Amazing makeup artist!

Joy did an amazing job doing my makeup for the trial and wedding day! I had the trial on the day of my bridal shower to enjoy it and received so many compliments. Everyone said my makeup was flawless and that they had to know who did it. She listened to exactly what I wanted and gave me a beautiful super glam look! For the wedding day, we did the same thing and it lasted all day. I was nervous at first about the airbrush and if it would make my face break out but it did not and it lasted all day through sweat and tears. We had it done at 7 AM and it lasted until midnight +. I highly recommend Joy and will absolutely use her again in the future if I need to get my makeup done for anything. She was also super sweet and we had great conversations during both sessions.

Joy (Makeup) is the kind of person you want to surround yourself with on your wedding day. Joy was nothing short of precise, focused, efficient, calm, and patient. I was speechless when I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked like a bride but I was still me. Nothing was too much or too little; just right. She also made all of the important women in my life look and feel stunning. Joy noticed I was anxious and was so understanding and provided so much reassurance and positivity. Everyone's makeup and hair stayed put all day; it survived, tears, laughter, and sweat! I am so grateful to Joy for making my day so beautiful.

Fantastic Experience For My Daughter's Wedding!

JL Makeup and Beauty Studio absolutely did a beautiful job on all of my Daughter’s Bridesmaids, Flower Girls, Grandmothers, Moms and especially my Daughter!! Joy had a timeline for all of us for hair and makeup. Joy and the other stylists that worked on us were extremely efficient and had all of us done in plenty of time to get dressed! Everyone looked radiant and beautiful!! I would definitely recommend JL Makeup and Beauty Studio for any occasion!!

The world's most bridal makeup!

Choosing a makeup artist for my wedding was a hard choice for me and after making a detailed pro/con list of different stylists, I am so happy that I chose Joy of Beauty by Joy! I have never truly LOVED makeup that I’ve had professional done before, but at both my trial and on my wedding day, Joy knocked it out of the park. She made me look like me but so much more elevated and polished while being so sweet and relatable. She knows all of the tricks to help you look flawless in your photos and was able to take any suggestions of my bridesmaids and I and turn them into sheer perfection! My makeup didn’t budge after over 12 hours of wear and I never felt shiny or like I needed any touchups. I can’t possibly express how much I loved working with Joy and her team and how thrilled I was with the results she provided for my wedding. She is absolutely the best in the business and I would make the same choice ten times over again! Thank you, Joy!

Makeup perfection

Sooooo incredibly happy with my make-up by Joy for my wedding day. It was honestly PERFECT.

Joy is so extremely talented. I was very worried about my make-up for my wedding day because I wear very limited make-up on a daily basis and really don't know much about make-up products, etc.

I explained to Joy that I wanted a simple/natural look but also wanted it to be special and enough for my big day. She totally nailed it. I was SO happy with it, 100% confident that it was perfect. I received SO many compliments all day.

In addition, my bridesmaids, moms & flower girl LOVED their make up as well. Two of them even said to me that this is the first time they had their make up done and actually loved it.

Joy and her team are so incredibly professional, respond to you immediately, show up early, really everything you could ask for.

Beautiful hair and makeup!

Joy did amazing makeup for myself and my bridal party. Kendall did a great job on hair as well. Both were prompt and professional. They really listened to what we all wanted and took the time to make sure everything was perfect, without running late. I would definitely recommend them.

Joy and Katie at Beauty by Joy were absolutely incredible. Because of them, I felt like the most beautiful bride. My entire bridal party was so in love with them and could not have look any more gorgeous. Our makeup lasted the entire day - from 8 am until midnight. I'm so glad that I chose to work with them!

Joy was a lifesaver! She was super professional and great with what makeup she chose. She did my bridal makeup and then also for my mom and teenage daughter. We all felt so beautiful for the big day! Joy came on location to my home! I included pics of her setup with us! So pleased!!!!

Joy was fabulous!! She was so accomadating. She drove such a distant to come do my makeup as the bride when she already had another wedding later in the day booked! When I went for the trial, Her shop was the cutest, clean, most welcoming place. She was super helpful and my makeup looked beautiful! I would recommend Joy to everyone!

