The Best Wedding Officiant Around
We actually found Betty by posting on a local Facebook community forum, we asked the community if they had any recommendations for a Spectacular Wedding Officiant for our ceremony. We were having a medium sized 130-person wedding in Sturbridge, MA (but we live in Connecticut). The vast majority of the members of the forum kept recommending the same name over and over again: Betty Allard. About 90% of the comments told us to contact Betty as she is one of the best. We emailed her and set up an appointment a few days later to visit her at her home. And she was the friendliest and most knowledgeable Wedding Officiant out there. You can immediately tell that she is a Pro. I think she told us that she has performed at about 4,000 weddings I think. And you can really tell that she knows her stuff. We booked her immediately right then and there. Price was affordable too, just a couple hundred dollars (which includes her travel time to the venue from Connecticut.) And throughout the wedding planning process, she brought questions to our attention that we wouldn't have even considered! She was definitely one of our most helpful vendors. She can accommodate any requests (not that we had any crazy requests, but it is good to know). The only request we had was to not make the ceremony too religious, because we are two people of different faiths, and we're not super religious anyways. And she didn't mention religion once during the ceremony. It was perfect! Another thing is that we hired a Violin String Quartet to play during pieces of the ceremony, and she helped coordinate with us and with them about her gently & subtly nodding to them on when to start and stop the music. She's literally done it all, so she knows her stuff. But the most amazing thing, she didn't even use a Book, or Notes, or any writing material when she performed the ceremony for us! It was incredible. Apparently, she showed us at the initial meeting, how she has everything all MEMORIZED in her head before the ceremony starts. She takes notes during the initial meeting to ask you what you like, what your preferences are, any quotes or sayings that you like, any religion, etc. And then by your wedding day, she has the entire ceremony perfected and memorized! It really brings another level and sense of simplicity and professionalism when the officiant isn't looking down in all the videos & photographs. All of our guests were telling us how good she was. If you are looking for an officiant, we highly recommend Betty. In the future, we will look to have her for vow renewals.

When you become friends with Betty, it's probably because she joined you in marriage with your best friend. In my case this marks my 14th wedding anniversary (16th together) to my wonderful wife and friend Ava! Betty Allard was an absolute joy to have as our officiant for our wedding. Before we even finalized anything, she warmly invited us into her home, where we spent a couple of hours chatting and getting to know each other. Betty’s inviting personality and great sense of humor instantly put us at ease and made the planning process feel so personal and enjoyable.
She is incredibly organized and truly values and appreciates the input of the couples she works with. Betty took the time to listen to our vision and made sure every detail of the ceremony reflected what we wanted. Her professionalism, paired with her warmth, made us feel so confident that the ceremony would be perfect—and it absolutely was.
Betty was referred to us by our photographers, Mermaid’s Reel Photography, which we knew we couldn’t go wrong with. It was clear from the start that Betty was a perfect match for us, and she did not disappoint.
One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony was Betty’s special touch of combining sands from two local beaches to represent the unity of our love and becoming one. Now, we have a beautiful keepsake to cherish for life.

