Wonderful to work with!

Fantastic Calligraphy and Service

We were referred to Barbara and Belles Lettres by a friend who had worked with her and had a fantastic experience. Hers was no anomaly - Barbara is incredibly organized, extremely efficient, and of course, her work is really beautiful. We used Barbara for both invitation calligraphy and day-of elements and all of the work was great. She has a very clear system for clients to provide the underlying information which was easy to work with and ensures there were no mistakes.

Many thanks to Barbara - we truly appreciate her amazing efforts on our behalf! Highly recommend!

Beautiful Custom Work

Working with Barbara was great. I was a little overwhelmed by invitation shops, but mostly knew what I wanted: classic but personalized.

I first asked about envelope addressing, but wound up having her create a custom suite for me including a logo that we used in many other ways that made the whole event seem pulled together.

Barbara helped me through so much more of the process than she needed to, guiding me towards the wonderful Bernardsville Print Center for the actual printing of her custom design.

She was quick and thorough with all communication, and was able to adeptly and swiftly handle last minute additions and changes as I changed my mind a few times. She helped when I didn't know what words to use to describe what it was that I wanted.

By the end of the process the invitation went from something that was on the back burner, to one of my favorite elements. I loved hearing feedback from guests that it was, without hyperbole, the nicest invitation they had ever seen, and set the stage for how the rest of the wedding would be.

I can't say enough good things about working with Belles Lettres. We went with Barbara's mixed lettering look, and the invitations turned out looking absolutely beautiful. Barbara is also very transparent, easygoing, and helpful. She carefully spelled out all of her services and what the costs would be, and offered suggestions and samples to guide us to the right style. I highly recommend!

I'm not one to write reviews, but felt like this was an exception. I had Barbara do the addresses on my wedding invitations, and they blew me away. She did gold script on our black envelopes and when I received them in the mail I was so impressed. They took the quality and customization of our wedding invitations to the next level. Working with Barbara was a breeze. Wedding planning is difficult and I wasn't the best at emailing promptly, but Barbara was always on top of it. We had issues getting our envelopes in time, so we were worried everything would be sent out extremely late. Barbara was a champ and turned around our beautiful addressed envelopes in record time. I initially thought the price was a bit high (I had also never hired a calligrapher), but after seeing the quality and ease of working with her it was worth every penny. I would highly recommend choosing her for your next calligraphy needs. She will not disappoint! (I blurred out part of the address and names in my photo for privacy reasons, but you can still clearly see how lovely Barbara's work is)

Barbara is the ultimate combination of talent, professionalism, dedication, and care. She worked with us on a very short time line, and spent the bulk of her Thanksgiving holiday weekend making certain that she was creating a unique and beautiful wedding invitation suite that was entirely in line with our vision. She even gave herself a crash course in the Hebrew alphabet in order to accommodate one of our requests. And although Barbara turned things around at lightening speed every step along the way, she never rushed us, always making certain that we were one hundred per cent happy with everything down to the smallest detail. We truly could not have been happier with our experience from start to finish. Barbara is a gem!

Barbara is such a wonderful artist and a lovely woman to work with. I was so fortunate to be introduced to her through other vendors I used for my wedding day! I went to Barbara for calligraphy for our place cards, specialty drink signs, and custom signs to go on our place card table. We spoke on the phone first about my concept for the place card table and she referred me to a great resource called WaxSeals.com to go along with her cards and it totally completed the look! I would hire her again for every special event.

I was on the fence about having my invites hand addressed by a professional, I wasn't sure it would be worth the cost. Using Barbara might be the best decision I made during wedding planning- she is AMAZING!!! 100% worth the cost- I actually think for what she does, she is very reasonably priced. It saved me time, which is priceless. Her work is incredible and above that she is patient and professional (as I changed my mind a few times and had some address changes). She has several styles to choose from and also guided me on which would work best with my invite. I could not recommend her more!! An invitation is the first impression your guest has of your event, it sets the tone- it's so important!! Hire her- she's fabulous!

