Literally everything you want in a DJ/Emcee

The short version is: hire Becks Entertainment. At least talk to him, and then you'll see why. Jerry didn't just listen to me, he *heard* me, and took time to understand us and our guests. On top of that, he is patient and kind and mellow, so working with him was soothing during the chaos of my diy backyard wedding planning. And because he's been a DJ/emcee for decades, Jerry flexed his song choices based on the vibe of the crowd, and he needed zero hand holding to do so (unlike other DJs I've seen). Keep reading for the longer version.

Jerry made the entire process SOOO easy, from start to finish. He responded quickly to my initial inquiry and was transparent on pricing and contract terms. After signing the contract, I he gave me access to an online platform that enabled me choose: 1) songs that must be played, 2) songs I'd like played if possible, and 3) songs to not play. Jerry called to check in with me a week before my wedding to confirm his dress code and, more importantly, to talk through my song choices so he could make sure he was fully supporting my vision - like, he pre-listened to my important songs ("Finally" by CeCe Peniston was our grand entrance song), and he modified them to have the right part of the song start at just the right time! On our wedding day, I was already wrapped up in getting ready, and Jerry set up with minimal assistance from my husband and family. The whole event ran absolutely perfectly even though I wasn't able to speak more than 2 words to him the entire time! He emceed each moment at the right time, played all the rights songs, and vibed with my guests to make it an unforgettable day. My only complaint is that I didn't get to tip him more before he left!

If I plan another event, I'm definitely calling Jerry.

Incredible

He was absolutely amazing and totally in tune with the vibe of the wedding event. Not only did he ask a bunch of questions, but he was also super dedicated to making sure the music and the whole flow of the wedding went according to plan. Plus, he's just a really cool and down-to-earth DJ with loads of talent. I would totally recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ.

The Best Wedding DJ in SD!

Omg I can't say enough about Jerry and his DJ skills!! I hired him for my wedding on 11/11/22 at the Bali Hai and from the time I hired him he was very professional and made sure to discuss my vision of the music for my wedding from the first conversation. I remember I told him my dad loved the BeeGees (my dad passed away 15 years ago) and Jerry played a BeeGees song after our first dance it really meant a lot to me. Plus he seriously read my crowd at the wedding by playing the perfect songs and even came out to the dance floor to show us a dance . So many times I would be talking to different guests and family members and would hear a special song play and I wanted to yell out to Jerry "Omg I love this song!! " lol but didn't want to be rude to my guest haha ... Jerry was also interactive with the crowd and had us play a game to win the flower centerpieces - everyone was laughing and having a great time! So many people came up to me after the wedding telling me how nice my dj was and how he played such great music!! I'm sooo thankful for him and can't recommend him enough! Plus Jerry played all the main songs perfectly at the right timing! - the garder song, bouquet toss , introduction song , cake cutting song and walk down isle song. Plus he even played the country song I wanted as my last song of the night I am just over the moon at how everything turned out that day and how smoothly everything went and a lot of it was because of Jerry. He gave me good suggestions prior to my wedding which I loved I seriously could go on and on. I'll forever be thankful to you Jerry for making my day so magical

You won’t regret hiring Jerry!!

Jerry made our wedding. He was beyond accommodating and walked us through everything! We planned our wedding in 3 weeks with no planner or coordinator. He helped direct us through all the ins and outs. Jerry has an amazing personality and everyone raved about how great of a DJ he is. Also, I found it very helpful that he has a portal that his clients can log into to select songs or select songs that are an absolute no-go. I would definitely recommend hiring Jerry!!

Becks Entertainment is the Best!!!

Beck was recommended by my sister in law since he helped with her wedding! We are glad we were able to have Beck be apart of our special day. He is fun , funny, attentive and professional. He went above and beyond for our day especially for last minute changes. I would recommend him to anyone to make your special day perfect. Thank you Beck for everything, you're Awesome!

