Ashley Cakes designed the cake for our December 2025 wedding in Durham. Ours was a very large wedding--so Ashley designed a five-tier masterpiece. I was thrilled when our wedding planner recommended Ashley Cakes because the one requirement my mom gave me was that it had to be a buttercream cake. Ashley and her husband are buttercream experts. From our first meeting when Ashley sketched a beautiful design to continued coordination in the months that followed, Ashley was a delight to work with. On our wedding day, she and her husband delivered the most beautiful cake we could have imagined. It incorporated the orchids that were a central part of the wedding design and included both strawberry and vanilla layers. Our guests all remarked on the beauty and the taste of the cake. We are so thankful for the talent and execution of Ashley Cakes. Truly remarkable work!

our dream wedding cake
Ashley Cakes designed our dream wedding cake in June. Meeting with them at their cake studio a few months before our wedding was really fun - we got to try multiple cake flavors and talk in detail about our wedding cake vision. Both Ashley and Josh are incredibly nice and great to work with! We wanted something very romantic and floral for our wedding and Ashley came up with wonderful ideas. She also was able to make her famous snickerdoodle flavor gluten-free which was great since I developed an allergy during the wedding planning process. Our florist delivered fresh florals to the wedding venue the day of and Ashley placed the flowers herself. All our guests raved about the design, the flavor of the carrot cake and GF snickerdoodle cake, and we just wish we had more leftovers, but will look forward to our anniversary cake.

Intimate Design Process with Gorgeous Execution
Our wedding planner recommended Ashley Cakes, and we are so glad she did! First, Ashley and her husband were very flexible when we had to postpone from our original wedding date. Second, they organized an intimate design meeting during which we tried (a lot) of cake and were able to speak candidly about our taste and design preferences. Ashley even drew a preliminary sketch of our proposed cake, which has made for a lovely keepsake. Finally, and most importantly, Ashley Cakes' execution was sheer perfection. The cake was gorgeous and tasted delicious. Our guests continue to rave about it many weeks after the wedding. Highly recommend Ashley Cakes to all couples with a sweet tooth!

When I first started the planning process, there was only one baker I considered for my wedding cake and it was Ashley. She and her husband, Josh, were a pleasure to work with. It was very hard deciding upon cake flavors because everything we tasted was delicious! The design process was great, too. Ashley listened to what we wanted and also gave her own suggestions. It was so much fun watching her sketch our cake during our consult and the finished product was fabulous! All of our guests loved our wedding cake and we received many compliments about how delicious it was. I can't wait for our first anniversary so we can get another cake!

Better than my DREAM Wedding Cake
My husband was really set on doing a buffet dinner and cupcakes while I wanted a plated meal and a tiered cake. He may have won on the buffet but when we decided on our cake with Ashley and Josh, we didn't even look anywhere else. I was so sold after meeting them and trying that cake, you couldn't have convinced me otherwise. I really wanted the cake to be a focal point and just something unique about the wedding. We had three flavors in a five tier cake. The best part was that it was a full navy blue cake, with gold around the edges and hand painted fall pallet colored flowers. Y'all, it was STUNNING. I wouldn't have changed a thing about it. People are still telling me how delicious it was. Ashley's Cakes IS the right choice for your wedding.

Ashley created a *stunning* cake - that tasted just as good as it looked. She designed exactly what I envisioned in my head and was a pleasure to work with throughout the process. I was out-of-state during the planning, and she happily set up a tasting for both my parents and for me. Ashley also helped us land on the idea of a "tuxedo cake", so that each slice had two different flavors for guest to try. Overall, I would absolutely recommend Ashley.

The BEST Cake Ever
This was honestly the best cake I have ever tasted. She was extremely easy to work with and helped us incorporate our golden retriever, Ellie, into our special day with the cake design. Ashley and Josh were easy and fun to work with! Our cake was not only beautiful but delicious also! We had two flavors: snickerdoodle with cinnamon cream, and dark chocolate with raspberry filling. The planning process involved cake tasting and sitting down with Ashley to go over the design. She sketched the design as we talked with her. (I still have my sketch as a fun souvenir of the process!) She will do any combination of cakes and fillings, and she makes an anniversary cake one year later, which we are super excited for! I can't recommend Ashley Cakes enough. The design came out as exactly what we wanted, and our guests raved about the tasty cake!

