I cannot recommend Beauty of the Soul Studio enough! Emily photographed our engagement shoot and wedding and she was professional, communicative, kind, and so accommodating with our needs and quirks. We are the type of couple who HATES photos and we barely have taken any of us as a couple ourselves, but Emily ensured we were comfortable, took the reigns, and dealt wonderfully with our slow responses to her emails throughout the chaos. We originally didn’t want to do an engagement shoot (even though we paid for it) but she took the time to explain why she recommends it, and we are so glad she did it. We love the photos and our friends and family continue to rave about how beautiful they turned out. And they really, really did! If you’re considering Beauty of the Soul Studio, I know you won’t be disappointed. -

Emily was a dream to work with. She was kind, calm, and helpful, which are all great qualities during wedding planning! On the day of, she got so many amazing shots. We had a Catholic Mass and having a Catholic photographer who knew which moments to capture was very important to us. We love all of our photos and would highly recommend Emily as a photographer for any wedding! -

How can we even express how grateful we are to have had Emily capture our wedding day?! She is amazing in every way. We knew we wanted someone who focused on a mixture of both candid moments and posed photos. Emily was able to do just that- she gave wonderful suggestions and hints for posing during portraits while also capturing the most fun, candid images. Since we live out of state, we had not met Emily prior to our wedding day; however, you would never know because she was so friendly, inviting, and easy going from the second we met her, making her feel like a friend from the start! During the reception, she seemed to just blend in with the party/guests, having fun and capturing so many special moments; you can tell she just really enjoys her job, which makes it so much more special. She was super timely with turn around time as well! She is so talented behind the camera & finding the most unique and beautiful angles/backdrops, as well as with editing the final pictures. We can never thank her enough, as she delivered everything we wanted and more! Thank you so much Emily for being a part of our day and helping to capture all the special moments. Emily was the photographer for our wedding and did a beautiful job. We had a full Catholic mass and she is well experienced in photographing Catholic weddings. She was very responsive to my many questions and emails. It was important to us to have respectful photos during mass and not miss too much of our ceremony doing couples photos after. Emily is so easy going and experienced she met both our requests. I relied on her experience when knowing what photos to take, I gave her a list of the important ones to us then the rest were up to her. She took all the reception site detail photos I didn't even know I wanted without me asking her to (rings, flowers, invite, bouquets, all the little decoration details), thank you!!!
She got my proofs to me in less then 3 weeks after my wedding. The cost was very reasonable and we couldn't have been happier with Beauty of the Soul Studio! -

We are truly glad we chose Beauty of the Soul for our wedding photography! It was a gorgeous day in many senses of the word, and Emily captured it all perfectly.
Beyond these photos, Emily was a great part of our team throughout the entire process. She was easy to work and communicate with, and we so appreciated her willingness to jaunt around the city to capture our special moments in special places. She took all the hurried moments in stride and her photos make it look like time was standing still even though it didn't always feel that way. -

The Absolute Best!
Beauty of the Soul Studio was a joy to work with from just starting the wedding planning process, to the day itself, and beyond! It was one of the best decisions we made! Our package included an engagement shoot, which we found to be extremely helpful getting used to being in front of the camera and taking directions (since neither my husband nor I had much experience with professional photography). The day of the wedding, she was extremely helpful before the Wedding Mass keeping everything moving so we didn't fall behind schedule. Our ceremony was early in the day, so I ended up running a few minutes late to the Church, but Emily was still able to slip in a first look with my dad while keeping everything still on schedule! She was awesome with directing family members and friends for big pictures after the ceremony. Emily was able to capture everything from beautiful small moments throughout the day, little details at our reception, gorgeous formal portraits, fun candids, and phenomenal photos of our Nuptial Mass! We really cannot recommend Beauty of the Soul Studio enough! Thank you so much Emily -

The Absolute Best!
Emily was amazing to work with! She was able to answer all of our (many) questions in preparation for both our engagement shoot and wedding day. She helped us create a schedule to ensure we got every shot we wanted, but was also flexible as the day progressed.
Emily was able to incorporate an old film camera of my grandfather's for some pictures which helped give our photos a personal touch that we will cherish forever.
Both our pictures and wedding album are absolutely stunning. I find myself looking back at them frequently - I love them so much! Emily captured all of the details of our day perfectly and I am so glad we chose her to be our photographer! -

Amazing across the board!
Emily is just fantastic. She was so flexible with us when we had to reschedule our engagement shoot (twice!) and was such a guiding light when it came to wedding plans. We did not have a wedding planner, so Emily was quick to help understand and map out the timeline of the day and was so knowledgeable. She's also very professional, sweet, and took two very unphotogenic people and gave us timeline photos that we'll cherish. We had a very small (24 person) wedding, and she blended in with our families so well and helped move the day along. Can't recommend her more. -

