We went to Paul and his crew (at Big Island Tents) for tables and chairs and came back with so much more! If you are throwing an event of any kind, these guys are professionals. They have tons of great options for your basics like tables, chairs and beautiful tents all the way up to party decorations and details we would have forgotten. They were organized, professional and easy to work with- from the first call to the office to the set-up crew. Impressed!

But what made our wedding stand out? The awesome lighting under the coconut trees. Paul talked me in to this one- at first I thought it sounded cheesy. He was right- it was stunning, subtle and it truly set the mood for the event! I recommend BIT for all your party needs.

We HIGHLY recommend Big Island Tents! Very professional and helpful from the first moment of contact. Quick to respond and answer all of my questions. We rented a tent, tables, chairs, heaters, and lighting. They were all done beautifully and exactly how we wanted it. Thank you Paul and crew! You guys are the best!

The owners of Big Island Tents were extremely professional and gave the best service imaginable. They were always quick with communication, patient and willing to talk through many options for our wedding, and really took care of us. Our wedding date happened to fall on the one day between to hurricanes and yet Big Island Tents was willing to set-up and take-down the tent despite less than ideal conditions. They were very responsive and reliable. Thank you so much for the most gorgeous wedding, the tent was so beautiful!

We got married in a remote location and were worried about rain ruining our celebration but also wanted to maintain a certain look/feel. Paul walked us through our tent and lighting options from A to Z including table layouts and made everything much easier. They were friendly and professional and I would recommend their services for any special event!

They were great to work with, esp since we were coordinating from overseas - very accommodating and helpful with all our questions. And they were very considerate of our budget and didn't try to over sell us!

I cannot say enough great things about Big Island Tents. We have worked with them for several of our larger events. In preparation for the events, the Big Island Tents team is available and proactive with communication. The set-up and takedowns are always painless and every staff member friendly and helpful! Bob and Paul Simms are the best to work with along with Sky Harris who does their lighting. Big Island Tents and the services they offer are very professional, have great ideas if you find yourself indecisive and are always accommodating to your needs. These guys are genuinely great guys who want you to have the wedding/event of your dreams. Big Island Tents is so professional and accommodating. They made my son's wedding at Kahua Ranch look absolutely fabulous. We rented a clear tent with fabric drapes, side walls and tent legs, twinkle lights, chandeliers, farm tables, gorgeous wooden chairs, lounge furniture, fire pits, torches, wooden bar, teak dance floor and stage for band. Bar none the best decor vendor on the Big Island

We looked high and low for all of our vendors when planning our wedding. Since we did all of the planning ourselves it was very important that the vendors we picked provided excellent service, fit within our budget, and were communicative about things early so that we could respond to them in a way that fit our needs. Big Island Tents delivered on all fronts. They were able to work with us to creatively solve problems that came up last minute, and were more than willing (and certainly able) to help us deliver on those solutions in a way that ended up providing the core of a fantastic event. We loved the final product, and our guests had nothing but good things to say about it as well. When planning an event where many vendors seemed to be laid back to the point of it being a challenge, Big Island Tents stood out as absolute professionals and smooth operators and ensured our event was everything we wanted. Five stars, would recommend, and happy to advocate for their services at any time.

Efficient and Professional

We reached out to Paul and team earlier in the year, not really sure what we needed or what our vision was. They were very patient and great with communication. They really took the time to answer all of our questions and help us rent the right pieces for our wedding. We were having a small intimate (25 guests) wedding and just needed a few items. We rented their farm tables and mahogany chairs, and they were beautiful for our location and dinner. Along with that, we were on the fence with renting a tent, not sure if it would be a waste of money. It was perfect! We rented the 20' x 30' clear top tent with the lighting package, and it added that perfect element to our wedding, and kept our guest dry when it decided to rain briefly after our ceremony.

The games were also a great hit with all the kids, and the kids at heart.

We loved the professionalism of the installation team, they were quick efficient and made sure to leave as little impact as possible on the grounds and property. We highly recommend using their set up and tear down service, it was a life saver, and it helped us manage our time better.

The Best!!