Barbara came highly recommend by our florist, A Touch of Elegance, and she certainly did not disappoint. She was amazing to work with; eliminating stress by answering any questions we had promptly and offering great advice. All of our guests loved our mirror seating chart with the beautiful calligraphy and adorable personal touches. We cannot thank you enough Barbara!!!

Barbara was outstanding! She was so helpful and accommodating with lettering request and ideas. She made the entire process so seamless, each time I would drop off items to be lettered they would be completed within just a few days! Everything was beautiful – she addressed my invite envelopes, place cards, table numbers and even signs for our wedding. I loved her writing so much that it was tough to part with the envelopes! Barbara was even helpful when some of the paper I provided was too thin to write on – she ended up ordering the perfect paper I had in mind. She was quick to respond to email and accommodating with last minute changes. We had many compliments from guests – most ended up saving their name cards they were so beautiful! I highly recommended Barbara. – you won’t be disappointed!

Barbara was, in a word, amazing! She responded almost immediately to my initial inquiry and suggested a call to talk through my questions and figure out what calligraphy style best suited me. She even had suggestions about vintage postage vendors. Once I got my invitation list together for her, she turned things around in the blink of an eye. I honestly cried up when I unpacked my addressed invitations...they were are gorgeous! I can't stop looking at them...alas they do have to be mailed. I can't recommend Barbara enough!

I loved everything about Belles Lettres calligraphy! As the mother of the groom I asked Barbara to not only address the rehearsal dinner invites but personalize oodles of specialty items for the party. Her work made this kick-off party special and set the tone for a super fun wedding weekend. Her calligraphy is exceptional, her attention to detail extraordinary, her communication and turn around time extremely prompt, her prices are very fair and she was a joy to work with in every way. I wish that I could give her 10 stars in every category! Barbara certainly deserves It. I highly recommend Belles Lettres.

Professional, prompt, and immensely creative, Barbara did a fantastic job not only designing our wedding menus and escort cards, but also helping us brainstorm elegant ways of incorporating those elements into our wedding theme. She is super easy to reach by email, and her turn around is quick. We loved working with her, and everyone loved the final product. My best friend’s mom is pushing him to hire a calligrapher for his upcoming wedding, after seeing Barbara’s outstanding work. Her designs even blew away our event planner who told us that we had the most beautiful stationary and calligraphy of any wedding she had done. We cannot recommend Barbara and Belles Lettres Calligraphy highly enough!

Barbara of Belles Lettres Calligraphy is a dream to work with. I worked with Barbara to design a chalkboard seating chart for my wedding, and I could not be happier with the end result! Not only is her work so incredibly beautiful, but she's a true professional: highly responsive (both by phone and email); polite; and easy to work with. I was an indecisive bride, and she gave me multiple design options. Above all, she accommodated my busy schedule the week of my wedding, for easy pick-up and drop-off of the seating chart. I definitely recommend, and I'll be using Belles Lettres Calligraphy again for future projects!

I wanted a mirrored program board for our wedding. We had originally purchased one on Etsy and two weeks before our wedding the vendor fell through. Belles Lettres Calligraphy was recommended by a friend who works at a wedding magazine and Barbara was a life saver. She made us the most perfect, beautiful board. She was so easy to deal with, responsive, worked so quickly to get us what we wanted in such a short time frame. She sent sketches of the fonts until the spacing and alignment were exactly what we envisioned. We keep saying we need to find another calligraphy project to use Barbara for! Belles Lettres addressed our outer and inner envelopes for our invitations and wedding day signage. Barbara was extremely prompt and thorough in all our communications. It was wonderful to work with a local professional that was never too busy to meet or arrange a time to speak (even though she was quite busy!). Her work is elegant and absolutely gorgeous. She is a true artist! When we received our initial batch of envelopes and noticed an error, she responded instantly and was able to meet me the next day with the corrections. We are definitely planning on calling on her again for future calligraphy!

