Amie is amazing, a truly gifted photographer with an outstanding eye and attention to detail. Amie came to us recommended by a friend and we are forever grateful! From the minute we met with her through our wedding, she made the planning process painless and the day of flawless. She's a top notch professional who is capable of creating a tranquil environment to help even the most nervous of people relax and photograph perfectly. Her photojournalist style was exactly what we were looking for, we wanted to capture the moment rather than stage it. My husband and I cannot say enough nice things about Amie and we highly recommend her! -

I could not have asked for a better wedding photographer than Amie! Her photos are stunning, original, and really captured who we are as a couple and the emotions of the day. She also was such a pleasure to work with, and made the wedding day very easy for us. I would highly recommend Amie for wedding photography! -

Choosing Amie as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made throughout the whole wedding planning process. I was extremely nervous on the day of my wedding and not only was she non intrusive and had amazing ideas for portraits, but she was such a calming presence throughout the whole day! She and her second photographer had all of us laughing throughout each portrait session. Our wedding photographs are absolutely incredible! Thank you Amie! -

We interviewed a number of photographers before choosing Amie. When we met her, she was so down-to-earth and made us feel completely comfortable. We loved chatting with her and just felt like our personalities clicked. This is so important to have in a photographer, since he or she is there with you the entire day. Beyond Amie’s personality, though, we just fell in love with her photos. It was really important to us that our photos capture the emotions of the day. While some portraits are necessary, we wanted most of our pictures to feel spontaneous and intimate. We were confident after looking at Amie’s portfolio that she’d do a great job.
On our wedding day, Amie and her second photographer, Amanda, were super flexible (it started raining just 30 minutes before our ceremony was supposed to begin) and professional. The two of them made us feel at ease even with all the chaos of having to move the ceremony’s location last minute. About a month after the wedding, Amie posted a preview of our photos online, and we were thrilled with how beautiful they turned out! We received so many compliments from our friends and family. We’re currently waiting to receive the rest of our photos, but are super excited and can’t wait to see them!

Amie was our photographer for our wedding 3 weeks ago. She was recommended to us by a friend. I could not have asked for a better photographer. Amie and Ashley (second photographer) are very comfortable to be around. Amie was amazing from the moment we met with her the first time before we had a photographer, through the planning process, to the day of. She was helpful and informative. Her attention to detail and her style of photography is unmatched in our opinion. We even plan on using her in the future for maternity and family photos. If you are looking for a photographer that feels like part of the family because they are that easy to work with but totally professional, Amie is your gal!! -

Like a creative supernova she used her experience to rain down her professional and creative amazingness on our wedding. We had a limited budget and she stat down with us to advise the best way to get the most out of her time. Her years of experience are very evident when she works and she worked seamlessly through the event. When my husband and I decided we were getting married I knew we wanted a small wedding and I knew the photography would be one of the most important parts of the day. I started looking at photographers online and found Amie Otto. I looked at so many photographer’s galleries but kept coming back to her. Something about the way she captured moments was so unique and beautiful. I knew I found our photographer even before talking to her. Meeting her was just a confirmation. We actually scheduled our wedding date around Amie’s schedule. On the day of the wedding Amie was amazing! I didn’t feel the need at all to tell her what photos I wanted. I felt completely at ease and left everything up to her. I couldn’t wait to see the story she would tell with her photography. And, they went so far above what I envisioned. Amie even stayed and took photos for 2 hours after she could’ve put her cameras away and enjoyed her meal. Her technical skills are obvious in her work. But when her heart takes over…the results are extraordinary! -

We have been so pleased to with our experience of working with Amie. We hired her to take engagement pictures as well as photographing our wedding. The engagement session went above and beyond our expectations, and we got the photos back quickly. We have had another engaged couple we know say that our engagement pictures inspired them to have an engagement session, and we’ve had a few married couples say that now they regret not doing it because of how ours turned out. Her photographs are truly a work of art! She had excellent recommendations about the room layout to maximize usage of the photo booth that she brought. And speaking of the photo booth, what a hit that was! We had some of our own props and she also brought some, and people were in it the whole night. We had one guest who had to call her sister (whose wedding was the next weekend) and tell her that she must have a photo booth because it was so much fun. Amie put us totally at ease throughout the entire process. We haven’t seen our wedding pictures yet, but she posted the photo booth pictures right away so all the guests could see them as soon as possible, and we can’t wait to see the rest! It’s so great to know that her work has inspired so many of our friends with their own weddings! -

