Professional and Fun!

We had the pleasure of working with Ariel on our wedding day! Ariel was extremely responsive and thorough in her communication. She maintained a professional attitude throughout every part of our wedding process and it is clear that she is committed to making you look beautiful while maintaining ethical beauty practices. For example, Ariel strictly uses cruelty-free beauty products.

After my trial, I realized some of the products did not react well with my skin. Ariel was super understanding and had me come back for a second trial. This certainly eased my concerns and everything turned out beautifully! She showed up early, awake and prepared, and made sure we finished before schedule! I had a bit of a melt-down about flowers during my application and Ariel was so calming during the situation. She truly made myself and my girls feel beautiful and I cannot thank you enough for being so fabulous throughout each step of the way!

She is a pro!

Ariel was fantastic! She was very professional in her communication leading up to our wedding day. Her studio in Bath, Maine is beautiful and Instagram/Pinterest worthy! She made me feel very at ease and comfortable, and did my hair and makeup exactly as I had envisioned it. On top of her absolutely flawless technique, she uses high end, cruelty free products, which was important for me. My bridesmaids and I had so much fun with Ariel, I highly recommend her!

All I can say is WOW! Ariel seriously is wonderful! She was the sweetest person to work with and was absolutely amazing with hair! She truly made me feel like a princess on my wedding day. She also did an amazing job doing my bridesmaids hair as well, they all looked absolutely stunning! She is to easy to talk to and communicate with and really spent the time looking at photos and getting everything just right. She is phenomenal!

Ariel is a gem! She is talented, patient, sweet, and such a pleasure to work with. I felt comfortable telling her what I wanted because she is so understanding, and clearly wants to make sure you are happy. And you will be, she is such a talent!
She did makeup for my whole party as well as my hair. She brought along a great team to help with hair. The morning felt calm and not at all rushed because she budgets just the right amount of time. I am so, so glad Ariel was part of our day she was a huge part in starting the day off just right!

Ariel is amazing. She did my makeup in my friend's wedding and I knew then I wanted to use her again for my own wedding! My wedding was a semi-destination wedding and my schedule was crazy so I didn't get to see her again until the hair and makeup trial...2 days before the wedding. She was extremely accommodating throughout the entire planning process and came to me to do the makeup trial. I actually preferred doing the trial close to the wedding. I trusted her completely and was very happy on the day of the wedding! Her airbrush technique is awesome and my mother, mother-in-law, and bridesmaids loved that the makeup didn't look too heavy. The morning of the wedding couldn't have gone smoother without rushing. Highly recommend her!!

Ariel is talented, honest, and personable. I am so glad I booked her services for my wedding last month. When I first booked Ariel in summer 2016, I had no idea of my plans for my wedding a year later - I just had a date and a venue, and I knew I wanted to use her services. Ariel was flexible in working with me and staying in touch over the course of the year. I did my trial two days before my wedding, and she was so lovely to me and my mom. Ariel took the time to explain things, answer questions, and provided great feedback. The morning of the wedding, she and her helpers from Bonnie's A Cut Above were fantastic - they were relaxed, skilled and chatty. Ariel is a winner, and she made me feel beautiful for my wedding. She helped initially with hair for everyone and then focused on make up while the other ladies finished up the bridesmaids hair. We were ready early on our timeline and her promptness kicked off a smooth wedding day. Ariel has done weddings with 15 bridesmaids before - even though she is a one-woman show, she has excellent contacts around New England to handle bigger weddings. We loved her!

There is truly no one better than Ariel when it comes to gorgeous hair and make-up! She was like a friend throughout the entire wedding planning process and put me at ease on my big day. She had our whole wedding party looking stunning and feeling great. She is highly professional, responsive and does amazing work. I highly recommend Ariel!

Ariel was my hair stylist and makeup artist for my wedding day on September 24, 2016 in Southport, Maine. She is amazing! She was easy to communicate with during planning, always quick to answer questions, and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. We did a hair and makeup trial about a month before my wedding so we got to meet and I instantly loved her down-to-earth personality and enthusiasm. She was so nice and I felt so comfortable with her. Plus, I absolutely loved the airbrush makeup and hair style that she did on me and didn’t need to change a thing! On the day of the wedding, she made sure to stick to the timeline and got everyone finished in the perfect amount of time. It was so fun getting ready in the morning with my bridesmaids, and Ariel fit right in with us! All 6 of my bridesmaids loved their hair and makeup- she made everyone feel beautiful! Ariel is so talented and I feel so lucky that I got to work with her. I highly recommend her!

