Nathaniel and Rissa are the Best!

Nathaniel And Rissa did the photography for my sisters wedding many years ago and they did such an amazing job I knew they were the right photographers when it came to my wedding! I had a much smaller wedding than my sisters so it was just Nathaniel for me, he did an amazing job and I can not wait to see all the shots! I would definitely recommend them! Thank you!

Rissa and Nathaniel made sure to get every single picture I could ever ask for during my wedding! The candids were amazing and the portraits turned out beautiful! They got every single moment captured and didn't get in anyones way while doing it! They were in contact with me all the way up until my wedding day and even afterwards! My photo website was up within 2 weeks and orders are shipped so quickly! Thank you Balance!

Nathaniel and Rissa were wonderful wedding photographers! They really listened to what we wanted and were great about keeping us laughing and having fun the whole time we were taking pictures (photos shoots aren't normally our idea of a good time). We also got engagement photos with them and they came out great. They had lots of different ideas for creative poses and seemed genuinely interested in the quality of our photos. On the wedding day, they were very organized and made sure to get all of the photos that we wanted around the grounds of our venue in the time that we had. Very professional, talented, friendly, and highly recommended!

Balance Photography was amazing at my wedding! I love their organic style. Both Rissa and Nathaniel were excellent at making everyone relaxed at the wedding so our photos don't look stiff and uncomfortable. I also sent about a dozen fun ideas for wedding photos to Rissa and asked that we do just a few if we can - she made sure we did them all! They are very organized and always responded right away to my emails and phone calls, which is great for a busy bride. I highly recommend them for your wedding!

Rissa and Nathaniel were one of the best, if not the best vendors that we had for our wedding. They are super nice, very easy to work with, and put everyone at ease on the day of the wedding. I can't say they are the cheapest photographers out there, but in our experience with all the vendors as a whole, you definitely get what you pay for.

Also, their eco-friendly approach is refreshing and apparently rare in the Baltimore area!

I met Nathaniel when he photographed my best friend's wedding in which I was maid of honor. We spent several days on the English coast for a beautiful destination wedding and Nathaniel was snapping away the entire time. Not only does he have an a natural eye for photography, but he also has a knack for anticipating and capturing the best moments between people. He also has an incredibly fun energy and therefore brings out the best in people. The photos from my best friend's wedding turned out amazing.

So, 2 years later, I hired Nathaniel and Rissa to capture my own wedding reception on New Year's Eve. They did a bang-up job and we love our photos. It's not often that you have guests complimenting you on your wedding photographers during the actual event, but the crowd loved them and the photos reflect that! I would highly recommend Balance Photography to anyone for any type of event. They are professional, thoughtful, amazingly talented and detail-oriented, and just wonderful people to have as part of your big day.

My husband and I are in love with our wedding photos by Rissa and Nathaniel! The photos were exactly what we wanted – natural and spontaneous, capturing true, unbridled emotion on everyone’s faces. The best part was having both of them there to capture the same moments from different perspectives and places. Pre-ceremony, Nathaniel followed the groom and Rissa followed me, so we now have a nice side-by-side album of what we were both doing at the exact same times. They were willing to work with us with any concerns we had, and gave us an album credit just for using some of the eco-friendly vendors they recommended. They limit the number of weddings they do per weekend so that they can give their full, undivided attention to their clients’ special day. Even though we only hired them for a set number of hours, the party went longer than expected and Balance was flexible enough to stay with us as long as we needed them to. They took great care of us before, during, and after the wedding. They are truly talented photographers and beautiful people, and I highly recommend them to all brides and grooms in the area!

Rissa and Nathaniel are so easy to work with. The hubby and I hate having our picture taken, but they made it really fun! They are true professionals and came in and got to work right away. They were also really great about getting a list of "must have" photos from me, and then making sure we got all of them. I would definitely recommend Rissa and Nathaniel to other couples, they were wonderful!

I just saw my daughter's boudoir photographs from Balance Boudoir that I gave her for an engagement giftl WOW! They were a perfect cure for the 'body image" issues that almost any bride experiences. The hair & makeup, photographic and lightning techniques, and touchups made my daughter look and feel beautiful and powerful, yet the pics were so tasteful that she was comfortable showing them to me. Of course, her husband-to-be loved them, too!