We rented some peacock chairs from Big Island Tents for our wedding reception. The chairs were beautiful and we are glad we used them! They made our pictures turn out extra special! Big Island Events was very easy to work with, and reasonably priced. Can’t help but recommend them for your wedding or event!!

Best Service Around

These guys were great! They came recommended from my wedding coordinator Kate Hickey with Sunshower Weddings. They showed up the day before the wedding and set up the tent and all of the tables and chairs just where we wanted, including an additional ceremony setup. Even the guys who took down the tent/packed up were really nice!

They were professional at every step of the way, kind, and an absolute joy to work with. Having them as a vendor for our special day put our minds at ease. They transformed our wedding into what we had dreamt of! Would highly recommend!

Big island tents was amazing! We had a wedding off the grid in Waipio Valley and the day of set up had torrential rain and flooding. They agreed to come back down the 4-wheel drive early the next morning in spite of having another event in Kona they had to set up for. Everything turned out great thanks to BIg island Tents willingness to go "the extra mile" literally !

Our company (The Feeding Leaf) used Big Island Tents for an event that we did at Hulihe`e Palace. Their tent... saved our event!. The service levels are unbelievable... the tent arrived and was set up on time. They also provided tables, chairs, linens, lighting... all of the equipment was is excellent condition. And when we arrived to set up, everything was ready to go! But again, the service levels are outstanding. Bob, Paul and the team at Big Island Tents are easy to work with, kind, accommodating and so pleasant. We are striving to get our service levels to their standards. We are happy to partner with Big Island Tents on all of our events here on Hawaii Island.

Big Island Tents are absolutely the best! I have used their tents for large corporate events on the Big Island and Kauai.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with the men from Big Island Tents. Our event was held at Pukalani Stables in Kamuela and they handled all the details for us. Being from Kona, we didn't know much about the weather or the venue. Paul took great care of us and made everything easy. They arrived for setup exactly when they said they would and were fast. Big Island Tents was wonderful to work with. I highly recommend them. We rented the 20x20 Tent, Farm Tables (loved them), padded chairs and the arbor structure. Everything was set up as we requested the day before the event. Paul was professional and responsive. The only thing I might have done differently was used a bigger tent. There were only 25 of us, but when the rain came we had to squeeze together a bit. I was SO thankful for the tent during the downpour. All items from Big Island Tents made my daughter's wedding day absolutely wonderful!

I worked with Paul Simms from Big Island Tents and he went above and beyond for us! Originally we wanted to do café lighting throughout the entire venue but with no tent. I was hesitant because 1. The wedding was in Hilo (the rainy side) and 2. Without the tent there wouldn't be anything to hang the lights on to create that "starry night" look. But Paul put our worries to ease by offering a back-up tent in the event that it would rain and then he said that they could create a perimeter for the lighting to give us exactly what we wanted. Then came the week of the wedding. We checked the weather forecast which called for rain and we started to freak out. So to be safe we decided to go for their 40x100 tent which wasn't within our budget so we had to downgrade from our beautiful café lighting to just the basic lighting. I then went to meet with Paul the day before our wedding at our venue and I was just blown away! The tent was absolutely perfect and to my surprise there was café lighting strung out throughout the entire tent just the way I originally wanted it! Paul then told me that he knew how much we really wanted the café lighting and it was such a large tent that no other lighting would do it justice so they decided to just give it to us anyway. I mean how awesome is that!! We also ordered round and 8ft tables, white resin chairs, and white chivari chairs which they custom made just for us too!

Big Island Tents is by far the best place to go to in Hawaii if you're planning on having any type of event! They have everything you need and then some. They will go above and beyond for you and give you nothing but the absolute best products and service! Big Island Tents provided the tenting, tables, chairs, and labor for a series of small and large-scale dinner receptions and concerts my company produced at the Fairmont Orchid last October. Almost all of the planning on my part was done remotely from California, but to be honest, Paul and Bob did the majority of the legwork for us! They managed my (admittedly high volume of) requests with patience and were proactive in resolving potential issues before they arose. They also went above and beyond to source every single item we asked for even if it wasn't in their immediate inventory.

