The cake came out beautiful, and all of our guests raved about it! We ordered several sheet cakes for serving guests and a small two-tiered cake for photos. -

Delicious and Beautiful Wedding Cake
Chris from Babycakes was easy to work with online, excellent at communicating, and delivered exactly what we wanted for our wedding cake. The cake was gorgeous, tasted like heaven and received tons of compliments from our guests. We ordered sight (and taste) unseen and were delighted with our choice. My Perfect Wedding Cake

Delicious Cakes!
Everyone always tells you that wedding cakes are expensive and are never worth it, but Babycakes definitely proved this theory wrong. For one, they were extremely reasonably priced, and omg, the cakes were delicious! We opted for a two tier main cake, and two 1/4 sheet cakes. Each cake had a different flavor, including the two tiers, and that alone caused a delighted and excited frenzy of "tasting all of the cakes" at our wedding! We worked with Tania, and she was so sweet and personable. She made the cake ordering experience so easy for us. We went with a simple design for our two tier, but the Babycakes team were able to arrange the flowers we provided. I would definitely recommend, and we will be repeat customers! -

Beautiful wedding cake
I would recommend Baby Cakes to anyone. From the start, Tania was a delight to work with. During our cake tasting appointment, she listened to all our ideas and made them a reality. Our cake turned out just the way I wanted. Wish I had a picture to share on how amazing it looked. -

Best cake I’ve ever had!
Baby Cakes did a amazing job! They really worked with my mom whom set up the entire desert table and made sure it looked exactly how she wanted it. The cake is the best cake I’ve ever had and my guests took home cupcakes home and ate them even after someone sat on them by accident. We got praise by all our guest by how great they tasted! Would hire them again any day!!! -

Beautiful & Delicious!
Tania helped us with coordinating our wedding cake. She was extremely helpful and pleasant to work with.
We had a cake tasting that we were able to schedule at a convenient time for us. It included all of their cake flavors, all of which tasted amazing. We would highly recommend their blood orange and tres leches flavors.
Tania followed up with our order via email the same day and then again a couple weeks before our wedding to confirm. Everything was very straight forward and easy to understand.
My mother is a florist so we planned on doing the flowers ourselves. But Babycakes did the rest of the decorations including a ribbon edge and patterns in the icing.
The cake came out beautiful and was exactly what we expected. We were very happy with our choice, thank you to Tania and the Babycakes team! -

Fantastic!
We had a great experience working with Babycakes for our wedding! My husband and I met at Babycakes in Hillcrest 8 years ago at a happy hour, so it was an easy choice to have them provide the cutting cake and cupcakes for our wedding. The cake tasting was really fun (9 different flavors), and we went with the blood orange for the cutting cake and one of the cupcake flavors. We also chose strawberry, red velvet, black bottom, and marble cupcake flavors. And they even offer vegan cupcakes now! The guests must have enjoyed them because there were no cupcakes left at the end of the night! The cake and cupcakes were beautiful and delicious, they were professional and responsive to emails, and overall just great to work with. I highly recommend them for any special event! -

Absolutely Divine
BabyCakes let us taste 9 different cakes. They were all totally delicious! We chose blood orange for main layers and tiramisu for top layer. Everyone devoured ALL THE CAKE!! Can’t wait to order from BabyCakes for our next occasion - or order one just because!!! -

Me and my husband not only got our cake here but had our wedding on there back patio we are both military and wanted an actual wedding since we had family coming babycakes was amazing we were able to have the ceremony and reception both on the patio we had everything we needed food drinks and of course cake everyone was amazing and accommodating keeping things stocked the food was some of our families favorite the cake kept you wanting more if your looking for a spot to have a small wedding on a small budget i highly recommend babycakes. -

Babycakes was amazing. The cupcakes were fresh and perfect! When I emailed Tonia was always prompt at getting back with us. She listened to our ideas and made suggestions but was never pushy. We ordered over 100 cupcakes and by the end of the night we only had two left! Everyone raved about them. We also had a cutting cake and it worked out perfect! Thank you again babycakes.

