I absolutely love Beautiful Brides! They are so personal and truly care that you find the perfect dress for you in any budget small or large. They have a huge variety of styles and that makes finding your perfect dress that much easier. The staff are such nice people and they take a lot of pride in the work they do. I got to wear my dream dress on the best day ever, and it’s because of their help I found it.Beautiful Brides of Wilmington's reply:

As soon as I walked into the shop, I felt so welcomed and right at home like I had known the mother/daughter duo for awhile. They were so kind to me when I brought in my dress asking if the straps could be altered. Sandra brought my vision to life! I didn’t even know my dress could look that amazing! She had the perfect straps to replace the ones on the dress already that matched flawlessly. When I came back to try the dress on with the straps she had created for the dress, it looked like they had been part of the dress all along! It was seriously perfection. Her eye for detail and alteration was seamless. I really don’t have a single complaint (and that comes from an extremely detail oriented person). They were both so sweet to me and it was the most reasonably priced alteration in the city! I highly recommend brides to shop here for their wedding dresses and more! I also purchased my veil from them and I love it! They were able to create one just how I had pictured and I cannot thank them enough!

User2671088 Sent on 07/02/2016I LOVE MY WEDDING DRESS! Let me start with that. Like any bride-to-be, I tried on probably 10-15 wedding dresses and there was 1 dress I kept going back to. I knew it was "the one". Sandra (the owner) was extremely patient with my family and I, and took the time to tell us about each dress. Sandra ended up making my veil for my wedding and it was absolutely beautiful! The one thing that's neat about the store is that you don't typically see the same dresses every time you go in. I only needed one session to try on dresses before I found my dress, but I continued to go back for fittings and such and would browse the racks and each time there were new dresses more beautiful than the last! Another bonus is that Sandra does all of the alterations in house which is extremely convenient. During my scheduled visits, she always provided me with 100% of her attention and her customer service is wonderful! She is so friendly and very easy to talk to! -

User2346940 Sent on 10/02/2015After attending a couple of "dress shopping" sessions with a few friends at larger corporate as well as local boutiques I was ready to give up. The boutiques that I had previously been to had given me overwhelming anxiety and pressure to purchase gown. I stumbled upon Sandra and Beautiful Brides of Wilmington. Immediately I was calmed and treated like a bride. From start to finish Sandra and her daughter were right there every step of the way. Sandra chatted with me about bridal and non bridal subjects, and completely made me feel at ease! The whole process was perfect and I could have never imagined that my dress could be as beautiful as it was. I dropped a bit of weight after ordering my dress and Sandra fitted it perfectly doing all of the alterations in shop. Not only did she alter the size but she altered the dress so I could make it shorter for my beach ceremony without walking on it all night. Sandra also dyed my shoes to match my wedding colors perfectly and made me a hair piece to die for! I would recommend Beautiful Brides to ANYONE!!!!

I wanted something classy, pretty, something that fit my color scheme, and something that looked great on all of my girls. Sandra's selection of dresses was amazing. She measured the girls and the dresses fit perfectly and looked amazing. I was also excited that she was able to dye my shoes to match my girls dresses. She is patient, kind and honest. Though I had already chosen my dress, I thought her wedding dress selection was very nice as well. She gives a very personal touch to a very special event. -
User2051221 Sent on 02/25/2015I found my wedding dress at Beautiful Brides on my first day of dress shopping. She has lots of variety, youthful, vintage, classic, and modern dresses. I decided to go with the sample she had in stock, which needed major alterations to fit me. In retrospect, I would have ordered the dress in my correct size, but at the time I wanted to take a dress home with me, since I live outside of Wilmington. I brought the dress back months later for alterations. I am very happy with the finished product! The owner has plenty of recommendations, about wedding attire and wedding events in general. I definitely recommend buying wedding attire at a small business instead of a chain (i.e. David's). There is so much more independent stores can do to customize your wedding wear!

Buyer Beware
I originally chose to buy my wedding dress from Beautiful Brides of Wilmington because Sandra seemed very sweet, honest, and genuine.
Early 2020 I chose my dress with her although they had nothing like the picture I showed her and weren't able to order one like the dress I desired. She told me that even if I ordered it that it would need alterations to have the look I was going for. She convinced me that she could have the dress I picked looking similar to the one I wanted.
I asked how much extra that would be and she started telling me what her recommended seamstress would probably charge. I started having second thoughts and she told me that she would make an exception for me but that her daughter was taking over management and didn't want her doing any more of the seamstress work. She told me in front of my sister that she could do it for approximately $75. I paid my down payment and regularly paid for my dress over the next few months. I heard nothing other than the email invoices for my payments. December 2020 o asked how the alterations were going and stated that if they weren't done I understood due to the crazy year with the pandemic. I got a response that she needed me to come back in and try it on again before she could proceed with alterations. I scheduled time to go in Jan 2021. Feb we went in to look at bridesmaid dresses. I placed a down payment on the Bridesmaid dress for my daughter but did not order as Sandra advised to have them all ordered from the same batch for matching g reasons. Alterations still had not begun. I received an email in July that if we were getting married in Nov I needed to order the bridesmaid's dresses as one of my sisters was. Pregnant and not ready to order her dress in Feb.
I meant to respond to that email to let her know plans had changed to a March 2022 wedding date, however, time got away from me. We were in Wilmington sometime in July and were going to stop by, they had moved.
I tried calling later that week and no one answered. At this point, I can't remember if I left a voicemail or not. I have had a few important events that have taken my attention until recently and since I still had not heard anything about my alterations sent an email in response to the July email about the bridesmaid's dresses. I updated her about our plans and that we no longer would need the bridesmaid's dresses. I asked how the alterations were coming and if they were done so I could come to try on and pick up my dress. I received this response:
"Hi Jennifer,
I never got a response when I finished the red custom changes and asked when you could come in. Then when your wedding date came and went we assumed you didn't want it, and the beading and red satin on the back were removed. I would have to have payment upfront if you want it redone or you could pick up the gown and wear it as is.
Please contact us as soon as possible."
I called on my lunch break and explained that I had not received any notification that my dress was ready. She did not provide a date. She let me know that it was good I called because they were about to resale my dress. So after all of this time and paying in full, they were about to not deliver the product to me at all. They have my name phone number email and home address. No phone call was made, no follow-up email since I had not responded etc. At the very least they should have mailed my dress. Instead, their plan was to deliver nothing. When I let her know that I in fact still wanted it and asked how much the alterations would cost to be put back on Sandra let me know it would be $200 in which I asked if the balance for the unordered bridesmaids dress could be applied. She responded that balance had been applied to the alterations that had been removed. I was beyond feeling scammed at this point. I asked what time I could pick the dress up on Saturday. We set an appointment for 10 am. I arrived on time to find the doors locked and no one there. I had to call and message on social media platforms before her daughter arrived. She had me sign the receipt for pick up. Did not provide me a copy. I let her know I needed a copy of the email that was sent notifying me my dress was ready and she waved her hand saying she'd send it later that night. I have yet to receive it or the receipt I requested in the follow-up email that I sent after I arrived home.
I want every bride that is thinking of buying from this business to know how underhanded this business operates. -
User2053494 Sent on 02/27/2015I visited this location in February 2015 and my daughter had a wedding date @ 2/28/15, she was expecting and the baby came early. Like 26 weeks. We forgot wedding, everybody was focused on baby girl and mommy. The owner of the location contacted me and I infirmed her of what had happened, and that the wedding date had been pushed back. Great place, awesome customer service. Going back and will most definately send others.
