Joanna was an absolute pleasure to work with. Not only is she incredibly TALENTED (my final look was flawless and my pictures turned out stunning), but she is also responsible, organized, prompt, and just an adorable sweet person overall!
It was so fun to get to know her during my trial and my actual wedding day. She is so easy to talk to and has a very zen and calm demeanor. She made both my mom and my sister-in-law safe and feel super beautiful with their services, and was very gracious when I had more than one visitor come to my hotel suite to say hi before the event. Lastly, she's just an awesome human being. The zipper in my dress was stuck and I started having a panic attack and tears just started coming down, literally 2 mins after she'd already packed up and headed out, Joanna came back and did touch ups for me gracefully, having to partially set up yet again to fix the make up. I'm so thankful for her!
You are in great hands with Joanna! She is a gem and will make you feel and look your absolute best! -

June Wedding
Highly recommend Joanna for wedding hair and makeup!!!!!
We did a trial beforehand, which ended up being super helpful. I was unsure exactly what I wanted and Joanna helped me figure that out! On my wedding day, she made a few adjustments from the trial and absolutely nailed my vision. My hair and makeup were exactly what I had hoped for, and I felt so beautiful and confident all day.
Beyond her talent, she brought such a positive, calming energy to the entire morning. She helped create a relaxed, fun atmosphere while we were getting ready, which made such a difference on what could’ve been a very anxious morning. She also brought a few assistants with her so our entire bridal party was able to get hair and makeup done efficiently without anyone feeling rushed. She crafted a timeline to ensure we could fit everyone in and it went so smoothly.
I truly can’t recommend her enough. Not only is she incredibly skilled, but she’s also kind, professional, organized, and someone you genuinely want by your side on your wedding day. I’m so thankful for Joanna and her team that made my bridal party and I feel amazing and helped make my wedding morning everything I hoped it would be! -

I had such an amazing experience with Joanna! She is very sweet! She did my hair and makeup and did a phenomenal job from start to finish. She truly went above and beyond to make sure everything looked perfect and that I felt confident and beautiful. Joanna was an absolute dream to work with on my wedding day. From the moment we started, she was warm, professional, and incredibly attentive to what I envisioned. She didn’t just do my hair and makeup—she understood me and created a look that felt so natural, elevated, and perfectly aligned with who I am. My family loved her! She worked around my playing toddlers, received and changed the look around when I changed my mind from blush to bronzer. I felt like an absolute queen.
She was flexible, intentional, and worked so seamlessly with the flow of the day. Everything was finished right on time. I had anxiety myself running around doing whatever but was most relaxed in her chair. She worked non stop. Showed up at 6am!!!
When everyone saw me, there were actual tears—and that says everything. I will never forget how she made me feel walking into that moment. Joanna is truly exceptional. -

Joanna was the best part of my entire wedding day and honestly I don’t know what I would’ve done without her ! She had me looking stunning on my big day. I went for Hollywood waves and heavy glam and she went beyond my expectations. She knew exactly what I wanted and delivered. She is so kind and extremely experienced and I feel so lucky that I found her! She answered all my questions and made me feel confident in my choice of choosing her for my big day! 10/10 would recommend. -

Joanna was amazing. I had an early morning ceremony at sand Francisco City hall. So that required getting ready extra Early, which of course isn't easy for a lot of people but she made it happen! I talked to her about how I wanted natural makeup because I didn't want to look like a complete different person on my wedding day and also showed her the exact hair style I wanted. She went above and beyond and made sure that I got exactly what I wanted. I am so glad I picked her to be my makeup artist and hair stylist for my special day, she made me feel so beautiful. -

I booked her for my proposal, engagement, and wedding. She listened to exactly what I wanted. Everything stayed in place all day and night, even my large heavy crown though multiple dips, spins and lifts while dancing. She is so knowledgeable about other things unrelated to hair and makeup and went above and beyond to help is so many ways throughout my wedding! -

This review is long overdue, but it had to be said! Joanna is absolutely phenomenal in every way! She is not only incredibly professional (responsive, extensively trained, punctual, always ensuring a clean and organized set up), but she is also incredibly kind and down to earth. Her confident and calm presence helped calm my nerves during the chaos of getting ready on my big day! Joanna has now done my makeup for several of my major life events - my engagement photos, bridal shower, wedding, and baby shower. I loved how my makeup turned out each time and got several compliments! I would highly recommend Beauty By Joanna to everyone and anyone! -

Wow. Let me just say. If you want to look amazing on your wedding day, you must book Joanna for your wedding day.
My makeup lasted all day from 7am to 12pm. I danced and cried tears of happiness all day in my wedding day and my makeup did not move. It lasted and got so many compliments from everyone. That made me feel so beautiful!
Joanna was so sweet and I enjoyed talking to her while she got my hair and makeup done. She made my nerves at ease. She was open to how I wanted my hair and makeup. And when I was unsure she guided me.
I will definitely be recommending her and will be hiring her again for any special events I have planned in the future. Thank you Joanna for making me feel like a beautiful bride!

Great service
Joanna was amazing. I picked her to do our hair and makeup for my nieces wedding , after an online search. I didnot get to do trials before the wedding as we donot live in San Jose area.
She did great job for all three events.
She is very patient and professional.

Maternity photo shoot makeup
Joanna was the best! She was so professional and I absolutely loved my makeup. She asked me what I normally use on a day to day and made me feel so comfortably throughout the whole process. I wanted something natural but enough to show in the photos and she knew exactly what I wanted. I received so many compliments and it lasted the whole day, well beyond my photoshoot time frame. I loved working with Beauty By Joanna - she did my hair and make up for my wedding day, and it was truly a magical experience. I contacted her a couple of months before our wedding day and she was very thorough with her availability and pricing while also being very knowledgeable in timelines and worked with me directly as I didn't have a wedding planner.
I did a trial for hair and make up and everything was fantastic. She's extremely professional, helpful, and courtesy - She had great products, colors, and everything was very well sanitized and organized. I felt like Joanna was extremely patient and worked with me to nail down my look - was very receptive to feedback and just went above and beyond to ensure that I felt taken care of, and made for being very stress-free.
Joanna was a great listener and attentive to my concerns which she was able to translate into a beautiful look. I highly recommend her and her talents - I feel like you won't be disappointed. My sister also got her hair and make up done by Joanna, and we both got compliments non-stop! If I had to do it all over, wouldn't have changed anything and went with Joanna for my hair and make up - she was wonderful!

Joanna is hands down the best make up artist I have met. She is professional, experienced, and clearly communicates everything. I reached out to her a month before my wedding and she made herself available to do a trial & 3 services on my wedding day! Joanna was extremely helpful with guiding me in the direction I needed when it came to picking my bridal make up. I received so many compliments and my bridesmaids also looked stunning! Best makeup artist
Joanna is very talented and calm/collected. She is reliable and takes her time. She did my makeup beautifully, as well as my bridesmaids. She communicates well and makes sure she knows what you are looking for. I can’t recommend her enough. She made my wedding day easy and stress free. -