As an event manager, in addition to ensuring the show runs smoothly, it's also my job to manage every aspect of the install and break down - but Paul, Bob and their amazing crew made my job absolutely stress-free and easy. Not only are they professional, efficient, and amazing at what they do, but they do their work with a smile. I only wish I had their support on every event we produced. Their whole crew was wonderful and an absolute pleasure to work with... I would recommend them in a heartbeat!

Big Island Tents are the very best! They were so nice and wonderful to work with and helped to make my wedding everything I had envisioned and more. On the day before my wedding when I saw them setting up, I burst into happy tears, knowing that everything was going to be beautiful and perfect, and it was and so much more.

I might have been a high maintenance bride as I was doing all of the planning myself (with the help of my fiancee) and sent numerous emails to the staff at Big Island Tents, they were always prompt and helpful with all of their responses. I feel that this company is not just about making money, they are about making clients happy on their most important day. They are a wonderful Big Island vendor and I highly recommend them if you are planning a wedding or another event. Thank you!

Big Island Tents went above and beyond to make our wedding day PERFECT. With their years of experience they were able to assist us on many decisions, from tent and dance floor size to amount of tables and chairs. They were also available by phone prior to the wedding to answer a lot of questions we had. The crew came and put up the tent and dance floor in a timely and professional manner and they were so friendly that we ended up inviting them to our wedding. All in all I couldn't have asked for more. I would definitely recommend Big Island Tents to anyone that wants to make sure their day goes perfectly.

Thanks to Big Island Tents for the wonderful service. The tent was put up quickly and taken down when promised. We used the Tent to have our company Christmas party at Parker Ranch and the day of the event turned out to be exceptionally windy and rainy. We called early that morning to get another side for the tent and Paul came out quickly and took care of us. I would highly recommend Big Island Tents.

Big Island Tents did an amazing job of bringing our DIY Wedding to life on May 17, 2018!

We had our wedding in the backyard of our vacation home rental so we had to rent everything from tables to chairs and lighting from Big Island Tents. From the very start, Paul and Bob were so prompt at responding to us when we asked for an initial quote and were very helpful when we had questions or asked about other items to rent.

We were concerned that there would be rain on the day of our wedding, but Paul and Bob were there for us when we asked about whether we should get a last minute tent (we decided against one and thankfully, it didn't rain!).

The delivery guys arrived on time for set-up and pick-up and were really friendly and nice to work with. The lighting guy literally just asked us what we wanted, I showed him a photo and he said "I can do better than that" and got right to working away, creating the most amazing pattern of lights that honestly made our wedding so so beautiful.

These guys are such professionals and know exactly what they're doing. Thank you Big Island Tents for a wonderful experience and for helping us make our dream wedding a reality!!

I highly recommend Big Island Tents! They are very professional get back to you Ina timely manner no matter how many questions you ask and I asked a lot. They have so many option for lighting decor etc. You can check of so many things by working with them. They drop off and pick up so you have nothing to worry about.

Big Island Tents is unbelievable. We are so glad we chose them for the majority of all the rentals we needed for our wedding. From the beginning, both Paul and Bob were wonderful to deal with. They are extremely professional, responded quickly to my emails and phone calls and provided updated quotes along the way. I had a lot of unique ideas and things I wanted to incorporate into our wedding and they did not hesitate at all - in fact, they found me exactly what I was looking for each time. Make sure to ask them about specific items you're looking for because if they don't have something, they can likely get it and they keep adding to their inventory of rental items. I looked at all the rental companies on the island and did my research, and my opinion they are the BEST. Best range of products, best prices, and the ultimate people to deal with. Their level of customer service and ensuring each event is done to the best of their abilities is unmatched. We had a last minute surprise at our venue that required some creativity and changes to our tent and set up plan. Bob and Paul went out of their way to ensure I didn't have to deal with the stress of it and to make the space as amazing as they could. Their crew is wonderful. I made specific requests on where to hang chandeliers from the trees, how to hang the cafe lights and they did exactly that, but made it look even better! If you are planning a wedding on the Big Island, make sure you hire Big Island Tents. You will not regret it. They are absolutely wonderful and genuinely care about each event and their clients. The coordination was done pretty much all by email, which made it easier for us. The day before the event, we were a little late, they were on time! Fantastic company!

