Wedding photographer of our dreams

Barclay shot our wedding in Oct. 2022 and from the first time we zoomed with him to the day he delivered our photos he was overwhelmingly organized, kind, and responsive. Barclay perfectly combines the beauty of creativity and spontaneity with the skill of technicality and precision. He listened to both of us and took notes on everything we were looking/hoping for in our pictures and went out of his way to use inclusive language with our non-binary guests. Barclay was a fun presence throughout the day and he made it his priority to keep us laughing and on schedule. We were absolutely stunned by our final gallery and the way he captured each moment so accurately. I could go on and on about how spectacular Barclay is - he exceeded every expectation and I can’t recommend him enough!

Amazing photographer!

Barclay was such a gem to work with for our June wedding. He was passionate and fun and helped all of our guests feel at ease while he snapped photos throughout our event. He helped us to keep the day flowing on time and made us feel so special when he was taking the photos of us as a couple. Once we received our photos back we were seriously blown away by the quality and variety of shots he captured. He could easily charge twice as much for the quality product and service he provides. We look forward to hiring him in the future for our other photography needs. Pick him and you are in for a fun playful and memorable time, he will capture your day better than you could imagine.

The photos--- WOW

I'll just start by saying that what we got blew us away, even having checked out and seen Barclay's work before. You'll understand when you get your photos back.

As far as working with him in the moment he was attentive to our timeline and was present for all the moments we agreed were important to us ahead of time. It was easy to be smiling around his upbeat personality. One of his greatest skills was helping everyone into shots that brought their personalities out.

Mindful of our time he rolled with any requests we had without being obsequious or impolite.

The photos we received were brilliant!

Unbelievable how talented he is

We found Barclay from searching yelp reviews. After meeting him we thought to ourselves this is the guy-He has left such an amazing impression on us after each shoot(Wedding, Maternity, new born, 3 family photo shoots). The approach with his set up and final product is like nothing we’ve seen before. Thank you for all that you do!

A m a z i n g

I first heard of Barclay when one of my best friends arranged for Barclay to shoot their wedding in Duluth, 2017. I briefly perused his online portfolio and Instagram and marveled at his talent and attention to detail. I’ve come to appreciate his relaxed sense of humor intended to alleviate stress and encourage genuine smiles and laughter - booking him for our wedding immediately after securing a venue was an absolute no-brainer. I knew we would work well together and was confident in his ability to capture precious moments on our wedding day.

We got married Sept of 2019 and all I can say is that working with Barclay (again) was amazing. He continued to monitor the likelihood of thunderstorms and routinely provided updates and simple alternatives for me to choose from (while relaying all changes with my event coordinator). Right before our first look, another wedding party crashed our venue and Barclay sprinted up to the bridal suite to check on me and immediately looked for an on-site event coordinator to resolve the issue.

Barclay is helpful, kind, honest, genuine, funny, and an absolute blast to work with.

These photos are intimate art!!

Barclay is THE best!! It’s hard to describe... how he is technical, artful, and natural all at the same time. In preparation for our wedding, Barclay truly got to know us, our “vibe”, our values as a couple. He not only spent time getting very clear on the kinds of family photos we did and did not want, he really “got” us on a subtle and meaningful level. We are SO thrilled with the photos and our family and friends can not get over how stunning and magical they look. In addition I hired Barclay to do my professional photos and his vision, understanding, and again his ability to bring together art, technology, and an organic feel. His presence is also so adaptable that as a photographer he doesn’t stick out in the crowd. He manages to get such intimate photos and I don’t even remember him being there in those moments. Highly recommend! This will be one of the vest decisions you’ll make for your wedding.

Hilarious & Helpful

Barclay is amazingly talented and incredibly fun to work with! He's great at making you feel comfortable and making you laugh! He has such a creative mind and sees incredible potential in the environment to get the most beautiful photos. He did our engagement and wedding photos. We loved having him as our photographer!