Babycakes cupcakes are THE most delicious, fluffy and airy cupcakes you will ever eat. We had vanilla, chocolate and marble cupcakes at our wedding on 6/25/16. They were delivered and set-up at my wedding venue on time. The cupcakes were a hit! Everyone was in love with the marble cupcake and whipped frosting. Babycakes was delicious! My husband and I did a tasting with them because they are contracted through our venue, and they were extremely accommodating and the cake was amazing! We had a tough time choosing which flavors we were going to choose for our wedding cake. We ended up selecting the blood orange, chocolate decadence, and lemon bavarian. On our big day when I walked into the reception and saw our cake, my jaw dropped. It was perfect and exactly what I had pictured it to be. Not to mention how good it was! We did the lemon bavarian for our top tier and we did not regret that decision!!! It was so fresh and moist, with excellent flavor! We can't wait for our one year anniversary to come back and get some more cake!! -

Incredibly happy with this service! Because my husband and I were both on a budget and don't really like desserts all that much, a wedding cake was particularly low on the priority list for us, as we planned out all our vendors. As we discussed the idea more and more, we decided we really liked the idea of cupcakes, as they were less expensive, easy for guests to grab and eat, and if there was any excess- we could easily take it home. I found Babycakes on Wedding Wire, and also had a coworker who had recently married her partner, confirm that this was the place to go. After meeting with Tania (the owner of Babycakes), we knew we had made the right decision. This place not only has cupcakes, they have mini-cupcakes (even better) in a TON of flavors!! We were really excited about the idea of providing our guests with fun, mini-cupcakes in a lot of different flavors! We ended up ordering mini-cupcakes in 5 different flavors for our guests to try out, as well as two larger cupcakes to hold our "high-fiving bride and groom figurines." While I didn't get to try one of the mini-cupcakes, myself (I sadly, only saw them from afar), I heard a bunch of compliments on them from many different people at our reception. We did get to eat our two large cupcakes the next day (thanks to our awesome coordinator for snagging them and boxing them up for us!), and they were delicious. This is also coming from a person who doesn't really do cake, or any dessert for that matter. So just in case my stars aren't reflective enough of how happy we were with this place, let my words do it instead-- this place is incredible, and their service is AMAZING. -

Babycakes provided my gorgeous and delicious wedding cakes!
I like to bake myself, so choosing my baker was an important decision to me. I booked my venue 1st, and went searching for cakes 2nd! My groom and I went to a total of 5 cake tastings and inquired with countless others. Babycakes' prices were reasonable, and we received a discount as they are preferred vendors at Crowne Plaza San Diego.
We had a good consultation appointment with Tania, and she was so helpful and responsive with emails. Very friendly service was received. During the tasting there were only 5 flavors to taste, but that didn't matter as the top three were on that plate! We decided on the blood orange blueberry (my favorite!), tres leches (crowd favorite) and chocolate decadence. No way could I settle for a plain white cake. I really wanted something fruity.
It took me a long time to decide what kind of design I wanted, as I usually work with fondant when I bake. But I knew simplicity and delicious buttercream would be best for our wedding. Through email Tania and I designed the secret groom's cake, which had a golf theme. She maintained the secret throughout the consultation and discussed the fake estimate with my groom and I, then emailed me the real quote. I really appreciated that!
The cakes stayed in beautiful shape throughout the evening, and the cake was moist and so yummy! I highly recommend this company and will return on my anniversary for that blood orange cake!! -

LOOOOVED the service we received from Tania and her team! We were recommended by Ren @ a beautiful wedding and we are so glad we went with them! We had the best experience from start to finish and everyone loved the cake and cupcakes! They decorated it exactly how we wanted to and we could not be happier. It was so yummy! My husband and I enjoyed working with Tania for our wedding cake. We ended up getting a 2 tier cake with buttercream frosting, and a sheet cake to cut costs. We tasted quite a few flavors, and settled on the tiramisu and red velvet. I despise tiramisu but theirs is so light and doesn't have that overbearing coffee flavor. The red velvet was great. We received so many compliments on the look of the cake and the flavor. We are regulars at Babycakes and didn't think twice to use them for our wedding cake. We will definitely return to work with them again. -

