SO MANY guest compliments

One of the top comments we got from our wedding guests was about how good the food was! The whole process of working with Cheryl's was phenomenal. The tasting went very well and they were so sweet even when we go the time wrong and were half an hour late. The food on wedding day was fabulous. We did plated meals and the service was great! Favorites included the butternut squash ravioli and the mushroom risotto. They had a good sized menu with many different options and were very reasonably priced. They were able to provide bartenders while we supplied the alcohol. Definitely would recommend and use in the future if a need arises!

Wonderful Experiences

I worked a wedding at Noble Ridge Tree Deck on 8/17/2024 and I had the pleasure of working with Javier and his team with As Good As It Gets. I want to express my sincere gratitude and high praise for Javier's character and work ethic, as well as the great service from the rest of their team. I was the DJ at the wedding and we had an intense storm hit, almost out of nowhere, and all of my equipment ended up getting wet despite being covered. We all had a really rough day. Javier saved me by wrapping up a bunch of my gear in plastic bags when I was dealing with my second sound system below the tree deck, and once I returned to my main area, he even helped me hand carry all of my things to my vehicle (in a t-shirt getting soaked in the rain) while everyone else hid in their cars or under shelter. I cannot express how much it meant to me. I've worked with Amy on another event series that I booked at the World Forestry Center and the food and service was wonderful. Can't recommend them more.

Dream Team!

The communication from booking to wedding day was so great, I booked this vendor without even ever trying the food. Amy was alway so quick to reply to emails and helped me find the perfect menu. We traveled from out of town for our wedding and guests are still raving about how delicious dinner was. I am extremely satisfied with the entire vendor team I had, and Cheryl's on 12th was amazing. Thank you!!

Would work with as a wedding planner any day

As a wedding planner with Your Perfect Bridesmaid, I've had the opportunity to work with the GAIG Cheryl's team for about 5 weddings this season, and I love working with them! For us wedding vendors, weddings are all about working as a team for the couple we're all serving, and the Cheryl's team are the best team players - they're communicative, detail oriented, transparent, and helpful during the planning process and on wedding days. The couples I've worked with have only said great things about their food, and I love recommending them because they're well priced for a full service caterer and have great options for menus. Thankful for this team and all they've done to help Your Perfect Bridesmaid's couples have an amazing wedding day - you can't go wrong with them!

Yum! Cheryl’s is amazing!

We loved working with Cheryl’s for our wedding! Their food is amazing, we did the maple-glazed chicken and wild salmon for our entrees and they were both a huge hit. Their staff is lovely and we felt well-taken care of through the planning process, our tasting, and the day itself. Our bartenders were fun and kept the drinks and good times going. We have been to weddings where the caterers didn’t not bring enough food, but at ours we had plenty of extras that we’ll continue to enjoy over the next several days and nobody left hungry! We love Cheryl’s!

Great Food and People

Evelyn from Chery’s was great. She was super easy to work with and the food was perfect. From taste testing the menu, to eating the actual food at our wedding reception, everything was just so good. All our guests loved the food and the bartenders provided by Cheryl’s were just great people. There is nothing bad that can be said about booking Cheryl’s for your special event. Highly recommend 100%.

Great food and service

We had a smaller plated catered meal with Cherly's for an wedding reception event in SE PDX. Evelyn, their event manager was a pleasure to work with - making sure everything was dialed in and smooth. The food was yummy and presented well. Also great staff who helped day of. Three cheers for Cheryl's!

Most professional catering team!

Throughout our wedding planning process, we didn't have the need for outside caterers because in-house catering was offered at the venue. Long story short, we found out that was no longer an option when we were only 5 weeks away from the big day. We reached out to Cheryl's on 12th (As Good As It Gets) right away, hoping we can at least have some simple options to make sure our guests will be fed.

We got a response right away, with Evelyn as the main contact person the whole time. Evelyn is professional, friendly and extremely flexible with our needs. Despite such short notice, she was able to schedule a tasting session for us and provide us with quotes to look over in a timely manner.

Because it is year 2020 and things just can't go smoothly - our original outdoor venue was no longer an option due to the wildfires and air quality. We decided to move to a smaller indoor venue with half the guest count. Needless to say, those few days leading up to the wedding became very stressful for us. But Evelyn was again quick to respond and adjusted everything according to the new number.