Photography was our number one, have to get it right vendor. That being said - we are super happy we went with Barclay! First of all, he is a fun person to be around. He made us feel really comfortable in front of a camera. Second, his photographs are simply amazing! There are so many great shots to choose from we are seriously struggling to pick them. I'm starting to feel like a narcissist putting up so many photos of us on our walls.... but they are so beautiful I can't resist!

Barclay was amazing to work with. We had walked through the day in great detail and on the day of, he was so on top of things I didn't have to worry about anything! He made sure people were where they needed to be, he made children giggle, he read our family perfectly and got them laughing. He was so excited about our wedding and it was infectious. We haven't gotten photos back but I am not worried. I would recommend Barclay to anyone!

If you are looking for a talented, artistic, personable, hard-working, and professional photographer, you must contact Barclay! We were referred to Barclay from a friend and I am so grateful! From our first meeting via a 2 hour Skype session (we were planning our MN wedding from our home in Dallas) we were convinced that he was the photographer for us! His enthusiasm and obvious love for his craft was contagious. He was genuinely excited to work with us which was awesome. He answered all of our questions and was always extremely detailed and patient. He even recommended a videographer for us who we used solely based upon his recommendation. That is how much faith we placed in him! Barclay went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable before the big day and during it! I have a fairly large family and we had 7 flower girls and Barclay took many family photos that I wanted taken with ease! He kept things moving and used every second of his time wisely! I was so impressed with how well he managed all that we asked of him! I had complete confidence in him all day and I am so glad we chose him to be our photographer! His kindness and care for us and our family and friends was so very wonderful! We cannot wait to see our photographs!

We were thrilled with the photos that Barclay took for us on our wedding day! So much color and fun, unique shots - it made it so hard to chose a favorite. We are so thankful that he was able to capture so much and help us re-live our wedding through these images! If I had the chance to do it over again, I would pick Barclay as my wedding photographer, hands down.

Having just recently walked down the aisle, I can assure all "couples to be" of one thing: there is so much you don't know yet. After spending almost 12 months planning our perfect wedding, it was incredible how many timing and logistical things we had never thought through on our day of. One thing we walked away from our wedding thankful for was hiring someone like Barclay who has both the experience and vision to make a wedding look great and feel easy.

I'm writing this review somewhat prematurely as we've yet to see our final photos, but if you've looked at his portfolio you'll know why we aren't concerned at all. What those photos won't convey though is the job Barclay does to get them. Throughout the day I watched him:
- Sweat. Lots. His energy level was at 100% from 10am-10pm.
- Lay down in an intersection, confront security guards, make kids laugh and pin on a boutonnière...all to get that perfect photo.
- Anticipate every photo op (seriously, its like a 6th sense). Cutting the cake? There's Barclay! Bride & Groom passing notes? He's got it. There were so many spontaneous things that came up that we forgot to let him know about before hand and yet he was there to capture each and every one of them.

I can go on and on singing his praises but I'll leave you with this. There are going to be a lot of people and vendors you'll interact with on the day of your wedding. Very likely, you will spend more time with your photographer than all of the rest of them. When you look beyond the stunning photos Barclay impossibly continues to crank out, you'll find someone who will make your roller coaster of a wedding day seem just a little bit easier. Plus, he's a blast to hang out with!

My opinion is that Barclay doesn't charge enough for his service.

My wedding was in MN while my wife and I live in TX. This is a huge hassle in most cases, but Barclay didn't bat an eye and was extremely helpful the entire time.

It's worth mentioning that Barclay's professionalism was frustrating for me at first, because I'd MUCH rather be informal and flippant then stuffy and business-like. I'm a happy guy, and I want to make jokes and chat. Barclay was an awesome person in this respect, because he was very professional and polite until he realized who he was dealing with.