Wow!! What can I say!?! Stop right here, don't go any further. Betty is the Justice of the Peace that you need to perform your soul union. Betty is just simply an amazing person. I feel as if we've been long time friends even though we just met. I have seen so many recommendations for her and I can see why. From the very first contact she was very accommodating and welcoming. Betty officiated my husband and I's elopement ceremony in October 2023. From my first conversation with Betty, I knew she was who I wanted to use on our special day. It was clear that Betty has put lot of time and effort into making a beautiful ceremony for couples. Betty was easy to get into contact with and answered all of my questions ahead of time. She made sure I knew that I needed to get my wedding license in the town I was getting married in, in CT, which is different then the requirement in MA. She also made sure the ceremony was personalized to my husband and I. She was very flexible, as we made a last minute change of location for our ceremony due to weather. On the day of she was punctual and had everything ready to go right on time for us. Betty's ceremony was above and beyond what I could have hoped for, not to mention her services are very fairly priced and affordable. I especially loved the sand ceremony she performed since we got married overlooking a beach. Betty was AMAZING!! Right from the start I knew we were in good hands! Due to some poor planning on our part, our wedding was very small as none of our friends or family could make it from out of state on short notice, but no less care was taken on Betty's part to make it feel special. She gave us an absolutely BEAUTIFUL ceremony at a local park and it is apparent how much time and care she puts into doing what she does. We especially enjoyed the unity sand ceremony which we will cherish forever as a lovely reminder of our special day. Special Day Made Perfect
On behalf of my husband Royce and I, Thank you Betty! She was absolutely AMAZING from first contact to the day of our ceremony. She was very helpful in guiding us through the process of what we needed to do before arriving in CT to apply for our marriage license as well as once we arrive. From the date we booked her she made sure to follow up with us several times just to check in with us. What we enjoyed the most was that prior to our ceremony she took the time to meet with both of us to get to know us a little better and discuss arrangements of the ceremony. During the ceremony she did nothing less than perform exceptionally and even added in her own ritual which I found very sweet. In addition to this because we were both pre occupied; her husband was nice enough to take pictures for us. We invited them to stay for the reception and it was the least we could do for them making our day so memorable. But what I will always remember most was that somewhere along the process the ritual she performs in which we both pour two different color sands into a bottle layer by layer and then seal it, to represent 2 vessels becoming 1; there was a charm around the neck of the bottle that some how fell off. She was kind enough to take the time and mail us a new charm. Considering how busy she is, it meant ALOT! I initially left a review as my husband and I were married back in November but for some reason it didn't post. Regardless if you're considering Betty, I can promise you won't regret it she is the best of the best and knows her stuff!

Betty is a fantastic officiant who is extremely efficient and well-organized, and remembers the little details despite all of the weddings she officiates! My husband and I had a meeting with her four months before the wedding to go over every detail of the ceremony, get to know each other a bit -- and that was the point the wedding truly felt real to us. Betty was always available for last minute questions and thoughts, and had amazing insights from having worked with all of our vendors extensively in the past to having guidance into the process for timing with regard to our marriage license and name change. Betty is truly someone special! She really takes the time to get to know you and your S/O very well. She makes sure to go through all the details of your vows. She recommended doing a sand Ceremony with us and the children. It was like she knew all four of our kids before she actually met them. She picked out their sand colors and it was all their favorite colors. It blended so well with ours and comes in a pretty bottle. I'm so glad we ended up doing that because now we have that as a memory for all of us to share. One special moment i will never forget was during the middle of the ceremony when i was all nervous, the sun made an appearance on our cloudy day and she told me to take a look. It was so beautiful!

Simply the best!
Betty surpassed all of our expectations in our elopement ceremony. I felt an immediate connection with her when I first spoke with her weeks before. Her words and vows felt so personal for us. The sand ceremony is beautiful, and we loved that the sands came from the local CT beaches. Betty's husband, Paul, took numerous candid photos in the background. Many thanks to Betty for making our special day unforgettable!

Bettie is amazing. She has the vision to help you with your journey but seamlessly integrates your special day's dreams with what she knows will work. Being your Justice of the Peace is not a job for her, even though this is what she does full time. Betty was our hero!
My fiancé and I decided six weeks before Christmas to get married on Christmas Eve because all our adult children would be home! Betty didn’t blink and eye - she made our dream happen. Betty is professional, warm and feels immediately like a member of the family! Her service was thoughtful and personal. I couldn’t imagine getting married without her officiating (although hopefully I won’t be getting married again!). Absolutely adore this woman! ❤️

What can we say?! Betty is the absolute best! She treated us with so much kindness and truly loves getting to know you & your significant other so that she can make your ceremony absolutely perfect! From day one of contacting Betty, she has been incredibly genuine, responsive, kind hearted, and friendly. Before our wedding day, Betty welcomed my family and I into her home to go over our wedding ceremony and get to know one another. Betty is very professional and well spoken. Since then, my family and I have become even closer with her and her husband. Both Betty and her husband are absolutely amazing! My dream day!
My husband and I decided to get married on a whim..Betty was the first justice of the peace I called and it was meant to be! From the moment I got on the phone with her we knew she was the one, she was so kind thoughtful and so excited that I knew I had to be her! Betty gave my husband and I a beautiful personal and memorable ceremony that came from her heart. We loved every second of it. You can really tell how much Betty loves her job, she wrote the beautiful vows we exchanged and she even has a wonderful sand pouring ceremony to represent you & your SO becoming one. I've heard how fast weddings can be from Justices of the Peace but not with Betty; she took the time to get to know me and my husband and really made us feel special. My husband and I would recommend her a thousand times over if you want to have a special personalized and beautiful ceremony she's the one!! Perfect Wedding Ceremony
We chose Betty Allard as our officient for our wedding after asking our wedding venue their preference for vendors. She was number one on their list. Right away, Betty was so friendly and kind. We met with Betty to go over everything and she made sure our ceremony was personalized just for us. We really loved the sand ceremony and she provided all the supplies for it. Betty was professional and so sweet. She really made our ceremony special and spoke well. I had asked her to give our marriage certificate to the town hall right after the ceremony and she happily did. I highly recommend Betty as your officient for your wedding ceremony!

