The absolute best

Allison did my bridal hair and I could not be happier with how it turned out!! I did a trial with her but then completely changed my mind and had her do a whole different look day of the wedding. But she was so so kind about it and absolutely nailed the look for me and for my bridesmaids. My hair lasted all night long which is especially impressive since my hair is not good at holding curls. She also was so comforting and kind, and was so much fun to hang out with throughout the getting ready process!! Could not recommend Allison and the Ave42 team more.

Beautiful work!

April (hair) and McKinley (make up) did a fabulous job at my daughter's wedding last weekend!

Ave. 42 was helpful, professional, and communicative from the beginning of our planning. We did a trial with April and McKinley about three months before the wedding and were very happy with the results, but the services on the actual wedding day were even more spectacular.

Both April and McKinley strike the perfect balance between fun and professional. They interacted with us, asked questions, and shared their thoughts and opinions about our requests in a way that was helpful and guided us in making our decisions.

The entire hair and makeup process the day of the wedding flowed perfectly, started and ended when planned, and April and McKinley made us feel pampered and beautiful. None of us wanted "glam" hair or makeup - April and McKinley delivered the classic, clean style we'd requested - we're all different ages, different complexions, different hair lengths, but ALL of our make up and hair turned out AMAZING.

Kudos to Ave. 42, April, and McKinley - thanks for making us beautiful on our special day!

amazing team!!

I have naturally curly hair and never wear makeup, so I was apprehensive about professional hair and makeup altogether. I booked Avenue 42 specifically because of Becky Tash, who had been recommended to me for her work with curly hair. She and the rest of the team went above and beyond, and everyone looked amazing!! Special props to Becky for her bridal hair and make-up -- I changed my mind on some things between the trial and the wedding day, and she absolutely nailed it. It was better than I could have imagined, and I’m grateful to the whole team for their amazing work!

Awesome wedding day hair!

Ariella did my wedding day hair styling, and absolutely nailed it! She worked with my inspiration photos and some pins I wanted to incorporate, and achieved the look I was going for perfectly. She asked lots of questions while she was working to make sure I was happy with every detail. My hair also does not curl easily, but the curls she made stayed put for my entire wedding day, through photos, dancing, and the after party. I highly recommend her and Avenue 42 for wedding hair!

Hair was perfect and stayed all night!

I couldn't have asked for a better hair stylist! From the hair trial to the day of, Jahna did the most incredible job with everybody's hair. She was so calming and cheerful, which made a huge difference as I got a bit nervous the morning of the wedding. She even did a hair trial with my mom, who was unsure about getting her hair done -- needless to say, she loved her hairdo options and was so happy she went. My bridesmaids all were obsessed with their hair and all of ours stayed all night! I felt like such a princess and it was in large part thanks to Avenue 42!

Best hair and makeup team!!

Avenue 42 is amazing- Becky the makeup artist knows how to make you feel glammed up and beautiful and made all my bridesmaids look Stunning as well! Jane did hair and blew us away from our expectations - seeing as me and most of my bridesmaids have naturally curly thick hair- she really did a great job! I would recommend their team to anyone getting married or for any special occasion!

Everyone looked beautiful and we all couldn’t be happier!

I can’t say enough good things about the ladies at Avenue 42. From consultation, to booking, to correspondence, to hair & make up trials and finally to wedding day everything was perfect. I worked with Diane a lot while setting up the booking and the timeline and she was always responsive and able to accommodate every request. Even a week before the wedding, my fiancé’s grandmother asked if she could get her makeup done and without any hesitation, Diane added her to the roster. Jane, Krista and Allison not only kept us on schedule, but made everyone feel special and comfortable. We had a group of 11, ages 9 to 87 getting hair and makeup done and everyone looked amazing! Everyone was so pleased with how they looked on my wedding day, especially when looking back at the pictures. I worked with Jane for my hair and makeup trials as well. She created a look for me that was absolutely perfect, even though I couldn’t really articulate what exactly I wanted. I did the trials in the salon and the ladies traveled to our venue for wedding day. Everyone looked beautiful and we all couldn’t be happier! Definitely recommend the talented ladies at Avenue 42.

Everyone looked stunning

Avenue 42 did my wedding hair and makeup, along with my bridesmaids and mother! I could not have been more pleased with how STUNNING everyone looked! Jane, Krista and Jesika were truly a dream team and were so efficient the day of. You know they are talented when 0 out of 12 picky girls have no complaints and are obsessed with their looks! My sister Allison (also an Ave42 stylist) did my hair in a classic hollywood wave that was so simple and perfect, and Krista knocked my minimalist/glowy makeup look out of the park!

I truly cannot recommend Avenue 42 enough for all of your wedding hair and makeup dreams!!

A great experience!

I was so happy with the work that Avenue 42's three stylists did for my wedding. I had seven bridesmaids, MOB, MOH, SIL, and myself. All had hair done and most had makeup done. Becky, Jane, and Jaynuh were professional, on time, and friendly! Becky did my trial as well, and she was so communicative and helpful with hair pieces and my veil.
My bridesmaids ranged in the hair and makeup styles that they wanted, and these three women hit the mark with every one of them! All of them were happy with how they looked.
What could've been a little stressful with lots of people in one place at our VRBO in Charlottesville was seamless and fun. Would definitely recommend!

Love my hair & makeup team!

Ave 42 made it so seamless and easy to get 13 people ready for our wedding day. I had the pleasure of working with Becky for hair and Jesika for makeup. The trial wasn't stressful and they took many pictures to recreate it on the big day. I actually showed up to getting ready a few minutes late and was pleasantly surprised to find that they were already 100% set up and ready to start working. I am so grateful to them and would recommend to anyone!

Great bridal styling

I was so happy with Ave42 and our stylist Allison! We had 5 women to be styled, and added on one of the bridesmaid's daughters the week before. Diane, the bridal styling coordinator, was very easy to work with and communicative. We had the stylist come to the venue to get everyone's hair done and Allison was so sweet and lovely to work with. Highly recommended!