On the day of, The catering team was professional, efficient, and made everything go so seamlessly. The venue space was definitely on the smaller side, but they made it work! My guests enjoyed the food very much, and I lost count of how many times the venue owner came up to us to compliment on the team - in his words, "best catering team he has ever worked with".

If you are looking for catering service that is professional, efficient, and reasonably priced, look no further - this is the perfect catering company for you!

Great food and great service

When planning our wedding we learned so much! Things like, feeding a large group of people can really add up! We researched our options, and spoke to several catering companies. Our wedding planner suggested Cheryl’s, and they had a great looking menu at a really reasonable price. As we planned the meal options, Evelyn and Cheryl worked with us to accommodate guests’ dietary requirements, which was really important for us. We received a number of comments from our guests about how delicious dinner was, and we absolutely loved the risotto! We highly recommend them for your next catering event.

Such an easy and wonderful caterer

We reached out to quite a few caterers for our wedding but As Good As It Gets stood out prominently because they were prompt, detailed, and made the process so easy! In the months after we selected them, we had absolutely no issue with getting questions answered, coordinating details, and planning every phase of our wedding catering.
Our first tasting at Cheryl's was exceptional. We had asked if they were able to be flexible with their offerings and incorporate a few traditional Nigerian dishes, and Cheryl's absolutely nailed it. We had sent over recipes and the team worked diligently to get the right flavors and textures and we were able to provide feedback that was very well received.
The day of the wedding, food blew our socks off! Cheryl's delivered in a big way. Our non-African guests were in love with the flavors and depths to the food, and the African guests were pleased that our food was reproduced so well in Portland Oregon!
We had such an easy and fun time working with Evelyn and Javier on the day. We would highly highly recommend As Good As It Gets catering for your wedding.

Everything we hoped for!

We loved working with Cheryl's! Because the venue we picked required us to use a catering company from their preferred list, we were limited to what we could pick as well as afford. Cheryl's not only fit the bill but they were also very flexible and knowledgeable. There is a benefit to working with vendors who have been in your venue space before or worked alongside other vendors you may have hired.From our quote process and tasting, down to the wedding day execution, everything was smooth. It was so smooth, I don't think I even noticed a server at our wedding, they were that great. The representative who worked our event was kind, and efficient. She catered to us during dinner hour - she got our plates and drinks and made sure we had everything we needed to survive the night. She also made fantastic judgement calls in regards to some of our food picks (BBQ pork sliders take a lot of time to assemble so she had them pre-assembled right before serving to speed up the buffet line) She also boxed up our cake and cupcakes and sent us home with the extra food (I still have a bag of BBQ in my freezer that I can use later!) During our tasting I believe we actually met with the owners of Cheryl's and they were the sweetest, they are genuinely excited to serve you on your wedding day and every day leading up to it. Even though we would have picked a cheaper option had we been able to, we loved every minute of our experience with Cheryl's.

The BEST food

Truly the best food and service. These people know what they’re doing and they will not let you down! You can even bundle tableware through rental companies through them to avoid more contracts.

Tasty food and friendly service

Cheryl's (As Good As It Gets) has some of the best staff. Our event manager, Evelyn, and everyone who served at our wedding were friendly and professional. We sent so many emails to Evelyn and she responded quickly and never made us feel like we were being demanding (even if we thought we were). They didn't charge us a corkage or cake cutting fee and were happy to accommodate our guests' dietary requests. Our guests continue to rave about the food; even the leftovers were tasty! We tasted with two other caterers, and Cheryl's had the best customer service and best tasting food with a variety of seasonal and local dishes. We continue to recommend Cheryl's to anyone who needs a caterer.

March 2019 Wedding

As Good As It Gets made our vision come true by supplying a pizza dinner for our wedding. We had a few food allergies as well which they accommodated no problem! When issues arose they solved the problem before I even knew one existed. Very thankful we chose them for our wedding.

Incredible food + incredible service

We can not recommend Cheryl’s catering enough. We love love loved our day of coordinator and catering manager, Evelyn. She was super on top of it and was always available for questions before the event. We tasted food options twice before the big day and each time the owners, Ed and Cheryl were there to help craft the recipe to our liking. We can not say enough positive things about our experience. If you’re looking for a caterer that will give you the time and attention you deserve on your wedding day, Cheryl’s is it!