We LOVED our wedding brownies. Baby Cakes did a fantastic job custom making the perfect brownies (1/2 peanut butter fudge and 1/2 caramel brownie swirl) for our summer wedding. We knew we wanted something different from a traditional wedding cake, and Baby Cakes offered all that and more for an affordable price. -

I am a regular at Babycakes cafe, so I always knew I liked their cupcakes. There services for my wedding went perfect. When we went for our cake tasting, Tania was very welcoming, nice, helpful and she created a very relaxing appointment. We went with a cupcake tower with a small single round cake topper. On my wedding day, everything arrived on time and tasted and looked AMAZING!! I loved everything about it and it was exactly the way I wished and hoped for! If I have another big or small event, Babycakes would definitely be my preferred choice. -

My fiancé and I met with Tania at Babycakes a few months before our wedding for a cake tasting. We actually went on a Saturday morning and she brought out two huge cups of coffee to go with our "breakfast". Everything tasted amazing so it wasn't easy to choose, but Tania helped us pick two flavors for the two different tiers. When we described the style we were looking for, she pulled up a few photos on her iPad that were exactly what we had in mind. And few days before the wedding, we dropped off little airplants and succulents for our cake, which Babycakes added on beautifully. We loved everything about our experience with Babycakes and would work with them again in a heartbeat! -

Now that the planning, the nerves, and the celebrating is over...I can now find time to appreciate the wedding and the memories. We chose a holiday weekend so our out of town guests could enjoy San Diego and we could gather for Brunch on Monday at Babycakes. Our wedding cake was an absolute masterpiece!! We chose Blood Orange and the Chocolate Decadence to please our big diverse family. We were overwhelmed with rave reviews from our guests about how much they loved the cake! Tonya, our contact was there for us every moment during the process and even shared in a mimosa with her to celebrate our engagement. We will continue ti use Babycakes for all of our birthday cakes and will most likely sneak in for a delicious cupcake from time ti time. Off to our honeymoon next week.... life is good! -

My wife and I ordered a cake from Baby Cakes last year for my son's first birthday. The theme was Monsters Inc, and my wife wanted the cake to be special. So we shopped around, and found Baby Cakes, and I'm being modest but their pastries, and cakes are sensational. We gave them a picture, and a sort of layout that we wanted the cake to look like, and they nailed it. I forgot the gentleman's name, but everything was on point. They worked with us, telling us changes to the design, and the flavor of the cake. The service was sensational. I recommend it, and this is the place were we are going to get every cake from now on. -

Babycakes did an amazing job on our simple yet scrumptious wedding cake!! We had a Red Velvet flavored cake with mint "colored" frosting and it was texturized all over. It was exactly how they said it would look and Tania Doggett was very easy to work with. She gave us all kinds of different options and what the best scenerio would be for us. We wanted a smaller "show"cake and then had a sheet cake for everyone to dig into. It was a HIT! Everyone loved it. YUM!!

Tania and everyone else at babycakes was so easy to work with. They made our wedding cake in May. It was absolutely beautiful! Exactly how we discussed it to be. And it was amazingly good! The cake tasting was so much fun and yummie. We chose marble bianca and blood orange. The blood orange is a must. I highly reccomend them for any of your cake needs or to stop by for some cupcakes! -

INCREDIBLE cupcakes from Babycakes. Our guests were all raving about them!!! Beautiful presentation on a multi tier cupcake stand. And so much cheaper than a cake would have been. I think the cupcakes tasted better too and provided so much variety for our guests (we got 6 different flavors). The cupcakes were beautifully decorated and super moist. I plan to get babycakes for all of my special occasions from now on. -

My wife and I have been attending Babycakes at its opening in Hillcrest. Sent there by a friend, who happened to be the owner, we've been fans ever since. We debated our dessert and cake services not long before our own wedding, before I came up with the idea to just get cupcakes from this company to lessen mess and convenience.
Complete Home Run. From Tania's sales expertise, to the entire Babycakes staff being helpful with recommendations, and God's own Buttercream recipe, we were able to get our cake topper and more than enough cupcakes for the guests. Everyone was blown away by its service and professionalism. HIGHLY recommended. -