The perfect soundtrack to an amazing night

There are amateurs and there are pros and Jerry is an absolute pro. My wife and I came to love each other over music and it was very important to us to pick a DJ who could really read a room. Jerry checked every box; low maintenance, kind and friendly, and great taste in music. We gave him a few playlists with some music we listen to and asked him to use it as a guide for the type of vibe we were going for and he absolutely hit it out of the park. When you hire Jerry you’re getting the reassurance that you have one less thing to worry about on your big day. We won’t ever hire another DJ.

Hire this man!

We saw him deejaying at a bridal event and knew immediately we wanted him for our wedding. Hire him. Just do it. Jerry was great! Everything was smooth and he played our favorite jams. He has years of experience and has his craft down pretty solid. You will not be disappointed. When we had to postpone due to the pandemic, he worked with us for our new wedding date without any drama. Thanks again, Jerry, for everything!

Incredible dj (highly recommended)

My wife and I were tremendously satisfied with our experience with Jerry and Beck's Entertainment as the DJ for our wedding and reception. We laid out or vision for what we were expecting and he executed it to perfection. His professionalism and passion were definitely on display, and the crowd soaked it up the whole day (and night)! Wedding- DJ

Jerry was absolutley fantastic! We were reffered to Jerry by our neighbor. We couldn't of asked for a better DJ. He was fast with responding to emails, texts and calls. We had changed a few things very last minute and he was very respectful with taking the changes! We are so lucky we had such a wonderful DJ. He gave us song reccomendations, and genres. I had struggled with finding the right music but after speaking to Jerry he helped me so much. The songs during our ceremony were absolutely wonderful. We had many compliments and are so greatful we used Becks Entertainment for our wedding! A special thank you- to Becks Entertainment!

Nailed It!

I just recently had the pleasure of having Jerry DJ my wedding. Initially I was nervous as he had the daunting task of MC/DJing a super multicultural wedding. I am Persian and my husband to be is Russian. We not only wanted Persian and Russian music but also Hebrew, Spanish, Turkish, Pop and R&B. He was so pleasant to work with, literally would get back to me within the hour if I ever reached out to him, was open to all of my ideas and did an amazing job at our wedding. He DJ'ed the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and really nailed it. He felt what the crowd was feeling and played the music to reflect it. We really wanted our wedding to be high energy and fun and Jerry brought it all. I highly recommend him as a super professional, highly versatile DJ.

What a great DJ!

My husband and I had a fun wedding at the San Diego County Fair, and Jerry was our DJ! The day we met him he was upbeat, friendly, and his main goal was to make us happy with the music & DJ services. He was very open to our song choices, and followed up prior to our big day to make sure everything was good. He also has a great online catalog of his music - which made it super easy to find the songs we were looking for, preview them to make sure it was the version we liked, and to see what was possible! He has it set up so you can add "must plays," "like," and "don't play," which was very organized and as a bride I loved how easy it was and how much it took off my plate! Thank you, Jerry! You are awesome!

Couldn't stop dancing

If you are looking for a DJ that listens to what you want, takes the time to explain his process and reads your group during the event to keep the dancing going, you have found your guy! My husband and I had such a wonderful experience going through the planning process with Jerry from start to finish. We had so many guests tell us out wedding was one of the most fun weddings they have been to in a long time and that is in no small part due to Jerry’s amazing abilities! We would 100% go back and hire Jerry again so give him a call, talk to him, you absolutely will not regret it.

Jerry Beck made our wedding reception a blast! On our wedding day, I was extremely worried our guests wouldn’t be on the dance floor. I searched around for the best DJ’s to make sure our reception was a great time, and we found it with Jerry. He knows how to get people on the dance floor! Our floor was never empty and at times, there wasn’t enough space to dance. We even had wedding crashers from the wedding next door because they saw how much fun our guests were having. I owe a lot of that to Jerry. He observes what type of music people like and chooses songs based on that. He truly knows how to read people. I recommend him to any couple looking for an amazing DJ! You won’t be disappointed.

Beck created an amazing dance party at my wedding that went all evening and left the guest not ready to leave (my husband even wanted to pay him to stay till 1am, but I was ready to call it a night). He felt out the crowd well and made quick changes to song choices as he observed what got people dancing. He also took request from guest which they really enjoyed. He was very kind, polite, professional, and accommodating on our special day and we really enjoyed having him as our DJ. Thank you Beck!!