Incredible Photographer!
While reading reviews on djs, I stumbled across a review on Amie Otto. The minute I met Amie and saw her photos I knew this was the photographer we wanted for my daughter's wedding. She is extremely professional yet very approachable. Amie has a gift in being able to sense her client's style by asking the right questions.
The minute Amie arrived at the venue and began checking out the lighting and setting we knew the photos would be great. Both before and during the ceremony Amie was inconspicuous but you sensed the shots would be great. We weren't disappointed! Amie took command of the formal photo sessions making sure she would capture the best light and keeping everyone focused so we could finish and go have fun at the reception. Her presence wasn't invasive during the reception. She took numerous photos, but you didn't get the sense that the paparazzi was following you. The guests really enjoyed the photo booth and props Amie set up for our use and we have some really fun photos from it.
We received our photos earlier than the sixty days that Amie had in her contract. She even gave us a sneak preview in her blog so we could see some of the pictures. To sum up the quality of our photos I will quote a friend. "You know how when people look at wedding pictures they always say the pictures are beautiful? Well yours TRULY are beautiful and I am not just saying that! What is your photographer's name again? Do you have an extra card?"
I made a mistake when ordering a family picture a size that wasn't suggested and didn't check the cropping. Unfortunately a couple people were cut out of the picture. When I emailed Amie and told her what happened she not only replaced my picture, she had it framed for me too! This was so unexpected and greatly appreciated. Knowing Amie's character and her desire for her brides and their families to be pleased it was actually not surprising at all. You can't go wrong selection Amie as your wedding photographer. By the time your wedding is over you will refer to Amie as your friend, not your photographer.
I had the privilege of using Amie to take pictures of the children in my preschool also. The pictures don't look like your stereotypical school pictures. She captured the unique spirit of each child in her photos. One child was new to the school and extremely shy. Amie's photo of this child caught the child smiling and light hearted. In other words, I highly recommend using Amie for family portraits too! -

Amie photographed our Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding at Chanteclaire Farm in Friendsville, MD. We were so lucky to meet Amie and have her at our wedding. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and her photos are AMAZING! She is 100% worth every penny she charges and more! We plan to use her for family photos when the time comes! -

We really enjoyed working with Amie. She was one of the few vendors who always responded promptly to e-mails. She was very responsive to our specific requests for the engagement and wedding photos. And our pictures are wonderful! We couldn't have been happier. -

Amie and her assistant did a wonderful job documenting my daughter's wedding through the pictures they took. She seemed to capture every aspect of the day, from the tiniest of details to beautiful portraits of the bride and groom. In addition to the "traditional" wedding shots, Amie took some very unique, touching photos. Amie took so many pictures of the day that it is going to be hard to choose which to purchase...I want them all.
Amie was easy to work with and to have around all day. Her advice to us when we first met her was "to make sure that you like the photographer you choose because they will be following you around all day". We did indeed like Amie...she was very easy to work with, as was her assistant. Both were very professional. -

Amie did an amazing job on our engagement and wedding photos! I knew right away that I wanted her to do my wedding. I had met with a couple other photographers and they were all pushy and impersonal... and more money. She is professional and makes you feel very comfortable. It rained on my wedding day but we still got great photos with Amie's creativity. For Example, she brought umbrella's that we used to get very cute pictures. When I received my photos they were all edited and looked perfect. Amie went beyond my expectations of a photographer and I am so thankful she photographed my wedding. -

Amie was wonderful in every aspect. I initially met with her in her office at her house and we talked for hours! She does such beautiful work, I fell in love right away. Her work was comprable to more expensive photographers and I worked directly with Amie throughout. She answered emails very quickly and thoroughly. Amie also did our engagement photos and we loved them. We had to reschedule 3 times due to weather and she was flexible each time with our schedule. She was early on the day of the wedding and completely professional throughout. Amie got interesting, unique shots that we love. All of our pictures got to us in just over 3 weeks, so we didn't even have to wait a long time to see them. Everyone who has seen our pictures has commented on how much they love them and my husband and I both agree! We will use Amie in the future for holiday cards and other life events and we highly recommend her! -

Our daughter was married on May 3. Throughout the entire process of working with Amie, she did a wonderful job. The wedding turned out absolutely perfect and the photos Amie took reflect that; over 1300 photos to be exact! I would highly recommend Amie to family and friends as their photographer.