Great Bridal Stylists!

Jane with Avenue42 was amazing on my wedding day! She was so fun and sweet in the morning to get ready with. Jane was very versatile with her hairstyles and my bridesmaids were all obsessed with their hair. Jane perfected my wedding day updo! I was so concerned that the updo wouldn't hold throughout an outdoor, warm wedding, but I was totally wrong. My hair stayed in ALL NIGHT! Avenue 42 - No Regrets

Natalie and her team are absolutely unreal to work with and surpassed all my expectations. From the trial to the wedding weekend, Natalie and her team were patient, genuine, and executed my vision perfectly.

The bridal party looked absolutely stunning and everyone felt so beautiful. My mother and the groom’s mother were so welcomed and all of the stylists listened to their questions and needs without hesitation. The products were high quality, and they spared no expense in providing me and my group with the best. Natalie even did a last minute airbrush session with my Man of Honor, making him picture perfect with a flawless complexion.

Best of all their new Patterson location is an absolute dream and the staff was super friendly and attentive. Avenue 42 is the best in Richmond and I will absolutely be going back for future events.

Amazing work!!

Ave 42 was great to work with! Allison, Emili, and Breona made a wonderful team. We had 10 people getting both hair and makeup and they were able to get everyone ready in less than 4 hours! We were very impressed by their professionalism, attention to detail, yet staying efficient and on time. I was very nervous because my hair never styles well and makeup does not stay on my face for more than an hour. My hair and makeup lasted the WHOLE DAY! I did not need any touchups. The rest of my party was also very pleased with their services! I would 100% recommend them!

Ave 42 is amazing!

Brandie from Avenue 42 did hair for my wedding and was absolutely amazing! Not only is she kind, encouraging, and easy to talk to, she is extremely talented! She expertly styled my hair, five bridesmaids, and two moms with different types of hair and styles that lasted all night and received many compliments. While I was taking my first look pictures, Brandie even saved the day and sewed one of my bridesmaid's dress that had a broken zipper. She is a wonderful person and stylist and everyone felt so beautiful because of her! I highly recommend Brandie and Avenue 42.

The best in richmond

If you're looking for hair & make up, look no further!! Ave 42 is incredible, not only with their flexible hair prices depending on hair length/style but also their skill! They did an incredible job accommodating all of my bridal party/MOH/MOG with soft and full glam makeup and a variety of hair styles and made everyone look their best! They also could not be nicer or more accommodating - we were a little delayed by the Monument Ave 10k street closures (totally unexpected and out of their control!) and they worked quickly to keep us on schedule despite the delay! I was so happy with my hair & makeup and have never felt more beautiful than on my wedding day!

Lasted all night!!

Kara and Jane did the makeup and hair for myself and my bridal party at the beginning of this month. It had been over two years since my trial (thanks, Covid!) and Jane hadn't been the stylist that we had booked at that time, so I was a little nervous! Both of them were on time, sweet, professional, and everyone looked amazing! I would definitely recommend Avenue 42 if you are looking for bridal hair and makeup! Both my makeup and hair stayed perfectly in place all day and all night!

Beautiful job and a pleasure to work with!

I used Avenue 42 for my hair/makeup for engagement photos, my bridal trial, and my wedding day. They did the hair and makeup for myself, my mother, and all of my bridesmaids. I can’t recommend them enough! Diane made booking really easy. She responded to all of my inquiries with lighting speed— I was always so impressed! On our wedding day, the stylists kept us all on schedule the morning of and did a great job. I was nervous about how it would work having 8 people get their hair and makeup done without running late, but the stylists handled it perfectly.

I especially recommend Meg Sadler for makeup and Jesika for hair. They did my engagement photo hair/makeup, my trial, and my wedding day look. Jesika was so nice and made my hair look amazing. And Meg was incredible to work with because she really listened to what I wanted. She also did my mom and maid of honor’s makeup and they loved her too. She is great at making you look glamorous without feeling overdone, which was really important to me and my mom. If you are someone who doesn’t always wear a ton of makeup, she’s the perfect person to work with because she’ll listen carefully and make you look beautiful while still feeling like yourself!

Amazing team

The best hair and makeup out there!

Avenue 42 was AMAZING to work with! I had 9 total people getting hair and makeup done the morning of my wedding, and Ave 42 suggested we have 3 stylists – one for hair, one for makeup, and one that did both. Jane did my bridal hair and makeup and could not have done a more perfect job. I wanted something soft, romantic, and not too dramatic, and she absolutely delivered. When I went in for my trial she was so helpful talking through my vision, and redid my hair until it was perfect. And it looked even better on the wedding day itself! We had Kara doing makeup and Noelle doing hair for my bridesmaids, and everyone was so thrilled with how they looked. All three ladies were so lovely as well, and made the morning of my wedding so fun and easy. The winds reached up to 40mph during my outdoor ceremony, and everyone still looked flawless afterwards. Highly recommend working with Ave 42 – they are professional, talented, and just all around wonderful.

Long lasting makeup and styling

We are two brides who don't wear a lot of makeup. Krista made us look very natural, but special, for our big day.
Neither of us came in with a plan for exactly what we wanted for hair, but Spencer helped us come up with a style that looked elegant and not overdone.

We All Looked Gorgeous!

This group of makeup artists is wonderful! I had Brittany take care of my bridal party’s make up on my wedding day. She was very sweet. She made my bridesmaids and myself look stunning, fresh faced, and luminous. She even took the time to make a big deal of my sister with special needs – making her feel special and beautiful and just like “one of the girls”. I definitely appreciated that she took the extra effort to make sure I was satisfied with my makeup. I didn’t feel confident in my initial lipstick choice and she didn’t let me leave the chair until I was 100% satisfied. So glad she made me get what I really wanted. The entire team was a pleasure to work with. They made booking and everything really easy. Highly recommend.