I can't say enough about Ariel! She was amazing from the first time I met her for my trial! I showed her a picture of my vision and she went with it! We got ready at the wedding venue, so she traveled and brought another stylist to help with all the girls. Our hair and makeup was beautiful!! We had an outdoor wedding, and we all looked great late in to the night! Ariel was very easy to communicate with and responsive to all our needs! Thank you Ariel, you made our day extra special!!

Ariel was wonderful in every way – HIRE HER! Most importantly, she made me feel so stunningly beautiful, and I could tell from the way my now husband looked at me that day (and after the trial), that he agreed! Ariel is an amazing listener, she took my minor revisions into consideration to make everything just perfect! As a New York City girl, I loved that she has classy and trendy city sophistication standards as well as business professionalism mixed with her utterly sweet Maine charm. Ariel is fantastic at taking a picture and creating a mirror image with any hairstyle. She was also able to complete hair and/or make-up for eight women before my wedding and was willing to stick around to freshen me up in between the first look and the ceremony!

Further, Ariel’s contract is straight forward and easy. From the moment I found her website online, through contract negotiations, to such a fun trial and wedding day prep, Ariel was amazing!!

Ariel is amazing! I planned my Maine wedding from Boston and she was so accommodating with my schedule--the only time I could do a trial was Easter Sunday and she was happy to make it work! She's so easy to work with and quick to respond to email that I never felt like I needed to follow up or check in.

On the day of the wedding, she did an incredible job with the hair and makeup for myself and 5 other people--she worked so efficiently with our schedule and everyone was gorgeous and ready to go right on time. I changed my hair decision from the trial at the last minute, and Ariel was happy to work with the new style and did an absolutely amazing job executing it. And, she made beautiful custom hairpins that complemented my dress perfectly. My makeup was flawless and stayed in place through the after party; and even after taking it all out and sleeping on it the night before, my hair looked great at brunch the next morning!

I highly, highly recommend Ariel--she is not only incredibly talented and great at what she does, but she's so warm and kind that it felt like I had another friend getting ready with me on my wedding day.

I cannot say enough about how great it was working with Ariel. I had her do my hair and makeup for my engagement photos as well as my wedding. She was extremely responsive over email and helped to organize makeup and hair for 8 people (bridesmaids + mothers). On my wedding day, it felt like a good friend was there to hang out with us. She fit in perfectly and all of the girls looked gorgeous. I can easily say that I have never felt as beautiful as I did on my wedding day and have Ariel to thank for that. The airbrush makeup lasted ALL night and I have a lot of skin redness. Ariel also made me beautiful hair clips that went perfectly with my dress and created my hair style perfectly with very little direction. THANK YOU ARIEL!!

Ariel was wonderful. I've never felt so beautiful thanks to her! I met Ariel at the trial just one week before my wedding and she was open to my ideas but also expressed her opinions to help me come to decisions around my hair flowers and lipstick color. She arrived right on time for my wedding and she was super flexible with timing (we were moving faster than expected and so there was some downtime where she had to wait around before doing my hair/makeup but she was very cool with that). Everyone loved their hair and makeup and it looked good throughout the entire evening. Thank you so much. I would highly recommend Ariel to anyone for their hair and makeup needs!

We had Ariel do the hair and makeup for our bridal party. I am SO glad we chose her! She was so easy to contact via email and phone when we had questions. She was prompt to get back to us every time. On our wedding day Ariel arrived on time, and even stayed after a little while to help me with my veil! She was so friendly and all of the bridesmaids loved their look! She listened carefully to each girls request on hair and makeup. I would HIGHLY recommended her!

From the first moment that I got in touch with Ariel, she explained the process and services she offered clearly and concisely. During our trial, she was so patient with me and talked me through a lot of what she was doing since I had never had my hair or makeup done professionally before. She requested that if I wanted any changes to get in touch with her. I felt so bad showing her so many photos of ideas for hair and makeup, but Ariel assured me that they were all extremely helpful and the more photos that I had, the better because she could get a sense for what I wanted.