Ashley Cakes did a wonderful job! When looking for cake vendors, I knew that her cakes were by far the prettiest I had seen. Once I tasted them, it was a done deal. Every flavor was delicious and it was difficult to figure out which to choose. I found a cake design on Instagram that I loved and Ashley was kind enough to order a stencil to match the lace detailing used in the inspiration photo. Loved working with Ashley and her husband on creating our dream wedding cake! Ashley is super sweet, and her husband is awesome. We had heard great things about Ashley Cakes prior to scheduling a cake tasting, and we loved how flexible the cake tasting was. We were able to pick up the cake tastings to-go, which worked perfectly with our busy schedule. At our cake tasting pick-up, Ashley and her husband introduced themselves, showed a few sample cakes, explained the process, described the tastings and recommended a cake size for our guest count. Their cake shop is so cute, and the cakes were gorgeous! As for the cake tasting, all of the flavors were delicious — it was so hard to pick which flavors we wanted!
On the day of, Ashley delivered the cake as well as a sketch of the cake that we could frame. The cake was just what we wanted and tasted awesome (as expected), and delivery was timely. Thank you, Ashley Cakes! We really enjoyed working with you.

I could not thank Ashley & Josh enough for the effort that they put into their creations. I was very selective when choosing a cake artist because I wanted our cake to be a visual statement and not sacrifice taste. Ashley is so friendly, prompt at returning emails, and had great suggestions for our design. My cake looked amazing, I got so many compliments. Working with Ashley is delightful. She is super kind and professional and makes some delicious cakes! If you have a consultation with her and visit the cake cottage, you get a chance to see where she makes the magic happen! Even though it was a bit of a journey for me to get to her place, it was well worth the drive. Being able to see the different options (tier sizes, decorative techniques, cake stands, etc) and watch her design your dream cake in person, gives peace of mind that you are on the same page and know that the cake you designed is the one you are going to see on your wedding day. By far the best wedding cake we've ever tasted. The cinnabon cake was delicious!! We had numerous people complement how the great the cake tasted and it was exactly what I envisioned for our day. Thank you Ashley!

Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how happy we are that we chose to work with Ashley and her husband Josh. First of all, we tasted so many cakes in the Raleigh area, and were absolutely blown away by how much better Ashley's cakes are. These cakes are definitely not the usual dry and stale wedding cakes, ours tasted as good as if it had been made that morning. Both our wedding and groom's cake were so beautiful too, exactly the vision I had imagined for our wedding. Ashley is so creative and had great ideas for design of our groom's cake, we got so many compliments on how great it was! We loved visiting the adorable Cake Cottage to talk design and taste cakes. Besides amazing and beautiful cake, you have to know how genuine and sweet both Ashley and her Husband are. These two are clearly wonderful people doing what they love, and it show in every aspect of their business and how they relate to clients. Ashley also left me with the beautiful sketch she did of my wedding cake, that is now framed in our new home as a sweet memento of a perfect day, and cake!

Ashley made our wedding cake back in 2007. It was a beautiful 3 tier white cake with strawberry cream cheese filling and adorable fondant strawberry bride & groom toppers. It tasted even better than it looked! We loved it so much that we've gotten a single tier replica for each 5 year milestone anniversary (just celebrated our 10th last week!), and look forward to continuing that tradition!
Ashley is genuinely sweet and an absolute pleasure to work with. Her dedication to her craft, as well as her amazing talent, is apparent in her work. She's knowledgeable about the industry, and very responsive. We've really enjoyed working with her over the past 10 years!