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I love how Cheryl's is a family business. Every time my husband and I went to the restaurant one of the owners was there helping to serve and bus for their guests. We had Paulina as our contact and she could not have been more kind and helpful. She was so flexible and really made sure that we had the best possible experience. She helped with everything including the day of time line. The food was spectacular and they even provided vegan and vegetarian options with no extra charge. Additionally their alcohol policy really helped us save a significant amount of money. Cheryl's was absolutely amazing.

I cannot begin to explain just how impressed we are with As Good As It Gets. I started emailing Deblin earlier in the year finding a caterer and she was the most patient person in the world. I didn't have a clue what I was doing or how to fit things into our budget. She worked with me at every step, even well before it was decided that we would actually go with them. Her advice and knowledge on all things catering was so immense. It helped me figure out a lot and I really appreciated how attentive she was with everything. Our wedding was all vegan and a few other caterers said they could do vegan food, but As Good As It Gets was the one we trusted the most. They knew what they were talking about and were happy to accommodate in any way. AGAIG is worth every penny. We could have went elsewhere for cheaper but the attention, quality, and stress-reducing nature of it staff made me quickly realize that we had to go with them.

The tasting itself was so delicious - I mean, out of this world. We were spoiled, getting things from their bakery and any drinks we wanted. I knew we made the right call when we met with Deblin in person for the first time. She's honest but not pushy, kind but firm, she knows the ins and outs of everything, and listened to our concerns and wishes.

Paulina was assigned as our event lead and she was also on point the entire time. The team helped so much during set-up and tear-down, making everyone else's jobs much more manageable. The tables looked amazing and the team was so fun! I pretty much wanted them to be part of the celebration because they just all have such wonderful personalities. But they worked hard and were dedicated to providing us the absolute best.

I could honestly go on and on. If you have a chance to meet with them, do it.

As Good As It Gets Catering did a superb job for our wedding. We and our guests were so pleased with the food and the service. Many of our guests remarked about how good the food was. The service was great. They were so responsive to all of our questions and thought of things we hadn't. The day of Michaela and her crew were great at helping get all of the tables set and looking perfect. The staff during our reception was great. They were efficient yet not intrusive. Deblin was great at our tasting. We couldn't have been more pleased that we chose Cheryl's Catering for our wedding reception. It was perfect.

Everything went very well in regard to set up, cocktail hour, dinner and clean up. We did have some confusion with guests in regard to having appetizers in the front of the Manor House but then having the bar inside the Manor House...the only other issue that I wanted to bring to your attention was the vintage cake topper was sent home with some of the cake and it became stained by the dark green icing...otherwise we are happy with the overall service and we would recommend your business to others. They had good selections for the buffet and appetizers and we felt that the value was good (salmon, risotto, chicken cordon blue and salad and rolls for $25/person). They also brought us a full plate at our seat so we didn't go through the buffet and made sure we were doing well throughout the nice, which was very nice! They met with us ahead of time and went through all the details and were very responsive by email. They were also the only caterer out of 4 who gave us a free tasting ahead of time as we were deciding who to hire. They also let us bring in our own beer (kegs and bottles) without a corkage fee, which saved us several hundred dollars. We would definitely recommend them to other couples! They're not super fancy but that's not what we wanted - we were looking for good quality food without having to pay a crazy amount per head.

This vendor was one of the accepted caterers for our venue, and we couldn't have been happier. From the tasting through our menu design, from the set-up to the break-down (including to-go bags with a late-night snack and lots of dessert!), they were amazing. Deblin made it easy to plan a wedding from far away, and she has a great team that saw us through to the end. I can't thank them enough!

Deblin and her team were OUTSTANDING from our initial research stage through the day of. They were very responsive to all of my questions and changes in our general plan, and were able to make suggestions and recommendations to put our event over the top! The food was great, the staff was excellent, and if I could give them more than 5 stars in everything I absolutely would. Do yourself a favor and use AGAIG; if we ever have another event of this scale we definitely will be coming back.