Rissa and Nate were amazing. So much fun to work with from the get go. They showed up at our wedding with an additional photographer and an assistant, so there were 4 people taking pictures during the wedding and reception. They were attentive and professional throughout. Such a pleasure to work with. Even the guests liked them. I recommend them so highly. If you have to budget in another area to hire them, it is well worth it!!

How much room do i have to write??? Because I could go on for daysss....balance MADE my wedding day. They are the epitome of the photo journalistic style which was THE most important thing to me -- candid, REAL moments as they happened. Not only do i feel that i made the BEST choice, I actually never dreamed photography could be so incredible. The husband/wife team of Rissa and Nathaniel were perfect for us in every single way -- a young fun loving couple who meshed perfectly into our group of friends and family at our wedding. With their 10+ years experience and sheer TALENT, there was no doubt in my mind that they would cover every moment of my wedding flawlessly, and unobtrusively as well. Nathaniel was so stealthy that i heard my guests refer to him as the "sniper" -- catching every moment as it happened with unbelievable precision. Rissa was with me while i was getting ready with the girls and she fit right in, sharing the excitement and joy of the moment with me. I, as well as my mom and bridesmaids, felt completely at ease with her presence, as she shot every last detail of my jewelry, dresses, flowers, shoes and my entire getting ready process.

After the ceremony, the duo expertly coordinated my family for formals, making it a smooth and painless process. Then when my hubby and I did our romantics, they gave us just enough direction, while letting us have some moments to ourselves, which in turn created the most stunning portraits I have literally EVER seen, anywhere -- magazines included!!! I actually want to submit SO many photos to every bridal magazine i can think of because they are THAT amazing!!!

During the reception, the two were like old friends, mingling through the crowd of guests capturing moments of each and every person who attended my wedding -- without having to say "Hey You! Say Cheese!!" All of the pictures were uploaded to the most user friendly hosting sight i have ever seen -- even my mom and technically un-inclined dad had NO problem viewing them! My friends and family have not only been RAVING about the pictures, but the photographers themselves. I am BEYOND thrilled with balance. Worth every penny!!!!! They will be our photographers for life :-)))

Rissa and Nathaniel were amazing, truly professional, but also a lot of fun. Their experience as photojournalists really enhanced both their shooting styles and the shots that they got. There wasn't anything forced, or cheesy or lame - all of the shots, even the posed ones, were about the venue, the subject, the moment, the smile - You know how people say you will never remember your wedding? I do, not only because it was an amazing day, but because those photos evoke specific memories, specific emotions, and it all comes back. I made the right choice/

Talk about perfection! First of all, besides Rissa & Nathaniel's amazing talents as photgraphers, they're personalities are awesome & caring!! I met a lot of bad photographers that seemed stiff or just not even remotely passionate. Balance is the complete opposite! They are so fun & so helpful from the beginning & planning stages. They worked with our budget which we soo appreciated, because they are worth soo much more! They also helped things run smoothly to get all the traditional pictures we wanted in the short amount of time we had. Everyone was so impressed with them & also had a blast with them throughout the day! I remember some weddings with some very annoying photographers, but Balance is soo good. We just did our thing and when we wanted a picture of something specific, there they were! Brittany who is one of their assistants is also amazing :) All in all, this was one of the best additions to our wedding day, you will NOT go wrong by choosing Balance - they are quite simply, the best :) Thank you!

I'm really happy to see all the stellar reviews for Nathanial and Rissa! All I ever wanted for my wedding day was photo-journalistic style photos, and Balance Photography delivered. We met Nathaniel from Balance at a bridal show, and instantly had a great experience of service and responsiveness. Discussing the details for contracting Balance to travel to our Jamaican destination wedding, including arranging flights, resort, photography packages, and engagement photo options was easy and very pleasureable. Nathaniel and Rissa were professional, quick to respond, honest and just exceptional to plan with.

When it comes to having Balance shoot the wedding, we couldn't be happier. The photography was taken in a photojournalistic style, so many more intimate, important moments were caught on film which would not normally show in "posed" pictures. They were able to mingle and make our families and friends feel at ease. The photo quality was outstanding, and we're still amazed how well they turned out!

My wife and I are so very happy with the quality, value, and experience of the Balance crew! We have already recommended them to family and friends.