I worked with Tania and the service was awesome! I live in PA and was having a destination wedding in San Diego and she made everything so easy and stress free. The cake and mini cupcakes were absolutely amazing! The strawberry shortcake cake was to die for! The 2 gentlemen in the shop when we went in were so friendly and made us feel special as soon as we walked in. I cannot wait to come back to California and order an anniversary cake! -

I ordered cupcakes and a small round cake for my wedding. The cake table presentation at my wedding was gorgeous! My guests loved the cupcakes! I loved the custom bride and groom cupcakes. Babycakes is a favorite of ours - many of our first dates were over a drink and cupcake at their cafe so incorporating their amazing cakes into our wedding just made sense.
We ordered cupcakes and a small cake for us to cut. The cupcakes are pretty large thus a great value and the guests felt like they were getting more - like a piece of cake and not a small cupcake. They were a hit!
Very easy to work with and they delivered. Overall great value and business. -

Our Babycakes wedding cake was delicious!
*Our tasting at Babycakes was great. We sampled a number of different options, all of which were delicious, and went back later for a sample of Tres Leches (which we ended up selecting)
*They were extremely easy to work with. In fact we dropped off ribbon and our cake topper the day before the wedding (we don't live in San Diego)
*They suggested having a sheet cake and a slightly smaller wedding cake to feed all of our guests. This helped us to fit within our budget.
*They make the cake at most the day before so it's extremely moist and fresh.

We tasted three cakes and Babycakes was by far the best value for the quality (if we had a larger cake budget we would have gone with Sweet Cheeks). Tania was great to work with, responsive to emails/follow ups and our cake tasted great and looked perfect. Delivery wasn't included but we added it for $75 which was worth it to us. -

LOVE!!!!! We love babycakes, especially their carrot cake. Really every flavor is outstanding and so moist. The cupcakes are so large, totally worth the price. I get cupcakes and coffee/tea here all the time with my family. Ive also had their amazing cocktails, brunch, lunch and other desserts. I've ordered a few Bday cakes and even got my wedding cake here. They did an amazing job on the cake and let me design it however i wanted. We had 3 tiers and each flavor was incredible. We got carrot cake (of course), chocolate with chocolate mouse and lemon with fresh raspberry sauce! I even had special shimmer lace ribbon I wanted on each teir along with crystals and a monogram and they didn't mind at all. The cake was better than I imagined. Thanks so much Tania for all your help! Cant wait to go back this weekend!
PS their price for wedding cakes is out of this word affordable for what you get. Believe me I shopped around at a ton of bakeries before I contacted babycakes because I thought they would be too $$$ but I was shocked when they were the best price I found and on top of that the best tasting cake. -

Babycakes was our first and only choice in desserts for our wedding. We did 7 6 different flavors of cupcakes and a small cutting cake. They did everything perfectly and everyone LOVED the cakes. The BEST cupcakes ever! We had blood orange with blueberries and a lemon bavarian creme cupcake both with white puffy frosting and yellow edible pearls as our wedding cake. They were beautiful and delicious! Their wedding coordinator Tanya was very easy to work with and our tasting was super fun (and included champagne.) All of my guests still rave about our cupcakes. What an amazing place! We were married in the fall last year of 2012. We had the joy of going to six other cake places. While a lot of them were in in the middle of the pack when it comes to taste and price, Babycakes was the undisputed champion of all of the tastings. It was so much fun creating the cake and working with the team over there. Also designing the cake was so easy with the help of the staff. During the wedding every single person had a piece of cake which is unheard of. I had more then one it was so good. Babycakes is able to work with you and answer your questions and concerns. If you are in the market for a cake for your wedding or special event, you have to choose them! -

My cake was BEAUTIFUL, ahhh I can't get over it! Haha... Babycakes did a great job. Tania met with us for a cake sampling and the three flavors we tasted we fell in love with instantly. Those three flavors became the layers of our cake. One thing we appreciated about Babycakes was that not only was the price really good per serving, but we got 3 flavors for our 3 tiers at no more cost than 1 flavor would have been. Our flavors were blood orange blueberry (I am usually a chocolate fiend but this was my favorite), red velvet raspberry, and chocolate hazelnut. Mmm! The red velvet raspberry was the top tier, so we took that one home for our 1st anniversary, but it's so big that we've been having one piece on each of our monthaversaries. The buttercream frosting and cream cheese layer in between is amazing, and the design they made was creative and beautiful. I have always loved Babycakes cupcakes, so I am really glad they do wedding cakes, too! -