If you want creativity, flexibility, and quick turn around, Belles Lettres is the place for you. My teenage daughter already had Sweet 16 invitations in hand, but no envelopes. I cannot say enough about Barbara's professionalism and quality of work. Her services are truly second to none. I contacted Barbara about six months before my wedding to better understand her services and pricing. Given her superior quality, I was pleasantly surprised by her fair and competitive pricing. Invitations leave an important impression with your wedding guests, and we were keen to assemble an elegant and memorable wedding suite. Barbara helped us do just that! She prepared both our envelope calligraphy and wax seal. I was overwhelmed by the amount of phone calls and emails I received praising the beauty of our invitations. In fact, there are friends who have still not opened their envelope in fear of compromising the seal.

Kind, professional, responsive, flexible, knowledgeable--just a few words I would use to describe Barbara. Thank you for everything! Truly a delightful experience.

Barbara is AMAZING! She responded to emails immediately and the quality of her work is exceptional.
Barbara completed our order in two days (when I thought it would take her 2 weeks!). I honestly do not know how she did such an amazing job so fast. I would recommend Barbara without hesitations. Barbara did the calligraphy for my envelopes. She was able to squeeze our large order in a tight time frame and was gracious beginning to end ! She was very cautious to ask questions when unsure, and was super accommodating when I had to add additional names more than once ! Her penmanship is beautiful and Ive received so many compliments about her striking white writing on our dark green envelopes. Her delivery was speedy and organized. We could not have asked for more beautiful work, or an easier process !! We HIGHLY recommend her !!

I discovered Barbara on a wedding planners website and was obsessed ever since. She is a pleasure to deal with and happy to answer any questions. Barbara offers a variety of exceptional calligraphy styles and will always, always meet your deadline!

Barbara did the envelopes and place cards for my daughters wedding. They are just Amazing! Arrived beautifully wrapped and we couldn’t be happier. She also designed a super cute heart shaped gift tag for her bridal shower favors! I am so glad I found Barbara – her gorgeous artwork defiantly added something special to my daughter's wedding.

I would absolutely recommend Barbara!! We plan on using her for day of wedding details!

Barbara has been wonderful to work with. I decided very last minute that I wanted to have our wedding invitation envelopes calligraphed and am so glad I did. They were beautiful. The pricing was reasonable in comparison to what you'll find in the NYC area, and best of all Barbara made it easy during a time when I already had enough on my plate. She responds to emails immediately and was able to calligraphy all our invitations the same day she received them! Amazing! I will definitely be going back to her for our day-of wedding calliigraphy needs. Very glad I found her!

Oh my gosh, Barbara was an absolute dream to work with! I heard of her work through word of mouth from another bride who had a great experience with her and I'm SO glad I reached out to her! Not only does she respond to emails promptly, she is extremely nice and flexible in working with what you need. On top of all of it, she has SUCH a quick turnaround and had my envelopes back to me within a few days...and her work is incredible, I couldn't stop staring at my envelopes all night long:)

I wil definitely be reaching out to work with her again come time for placecards etc. and take advantage of her other services. In a world of wedding planning where not all vendors are easy to work with, Barbara EASES your anxiety, rather than adding to it.

We used Barbara for our wedding envelopes and place cards and they turned out beautiful! We used vintage stamps and Ecru envelopes, with Barbara's calligraphy for a vintage look and all our friends raved about them! They came out perfect, could not have been happier! We are even framing one of the envelopes with our wedding invite for a keepsake :) Also, the responsiveness is so fast (both by email and ship dates) which is so great for an impatient New Yorker, like myself! Barbara created amazing Christmas cards for us this year. She helped with design and layout. But, most important was the calligraphy addresses on the envelopes - absolutely amazing work!