Rissa and Nathaniel were absolutely amazing. I always felt comfortable around them and truly beautiful. They always put us first and kept things very organized. They were not pushy or rude. My entire family and wedding party loved them. I feel like they became more like friends than anything else. I am going to use them in the future for other events like pregnancy pictures, baby pictures, boudoir shoots etc. They were a true pleasure to work with and so understanding of our every need. Rissa and Nate are wonderful - to work with, in their professionalism and knowledge, experience and background in photography. Nathaniel and Rissa are simply the best!!! They are truely natural artists. I loved that they are a husband-wife team. It was so important to me to have 2 photographers at our wedding. I wanted to have someone with me and someone with Ryan while we were getting ready! Not only did we have 2 photographers, we also had an assistant, Josie! She was amazing too! It's all the details they just touched on, that I didn't think of! Ryan and I had so much fun working with them! They fit right in with our friends! They were everywhere without being invasive. I honestly felt they were guests at our wedding and not paid to be there. I consider Nathaniel and Rissa to be our friends, they are great!! When we were first engaged, all of our married friends stressed how important our wedding photographer would be. Of course we were nervous, but Nathaniel and Rissa talked us off of more ledges than our spiritual advisor. Their knowledge stretches far beyond photography. Every step of the way, from the cake tasting to mother of the groom gifts, Nathaniel and Rissa had excellent advise and suggestions. They were never pushy or aggressive with their ideas and suggestions. They got to know my husband and I first, then naturally adapted to fit our style.
The day of the wedding, Nathaniel, Rissa, and their assistant arrived at the wedding site dressed professionally and blended seamlessly into our wedding party; so much so that half the pictures they took, I didn't even realize I was being filmed! They were personable and friendly with every member of the wedding party.
If we weren't impressed before, we were completely blown away when we received our pictures. Within a few weeks of the wedding, Nathaniel and Rissa sent us our pictures in a beautiful picture box, with a fine canvas bag, our pictures on CD, and a new IPod Nano loaded with music selections and our pictures. The pictures were not only artistic and stylistic, but intimate and personal. In fact, my twin brother who spent way too much on a "brand name" photographer wants to get re-married just so Balance Photography can shoot his wedding.
There is not enought that I can say about Balance Photography. Seriously, if you are searching for a wedding photographer who will provide you with personal service as well as give you all the bang for your buck, go with Balance Photography. This will be one wedding stress you won't have to worry about.

Rissa and Nathaniel were fantastic! My husband and I were looking for a photographer that we connected with since photographs are such a major part of your wedding day. Upon meeting Rissa and Nathaniel we knew we wanted them to be our photographers. They were very accommodating with our budget and they really listened to what we wanted. Balance Photography is true photojournalism. Many photographers say they are photojournalistic, but we found that upon meeting with many of them they would pose the bride and groom into these so called captured moments; not so with Balance. They were very unobtrusive and wonderful to have around. Our friends and family keep asking us who our photographers were because they liked them so much!

After the wedding I went back to Balance for a shoot called "Glam the Dress" (you can see samples on their website). For this shoot, Rissa and Nathaniel have the bride dress up in her wedding gown one more time and take extravagant pictures. This was so much fun and I highly recommend this shoot to any new bride!

Bottom line is that we couldn't have asked for better photographers!

Rissa of Balance Wedding was all I could hope for in a photographer, especially since I am extremely picky.
She was professional and easy to work with. She blended perfectly into the atmosphere and was very pleasant (i've noticed photographers tend to be somewhat aggressive and too serious). Between me and you she aint bad to look at either.
The photographs were amazing. Her ability to capture awesome candid images and in motion images are very impressive.
I will not hesitate to hire Balance Wedding for my second marriage.

Rissa Miller and Nathaniel Korn are a married team who love what they do and we love that they were OUR documentation of our day. I have only seen some quick slide show of the rehearsal and some snippets from the wedding but what I saw was unlike anything else...I just can't tell you the amount of confidence one can have if this team is taking your pictures....they are fun, not stuffy, not over posed, they are EVERYWHERE....I have never seen such attentive professionals. Rissa came to the rehearsal which allowed her to know the family and the key players, then came to my home as I got ready. She was wonderful, patient and lovely to work with as I was a little nervous! When we arrived to the church Nathaniel greeted me at the door....it was just a great feeling knowing that it was all covered. Nathaniel spent the getting ready time with Angelo and the groomsmen...one of the guys said "he's stealth like you never know where he is going to be next"
What I was truly amazed by is that they were on the dance floor, they were on the floor, they were at every angle but never were they in the way or holding up any moment....
I couldn't imagine having anyone else document such an important day in our lives.

