When browsing for DJs for our wedding I was focused on two things: a DJ who could get people dancing for the whole reception and good value for the money. Scott came out on top and he exceeded every hope. He was very communicative through the planning process and made sure he understood the timeline and requests plus his rate was fair and for the entire event rather than one price to start then another when the hours you actually need are added. The wedding itself is where he really shined and I'd be doing the awesome service he provided us a disservice by not acknowledging how pivotal he was to making our wedding not just the best night of our lives but also the most fun. The technical aspects such as light, sound quality, and mics were all fantastic top notch professional equipment but the man behind it all was the driving force. We made a few specific requests but did not micromanaged and just asked him to get our friends on the dance floor the best he could; he's the professional after all. From the very first song to the last dance Scott kept everyone in the crowd engaged with a wide variety of great music. I'm not exaggerating when I say there wasn't a single moment when the floor was empty. He perfectly chained songs together for 4 hours to make our wedding the dance party we wanted. I can't say enough about his skills and will be forever grateful we picked him for our wedding. Aside from the best song selection he's also personable, great at sticking to your timeline/MCing, and a ton of fun. Hiring Avalanche was some of the best money I've ever spent in my life, not just my wedding. I can't emphasize enough how all around great the experience was and hope everyone who reads this will consider him. I've heaped a lot of praise into this review but the last thing I want to add is my new wife I are brainstorming excuses for a party to hire him again. Do yourself and your guests a favor and hire Avalanche!

Scott was amazing to work with! He puts a lot of care into providing the best experience that he can for all couples. Not only was he very responsive, but his attention to detail in regards to timelines and music preferences is amazing. Scott did everything he could to make sure that his part in our wedding was as stress-free and seamless as possible. There was never a time when we were worried that he wasn't going to hold up his deal of the contract with great quality!

DJ Scott Ely was so worth it! He had one of the most competitive prices for the services he offered. We enjoyed his DJ and dance floor lights package and his MirrorMe photo booth. Neither disappointed! We danced the night away - even Granny boogied. The dance floor stayed packed and everyone loved the photo booth! Karen kept the photo booth running smoothly and she even helped me untangle a prop scarf from my suit. DJ Scott worked well with the other vendors, such as the photographer and videographer, to adjust his lighting. Julia and I would whole heartedly recommend DJ Scott at Avalanche Sound & Lights for anyone's Big Day!

Scott Ely was highly recommended to me for my daughters wedding. I am so happy we booked him. He was always very responsive and organized throughout the planning process. He sent a form for is to complete that was thorough and allowed him to obtain all the necessary info. He then met with them fo discuss all aspects of music for ceremony and reception. He knew exactly what they wanted and the vibe they were going for and made it happen! He was great and reading the crowd and making sure everyone had a great time. The details! Little and big!
I’m am in shock and awe by the professionalism and kindness. We had the DJ set up (it had all the lights, bells, & whistles) and the state of the art photo booth. The images were customizable and so clear! Not your average Photo Booth standards!! The duo that ran both were SO friendly, helpful, & fun. They accommodated every request at DJ booth and had more than enough props at Photo Booth to keep our group laughing and engaged. They came and set up on time, never got in the way or caused issue, and even helped us with our last minute decorations. Book them! I PROMISE everyone at your event will have a blast!

Sweet 16 surprises birthday party

The business Scott and Lisa have built is 5 stars across the board. They made this process so easy from start to finish and will go the extra mile for any bride and groom, I am forever thankful to have them apart of our special day! From the start we faced some challenges due to my ceremony being outside with no power and my reception inside. Scott immediately eased my mind and went the extra mile to make sure our outside ceremony would have everything we wanted and hooked up a generator to make sure all of our needs were met and to include the thought of making sure the generator was a proper length away so there was no noise disrupting the ceremony. Any bride especially ones who are just starting to plan will know all the worries and what ifs that come along with the big day, with Scott and Lisa you do not have to worry because they are prepared for ANYTHING! Hands down we could not have received better service than what Scott and Lisa provided us with.They truly care for there clients and want to help make your day as special as possible not to mention they know how to work a crowd and there set up sounds amazing!

What an amazing night!

Our Daughter’s Wedding
We choose the Love lights and Mirror me Photo Booth with our DJ package. The Love letters were a great lighting addition and photo backdrop. All of our guest raved about the mirror me Photo Booth and Lisa’s beautiful and welcoming personality readily available to assist in making every photo your absolute favorite and getting our guest to participate! Scott kept the dance floor occupied and it was the perfect scene sitting back watching and celebrating such a beautiful occasion. Both Scott and Lisa were top notch both professionally and personally! They raised the bar in helping me to make this day special for our girl and truly were phenomenal! Such a laid back and smooth sailing transaction for an otherwise stressful planning event! They made it so easy to do business with them and walk away loving them! After struggling to find a DJ who 1) was flexible, affordable, and had various offerings and 2) was in the state we were getting married, I decided to expand my search and came across Scott. Not only was he more than willing to travel to our wedding site (for a very reasonable fee), but he had several add on’s (we chose the LOVE letters) and was incredibly accommodating and communicative. We had a pretty untraditional ceremony and reception, but the whole thing went off without a hitch, thanks to Scott. We had a smaller wedding, and we still had people on the dance floor all night. I could not recommend hiring Avalanche Sound and Lights enough. Best decision we made!!

