James did a pheromonal job as MC and DJ for our wedding!
He does a no pressure initial consultation where he thoroughly answers any questions and explains his style/approach to handling a wedding day. Throughout the planning process, James was always available to answer any questions and assist with the craziness of wedding planning. He provides a stellar spreadsheet that helps give you an idea of wedding timelines, key music choices, and different small wedding tidbits. We had multiple email threads to get ideas plus a few final review sessions before we finalized all plans heading into the wedding day.
On the wedding day itself, James was active and really helped to keep things flowing. We had multiple sites at our venue, but James was able to easily set-up 3 different locations for ceremony, cocktail, and reception. He was on top of helping to assist our coordinator with ensuring we were moving along our timeline and transitioning smoothly. He was checked in with us himself multiple times through the night which really help us ensure we were on the same page through the reception with the many events happening in quick succession. I had spent months working on creating the dinnertime and open dance playlists - James knocked it out the park with adding his own flare of songs and timing to ensure the energy levels were high throughout the night! He has a background in EDM production & DJing so it was perfect match for the style of night we had, lots of hype drops and smooth song transitions.
Overall, James was essential to making our wedding night a success! We loved having him and would recommend him to anyone looking for someone that is professional and personable. -

James was an amazing DJ!! I really wanted people to dance a lot at my wedding, and he definitely made that happen! He brought great vibes, was a funny emcee, and did a great job with the music. He was also so easy to work with in the planning process, and he also took a bunch of videos of the dancing and our grand exit (which was super helpful since we didn't have a videographer). Highly recommend!!! -

James was an amazing DJ for our wedding. Throughout the entire process he was extremely professional and a joy to work with. He has a very detailed way of providing a playlist for him through all the different parts of the wedding. We also requested a photobooth from him, which was both affordable and provided excellent quality prints.
He even took special requests of songs we wanted to be played during the table release/dinner service and helped make the entire evening engaging for our guests.

My husband and I eloped and originally decided not to have a wedding, but we changed our minds last minute and ended up planning one in under six months. We knew we wanted a DJ but had no idea where to start. After coming across All The Above Events on Google, we decided to reach out—and we’re so glad we did!
James got back to us incredibly quickly and was so informative from the start. As someone who had no idea how many details go into wedding planning, I was overwhelmed—but James made the process feel manageable and even enjoyable. Scheduling a video call with him was super easy, and as soon as we met him virtually, we knew we didn’t need to look any further. His vibe was exactly what we were looking for.
As the big day approached and things got more stressful, James continued to be supportive, responsive, and accommodating. He helped us stay on track with all the details and made us feel confident that the entertainment side of things was completely under control. He continued to follow up until the day of, making sure that all the finalized details were set and that we felt fully prepared.
The day of the wedding, James absolutely delivered. The energy, the music, the flow—everything was perfect. Our guests had an amazing time. He read the crowd effortlessly and kept the dance floor alive all night. We also added in his karaoke package, which was a huge hit and brought a whole new level of fun to the reception!

James was our DJ/MC at our wedding, and he did such a great job of keeping the evening going and orchestrating what was an amazing (but very busy!) day. He jumped in to help us and our photographer fit in a BUNCH of family and friend photos right after the ceremony before quickly transitioning to our reception, speeches, and the dance floor. We appreciate how flexible and responsive James was to our requests and vision for the wedding. It was such a pleasure having his support and expertise for our wedding! -

Just had a wedding with James as our DJ and lighting expert. One of the first things he asked in our introductory meeting was how to pronounce my name. That attention to detail carried on when he asked us all sorts of questions we would never have even thought of as part of planning.
He also worked very smoothly with our wedding coordinator (as well as all of our other vendors).
As for the day of, he made sure the dance floor was packed by reading the room and changing up the music genres based on what people liked. We just gave him generic genres (pop, old-school hip hop) that people in our age group might like and he ran with it.
Also he does lights. The lights for dinner were gorgeous and they transform into dance lighting once dancing starts.
Also also, his prices for dj + mc + lighting were very reasonable. We compared with several other djs. -

We had James DJ and Sophia MC our wedding. They were both incredible! From the very first meeting, both James and Sophia were professional, responsive, and knew exactly what they were doing. James had a basic timeline form with specific music choices that was super helpful in making our own general timeline for the wedding, especially since we took on most of the planning on our own. We also got our Photo Booth and karaoke from James, and they were both a hit with our guests. James created such a fun dance floor and atmosphere for everyone to dance to.
Sophia as our bilingual MC (English/Mandarin) was perfect. My family told me she was their favorite part of the wedding, and she live translated the entire ceremony and speeches, which was amazing. She really made my Chinese guests feel like they were a very included part of the wedding. Sophia is also an officiant herself, although we had our own. Overall I couldn’t recommend All the Above Events enough, they were truly incredible throughout the entire process to the last minute of the wedding. -