On the day of the wedding, Ariel showed up early and breezed through my mother, mother-in-law, and my maid of honor's hair and makeup. When it came time for me, I mentioned that the florist was bringing flowers for my hair and she was so excited about it that it put me at ease since I wasn't entirely sure if I wanted flowers in my hair until that very moment. When the flowers arrived, I told Ariel that she could arrange them in any way that she saw fit and she knocked it out of the park! Everyone commented on how gorgeous my hair was and my makeup was beautifully done as well.

Ariel went above and beyond any expectation that I had for my special day. Not only was she prompt and professional, she was also extremely sweet and provided me with encouragement to help calm my nerves leading up to the big moment. I'm so glad that she was there to share our special day and I would recommend her to everyone!

Ariel did my hair and makeup for my wedding and was amazing! I had very high standards as I used to be a professional cheerleader so I know quite a bit about "glam" hair and makeup. I also live out of state now so I didn't do a trial. Needless to say I was a bit nervous, but as soon as Ariel walked in the door I knew I was in great hands. She's very professional, really knows her stuff, and was a joy to hang out with. I loved my final look and it was something I definitely couldn't have done on my own. Ariel also did the makeup for my bridesmaids, mother, and mother in law and everyone was really happy and felt so beautiful. Could not recommend Ariel more strongly!

I'd never really thought about having someone do my make-up for our wedding but I am so happy I found Ariel. We met for a pre-wedding trial (hair and make-up) and she really listened to what I was after and came up with a beautiful, creative option that was simple, natural and completely classy, and lasted all day long. She also did hair on the day for my mum, my mother-in-law, and best friend, and everyone was really happy with her work. If you've never thought about having your make-up done professionally for your wedding, I would absolutely recommend it. Not only will your make-up look great in photos, but you feel like a Princess. I LOVED working with Ariel! She's so sweet and thoughtful and has amazing instincts. I'm not a girly girl and don't wear a lot of makeup or do fancy things with my hair, so relied on her expertise to make me look beautiful on my wedding day. I felt amazing and was so relaxed working with Ariel. She was also patient and flexible with my mom and bridesmaids. They also looked gorgeous!
We did a trial together a few months before the wedding and she remembered every detail so I didn't have to. I could not recommend Ariel more highly!!

Ariel was one of my favorite vendors we used for the big day. She is so sweet and easy to work with. It felt more like hanging out with a friend the day of the wedding than anything else. Well, a friend that made us gorgeous! :) She went out of her way to travel to me to do my trial, which was a life saver in the hectic weeks before the wedding. During the trial she didn't leave until I was 100% happy and felt like my look was complete. Before the trial I had heard mixed reviews about airbrush make up. After the trial there wasn't a doubt in my mind, it looked great and Ariel does an amazing job. It was nice to have one less thing to worry about. I have received numerous compliments about how stunning yet naturally beautiful I looked for the wedding and I owe that all to Ariel! She is amazing!

I can't say enough about Ariel Johnson!! Leading up to the wedding she was very prompt in responding to all of my communication, we had a great hair/make up trial (she actually met me at Sally beauty supply to select extensions that best matched my hair) and I went into my wedding day feeling completely comfortable.

The day of the wedding she was on time, organized and ready to go! She had 10 people to do for makeup not including my hair & make up - everyone looked absolutely gorgeous...very natural and the best versions of themselves. She was great about customizing a package that worked for me, traditional powder foundation for the bridesmaids and airbrush for me (which looked flawless and I would highly recommend).

Ariel is very talented and up to date on technique and trends. I really couldn't of been happier with how I looked and the experience I had - make sure to reserve her early as she books up quickly!

I had such a great experience! I had Multiple make up changes with her and She really knows how to tailor the makeup to the individual and mold it to the occasion. She appears very confident in her work (which is very reassuring while your waiting to see the results) Ariel not only is great as what she does, but also has a wonderful personality to compliment it all. I'd highly recommend her for your own personal experience.

