We hired Amy and Jackson (and June!) to photograph our wedding (with an included engagement pictures session) and to say that they are just photographers might be one of the grandest understatements possible. They are, simply put, an incredible team and I wish we could get married 100 more times so we could work with them 100 times again. They are fun, smart, professional, mindful, selective, artistic and do they ever work well together as a team!
We had an excellent first experience meeting them in Staunton, where our wedding was going to be, for our engagement photos session. They had a perfect plan in mind going into it and executed it flawlessly, from the correct order of locations to scouting the best looking areas within those locations for great looking pictures, all while being mindful of the lighting to ensure they produced the best possible pictures.
For the wedding, they were exceptional and some. Their ability to direct us and make us feel comfortable, especially working within a strict timing situation, was remarkable. I could go into paragraphs of detail, but the most telling thing is that when our wedding planner left well before the wedding was over, the Smiths stayed all the way through to the end of the night, giving my wife and me a ride through the rain back up to the main property after the reception when the logistics were otherwise breaking down. They were the ones keeping things on schedule more than anyone else and we haven't stopped talking about it since.
I guess it's also worth mentioning that the quality of their actual pictures is unbelievable. I was going to be happy enough just compiling pictures our friends took and calling it a day, but my wife insisted we needed a great photographer and it's the one and only time in our entire relationship that she's been right and I've been wrong. For everything I mentioned above and everything else I left out that was great about working with Amy and Jackson, it was worth every penny and we'll recommend them to anyone and everyone who will listen! I had the pleasure of working with Amy and Jackson for my wedding, and I cannot express how thrilled I am with the exceptional service and stunning photographs they provided. From our initial consultation to the final delivery of the images, they were professional, attentive, and true artists.
Amy and Jackson expertly captured every special moment of our wedding day with an incredible eye for detail and composition.
Amy effortlessly blended candid shots with beautifully posed portraits, capturing the genuine emotions and love shared on our big day.
Throughout the entire process, Amy and Jackson were a joy to work with. They made us feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, and their warm and friendly personality put us at ease. They were also incredibly organized and attentive to our preference ensuring that they captured all the important moments and details that were meaningful to us.
The turnaround time for receiving our photos was impressive. We received the final images within the promised timeframe, and the quality exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail in editing and post-production truly showcased Amy’s talent and dedication to her craft.
I would wholeheartedly recommend The Smith’s to anyone in need of a wedding photographer. Their exceptional skills, professionalism, and ability to capture the essence of a couple's special day make them an outstanding choice. Beautiful Photos, Outstanding Service
We hired the Smiths for our engagement photos and our June 2022 wedding. They are both very kind and professional and made my partner and me feel at ease in front of the camera. I don't usually like photos of myself but I am so happy with the shots- I think they really caught my good side. Also another bonus: we got our photos back so fast!!! I have heard of people waiting for months to get their photos, the Smiths got our photos back within weeks. Very much recommend the Smiths!! -

Worth their weight in gold
We decided very early that the most important vendor at our wedding would probably be our wedding photographer and are so glad we had the opportunity to work with Amy and Jackson. We did our engagement photos with them and loved the photos. We also hired them for our rehearsal dinner (in addition to the wedding). They did a great job of getting the "staged" photos, but also those natural moments with friends and family and us as a couple. They were easy going with our crazy dog, ultimately capturing some of our favorite pictures. Our families and wedding guests have repeatedly reached out to us, raving about how fun Amy and Jackson were to have around. They have a way of being calm and reassuring, not invasive but still capturing those special moments. They also got our photos back to us in 1 week! Incredible! They have our full recommendation! -

Amy and her partner Jackson are truly a dream team. They went above and beyond for us our entire wedding weekend, starting by coming to our rehearsal to scope out the space and get a lay of the land - talk about incredible! I loved so many things about Amy and Jackson - they have amazing energy that kept me calm and collected all day, but they also have a spirit of fun and connection that I imagine is very rare in this business. They are both just kind and amazing souls we feel lucky to have met.
And I haven’t even started on the photos! Though I haven’t seen our full gallery yet, the sneak peaks Amy shared are nothing short of art. She had a powerful and strong eye that will make your wedding photos feel special and artistic in a way I haven’t seen before. I also truly enjoyed the looser, candid feeling that Jackson offered as a second-shooter. I know our gallery will have such great variety, but all with their special touch. Our wedding would not have been the same without this awesome duo. 10/10 we recommend! -