Our wedding pictures turned out amazing, they far exceeded our expectations!! Rissa and Nathaniel have a great spirit and our guests enjoyed their presence. They worked seamlessly within our ceremony and reception and were able to capture every priceless memory without interrupting the events. The end result was in true photo-journalistic form and everything that I asked for, all of the pictures are my favorites! Rissa and Nathaniel share a gift, the ability to capture the emotion in their images that come together and tell a story. You can easily flip through our pictures and imagine watching as the rings were exchanged, listening to the band, or watching the flower girls twirl on the dance floor.

From the beginning, I put all of my trust in Balance with no reservations. I'd seen enough of their work to feel like they would turn out incredible things for my own wedding and I have some very high expectations as I'm a wedding vendor myself. I just got my pictures yesterday and I cannot tell you how happy I am with them. They completely exceeded my expectations beyond what I even imagined to begin with. Their style is TRUE documentary and photojournalistic style and seeing the pictures truly captured the day and all of the moments that I missed because of how fast it went by. I have been to weddings where I noticed the photographer more than I noticed the bride and groom, which to me, takes away from the event. Several of our friends and family, while looking at our wedding photos, commented that they didn't even notice the photographers the day of our wedding, while they were a huge hit with those guests who did get to talk to them. We definitely heard multiple times from our guests, "I really liked the photographers," "You were so lucky to find them," "I had a great conversation with Nathaniel/Rissa" etc. Nathaniel and Rissa were very involved with us before the wedding, taking special care to understand what we envisioned for our wedding photos, and they were able to capture the "feel" of our wedding in a way that still amazes us to this day. They also delivered our prints to us promptly and have remained very helpful with additional prints we have ordered. The entire day of our wedding, they were especially invaluable. As Rissa "shadowed" me, she remained on the periphery, but was available to me whenever I needed ANYTHING! She showed her support in so many ways, and I truly felt more at ease and comfortable on our wedding day just by her calming presence. When I discovered, hours before the wedding, that my cat had been in a fight and had injured her eye, Rissa helped me manage the situation and got some great shots in the process! Rissa and Nathaniel are not only fantastic photographers, they are truly genuine and caring human beings, and those qualities show through in their work. If we could relive our wedding day a million times, Rissa and Nathaniel would be there for every one of them.

My wife and I can't say enough about how happy we were with Nathaniel and Rissa! We were picky about what we wanted--reportage or documentary style photos, instead of endless, static tacky posed shots (though we wanted portraits too)--and interviewed several photographers (and researched dozens) before finding them. They were precisely what we were looking for. And the results are better than we could have hoped--truly classic images that wowed us and our family and friends. They stayed longer than we paid them, for both the rehearsal and the wedding. And they worked with us to create a custom photo package of digital and film photography that met our needs and still fit within our budget. They were straightforward, honest, interested, even inspiring, and really just a pleasure to have aroundtotal professionals but with a friendly edge. Small point, but they also weren't in the way at any time, like so many photogs who block the view of guests or have rapid fire flash going off. We feel lucky to have found them.

Nathaniel and Nerissa are wonderful to work with. They are also incredibly gifted photographers! My husband and I feel like they are one of the greatest gifts we received for our wedding, and they left us with stunning visual memories.

"Your wedding pictures are absolutely stunning!" is a comment my husband and I have heard numerous times since we have received them. That is because Nathaniel and Rissa really captured such emotional moments...from my dad giving me away to my 85 year old grandmother doing the chicken dance. They were so relaxed and let us enjoy our wedding day. I had no concerns at any time of the day about we missed for a picture or if the lighting was right. They took care of all the details. A week after we returned from the honeymoon, the pictures were prepared and we were overwhelmed with how beautiful they had turned out...and they were just the proofs without any touchups! I have and will continue this husband and wife professional team to anyone who is planning their wedding!

WOW!!! Where do I begin? First, Rissa and Nathaniel are true professionals. They not only delivered what they promised, but they also were wonderful to work with. They are down to earth and genuinely care about each of their clients wants and needs. Their photojournalistic style is top class. Their attention to detail and organizational skills put me at ease. I totally loved the photo outline for group shots on the day of my wedding that Rissa requested months before the wedding. I didnt know how important this would be, but it was a great idea. This saved us a lot of precious daylight time since we were married outside and in the early evening.

Can I continue to talk about detail and class? When my husband and I went to pick up our pictures (500+) a week after our honeymoon, we received our pictures in a chic matching photo box and small photo album in an adorable bag!

