body. Found my perfect dress right away, but looked at other stores just to look around.My advice- don't waste your time shopping around! I found my dress there and ever since the first day I chose it the process to turn it into my dream dress was flawless. The seamstress Daloris who worked on my gown spent so much time with me to make sure it was perfect. She even went above and beyond to include a special piece of material in my gown from one of my mother's articles of clothing. The dress still gets talked about about how stunning it was. I loved everything about my dress and so many people have asked where I got it. I recommend them all to Bijou to find their perfect dress as well.
Mine was a Stefan Jolie gown which is the Bijou designer, it was perfection. -