Emily came to us highly recommended from a mutual friend. She captured the best moments from my wedding and then just two months later she captured my maternity pictures. I cannot imagine having anyone else there to capture such special moments in my life. We have SO many great things to say about Emily and Beauty of the Soul Photography! From our first inquiry, Emily was extremely helpful in guiding us what to look for in a wedding photographer. Other photographers we met with immediately started "selling" their packages, but Emily set up a zoom meeting with us to get to know us, our story and desires for the wedding day, and then helped us create a custom package. Her pricing is a great deal and she was even able to work within our budget needs, while still helping us feel confident about the package choices we made - we were able to get 6 hours of coverage, a second shooter, and an album all within our budget! From her helpful and clear website with vendor recommendations, to her easy booking and payment system, clear communication, flexibility in scheduling and traveling, creativeness yet openness in ideas, and easy going nature - we totally recommend Emily and feel so honored that she was available to photograph our wedding. Hiring a Catholic wedding photographer was really important to us - and Emily was amazing in how she captured such beautiful moments during our wedding mass - we had a super small church with one main aisle and Emily was able to get ALL the shots that we expected (and more!) - our portrait shots went super quick because she ordered them in a way that had all guests photographed, but released early to the cocktail hour when no longer needed - this is what allowed us to stay on our timeline from the beginning of the night and ensured everything else went smoothly after. What we appreciated most about Emily was her easy-going, friendly, and kind demeanor - she made us feel comfortable (we've never been professionally photographed!) and gave us the freedom to decide what shots and locations we wanted in both the engagement session and the wedding day - but she was there with tons on ideas and guidance for what she thought looked best and offered so many suggestions. We received so many beautiful and artistic photographs from the day that stemmed from her creative shots. We received our gallery just a few short weeks after the wedding, and had over a thousand photos - we were amazed! Everything was so easy to download and view, she even sent us a sneak peak of photos within days that we got to view while we were on our honeymoon which was so special. Lastly, Emily's photography skill and experience can be summed up by us saying that all of the photos our friends/family took throughout the night have Emily IN the photos, because she was RIGHT there capturing EVERY special moment - we don't know how she managed to be in ALL the places at once, but we did not have one single moment missed being captured. We are truly grateful to Emily and Beauty of the Soul Photography - you would be lucky to have her photograph your wedding! -

I have absolutely loved working with Emily Ott of Beauty of the Soul Studio. She has been so easy to communicate with and just a joy to work with. Emily was incredibly flexible both in the lead up to the wedding finding time to schedule our pre-shoot and during the wedding itself willing to follow me to a last minute shooting location right before the reception. She made my husband and I feel totally at ease at our pre-wedding session. It was so fun to walk around the park looking for beautiful locations and talk with her as we took pictures. She made sure to ask us about what we were excited for in the wedding and used those answers to help train her photographic eye during the wedding itself. Her photography is absolutely gorgeous. We just got our sneak peak from our wedding and I absolutely love everything she sent over. I particularly love the solo shots she got of me in my dress as well as the photos of my husband and I dancing in the woods. We told her we were having a magical fairy garden wedding and wanted photos to match and she delivered! I'm so excited to see the rest of what she captured! -

Emily helped make our day as special as it could be
Emily was extremely helpful, kind, and wonderful in every way! She responded to everything we wanted to do and made sure it happened during the chaos of our big day, and was able to recommend fantastic shots that we hadn't planned to do, even on a tight schedule she always made it feel natural and not rushed. We would highly recommend Emily to every couple who is searching for a photographer. -

Best Photographer Experience!
My husband and I loved working with Emily. From start to finish, she was an absolute angel. So easy to communicate with, extremely flexible with our COVID reschedule, and just overall a lovely person.
I'm a pretty awkward model for photos, but Emily was able to take charge with pose suggestions and helping us feel comfortable and at ease. Working together on our engagement photos definitely helped, as well.
On the wedding day, she was so easy going, good with my more chill (and sometimes less chill) directions, and got some amazing shots, including a million family portraits I wanted. She was especially impressive given she was only 2 months post-partum, which she communicated would be the case early on to ensure we felt comfortable and had multiple backup options in place should she not be able to step up for the wedding after having her baby.
I can't recommend her enough - hire her!! -