We were so happy with our catering team! When I relayed our experience regarding our wedding to family and friends who couldn't attend our caterers were among the hughlights of our evening. The team was professional and also really added to the experience. Toward the end of the end of the night when they had finished everything I pulled them up on the dance floor and they were so cool, they danced with us and wished us a good night when they left. They even left a cooler out for us to party after they left. They took down a ton of extra stuff to help out. Really an awesome fun team!

The food was absolutely delicious! We were a bit nervous since we had never tried the food beforehand but it was incredible. And the staff was amazing as well. Great place!

Deblin and her team are AMAZING! They made my planning process way less stressful than I anticipated it being. I really appreciate the flexibility Deblin gave me when things came up. Not to mention, my bridal party and guests said that the food prepared was the best they've ever had! It was great experience.

I worked with Deblin and Michaela from Cheryl's, and they were so helpful, professional, and flexible from the time I met them to the end of the wedding day. I highly recommend them to anyone for any sort of event. I just can't get over how easy they are to work with, and I received so many compliments on the food (pork, chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, and salad). But they do so much more than serve delicious food!

I also loved that they signed our guestbook!
It was the perfect day, and I felt like I had nothing to worry about thanks to Michaela and the Cheryl's staff!

From planning through the dessert being served, Deblin (catering manager) was there at every step with patience and guidance. The food was great, the staff was terrific. "As Good as it Gets Catering" was everything we needed and more.

The food was so amazing we didn't have leftovers. Seriously, my husband and I didn't even get appetizers on our day because they were gone before we got back from photos. We had an extra 10 portions for the buffet because we ended up with fewer guests than originally anticipated, but we still did not have leftovers from the buffet either! Every guest raved about the food. The chicken was falling off the bone because it was deliciously moist, and the from scratch butternut squash raviolis were perfectly cooked, al dente!

Deblin was great to work with as well; when we had to change the order to a pick up since we moved our venue, she made the transition simple and stress free. I highly recommend them for your food needs. The only thing I noticed was the hiring of their servers/bartenders were expensive compared to using the venue's team. If your venue has their own servers and are full service, I would recommend using them over the catering team. Other than that, everything is great!

Having worked in various professional fields that require me to interface often with caterers, I was already familiar with Deblin and the staff at As Good As It Gets catering, and wouldn't even think of looking elsewhere for my wedding. They have an unbeatable selection of fabulous foods, great prices, tons of options when it comes to dietary factors, and lots of ways to decorate and customize your special day. Not only would I give them 10 out of 5 stars if I could, I will use them for all my future catering needs!!! Very professional, sweet as can be, and they really do go out of their way to make everything easy on you.

I can't believe how smoothly my wedding went and they had a lot to do with it! It's so nice to have amazing food and drinks served to you and not have to be and starving bride and groom. They brought us our food while we were taking pictures and during our reception we were never without a drink. Thank you for the excellent service!

Food was great, they were super flexible (even made a special recipe we provided for one of our entrees), they were very responsive, prompt and attentive during our ceremony. Only small thing was that during our final walk through they asked us what we wanted them to do with leftovers and gave us the option to have them donate the food, which we chose to do. However, near the end of our wedding the ones on-site asked us what to do with the food and when we told them to donate it, we were told that we could take it and donate it but they could not. We were not prepared to take it all, so it ended up just getting thrown away.

We had a fantastic experience with Cheryl's on 12th for our wedding reception. Deblin and all of Cheryl's staff were absolutely wonderful to work with. Deblin made the planning part a breeze (and fun!). She was always responsive, never wavered from a upbeat, "can-do" attitude, and always made us feel like valued customers. We were already impressed with Cheryl's going in to the wedding and at the event itself Chery's outdid themselves! The food was spectacular! Great food is a given with Cheryl's, but you also get their incredible event expertise. They take care of and think of EVERYTHING. All we had to do was show up! They provided exceptional service throughout the entire evening for us and our guests, and whisked everything away seamlessly at the end of the night. My family and I were able to fully enjoy and experience our wedding reception. I can't thank Cheryl's enough for that.