Beauty, Grace and the BEST Taste

If you're looking for quality, professionalism, and STUNNING wedding hair and makeup look no further. Avenue 42 came to our venue and provided us with the greatest experience even during a global pandemic. They took great care to clean between each person, and made everyone feel incredibly comfortable. I Felt So Beautiful

My past experiences with getting my hair/makeup done professionally hasn’t been great. I have extremely thing hair, and have always been anxious over that. My hair stylist Ash was up to the challenge! She made me feel so incredibly beautiful—more so than I think I may have ever felt. She was patient and always willing to give her honest opinion. And most importantly—she never gave up on my hair. It looked stunning and I can’t thank her enough.

Krista did my makeup and she was fabulous! She clearly is a seasoned veteran of the makeup worls
D. She did my makeup quickly and provided all over coverage to conceal my freckles without it looking like I was a ghost!!

I loved every minute of my time working with Ave 42. They are not cheap—but I think with great artistry there comes a price. You truly do get what you paid for. Thank you all so much!!!

Best I could have asked for

Noelle and Kara (and the whole team at Ave 42) were absolutely wonderful to work with. They did an amazing job day of, but what was most impressive to me was the lead up. I had multiple trials in the salon and I was always made to feel special/valued. I was not stressed at all before my wedding because I knew I was in the best possible hands. The whole team at the salon is so talented and friendly, I’ll be a client for life and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

If you're on the fence, book them!

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where the bride booked Ave 42, and so they were literally the second vendor I booked after our venue because I knew they'd make my bridal party look and feel amazing on the big day. (Seriously, if you're considering them book them early because they are popular for a reason!) Chloe, Noelle and Kara absolutely crushed it. They arrived on time, made everyone feel at ease, and even finished a bit early so they were able to give some last minute touch ups. My hair and makeup were flawless, and my whole bridal party said they felt beautiful, too.

Almost a year has gone by and I am now finding the time to review all our AMAZING vendors. I’ve been a client of Marissa’s for years, so I was really happy to book her along with Krista and Chloe. Also, I’m thankful that I had a hair and makeup trial prior to the wedding, because it really made the process go much smoother on the wedding day. The stylists came up from Richmond and went right to work with the mothers, bridesmaids, flower girls, and me. They recommended the airbrush and lashes and they made such a difference in the photos. Marissa did such a fantastic updo and it managed to stay pinned in place all night, and Krista did a freaking AWESOME job with my makeup; I was up for almost 42 hours AND I cried and sweat all day and it did not show at all in the photos. At the end of the night, I had to really scrub my face off because that makeup wasn’t going anywhere and I really appreciate that quality of work. ^^ Also, their coordinator, Diane, was really helpful and accommodating in the booking process. Highly recommend!!

They nail it every time!

I visit Avenue 42 on a regular basis for my styling needs, so it was a no-brainer to use their team for hair and makeup for our wedding. This was my third time using them for professional hair and makeup, after our engagement photos and elopement ceremony in December. They do beautiful work and nail it every time. They do a lot of weddings, so their ability to create a perfect style based on venue, clothes, and overall description of vibe and style is really impressive. Day of, they are efficient and professional while also putting everyone at ease. I had a range of bridesmaid ages, hair lengths, and comfort with makeup, and Natalie and Jahna worked with everyone's personal styles to ensure all felt beautiful while being themselves. Do yourself a favor and book them right away - They were so flexible with us when our wedding needed to be rescheduled due to Hurricane Florence and were able to get us on their calendar again within nine months, but knowing their quality and popularity, they book fast!

The Best in the Business

When looking for a vendor for hair and makeup (and all things beauty), look no further than Ave 42. Natalie and Britny (now at Immortal Beloved) are the best in the business! Natalie, who owns the salon is a makeup genius! I wish I could have her as my own private makeup stylist everyday! I have never felt more beautiful than on my wedding day (and the pictures look amazing too), and personally I feel that's worth every penny. Britny is also the queen of hair and made me look better than I had imagined! She also did my hair and makeup for my engagement photos. My entire bridal party, mother, and grandmother were extremely pleased with their services and loved their looks! Our hair and makeup lasted all night!

Best wedding hair and makeup!

Noelle and Brighton did hair and makeup for myself and my bridesmaids the morning of my wedding. We were staying at the Graduate and were able to walk over the Ave 42. They had us set up in the upstairs area which was beautifully open and airy. We were able to relax and lounge around while they worked their magic. Based on our minimal direction (none of us are really girly girls), they gave us all the perfect hair and makeup. My hair stayed in all day and night and survived wind, an outfit change, and a lot of dancing. Our makeup all looked great throughout the day as well. As someone who does not typically wear a lot of make up, it felt very light and natural despite being full coverage. I cannot recommend Noelle and Brighton enough for their skill and sweet personalities!

My Bridesmaids and I were so happy with our hair and makeup!

Noelle and Kara did my hair and makeup and understood exactly what I was envisioning. My bridesmaids and I all looked so natural and everyone's hair looked great! Our hair and makeup lasted all night, even with an entire night of dancing! They traveled to the venue so that my bridesmaids and I could get ready there. They were prompt and had everyone finished with some time to spare! They were so easy to work with, and Diane was very prompt in all of her communication regarding plans and details for the wedding. I would highly recommend Ave 42 to anyone getting married!

Glam Wedding Hair and Make-up

Avenue42 was recommended to me by my planner. I am BEYOND happy we hired them for wedding day glam. Diane was great at coordinating everything - she was very responsive to email and easy to work with. Most importantly though, our stylists were unreal. They are seriously the definition of professional hair and makeup artists. These ladies know what they're doing and do a gorgeous job. Usually, when you go to have your hair done, it never looks like the Pinterest perfect picture you show the stylist....but with Avenue42 it looks BETTER. All of my bridesmaids were raving about how amazing they felt because of the job these ladies did. Britny did both my hair and my make-up and I couldn't have felt more beautiful on my wedding day. Heather did a gorgeous job with all of my bridesmaids' hair and Jen did gorgeous make-up on all the girls as well. They were also so calm, fun, and sweet and I loved having them in the bridal suite with us! I also really admired how they truly worked as a team.