I met DJ Scott when he was at a previous wedding and since I heard so many great things, I decided to book him a year later! Scott went above and beyond expectations. From the first interaction up until the wedding, he was very professional and willing to problem solve, especially when trying to find a way to get music to our ceremony space that was in the middle of an open area and not near a building/electrical outlets. Great Choice
We were so happy with Scott and Lisa at our son and daughter in law’s wedding.
They really went above and beyond to make the wedding unique by their choices of music. They are a warm and caring couple.
They arrived early and even came a day before to check out the venue.
They were flexible when they needed to move their equipment to an alternate location due to the weather.
The icing on the cake is when Scott helped blow off flying leaves on the dance floor under our tent wedding to help us during the rain and wind. Lisa created a flower arrangement to add to the decor before the festivities began with our additional flowers.
You know they are great when everyone dances!
They are very special!

Wayne Preparatory Academy 2023 Prom
We had an excellent experience with Avalanche Sound and Lights for our junior/senior prom on May 6, 2023. Scott was easy to communicate with, very responsive, showed up on time, and put on a great show. Sometimes it can be tricky to please teenagers with music at events like this, but even our students were happy with our choice of DJs. The photo booth was a huge hit and the pictures were great quality. We will definitely book Scott again, and have no reservations about highly recommending him to anyone for any type of function. If he can make 16-18 years olds happy, he can make anyone happy!

If you want someone who is going to above and beyond, and personalize to what you want, look no further. Scott was was organized, communicative and thorough. The photo-booth was exciting and had lots of elements. Our ceremony music went off without a glitch, and our reception dance floor stayed full. Perfect Day!!
Scott and Lisa were absolutely amazing! They came through for us when we decided to put a wedding together in under 60 days and worked to fit us in!! Their communication and desire to plan the music choices with us were above and beyond so that the ceremony and reception went smoothly and everyone on the dance floor had fun. They are such a loving and personable couple so having them as part of your wedding day is a must! We will continue to recommend them just as their services were recommended to us!

Photo Booth Fun Crowd Pleaser!
We hired Avalanche Sound & Light to have a photo booth at our New Years Event with approx 350 partygoers. We wanted to provide something to make the event fun and memorable. It was a smash hit and crowd pleaser for sure...every one loved it. Even more important was the quality of the experience...the welcoming and fun demeanor of the staff and great pictures....all worked as expected without a hitch. Highly recommend.

Fabulous DJ
As a wedding planner, the DJ is vital to the success of the ceremony and reception! My experience with Avalanche Sound was truly wonderful! Everything from our initial phone call, music preview, and the wedding itself was top notch! DJ Scott and Lisa were the "dream team" and I knew that I was in good hands and most importantly, my couple was! Avalanche Sound was amazing to work with. I am a wedding planner in North Carolina, owner of Wedding Planning NC. They were timely, super friendly and organized. Scott and Lisa were both very helpful in keeping the timeline of our event, as well as flexible to a few changes that popped up last minute. We worked well together ensuring the processional went off exactly as the Bride had intended! The dance floor was packed from the first song to the last song... in fact I don't think anyone was technically ready to leave:) GREAT team and I would not hesitate to recommend them to any of my future clients.

DJ Scott from Avalanche Sound and Lights is by far the best DJ you could possibly book for your wedding. Throughout the planning process , he was constantly communicating with my wife and I making sure to meet every expectation. Our wedding had a few blips, and some things didn't go quite according to plan. He was quick to help rearrange the order of some events on the fly, and everything still ended up running smoothly. He swooped in and saved the day by providing his own generators since my venue was out of power due to the hurricane. He was so easy to work and was so accommodating. DJ saves the wedding after hurricane!
What an amazing fun night we had thanks to the LIGHTS and sound of Scott! When I say lights I mean when the venue lost power he swooped in like superman with 3 generators lit the way for our guests and powered us through the ceremony!!! Now that is saving the day!! Great Vendor Experience!
My team and I had the opportunity to work with DJ Scott and his wife, Lisa, this past weekend at Twin Oaks Barn in Garner, NC - what a fantastic couple! DJ Scott was kind, professional, and detailed throughout the planning process, even working with the groom's father to create a set during dinner (he sang opera!). Avalanche Sound & Lights were also very flexible, due to weather concerns, the ceremony was moved indoors and they handled the switch incredibly! Should it have been outside, they have additional speakers to set up for ceremony and a high quality bluetooth speaker for the outdoor patio cocktail hour. The reception set up was fantastic and had ample lighting for the dance floor. We look forward to working with DJ Scott and Lisa again in the future - they definitely had the guests dancing all night!