Working with Big Island Tents was fabulous. The staff in the office and the field are responsive and friendly. You can tell they enjoy their jobs! They returned my calls quickly and were quite accommodating and helpful when I needed to make adjustments. .. which is such a relief when you're planning an important event! Our wedding was held at Anna’s Ranch in Waimea where we rented several items including a tent, tables, chairs, stage etc. from Big Island Tents. Paul is absolutely amazing and was such a pleasure to work with. Our plans changed several times and Paul was very professional, efficient and accommodating which each change, I must have sent over 50 emails all of which he responded to promptly. We continued to add last minute items up until the day of the wedding with no problems. It was wonderful being able to get everything all in one place rather than renting from several vendors. Each staff member that we encountered was very friendly and helpful with answering our many questions.
Our wedding guest were absolutely amazed at how beautiful the tent and lighting was. It was such a pleasure working with Paul and Big Island Tents. I highly recommend Big Island Tents and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Big Island Tents have the best tents, lights, linens, tables, chairs for anyone's special events on the big island. We got married last weekend and worked with our wedding planning team on making sure we had the best tent to fit our location. We had amazing lights strung inside the tent and outside creating a really beautiful ambiance for our wedding ceremony and reception. Hawaii Island Festival is a very satisfied client of Big Island Tents. Working with the Simms' ohana makes the Waimea Ho'olaule'a setup worry free when it comes to their tents.

Due to the fact we receive grant funding, more than often the Simms' receive their check the day before the Ho'olaule'a. They have been very accommodating & gracious towards our situation.

Safety is of course the largest concern. However, working with Big Island Tents, we able to concentrate on other tasks at hand, knowing that the Simms ohana are on the grounds.

We had a wonderful experience using Big Island Tents for our recent wedding at Puakea Ranch on March 12, 2016. I rented their beautiful dark wood farm tables and matching dark wood padded folding chairs. Paul and Bob were professional, responsive and accommodating from start to finish. They were quick to respond to e-mails and phone calls, send invoices and on time for delivery and pick up. On the morning of our wedding, BIT were flexible and helpful as we figured out the best configuration for tables. We ended up pushing the tables together to create a long dramatic effect. The dark wood tables were absolutely beautiful on their own, so I only accented them with a burlap table runner, tropical floral centerpieces and votive candles. No table cloths necessary! Paul, Luke, Sky, and the whole team from Big Island Tents did an excellent job with our wedding! They were very easy to work with from the first planning stages through the event day and invoicing. We rented a 12x12 dance floor, bamboo ceremony arch, and strung lights. Paul was always very quick to respond to my emails, and answer any questions I had! We had a April wedding in Kamuela, where we anticipated a chilly and windy evening, which it was. I would highly recommend Big Island Tents, not only for the stylish tents that are used for formal events, but the tent was very sturdy, well installed & held up great to wind and some rain. What a blessing it was to work with the Big Island Tent group. We got married on September 8th, 2012 and had no intentions of using a marquee until the week of the event (literally days prior). The weather looked a bit scary for the day and we would have been devastated if we had to move the wedding indoors. Not only were Bob and Paul the nicest people to deal with, they took all of our fear away for the day's weather. They were incredibly flexible with the setup and removal times. And on the day we could not have asked for a more beautiful setting. As it turned out, we should have booked the tent months prior. It was the best part of our decor. Rain or shine I would not have changed a thing. Thank you so much for making our wedding so wonderful. I hope I can share pictures soon.

We rented a 40x80 tent for our May Day event and we had a wonderful experience with Big Island Tents. They were extremely professional, had excellent customer service, great quality tents, and fast set up/breakdown system. I would refer Big island tents to anyone. They where very professional as well as personal. I never had a problem they worked with us and our budget. Knew me by name and took a personal interest in our wedding. They where on time to deliver and set up and were even done when they said it would be. The lighting was beautiful! Beautiful lighting and professional team

