I recently had the pleasure of planning my wedding reception at Ashton Gardens West Houston, and I must say it was a truly wonderful experience. From the moment I stepped into the venue, I was captivated by its elegance and charm.

Let me first say this venue is absolutely stunning! My fiance' and I were looking for a place that needed minimal decor and we stunted across Ashton Gardens will looking through The Knot. The chapel is gorgeous and the windows really do set the tone for an elegant wedding! The reception hall which is just a few steps away is equally beautiful, not needing really anything at all to enhance the look. My wedding planner is Sheila and she has been fabulous along the way. With the being my FIRST and ONLY marriage, I have so many questions and believe me I had emailed Sheila probably more than I text my fiance, but she is super sweet and has answered every question I had without any hesitation. The service is amazing and I really could have not prayed for a better venue; mind you I looked at 30 locations across the Texas area.

My experience with this venue was absolutely amazing. My fiancé and I were not high maintenance or detail oriented for our wedding. We wanted the a simple nice wedding that we did not have to put a lot of work in and this place was the perfect place! The venue itself was so beautiful, you barely have to decorate it. The vendors are all with the venue, and our amazing planner Sheilah W was amazing. She gets everything prepared and deals with contacting all the vendors and putting everyone on the same page. I was so shocked the packages even included stationeries (save the dates & invites) ! I am so glad we chose to have our wedding here! When I tell people I barely did anything to plan this wedding.. I mean it. In a good way! Stress free. It was such a great day. Simple and beautiful -

We had an amazing experience from start to finish with this venue and their staff. Natalie Keating helped us with the tour and with finalizing the date / contract. Literally every question we had, the answer was yes! She was not pushy to get us to sign, and was very responsive when I text her questions. Once we chose a date and submitted the contract, some of the vendors started to reach out to collect info. We loved working with Cortnie at the Design Haus for floral. We then got assigned to Sheilah W. as our planner, and it kept getting more and more perfect, and we knew we made the right choice! Cortnie and Sheilah were both flexible with days/times for our meetings, contacted us way in advance to get those meetings scheduled, and overall just had the best personality and patience with us. Sheilah was even more amazing on the day of, and with helping guide us during the rehearsal. There were a couple of last minute changes on our wedding day, and she made sure they went off without a hitch. My husband and I were on cloud 9 for weeks after our wedding. We couldn't thank them enough. We got many compliments on the food and cake / dessert table as well. The desserts went FAST! The only compliant I had (and from others) was the DJ playing the music too loud, he mixed rap and country songs together so it was hard to two-step to, and there was about maybe 5 people under the age of 30 in the room. It was more of an older crowd, and I just wish he would have recognized that. We had multiple people ask him to turn it down a bit during cocktail and dinner, and he would keep it down for about 2 minutes and proceed to turn it back up. I was clear with him during our intro call that we are more of a country bunch, and would want to two-step dance. I guess that wasn't clear. Tristyn was our photographer, and he was so much fun and inventive. It was easy to be comfortable around him. We haven't received our photos yet from editing, but we did see some after he took them and were pleased! Overall, everyone had a great time! -

I had a great experience with the team from Ashton Garden’s West Houston! Ms. Sheilah W and Jackie tooo great care of me the day of. Ms. Sheila was easy to get in contact with and was available for my mother and I every step of the way for any question throughout the year of planning. The food was amazing and I’m big on food. We did a tasting and all of our wishes and more were met the wedding day, especially the seafood gumbo! The venue was more than spacious for our many many guest. Absolutely AMAZING! The venue it self is so stunning, but the people that work there make the experience so much better! They were all so nice & accommodating to anything I needed. There is someone helping you ever step of the way. My vision was to have a simple yet elegant wedding and this venue surely made that possible. I could not imagine my wedding being anywhere else! Ashton Gardens West was a lovely place to have our wedding. The staff were friendly and accommodable. Small hiccups with the seating chart and not having enough seats per table, however they were quick to fix. Food and drinks were always filled and tasted great. The venue is beautiful and pictures really can't do this place justice. Highly recommend. -