What I loved about Betty was her energy. She was kind, informative and very helpful. Since this was my 2nd marriage and money was tight, she and her husband made it very special for us. I especially loved the sand ceremony part..that alone put an extra touch to it. Even under these Covid times & having to wear masks and abide by the rules of Foxwoods, it all went well. Attention brides: absolutely incredible justice of the peace
I was referred Betty Allard by my original venue, when the pandemic hit I had to call Betty multiple times changing times and figuring out a new location. Betty stuck by our side, my wedding was canceled and changed three times and Betty made it work, she said we we’ll figure this out I will work with you and help you pick another and location, she helped me brain storm on alternative locations and what would work best for me and my husband. The ceremony was so personal and she included an Irish blessing and whatever we wanted to include without even questioning our style. My wedding day was in the pouring rain and Betty made the day more beautiful with the kind words and just personal detail for our ceremony on our special day.

Amazing officiant
Betty officiated our wedding ceremony. With everything happening with covid we were forced to change our plans numerous times. Betty was beyond kind to change our date and hold new dates. She kept us well informed and made sure we had everything we needed for our big day. Our big day came and we had an outside ceremony. Betty officiated our ceremony in the pouring rain and didn’t skip a beat! She was professional and spoke beautifully with no microphone in the pouring rain and wind as if it was a beautiful day. Betty is a true professional! Starting with her standards of meeting every couple in person before the ceremony to being prepared and early. She was a highlight of our ceremony. She has many different options to make sure your ceremony can be beyond the normal experience. Paul her husband is amazing as well. Betty married us in September 2019. The sand ceremony was beautiful and a great keepsake for us. ,

Simply The Best!
My husband and I had to take time out to write this review. Thanks to Betty and her husband Mr Allard, we had the wedding of our dreams! Her ceremony was beautifully presented with meaningful words that captured everything we stand for and believe in. She brought tears to our eyes throughout the entire ceremony. Betty came prepared with a beautiful table and supplies all set up for the sand ceremony. Mr Allard had soft beautiful music playing in the background that added great ambiance to our small outdoor venue. My husband and I are having two weddings and we have decided to use Betty for both! Please do not hesitate to hire Betty as you will not regret it!

5🌟 All the way ! Our ceremony was awesome. When we first went to meet up with Betty, we knew she would be perfect for us. Charming is the best way to describe her. It was so nice to be able to read the ceremony & all the little extras that she has for you to add or omit. Making it just right for me and my, then Fiancé !
If you do chose Betty I can promise you that you will be making your day an amazingly special one.. the guests loved her as well. I do also think that a special thank you should go out to her husband. He helped the children and I walk, took photos and made us feel so comfortable.
Overall we had a beautiful loving ceremony that we can cherish forever.

Such a pleasure to meet and wonderful personality!
Betty was absolutely wonderful from the time we met until our wedding day. Betty had us stop by her home first to meet her and we probably spent about 3 hours just chatting and getting to know one another. We opted to do a sand ceremony during our wedding ceremony to include our daughters which was very special to us, plus we got a neat bottle to keep with local sand that we will all be able to look at and remember our special day. Betty arrived early on our wedding day and I received nothing but compliments. After our ceremony, I heard so many accolades from our guests as to how great Betty was during our vow exchange and also how they can just tell that she loves being a JP. Thank you so much for making our day that much more special!!