Can't say enough about the quality of James's work, his attention to detail, his professionalism, and curating the best dance party experience at our wedding!! From start to finish he was extremely prepared and provided us with all the materials needed to organize the music and run of show. As both DJ and MC, James truly went the extra mile to make our day run seamlessly, and made us feel so special. He was even accommodating to our last minute music requests and was very patient with us. In addition to being extremely professional, prepared, and organized, he is such a down-to-earth and kind, genuine person. He even captured some videos of our first dance and grand entrance that we wouldn't have had otherwise because we didn't have a videographer. This was so thoughtful and truly above and beyond!
We personally added on the photo booth option and are glad we did, as it was a hit. His rates were very reasonable as well, especially for the package we got. Everyone raved about James and the music. He made our wedding day exactly the party we hoped for - the most fun we've ever had! Highly recommend James & All The Above Events for your next wedding or big event. -

If you're looking for a DJ/MC who goes above and beyond, look no further! We had the pleasure of having James Lee at our wedding, and let me tell you, he was absolutely phenomenal. He was very open with pricing and recommended certain things, like LED lights, he thought that we needed. I also informed him that we did not have a wedding planner, and he said he’s done many weddings that did not have a planner.
So, from the get-go, James was more than just a music maestro. He jumped right in to help us plan out the timeline for our event, ensuring everything ran smoothly. On the big day, he helped directed guests where they needed to be and ensuring everyone was having a blast.
But it didn't stop there. James brought the fun with some fantastic games during the reception, keeping the energy high and the laughter flowing. And when it came to the music, he nailed it. Every song seemed perfectly timed, keeping the dance floor packed all night long.
In simple terms, James was the MVP of our event. Professional, personable, and downright talented, he made our special day truly unforgettable. If you want your event to be a hit, do yourself a favor and book James - you won't regret it! -

James was a fantastic MC & DJ for our wedding! Throughout our planning phase, he was very responsive and available to answer any questions in a timely manner. He adapted very quickly to the last minute changes on the day of, and even provided us with great advice on coordinating our event. He was very friendly with all our other vendor staffs and the reception games planned provided a lot of entertainment for our guests. The photo-booth and the props he provided was great as well. James is the absolute best DJ we could have asked for! He was recommended to us by our venue, and has been one of the most amazing resources we had throughout our wedding planning process. He is extremely organized, having sent us an excel spreadsheet with a timeline for what songs to play and when. He also had plenty of recommendations, and he even created a custom mix of songs for my husband and his mom to dance to during the mother/son dance. We knew the moment we met him over Zoom to "interview" him that he was the DJ for us, and we're so glad we went with our gut instinct.
By the way, at no point during the night was the dance floor empty. All of the best photography done at our wedding was of our guests on the dance floor screaming lyrics to Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift and Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. If you don't hire James for your wedding, you are truly missing out on the best wedding DJ there is. -

DJ James definitely brings the energy! He's a great DJ/MC for any event that you want guests to have fun at, and he's extremely organized and makes the event planning process seamless for you.
DJ James took care of our wedding reception and everyone had a blast. He did a great job hyping up guests, facilitating the speech/cake/photo/etc schedule, and playing songs to match the crowd. It was a great party.

James is the definition of an amazing wedding DJ/MC!!! He is so fun and hype, he really knows how to get the crowd going and bring great vibes to the party! The dance floor was packed the entire night and everyone keeps complimenting that it was the best wedding/party they've ever been to! James did a great job at not playing a song for too long while we were dancing, and his transitions were on point! He even got my 91 year old grandma (who just had back surgery a few months ago) on the dance floor! He ran the musical chairs scavenger hunt game, and did such an awesome job at making it so fun for the entire crowd! You can tell he's such a well experienced wedding DJ/MC with how smoothly he runs everything! We would highly recommend him to everyone!! -

We highly recommend James! We had him for our wedding and he made everything run so smoothly! Transitions were smooth, he kept the environment lively and fun, and made sure my husband and I were well taken care of. Planning a wedding can be so stressful, but we realized having a good DJ/ MC makes such a big difference. Even before the wedding day, he was very easy to communicate with, answered promptly and was willing to meet with us over zoom to go over questions and the schedule. His documents are well organized and he offers other services too. We also used his photobooth service which was definitely worth it! There was someone else to help run it and it was a hit at the wedding (also so fun to look at the photos after the wedding). We hired James from AlltheAboveEvents to D.J. and M.C. our October 2022 wedding. From the beginning, James was awesome and open to our ideas and very much a delight to work and communicate with.
What makes James special is that he didn’t feel like he was trying to rush us. Other DJs we contacted felt pushy, whereas James felt like he wanted us to find the right person and to make sure we could achieve our musical vision. Once we spoke with him, we knew we didn’t want to speak to anyone else. He was our guy.
We even asked him if he can use specific versions of songs that we wanted. In our interview with him, we felt confident James could get our favorite songs including those from soundtracks, anime, games, and movies that are dear to us.
And on our big day, we heard all our favorite songs and special requests coming from our guests. The way he hyped up the audience and amped up the wedding party made our Grand Entrance full of celebratory energy, and we felt it continue throughout the rest of the evening. Our guests said they loved our D.J. We were so thankful to have him with us to make our dream wedding come true. -