Joy was fabulous to work with! She was super accommodating (we had a lot of girls needing to get ready in a tiny cabin) and her work was stunning. I look back on my photos and can't believe it's actually me!! My makeup was absolutely perfect! She listened to my wants and didn't do anything without checking with me first (I'm a false eye lash newbie!) I would highly recommend her and her team for any time you need to look your absolute best! My bridesmaids and I have been joking that we need an event as an excuse to hire her again! I cannot rave about her enough :)

Joy was amazing! I typically NEVER wear make up besides foundation on a day to day basis so I was a little worried about not looking "natural" for my wedding day. Boy oh boy did she hit it dead on! My bridesmaids were also so impressed with her work. I couldn't of been happier with the way my makeup looked! Joy deserves more than 5 stars! HIGHLY recommended.

Joy helped me feel more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. The airbrush makeup felt great on my skin for the whole day and night. I do not normally where very much makeup and I was very comfortable. Joy is probably the vendor my bridesmaids have complimented the most. My mom, my four bridesmaids, and I all loved our makeup.

Joy and Mara bent over backwards to help me over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend when I had a cancellation before my wedding. They were quick to respond to my email and made it possible to have a last minute makeup trial for my rehearsal dinner and then makeup on site at my wedding. Joy and her team did an amazing job for my wedding. She was very easy to get in touch with and was very flexible the day of the wedding. She did an amazing job with all of my ladies and we all loved the lashes!! She worked very well with my hair stylist the day of the wedding to coordinate and have flexibility to make the day run smoothly. She Provided me with a schedule prior to the day also which made things go a lot smoother. Joy travelled to Deep Creek MD so myself and my bridesmaids could get ready in our hotel and it could not have been an easier process! She did such a great job with everyone's makeup and we got many compliments. I would highly recommend her to anyone and the best part is that the makeup stayed perfect all day and night even through endless dancing!

Bottom line, Joy made me feel flawless on my wedding day. It really felt like I was getting advice from a great girlfriend about what did / did not look good on me. I had a number of girlfriends getting married at the same time as me and, I can say with complete confidence, Joy was the most responsive, flexible, patient makeup artist I could have worked with in the Pittsburgh area. From the trial to the morning of my wedding, Joy kept me in the loop and was incredibly organized and professional with scheduling and listening to what I wanted. I've had my makeup professionally done in the past and have ALWAYS ended up going back to fix something on my own. For myself and my four bridesmaids, not a single one of us wanted to touch anything on our faces because we felt so beautiful. Joy takes the time to talk through her process with you to make sure that she was understanding what we wanted and how we felt about the looks.

I truly felt like the best version of myself that day and would HIGHLY recommend Joy to any bride in the Pittsburgh area.

Joy was absolutely fantastic to work with. She was so flexible and responded to all of my emails so quickly. Both my trial and the day-of make up were AMAZING. Joy did such a beautiful job and made my mom and I look flawless. One of my wedding guests actually said to me at the end of the night, you look as fresh as you did at 2pm! Finding a make-up artist for my Aug. 9, 2015 wedding was a difficult task. I didn't have a bridal party, had another vendor doing hair and picked a Sunday for our date. My decisions ended up eliminating so many options, but Joy was completely flexible and more than willing to work with my small party. She came highly recommended and did a fantastic job! She listened to everyone's wants and needs - my mother and mother-in-law also had their make-up done- while adding her own special touches. We all looked flawless! I can't thank her enough !

I recently worked with Joy for my wedding. My mother, step-mother, two bridesmaids, and my "bridesman" (he got some anti-shine "makeup", etc.) got their makeup done with me. Joy was extremely helpful, flexible, and professional throughout the day. She worked with one of my bridesmaids who has skin allergies, using a combination of her own makeup and my bridesmaid's makeup to make sure she didn't have any problems with her skin. Joy also allowed us to work with my hairdresser in the same location, which helped me immensely with my schedule for the day, and allowed us to all spend time together during the morning of the wedding instead of running around to separate appointments. She was also nice enough to accommodate any extra or last-minute requests (i.e. my mom wanting false eyelashes after seeing mine, etc.) and she is really great about communicating with you about any questions, concerns, or changes with your makeup to make sure that you are happy with everything she is doing.
I received quite a few compliments on my makeup (including a guest who herself does wedding makeup asking for Joy's information to book her for her own upcoming wedding), and my husband later told me he was so happy I looked like myself instead of looking too overdone. All of our makeup lasted throughout the whole day despite heat, humidity, and no air conditioning for our July wedding, but it's not impossible to wash off when you're ready either like some waterproof makeup can be. My makeup looked great both in person AND in our photos and I couldn't be happier with everything Joy did for me! I hope that I can find a reason to use Joy's services again in the future! If I could have Joy do my makeup everyday, I would!