From the Mother of the Bride perspective, Ariel was a joy to work with from the initial contact to the prewedding consultation,right through the wedding. She has an easy going, pleasant personality coupled with an extensive knowledge base and and amazing talent for applying makeup and styling hair. She listened carefully to the ideas my daughter had for the look she had in mind for her wedding day. Ariel had great suggestions on how to achieve this look and used her talent and effective tools of the trade to make it happen. Both of our hairstyles were exactly what we wanted and looked great! The makeup was both natural and elegant looking. I would highly recommend Ariel to anyone looking for a talented beauty stylist. She was fun, professional, and really knew what she was doing!

I have used Ariel for several of my daughters events, including a photo shoot, three pageants and a prom. Areil is truly amazing. She has a fun- professional personality, and calm demeanor, which makes her clients feel comfortable and confident with her. She always arrives on time, and offers reasonable pricing for her services. We recommend Areil to everyone!! (three of my daughters friends also used her for prom this year, and they were very happy with her work) Ariel offers a flexible atmosphere with a great creative eye, you will not be disappointed!

Ariel was a dream to work with, such a friendly, kind person and a fantastic make up artist. She went out of her way to be accommodating after an unfortunate situation with my bridal party, and that was before we even met in person. On the day of the wedding, her calm demeanor made for a relaxing morning in what could have been a stressful one. The best part was that my hair and make up were perfection. The airbrush make up is totally worth it, and Ariel went the extra mile to make sure I was happy with the outcome. Everything stayed in place the entire day. My mom and maid of honor absolutely loved their make up and hair too. I cannot say enough good things about Ariel and her work! I would recommend her in a heartbeat.

I ran for Mrs Maine this past year for the first time! I was terrified about everything but Ariels expertise! She's amazing! From her work to her heart, soul and spirit!!! Ariel was able to create the look envisioned by my photographer come to life across my face. She is truly an artist. Although this time around it was a wedding photo shoot, I'm already certain I will look no further when it comes time to select a make up artist for my own special day :)

I competed in the 2015, Mrs Maine America pageant. Finding and hiring Ariel was a blessing from the gods! Really!! I was a train wreck mess so nervous and hesitant about competing. Ariel not only made me look like a glamorous barbie doll but she reassured me and supported me from start to finish. On the day of interview I felt so confident cause I looked it, it's an amazing feeling to know you look so good you can accomplish anything. She made me feel like I was a glowing star on stage cause I felt so amazing in the way I looked! Her hair and makeup skills were by far the best of the best! We truly felt she was part of our family the day of the pageant! I went on to place in top 10, first ever pageant and I owe so much of that to Ariel!!! We will continue to use her for future events as well as recommend to everyone! Xoxo

Ariel did my hair and airbrush make up for my wedding. I had scheduled a trial with her a couple of months ahead of time and was very pleased with her work. Ariel was responsive to my emails, professional, and flexible. My wedding up do and make up turned out even better than I remembered and all of my bridesmaids looked beautiful. She was even able to fit in a last minute make-up request, even though she had a full schedule with all of my bridesmaids. I highly recommend hiring Ariel for you wedding!

Ariel did my hair and makeup for my wedding along with hair for my bridesmaids and makeup for a few others. It was great getting a trial done with her as well due to me being really indecisive at first on what I wanted for my hair, we ended up completely changing my hair and she even met me another time to pick out/up extensions as I wanted my hair down and full, she went above and beyond! She showed up on time and came in ready to go even though she had quite the commute to get to the wedding site! I absolutely loved my hair and makeup, and my bridesmaids loved their work as well, it all came out great and held for the whole day/night! Ariel was extremely responsive throughout the process with all of my questions/concerns, beyond that she’s organized, sweet and talented at what she does! I would highly recommend working with her!

Ariel showed great professionalism and pride in her work. She did my 14 year old daughter and two of her friend's makeup for their 8th grade social and we couldn't have been happier. Ariel was able to understand each of the girls personal styles and still allowed them to look like 14 year old young ladies. I highly recommend Ariel for any and all occasions!

Ariel was the perfect choice for hair and airbrush makeup for my recent wedding. She listened to exactly what I wanted and delivered above and beyond my expectations. On top of that, she made the process easy and she was incredibly sweet and personable throughout the process. Oh and the airbrush makeup still looked great at the after party. No regrets here! Choosing Ariel Johnson to do hair and makeup for my wedding was one of the best decisions I made in planning the big day. Ariel had no problem traveling over 100 miles away from her base in Wiscasset to do on-location styles for my three bridesmaids and me. She even arrived early! I'm 100% a control freak, but after talking to Ariel I had no problem turning myself over to her masterful work. I was a very indecisive bride and, despite a hair trial (which Ariel spent over an hour on) I didn't decide on the style I wanted until the day of and it was totally Ariel's suggestion and not what I had originally thought of. Both my makeup and hair turned out to be natural and polished, which is exactly what I wanted. My bridesmaids were also thrilled with her work. Overall, Ariel is sweet, hard-working, and incredibly talented and I would highly recommend her to any bride!