DJ Becks was easy to work with. From our first meeting, hecamei. With a vision, enthusiasm and professionalism. With my husband living in Kenya via Nigeria, he did a wonderful job incorporating obscure African music to the playlist. If anything we held him back without knowing what songs we wanted at certain times in the ceremony and reception. He picked the perfect recessional songs for our ceremony that had our guest and bridal party fancying in the aisle. Our only disappointment was that we had to leave our venue because there was another event after ours. Otherwise the party could have gone on another few hours. At the end of the end of theday I felt he played the perfect soundtrack to our Romantic Comedy.

Jerry was an amazing DJ, wedding music "consultant" and coordinator. I was so appreciative of his attention to detail, his professionalism and extreme willingness to make our wedding an experience to remember. We had many unique aspects to our reception, and he was very flexible and accommodating. More importantly, my husband is in the music industry and was very very picky about music mixing, production and selecting someone who could catch our vibe. Jerry's extremely expert and selecting the right music for each moment and did a fantastic job for us and our guests. I would hire him again for any event and recommend him highly for any bride who wants the perfect DJ.

We won the my big fair wedding contest so our wedding was not very traditional. Jerry was very accommodating. He is very easy to work with, almost like a friend not a vendor. You ask for it he will make it happen.

Beck's Entertainment and DJ services was absolutely amazing for our wedding reception! Everything was a smooth process and he worked with our last minute requests. Jerry is by far the best DJ I have ever met. He understood our requests, stuck by the song list approved by our church venue. He made sure to include everyone in the dancing. Very flexible, professional, very personable!! I would highly recommend Jerry to anyone that needs DJ services.

One word to describe Jerry, AMAZING!!! He is so kind and easy to talk to, allowing to make my wedding planning that much easier. From beginning to end, Jerry Beck was a pleasure to work with when planning our 60th birthday party. He met with me to discuss the music we wanted. He was very responsive and flexible and I had many guests tell me how much they enjoyed his personality and music choices and he even agreed to stay a bit longer when guests did not want the party to end.
I attribute the success of this event to Jerry Beck and would not hesitate to hire him again for any party.

Hire Becks Entertainment. Period. You won't regret it!

Jerry has this awesome music selection website that you can use to add "must play" songs, "preferred" songs and "do not play" songs. This was convenient to use during those busy weeks leading up to the wedding day. We were able to talk to Jerry on the phone for almost an hour about our vision in the music selection for the wedding. It was great! We shared our vision and he executed it perfectly.

Coming from Texas, we had a mixed crowd of tejano, country, 90s hip hop, and classics music lovers that he easily integrated into the entire night. He really feels the crowd out and was able to get people that I've never seen dance onto the dance floor. We received many compliments about the DJ! He was very easy to work with and amazing at what he does.

We've booked Jerry for several events and always have a great time! He's so good at reading the room and knowing which songs will get the crowd going. We've even had several of our event attendees book him for their own events because they've had so much fun.

We loved working with Jerry! He was extremely responsive and was always attentive to our requests. We had a short "must play" list and trusted him with the rest - he definitely could read the crowd and did a fantastic job! We had several employees tell us the DJ did a great job, and we hope to use him again for our next holiday party!

Jerry was so wonderful!!! My wife and I wanted to do a special dance and he was able to customize the music, exactly how we had hoped it to be. Jerry took the time to get to know us and what type of music we wanted. He felt out our guests and played the right style of music at the appropriate times. He was able to get everyone on the dance floor and served as a great emcee for the night. We would highly recommend Jerry to anyone looking for a DJ!