My husband and I can honestly say that James was one of the BEST parts of our wedding! Music was a huge deal as we began our search for our wedding DJ. Having come from a DJ background himself, my husband made it a point to find a DJ who could demonstrate smooth transitions and a confident presence on the mic.
From the beginning, we loved that James provided us with samples of his sets/mixes from previous events. Many other DJs had no demos to provide us upon request and we did not feel comfortable blindly trusting someone with such an important part of our day. Once we heard how well James played and could work a crowd as an MC, we knew we had to go with him.
One of the best parts about working with James is that he provided a comprehensive Day Of music timeline and allowed us to select a song for all those special moments (i.e. cake cutting song, bouquet toss, bridal party procession, etc.). Not only did this help immensely with our planning, but he played every song that we wanted and more! We told James that while it was important to us to play the songs we wanted, it was equally as important to please the crowd and keep our guests dancing.
James did an incredible job keeping our guests engaged, playing all of our selected songs, and even more songs that we loved but hadn't requested. Our guests kept raving about how the music choices were perfect and how fun our wedding was. He also honored our guests's song requests without killing the vibe, which is often difficult to do.
We owe a huge part of our amazing day to James and are so grateful that we found him! -

James Lee was the MOST efficient, professional, NOT CHEESY DJ in the world. James is fantastic! Referred to me through my vendor, FantaSea Yachts he was so knowledgeable on how a wedding should run and suggested many songs for our entrance, soft jazz during cocktail hour and the song played seamlessly when we cut our cake. James was the DJ and MC for our August 2021 wedding at Saddlerock Ranch. We 100% recommend booking him for any upcoming wedding or event!
From our first communication to the last dance at our wedding, James was incredibly responsive and helpful on just about anything involving music and sound systems. While I could tell you about all the reasons we recommend James -- from his helpful playlist suggestions, to his ability to get the entire wedding out on the dance floor for the hora -- I will leave you with what I consider the highest piece of praise. The day after the wedding, James received compliments from BOTH of my grandmothers - and they usually don't agree on anything! One grandmother (85 y/o) loved that he was able keep people on the dance floor all night and the other (94 y/o) was impressed with the sound system at the ceremony because she could hear our vows and usually "can't hear anything." What could be a better recommendation than that?

James at All The Above Events was an absolute godsend for our wedding!
In searching for an MC/DJ, we had quite an extensive list of criteria which included:
- Being able to read the crowd and play music accordingly, not just someone who “presses play”
- Engage the audience, get them vibing without being corny/cheesy with cliche jokes/games
- Charismatic and cognizant, respectful and inclusive
- Within our budget
James easily checks all these boxes and then some! He was basically a one-stop shop for all things we had looked for in a DJ/MC. Uplights, projectors, dance floor lighting, photobooth etc. he’s got it all. He also works with other MC partners to help with translation (e.g. Cantonese, Vietnamese etc.) While we did not utilize his connections (we had our own family member help MC/translate), it was definitely nice to have the option.
James was the 3rd or 4th DJ we had “interviewed” to see if the services provided matched what we were looking for, but ultimately we wanted more than anything to click with each other. The MC/DJ can truly make or break your wedding and we definitely wanted to ensure we vibed. Some DJs were too cookie-cutter, some felt disingenuous, but James was different; he knew exactly how we felt and the direction we wanted our wedding to go and pulled out all the stops to make it happen. He was always prompt with communications and always offered valuable input and suggestions without being overbearing. He allowed us to take as much time as we wanted in the driver’s seat and tied up all other loose ends. Side note: we encourage all couples to be proactive in your music/game choices, not only to personalize your experience but because you know your guests and what keeps them entertained. As with all things, the more involved you are the more satisfaction you'll get.
Wedding day went off without a hitch (thank goodness), but had anything went awry, we were confident that James’ flexibility could have easily rolled with the punches. He worked cohesively with our day-of coordinator to ensure everything flowed smoothly; another testament to his genuine and amicable work ethic and personality. He honored all our requests and played everything to the T. Everyone had an amazing time (as evidence by the videos we reviewed of our guests dancing their a**es off, and texts saying “I’m so sore” and “Damn, we went HAM” in the days following lol). James has a genuine knack for getting people hyped, old and young.
Giving him a 5-star review doesn’t even begin to express how appreciative we are for James and the amazing experience he created for our wedding. We can not thank him enough for being the one-man show that he is. Genuine, punctual, organized, flexible, and all-around wonderful. We cannot recommend him enough. The GOAT MC. -