Having our wedding at Ashton Gardens West Houston was the very best! Laura did an incredible job helping plan our special day. She was always available to answer our questions, above and beyond the planning and the detail meetings. I loved having a venue that included catering, stationary, DJ services, and planning services all in one package. It made the whole process so easy. Our food was incredible and was complimented by all our guests! Even the guests who requested special dietary plates said the food was great, and appreciated the extra effort that went into providing for their needs. There were no surprises or hidden fees and the deposit was promptly refunded the next day. On top of all this, the venue was beautiful!!! Highly recommend! -

We chose this venue for its architecture and décor, as well as for having one contact for venue, catering, and bar. To be honest, shortly after I booked with them, I started finding some pretty bad reviews, but once I voiced my concerns about the seemingly scarce communication, they adjusted to ease my mind. As the date neared and we really leaned on the gas, it was clear this group knows what they're doing. Phoebe, Keeton, and the day-of coordinator Emily were such a treat to work with and I couldn't have asked for more. -

Keeton and Joanna were incredible! We started planning our wedding 6 months out (taking a month to choose the venue, so 5 months really), so things needed to happen really fast. Keeton was very patient and understanding as I submitted some things late. She made it work! She was also very quick to respond to questions and explained every step of the way when we were planning our wedding day. Walters Wedding Estates is amazing and had an option to include some things that they would do for us, so that we didn’t have to worry about it. I’d recommend Walters Wedding Estates to anyone! -

We would highly recommend Walters Wedding Estates for several reasons: 1) they were very responsive to emails leading up to the event and the staff was very kind and helpful to answer our many questions, 2) the day of, they kept our event running smoothly and the service was great, 3) the Houston West venue is absolutely gorgeous and it fit our budget nicely-- especially since we were able to customize the package to fit our needs best, and 4) the food was delicious! Reem, Keeton, and Jazmine were extremely helpful in planning and executing our event and kept things running smoothly throughout the night. -

Ashton Gardens is BEAUTIFUL. I had my wedding there exactly a month ago and my husband and I can say their food is the BEST. All of our guests loved the food and the ballroom was just drop dead gorgeous. Not to mention the service the staff was super helpful with making sure everything was set up exactly how and where you wanted it to be . I do advice however to any bride to be who chooses Ashton to please be very time oriented make sure that if you’re gonna get ready at the Venue that it doesn’t take too long so that you have a lot of time for those pictures around the whole venue. The only thing I’d change from my experience with Ashton is to have more time. It sucks to have to pay for an extra hour I did not but I’d say it’s worth it so that you don’t feel rushed or on a time schedule which is not a good feeling. Other than that I can’t stress enough about how magically the venue felt to me. I cried when I was venue hunting with my husband and I first walked into the Chapel. The chapel is BEAUTIFUL. Ashton gardens is a perfect venue for that special once in a lifetime day -

I had the pleasure of working with Brittney during the beginning booking stages, then shifted to the amazing Shelby who helped with EVERYTHING! My husband and I got married at Ashton Gardens’ West Houston location on 3/28/2021. The venue is stunningly beautiful and well maintained, but what really sealed the deal for us when we chose our venue was the exceptional staff. From our initial tour until our wedding day, the team at Ashton Gardens made our wedding planning process so easy! They are so friendly, professional, and understanding. Their in-house catering and bar packages made it so simple to plan our wedding and the food was delicious. We cannot say enought good things about our day-of coordinator, Reem, who went above and beyond to make sure our planning process and our wedding day went flawlessly. We loved everything about this venue and have recommended it to everyone! -

Ashton Gardens Houston West (their Clay Road location) was just amazing to work with! Scarlett was our coordinator and she did a fabulous job. But truly, every staff member we communicated with was wonderful - Brittany and Reem were delightful as well! Being a mom while planning a wedding made our meetings slightly scattered and Scarlett did a fabulous job of tracking my ideas even through the distractions of my one year old chiming in. Every detail of the day was completely on point with what we discussed in our planning meetings and she was truly our super star! She also did an AWESOME job working with our photographer to tag team keeping everything moving gracefully through the evening. The food was incredible - our guests are still talking about how great it was! And, the bridal and groom suites were perfect and spacious for us and our large troop to get ready in! Plus - they were so accommodating in allowing our nanny to watch our three littlest guests in the bridal suite during the reception! We loved every moment of planning our wedding with Ashton Gardens and our day was perfect for us!! -

