Annie is an incredible baker, artist, and an all around wonderful human being! She was a delight to work with from our initial consultation to delivery of our wedding cake and cupcakes. She was kind, timely, and professional all the way through.
We ordered an almond vanilla cake with raspberry filling, which was absolutely delicious! All the flavors we sampled were incredible, it was tough to choose! We got gluten free/vegan cupcakes for our guests with dietary restrictions, half rosette piping and half succulent. The succulents were absolutely gorgeous, with such wonderful attention to detail. I really appreciated that Annie chose accent colors for the succulents that complimented our wedding color palette. Based on her reviews and Instagram, it seems like no two succulent sets are the same, they are custom to the client. We got multiple compliments on the cupcakes throughout the night. She also did a beautiful job staging and displaying our desserts at the event.
We were so grateful to have Annie part of the team of vendors that made our wedding day so special. Do not hesitate to hire her for your wedding or event! -

Best Baker in the City
Annie, owner of Ambrosia Cakes, is amazing and her desserts are equally as amazing! I've hired her to be our wedding baker and she did not disappoint. As a self-proclaimed foodie and baker, it's difficult to find many desserts in town that are up to my standard. However, Annie and her wonderful cakes are not only up to that standard, but exceeded it greatly! Her cakes taste amazing and I love all of the options she has on her menu, her designs are beautiful, and she was so easy to work with. She was very flexible and open to any changes you wanted, whether it was the design, or changing up a standard menu item, or helping you incorporate different flavors into her existing menu. She also makes one of the best chocolate chip cookies that I have ever tasted and I've tried MANY chocolate chip cookies. Many of my guests also commented on how good all of the desserts were.
One of my favorite things about working with Annie is her responsiveness and making sure she had everything on her side taken care of so you didn't have to worry about her as a vendor. Not only that, but she also provided a sample box for me and my husband to enjoy post-wedding as we didn't get to eat the ones that were at the wedding. -

Gorgeous and delicious!
Our wedding cake and cupcakes turned out GORGEOUS and DELICIOUS. We knew we wanted a desert theme, so it was a match-made-in-heaven when we came across Ambrosia. Annie was a pleasure to work with, she was super sweet and helpful! We ended up picking the pumpkin spice for our main cake, banana for half the cupcakes, and chocolate for the other half; all of which were delicious! We could not be happier with the cakes and HIGHLY recommend Ambrosia!

Annie is absolutely incredible and made all of our dessert dreams come true! I found Ambrosia from a blog post on “This is Tucson” a few years ago, and I knew if I ever got married, I had to have her succulent cupcakes. We received so many compliments from our guests, not only on the meticulous design, but on the incredible flavor as well. We even had a special request for an orange creamsicle groom’s cake. Annie went above and beyond and provided a tasting of this unique flavor to ensure she had it just right. We cannot thank Annie enough for her craft and providing a detail to our wedding that we will never forget. -

I am thrilled with the cake we got from Annie at Ambrosia Cakes! Cake tasting was extremely easy, and when I expressed my disappointment that one of our ideal cake flavors wasn’t included in the tasting box, Annie gave me some cupcakes of the flavor at no extra cost!
Our cake had two flavors: One tier Mexican Hot Chocolate, and one tier Almond Vanilla. Both flavors were incredible, and our guests loved them! We had a special request to have our top tier include both flavors, and Annie was able to accommodate that!
We asked for a particularly detailed cake: blue and purple marbling with gold cracks. We weren’t sure what we were expecting, but the cake was ABSOLUTELY perfect! -