Paulina and our day-of staff were superb; they went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. We would highly recommend Cheryl's on 12th for any catering event! Our experience in particular was for our wedding in September at the Foundry. As a day-of wedding coordinator myself, I've worked with a lot of different catering companies and Cheryl's goes above and beyond! I was also wary of not being the person in charge, but they took care of everything. We worked with Deblin and Michaela, who were both incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable. They came up with helpful ideas that hadn't even occurred to me - for example, they put away the gifts in the locked bridal suite during the ceremony, and passed beer and wine on a patio area that wasn't conveniently located by the bar during the cocktail hour. The staff on the day of was professional, friendly, and efficient. We heard lots of great comments on the food from our guests as well! We would hire them again in a heartbeat, and especially for weddings. They were gracious and thoughtful from start to finish. Thank you for being such a huge part of our day!!

After our wedding we had guest upon guest asking us for leftovers, that’s how good this food was. Deblin was our point person and she is amazing. I can’t tell you how many times I asked her something that she had already told me, but she just kept answering me like it was the first time I was asking, and for someone who felt like they were losing their mind that was so appreciated. She made the entire food side of the wedding super easy, and kept me on track when I continually missed deadlines. We had one vegetarian at the wedding and they made a special plate just for her and brought it right to her table. They dish up plates for the entire wedding party, so you actually have food to eat without having to try and remember to grab some. They brought down mac and cheese from our appetizers for my husband and I so we’d get a chance to have some while taking photos. Also all of our rentals (besides just the tableware) could be done through them with West Coast, which was a huge relief and made things way easier. All in all wonderful service, easy communication, and wonderfully sweet people!

As the mother of the bride and living out of the area, I first became familiar with Cheryl's on 12th on our daughter's wedding day. It was a very warm day with an outdoor setting for the reception. To add to this, our daughter was not feeling well. I was grateful to encounter a very caring and professional staff, led by Paulina. They went out of their way to help us create a beautiful setting despite the heat, and showed great compassion towards our daughter. We were able to enjoy the reception and the delicious food that was served.

Deblin and her team were kind enough to pick up the wine from our vendor prior to the event. This really saved me time and the ability to work a little later vs. having to come over from the office so early. Also, as we didn't have as many guests attend, we had more food than we packed to go boxes. Kevin was kind enough to run to the store and purchase some additional food storage bags so that we didn't have to waste the goodies.

Chery's provided a "Gatsby era" themed assortment of appetizers for our "Get Your Gatsby On" Roaring 20's party at the Washington County Museum in Hillsboro. The food looked and tasted great! One of the BEST decisions that we made for our wedding was to choose As Good As It Gets for our catering. Amy, Cheryl and all the staff were so fun and easy to work with. They even "dressed" for our theme. They helped us keep on top of our schedule with planning and decision making, and on the the big day, I knew that without a doubt everything would run so smoothly because they were so professional. And it was perfect! But the most important thing was how stinking UH-MAZING the food was. I cannot begin to describe how much tasty our food was and how all of our guests were raving about it for MONTHS to come. I still dream about the side salads that we had in our gourmet picnic theme. YUM!!!! I am so grateful for As Good As It Gets Catering and all of the staff. Cheryl’s provided us with two days of catering (breakfast, lunch and a snack each day) for a conference in downtown Portland in June 2014. Cheryl’s worked with us tirelessly before our event to develop a menu that catered to our guests who high number of food allergies, intolerances and preferences. The resulting meals were fresh, high quality, attractively presented and nutritionally complete for everyone. Their vegan and gluten free pastries were incredible! Our guests all specifically mentioned how awesome the food was at the conference. One conference attendee even said it was the ‘best conference food” she had ever had.

WOW!!! This is a hidden little gem. Food quality is superb, you can tell they take their time into making their food because it is very delicious. I would say this is some of the best cuisine I have ever tasted ANYWHERE! Seriously, this is by far the best catering service and good quality food. We have been using As Good As It Gets Catering for a number of years now. They deliver lunch to us (for 30) four days per week, and we use them for larger events for up to 100 people. Though they can be late on our lunch deliveries on occasion, it isn't often and their customer service makes up for it. I absolutely love working with them and know that I will always get a prompt, courteous response to my inquiries. The food is delicious and a good value overall, especially compared to other caterers. They will work with you to customize a menu that fits your wishes/needs ... even if what you want is not listed on their standard catering menu. Bottom line is that As Good As It Gets cares about its customers and it shows in everything they do. I hope they remain in business until I retire, because I can't fathom the thought of using another company.