Avenue42 is very pricey - and I didn't love that- BUT I would hire them all over again because they truly are the best at what they do and as they say, you get what you pay for! Do yourself a favor and hire them - you won't regret it.

Avenue 42 did a great job on wedding hair and makeup for me and my bridal party! We had Spencer for hair and Khatera for makeup - I didn’t have a trial with either heading into the wedding since we were coming from out of town, but both were able to create an amazing look from a few pictures and description. The ladies were all also super fun and we had a great time hanging out with them upstairs. Would definitely recommend this salon for hair and makeup!

Sara Rose (hair) and Rikki Hightower (makeup) were absolutely fabulous. The hair and makeup was surreal and did such an amazing job giving everyone a unique and personalized look that accentuated their style. As the bride, I have never felt so beautiful in my life! Rikki's makeup skills are to die for, she is an unbelievable talent and so great to work with. Sara is a genius, didn't need more than a picture of my wedding dress to create the perfect hairstyle and we had so much fun. The bridal suite is a perfect, intimate setting and were able to play our own music and have food/drinks to celebrate the big day. Highly recommend for any event, especially to host parties or groups!

I decided to go with Avenue 42 as our wedding hair stylist after following Heather on Instagram for years. I loved the pictures she posted of the various bridal and bridesmaid hair styling she had done over the years and knew I had to have her for our big day! Once I booked with Heather, I began seeing her at the salon for routine hair maintenance until the wedding. She helped to make sure my hair was the healthiest it could be for my wedding day. On the morning of the wedding, Heather arrived early and was calm, quick, and fun to chat with. She created half-up styles for each of my bridesmaids that highlighted and featured their own personal flair. My girls had many different length and textures of hair, but that did not stop Heather from creating a cohesive look amongst the whole bridal party. I was so happy that each girl was not a clone of the other, but instead was an individual who meshed well with the whole group. When it was my turn, Heather took her time and made sure that my hair was going to hold the whole day. I also had a curled half-up style and she worked to make sure the look would last through our hot July wedding day. I loved that Heather checked in once she’d finished to make sure I was happy with the look. She truly cared about my happiness and wanted me to look my best! Heather worked very quickly, but also very efficiently. She even had time to do some touch ups before her scheduled time was over! I am so appreciative to Heather for being a part of our wedding day. She made me feel like the beautiful bride I wanted to be and was so easy to work with. I would highly recommend her for any of your hair needs!

My bridal party and I had our hair and makeup done at Avenue 42 and I'm so glad we did! The bridal suite upstairs is such a beautiful space! Our hair stylist listened to all our requests and created flattering looks for each of us. Our makeup artist was an absolute god-send. She was so patient and understanding when I had a panic-attack and fixed my makeup after I dried my tears. I cannot recommend this salon enough!

I absolutely loved working with Natalie, Heather, and Britny for my wedding! My best friend suggested I work with them and after looking at their work online I went ahead and booked them even before my trial. I had my trial a month before with Natalie & Heather and I knew they were going to make me feel so beautiful and they didn't disappoint. Every one of my bridesmaids and my mother looked absolutely amazing. Thank you all for everything! I 100% recommend them for anyone who needs hair or makeup in the Richmond area.

Britny from Ave42 did my hair as well as hair for all 6 of my bridesmaids and my mother in law AND did my mother’s makeup. She was perfectly on time and knocked out everyone’s services early— her timing I pretty incredible. She was a calming presence on the day and EVERYONE loved their hair. She really listened to what everyone wanted and worked with natural texture to make each girl look absolutely stunning. She even rolled with the punches when I totally changed what I wanted to do from my bridal trial and made it exactly how I envisioned. Britny is incredible for pulling off effortless looking romantic looks and she totally did here. As a bonus, when I pulled my hair down the day after the wedding for brunch they still looked fab. Can’t recommend Avenue 42 and Britny enough— absolutely worth the splurge!

I loved working with Avenue 42 for my wedding! My wedding was August 5, 2017 and my mom and I did hair and makeup trials in early July. They do charge for trials, but I used it as my bridal portrait day. Noelle and Kara did my hair and makeup and really understood my vision so perfectly. I don't wear much makeup so I was nervous about how she would pull off a look I felt comfortable with, but it was perfect. For the wedding day, my bridesmaids, and my mom and mother-in-law got ready in their bridal suite. It was so beautiful and the pictures there were gorgeous. They had a refrigerator and large counter area for food/beverages. Sara helped with my bridesmaids hair and everyone was really able to pick a style that worked best for their look and budget. I also had bridesmaids that wanted to do their own hair and/or makeup and there was no issue with that. Diane, who handles the booking, was so wonderful to work with in scheduling and was extremely responsive and quickly. I cannot say enough about my experience there!

I was married at the Jefferson Hotel two weeks ago and wish I could have Natalie do my makeup all the time!!! I had my bridal trial with Ave42 and had them also do my bridesmaids hair and makeup as well as my mother's. What a great experience! They came to our suite and were so fast! They started at 11:30 and were done by 2:30 for around 7 women to get hair and makeup done.

They were there promptly and were super helpful with some of the girls who didn't quite know what look they wanted. Aside from everyone's professionalism- the actual makeup product was great! Everyone was pleased with their hair and makeup and looked beautiful! My mom especially, who is not one to indulge in hair and makeup, LOVED the way she looked (and even got fake lashes!).

Lastly, their scheduling coordinator, Diana, was great to work with. I had issues with scheduling a couple of the girls and the numbers kept fluctuating, and Diana was so accommodating- even responding to my panicked emails at night and on the weekends.