Excellence and Artistry
I cannot thank Ms. Annie "Masterpiece" Matlick (as I will call her from now on), owner of Ambrosia Cakes Tucson for creating our wedding cake, and being patient with me throughout the entire process. I found Ambrosia through wedding wire, and I could tell right away that Ms. Matlick was intensely dedicated to her craft without compromising flavor. Annie was very understanding of the fact that I wanted a lemon cake with the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and worked insanely hard zesting lemons, and soaking the cake to have the flavor come out perfectly. The butter cream is absolute perfection- you may be tempted to just put a cake topper on a bucket full of the cream and call it a day. As if that weren't enough, Ms. Matlick hand painted the tile design on the hexagon base of the cake (5+ hour process), and brought a lovely stencil option for me to look at, which was used to create the "hammered copper" look for one of our tiers.
Our wedding cake made jaws drop from both our guests and other vendors.
I am speaking to any couple, including couples planning from out of state (in our case), Ms. Matlick is the best investment you can make for your wedding cake and other sweet treats.
Other notes:
-Be open to feedback from Ms. Matlick because she knows what tastes and looks best. I had originally not considered a fondant base until I was told that the summer heat might prove too challenging to support our cake and it's design had it been buttercream alone.
-You may change your cake flavor(s): I went from my original plan of a lemon cake with fresh raspberries and pistachio buttercream to a lemon cake with Ms. Matlick's homemade raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream based on the variety pack Ms. Matlick provided. I almost had the rum cake because the tasting cupcake was THAT GOOD. -

I sampled Annie's cakes first and did not look any further before hiring her for my wedding. My husband and I both fell in love with the Mexican hot chocolate cake (and I'm not even a cake person). We chose to do fresh succulents for our cake and Annie coordinated well with our florist (Desert Blooms) and created a design that was unique and stunning. We also had a desert table with cactus topped cupcakes for our guests with dietary restrictions, macarons, and churros. Everything was beautiful and tasted great. Annie was extremely pleasant to work with and a sense of calm during the chaos that is wedding planning, I cannot recommend her enough. -

The best wedding cake ever!
Annie is such a kind person with the funniest sense of humor! She was very responsive and made sure to walk you through everything you needed to know for ordering your cake. We chose a lemon cake with the blueberry compote filling and oh my goodness it was so good. The cake was super moist and full of flavor. I also let her know that we had many people with nut allergies attending the wedding and she reassured us that she was very careful with cross contamination. We requested that she decorate the cake with flowers from our florist and it turned out gorgeous! We had multiple compliments from our guest on how it was the best wedding cake they ever had and how beautifully decorated it was. Can’t wait to use Ambrosia Cakes in the future! -

She has ruined me for any desserts that I will ever have ever. Her cakes and the desserts we chose for our wedding were fantabulous!! As far as most desserts go, I am allergic to chicken eggs and nuts. I get fresh duck eggs from a friend and Annie was the only person willing to work with my allergies. She could guarantee that no nuts or chicken eggs would be used. She told me she had never used duck eggs before. I brought her duck eggs and she practiced with them and used the session to make our samples. The cake melts in your mouth. Annie is so chill and easy to work with. She helped us make some last-minute decisions with ease and gave her advice. I told her that I will forever only go to her for celebratory desserts. I will only recommend her to friends and family. -

Annie is the best
Annie absolutely impressed us with our dessert table and wedding cake! I love that she provides a tasting box to help guide the cake flavors (plus it’s delicious). She is super fun to work with and professional. Everything we had ordered tasted amazing and looked beautiful. People went out of their way to mention how our dessert table was insanely good. We did vanilla and strawberry champagne cupcakes, chocolate and lemon cake pops and then I had come up with my own flavor combo for macaroons and asked if she could do dark chocolate sea salt cookies and without hesitation, she delivered!! Oh and then our cutting cake was orange vanilla and my absolute favorite. We will definitely be booking her again if we ever need treats for an event. -

Annie was superb to work with. She listened to our ideas, gave advice, and helped create our dessert table vision. She was so patient when we had to move our 6/20/21 wedding to 6/12/22. She even followed up to make sure our original vision hadn’t changed since it had been an extra year. The desserts were exquisite and beautiful. We received so many compliments on the display and beauty of the cake and desserts as well as the taste. She even gave us our own box of treats!! I would recommend Annie to anyone looking for an amazing baker with reasonable rates! We love Annie. -

Our cake and cactus cupcakes were incredible. We did a layer cake with lemon raspberry and strawberry champagne, wild garden-y florals, and cactus cupcakes in the flavors mexican hot chocolate with raspberry, chocolate with peanut butter, and vegan “horchata” vanilla cinnamon. Every flavor was divine. Annie was wonderful to work with and is clearly very organized and experienced. So happy! -