Everyone loved our wedding pictures. The photos were beyond superbclear, crisp, and fresh. Rissa and Nathaniel captured every quirky, fun, and unexpected moment at our wedding. My husband and I are both very pleased with the finished product. We now have the unbelievable task of choosing which pictures we want for our wedding album.

Nathaniel and Nerissa were absolutely AMAZING. Their photos truly >captured the essence of our wedding ceremony. We were fortunate to have them for our engagement photos, wedding ceremony and reception. They made us, our families and our bridal party comfortable the entire time and had boundless energy and excitement for us. Nerissa (who was with me and
the bridesmaids the entire day) has such an enjoyable and calming manner that she actually relaxed me before the ceremony! Nathaniel took care of the pre-wedding shots with the groom and his groomsmen, which also came out absolutely wonderful. They were truly a joy to work with and went above and beyond my expectations for photographers. When I shared the photographs with my family and friends, they are all amazed by the artistry, creativity and superb quality of their work (and those were just the proofs!). We will definitely be working with them in the future.

We knew that Rissa and Nathaniel would create pictures from our Wedding Day before we even started because we felt an instant connection with them. The most important things you can have from the professionals you work with on your wedding day are communication and trust. Rissa and Nathaniel are likeable, fun, laidback but detail obsessed, have a non-obtrusive way of catching every detail and most of all, they have a creative vision and work very, very hard to make you happy. One constant comment we still get from our guests is about our photographers how awesome, quirky and delightful their company was, especially since they traveled all the way to Florida just for us. Rissa and Nathaniel also did our engagement shoot, which we highly recommend, since you have an opportunity to work with them and get comfortable being in front of a camera, which I know was good practice for my husband. Everyone raved about our engagement shoot photos and we submitted them to all the newspapers for announcements, which looked really good. Rissa and Nathaniel also shared our Rehearsal Dinner with us, which is another pro, since they got to know who was who in prep for the big day, and they also captured precious moments when everyone was relaxed and actually had time to talk, unlike the Wedding Day when everyone is so busy. They actually started out our Wedding day morning while we were getting our hair and makeup done by showing a slide show of the pictures from Rehearsal dinner what a good idea and so awesome! Aside from being really great people and always asking for your input, the actual work that they turn out is truly breathtaking. Rissa and Nathaniel are a talented duo and so professional, they didnt forget a single detail and were always just a cell phone call away and calm, when most the time, Weddings arent. We are so happy with our pictures, I dont know how we will ever be able to pick favorites since there are so many! Everyone told me that waiting for your wedding pictures would take forever, but I have to say this we were not even unpacked from our Honeymoon when Balance Photography had our pictures available online for everyone to view and order, and we had just gotten started on our vacation laundry when Rissa called to let us know we could pick up our pictures anytime we want! Wow! No one believed us when we told them the pictures were ready so soon. Rissa and Nathaniel made that process simple as well, they gave us a beautiful, personalized, organized package with our pictures inside. Thank you to Rissa and Nathaniel for being so great and really going above and beyond. We cant wait to have kids so you can take lots of pictures of them!

Working with Rissa and Nathaniel was a delight from the very beginning. They were wonderful to invite me over and survey their work and talk to them one on one. That way, I would find out if their style and the ideas I had for the wedding agreed. I needed photographs that captured the realness of the moment and the flurry of emotions and events that would be happening, and their style of photography did just that - especially with a VERY shy groom. After a while, I completely forgot they were there too. This was one of the best moments of my life, and I am glad to have had Balance do the pictures. I have received a lot of wonderful reviews from everyone (mother of the groom especially!).

After the wedding, posting all the pictures on the website makes it very easy for everyone to order their own pictures. Its one thing I do not have to worry about. :-) And since we live in a small condo with 2 frisky cats, its nice to have the negatives stored away with them for now. Thank you guys!

If you're looking for a photo-journalistic style of wedding pictures (as opposed to mostly staged), Rissa and Nathaniel are a smart choice! Their pictures showed the story of our whole wedding, not just fragmented pieces. We also appreciated the fact that Rissa and Nathaniel are a husband and wife team who has recently been through the entire wedding process themselves. They could understand and relate to us in a way that other photographers could not. They could also capture the "guy" shots and "girl" shots simultaneously, which both saved time, and made it fun to look at the pictures and say "So, THAT'S what you were doing while I was getting ready!" Overall, I'd definitely recommend them for your wedding day!