Working with Barbara for our wedding has been a great pleasure. She makes everything easy and stress free. Not to mention that she is always full of great ideas! We have asked her to do our save the dates, invitations, escort cards table names and menus. At the last minute we also asked her to complete wax seals on all our invitations and she really came through for us. Not only did she contact the seal manufacturer, but she was able to get it all complete and back to us within a week!

I highly recommend Belles Lettres to anyone who wants to add that special touch to their wedding or occasion. Barbara is always professional and easy to communicate with. Since we have started working with her I think we have emailed her at least 3-4 dozen times.

I cannot wait for our next big event so we can have Belles Lettres do our invitations!

Barbara was wonderful to work with from the first email to the final product! She was extremely responsive and very flexible. Our invitations came in almost two weeks late and Barbara was still able to have them done for our ideal mailing date. Barbara W of Belles Lettres Calligraphy in two words: Creative, Flawless, Thoughtful, & Professional!! OK, 4 words… Impossible to squeeze Barbara, her wonderful talents, and excellent services into just 2 words.

As the mother of the bride, who knew the daunting task of addressing all those wedding invitations, reply cards, & place cards correctly and legibly could be such a breeze…. easy, interesting, and fun! Well, it wouldn’t have been for our daughter’s wedding if we hadn’t had the great fortune and pleasure to work with Barbara. Clever, creative, interested, low key, prompt, observant, organized, responsive, no errors (not 1!) and just plain easy (and a pleasure) to do business… All important qualities in planning any event and absolutely critical when organizing a wedding, our only daughters. Not quite sure how she makes knocking out all those stunningly beautifully addressed invites seem so easy and gets it done so promptly.

Barbara was interested enough to ask about the bride & groom and what they (and we) wanted to say with the calligraphy. She listened, looked at a sample invite, and pleasantly agreed to provide examples of exactly what we requested (same font & ink color as the words on a very fun whimsical invitation). She just as pleasantly suggested we could add an element of creative fun in the style of writing and offered to provide examples. She was right. We took one look at her clever and beautiful suggestions and never looked back at our original request!

Everything (beautifully addressed invitations, stuffed envelopes, place cards, etc) was delivered on time and error free. The place cards (small wooden “blackboard” plant labels on sticks) could and may have been a pain. Barbara got them turned around (quantity of about 110 in a shockingly quick timeframe. She even wrote a selected quote/verse for flower seed packet favors as a gift to the bride and groom. Very thoughtful and sweet of her.

Everyone, the bride, groom, us (brides parental units), and guests noticed and appreciated the beautiful yet readable calligraphy… A wonderful detail which helped make the wedding that much more special and memorable for all! Can’t tell you how comforting it was to work with such a pro. Thanks Barbara, you did a fantastic job and made the planning and hosting of a wonderful wedding soo much easier!!

The price was more than reasonable to do the calligraphy on my custom-made placecards. Her calligraphy was absolutely beautiful and she had the foresight to hold onto a few extra cards for me in the event I had last minute changes (which, of coruse, I did). I would definitely recommend Belles Lettres to anyone.

Barbara is the ultimate professional and her work is gorgeous. Barbara was willing to customize parts of her existing calligraphy fonts to match the font on my invitation, and turned the invitations around in under one week. I had last minute changes and requests, and Barbara handled all of them promptly and happily. I thought working with Barbara Witosky was wonderful. I was a little concerned as I live in NYC and she was in NJ and I had no time to be venturing out for a calligrapher. We communicated solely on email and I sent her my things via USPS and she sent them back the same.

They arrived when she said they would and were AMAZING. Wil use her again because it was great!

Belles Lettres did a great job! The invitations were beautiful and I would use them again in a heartbeat! The pricing for the invitations was different than the original pricing I was given and it fairly standard to others out there but keep in mind for all calligraphers that you will need to be as accurate as possible before you start because if your addresses are wrong or your envelopes are off, you will be paying more for the corrections!