We loved working with Cheryls on 12th for our catering. In fact, Cheryls on 12th was the first catering place that we had a tasting at and we loved it so much that we booked it that day. Not only is the food amazing but the personalized care we received there was amazing. Deblin was so friendly and made us feel so taken care of. At our tasting, the owner even came up to our table and personally delivered some of their signature meals for us to try. We felt like family and instantly knew that we wanted to do business with them. On our wedding, we only heard great things about the food and I'm so happy our guests were pleased. There appeared to be enough food for everyone and even some leftovers for us to take home. I loved their customized care. It was also so nice to be able to coordinate our rentals through them and have them do much of the communication with the rental company. They continually updated our invoice based on changes we made along the way and never made us feel like there was ever an inconvenience. After the wedding, we found out that there was some difficulty with the beer but it sounds like everything was resolved as quickly as they could. I would definitely recommend their business for catering, or even going to get some food at their restaurant!

We had a positive experience with As Good As It Gets from the very beginning. After a lot of research for a caterer with experience putting on a delicious BRUNCH reception (apparently not as easy to find as I thought!), our venue manager gave us the idea to look into As Good As It Gets. I contacted Deblin and never looked back. She answered every one of my questions-- and I sent novel-length emails and lists upon lists of questions, people!-- and was super accommodating as we went through the stages of planning and editing our menu, adjusting according to price or guest count, and coming up with creative ideas that made breakfast food even more exciting (chicken and waffles on a skewer!). Our tasting at the restaurant, Cheryl's, was nothing short of amazing; we left with at least two meals' worth of food because the cooks made up each of our items in full-entree format-- plus, our drinks were complimentary, and we were given coupons to return for a free brunch (and when we did, we ordered coffee and planned to pay for it, but they even comped that). Everyone on staff at Cheryl's was so friendly and excited that we were going to have their food at our wedding, and the way we were treated there really cemented our decision to work with As Good As It Gets-- I mean, the manager even came to sit down and greet us and go over our menu selections. That same level of personalization was felt throughout the process as Deblin helped me sort through different details related to renting linens (they have a great hook-up), providing some of the alcohol (which they're fine with!), and even my biggest "diva request" about not wanting melon in the fruit salad (a server delivered a massive bowl of berries to the head table, just for me). I got a ton of compliments about the food and it seemed like people had TONS of food on their plates, which was important to us since our families love to eat. I was so happy with As Good As It Gets and would hire them again every time.

Awesome caterer!

We had such a positive experience with As Good As It Gets! Evelyn was great to work with and made sure we had everything we wanted for our menu. We didn't want our food to be a boring, traditional catered meal and they absolutely delivered, working with us to create an amazing fajita bar which we loved and so did our guests! Everyone wanted to take leftovers home, it was that good. They also suggested a late-night snack of empanadas which was a huge hit with our guests! We are still getting comments on how good our food was. Another positive was that the servers were professional and kind, they took great care of our guests. The pricing was very reasonable too! Thanks, As Good As It Gets!

Delicious Food

Evelyn and the staff at AGAIG were great to work with. While we had some miscommunication at one point (covid, people) it was an overall great experience. Everyone was friendly, the staff were great and most importantly, the food was delicious. Our guests loved it! They let us taste for free and even let us taste a 2nd time in order to narrow down our menu choices I'm still thinking about those bacon wrapped dates

Great Food & Super Friendly

We hired them to cater our small reception of around 40 people. They were very responsive to our calls and emails, worked with our tight budget, and provided above-and-beyond assistance making arrangements for our variety of food allergies. There were a few items that made their way onto the tables (despite my pleas due to a deadly allergy) but all was well. Everything leading up to the big day was a breeze, always very helpful with getting everything squared away and even re-did the proposal several times due to my late-night ideas :) The day of, I didn't even have to think about them because they already had everything taken care of and I was truly able to sit back and enjoy my day. And I did email them after the wedding and let them know about the allergy items that made their way onto the food and they were extremely apologetic. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and I would hire them again in a heartbeat!

I really enjoyed as good as it gets catering. The food was AMAZING and the day of person was so helpful and great about getting my husband and I what we needed on the day of.

The menu for our brunch wedding was out of this world and Cheryl's pulled it off perfectly! The food was delicious. My favorite was the french toast and the Portuguese fried rice. Communication was clear and our contact helped ensure prices on rentals were reasonable.