Don't go any further Jerry is your man! Such an awesome DJ! Jerry listens to all your needs and takes them seriously! He had the perfect music playing at all times. All we had to do was give him genres and ideas for songs/music that we liked and he put together perfect music for each portion of the wedding! EXCEEDED EVERY EXPECTATION is the only way I can describe the services provided by Jerry Beck of Becks Entertainment and DJ Service! Jerry provided DJ/MC/sound services for my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding and did a phenomenal job. From the first time I spoke with Jerry by phone, it was very clear to me that not only was I speaking to a knowledgeable professional (whose background and accomplishments speak volumes for itself), but also to a genuinely nice and caring individual who is committed to exceeding the expectations of his clients. Jerry uses technology to the benefit of his clients, from the online customized playlist tool to his use of a modern digital system, etc. In addition, he possesses a unique ability to read an audience. If the selected music is not working, you can rest assured he will know it and will effortlessly transition on to another song that does in order to keep your audience pumped up! Jerry’s arsenal of music is quite expansive and will appeal to audiences of all types. My son and daughter–in-law’s Persian/American wedding was no exception. Jerry was able to provide music that appealed to the entire mixture of cultures amongst the couple’s guests, who took note of it and are still talking about what a fantastic job the DJ did at the wedding and how balanced the music was. Music can certainly make or break a wedding, so I highly recommend you get the best and in San Diego, that would be Jerry Beck of Becks Entertainment and DJ Service. Jerry was wonderful. I read his story and loved his passion for his work. He spent time talking with us about what we wanted to create for each aspect of our wedding day - the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the reception, and our special songs. He wanted as much input as we wanted to give him to help guide his choice of songs, but he assured us that he could fill in any "blanks" based on what we had given him and by reading the crowd...and he did! I was thrilled with our preparation process, the music Jerry played, and with him as a DJ. He has a great personality. He is confident but mellow and comfortable at the same time. He introduced us, the toasts, led a few line dances, and more. It was all just right! I would recommend Jerry for any event and would definitely hire him again.

If I could give Jerry Beck a 50 star review, I would. He is absolutely amazing. He will ask you lots and lots of questions, but then he puts together a plan that makes your wedding the absolute BEST! Like a great conductor, he orchestrates your event for maximum enjoyment. We threw all sorts of "unexpected" things at him, a marching band (yes, really), a live performance by the groom, and he took it all in stride. And his knowledge of music is superb--I saw people dance at the wedding that NEVER take to the dance floor (my brother Jeff, my uncle Eugene); he bridges the multi-generation divide easily, because he knows his craft. You can not go wrong hiring Becks Entertainment, this is a skilled professional that makes it look easy and effortless. Even hyper-critical people (we all know them) complimented me on the DJ. When it comes to planning your wedding, I think the first thing anyone thinks about is the music...will a phenomenal time be had by all the guest...and will it be MEMORABLE! My wife and I decided we wanted to hire the best DJ and Entertainment service possible. We found Beck's Entertainment and DJ services through wedding wire. To be quite frank, we were very lucky to secure the services of Beck's Entertainment considering their extensive and impressive client list.

Jerry Beck was awesome and is sort of a music mentalist with large crowds! To explain, he definitely reads the guests at your event and plays music that will keep everyone dancing and having a great time. No matter the age, background or where they travel from. Our wedding was the "bomb" large in part because of the services provided by Jerry Beck and Beck's Entertainment. It may seem cliche call him the consummate professional but that is exactly what he is. This becomes obvious from the time you plan your wedding until the end of the event. All my bride and I can say is "Thank You" to Beck's Entertainment for exceeding our expectations and making our event even more than we envisioned!

Jerry was great. His playlist was fun, and he was able to incorporate our song requests. He got all our guests dancing, even the people who don't normally dance. He stepped in and helped MC the toasts and speeches part of our ceremony when he saw that we hadn't really planned that part out very well. Definitely saved the day. He was also able to track down some hard to find songs for our fist dance/ mother son dance at the last minute. Jerry's a great guy and very professional. I would definitely recommend him.

Becks did an amazing job being the DJ at our wedding! He was able to get myself and the officiant mic'd up wonderfully so that no one could see the microphones and could hear all of us perfectly even though it was outdoors and a little windy. For our cocktail hour we had given him a playlist to follow that he followed wonderfully and even continued it with the same type of feeling when the cocktail hour went a little long. He helped us customize our first song and a few little surprises throughout the night. Once the reception started he kept the party going and played a great mix of songs for everyone! I would definitely recommend him to friends!