I found Betty while searching online for a justice of the peace. What drew me to Betty was her solid 5 start reviews. Other couples had written amazing reviews about her so I decided to call. The reviews were so accurate! Betty was very easy to talk to, professional, funny, and very caring. I could tell right away she loves what she does and really cares about the bride and groom. My fiancé and I decided to elope for financial reasons and I asked Betty if she would meet us at the court house for a small ceremony. Betty immediately reccomened that we come to her house instead as the the court house was very informal and unromantic. I really appreciated Betty taking the time to explain this to me to because I was unaware just how informal the court house really was. I knew immediately I wanted to hire her after that because she could of took our money and did it in the court house, but she didn’t she put me and my fiancé first and offered us her beautiful home as an alternative. The ceremony was intimate and the vows were very powerful and romantic bringing both my fiancé and I to tears. My fiancé and I really loved the sand ceremony and the beautiful keep sake that we made together from two different kinds of sand. Betty and her husband are charming, professional, caring, and all around wonderful people. I highly recommend her services she puts the couple first always. I loved my wedding day and I will never forget the kindness that Betty offered me and my now husband. Thank you Betty!

Most amazing day of my life!
I was married at Bettys home on December 13, 2018 and it was truely the best day of my life. I was extremely nervous but from the moment I stepped foot into her home I instantly felt at ease and relaxed. Betty and her husband went out of their way to make my special day amazing! The details were very well thought out resulting in a fantastic evening! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a justice of the peace.

I’m really not sure what to say except that BETTY ALLARD IS AMAZING!!!!! My husband and I were blessed to have Betty as our Justice of the Peace at our wedding on 9.29.18. What a lovely, kind and exuberant woman! After meeting, emailing and speaking directly to Betty, I was hooked! She is attentive, generous, and just a kind soul. Betty was fantastic to work with and made the ceremony one less thing to worry about. We only met with her once months before the wedding for a few hours, but that was seriously all you need. Your ceremony is in good hands with Betty!

We got married on Aug 18, 2018. Im so happy Betty was apart of that day. From the first initial phone call to the end of the ceremony...and after, she was more than I could have wanted. She was very professional and very accommodating to whatever our needs were. She has an awesome personality and when she she did the ceremony, it wasnt generic, it was like it really came from her heart. By the time it was over, she was more than just our JP, she had become our friend, it was like Id known her forever. I highly reccommend Betty to anyone looking for that special JP.

Betty was absolutely spectacular in every department. Now, mind you, we needed a JP on short notice (less than five weeks). She was super friendly from the very beginning, and provided us with all of the in-person meetings (she welcomed us into her home :) ) phone calls, and emails that we needed. She has a set ceremony that she gives, but it is completely customizable according to your religious or secular needs. She was at the ceremony early despite her busy schedule, and delivered the memorized ceremony flawlessly. She even calmly rescued us during a "where are the rings" episode just as the ceremony kicked off. Betty is absolutely everything we wanted and needed from a JP, and we are forever grateful. I am so so grateful that we got Betty as our JP. My wife and I (so gay friendly yo!) had the opportunity to meet her prior to our day and it was a perfect fit! My wife has some social anxiety, but Betty made her feel comfortable and welcoming and I’ve never seen her talk that much with someone she just met! We eloped, just the two of us, so Betty was there even when our parents weren’t allowed. It’s a big deal, I think, just because of that and we don’t regret having her in the slightest. She came highly recommended by the place we tied the knot, and it became very apparent why! She’s meticulous, personable, and strives to make her clients comfortable and happy. Even though it was just the two of us, she still made it feel like such a huge day for us. If we ever renew our vows, we’ll absolutely be reaching out for her services again. And if any of our friends decide to tie the knot in the Connecticut area, she will hands down be the only person we tell them to go to! 10/10 would recommend.