Amie did an amazing job! She was on time, and started right away. She was really helpful in setting up shots, and ALL of the pictures turned out great! I don't think there is one that I don't like. She's so artistic and it really shows in her photos. The only problem we have now is trying to decide which ones to frame.
She's so nice and is really flexible. We enjoyed working with her! -

Amie was a wonderful wonderful photographer to work with! During the preparations and ceremony, she was so quiet and out of your way that you couldn't even tell she was there! After looking through the pictures I said "how did she get this I don't ever remember seeing her clicking away" :) It is giong to be very hard to not get each and every shot printed to put on display. Our house will be flooded with wedding photographs! Also, she is not only a great wedding photographer she is a GREAT children's photographer. Amie photographed Grace our 1 year old and the pictures turned out insane...I don't know how she does it! It felt like she was one of the wedding guests and I was honored to have her there. -

Amie is a great photographer! She is also a really nice, fun, relaxing person to have around you on your (crazy) wedding day. We communicated mostly by email, which worked out well for us. Once we met in person, everything clicked. She is very professional, without being intimidating, and I felt really good after our meeting. Her services are worth every penny! Highly recommended! -

Unbelievable! Amie is a true master at her craft - she's really just that amazing. We had our engagement photos done by her, which was a great chance to bond (and produced some really beautiful photos). Then the day of the wedding, she was so helpful in advising me on how to walk around and sit down with my gown in ways that wouldn't ruin it. When we were running late and found out that all of the streets were closed around the areas that we were planning to take our formal portraits, she just rolled with it and we decided to take our photos on a street corner with the Capitol and Botanic Gardens in the backgrounds. The photos came out amazingly! AND she did it all so quickly that we weren't late to the wedding (phew!). She didn't interupt us at all in enjoying the wedding reception - just floated around taking fantastic photos from the sidelines (and catching things that I didn't see.) She turned around our 1900 (!!!) digital photos in just three weeks - many with really cool black & white / color mixes. Really, if you're at all interested in photojournalism and unobtrusive photography, but you know that you need some good portraits too - you'd be crazy not to seriously consider Amie - we're sooooo glad we did! -

Not only was Amie easy to work with before and during our wedding, our posed portraits and the candids came out better than we could have expected! She was really flexible the day of the wedding--even when we were running late and had to make many adjustments to the schedule. Even with the delay, we were still able to get all the posed portratis that we wanted, and we had a very long list. All of our images were edited (over 1000 of them!) and posted online less than 3 weeks after our wedding. Overall, our experience with Amie Otto Photography was one of the best we had with any of our vendors and I would highly recommend her to any couple.

My husband and I were married in October 2007. Although we had heard about her from some of our friends, we chose Amie after meeting with her at the Bridal Expo in January 2007. We were very impressed with the quality of her work and products she offered - specifically, her flexibility to customize our package (which most photogs are unwilling to do) and unique albums (she can do both digital and traditional photographs).
We met with her shortly thereafter for an engagement session. We wanted our engagement pictures to be a mix of formal and casual since the picture would be used in the Washington Post and our Save the Date. We also wanted to have the session at a special location but weren't sure where we could go that would capture our personalities but still give us the "formal" look. We consulted with Amie and she gave us some great options - some that had never crossed our minds. Based on her recommendation, we chose Meadowlark Gardens. The session was amazing! Somehow or another, she made me look 10 lbs lighter (bonus!) and was able to really incorporate the beautiful surroundings of Meadowlark so our pictures were very romantic and charming. We received so many compliments!
Fast forward to September 2007. Coincidentally my brother was getting married but had chosen another (supposedly well respected) photographer do his wedding. Big mistake! The "motley crew" as we called them, arrived late because they were double booked that day, rushed the wedding party through the pictures - brought my sister in law to tears to the point that I had to tell the head photographer that all communication should be through me and not her. I was in a state of shock and worry - my brother and sister in law were so embarrassed by the whole situation; I didn't want to have to deal with the same mess. I called Amie early the next morning to talk to her about it. She reassured me that she never double books, that if she made me cry - she would cry and she prides herself on making her couples happy with her workmanship. Total relief!
Now on to October, the big day had arrived! My husband (to be) had a golf outing the morning of the wedding so we asked Amie if she could stop by to take a couple of shots of the "antics". Oh boy were there some antics! She shared some of the pictures with me when she came over to the hotel and it was like I was there - the pictures were so true to life. Hilariously amazing!
As my bridesmaids, mom and I got ready for the evening it was like Amie wasn't even there; although, now looking at the pictures of us goofing off I know that she was. We did do a formal setting but I didn't feel like the pictures were cheesy - they were classic which was what I wanted our day to be about. I didn't feel like I had to pose or anything. We had asked her to focus on the reality of a wedding day - all of its trials and triumphs and she did just that.
I am pregnant now (a little too much fun on the honeymoon - whoops!) and actually just called Amie to set up a pregnancy session. It was like calling an old friend and catching up like we hadnt missed a beat. We are going to see her at the end of month. I am confident that she will once again be able to capture the love my husband and I have for one another and this little person we are soon to meet.