Planning a wedding can be really stressful but the people at Cheryl's were super helpful with planning ideas and working with all the changes that happen during the process. Nothing ever goes exactly as planned and they knew how to step up and make everything work smoothly. They have the best breakfast food, we did a brunch reception and the food was everything we hoped it would be. the guests loved it. I would recommend, As Good As It Gets Catering by Cheryl's on 12th, to anyone especially if you are looking for a brunch party.

Great product and value, we're so happy we found As Good as it Gets! They made it seem easy to have a beautiful outdoor wedding dinner in our venue that did not have a kitchen or running water. We appreciated very much their flexibility!

I am so happy that we decided to go with AGAIG for our wedding. Deblin is so incredibly organized (this coming from an OCD bride) and was very helpful and flexible if any changes were necessary. Our guests raved about our food and having a family full of GF eaters, AGAIG was able to do our entire menu GF. Honestly, they were worth every penny. Don't waste your money on "well known" caterers because AGAIG was delicious, organized, easy to work with, and budget friendly.

As Good As It Gets did a great job for our wedding! The food was light and delicious, perfect for a summer wedding. They were extremely flexible with the dietary restrictions/allergies of some of our guests and the whole staff was efficient and did a great job. We also had them tend our bar and the drinks and service were excellent. We got a great value, and I was thrilled with the whole experience working with them.

As Good as it gets was a great caterer. The food was fantastic. They made the set up and the clean up worry free. The only advice I would have ,is to make sure the people providing service the day of, know how to set up a keg system.

Deblin is your woman if you want someone who is responsive, flexible, helpful and answers EVERY question you may have. She never made me feel like I was ever burdening her with all my updates. She was soooo helpful through the day of the event. The quality of their staff the day of your event will not disappoint. Ask for Paulina to be the head of your on-site crew - she was amazing and her main goal was to make sure the wedding and reception was everything we wanted it to be!

Deblin was wonderful and highly organized when coordinating our wedding. She had all the details laid out, communicated effectively with all parties involved, and had some great input with crowd favorites when we were choosing items for our tastings.

We shopped around the Portland area quite a bit to find the right caterer for us and are so glad we went with AGAIG! The food was delicious and the price points on food and service were outstanding and very competitive. Our first meeting with Cheryl & Ed went really well; they offered generous options based off of our requested gluten free menu, departures which we hadn't even considered, which we loved. From there, we worked most closely with Deblin who was great about revising the meal plan and helping with rentals, etc. and coordinating everything the day of. We are already looking forward to returning to their restaurant for an anniversary meal!

I am so happy that I went with this company for my catering service. The tasting was such a fun experience and I felt as if I had made new friends. The value I received with what I paid was way beyond what I expected. We were able to customize our food and service to fit our pre-determined budget and they were extremely flexible. They have a lot of experience and knowledge and also helped me plan my entire day. I didn't even notice they were there the day of the wedding - they were pros!

A perfect score based on how things came together: beautiful, filling and professionally catered food especially for what we paid.

The only drawback is that it was a bit of a rough road getting there: I had to hound them over e mail and by phone a few times as due to turnover, I believe, my catering event fell through the cracks more than once.

I loved that they were able to provide catering for our wedding on such short notice. My husband and I were planning a small intimate wedding in about 2 months planning time, so I appreciated their flexibility regarding that. Deblin was great to work with, and flexible in terms of tasting times and I appreciated her professionalism, positive attitude, and general demeanor. I worked with Michaela, as my day of coordinator, who was generally pleasant enough. She did seem to have a "this is a job, I do this all the time." type of attitude, not super inviting or made me feel very special. However everything did go smooth and the food was absolutely delicious!

As Good As It Get's (AGAIG) aka Cherl's on 12th is in downtown SW Portland, Oregon. AGAIG was a preferred/contracted cater for our wedding venue. (Preferred cater had to be used unless the differing one was willing to sign the in-depth contract and there would be additional charges.) Cheryl and her staff were flexible about the food options. We wanted food that was our usual preference (something that reflected us), was "wedding dinner" worthy and taste good. They provided our servers and bartender as well (bar-we chose to buy all our own drinks, they served). They also rent any serveware, linens etc. through a third party without the customer being charged anything additional from the rental provider (no more than they charge when renting direct). We picked our silverware and plate styles, tablecloth and napkin styles and colors, our glasses ect. So we got everything we wanted. They came through with all of it and we had compliments from our guests. Once the tables were all set, it really enhanced the elegance of the room. The food was good portion sizes and taste good.