If you are looking for a GORGEOUS and DELICIOUS wedding cake, Ashley Cakes is the way to go! We chose them after going to several weddings with her cake and found ourselves going back for seconds and thirds. My favorite part of what they do is instead of worrying about having to save the top tier of your cake, 1 year after your wedding, they will make you a complimentary "mini cake" for you to enjoy on your anniversary. Ashley and Josh were so easy to work with and I would recommend their cakes to anyone and everyone!!

Meeting with Ashley for cake tasting was one of the highlights of the wedding planning process for my daughter and me. Ashley 's cake cottage is delightful and charming. We enjoyed all of the varieties we tasted in this lovely setting with a nice cup of coffee. We decided on the perfect cake for our spring garden outdoor reception. The strawberry and vanilla cake with strawberry filling was beautiful and got rave reviews from our guests. Ashley did a sketch of the cake we envisioned as we tasted. Even though it was a warm day, the cake held up beautifully. She even went to the trouble of getting water tubes for the fresh flowers that decorated the cake. It was truly a beautiful centerpiece and delicious too!

Ashley and her husband have the cutest cake cottage and create the most beautiful cakes! My family and I had such a great time seeing where the baking is done, sampling TONS of flavors, and dreaming up my perfect cake. What was even more awesome is that our wedding cake looked identical to the sketch that Ashley made with us as we were deciding how our cake would look. And of course, it was the best cake I have eaten at anyone's wedding!

This is my second time work with Ashley and I couldn't be happier! Our wedding cake was exactly how I imagined it would be. It was absolutely stunning and tasted simply fabulous! We got so many compliments on how amazing it looked! I absolutely loved the entire process and enjoyed working with Ashley. She is incredibly sweet, personable, and so very talented! She took the time to work with me on designing the perfect cake and really listened to my thoughts while also provided me some great ideas.

Ashley Cakes is amazing! Her and her husband were such a pleasure to work with and made the "wedding cake process" so much fun! Unfortunately, we were not able to have a face-to-face meeting with Ashley due to scheduling conflicts. She went out of her way to set up a phone consult with us (we talked several times) and then made us a sample box of cakes (including gluten-free for me) that we picked up from her cute cake cottage (it's beautiful). The cakes were AMAZING-we had so much trouble deciding which ones we wanted for our wedding. Her gluten-free cakes were the best I have ever had. We decided on a gluten-free 2-tiered almond cake for our wedding cake and loved it (and 4 cupcakes flavors). Our wedding guests said the cake was the best they had ever had. We had 100 guests and bought enough cupcakes for 150 people...there were no leftovers. Ashley was so fun to work with. Not only is she incredibly professional, but she is so sweet! We highly recommend her!!!

All of the reviews are true. Ashley Cakes is incredible! My husbands cousin had already used them for her wedding years back, so we knew from experience where we wanted to go. When we first met with Ashley, we had the pleasure of visiting with her at their beautiful cake cottage. What an awesome set up they have! You know immediately you're in good hands once you enter the room. Ashley made us feel right at home.. and even though we had no idea what we wanted for a design, she was somehow able to draw up our dream wedding cake! We loved that she drew the sketch right in front of us, it added an extra bonus for our wedding scrap book too! The tasting was fun and delicious. She gave us several samples to try and we loved them all! Later on in the wedding planning process, Ashley Cakes was a featured vendor at two of the events my husband and I attended, so we were able to try even more of their awesome flavors. Ashley and her husband were fantastic and we highly recommend them for your wedding cake needs! We are still getting compliments about our cake and how delicious it was. She told me the grooms cake was going to be a sheet cake, but then it turned out to be a cake that looked exactly like a comic book (my husband loves comic books!). The whole process of meeting Ashley and tasting cakes was perfect as well as our cake set up on the day of our wedding. My husband does not like sweets and he couldn't stop eating the different flavors during our tasting and on our wedding day. We loved it so much we had three different flavors and two cakes! Ashley Cakes created a phenomenal cake for my wedding! Through the entire process, Ashley was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Ashley was able to create a 3-tier cake within my budget to feed 70-80 guests. When I arrived at my reception, I was truly blown away by how lovely my cake was. However when we cut the cake, and had the first bite, I was blown even further! We received so many compliments on our snicker doodle and chocolate cake flavors. I had the chocolate at the wedding and could not have been more happy! Two days later, the new husband and I finished off some left over cake while on our honeymoon and was still as delicious as the first bite on our wedding day.