Everything was first class from start to finish!

I was so happy with my experience working with Avenue 42 for my wedding! I love that they have a dedicated event coordinator, Diane, who handles all of the details with your contract and getting your date reserved. Diane was really responsive and easy to communicate with. I went to the salon to have my hair and makeup done for my engagement photos, and then again for my hair and makeup trial closer to the wedding. I was impressed with the overall experience and the completed looks both times. On our wedding day, we had four stylists come to us so that we could get ready at our venue. All four were talented, professional, and just great people to be around. They really put us at ease during what could have been a stressful time. We all really enjoyed getting ready, and we even finished up a little ahead of schedule! The completed looks were all beautiful and complimented each girl, but at the same time the overall group looked cohesive. I am so happy that we worked with Avenue 42 and I would book them again for any event in a heartbeat!

Ave 42 was amazing!! Natalie, Heather, and Brittany did a beautiful job doing my entire bridal party's hair + makeup. Ave 42 is simply the best!

Ave 42 provided onsite hair + makeup on my wedding day at Castle Hill Cider. The team was extremely professional and on time. They also did a fantastic job keeping to our timeline of the day so the entire bridal party was ready when the photographer arrived. Ave 42 had 11 women to do hair + makeup for, and they could not have done a better job. My entire bridal party loved their hair and makeup! The hair was gorgeous and the makeup was flawless. I have never felt more beautiful than on my wedding day thanks to Ave 42!

Natalie, the owner of Ave 42, was absolutely amazing. We hired her to stay longer after our ceremony to provide touch-ups. She ended up doing sooo much more than just my makeup. Natalie was by my side during all pre-ceremony photo ops, from bridal party pictures with the girls getting ready to our father-daughter first look. My parents even said they felt like Natalie became part of the family after getting to know her throughout the day. After our ceremony, I felt very weak from not eating enough and my nerves were getting to me. Natalie could have left after the ceremony, but she stayed by my side and continued to hand me snacks and water until I was feeling okay again. She literally went above and beyond to make sure my wedding day was perfect.

Ave 42 is SO much more than a hair + makeup service. They are genuinely excited for you and are just as invested in your wedding day as you are. I highly recommend hiring Ave 42!!

If you want to look absolutely BEAUTIFUL on your wedding day - I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend that you use Avenue 42 Style Studio for your hair and makeup needs!
Not only are all of the stylists phenomenally talented, they are also really lovely people to be around. Spending several hours in their bridle suite with my bridesmaids was really quite relaxing and fun on my big day!! I also have to give a shout out to Noelle and Sonya who took what little description I gave of what I wanted and totally sensed exactly the style I wanted for a beautiful and perfect end result. I literally couldn't have dreamed of more perfect hair and makeup for my wedding day!! Everyone looked gorgeous throughout the whole wedding and reception (even when it dumped rain!!) thanks to Avenue 42 Style Studio!!!!

Avenue 42 is amazing! Britny did the hair for my wedding (bride and bridesmaids) and Natalie did our makeup. Both were so awesome, we all loved our looks! We were even ahead of schedule on the day of the wedding with both hair and makeup!

Diane was so very helpful and responsive in coordinating the appointments too! She answered my silly questions about the day of wedding schedule and assured me that everything would be fine, and it was!

No words can describe how absolutely amazing the team at Avenue 42 is!! From working with the coordinator to doing a consultation (or in my experience 2 bc I changed my mind :-)) to the day of... everything was beyond perfect!! Brit did my hair and makeup and, hands down, I've never felt so beautiful in my entire life (and that even before putting the dress on). She is absolutely amazing and has a talent like nothing I've ever seen before. She also did my 4 bridesmaids' hair, my mother and my aunt (who we squeezed in last minute). Multiple bridesmaids commented that this was the first time they'd ever had their hair done where they actually liked it. One didn't want to go to sleep post wedding bc she was afraid to ruin her hair :-) Sam did all the makeup (except mine). She has such a great eye and knew what would look best on everyone, including making my mother look years' younger!

I was fortunate enough to have a wedding planner recommend Avenue 42, I'm not sure I would have found them if not. Take it from me, you will not be disappointed!!

Ave 42 did my hair & makeup for my wedding in September inclusive of my mom & 6 maids. Everything was absolutely perfect. Marcella, Krista & Brittni were amazing. It was a hurricane going on outside the morning of my wedding and you would've never known. They were so fun and we had the best time with them. Our hair and makeup was phenomenal - all of my girls came to them with pictures and ideas and they made them all come to life beautifully. Let me START by saying, I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy I decided to get my hair and makeup done by Avenue 42. Diane was always quick to respond and answered all of my questions. Not to mention I was paying to have hair and makeup done for 11 including myself!

I didn't actually meet the girls until the day before my wedding - which may sound crazy to some brides... but I knew after stalking their instagram accounts (if you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and get on that) that they were going to be able to execute exactly what I wanted.

The day of my rehearsal dinner my best friend and maid of honor and I showed up for the trial appointment and immediately knew we were going to like these girls. Little did I know after spending a day with them I would want to quit my job, go to hair and makeup school and try to work with them (just kidding, but seriously....). You can tell every single one of them LOVES what they do. They are easy going and sweet and generally just fun to be around.

Fast forward to the next day (WEDDING DAY). All four ladies (Ashlee, Megan, Marcella and Amy) showed up with smiles and ready to get started right on time - and they worked like a well-oiled machine. Literally - they have a process and they know how to get the job done and make sure you're ready on time and looking stunning. I let my bridesmaids choose their own hair and makeup - and every single one of them looked like they could walk a runway when they were finished. It was almost hard to talk to some of them because you were too busy staring at how beautiful they were! They know how to pull out each person's natural beauty and make them feel amazing.

I literally cannot say enough good things about Avenue42. The pricing was very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the products and the outcome. The girls are amazing and so much fun. And most importantly - we all felt and looked extraordinary.