Joy did makeup for me, my bridesmaids, and my mom on my wedding day. She was there on time, was very pleasant and friendly, and did a great job with each of our looks! She was also very flexible with our hair schedule, which didn't exactly go as smoothly as I had hoped. I was very pleased with her service and would recommend to anyone!

Joy did an absolutely amazing job with my make-up for my June wedding. Everything was flawless and I loved the soft feel of the airbrush foundation. She was very accommodating with meeting at the hair salon to do mine and my bridesmaids make-up. She took her time and listened to what I wanted. Everyone in the bridal party was very pleased with her services. I had plenty of compliments all night and my make-up held up great even in a hot barn and rainy weather. Joy is absolutely AMAZING!! She was a dream to work with for my wedding. I was blown away by her professionalism, talent, and attention to detail from the day of my trial through the wedding day. Joy did an absolutely incredible job with my makeup and made me feel so beautiful ... She was able to do exactly what I wanted (and even more) when I couldn't quite put into words what I wanted. On the day of the wedding, Joy and her assistant arrived exactly on time and were so much fun to work with. She did full air brush makeup for myself, my mom, and my 5 bridesmaids on the morning of the wedding. Everyone looked FLAWLESS!!! Multiple wedding guests complimented throughout the day on how beautiful all the girls looked. Not only did everyone look gorgeous, but Joy and her assistant stayed on schedule all morning and actually had everyone done a little early so we could sneak some extra pictures in with the photographer!! Joy did an AMAZING job on makeup for me, my bridesmaids, and the moms for my wedding! She is incredibly talented and worked MAGIC to make me look and feel so beautiful on my special day, and my makeup stayed perfect through an entire night of dancing. Joy was the most organized of all my vendors and was always so quick to respond to my emails and texts. She is a true professional yet incredibly fun to work with! Joy and Marybeth are AMAZING. I worked with Joy earlier this summer when I was a bridesmaid and knew I had to have her for my own wedding on November 15, 2014! Joy was absolutely fabulous. Her and her assistant showed up on time and completed myself and the bridal party including the MOB and MOG in the time agreed upon. Everyone looked amazing and they all raved about their makeup which never happens with my group of girls! Not only does Joy do amazing work but she is a blast to hang out with and it felt like it was just another friend in the room. After meeting Joy I think I have fallen in love with makeup. You can tell it is her passion and it shows in her work. Booking and communication was a breeze which made the whole process even better and her prices are worth it and reasonable for a flawless look. I can see now why she books up so fast so don't bother looking for anyone else and book Joy now!!!!!

I cannot say enough good things about Joy! She did such a fantastic job on my wedding day makeup-- I received so many compliments and still to this day have people ask me who did my makeup for my wedding (I've been married almost 10 months now :) )

Joy is great! I was planning my wedding from out of town and scheduling a trial session was hard for me because of the distance, but Joy was so flexible and helpful to me and worked with me to make it convenient for my schedule. She responded to all emails super fast and kept in touch throughout the entire process. She was very helpful at the trial (I definitely recommend taking the time to do one) and worked to achieve the exact look I wanted. Also, the trial run makeup was great, but the wedding day application was a million times better so keep in mind that the trial is truly an opportunity to work with different looks and let Joy know exactly what you want! She made myself, my bridesmaids, and my mom look so beautiful on my wedding day. She is very pleasant to work with, definitely a professional, and we are so glad she was there to make us fabulous! I would recommend her to all brides and would certainly use her services again. Thanks Beauty by Joy!

I am not a make-up person, but if I could have Joy come everyday and do my makeup for me- I might change my mind!
Joy was so patient with me at my trial and spent extra time helping me figure out my look. She even let me try fake lashes since I was worried about if I would be able to wear them with my hard contact lenses.
Day of the wedding Joy was prompt and so lovely with everyone! I got airbrushed (which was a new experience for me) and I would recommend it for any bride who does not want to worry about her makeup.
Joy is wonderful! I would recommend Joy for anyone who wants to look perfect on their big day!