From the first time I saw Ashton Gardens West (under construction) I knew I wanted my wedding here and I’m beyond grateful I was able to make my dreams come true! The chapel is breathtaking and makes for gorgeous pictures! The reception hall is very highly finished and can be dressed up or dressed down. We used half of the ballroom and there was more than enough space! From the beginning of signing the contract to the very end with everything in between, Brittney was a blessing! She answered all questions I had quickly and always made me feel like I was the only bride having a wedding there. During one of the planning meetings we met Scarlett who also assisted Brittney in the end. I brought in a lot of my own decor and they were so accommodating and made all of my visions become a reality! The food was delicious and we had nothing but compliments from all the guests about how beautiful the venue was and how good the food tasted! I will forever be grateful for Brittney, Scarlett and Ashton Gardens West for making my dream day a perfect day! THANK YOU!!

I loved having my wedding here. My planner, Nicole, was awesome and always had quick responses. Every cost and item were well explained so there were no surprises. I do wish we had the venue for an hour earlier and an hour later. No one was ready to leave. Kenneth, our DJ, was the best! My complaints would be that it was too hot in the chapel and reception area, even after we brought it up with staff. The day of coordinator was not knowledgeable of the venue (AC system, if certain rooms would lock for valuables, etc.) and uncertain of the day of timeline. She had outdated info. And left the night early. While there was another coordinator there for us, she never introduced me to her. Otherwise, it really was a great day! -

A Perfect Day!
We held my daughter’s wedding at Ashton Gardens West last weekend. The day from start to finish was amazing!
We wanted a more formal wedding at a venue that included food, alcohol, glassware, linens, etc. We wanted the kitchen staff and the servers to be very familiar with the facility. Even something like a paved parking lot is not something to be overlooked! Ashton Gardens had it all!
The bridal suite accommodated the bride, the mom and 8 bridesmaids, plus a couple of hair and makeup people perfectly. The chapel is lovely, but at 240 we were just about maxing it out. The food was delicious (I received several compliments). The entire faculty is very clean (each time I visited someone was cleaning something). The staff is friendly. There are 2 bars, which was great for keeping the lines short. Our coordinator Reem was great. Very helpful and excellent at her job. My one hesitation on the venue was the dance floor. It’s huge! But I was able to control where tables were set and we had a great band so we had a full dance floor the entire night.
The planning experience was excellent as well. You don’t get down to details with your coordinator until 2 months before the event, but that’s plenty of time to get everything in line as long as you have booked your vendors. Before then they are easy to contact and ask questions.
Ashton Gardens is not inexpensive but I can honestly say I would choose it again. I had zero stress leading up to the big day. I knew every detail (and there are many) had been thought through. No surprises! -