Working with Ashley Cakes was such a breeze. My mom and I met with Ashley at a consultation at her beautiful cake cottage! We took some pictures and ideas and she sketched a design of our cake during our meeting. She understood our vision immediately and we were sold! She was even willing to assemble fresh flowers on the cake provided by our florist. My fiance (now husband!) could not join our consultation so she packed a box with 4 different combinations of cake flavors and icing to share with him. We chose a classic almond cake with buttercream icing. This combination was simple but far from ordinary! We have received many compliments on not only the beautiful design but also the great flavor of the cake. Ashley Cakes is well-known in the Raleigh area and it is easy to see why. Ashley is highly experienced, professional and so sweet!

Ashley and her husband are amazing! From the initial consultation until the wedding day they were very professional. The cake tasting in their cute cottage like studio was exceptional. Ashley designed our cake and we tasted several flavors that were all delicious. We ended up choosing the tuxedo cake with wedding cake/strawberry puree and almond cake/cream cheese. All of my guests raved about the cake and how moist it was compared to other wedding they had attended.
I would definitely recommend all brides to use Ashley cakes!!!

From the first time I tasted Ashley's cakes, there was no doubt she would do our wedding cake! Not only are Ashley and Josh the sweetest people ever, but her cakes speak for themselves. I didn't really even need to do a tasting because I already knew what I wanted and I knew she'd make it amazing. But I took her up on the tasting anyway :) Her flavors are all delicious and you can tell she makes her cakes with tons of passion and love. She also let us be creative too with the different fillings and flavors; one of our flavors we chose was a funfetti with a bourbon vanilla buttercream that was out of this world! And so different and fun! She also did an amazing job of designing each cake for us! We ended up with three different cakes all spread out over a gorgeous flower hanging table. It was all just perfect! Thank you Ashley and Josh!!

We literally went to Ashley without any concept of the cake we wanted and left our initial meeting knowing that we had found our baker. Ashley was She sketched everything out, brought out stencils and made it very easy to visualize our finished cake. The cake arrived at our venue, it was set up and looked absolutely gorgeous before being devoured. We got a 3 tier cake and it went! We barely had anything leftover but several guests had told us that they had multiple pieces.

Ashley and Josh are such wonderful people; my wife and I truly enjoyed working with them on our wedding cake. Their creativity, humor and energy made it a lot of fun to taste test flavors and pick out designs. My wife wanted a more intricate paisley design to mirror her henna pattern, and Ashley made it happen flawlessly. Her advice about live flowers, colors, accents were all spot on, and really made the cake quite an attraction at the wedding. They also took the most beautiful pictures of the cake and stand, and shared them with us after the wedding! In terms of taste, we could not have been happier with our flavors (almond butter and ferrero rocher); they were exactly what we tasted beforehand, light and just the right amount of sweetness.
We would recommend Ashley Cakes to any of our family and friends looking for a wedding cake vendor. We can't wait for our anniversary cake :)

YUMMY! Simple as that. I am not a sweet tooth person, I tried to convince my mom that a queso fountain was the way to go rather than a cake and I am glad my mom said no, lol. Ashley Cakes is so so good!! We met her at her Cake Cottage and it was so adorable, it set the tone for what was to come. We sampled 7 or 8 different flavors. Me and my fiance thought we would pick red velvet, no question, but Ashley Cakes wowed us with the other flavors! All were amazing. We ended up going with a pink lemonade with blueberries, butter cream frosting and lemon filling. It was unreal, so good. At our wedding when we cut the cake it tasted just as good if not better! They had to make me leave the table bc I kept taking more bites, haha. Lucky we had some leftover and got some as a late night snack. Highly recommend.