Annie is absolutely amazing! She is wonderful to work with and really helps to bring your vision to life for your wedding. We spent time discussing theme, colors, and inspiration - which she drew together and created a stunningly GORGEOUS cake for our wedding (that taste phenomenal!. We had a desert rustic theme, with succulents and copper as our main color. Annie also created adorable and lovely buttercream succulent/cactus cupcakes for those who wanted some different flavors. It mean so much for Annie to make our cake/cupcakes and be such an important part of our celebration. Highly recommended!!! -

Annie was so amazing, we got both our wedding cakes from her! We did a micro wedding in June 2020 and she did a perfect little chocolate cake with white icing. Then when we did our big wedding in August 2021, she did an absolutely gorgeous cake again for us!
Everyone loved our cake and commented on how delicious it was. I was expecting cake to be leftover, and there was none left! It was very moist (like a cake should be) and the buttercream frosting was perfect. I found the process easy. She was responsive when I had questions and super easy to work with. But even more incredible was the commitment to delivery- the road to our venue was flooded and her husband had to very carefully load the cake into a ranch truck. Luckily one of my friends who does Crossfit was there to help, so the cake arrived looking so beautiful and I didn't even realise it had such a dramatic crossing!
Annie is amazing, and I recommend her cakes! It makes me sad that she's booked so far ahead, I would love to order more cakes from her in the future! -

My daughter and son-in-law live out of state and got married in Tucson and Annie helped make everything easy and seamless!
She provided them a wonderful tasting box on short notice while they visited over Christmas (her flavors were hands down the best out of the three they tried!) She was responsive, professional and such a pleasure to work with, not to mention the cake and cupcakes were GORGEOUS & DELICIOUS!

Jaw Dropping and VEGAN!
Cakes from Ambrosia not only look beautiful, they taste incredible!! My fiancé is vegan, so it was important to have vegan and non-vegan options that were equally delicious. Finding vegan wedding cakes seems like a daunting task, but Annie presented us with delicious options that were just as delicious as the non-vegan choices. We chose a non-vegan lemon/raspberry cake and vegan chocolate and vanilla cacti/succulent cupcakes... the final products were SHOW STOPPING. My jaw genuinely dropped seeing our cake and cupcakes for the first time. Our guests were floored! You would have thought I paid double the amount I did. And most of all, everything was delicious. If you want a baker who can accommodate your dietary needs, create masterful art, and make moist unforgettable cake hire Annie, you will not regret it. -

Gorgeous Wedding Cake

When looking for a wedding cake baker, I came across Ambrosia Cakes and loved the beautiful designs and styles of cake works they could do. After meeting with Annie for a tasting, I fell in love even more with the flavors and deliciousness of the cakes! I could not have asked for a more perfect cake baker for my wedding day! Ambrosia, fantastic!!!!
We recently had our wedding and Annie created our wedding cake. I never knew why truly a delicious cake was until I tasted Annie’s cake. This is what cake should taste like. Annie did a wonderful job with the presentation and the taste was even better. We ordered a two tiered lemon cake and we couldn’t been happier. Being one of the few vendors I found that does a dessert bar, I knew that I had to meet with Annie. I originally heard about her from Z Mansion, but was still interested in her services when we decided to get married at Saguaro Buttes. My husband and I met with her and her delicious cakes combined with her amazingly fun personality, the decision was an easy one. Her cakes are AMAZING to say the least - I will definitely be seeing if she will do another one for our anniversary (or maybe my birthday since that's sooner!). She is so great and can do pretty much anything you ask her to do. We had a personal size cake for my husband and I, and a dessert bar with churros, chocolate covered pretzels, mini cupcakes and cookies. The churros were a huge hit. You will not be disappointed hiring Annie. She is absolutely amazing and her baking skills are out of this world. -