Joy did such a fantastic job on my makeup as well as everyone else in our bridal party! I am usually very picky about my makeup and the brands but I couldn't have been more pleased!! Joy did an amazing job on the wedding day makeup for me and my bridal party! She came right to where we were getting ready which was really convenient. Everyone's makeup looked gorgeous, but natural - she really brought out everyone's best features. Joy did a wonderful job with makeup at my wedding. I had a two day Indian wedding and she complemented each look so perfectly!!

I've never had makeup done before and don't wear makeup on a day to day basis so I was apprehensive about it, but she made me feel so calm and beautiful! I couldn't believe how comfortable and good I felt when I looked in the mirror. She even made me feel confident in red lipstick!

I would definitely recommend Joy to anyone looking to have a stress-free, beautiful look on their wedding day that doesn't smudge or change for hours and hours.

She is professional, very prompt and responsive via email, text, phone, and always prepared.

I cannot say enough fabulous things about Joy! Joy was wonderful before the wedding, and she did an outstanding job on my wedding day! Joy worked with each of my briedesmaid to tailor the makeup for them (from very natural looking, to 'Kardashian-esque' :)), and both the traditional makeup and airbrush turned out perfectly. I got airbrush makeup, which looked so natural (not caked on like others I had trials with), and the makeup lasted all day and night. Joy was literally a JOY to be around. Let me just start by saying that Joy is not only an amazing make-up artist but so sweet as well. She did the make up for two bridesmaids, my mom, and myself at my wedding in June and we all looked amazing! Many of us do not wear makeup every day and didn’t have a lot of guidance for her but she was able to make us look great all on her own. I had my trial run in March and liked how I looked but it didn’t compare to how amazing my make-up came out on the wedding day. She is a miracle worker! She also remembered small chit-chat that we had in March about the wedding and asked me about it on the wedding day. I was really impressed! I cannot recommend her enough!

Joy did the wedding makeup for my tiny little bridal party of me, my sister, my mom, and my niece. Because I got married on a Thursday, I was able to book her on relatively short notice. Which I was thrilled about. Joy was FABULOUS!!! Not only is she an incredible makeup artist, she's a delightful person! Smiling, happy, interacting with us like we were all old friends! We did a trial with her, too, and the entire experience ranks as one of my favorite wedding activities. Her makeup application was flawless, she made us all feel like princesses, and we look wonderful in the pictures. Still don't have the pro pics, but in the snapshots I've seen, we all look amazing! Joy was my makeup artist for my April 27, 2013 wedding. SHE IS AMAZING. Her professionalism, talent, and service is above and beyond. Communication with her is so effortless whether via email, phone, and text… she will always get back to you as soon as possible, which is a huge plus. Joy was absolutely amazing on my wedding day in Johnstown, PA. She arrived on time and ready to go. She did my makeup and my bridesmaid’s eye makeup. She literally made me look and feel like a princess! Everyone was so impressed with her. Everything got kind of crazy towards the last half hour, but you could tell Joy was a professional and so wonderfully patient. My makeup lasted all day and showed up beautifully in all the pictures and video. Throughout the process, she was incredibly sweet and responsive. I was very happy with the services provided by Joy- my make-up looked fantastic, the price was reasonable ( there is a fee for mileage if your location is over the included travel distance but I did not mind paying this as Joy was very clear about it from the start and I know how expensive it is to fill up at the gas station constantly! ) and she was very professional and friendly. I paid extra for the airbrushing and it is definitely worth it!! It didn't even feel like I had make-up on and it stayed on all night :)

Joy did my makeup for my New Years Eve wedding and did such an AWESOME job!!! She also did my mom and sister's makeup and they never looked more beautiful. I got the airbrush while my family used the regular makeup. All 3 of us got comments on how great our makeup looked, and that we looked like glammed up versions of ourselves! We rang in the New Year and kept the party going until 2am and our makeup still looked AMAZING!!!
What I liked the most about Joy was her willingness to listen and do exactly what you wanted, but to also offer suggestions of what she thought would look best. My mom and sister don't usually wear a lot of makeup so they needed some guidance. She explained the products she was using and showed you how to apply it properly. My sister and I actually went out and bought some of the things she used on us after the wedding. Joy used high end makeup and everything was cleaned and sanitized.
She is super friendly and calming on your big day, it felt like a relaxing girls day while we were getting our hair and makeup done. I have already recommended her to many people and if I ever need professional makeup done again I will be calling JOY!!!