Avenue 42 is simply the best! We used the gorgeous bridal suite for hair and makeup the morning of my wedding on August 6. It was the perfect setting for us to relax and hang out while getting our hair and makeup done. Their Pandora playlist was on point, the suite was comfortable and cool (it was a VERY hot August day), and we were able to bring our own food and drinks in to enjoy. There was plenty of space and comfy chairs for people to sit when they weren’t getting hair or makeup done.
We had four stylists, Ashlee and Marcella for hair and Krista and Amy for makeup, for my seven bridesmaids, two mothers, and myself. All were extremely talented, fun to be around, and kept things moving while ensuring each person’s hair and makeup was done to their liking. They listened to what each girl wanted, offered ideas and suggestions, and executed each style so perfectly.
Ashlee did my hair and did a phenomenal job. I had planned to wear my hair half up and that was the style we went with at my trial, but I decided a week or two before that due to the heat factor I would go completely up. I showed Ashlee some pictures of ideas, and she took it from there. I put my complete trust in her and she didn’t disappoint. The style even held up through the heat and humidity of August, an outdoor trolley ride from the ceremony to the reception site, and lots of dancing throughout the evening. Ashlee’s work speaks for itself and I would highly recommend her for bridal hair.
Krista did my bridal makeup, and I would also highly recommend her. I don’t typically wear much makeup, and Krista helped me to get a very natural, polished look. Booking manager, Diane, was extremely helpful and responsive with any questions I had leading up to the big day. I found pricing very reasonable, and everyone couldn't have been nicer.

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! The only word that comes to mind in working with Avenue 42... I was so pleased with Ashlyn and the team at Avenue 42!! They provided onsite hair and makeup for myself, my bridesmaids, my flower girl and one mother on our wedding day.

Since there aren't many on-site beauty providers in Richmond, Avenue 42 was one of the first I reached out to. I tend to have very sensitive skin, so I was overly cautious and scheduled a "pre-trial" with Ashlyn to make sure that their products and technique would work for me - and let's face it, that I trusted them enough for the wedding day! The pre-trial went awesome. My actual formal trial went awesome. Ashlyn was fabulous!!

On the day of our wedding, we had three stylists - including Ashlyn - and they showed up right on schedule. All three ladies were SO talented! Makeup looked amazing. Hair looked amazing. My girls looked gorgeous!! And if you can believe it, we actually finished hair and makeup for everyone ON TIME - which apparently never happens!!! And the pricing was very reasonable - much more within expectations than another in-town vendor that will rename nameless...

I give an enthusiastic 5-star rating for Avenue 42... Highly recommend!

I used Heather and I could not have been happier. I asked for a more complicated style that required extensions. heather dyed the extensions to give me highlights without me having to highlight my own hair so close to my wedding and did trials until she had my hair just the way I wanted. She is the best. The best part was my hair and that of my mom and attendants looked as good at the end of the night as the beginning of the day and it rained on my wedding day. Also no frizz or flyaways which so many other stylists cant seem to do with up styles. I cant wait to go back to heather for a new hair look now that my wedding is done.

Avenue 42 is ah-mazing! I can't thank them enough for making my entire bridal party so flawless on my wedding day. I had heard great things but they totally blew me away. Natalie gave me a fab tan - she even made me darker after she sprayed my bridesmaids so I would stand out. Ashlee colored my hair before the wedding so it would look perfect with the hairstyle we chose. Sonya worked her magic and threaded every hair off my face and did a beautiful job on my make-up. Avenue 42 is now my salon and I'm always excited for my next appointment. They are so fun and creative yet very professional. You can't go wrong - they're the best!

Megan Barden did a wonderful job on my wedding bridal make up. She also did my mother, sister (maid of honor) and three of my bridesmaids. She was so easy to work with! She let my mom and I do pre-wedding trials since neither of us had ever used air brushing before, we were a little skeptical. The quality of the products she used were perfect. I had my make up on for 12-13 hours and it looks perfect the whole time. She was very flexible as well. Last minute, two of my bridesmaids who had wanted liquid, but saw how awesome the air brushing looked, changed their minds and wanted air brushing. Megan just rolled with it! She was friendly, fun and professional. We showed her pictures of what we wanted and she more than delivered!

I was fortunate to have Natalie as my makeup artist for my wedding day. She did an incredible job, my skin has never looked brighter and my eye make up was just how I wanted it. Natalie also did the make up for all my bridesmaids, mother of the bride, and mother of the groom - everyone was pleased with their make up. We all chose airbrush make up, which looked natural and amazing for over 8 hours.

Not only is Natalie a talented make up artist, but she was very helpful the day of the wedding. She accommodated special make up requests from my bridesmaids and called in a back up hair stylist from Avenue 42 (Marcella) to help out with hair styling for some of my bridesmaids when our other hair stylist (not from Avenue 42) was running out of time. Natalie and Marcella were very fun to work with and added to the cheer and excitement of the day.

Natalie and everyone at Avenue 42 were extremely professional and responsive to my requests. I am so thankful they were able to be part of my special day and I would highly recommend their team.

Megan B. with Avenue 42 did an AMAZING job on my hair and makeup for my big day (9/12/15)! She did a flawless job, literally head to toe since she also did my spray tan, and I really felt beautiful. I had never had false lashes put on before but she reassured me it would make my eyes stand out for pictures, and oh did they! The pictures turned out even more perfect because of her expertise on hair, air brush makeup, lashes, and spray tans. I could not have been happier with my results. Along with doing all of that for me on my wedding day she also was able to do five of my bridesmaid’s hair (some had updos and some had their hair curled), my flower girl, and my mother’s hair. She honestly did an incredible job with such a crunched schedule and multiple heads to style! Megan was literally the shoulder I cried on when I started getting anxious and she was so sweet, supportive, kind, and funny! She is my go to girl for anything beauty now. I 100% recommend Avenue 42 to any soon to be bride and especially to have Megan B. as your hairstylist/make up artist!