What I'm saying is that Barclay's flexibility makes him an excellent person to work with. This same flexibility comes out in his pictures. Given a certain situation or with certain uncontrollable elements, it takes Barclay less than a minute to asses, position, and take a picture. Some of our pictures ALONE would be worth hundreds of dollars and take tons of preparation and waiting. He is truly gifted in this aspect.

His pictures were great, the set pieces and the candid shots came out terrific, and he likes to offer options for each one. Usually this means changing coloring effects, and for us, it was difficult to choose which one we liked most, there were probably 50 that were our "favorites." That's pretty good, since he gave us something like 1200 pictures.

I would highly recommend Barclay to anyone who is looking for a photographer. Indeed, I've already recommended him to friends/family.

Barclay has been my favorite photographer for years. I first met him when he shot all of my sister's wedding photos and he now does all of their family and some business photos. He was the one for sure thing that I had from day one of my wedding planning that I knew I wanted to be part of my wedding. I refused to have anyone else. His work is so beautiful and always turns out amazing. He meets with you and discusses what kind of photos you want and makes sure he knows how you want the photos to turn out. I suggest him to anyone and everyone that wants high quality, beautiful photos. My photos turned out gorgeous! People can't stop complimenting about them.

Of all of my wonderful vendors, I am most pleased about my choice in photographer, Barclay Horner. From the moment we met at our initial coffee shop consultation, I had good vibes about him. I have family + friends telling me how much they enjoyed his friendly and calming presence throughout the ceremony and reception. He was so receptive to the overall vibe and photography style I was looking for and helped keep the day running and everything on point. He was patient with the craziness of the bridal party to the extra requests from Grandma. I cannot thank him and recommend him more to anyone looking for stellar photography. P.S. Barclay was great in every respect.

In regard to his responsiveness, my sister is on a 6 month wait for hers so 2 months is impressive.

And yes, I was just recommending him to a friend tonight.

That negative review sounds like a complainer to me, and I can't imagine the photos being bad. I mean seriously, look at his website!

I absolutely loved Barclay and he was the only vendor we were 100% satisfied with. He was so friendly and has such a talent for arranging people for photos and getting the most out of your surroundings. He was so flexible and friendly with us and our bridal party. We worked with Barclay through Bella Photography and we absolutely loved him! His personality was a great fit for us and I absolutely love the photographs I�ve seen. He wasn�t afraid to take charge and get down to business, while at the same time he was very receptive to any shots we wanted. He was constantly moving and shooting.

After taking pictures of my dress he went off to scout out locations for photos while we finished getting dressed. So when we were done with the �getting ready� shots he knew exactly where to go and what the lighting would be like. He brought a great lighthearted attitude and was fabulous to work with!

amazing, amazing, amazing. Barclay was the best decision, hands down, about our wedding (other than marrying the groom, of course). Not only did he capture our day in a way we never thought possible, but he is incredibly kind and thoughtful. We now have so many beautiful pictures and memories of our day, and I couldn't be happier.

I can not recommend this photographer enough. He did our engagement pictures as well as our wedding pictures and they are fantastic, creative, and PERFECT. He finds interesting angles, lighting, and can make any venue look compelling and attractive.

He puts all the pictures up on a web site, so it was easy for friends and family to view our pictures, but he also gave us a DVD with all our pictures on it, so we have access to them when not online, as well. His prices are incredibly reasonable, considering how much time he spends on the shoots and in processing the photos.

In addition to the greatness of the final product, Barclay was wonderful to be around. He was a calming presence on our hectic wedding day and he was able to handle some of our more difficult family members. I high recommend him for anyone doing a wedding in the Twin Cities area.

Barclay was wonderful. He met with us several times prior to wedding to gain a better idea of who we were and what we wanted out of our wedding photos. On the day of our wedding, he handled my "freaking out" about things that were going wrong in stride and even helped to provide me with perspective. Everyone our wedding commented about his energy and creativity. Even though I haven't seen any previews, I am sure they will be absolutely wonderful.