We worked with Big Island Tents to rent lighting and speakers for our Welcome Party. While our event was rather simple, the Big Island Tents team treated our event with professionalism, skill, finesse, and I really felt like they prioritized our event and needs despite the size of the event. What I found most amazing was that they actually came and set up the beautiful lighting and sound system 36+ hours in advance of our event - this really gave me peace of mind that everything was ready to go! The whole team at Big island tents was really nice and easy to work with. I got in contact with them pretty late (close to my wedding date) and they very kindly accommodated my tent needs on what turned out to be a busy graduation weekend. Paul came out to take a look at the site since space was tight, let me know what size and number of tents would work, and was very prompt with email communication. When it came time for the wedding, the tent went up very quickly and looked great! Going with Big Island Tents was the best decision I made. My wedding was at Anna Ranch (an outdoor venue) and I needed to create a reception venue for 240 guests. I rented a beautiful clear tent, round tables, linens, dark wood padded chairs, a dance floor, café lighting, a generator and a couple bars. They were my one stop shop. I live in San Diego and planning a wedding 2,500 miles away was a little stressful :) However, I never stressed about my rentals. Paul was extremely helpful and responsive. He understood what I needed, worked within my budget and delivered beyond my expectations. He was patient as my guest list grew – even recommended that I get a bigger tent (that was still within my budget) – and I’m glad I listened! From the initial quote to creating the layout to the take down – everything went smoothly and seamlessly – something every bride hopes for.

Big Island Tents is best there is. Experts in what they do. Professional, polite and accommodating. Do yourself a favor and go with the best! Thank you Paul and Bob for creating my dream Waimea wedding.

Paul and the crew of Big Island Tents made such a huge difference for our annual "Spooktaculah" Halloween event. We contacted Paul to inquire about his services. There is no question about the quality of his services, however, the Hilo Intermediate PTSA did not know if we could afford the tent that we needed to host our event. Not only did Paul work with us with the tent, he helped us out with the dance floor as well. Everything was first class and the public, vendors and performers were comfortable and protected. Planning our wedding in two months so it could coincide with my parents' anniversary was already a task in itself. Big Island Tents allowed this task seem less daunting and come to a completion perfectly! The 30x60 clear tent, bamboo structure for the ceremony altar, tables and chairs for 100 guests, and generator relieved much of the planning burden. As the Bride, simplicity was my goal...but Big Island Tents made it look all kinds of Elegant and Classy without any surprise appearance of that so called Bridezilla monster (just don't ask my husband). The set up crew members were professional, efficient, and courteous to our needs. The family business communication and experience went above and beyond our expectations. In the end, our wedding venue looked awesome and I didn't have a single worry on the wedding day thanks to such a great investment with Big Island Tents! Big Island Tents came to our rescue when we had to cancel the initial vendor had planned to get all our tables, chairs, chaffers, linens from. We got our contract from the first vendor just days before we took of for our destination wedding... and there was a problem, the vendor wanted to drop off our order the day of the wedding and wanted us to have everything broken down and packed up for pick up by 10:30pm on the night of our reception and would charge $300 for every hour over. This was really not going to work for us, as our vision was having a relaxing reception in a private estate where our families (who were meeting for the first time) and our friends could relax, mingle and not get rushed out. This is why we were using a private venue and not a hotel. Good thing we took the time to read their very long contract. We cancelled the order as they would not change the terms.

In a last minute frenzy, I was recommended by a local friend to contact Big Island tents, so I called. Even though we had less than a week to replace our initial vendor, they were so accommodating, understanding and assured me they would be able to deliver. It was like going from a nightmare to a dream. They really care about their customers. Paul was extremely helpful, adjusting my order up to the day before they delivered. They dropped off everything we needed the day before the wedding so we had more than enough time to set up the tables and chairs and picked up around noon the day after our wedding, the delivery and pick up crews were fantastic, flexible and communicated well... it was perfect, no stress and they were very reasonably priced too, even with delivery of our Kailua-Kona location which was an hour drive from them. I wish we had known about this company from the start.