The best decision I made in preparation for our wedding day was picking Ave 42 Style Studio for our hair and makeup stylists. The booking process was easy, and the salon staff is reliable and extremely responsive. I booked with Ave 42 about a year in advance and was assigned to Ashlee for hair and Natalie for makeup. I only showed them both one or two pictures for inspiration and the outcome of my hair and makeup was exactly what I had envisioned for my wedding day. They are able to travel to your wedding venue, at little to no cost depending on the location of the venue from their studio. Ashlee and Natalie arrived on time to our wedding venue and I feel incredibly lucky to have been assigned these two outstanding and talented women who made myself and my bridesmaids feel the most beautiful we have ever felt :-) Without a doubt, I highly recommend Ave 42 to brides in the Richmond or Virginia area!

My first experience with Avenue 42 was a few days before my engagement photos. I decided pretty last minute that I wanted to get my makeup done professionally, and went out on a limb and called Avenue 42 because I'd heard great things (even though I fully expected them to be booked up.) Luckily I was able to get an appointment and I'm so glad I did! Natalie did my makeup for my engagement session, and I knew right away I wanted to hire her for my wedding. She was so sweet and personable, yet incredibly calm and relaxed. I loved my makeup, and I ended up booking the following week (about 9 months before my wedding.) Diane was so helpful over the phone and very responsive via e-mail. Natalie and Heather travelled to Charlottesville for my wedding to do hair and makeup for my mom, my bridesmaids, and me. They really listened to everyone's style preferences. Not only did everyone LOVE their hair and makeup, but Heather and Natalie were just fun to be around and made everyone really comfortable. Everyone looked truly amazing (in person, as well as in photos - couldn't have been better!) I would recommend Avenue 42 to any bride looking for first-class treatment... I promise you will look BEAUTIFUL!

Katie (hair) and Rikki (makeup) did the most amazing job ever on the hair and makeup for myself and my wedding party. They met us at our wedding venue and helped us to all get ready there. I met with both of them before the wedding for a trial run and both of them spent a long time talking to me about the vibe of the wedding, the look I was going for, and what my dress looked like to help me come up with the perfect hair and makeup combination. I am so glad that my wedding planner so strongly recommended Natalie and Heather to provide beauty services for my Blacksburg wedding. They are amazing! My bridesmaids and I absolutely loved getting ready at Ave 42. I rented out the upstairs bridal suite and had so much fun. My bridesmaids couldn't believe how much space we had. At one point we had 17 people in the suite and it still felt like we had plenty of space. Ave 42 kept ahead of schedule and we finished 30 minutes early. My wedding was at The Jefferson so once we were ready we were able to walk 1 block to the ceremony. It was perfect! Natalie and her team did such an amazing job, each girl loved their look. I also worked with Natalie to have eyelash extensions done a couple days before the wedding. During my trial I realized the glue on eyelashes weren't for me and she offered the extensions as a solution. I can't tell you how many compliments I received on my eyelashes. I don't know what I would have done without Natalie's recommendation. It enhanced my entire look and made me so comfortable for the wedding. Also, Heather did an amazing job with my hair. She really brought my vision to life and surpassed all expectations.

Natalie and Heather from Ave42 are some of the best. I've had previous experience getting hair and makeup professionally done and they exceeded all of my past experience and expectations for my wedding day, by far. Natalie has such a calming presence and even touched up a pedicure I had messed up on the morning of. And Heather is so fun and understood my vision for what I wanted for my hair and delivered above and beyond what I had hoped. We got ready in their studio that morning with all of my bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom and it was such a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere. The light in there is amazing so the pictures from that time are beautiful; plus we got to relax and enjoy each other's company while getting pampered - what is better? I love Ave42 and would definitely recommend them to any friends of mine getting married soon. They are reasonable with their pricing and their services are incredible.

I don't even know how to thank/ recommend Avenue 42 enough! I feel like I spent half the week there before my wedding, and they did an amazing job! From the mani/pedi to the day of makeup, Avenue 42 nailed it (pun slightly intended). My bridesmaids and I chose to get ready in the bridal suite at Avenue 42 and it was so much fun! Super girly with pink walls and chandeliers - totally the perfect scene. Meriel did our hair and Natalie did our makeup and we got complements all night long! I don't think I've ever felt so pretty! Avenue 42 was awesome for my wedding this fall. They were super flexible with me as an out of town bride and even came on location to our hotel suite to do hair and makeup for me and my bridesmaids. They were so much fun to have in the suite. Ashlyn did a fantastic job listening to me but still giving me what she knew would look the best. My makeup was flawless, came out amazing in photos, and stayed in place all day and all night (even through a LOT of dancing!). Heather's hair skills are just out of control. So on point. Every bridesmaid's hair looked architectural and amazing but still effortless and natural. She was so fast and she gave every girl exactly what they were looking for only BETTER! My hair was exactly how I wanted it and I felt like a beautiful bride. Everyone looked very natural and beautiful and I couldn't have been happier. I highly recommend Avenue 42!

From helping to coordinate wedding hair and makeup for me and 12 members of my bridal party from halfway across the country, to a fantastic experience in studio and on site, these women work wonders! They make you feel comfortable and beautiful, like friends you haven't seen in a while. We had all types of hair textures, lengths, and skin complexions... No problem! Avenue 42 is by far the BEST salon in Richmond, VA! These women are so talented and chic you will walk out feeling confident and beautiful. I am very critical when it comes to my hair, make-up, etc. but these lovely ladies know what they're doing, I have been going to Welsy to have my hair colored for months so it was an easy choice when it came to my wedding as to who I would book with. Even though my experience with AVE 42 has been hair coloring I completely trusted them when it came to my bridal make-up and up-do and I was blown away by how beautiful everything looked. I also love that AVE 42 will travel to on-location or there is plenty of room in their gorgeous salon for a bridal party. AVE 42 is like a one stop beauty stop, before my wedding I had a spray tan, brows waxed, hair colored, and of course my make-up airbrushed and hair styled for my wedding. I recommend these talented stylist to anyone, I guarantee you will look stunning!