Ashley did a fabulous job on my cake!! She helped my vision come to life and it tasted amazing too. I am a huge sweets lover so having a wedding cake that actually tasted good was very, very important to me. Ashley's was the only cake I tasted that I thought was delicious and she did not disappointing the day of. I would absolutely recommend her!

We recently used Ashely's Cakes for our wedding in December 2015 and I would highly recommend her. Ashley was a life saver. I initially signed a contract with a large cake shop in the area to provide our wedding cake. 2 months prior to the wedding, the original cake store wouldn't return our phone calls, never planned a meeting to discuss the cake. I attended a wedding vendor event and met Ashely there. She was amazing. We hiring her just 2 months prior to our wedding, Ashley made our perfect wedding cake and cupcakes. She was always quick to reply, professional and very helpful. She is so talented! And personally I love the Cake Cottage! Everyone at the wedding continues to compliment how delicious her cupcakes were! Highly recommend her!

Our daughter's cake from Ashley Cakes was both beautiful and so tasty! The decision to have a cake wasn't made until a couple of months before the wedding, and she accommodated us without hesitation! What an incredible team to work with! Ashley and her husband were a delight! They took my Pinterst dreams and made them come true! Ashley is someone who really enjoys what she does. You know it from the moment you meet her. Not only does she enjoy making your wedding cake, but she enjoys designing it as well. I had met Ashley at the Carolina Inn Bridal Show and was hooked at first taste of her cakes. I was still in the very beginning stages of my wedding planning so it was over 6 months before I contacted her. Ashley was expanding and was building her new super adorable cake cottage, she was not meeting with anyone during that time. I was really bummed out as I knew she is who I wanted to make my cake. As a backup, I met with 3 other cake vendors and none of them tasted as great, but most importantly they did not provide the customer service that Ashley did. She is extremely warm and takes time to really understand what you want in your wedding cake. She was also very excited to design it. My wedding cake came out beautifully and it tasted AMAZING! Ashley Cakes is hands down the best - you have to meet her at her cake cottage and you'll see what I am talking about!

We loved meeting with them, watching them quickly draw up a sketch of our cake, and then quickly (while we didn't even notice) scanning it into their computer to add color and make it come to life. Not only was their design exactly what we wanted, their cakes are ACTUALLY delicious!! AND, you can choose 2 cake/icing combos PER layer. We ended up with 6 flavors total, a little for everyone. It was incredible. And we didn't even have to freezer burn our cake since they include a 1 year anniversary mini cake in their contract. They were such a pleasure to work with.

Ashley Cakes created my dream cake! My husband and I went to meet with Ashley and her husband, Josh for a consultation/tasting and we were so impressed. We sat in their office and chatted a little about our vision for the wedding and ideas I had about the cake, and while we were talking she was drawing up a sketch of the final product. The one she came up with was so great and exactly what I was hoping for. When we left my husband and I were chowing down on the cakes while we were on our way home - each flavor was so delicious! The cake on the day was perfect, and exactly what we had envisioned. People were also telling me how delicious it was, which was also a plus! Looking forward to our Anniversary cake already!!

Ashely is wonderful! I love her new cake cottage where she holds her consults. She provided wonderful options for tasting and offered to make some others if needed. While we were tasting samples she also drew a sketch of the most beautiful cake! When I finally saw the cake, it was the most beautiful cake I've ever seen! The decorations on the cake were flawless! The taste was equally exceptional! I loved every bite and we took some to go! It was a great late night snack!!!! I cannot thank Ashley enough for sharing her amazing gifts at the wedding!!!

Ashley cakes was the best decision we made for our wedding. We live in another state and they were going out of their way to give us the best possible experience. My parents who live in Raleigh were able to meet with them and taste cakes to decide if they were the vendors we wanted. We thought that was all we would get. But no they booked a time to meet with me (the bride) when I was in NC for my bridal shower. I was able to taste all the cakes. Not only were they delicious but also Ashley and josh were warm and so kind to me. I felt like their only customer and a VIP. wait there is more!! My husband flew in for his bachelor party and they made time for him to try the cakes as well ( the only part he really wanted to do in the wedding and thought he wouldn't be able to due to distance). They went above and WAY BEYOND our expectations and we recommend Ashley cakes to everyone. The Devon was breathtaking and the taste was exquisite!! 10 stars for Ashley Cakes!!