Jerry met all of our expectations for our wedding! I was a little nervous about booking a DJ for our wedding, because I had no idea what to base my decision on & music was going to be a huge part of our wedding. I met with Jerry before booking him. After meeting with him, I could tell he absolutely knows his job like the back of his hand. He also listened to, and heard, what we had in mind for our big day. We even had special requests (Greek music), which he made happen. We wanted our guests to dance for the majority of the night, which they did because the music totally played to our audience. Jerry Beck was the DJ at my wedding and recommended to me by a friend. He is very on top of phone calls and emails and always made time to answer any questions I had. I planned my wedding from 1,000 miles away, so I was not able to meet him in person before the wedding, which can be nerve-wracking, but Jerry was fantastic to work with and is just a great person. We did have a couple special song requests and he made sure he had the correct versions. We also had a singer/guitarist and they worked together seamlessly even though they had never met before. The week of the wedding, I was stressed out and didn't have songs picked out for a lot of parts of the reception- I just left many of them up to Jerry and he did a great job. Most of all, he was really easy to work with and made the music portion of my wedding easier. I had so many other things to worry about- I am so glad I could trust Jerry to take care of the music. After the wedding, multiple friends of mine commented to me that our DJ never played a bad song! I would strongly recommend anyone to hire him for their next event- Jerry has a gift for knowing exactly what to play and when!

I first heard of Jerry and Beck’s Entertainment from a co-worker who had Jerry as her DJ at her wedding about five years ago. She just raved about him and right then I knew I had to book him ASAP. I called him that day and booked him. Thank goodness too because he was already booking up for the time of my wedding which was a year out! Everyone wants Jerry to DJ their wedding! After booking Jerry, I hired our wedding planner and she said the same thing right away – that we had to book Jerry. Good thing because we already had booked him!

Jerry did the following services for us, all of which turned out PERFECT: Unlimited hours, ceremony set-up, cocktail hour set-up, uplights, lit monogram, slideshow and cake lighting. I was actually having issues with converting my slideshow to be compatible for Jerry to play so he totally went out of his way and took care of the whole thing which was such a relief because you can imagine how much was going on for the wedding during that time. Jerry didn’t just perform the services we had contracted with him, he went above and beyond what we were expecting and his services were priceless!

Jerry played the perfect music and catered to all age groups while still making it fun and lively. My Dad even said that Jerry’s music was awesome and he is not easy to please in the music realm. Not only was Jerry’s music selection perfect, but he was professional and followed the timeline to a “T.” He had people up dancing and out of their chairs before dinner was even over. Obviously it was a good time!

I highly recommend Jerry and Beck’s Entertainment and consider ourselves to lucky to have had him at our wedding.

Jerry was simply awesome! We had a Hawaiian theme party and he knew just the right music to play at the right time. He got everyone involved we were all dancing, do the limbo and having a great time. Our party would not of even been close to as fun if Jerry was not there creating a great atmosphere. He was very cordial and accessible before the party. He listen to my needs, what music I and my family wanted. We also had a lot of young and teenagers there and he played great, respectful music that was lively and upbeat. We had Jerry do an 80's dance for our elementary school. He brought a dancer to help get the kids moving and played games. The kids and parents all had an awesome time. Our DJ had to cancel at the very last minute due to a family emergency. Our original DJ arranged for Jerry to DJ our wedding instead. We did not get to meet him and I was only told that she had gone over everything with Jerry and that he would be great. I got tons of compliments on Jerry! As people were giving speeches he slipped in some VERY appropriately funny songs. Given the circumstances, Jerry did an excellent job given that he was pretty much given our itinerary just hours before our start time!!! Very very pleased.

I don't even know where to start, other than to say that Jerry is simply AMAZING! Jerry spoke with us several times before the wedding to get an idea of our overall vibe and what we were hoping for, which is something that I really think sets him apart. Then, on our actual wedding day, he DELIVERED. The dance floor was PACKED all night, and as soon as it looked like people were about to take a break he would play a song that kept them going even longer! Truly, do not look anywhere else for a DJ. You cannot get any better than Jerry.

We had several people comment on how great our DJ was, and we couldn't agree more! I have been to a lot of weddings, but I have never seen a dance floor so full of people dancing and having a good time. You even got a 75+ year old woman out there doing the Cupid Shuffle! How cool is that? My parents were especially pleased with your selection of music, and the way you kept the night flowing.