I researched this place online and this place appeared to have the best reviews. Also, their prices were much more affordable than the other price quotes I got for traveling to my venue and doing my hair/ makeup!
I do not wear makeup often and I am not an expert on how to put on makeup. Megan, my makeup and hair artist did a great job making me look natural but also accentuated the features I do have on my face.
I had an idea of what I wanted for my hair, thanks to Pintrest. Megan, knew what she was doing and added some of her own recommendations!

We looked gorgeous!

Hair and Makeup was really important to me, I wanted to look natural for my wedding while still getting dolled up. I also decided that I wanted a ponytail as my bridal look. Noelle did a fantastic job with my hair, it was gorgeous, subtle and flowing with the right amount of structure. Kara did an amazing job on my makeup, it was honestly stunning. Jane did amazing makeup and hair. My entire bridal party looked and felt amazing! Highly recommend!!

I don't even know where to begin with this talented group of ladies! My group and I took advantage of the bridal suite which I would highly recommend. We were able to bring in outside food/drinks to enjoy while we got ready. I did a trial for both hair and makeup and no changes were made. Everyone in my group was so pleased at how they turned out. This group does such amazing work!

Sonya did my wedding makeup as well as that of my mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and Maid of Honor, and she was wonderful with everyone. She was also able to come to my venue, which was so relaxing to be able to stay in one place on the day-of!

I went in for a makeup trial with her a few months before the wedding, and she was very sweet and flexible. Came in with a few photos of what I liked and she was able to grasp the concept very quickly. My family members were also very happy with her work, and everyone looks great in the photos!

I also worked with Diane to book Sonya, and she was wonderful to work with as well! Very professional and was happy to answer all the questions I had (especially since I don't know much about makeup in general!)

Highly recommend Ave 42 to any bride and her wedding party : ) Thank you ladies!!

My bridesmaids and I had a great experience with all the girls at Avenue 42. Our hair and makeup were exactly as we envisioned them and when we called in a panic a few days before the wedding to get spray tans, they fit us in the same day! The only downside was that the services were expensive, but we all looked amazing! We had a bridal suite upstairs and were able to get ready at the salon--we brought in brunch and mimosas and had a nice relaxing morning before the wedding.

Beautiful Hair!

I booked Avenue 42 for my July Wedding. I was looking for a vendor that would be able to come onsite as we would be getting ready at the venue. Most hair vendors in Richmond were similar in cost, but I chose Avenue 42 because they had the most flexible pricing for wedding party attendants based on what kind of style they were getting. Diane the booking person was very responsive and easy to work with! She always answered questions when needed. Jane did my hair and she is AMAZING at what she does! When I went for my trial, I showed her a few pictures from Pinterest and explained my vision and she delivered better than I could have expected. I felt like my hair was right out of Pinterest it was so beautiful! And it looked just as amazing on the wedding day. The few people in my party who also got their hair done also thought Jane did an amazing job! The only thing that was different for this vendor from my other vendors was that this is the only vendor I booked that was a business and not an independent person, and I could definitely tell that had a little bit of a different feel to it since it was less personalized and individual and more just like another transaction, but it is okay because it got the job done. So if you are looking to feel like you are getting individual, personalized service, that is the only downside, but they did a great job and made our hair dreams come true!

I want to say THANK YOU to Ave 42 but especially to my personal stylist on my wedding day, Noelle Eastwood. She was amazing! She came to my wedding venue and styled my hair and others in my wedding party and family. She made the day so fun and just blew me out of the water by her talent to style hair. I have enjoyed getting to know her through out my wedding planning that I have switched salons and now have my hair colored and styled at Ave 42. They are awesome and so nice! Thank you Noelle!!!!

Avenue 42 was a delight to deal with. Diane, Avenue 42's booking manager, is phenomenal; she helped me think though the amount of time everything would take and make adjustments to the number of treatments we needed. Both Krista and Spencer were great!! I loved my makeup and hair; both Spencer and Krista were available to do trials ahead of time to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. The only snag was that there was some miscommunication about how many appointments were actually scheduled for makeup but luckily Krista was beyond accommodating. A truly great option for on site wedding hair and makeup!

I used Avenue 42 for both my hair and makeup and I was very pleased with how both turned out. I truly did feel beautiful on my wedding day! When it came to hair I really didn't know exactly what I wanted to do so Sarah worked with me and came up with something I really liked. Diane handled the booking of all my appointments and she made the process very easy by e-mailing me so that I could keep track of everything. Krista did my makeup and she was great! (Um, can she do my makeup everyday?) I came to the studio the morning of my wedding and the whole process was just very relaxing, which I enjoyed. They made sure that I was happy with how everything looked before I left and taught me how to touch up my makeup throughout the day, how to put my veil on and take it off, etc. Overall, great experience - they are good at what they do!

As a bride, I had my wedding hair and makeup done at Ave 42. I went a trial run and was super happy with everything. When I arrived the morning of my wedding, the make up artist showed up late so I had to wait outside until she arrived in a near panic. I never received a confirmation phone call the day before so I was worried they were not going to show up at all. I thought my makeup looked good, but when I got home, my photographer said that my makeup was way too muted and would not show up in pictures so I had to add blush and bronzer. For my hair, I found out that day the girl who did it during my trial no longer worked there so thank goodness I took pictures of my hair during the trial. She did a good job all things considered. Luckily, they were done with my hair and makeup on time even though they started late.

Great stylists and make-up artists! Beautiful, laid-back and fun little studio! The only downside is that they are a bit too expensive and the make-up artist ended up putting a little too much make-up on even when you tell her to go more "natural."