Joy did my makeup and the makup of two of my bridesmaids for my wedding at Wisp Resort. She did an AWESOME job! I was so glad that she was able to travel to the Deep Creek Lake, MD area without charging an arm and a leg, because I was having a hard time finding a makeup artist in that area. Joy was perfect!
One bridesmaid and I opted for the airbrush makeup, while another bridesmaid went with traditional makeup. The makeup for all of us looked amazing! My makeup lasted all the way til the end of the night, and Joy even provided a touch up kit in case I needed it during the reception. I actually never ended up needing to use it, but I'm glad she included that just in case! :)
Several guests complimented my makeup throughout the big day, and it looks flawless in the pictures I've seen so far!
I highly recommend Joy for bridal makeup services. She is friendly, flexible, responsive to emails, offers reasonable pricing, and is VERY talented at doing makeup!! Thank you, Joy! :)

I almost cried when I saw myself for the first time after she applied my makeup. I had changed my mind on colorings since our consultation and she took exactly what I described and made it happen on the day. Joy was such a pleasure to work with, and my make-up was exactly what I had envisioned. She was professional, showed up early, listened to what I wanted, and made it happen. The make-up looked gorgeous and lasted all day. She made me feel beautiful on my special day and I would recommend her to anyone!

Joy was awesome to work with! Very pleasant and easy to get along with. She is very professional and her work is perfect. My makeup and my bridesmaid's makeup were absolutely flawless! I would recommend Joy to anyone and will definitely choose her again!

Joy was AMAZING on my wedding day! She made me feel so beautiful and all my girls were very happy with their makeup. Most of us recieved airbrush while my daughter got traditional and they all looked gorgeous. Joy did makeup for 6 of us and had all of us out the door right on time and she was all by herself. All I can say is that I couldnt have felt anymore gorgeous for the most wonderful day of my life and Joy is one of the biggest reasons why I did. Thank you Joy!!!

I was part of the wedding party and was not going to have my make up done for the wedding. Once I saw how great all the other bridesmaids looked, I had to have mine done. They were very accomadating and happy to make time to fit in others who had not signed up initially! My make up looked great all day!

Joy did mine and my four bridesmaids' makeup on my wedding day, and she was fantastic! I have never felt more beautiful (I'm sure the dress and hair helped with this, but the makeup definitely played a huge part!) and I've never seen my girlfriends look more beautiful! Most of us are the type who very rarely wear makeup at all, and we were all worried that our makeup would look too fake, caked on, and that we wouldn't look like ourselves. But Joy did an absolutely amazing job with all of us! On top of her awesome makeup skills, her prices are more than reasonable, she's great to work with, and she comes to you for your trial and on the wedding day. Will definitely recommend her anyone I know getting married in Pittsburgh!

I had the priviledge of having Joy do my make-up for my wedding and i can honestly say that she was one of the best parts of my day! Her work is by far the BEST i have seen in and around the pittsburgh area! She's a pleasure to be around and VERY down to earth! All of the women in my wedding loved her and her work! My husband had some airbrush applied and as much as he didnt want to have it done..in the end he was very thankful that he did! He loved it! The make-up stayed put all night and they photographed perfectly! Before she left she gave me a touch up kit and even tho i didnt really need it because the makeup was flawless it was great to have for those tiny touch ups twords the end of the night! I highly suggest all of you soon to be brides hire this amazing artist. I know she will make any brides day that much better! Thank you so much Joy your amazing!

