Perfect Wedding Caterer!
We opted for a kosher wedding, and I was genuinely nervous that the food might not be up to the same level as non-kosher caterers. Boy, was I wrong! Everyone raved about the food, and there was SO much of it! You would have never been able to tell it was kosher. For butlered hors d’oevres, we had 12 different selections, including pigs in a blanket, baby lamb chops with mint sauce, sesame salmon tartlets, chicken and waffles with maple glaze, mini soup shooters (butternut squash and tomato bisque), and sesame-crusted chicken. Besides that, we had four stations—a sushi station, a mixed grille station with steak, paprika chicken and short ribs, a corned beef carving station, and a cold antipasto and bruschetta station. It was delicious. Steve was very willing to work with us.. I saw that one of the stations offered mini chicken pot pies, so I asked if we could have those as one of our butlered apps instead since my husband LOVES chicken pot pie, and he obliged. They were delicious!
For dinner, guests had a choice between seared rosemary and thyme chicken with potato wedges and roasted asparagus and seared California white bass with teriyaki glaze, fingerling potatoes, and roasted vegetables. My sister’s a vegetarian and got the silent vegetarian option (quinoa-stuffed roasted pepper over spaghetti squash) and said it was fantastic. I’m now obsessed with finding out how they made the fish because it was probably the best fish I’ve ever tasted. Guests were also offered seconds of the entrees, which was a neat feature I’d never seen before. Besides cake (mentioned below), we also had six butlered desserts—fresh fruit kabobs, mini tiramisu, French macarons, mini apple cobblers, s’mores, and brownie lollipops. The food was definitely the star of the wedding, and I guarantee that no one left hungry (also because we had soft pretzels for guests on their way out!). Steve and his team were fantastic to work with and went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. -

Steve was wonderful, patient and accommodating in helping us create a great non-traditional menu. The tasting was awesome! The preparation, organize and presentation were all exceptional. Everyone complimented us on the cocktail hour foods, and the meal. Desserts were delicious. When I told Steve I wanted apple strudel in loving memory of my grandmother, instead of a wedding cake, Steve was able to make it memorable! -

The level of service and quality of food surpassed our expectations and we couldn't have been more thrilled with the outcome. We had very specific and custom requests and Steve and his team went above and beyond to not just accommodate those, but to help create the perfect and most delicious menu. When we first started looking for a kosher caterer, it appeared that our options were limited. We wanted someone a little more upscale, a little more gourmet, then Betty the Caterer and I'm sure I never would have found out about Barclay if a neighbor hadn't casually mentioned them in conversation, which is why I feel compelled to write a review here. Steve's dedication not only to our food, but to helping our entire wedding day run smoothly was unparalleled. Although he is not a glatt kosher caterer, he provided glatt meals to those who requested them in an elegant way -- no shrink-wrapped reminders of airline food at this wedding! If friends called him with kashrut concerns he answered them graciously and explicitly so they knew exactly what their practices are. We served lamb and salmon and both were delicious. I didn't get a taste of dessert, but my friends all said it was superb. Barclay's also provided the wedding cake, which (before I smashed it into my groom's face) was absolutely delicious -- a miracle if you've ever had a parve wedding cake.
Steve was very flexible and helped us pick the best catering options for our affair. He was very professional and a pleasure to work with. Quality comes at a price (about $130 a head) but for your guests to praise your wedding meal as the best they've ever consumed, I think it was worth it.
