  Accomodating and excellent work

  I used Ashimoto for my wedding after a friend recommended them. Meryl is very sweet, helpful, and accomodating, especially when I had to change the location for the make-up artist to meet a couple of weeks before the wedding. Paula did my make-up and Caitlyn did my mom and cousin. Everyone looked gorgeous and the make-up lasted all day and night without needing any touch-ups. Paula and Caitlyn were incredibly nice and personable as well. I would highly recommend them both.

  Meryl was referred to me by my maid of honor/ cousin who had previously received her services in the wedding of her sister in law. She came highly recommended from someone I trust dearly.
  I was a California bride who was getting married in NJ. Meryl and I spoke many times via phone and I instantly loved her. The first time I met Meryl ( make up) and Tracy ( hair), they were open to my style and vision. Being more of your California hippie/ yuppie/ free spirit, I was unsure if they could meet my need of the " all natural bohemian vibe". We had a trail back in April while I was back East. I had a small window of time before I needed to fly back out West, which they graciously accomodated for my mother and I.
  Personally I loved her and her ability to connect even though I was not her "typical/ average bride. ". Ironically, I instantly became connected to her team.
  They were open to my ideas of the non traditional norm (and what we requested). After my trial I had some things I wanted adjusted. Meryl and Tracy were so open and receptive. After some phone calls, emails, pictures, they made a plan and TOTALLY nailed it. I couldn't have been happier with my hair and make up and either could my family and maid of honor. I love these two ladies, they also brought such amazing energy the morning of the big day as things were hectic. If I lived closer I would use them frequently. They ROCK, and she gave me recommendations for a DJ, from Pure Events Group.. who we hired and loved. Meryl and Tracy made my day and made me feel like the most beautiful and natural bride I aspired to be.

  Meryl at Ashimoto was amazing to work with! I was having trouble finding the perfect makeup artist for my wedding and had a few trials with other potential artists but just was not 100% convinced they had enough bridal experience. The makeup the others had done looked nice in person but photographed horribly. I wanted someone with experience and who knew how to apply makeup that would last and photograph well. My sister recommended having a trial with Meryl, who had done her bridal makeup in 2003. Meryl responded quickly to my emails and phone calls and even though I was an out of state bride, she was able to work around my schedule to set up a trial for my next trip to NJ. She was very accommodating and sweet. I loved her work and felt confident that she could provide the best service so I went ahead and booked her. On the wedding day, she did not disappoint. She did the makeup for me, 4 of my bridesmaids, and my mom. She worked efficiently and was very pleasant and calming. All the girls loved her work. My mom does not wear a lot of makeup and was worried that she wouldn’t look like herself. Meryl was very patient with her and gave her the “natural” look that she wanted while still making her look pretty and “made up.” Everyone looked gorgeous. She gave me exactly the look I was going for, even switching it up slightly from the trial due to the rainy weather and her opinion of what would last better through the day/night. The next morning, my makeup was still perfectly intact! My photos came out gorgeous. There was no “ghosting” or rub off like I had experienced with other makeup artists. You will not be sorry if you book Meryl for your makeup needs! A lot of artists can make you look really pretty, but not everyone can make it last and photograph well. There is definitely an art to it and experience is everything when it comes to makeup!

  I had my wedding yesterday at naninas in the park. Meryl is phenomenal and I cannot say enough great things about her. She told us you want your makeup a certain way or certain color for pictures and she was right because everyone's pictures we have seen our makeup is flawless! My mother and mother in law wanted more natural lighter makeup looks and she created that beautifully for them. Extremely talented makeup artist and I look forward to coming to her in the future!   Meryl and Tracy did our hair and makeup for the my spring wedding at the Park Chateau. I am not a very glamorous, makeup heavy person and was very nervous about having anyone do my makeup for the wedding. Meryl was very easy to work with, and very creative. I showed her photos of what I wanted and she helped to emphasize my bright skin and big eyes. While some makeup artists might just cover up features, she really highlighted and emphasized my natural beauty. And I am so thankful with the results. I looked gorgeous and love the photos. My hair was done by Tracy and was GORGEOUS! And my mother in laws got their hair and makeup done as well and looked gorgeous. All in all, the ladies did an exceptional job. It was definitely pricey, about $1400 for 12 services including bride. However, in all the services were exceptional. We recommend Ashimoto to all Park Chateau brides.