I am not from Connecticut and, therefore, I was not very familiar with New London County, CT. I began searching for a Justice of the Peace on my IPhone and I came across Betty’s name and read a little about her. We discussed what the role was of a JP, areas where the service could be performed, etc. Betty was extremely prompt with returning phone calls and the cost of services rendered was very reasonable. Of course, on our wedding day, 12/10/16, I was very nervous. We were married at Ocean Beach Park and Betty had everything set up beautifully. Without being noticed, Betty guided us through the ceremony with her voice loud and clear and a beautiful smile on her face. The fee for services rendered was quite fair and I would highly recommend Betty to any couple needing a Justice of the Peace to marry them or renew their vows, etc. It’s funny because the first time I spoke with Betty over the phone, we just “clicked” and I just knew she was the JP for our wedding. After our wedding, we had a little “get-together” at our apartment and we invited Betty and her husband to come over also. They came over and everybody mingled and we had a wonderful time. Betty and her husband are wonderful people, a joy to work with and very reasonably priced. Betty and I had talked numerous times prior to the wedding because I was very nervous and was not sure how it was al going to work, especially at the beach, etc. I must say that Betty returned every phone call, explained everything to me even more than once but never became aggravated and she always knew the right words to say so I would relax.....basically that she was going to lead us through everything and not to worry. When we are ready to renew our vows, we will definitely call upon Betty. It’s funny because Betty married us in December, 2016, we have been Facebook friends since then and I also consider Betty a “friend” of mine also. She’s just a genuinely nice, sweet and honest person.

Choosing Betty Allard as our wedding officiant was one of the best decisions we ever made as a couple! We were married shortly after same sex marriage became legal in Connecticut As Pennsylvania residents who knew only that we wanted to get married in Mystic, CT, fate brought us to Betty. She helped us find a venue and plan our ceremony (her husband even served as our unofficial photographer!) and guided us through the marriage process in CT. And, her ceremony was so amazing. She treated us with dignity and respect and many of our guests said it was one of the most beautiful wedding ceremonies (gay or straight) that they had ever attended! Her officiating was so personal and intuitive. It was almost as if we had been friends with her for a long time. I cannot recommend Betty highly enough!

We were planning a wedding at Foxwood but we live in New Hampshire and were unfamiliar with the area and the requirements of the tribe, Betty made it so easy and everything went very smoothly. Her suggestion for location in the building was perfect. We loved the sand in the bottle idea. Couldn't have picked a better officiant to work with.

My husband and I used Betty as our JOP for our wedding on June 10, 2017 and were extremely happy with how she performed our ceremony! My mom still rants and raves about what an amazing job Betty did! I knew from the moment I spoke with Betty on the phone that she was the right person to marry us. When we first met with her, she showed a genuine interest in my husband and I and treated us as more than just another client – she even provided us with recommendations of restaurants for our rehearsal dinner, since we were not from the area where we were getting married! Also, we chose to do the sand ceremony and we would recommend it to anyone looking to do something a little different. We highly recommend Betty for JOP – we loved working with her!!

Betty was amazing to work with! I've had the pleasure of seeing her not only for my ceremony but for a friends years ago. She was so great then, I kept her business card in my wallet all this time not knowing if I'd ever use it. Well my time came and I was very happy to hear she was still officiating. Betty has a significant amount of experience as a JP and it showed on our special day. Betty is a down to earth individual with a good sense of humor, putting everyone involved in the ceremony process at ease. I got married on 09/16/17, in Woodstock, CT., and she officiated the ceremony for me. It was not the easiest wedding to plan for because I am currently living in Las Vegas. But, I wanted to get married back home in New England. After researching all the different JPs that were available in the area, I settled on Betty. I loved that she wrote her own vows, that her ceremony wasn't some 5-minute "quickie", and I especially loved she did something very unique with her sand ceremony. Because Betty likes to add a personal touch to each and every ceremony she performs, she wanted to meet with me and my future wife. With me being in Vegas, meeting was not going to be easy, but we planned a quick meeting the Friday before my ceremony. She invited us to her home where she got to know us on a deeper level. I really appreciated her warmth and hospitality, and she really took the time to get to know us and to give us an idea of what her ceremony entailed. The sand she uses in her sand ceremony is from 2 different beaches here in New England, and it was definitely a unique keepsake. Her husband also helped with some of the photography from the ceremony, and by the end they almost felt more like family, than like a Officiant for hire. From the get-go, she was very warm, personable, and not to mention AFFORDABLE.. She really did help us have the perfect wedding. I would highly recommend Betty for your wedding day!

Our small, intimate ceremony (12 people) was all that we hoped it would be. Without a doubt, we chose the right person to be part of our day!