Hello Future Brides! I hired Joy to professionally airbrush my make up for the big day! She responded to emails quickly and made sure to follow up with me if I got lost if the shuffle of wedding planning. On my special day, she arrived, set up and was completely flexible with all the craziness going on around her!!! She explained every step of her make applying process and was sure to ask for my input with colors, application, etc. Let me tell you how AMAZING she did... I had an outdoor July wedding where the weather was 95 degrees and the humidity made it feel like 106. it was impossible not to sweat. But throughout the pre-wedding photos (all done outside), the "I dos", the dancing, the bouquet toss, the cake cutting... throughtout it all, my make up held up better than i anticipated (considering I'm a very sweaty gal). I felt stunningly beatiful all night long and my professional pictures from 11:00am - 10:00pm came out perfectly -- no shiny face, sweaty make up look, nothing, just flawless beauty. If you are on the fence about whether you should spend the money to get a service like this, i say it is worth every penny and more. You'll love Joy and her services!!! THANKS AGAIN JOY!!! :-)

Joy did an awesome job on my make up for my wedding on September 23. I chose the airbrush option and would definitely recommend it. My make up stayed on all day and looked fresh, even though I had an outside wedding on a humid day.

Joy was also very accomodating and came to where I needed her. She also was willing to do one of bridesmaids fake eyelashes at moments notice. She was very professional and able to work well with all of the craziness going on in a room full of women getting ready for a wedding!

Joy was so great! She did my make-up on my wedding day for me. She also did my maid of honor and bridesmaid! We received compliments all night long. She was very professional, personal, and flexible. We did a trial run a few weeks before and discussed my options and concerns. She gave me advise and many options! My pictures are beautiful! I could not have been happier! We all looked perfect!

Joy did my makeup for a wedding I was in as Maid of Honor last month. She did an amazing job and I absolutely loved the airbrush foundation - worth the extra cost! My makeup stayed on through the end of the night after a lot of dancing! Joy is very friendly, professional and knowledgable about makeup. I would highly recommend her!

Joy traveled to the House we were renting for the wedding in Morgantown, WV to do my makeup. We had done a mock-up a few weeks before so I knew what I looked like in pictures from then and knew what I wanted to change and what I had liked from before. She also saved the day for one of my bridesmad (now sister-in-law) who had spray tan over peeling sunburn problems. It was a bad situation and it couldn't be fixed but Joy disgused it well (SIL didn't have a prior appt with Joy for the day). You couldn't tell in the pictures how bad she was peeling and how uneven in color her skin was. Her airbrush is magic!

Beauty by Joy was one of the best choices I made for my wedding day. Joy was prompt, professional, and proficient. She was able to accommodate to meet all of my needs while maintaining a constant professional manner. Her expertise was demonstrated on my wedding day by arriving ahead of schedule, staying on schedule with each makeup applicaiton, and completing finishing touches before departing. Joy came to my wedding in Jamaica and did my makeup for my wedding. She did a fabulous job and I was so impressed with my makeup. I was worried that my makeup would not last through the Jamaican sun, but it did! My pictures turned out wonderful.

Joy took extra time to do my makeup even though it made her really crunched for time. She was very professional thoughout my whole experience and I would most definatly book her for future events.

I cannot say enough good things about Joy!!! My makeup looked FANTASTIC all day long! I never even had to do a touch-up throughout the day. My bridesmaids looked amazing also. My mom NEVER wears makeup but she had Joy do hers for our wedding and she looked so good....it wasn't "heavy"...just perfect!!! I met joy through a mutual friend and I'm so glad I did. She was flexible and really down to earth. I will continue to use her for any events in the future!!! And I will recommend her to everyone!!!!

Joy was so great from the very start. She came out to my parent’s house, which was a bit of a far drive, the morning of our engagement photos to do my makeup trial. She listened to my ideas and made suggestions, and did an amazing job. On the day of the wedding she was on time, got all set up and got to work with makeup for 3 of us. Her and my BM talked me into the false eyelashes and I have to say I loved them. I did the airbrush makeup and it was perfect throughout the whole day! It was a little pricey but I am SO glad I paid the money to have her do on-location makeup, it was well worth it because she is awesome, so talented, and so easy to work with! I got so many compliments and the makeup looks perfect in our photos!

Had an incredible experience working with Joy for my wedding. She was quick to respond through the entire process which I didn't find to be the case with most other vendors. Not knowing much about what colours are best for my skin tone, I was able to completely rely on her expertise and had an amazing end result. Her and her assistant came to the venue day of and made the entire wedding party look fabulous for a day full of photos. It was truly one of the easiest parts of my wedding planning process. I would highly recommend Joy if you are looking for someone who truly knows how to enhance your natural beauty!