  My family has used Ashimoto for several occasions and have never been disappointed! Meryl takes pride in her work and is a true artist. Susie was our hair stylist...so efficient and creative. They listened to me and put together the perfect look. The day of the wedding they were both early (had to get started at 6am at the hotel) and they both worked very quickly. The quality of work was amazing. I never felt so good in my life and all the girls in the bridal party looked awesome. Both Meryl and Naomi are MASTERS of their respective crafts. Plus they are just awesome women to be around. :)

  If I ever have to get my make-up done for ANYTHING again I will be asking Meryl and her team at Ashimoto to help me. I LOVED the way that I looked and all of the girls in my wedding party did as well. Meryl is kind, down to earth and on top of her game so that you never need to worry about having her with you on a high stress day.

  I had Gina and Sabrina do my hair and makeup for my wedding. They were fantastic!!! I have never loved my hair and makeup as much as I did that day. My bridesmaids and my mom loved their hair and makeup!!. Sabrina airbrushed myself and my sisters and it looked flawless. Gina came to the hotel at 6:30 in the morning to get our hair started and finished all 8 girls on time! I would definitely recommend them to someone else.

  Eva did my hair and Sabrina did my makeup for my wedding day, and I really feel that I lucked out. I was so incredibly happy with the job they did on my hair and makeup. I felt that I truly never looked better in my life. They are both such professionals and were great to work with. They also did a fantastic job on my family and bridesmaids as well. If I ever have to get my hair or makeup done again, I will use them again without question. They both showed up exactly on time. I did a trial with both of them before the wedding, and they stuck to and remembered exactly what I liked (and it came out even better than the trial). They listened to me and tried very hard to make my hair and makeup the way I liked it (which was a more natural but finished look, with my hair down; I used airbrushing which I was hesitant to use but it came out so natural and lasted the whole night; I used lashes which I've never used before and it added a lot to the look). I felt that the work they did on my family, friends and myself were of the quality that is seen in fashion magazines. They were that good! Thank you for making me feel so beautiful on my wedding day!

We had our wedding in the morning, and they scheduled me for 7am, which no regular salon would do! They are really nice people and you really feel like you're getting a makeover worthy of "What Not to Wear". They were able to hide my acne, and listened well to what I wanted my makeup and hair to look like. My pictures came out better than I ever could have imagined.

  Ashimoto was great! Meryl was amazing and did my makeup exactly how I wanted it. I am a very picky person and I usually do my own makeup...I went out of my comfort zone and Meryl was amazing!! They did both hair and makeup for myself and my mother and we were thrilled!

  Although I did not use Ashimoto for my wedding day my mother did and she looked great. Meryl did a great job on her make-up. And her hair stayed the entire night. A little on the pricey side though for a non-bride.

  Kristin and Gina did my makeup and hair. Kristin was great to work with and did my makeup beautifully. She is highly recommended. Gina did my hair, and although mine and all the girls hair turned out great, she was rushing us on my wedding day as she was trying to get to the next appointment. Overall they were good, except it would've been nice if Gina was more accomodating to the bride's schedule rather than her schedule.

  Kristin and Gina did my makeup and hair. Kristin was great to work with and did my makeup beautifully. She is highly recommended. Gina did my hair, and although mine and all the girls hair turned out great, she was rushing us on my wedding day as she was trying to get to the next appointment.   Meryl (the owner of Ashimoto) did my make-up for my bridesmaid and I for my wedding day. Everyone looked fabulous and we got so many compliments on how great it turned out. I would definitely recommend Ashimoto!