The set up and take down staff/bartender didn't set up one of the drink areas in the bar the way we requested. The price is not cheap but it wasn't the most expensive out there either, especially for being dt(Food and venue usually cost the most for a wedding anyhow) Aside from that, they were great.

Everything went great. It was hard to some times get a correct price quote or hard to understand where the money was coming from, but everything else went well and we would for sure use again for another event.

As Good As It Gets catered the 2013 New Year's Eve Ball for the Laurelhurst Club. The food was good but too small servings were given. Food was served rather than people being able to help themselves to the buffet. The vegetarian dishes were not put out until toward the end of the serving, otherwise people had to ask for them. For the future there needs to be better communication of the needs for the event.

Deblin and crew were delightful to work with and would like to see them for the next New Year's Ball.
I have since eaten at Cheryl's on 12th - the food was excellent!

Yummy Food / Stressful to Work With

I am giving three stars because in fairness the food on our wedding day tasted amazing, and I love that they pack up the leftovers for the couple. However, working with this caterer was one of the most stressful parts of planning our wedding, and I would not recommend them.

Our experience started at the related restaurant, Cheryl’s on 12th. During our process of looking for caterers we figured we would check out the food at Cheryl’s because it was a little hard for us to schedule a tasting during the week because we were out of town, and Cheryl’s is where a tasting would ultimately be and a lot of the things we wanted to taste were on the general menu. We had a really bad experience with our server and followed up with As Good As It Gets (AGAIG) about why we had lost some interest about we ate at Cheryl’s. Cheryl’s made it up to us by giving us our tasting for free, which was very much appreciated. During the tasting, we really liked several dishes and we thought the chef was super nice and personable. We decided to lock in with AGAIG and wrote off the server incident as a fluke.

As we approached the few weeks before our wedding day, things started coming off of the rails. First, prior to the contract deadline, we asked to change the seasonal vegetables to grilled carrots. We received a bunch of pushback on that change, even though we timely made it and it was just changing vegetables. Two or three days before the wedding, we discovered that AGAIT does not offer serveware for family style catering. I am not talking dinnerware like the plates and napkins guest actually use, I am talking serveware like platters and serving spoons. I reviewed all of our communications and the contract and this detail was not in there. It was also particularly surprising given that we paid more to do family style, and AGAIT was providing other service items for drinks, passed appetizers, and to go boxes. We also found out that they do provide serveware for buffet style, which would have been a cheaper option than we chose. We had met/communicated with AGAIT about the plan numerous times (and they do offer family style—that was not a special request), yet the fact that they did not have a plan on how to actually serve their food or that we needed to have such a plan was never mentioned. It still would not have been mentioned if I didn’t pick up a stray comment during the carrot conversation. This ended up in us incurring a significant, unexpected charge with our rentals company for serveware days before the wedding. It also led to a lot of stress during the week of the wedding.

On the wedding day, the food was fantastic and we ultimately got our carrots (though, we did not know that until dinner was served). However, the caterer did not make sure the groom and I got the passed appetizers like they were supposed to (I ended up only getting one of three on my own) and they did not get me drinks either (though, I am not sure they planned to do this). Also, one of the catering company’s managers who I spoke with related to the serveware came to the wedding to make sure everything went smoothly, which was appreciated. However, he also approached me during my wedding to introduce himself and state that’s why he was there and to ask if I was happy with the carrots, which I found poorly timed given we were in the middle of our reception.

We absolutely loved our wedding day, but the consistent feedback we have had from guests was that the catering service was unfriendly. We felt a bit ambushed during our run through because we were not told who was going to be meeting with us and were expected to have a lot of information to provide that we were not prepared to answer. Our initial interaction with Deblin was fantastic, but it seemed to go downhill after she passed the baton. We also were told to add more food because we didn't have enough, but walked away with a great deal of leftovers because of protein restrictions that we were not aware of (telling people only one protein). The food was great, the service was not.