Amie took amazing photos. It was really difficult to narrow down our favorite 75 for the album! She was so wonderful to have around at the wedding--the posed pictures were painless and I didn't even notice her taking all of the candid shots! We really appreciated having someone so low key and easygoing---and we couldn't have asked for better pictures! -

I would highly recommend Amie Otto to any bride! She was very professional and easy to deal with. She was very open to my suggestions and gave us a lot of great ideas. I love my wedding pictures! Everyone who has seen them asks me who did them - they are just great. The value was great! I feel like we got a lot more than we paid for. Definitely meet with Amie, you will not be disappointed! -

Amie was just fantastic. All of our pictures are gorgeous and she was very unintrusive throughout the wedding. She had shot several weddings at our venue and was very familiar with the place. I can't say enough nice things. Amie is wonderful! -

We knew that photography was one of our number one priorities when planning our wedding. We weren't getting a videographer and we knew the images would capture all of the special moments of our wedding day. I couldn't be happier with our choice to use Amie. We knew from our first meeting that we would use her - as her passion for the art and her creativity was obvious. Amie really takes the time to get to know the couple and what they want. After receiving all of our proofs, I'm in awe by the emotion caught on camera. The pictures come to life and portray exactly who we are as individuals and as a couple. Nothing is staged, everything is natural and artistic and the way Amie uses light is unreal. We are unbelievably pleased with her service. The money spent and time waiting for the images was well worth it. Not to mention that she also was a savior to have on my team as my dress got shredded pre-ceremony. Without her fabulous sewing skills and cool and calm demeanor, I'm not sure how the day would have turned out. -

Amie's photos were fantastic. We were so pleased with all the pictures she got (the number and quality). Everyone who has seen our pictures said they were beautiful. On a couple of our pictures, my mother-in-law was asked if they were from a magazine - my husband and I certainly do not look like models, but the photography was just so professional. Amie did a great job capturing the story of our day - from the portraits to the artistic to the candids. Also have to say that for the DC area and the quality of the service, I thought the price was quite reasonable. -

Amie was always upbeat and positive. My sister remarked that Amie was always snapping pictures at the important moments throughout the ceremony and reception. She added the party booth feature to our package and also got some great shots of our musician friends. We recommended her to some friends who got married a month later who also are happy with her work. She really made us comfortable so we got lots of beautiful candid pictures that reflected how we felt that day. -

Amie Otto was amazing. She brought an assistant day-of which we weren't expecting, but turned out to be a big help! Not only did she provide excellent photo advice, she also offered advice about cakes and when our original venue had to cancel, she offered suggestions about alternate venues she had worked out. She also helped pin on flowers when none of the guys could figure it out! Amie knows the business but isn't a stuffy business woman. Her kind heart and caring and loving attitude brought a wonderful warmth to the day. -

We're so glad Amie was a part of our wedding day! She's very friendly and really cares about taking the best photos and making you like your best. I really liked her photojournalistic style, but I loved her personality. It was a little hard arranging a meeting with her prior to the wedding, but she's busy for a reason. She's a very popular photographer. -

Amie was great to work with and took some beautiful photos. She definitely has an eye for detail and caught some amazing candid shots. If you choose a package with the 18 photos in a photo box the results are impressive. -

Amie was the photographer for my wedding and I would absolutely recommend her. She took all of the important wedding photos unobtrusively and focused on taking the photos that my husband and I told her we wanted ahead of time. Everything went as planned the day of the wedding and she was very professional. The photos were provided very quickly after the the wedding and the quality was excellent. The photo website that she uses was very convient and allowed us to view the photos, as well as our guests. Amie was also flexible about providing the photo package that met our needs. -

We were looking to save money, without sacrificing quality, in all areas of our wedding. So we were excited when we found Amie Otto. Friends and relatives had warned me to not skimp on a photographer because, after the big day, this may be the only record you have of all your other efforts, of family assembled, of your wedding!
My biggest regret is my choice of photographer. Amie is a nice person but she is either an amateur photographer or will never have an eye for photography, at least in large settings with challenging lighting and complicated backgrounds. She posed us in front of a nice background but standing on asphalt that it is visible at the bottom of the picture. Distance shots were out of focus and in some cases there were shadows was in the picture. She used only one lense for the ceremony, portraits and reception. The result was that people on the outside of the portraits were stretched to look 6 wide. Pictures, even after touch up, were too dark or too bright, with sun in people squinting faces. More disappointing than the quality however was that she failed to get photographs of many of the decoration elements, events and guests. So those, regrettably, will only be memories. Fortunately, many of my guests were able to give me photos they had taken with their point-and-shoot cameras and the second shooter Amie brought along took beautiful photos. Those are what are in our album today.
My recommendation is to research your photographer thoroughly and if there is anything you spend more money on, your photographer should be it.