  Rita & Meryl were great, but it was very expensive. My makeup was lovely, but my hair fell flat very quickly. It was rainy out, but it was also rainy the day before when I did my own hair. My curls stayed with hot rollers that I did myself, but fell flat almost immediately from Rita's curling iron. She did a great job on my bridesmaid's up-do. She was nice, but I would only recommend up-do.

  The make was beautiful but there wasn't a lot of flexibility in the pricing and unfortunately the hair trial went okay, but I had Tracy and while she was sweet, her assistant was LATE, by like 45 minutes on the day of the wedding. My hair was good, but I had a lot of extensions and within a couple of hours everything was falling out- had to fix it a lot and frankly not very well. That was disappointing. I changed to them last minute because my previous vendor I had to cancel for lack of professionalism and responsiveness, and she had rushed through everything. I also got charged $18 for a lipstick for the day that was obviously used and only half filled on the day of the wedding. But I needed it for pictures, so I paid it.
  
  1) If you want people do buy the product so they have it for the day- kit, etc- you have one made up and you buy a FRESH lipstick. Most brides are going to buy at least the lipstick on the day of. If not, then tell the girls the lip color you chose so that they can go buy it themselves.
  2) She really didn't know how to do math and we had to run the numbers multiple times. I was a little disappointed about the lack of organization for someone that brags about working with Bobbi Brown for years and they are best friends.
  
  Honestly, I went with them because the make up and hair was halfway decent and my pictures look good. When you are getting married, this is the one area that you might have to spend a good amount of $ to make sure you get a quality person for hair and for make up. I'd suggest if you are having an intricate up do- do that trial first with a place- then if you like it, book a trial for the make up. If you don't, move on.

  I contacted Meryl (owner of Ashimoto) to set up a hair and makeup trial. I had arranged engagement pics to be taken the same day at the place that I had gotten engaged. On the night before my trial, Meryl sent me a text that she needed to cancel because they had double booked. I barely got an apology, but I still rescheduled my trial. I loved my hair and makeup when I left my trial, so I booked Ashimoto for my wedding day. I gave a deposit at that time, even though I wasn't 100% certain if all 3 of my girl + my mother wanted her hair and makeup done. A little over 3 weeks before my wedding, one of my bridemaids decided that she wanted to do her own makeup (because her husband had just been laid off and she wanted to save some money) and my mother cut her hair short (and it was pointless for her to pay $90 to have it done). I contacted Meryl to let her know that 1 less hair and 1 less makeup would be needed and she told me that the contract stated that I needed to give 30 days notice. Having 7 other contracts signed, all of them allowed changes up until a week or 2 before the wedding. SO, on top of the $150 + tip I paid for a trial, I also paid $320 for my hair and makeup and then I had to pay $180 for the 2 services not used. I made my aunt get her makeup done since I was paying for it anyways, but I was very upset that Meryl would do that to me on my wedding day. She bragged during my session that she had to hurry up and get to the next site because she was doing 11 girls. What a slap in the face that she took money out of my pocket when she was going to do an additional 11 girls on top of the 5 that were paid by me and my party. She tried to sell me over $200 worth of Mary Kay skin care and makeup on top of it. I decided I only wanted the lip color she used on me and didn't realize until I got to my venue that she had basically given me a sheer lip gloss (pretty much the same color as my lips.)

  Meril, the owner is talented, BUT totally scattered. She comes off as if she is on something. She did my hair and makeup for my friends wedding 1 year ago. She did an amazing job. She used MAC. One year later I booked her. She switched to all Mary Kay products. Once I booked her I had an impossible try getting in touch with her. She sent me several wrong invoices with other peoples wedding info and the wrong price about 4 times. I went for a trial and it was fine. Two weeks later she called me and said she was looking forward to meeting me at my wedding. Go figure. She forgot about the trial. Her worked has gone down, bigtime, and the switch from MAC to MK sucks. I DO NOT recommend this person. As for hair- she brought a lady named Maria with her who is great.