Keeping Our Memories Vibrant!
Beauty of the Soul exceeded our expectations! Emily was the only photographer we both agreed on since she checked all the boxes. She was within our price range, professional, fit our style, and most importantly, was experienced in Catholic wedding ceremonies!
As part of our package, we decided to take engagement photos for our save the dates. Emily gave us great feedback on locations and things to consider, such as reservations and fees. Ultimately, we decided to take engagement photos at the Kennedy Center. Emily quickly scheduled everything and came early to scope out potential locations. She was super helpful during the shoot, made us super comfortable, and the photos came out great!
In 2020, we encountered COVID-19 uncertainty. Thankfully, Emily was very patient and understanding. She waived her rescheduling fees and allowed us to adjust our contract to align with our new wedding plans. She made the moments leading up to the wedding very smooth. And things went even smoother on our wedding day! Emily arrived on time and took the lead. She was an essential piece to our wedding day and captured some great moments. She did an excellent job switching from a rich and vibrant style for our joyful moments to a romantic and soft one for our sentimental moment. Overall, we’d highly recommend Beauty of the Soul and we can’t wait for her to photograph our reception next year! -

Emily was the photographer for my wedding in June of 2019 in Leesburg, Virginia. Finding the right photographer within our budget in the Washington D.C. area was a challenge - until I found Emily! In addition to being a talented photographer, Emily was a great communicator. She is kind-hearted, patient, willing to listen, and all-around easy and joyful to work with.
My husband and I did both an engagement shoot and full wedding package with Emily. Neither of us were experienced being in front of the camera, but Emily made it easy. We received the pictures so quickly after both the engagement shoot and wedding, and I cannot fully express how pleased I was with the quality of the photos, the variety, and the naturalness of all the poses! Our wedding was a traditional Catholic Nuptial Mass, so it also meant a lot to us that Emily and her secondary shooter were both incredibly respectful and unobtrusive during the ceremony, while still getting so many great shots in the tiny chapel we were at!
Your wedding photos forever shape the memories of that wonderful day that you will look back on for years to come. I am so glad we entrusted Emily with the capturing of those memories! -

My wife Hsiao-Wei and I hired Emily Ott and Beauty of the Soul Studio for our June 15, 2019 wedding in Vienna, Virginia at the Hunter House. Emily and her staff were incredibly professional, helpful, positive, and took some amazing images at the ceremony and at the outdoor reception. She was only noticeable when needed and even followed up with a second unpaid session at our request the following week to get some photos we missed on that day due to the commotion. Overall, I would highly recommend Beauty of the Soul Studio if you are planning a wedding in the DC metro area. The images she created are now a part of our love story and we are eternally grateful to Emily for her service.

Beauty of the Soul Studio came as a recommendation from a friend of a friend, and Emily was immediately responsive, helpful, and flexible. She worked with our desired budget to offer us a personalized package. We were impressed by the whole process of working with Emily: the resources she brought to our initial meeting, the contract that was detailed but understandable, and the weeks prior to the wedding where she kindly reminded us for shot lists, gave us instructions on her second shooter, etc. The pictures themselves worked for our wedding style which had an outdoor element, smaller guest count, and some historical features that we wanted to highlight. Emily's photography and editing is bright, fun, and captured some truly special moments that we would have otherwise missed! Thank you Emily (and Brittany) for your efforts to highlight the special moments of our wedding day! We would recommend them to any future couple! -

Emily was AMAZING. She did such a job keeping our rowdy group in line and getting all the money shots that I didn't even know I needed for our intimate elopement. She was timely, professional, organized, and super accommodating. My mother was in a wheelchair and she helped think of cute shots and make the process as least draining as possible on her. I honestly couldn't recommend her enough to couples...when my MIL got the pictures she responded with "THESE ARE GREAT!!!! Emily did a great job in capturing everything and everyone. I feel like I'm reliving it all again. " and I feel like that is the most accurate way of describing our experience! -

100% Would Recommend Emily!!
Emily was recommended to us as a photographer by one of past classmates in college. Emily and I both hail from Marymount University and I honestly knew then that I was making the best decision for a photographer.
From the beginning, Emily worked with me as I was long distant and not in the same state as her or the wedding and we had a Skype call. She was easy to talk to and explained everything well. As we got closer to the wedding date, I reached out to Emily multiple times about the photography logistics but also for other things such as videographer recommendations, Bible verse guidance, and other wedding day questions. She went above and beyond to answer my questions and guide me in the right direction. For the week of the wedding, we finalized our logistics and it was just so easy to work with her on making our day go as smoothly as possible. Finally, the day of was a whirlwind (and since my husband and I decided not to do a first look last minute, it was kind of difficult to keep the bridal parties separated before the ceremony) but it was so great having Emily (and Hana) as our photographers. I barely noticed they were there and Emily captured such raw emotion on that day that every time I go through the pictures I literally tear up. She has a great eye for these moments. Joe and I had so much fun taking our bridal shots with her as well. I was also extremely surprised and happy to see how professional her contracts are written up; the way her website is set up and the way she releases the photos: so easy and VERY professional quality. Great lighting, great editing, literally PERFECT. Keep up the good work and thank you for capturing one of the best days of me and Joe's life!! -