Once you try one of Annie's cakes, you'll know why Ambrosia Cakes is so popular! This was our easiest choice during wedding planning. Annie is so sweet and easy to talk to, which made our tasting fun and enjoyable. There are so many delicious flavors, it was hard to choose. We ended up getting a triple-layered cake with vanilla-almond and strawberry-champagne cakes with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream frosting. Plus an assortment of cupcakes: red velvet, vanilla rum and Mexican hot chocolate. Chocolate-covered pretzels completed our beautiful and tasty dessert table.
Annie delivered our cake and cupcakes directly to the venue. She set up our dessert table so it was ready to go, and even provided ceramic display pieces that are free as long as you return them. Everything was beautiful and all the dessert was gone by the end of the night. We wish we saved some cake to enjoy after the wedding, so we'll definitely be reaching out for something on our anniversary. Thank you, Annie! -

Annie is so incredibly talented and sweet! I was a little nervous booking her without having tried her cakes until the cake testing, the second I tasted the first bite at the cupcakes I knew I made the right decision! It was like a party in my mouth with all the flavors! When it came time for my cake to get there they snuck in like ninjas and delivered my cake, no one even noticed they came it! The flavor was amazing everyone at the wedding couldn’t stop talking about it! We got orange with a raspberry buttercream and Mexican hot chocolate with a cinnamon cream cheese. Soooo worth it -

We chose a Mexican chocolate and a almond with raspberry filling. Both cake flavors were absolutely divine, and we got so many compliments! Annie sat with us and custom-designed the way the cake was going to look, and when there was a confusion with the final result, she quickly refunded a small agreed upon portion to make up for the miscommunication. I would definitely purchase from her again! -

My Wedding Cake was amazing!
I selected my cake vendor because of the beautiful photos I'd seen and because of how highly she was recommended by other vendors. At the tasting, Annie presented us with 6-8 different flavors and allowed us to select a different flavor for each tier. We selected the rum, strawberry, and Mexican hot chocolate. The wedding cake was beautiful and tasted amazing! All the guest loved the cake! -

Working with Annie was a dream. From the first meeting, she made my husband and I feel so special and very much at ease. All of her flavors were incredible, making the choice a tough one. In our big day, our guests kept coming to find us asking who made our beautiful cake as it “tasted so much better than a wedding cake.” We vehemently agreed! The cake was gorgeous, moist, and very flavorful. We will seek her out in the future for events to come.

Look no further for an amazing baker. From aesthetics to taste Annie from Ambrosia is your girl. I was sold on the first bite at our tasting. We went to a couple different bakeries before meeting with Annie and everything was just ehh. We saved the best for last. I knew instantly that Ambrosia was the right choice. I was right, our wedding cake was absolutely gorgeous, and tasted amazing. The detail, color and flavor were all perfect. In addition, we received countless complements for how beautiful the dessert table was set up on and how delicious everything was. On our wedding day before the reception our photographer was like “Have you seen your dessert table yet?” We hadn’t. then he was like “Oh just wait, your in for a treat. It looks amazing!.” From the cactus and succulent frosting detail on the cupcakes, to the fresh baked cookies, to the churros, to the chocolate dipped pretzels, and chocolate dipped strawberries. Everything was beautiful and delicious. I don’t even have a sweet tooth and I would eat Annie’s cupcakes for every meal if I could, they are that good. Annie is also really funny and easy to work with. Both my husband and I highly recommend Ambrosia. -

At our tasting, we found that her cakes tasted as delicious as they looked, and worked with Annie to come up with our dream flavor combinations. We requested 3 cakes with 3 different flavor and filling combinations. Annie took our suggestions and gave advice when we needed it. On wedding day, the cakes arrived early and in perfect condition. Our guests raved about how delicious, moist, and unique they were! Everyone was impressed with the presentation and flavors and they were exactly what my husband and I envisioned for our wedding!
In short, Ambrosia Cakes was a dream vendor to work with that provided excellent service and an amazing product! -

After the tasting, we knew we had to go with Ambrosia Cakes - they were some of the best tasting cakes we'd ever had in our lives, so we definitely wanted a cake to remember! We picked the Mexican Hot Chocolate cake with espresso filling and it was to die for.
The decor was exactly what we wanted for the cake as well, visually stunning as well as delicious. Annie collaborated with our florist to add some beautiful florals, without me having to worry about it at all. -