Overjoyed with Amy and Jackson!
To say we were happy with Amy and Jackson's photography is an understatement. My husband and I absolutely loved spending the entire day with them (they stay until the very end of the party) as their calm, kind and fun demeanors put us at ease. I am overjoyed with our beautiful photos-- as many reviewers state, they have a gift for capturing countless authentic moments, of the couple themselves as well as ALL the guests (and the guests were gushing when they saw the photos). Even though we don't live in Charlottesville, we will be traveling back in the future so that Amy can photograph all the important moments. -

I've had the good fortune of working with both Amy and Jackson through work since 2014. When it came time to hire our wedding photographer, Amy and Jackson were at the top of our list. We met with Amy for an hour, talked about our vision (photojournalism-style, lots of natural light, focus on the people and their interactions, less posed and more candid) and we hired her and Jackson that same day. Fast-forward to March 2020, and COVID-19 is happening. Amy reached out to us in the midst of "should-we-postpone?" stress with the kindest message and the reassurance that whatever we decided to do, she'd be there for us. I cannot emphasize enough how grateful we were to read that - and within a couple days, we had rescheduled our wedding to May 2021 and Amy had revised our contract for us with no penalties. She and Jackson are some of kindest, most genuine, and talented people I have ever met. We cannot recommend them enough. -

Wonderful!
Amy and Jackson have been the most amazing choice from the start - my husband and I are a 'covid wedding,' and started our partnership with Amy and Jackson back in 2019. They made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera during our engagement shots, and nothing felt forced! They were also amazing to work with through 2 wedding reschedules, and were so communicative throughout the process. When the big day finally came they were the calming force throughout an expectedly hectic day, and captured the vibe of our celebration so perfectly. Many of our friends and family members raved about how many photos they took, and the end results were breathtaking. I'm so so happy we chose them for our wedding and highly recommend Amy and Jackson to anyone looking! -

Simply put, Amy and her partner Jackson are a dream team! I couldn’t imagine two more kind, creative, talented, or professional photographers.
My spouse and I had the pleasure of their company for both our engagement shoot and our wedding day. While having two people follow you while you and your fiancé/fiancée as you wander through twilit meadows or (insert gorgeous location) might sound unnatural, any sense of awkwardness soon melted away. By the time our wedding day rolled around, Amy and Jackson felt like two dear friends who happen to have cameras. They seamlessly mingled with our guests, both on and off the dance floor, and many people later told me how much they loved our fun photographers.
Months later, as I peruse through our wedding and engagement photos, I marvel at how Amy captured so many natural, tiny, beautiful moments. Her philosophy of documenting the expected, the organic, and the surprising details of a special day really shines through. It’s clear that photography is not a job for Amy, but a higher calling in which she takes great joy.
I am so grateful to have had Amy and Jackson by our side for our wedding day, and I cannot recommend Amy Jackson Photography highly enough. -

Amy Smith was such an amazing person to work with. She was super easy-going and captured a ton of incredible photos! Amy and Jackson did our engagement photos, rehearsal dinner and wedding and to say that they went above and beyond is an understatement! They both made us feel so comfortable and by the time of our wedding we felt like they were a part of our bridal parties. They were also a huge help-- especially when my wife's limo broke down on the way to the wedding!! -

Highly recommend!
I highly recommend Amy Jackson as a wedding photographer, she is responsive, easy to work with, and captures beautifully real moments in her photographs. My husband and I had never been professionally photographed before and were a little nervous about it, but Amy walked us though the process and made us feel so at ease so that it became natural and effortless almost immediately. We did an engagement session with Amy and Jackson which was a nice chance to practice being in front of the camera before the actual wedding day and left us with tons of great pictures options for our save the dates and wedding website. She creates an online gallery containing all the pictures and a link to share with others which is super convenient and easily accessible. She offers competitive pricing and really does an amazing job and has a really cool photography style with lots of candids and small details incorporated. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer to capture all the best moments of your wedding day. -