Ariel did my wedding make-up and was amazing!! From our very first communication up until the big day, Ariel was professional, responsive, flexible and so nice! The day of, Ariel arrived on time and was so genuine, it was very easy to have her around working while I was hanging out with my friends as we got ready. Ariel was really flexible in scheduling my trial given that I was coming from out of state (she met me on a Sun morning at 9a.m!). She arrived right on time at the resort the morning of my wedding and completed hair and make up for myself and my bridal party. Her services are completely worth the investment---she has a knack for knowing how to make women look and, more importantly, feel beautiful. Ariel is a truly talented professional!

Ariel was fantastic to work with right from the beginning! She was super accessible (answered any of my questions within a few hours) and always upbeat! I met with Ariel for a trial before the wedding and LOVED what she did, then somehow on wedding day she made it even better! Ariel gave me the exact look I was going for and I couldn't have been happier. She also did a great job on my mom and sisters! Ariel did a fantastic job doing makeup for myself and my 5 bridesmaids. She was able to do exactly what I wanted, and she worked very quickly. She was also very personable and friendly. I had a beyond fantastic experience with Ariel, from beginning to end. As someone planning my wedding from across the country, her flexibility with timing for trials and email communications was very much appreciated. However, the best was to come on the day of the wedding. I could not have asked for anyone better to be a part of my big day. She came out to the house to help several people get ready, and she was both professional and friendly during the hours she spent doing both hair and make-up, making those hours less stressful than they could have been. And the end results were amazing. Both my hair and makeup were amazing, and the photos make it apparent. They are something that I am looking forward to seeing every time I look at my wedding pictures. People are still talking about how good my hair and make-up were. I would recommend Ariel to anyone looking for a professional who will go out of her way to make your wedding day perfect.

Ariel did a wonderful job with my wedding day hair and make-up. Her fee, which included a trial for both, was more than fair, and at the trial she really listened to me, and even offered to re-do my hair when I was not sure about the first updo to make it exactly what I wanted. On wedding day she and her colleague were professional and friendly, and I was thrilled with the outcome of my hair and make-up, as were my bridesmaids.

I was so fortunate to find Ariel to perform hair and makeup services for myself, my bridesmaids and my mom. Ariel does amazing work. She was able to re-create basically any style from photos and was very interactive as she did her hair styling--always asking the girl what her preference was when there were options for a specific style. Ariel scheduled her services so that we had ample time to get everyone ready and when we got "ahead of schedule" she stayed with us in the suite to make sure that my hair and makeup was done immediately before I needed to get into my dress for pictures. I loved that Ariel was available to come do our hair on location, it made my special day go so smoothly. Ariel only added to the fun and celebratory atmosphere in the bridal suite and she was fun to be around on top of being an amazing hair and makeup professional.

Ariel was recommended to myself and my fiancee by our photographer, Kimberly Howard, who had seen the results of her work at various weddings she had photographed. While we weren't familiar with her as we are from Boston, we took the risk since we trusted our photographer and saw the work that Ariel did after visiting various websites she is featured on. We are so happy that we did! Ariel responded to our inquiry right away and was happy to fit us in on Mothers' day weekend (May is a busy time for anyone working in the wedding industry! We were relieved she made the time!) for a makeup and hair trial. We were pleased not only with her work then, but with her responsiveness when we emailed her, months later, with slight changes we wanted to make, a few weeks before our wedding. Though we were a little worried since timing is key and we were down to the wire, Ariel had no problem with the adjustments and did a fantastic job on our big day :) She was early to arrive on the day of, and was patient with us, as we were still getting ourselves in order. We absolutely loved our hair and makeup (and our mothers' hair and makeup, since she worked with them as well!), as she really listened to what we needed, and focused on what would make us look the best we possibly could on our wedding day :) Best part - the hair stayed in place (something we were worried about, since it was inevitably going to be a long day/night) and our makeup was vibrant and beautiful as well. I'd say that we'd use her again, though.....i'm hoping we don't have to get married again... ;) Both of us would highly recommend her to anyone. She's professional, friendly, funny, and made us both feel very relaxed, despite the surrounding stress. She's awesome.