Big Island Tents smashed it out of the park! They came in and did a beautiful tent set-up! I highly recommend the clear tents to make your event stand out with class. Big Island Tents did an amazing job four our wedding. They contacted our venue ahead of time and dropped off our tent early so we could get everything set up in advance. We got married in Waimea in the middle of May so we were praying for good weather. I had ordered a tent with 2 sides and cathedral windows, the morning of the wedding it was so windy EVERYTHING kept blowing over. As the bride and the wedding coordinator, I started to panic. Paul was able to get there within an hour and add a third side to the tent for me. Talk about hero!! We also accidentally disconnected one of the plugs while decorating that morning and when we started our reception we noticed that half of our lights wasn't working. Paul was able to send his lighting guy in right away and fix the problem. I have nothing but great things to say about these guys, and if we ever were to renew our vows and have another big event... My husband and I were married in July 2015 on the Big Island and because we chose to have an outdoor wedding and would need to select a handful of rentals, Big Island Tents was recommended to us. We worked with Paul to rent their largest tent for our reception as well as lighting, a generator to power all of our power needs for the wedding and a dance floor. There is a level of professionalism while also having the cool local island attitude that is unparallel at Big Island Tents. Paul was extremely prompt and thorough in responding quickly to our inquiries whether they be via email or phone calls and he provided us with updated quotes along the way. Big Island Tents really takes the stress out of planning your event and worrying if somethingʻs going to go wrong on your wedding day! They know the island and the different sites and locations very well and are extremely knowledgable of the weather in specific areas on the island. My husband and I were on site setting up a few things on the day before our wedding and we encountered Paul and the Big Island Tents crew finishing up setting up the tent and getting the dance floor set; they were wonderful and a pleasure to work with! If you are planning a wedding on the Big Island hire Big Island Tents! You will not regret it! These guys really care about their clients and the outcome of their clientʻs events! They take great pride in their company and have a lot to be proud of!

Big Island Tents was great! Very responsive, flexible and professional from start to finish. The tent, lighting and dance floor we rented for our wedding were lovely. They even managed to set up a tent and lighting on day-of notice for our rehearsal dinner. Excellent customer service and great experience all-around!

Loved our rentals!!!

Big Island Tents helped us transform an admittedly already beautiful yard (it is Hawaii, after all!) into the PERFECT wedding venue for our mini-wedding! From the lighting, to the tables, linens and bar - everything looked beautiful and like it was meant to be there. I was especially appreciative of the lighting layout they were able to pull off, which I worked very closely with them on (I am an Interior Designer so had a really clear vision). It turned out perfectly and really pulled everything together! They were flexible with last minute additions and very respectful of our site during installation and breakdown. I will note that they don't have visuals for all of their rental items which was a bit challenging planning a destination wedding, but for the price point and service level Big Island Tents is definitely the way to go!

Recommend Big Island Tents

I recommend Big Island Tents for your big island party. We hired tables, chairs, tents, glasses, plates, flatware and more for a small wedding. Everything was delivered and picked up with no issues, allowing our event to be a success.

We didn't know a lot about organizing a wedding, and they were patient with our many questions.

Only complaint would be the high price of their lighting services, which we ended up doing ourselves.

As far as I can tell, BIT is your best bet for a one-stop-shop for almost all event needs. They provided the tables, chairs, dance floor, stage, linens, arch, generator, and, of course, tent for my wedding. I found them easy to work with and very professional. I made several changes to my order throughout the planning process and BIT kept with me every step of the way.

Not Perfect But Served Purpose

We used big island tents for our wedding at the Falls at Reeds Island. They were great to work with when picking out what I wanted.

The service itself was fine. Delivery was $300 extra and they arrived 15 min outside of their delivery window. Said they would be there from 9-10 am and showed up at 10:20 am. In addition, 2 of the farm tables were scrapped and needed some re-finishing/ looked too used. The tables and chairs served their purpose for our wedding but not 5 stars. We paid 1200 for 3 tables, 2 high boys and a bar. For the price I expected 5 stars.

Smooth and easy process with a company you can trust

Big Island Tents did such an amazing job meeting our needs and wants for a perfect wedding reception. They had everything we wanted and even created a customized CAD plan showcasing how all the tables, chairs, stage, etc would fit into the tent we ordered to maximize space and have our guests comfortable the entire day. When we needed their assistance due to high-winds they immediately came out and started securing the tent down even more to put our minds at ease that it would hold up over night. They are professional and very easy going which makes it so easy to trust that they are going to do an amazing job. I had no worry at all that everything would be perfect!

Beautiful tent. Hassle free set up and take down. Worked around our schedule and location (reception location was 1 hour away from tent shop).