My experience with Babycakes was a good one. We had ordered one small wedding cake and a variety of mini cupcakes at a decent price. Most importantly, the cake and cupcakes were very tasty! Tanya was the person I worked with throughout the wedding-planning process and she was very efficient and professional. However, on this review I rated Babycakes 4 1/2 stars for professionalism because when I returned the cupcake tower the day after my wedding, the person who received it was not very kind to me. Admittedly, we had made a mistake with disassembling the tower when we were not supposed to, but it was an honest mistake and he did not seem very understanding about it. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was having an off-day, but it did tarnish my lasting impression of Babycakes. -

We would definitely recommend Babycakes to anyone looking for delicious options for their wedding cake. We picked three flavors for a three tiered cake. Tres Leche, marble bianca and blood orange. They were all amazing!!! It was put together and decorated just as we wanted. The only thing that made me put a 4 on quality of service instead of a 5 is that I ordered two cupcakes, two different flavors and one had to be gluten-free and when they came they both looked the same on the outside and they weren't labeled in any way so I had no idea which one my sister could eat. Great flavor and cute little bakery as well.

Babycakes made the most delicious cupcakes for our wedding, it was the one thing every guest mentioned to us about our special day. We ordered 135 cupcakes for our wedding, in 3 different flavors. We decided to save money and pick up the cupcakes ourselves the day of. Everything worked out wonderfully. Tania is the one you contact to make all your arrangements. Best cupcakes ever! First they are the largest cupcakes around, they look more like muffins. They are absolutely beautiful. We choose to use the original designs of the cupcakes for our wedding because we loved how each individual flavor had its own look, and most importantly they are absolutely delicious!! When I first found out that the wedding cake included with the Loews and provided through an outside vendor, I was a bit skeptical since I didn’t think it would taste good. When we went out for our cake tasting with Tania, we were surprised by how hard it was for us to choose our favorites. Babycakes San Diego makes such good cakes. All of them are very moist (usually a drawback of wedding cake) and so delicious. Our guests went back for seconds! Also the design was beautifully done, we just picked a design from one of Tania’s hundred’s, told her our color theme and general feel of the wedding and she was able to hit it spot on. I would highly recommend Babycakes for anyone looking for a wedding cake, delicious cupcakes or anything else cake related. We plan to go back and get some for our 1 year anniversary. Also, one of our guests was gluten-free and Tania provided a special chocolate gluten free cupcake JUST for her- it was amazing how accommodating and easy she was to work with. -

I had Babycakes make my wedding cake for my wedding last weekend. I was so disappointed with the cake and their customer service. We went to the tasting with Tania, who was very nice. We decided on two cake flavors that we really liked and after the tasting we were so excited to have our cake made by Babycakes. The communication with Tania was great before the wedding, and each time I specified the cake that I wanted, and was reassured that those were the ones written down. It wasn’t until the day of my wedding, when we cut the cake, we noticed it tasted very different than the one that we ordered. We had ordered the Chocolate Decadence cake, which from the tasting was a chocolate cake with raspberry jam and a chocolate mousse filling. The cake we received was a very plain chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse filling. The cake was very similar to that of a Costco cake. The following day I contacted Babycakes to let them know the situation and Tania referred me to the owner Christopher.
This was perhaps the part that left me the most disappointed. Christopher was unapologetic and simply said that the way that we received the cake the day of our wedding was the way that it comes. He stated that the cake at the tasting probably had too much raspberry, and that instead the raspberry was just a very thin layer to give the cake moisture. None of this was explained at any point leading up to the wedding, and was very different than the cake we tasted. My mother and husband, who were also present at the tasting agreed that the cake we received at our wedding was not the same as the one at the tasting.
I would urge you to think twice about going with Babycakes for your wedding. Your wedding being such a special day, your cake should be exactly what you expect it to be. However sadly, my experience with Babycakes was not a positive one.