Sheilah W. was our wedding cordinator for our special day! Planning and organization was top -notch. For example our package we were able to have an outlook on vendors and scheduling. My husband and I had our wedding on 10/25/2025. Overall, it was a success. The reason why I’m giving AGW 3 stars is because they were the most difficult vendor to work with. For context, I hired a total of 10 vendors, and all of them were great except AGW.
Ashton Gardens markets themselves as an “all inclusive” venue. Meaning, all of their vendors are in house (i.e. photographer, catering, cake, stationary etc). The problem is that 1) they’re all overpriced compared to other vendors I had researched and 2) they only have these “events” a few times a year where they showcase their vendors. But since my husband and I don’t live in TX, we couldn’t attend them. Therefore, unless you are able to attend these vendor events, there is no way for you to properly evaluate the quality of their services.
This venue was more bad than good. I’ll start with the positives.
THE GOOD:
This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful, spacious venues in the Houston area. I love that the ceremony and reception space are both onsite. The ceremony has huge windows with lots of natural lighting and plants surrounding it. The reception just had a make over – they replaced the carpet with wood floors and it’s stunning.
Sheilah, our coordinator, did a decently good job coordinating on the wedding day. There were some details I did appreciate.
THE BAD:
We purchased the Essentials Vendor package which comes with a planner, DJ, stationary credit, and other things that honestly didn’t add value.
Their slogan is "We Promise to Deliver an Exceptional Experience" but that’s far from the truth. There was so much red tape, it was absurd.
Everything is in their best interest, not yours:
They will nickel and dime you for every little thing.
You want an extra hour to get ready? That’s gonna cost extra.
You want an extra hour at the end of the night? That’s even MORE (the price difference between an extra hour to get ready vs an hour for the end of the night is $200 BEFORE tax and service fees).
You want outside catering? That’s gonna cost you $50/person.
It was absolutely ridiculous. We had to negotiate with literally everything that we wanted. The biggest item we negotiated was the insanely priced buy out fee. While a buy out fee has kind of become an ugly industry standard, $50/person when our outside catering was $70/person is absolutely ridiculous. We were fortunate to have been able to negotiate a flat fee.
The planner could have been better.
Our planner was more of a coordinator. I felt like she did the bare minimum. If you’re a bride who prefers to be hands off, Sheilah might be right for you. But if you’re detail oriented and want your wedding to be perfect, she may not be the one for you. Unfortunately, I could not choose my planner. Sheilah was assigned to us. During our first couple meetings, when I had asked questions like “if we bring a guest book, our own table numbers, etc, basically, anything that was ours, can she help set it up the day of?” She said no. I wanted 10 guests per table and she pushed back on this. I explained that Kim Son has the same table dimensions, and 10 typically fit just fine. Every question I had, it was always a “no”. No alternatives, unless I asked. It felt like she was never on our side during the planning process. She was more of the “police” for the venue, rather than a true planner.
One of the biggest red flags was that on the day of rehearsal (Friday), when we were in the reception going over what was going to happen next, she was not aware that family introductions were before the first dance, which is part of Vietnamese culture. Earlier that week (Monday), I sent all of our vendors, including Sheilah and our DJ a detailed timeline of the wedding. She did not bother copying the notes into her timeline sheet. I emailed her the night before, encouraging her to print out MY timeline so that we’re on the same page the day of the wedding.
Before I connected with Sheilah, I expressed my concerns about how I was unsure about the in house planner. The area manager (Sheilah’s boss) assured me that Sheilah has experience with cultural weddings before, but I should have asked more specifically for Vietnamese weddings. If Sheilah had asked “What cultural aspects of the wedding should I be aware of to ensure that you have a successful wedding?” Or anything along those lines, would have been fantastic. She felt very transactional throughout the whole planning process.
We had the most hiccups with the DJ
I had a meeting with Daven and another gentleman (I forgot his name). I expressed how I wanted mics for both the ceremony AND reception. I continued to share my concerns with Daven so Gilbert, the venue manager reached out to me and we had a 30 min conversation on the phone to express my concerns in detail. I wanted a working microphone for the ceremony and reception because I wanted everyone to hear our vows. Gilbert said he understood, and would communicate that to Daven. The day of the wedding, we did not have a mic. I tried to speak loudly, but with 270 guests, they did not hear the vows in the back. The fact that I spoke to multiple people about this, including the venue manager just goes to show that they do not live by their slogan ("We Promise to Deliver an Exceptional Experience")
In our first meeting with Daven, I already uploaded some songs to the Vibo app and he told me he understood my vibe. The night of our wedding, there were some songs that he played that were good, but others were not my vibe at all. I had to go over to the DJ booth and tell him that I wanted more crunk, hip hop, and rap music.
The bar package was inflexible
Our bar package came with a signature drink, which we thought was a nice perk. However, it came with some odd restrictions. For starters, they only allowed 1 signature drink rather than allowing the groom and bride to have one individually. The signature drink also had to chosen from a very small list of uncommon drinks. So if you are looking to have a classic margarita, old fashion, or something along those lines you will be out of luck. This made it feel like a bit of a fake perk as the lack of control over the drink and flavor really didn't make it feel like you had a personalized drink.
Overall, we had an amazing wedding. Ashton Gardens West as a venue is great. Ashton Gardens West as a vendor was a headache. While I understand weddings are common for them, it is a once in a lifetime day for us. Many vendors made our experience feel special. AGW made our experience feel transactional. Their in-house vendors are subpar, expensive, and have poor attention to detail. Their prices are high and will nickel and dime you for any deviation or customization from their “cookie cutter template”. You can absolutely have a beautiful wedding here but be prepared to put in a lot of work and negotiating if you want to have a fair-priced and personalized wedding.