My favorite aspects of Barclay included his energy, apparent passion for his work, and creativity. In viewing his portfolio and galleries you will see a lot of diversity and creativity. No two weddings look the same.

Barclay is an amazing photographer, and he did a perfect job with our wedding photos. He's creative and truly cares about what he does.

We got lots of really unique pictures, not just the typical "pose here and smile" sort.

Barclay did a great job capturing our wedding. He is great at capturing all those little moments that you forget about. He was very easy to work with and the quality of his pictures were above and beyond our expectations. We had to wait awhile to get our pictures back, but once we did it was well worth the wait. I would recommend him to anyone that needs pictures taken, even beyond just wedding photos!

Horrible experience. I strongly advise brides to reconsider using Barclay for their wedding photography.

Before the wedding he was great to deal with. I would have given him a high rating. He seemed really motivated and excited to be a part of our day. After the wedding he basically became a different person to deal with.

Actually he wasn't our favorite vendor on the actual day. He could not, after about 6 hours of reminders, remember my husband's name. He called him Paul literally all day. My husband's name is Robert. Initially this was funny. After hours of it... not so much. He also seemed extremely unorganized, although I gave him some slack there because we were shooting in a different city.

Our contract stated that we would have our finished product, pictures and edits, 4 weeks after our wedding. On the night of my wedding as he was leaving I confirmed this. He repeated, 4 weeks.

5 weeks after the wedding we had not heard from him. We finally got an email from him after I posted about my unhappiness on The Knot (no coincidence there.) His email basically said that he was behind and we would not see our pictures for at least another 6 weeks. That's right, 10 weeks after our wedding.

We were understandably upset and told him that we were unhappy that he waited until a week after the initial deadline to contact us about the situation. He apologized and promised it would not happen again. I said "no matter what, if it gets close to the 10 week mark and you aren't going to be ready CALL ME." He promised he would.

6 weeks later and once again we have not heard from him. A week later he returned our calls and said that he was sill behind and now it would be at least another week. We told him again how upset we were that he didn't contact us until after the deadline had passed. It was getting ridiculous at this point.

Another week passes... no pictures and no phone call. We call him again and this time he says he will have our pictures to us by that Wednesday. They showed up the following Monday but.... they were not the edited images. We were told those would not be ready until the first of September.

First of September.... can you guess what's coming? That's right! No pictures and no phone call. At this point I was furious. I felt so deceived and taken advantage of that I wanted nothing further to do with him. (This is why it has taken me so long to get my review up, I didn't want to think about the situation anymore.)

My husband leaves him a message basically telling him we are done dealing with him and that he needs to have our pictures to us, with some sort of partial refund, or we would begin seeking legal damages. Does Barclay return my husband's call? No. He emails me and says he needs a few more weeks. I forwarded the email to my husband and replied to Barclay that he needed to take some freaking responsibility and have the decency to return my husband's call. He finally did.

After 17 weeks we finally received our "final" product along with the requested refund. I put that in parentheses because when we looked at what had taken him all of this time we laughed hysterically. Apparently it takes 17 weeks to make a few bad pictures black and white and add some soft focus. Absolutely ridiculous. We didn't bother complaining because, let's face it, what's the point?

All of this would have been a lot easier to tolerate if two things had happened:

1. He had at any time communicated to us, prior to a deadline, that he was sorry but he needed more time.

2. Were we satisfied with our pictures. I am not. Although it is clear that there are some good ones, the number of pictures missing is kind of ridiculous. There is not one single picture of my bridal party together. Not one of me even in the same picture as the groomsmen. How does that even happen.

Final note: We have our pictures, we have a partial refund, we're done.

I know of at least 3 other brides who dealt with this same situation (or worse.) A good friend of mine has been waiting 10 weeks for her completed pictures.

Save yourself the stress and DO NOT USE HIM!