When we were looking for wedding cake vendors, all the recommendations from both websites and other vendors pointed to Ashley Cakes, and with good reason. From our very first meeting with Ashley, she made us feel comfortable and welcome, and she was able to perfectly incorporate my wife's vision for our wedding cake. She brought every detail to life, and gave it a personal touch that made it feel unique and incredibly special. Elegant, but not too overstated, the cake was a beautiful centerpiece to our wedding. When we first tasted the sample cakes she gave us, my wife and I ate an entire box of samples in one night, but it was okay as we were months away from the wedding! She had diverse and original flavors, and none of the cakes, sample or the actual wedding cake, tasted dry or too bland or sweet. The taste, look, and presentation of the cake were simply perfect. We would recommend Ashley Cakes in a heartbeat for anyone looking for the perfect wedding cake!

My husband and I just recently got married and used Ashley Cakes for the cake at our wedding reception. We had a great experience planning what our cake would look like and selecting the flavors. Everything we tried was delicious! Ashely Cakes took care of the delivery and set it up. All we had to do was return the cake stand the week following the wedding. The cake was beautiful and delicious and we received many compliments on the cake! They also make a top layer cake for you on your first anniversary so you do not have to keep a frozen cake for a year. We are already excited to have another piece then! We would recommend Ashley Cakes to anyone looking for a beautiful and delicious wedding cake!

My husband James and I are so so glad we went with Ashley and her husband Josh to make our wedding cake!! Personally, Ashley and I clicked really well, and we ended up designing the cake by ourselves (Josh, my husband, and my mom just kinda sat and watched because it looked like Ashley and I knew what we were doing)! I also had discovered that Ashley likes Grumpy Cat (as do I!) and so we kept teasing my husband that we'd put Grumpy Cat in the cake! :) We ended up with a 5-tier cake with sparkly frosting, flowers, pearls, sparkly ribbon, sugar flowers, and a belt detail to mimic the belt on my dress! The cake flavors we tasted were all so delicious! It was hard to choose! We ended up going with almond cake with amaretto filling for the bottom and middle layers and a pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon cream cheese filling for the layer in between! It was delicious, and our guests were all raving about how good the cake was! I personally was glad that I got to take the leftovers home! :) Ashley also made the top layer a chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse filling just for me, and I really enjoyed it!! :) One of my favorite things about the cake was the surprise Ashley left for me on the cake! On the back of our cake, Ashley had made a frosting replica of my family's cat (which is grey) and added a sparkly pink bow with bling! Ashley worked on this surprise with my mom and brother; she noticed on Instagram (since we follow each other!) that this particular gray cat kept coming up on my insta, so my mom told Ashley how I had joked about walking our kitty down the aisle in a sparkly harness! I so loved the little replica of our kitty!! That surprise was one of my favorite details from the entire day!! :) Ashley and Josh made the most delicious and beautiful cake I've ever had! I am so glad I got to work with them, and they are so sweet on top of their awesome talent! Thanks so much Ashley and Josh, we had so much fun working with you and hope to stay in touch!

It was fantastic to work with Ashley Cakes from the initial meeting, through the idea/planning process, and to the wedding day. My fiance couldn't get off work to attend the initial meeting with me, but luckily they created a tasting take home box for the two of us to sample together...this was so wonderful and allowed my fiance to be a part of selecting the flavors, which he was very excited about. If you are looking for a team to do your wedding cake you can stop looking. I could not have been happier with this choice! Ashley and Josh are a one of a kind team who not only can make the cake of your dreams but a cake that is also so delicious. They give you a sample box to die for that makes choosing your flavor a hard task. There are not enough great things I can say about this team! They are both very professional, are easy to get in contact with and won't disappoint!