We had and absolutely amazing time at our wedding, and a large part was thanks to you. You are awesome, and I will definitely be recommending you to other brides!

Jerry Beck is fabulous! He played for a singles party at the Handlery and was fantastic with his music choice and kept the dance floor full! As one attendee commented, "I knew after he played two songs that he really knew what he was doing! He's a keeper!!" So thank you, Jerry Beck, for helping to make my party a success!

Jerry was awesome. He was a great help to our entire wedding process. We did not have a wedding planner so Jerry help to set up a very productive timeline that ensured we were able to get everything we wanted out of our wedding. Jerry was awesome. ALL our guests had a great time. His online tools made it easy for us to provide some background on us and songs we wanted to hear. He definitely knows how to read the crowd to keep the party jumpin'. I highly recommend him and wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

The best compliment for a choice in DJ is that others have written to me asking for Jerry's cell.
We never worried if Jerry would be there, his location at the venue, he has worked at the venue before and the owners found him to be very professional.
i would use Jerry for any future activity.
He complimented the bride on her choice of music selections and if she wanted a certain version, Jerry located it for her.

I am a tad difficult to please in the music area. :) Jerry was able to meet all of our needs and then some. Would recommend him to anyone, especially those like me who don't love the normal every day wedding music.

Jerry Beck ROCKED our wedding reception!!! He is a master DJ!! Jerry is experienced, professional, and thorough.He directed our wedding ceremony with the music we chose and played just the right music for cocktail hour. Everyone loved him, as he made our reception so much fun!!! He did such a fantastic job engaging the crowd and kept the dance floor hopping. We received several texts the next day from family and friends saying how much fun they had. This we owe all to you Jerry!! We used Jerry for our own wedding and now this time for our son. Both times Jerry rocked the house - everyone had a great time. People that normally don't dance were even up on the dance floor. Jerry does a fantastic job of reading the crowd and adjusting the music to the mood of everyone. He is so much fun, so nice and definitely flexible. We greatly appreciated all his experience and wisdom he shared with our son and his wife in their planning. I would use Jerry again without hesitation!

Jerry Beck is amazing! Ours was a casual backyard wedding, but still required a LOT of planning. Jerry was with us all the way - professional, patient, with a great personality. He arranged a planning meeting at the house and the day of the wedding, he showed up several hours early to set up and make sure everything was perfect. He worked with the very opinionated bride to make sure the playlist was just what she envisioned and kept everything running smoothly at the event. He knows how to read his audience and chooses music that really gets everybody moving. Jerry is simply the best!

At no point did I feel like Jerry was there for just another "job." He was most personable and worked diligently to provide what we wanted, how we wanted it and offered professional and creating suggestions strategically and respectfully. He did much much more than just play music for us...he was a voice for us...he was flexible...appeased to everyone involved with the event, and incredibly professional. After the event, I did not consider him to be just another DJ providing a service...he was more of a professional entertainment mediator who carried a great deal of weight on the day with seeming ease and with a smile.

My fiance and I met Jerry at an open-house event at the Darlington House, which was the primary reason why we chose him as he is familiar with the logistics and venue. For the ceremony, he cued our music choices as planned, and provided wireless microphones and efficient sound systems, which all helped to ensure that the ceremony ran smoothly. For the reception, Jerry was very comfortable with MC duties; played great music during the dinner service (we had provided him with some guidelines, but didn't give him any specific choices); and he made our reception so much fun! For example, Jerry brought out nearly every guests at the wedding when he came down to the dance floor and taught the whole wedding a "special" dance named after our family name. Overall, Jerry was very a professional, reliable, and an awesome DJ. The power went out momentarily at the beginning of the reception, and Jerry handled the situation like a professional working with the venue's manager and our coordinator to ensure that the power came back on. The guests didn't even notice that the power went out. He helped to make a part of our wedding experience enjoyable and stress-free. My fiance and I would highly recommend him as your wedding DJ!

Amazing!!!!! He had everyone from my 83 year old grandma to my sorority sisters on the dance floor.