To put it simply, Ariel was an absolutely amazing to work with! She was the utmost professional; returning my emails and phone calls promptly. She made coordinating the trial and day-of schedule a breeze. The day of my wedding my bridesmaids and I looked flawless. Not only was the airbrushing applied perfectly but it lasted through heat, dancing and the entirety of my day. She really went above and beyond when a few days before my wedding I decided I needed clip-in hair extensions; she was there with a solution and I was ecstatic. I planned a destination wedding in Maine for June 22, 2013 and was quite concerned about beauty services. Every beauty servicer I contacted seemed to focus on bringing out "natural" beauty. Well, I'm from a big east coast city, and I was looking for a more dramatic look. When I found Ariel, I knew she was the one I wanted to work with. From our first email, she was very professional and I could tell she was passionate. On the 22nd, she arrived on time and started working right away. She came prepared and was kind to all everyone. She even was able to fit in another girl last minute. Our hair/makeup looked great the entire day and I would recommend Ariel to anyone looking for makeup/hair services. I can't thank her enough!

Ariel came out to my home in the midst of Storm Nemo on Saturday, February 9th. That alone is incredible. My big day was so important to her that the biggest snow storm in 30 years still wouldn't stop her from getting to me. She is amazing- classy, charismatic, and professional. I had no pictures for her- she just listened to me and gave me more than I could have asked for. On top of it, I ended up purchasing one of her handmade hairpieces and it completely finished off my look. I was so moved by not only her talent but her dedication and passion for her work. I owe the perfect wedding day look to Ariel – I couldn’t have been happier! I found Ariel to be responsive, professional, and timely but most of all sweet, fun, and all around lovely. Her expertise was displayed from the start when I came out of our trial run – I knew I found my gal! She never made me feel rushed and nailed the look I had described. On the day of my wedding Ariel surprised me with a beautiful hairpiece she made. We sat on the porch as she curled my hair and created the perfect makeup look. She was patient as all of the women in my family requested “touch ups” and through the minor chaos that happens before a wedding. Ariel is great! She did my hair and makeup for the 2012 Miss Maine pageant. She was on time and got straight to work asking me what color eye shadow I wanted and how I wanted my hair done. She did everything I asked her to and my hair and makeup was amazing! Ariel put enough makeup on my face so I would not look pale up on stage, which was extremely important. I would definitely recommend Ariel to anyone who wants to get their hair and makeup done for any event, she is extremely talented and is a true artist!

Ariel Johnson is amazing at what she does! She uses professional products, will travel to your event location, and is very friendly! Ariel is a true professional. She shows up on time, brings all of her own supplies for hair and make up, and has a great talent for making you feel beautiful for special occasions. I recently was in a September wedding in Maine as a bridesmaid. Not only did Ariel travel to meet me at the hotel to do my hair and makeup, but also she offered very affordable prices. Pricing included a hair/make up trial, travel fee, and the actual day. Ariel encourages her clients to bring pictures of hair and make up they like so she can be as accurate as possibly to achieving what they are looking for. During a trial she takes the time to try multiple hairstyles and encourages client feedback to assure that they are happy with the results. I need to add that Ariel also took me on as a client last minute a mere few weeks before the wedding due to travel plans changing and needing to get ready at the hotel. I did not know her prior to meeting her for the hair/makeup trial. Ariel is upbeat, genuine, and has a true talent for hair styling and makeup application. She uses a variety of great products such as Bare Minerals and Mirabella. I liked the makeup so much that I ended up ordering from Ariel makeup products. I give the highest recommendation to anyone who wants to look and feel beautiful for any special occasion to go to Ariel Johnson.

We needed someone who was flexible and affordable. We came from out of state, and Ariel met us at our venue and took care of us on site at the hotel we stayed at. Ariel and her assistant did an AMAZING job for my wedding. They were punctual, professional, friendly, and just an overall pleasure to work with, from beginning to end.