Wow! The best dj ever!
How do we begin to describe the amazing experience we have with Scott Ely. His level of passion, professionalism, flexibility, creativity, and energy is unmatched. He will bring any wedding dream you have to LIFE and do it in a way you could have never imagined. We were the couple who requested specific times in a song for going down the aisle and while doing our first dances and Scott nailed them all! He kept a close secret from the wedding guests, per our request, to introduce Mr. & Mrs. Wuf from NCSU and did their intro just like any sporting event. The crowd went insane and he kept the energy going all night love. There are not enough words to describe how much we LOVE Scott and his wife for making our day as special as ever!

Wonderful DJ for our daughter's wedding!

You can tell that Scott really enjoys what he does, and I think that is what sets him apart from other vendors. He's responsive, listens, and keeps the party going! Couldn't have imagined our day without him!

Absolutely the BEST!
Scott and Lisa did an amazing job at our daughters wedding! From the lights to the music everything was top notch! The music kept everyone on the dance floor! Couldn't have asked for anything better!

Wonderful DJ
Scott was excellent and amazing to work with. Scott was very thorough and detailed working with us to create a perfect timeline. He kept the party going all night and made sure to keep guests laughing and having fun. Scott arrived hours before the event to make sure everything was good to go. He even checked in with us several times. Highly recommend Scott for anyone looking for a DJ!

Best DJ Ever!
DJ Scott was SO on the ball, flexible and accommodating. He really went above and beyond to ensure he had our timeline perfectly organized, with key songs such a first dances and cake cutting. We had a vocalist and guitarist singing for the ceremony and reception who he worked amazingly with, kindly setting up all of the sound for that (as well as mic-ing the officiant and ensuring sound check was spot on).
So grateful that we found such a fun yet easy-going DJ to be part of our "backyard boujee" wedding. We know he had fun too!!

BEST Wedding DJ Ever!!
DJ Scott made my husband and I's wedding a complete hit on 10/09/2021 at Evermore Farms in Apex NC!! He played our music preferences to a "T" and everyone was having a blast. I would highly recommended him to anyone looking for an incredible night that ran so smoothly. We did not have a wedding coordinator and he was such an amazing help keeping things on track and also going with the flow when needed. 10 out of 10!!!!

Best DJ's ever!
Scott and Lisa Ely of Avalanche Sound, Lights & Photo Booth were the Dj's at my Son Michael and Daughter-in-law Jordan's wedding . They did such an amazing job. The music and lights were awesome! They had us dancing and having fun all night long! I highly recommend them for any party! Thank you for making the wedding special and so much fun Scott and Lisa!

Prompt, professional & accommodating!
DJ Scott was amazing to work with from beginning to end. Upon meeting him, we knew that he was someone who genuinely enjoyed what he does. He was very prompt, professional and accommodating. Our timeline was organized months in advance and he did not disappoint! . We ended up making the decision to postpone less than 30 days out and DJ Scott made that process seamless. Everything from our ceremony to the reception was on point. He kept the dance floor going all night long. We would 10/10 recommend Avalanche Sound, Lights & Photobooth.

Professional, Fun, Responsive - An Excellent Experience
I can't say enough great things about Scott and his wife, Lisa. They were extremely responsive and friendly throughout the planning process, even working with us to reschedule due to COVID. On the day of the event, they arrived on time, set up a professional display, were well prepared, and worked with us to adjust the agenda as needed. They accommodated all of our requests without any issues whatsoever. They were kind and thoughtful and they contributed so much to the evening. Thank you, Scott and Lisa, for everything you did to make this a wonderful event for our family!

Kept the dance floor going!
We enjoyed having Scott as our DJ. He was very communicative leading up to the wedding and sent a detailed timeline for the day. We had a downpour during the ceremony and a power surge during the reception that he had to work through, but he kept the dance floor going once the power came on! There was a mixup with one of the slow songs where a different song was played instead of one we chose, but overall would recommend and a good value for his services.

Incredible Service.
Words cannot begin to explain how thankful I am for Mr. Ely to take the time out of his day and speak to me and my husband a week after our wedding to discuss the snag in the rug that had occured. (I was under a LOAD of stress on my wedding day and I was firing on all cylinders). That call shows just how much Mr. Ely cares and wants to make things right for any and all brides and brides-to-be. If you are looking for a super caring, friendly, detail-oriented, and patient DJ, Mr. Ely is the one for you! He will definitely get your crowd moving and his number one goal is to make the bride and groom (or brides / grooms) happy on their big day!

Scott was great to work with! He consistently communicated with me to ensure the reception timeline was perfect. I did not have to worry about planning my reception because he took care of everything and through coordinating with my wedding planner. Highly recommend!