James went above and beyond to make our wedding day amazing. When we had to replan and push our date out several months due to COVID, James was nothing but accommodating. His DJ and MC services were top notch, highly professional, and he did not hesitate to even handle the Facebook live stream for our event on short notice. James is clearly a very seasoned DJ and read our audience well to set the mood perfectly at every stage of our event. What blew us away the most was James’ versatility and genuine personality. I cannot say enough good things about James! He is professional, responsive, and easy to work with. In planning a wedding during the year of COVID, we were faced with numerous challenges and constant changes. James was kind, patient, and flexible through the whole process. He kept the lines of communication open. As a nervous bride, I was very thankful that he was always available to meet with us by phone or video to answer all my questions and to make sure we were comfortable. James is very organized. The document he sent us to help us choose the music and timeline was detailed and through. His experience with event planning was evident and incredibly helpful in helping us decide the tone and pace for our reception. During the reception, he was the prefect MC. He was personable and charming and surprised us with his Spanish-speaking skills! It was thanks to James that our tiny (immediate family only) reception was just as fun and enjoyable as the big reception we had dreamed of. I have not even mentioned his killer DJ skills! We did not plan to have dancing at the reception, but our parents and siblings could not resist James’ DJ magic. He was able to read the room and everyone had a great time with his music mix. I am incredibly happy we chose James to DJ/MC our reception and I highly recommend him for any event.

James at All The Above Events was amazing! He worked with us through every detail. He is everything you could want, and more for a wedding. He was able to arrange a playlist of songs for the event based on the ones we had previously provided him with. Also, there were a few surprises during the wedding that needed Audio/Visual assistance, which James aided with very diligently. He made the soundtrack for the groom's dance routine. He also prepared microphones for a surprise first dance song. Very friendly and easily willing to accommodate all your needs. James was our DJ & MC for our wedding last month and he is an absolute professional. I could tell right away that he knows exactly what he is doing, and has done A LOT of weddings. I live out of state from my wedding so I was pretty hands off for the whole planning process. It was so perfect that I went with James because he was so responsive to my emails, addressed my concerns fully, and even gave me lists of suggestions for certain songs. All I had to do was pick the songs I liked and that's it. He also transformed the vibe of the ballroom with his portable LED lights and lit them exactly how I wanted, fading the color from pink to purple to blue throughout the portions of the night. He did such a great job MC'ing too, everything from the grand entrance, intros, speeches/toasts, cake cutting, first dances, bouquet toss, and getting people to sing and dance. He was handed a timeline and just pretty much just took it from there. My cousins wanted to MC a part of the reception for fun and he was so on point transitioning seamlessly to them and back. My guests had such a blast that night dancing and karaoke-ing and James even stayed when we had only a few guests left partying at the end. If you want a fun, memorable, stress free wedding, definitely hire James as your DJ & MC! -

Planning a wedding is stressful. Trust me, hiring James from All of the Above Events to DJ/MC your wedding or any live event will decrease your stress level immediately. Our wedding coordinator recommended several DJ’s for us to look at. James was at the top of the list, and for good reason. From our first conversation, James was personable, well-informed, organized and as professional as they come. We had some VERY specific ideas about the direction of our music throughout the arrivals, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. James was always there to guide us while working with us to achieve our vision. Throughout the process, he was available and responsive. When we needed a full outdoor movie theater projection screen and photo booth, James came through. His lighting system was sublime. So many of our guests came up to us to say what an amazing, beautiful and fun wedding it was. I have no doubt that a large part of that is due to James and his excellence. James was the absolute perfect final piece to our wedding. I actually found James on accident while looking for a bilingual English/Mandarin MC and his name popped up. We sure are glad we decided to go with him anyways.
James' organization and professionalism really saved us numerous times while going through all the headaches of planning for our wedding. He was super accommodating to our needs and ended up being the best MC/DJ/Officiant all-in-one package!
We only decided to pick a few songs we knew we wanted, but left the rest up to James and all our guests were thoroughly pleased. The best part was James' ability to continuously keep all the guests entertained and in the loop as the event went on. Use his wedding game suggestions!
We can't recommend James enough. It wouldn't have been the same wedding without him.

My husband and I just had our wedding on 3/16/2019, yes only a few days ago. And we are both so very happy that we found James as our MC/DJ. I would like to point out, that even though he is quite busy, he replied very quickly about setting up an appointment and confirming his availability. Though we live in the SGV region, James was very considerate and met us closer in DTLA at a Starbucks for our first meet. At first my then fiancé, wasn't sure since he just heard what I told him I read about James services online. When we had our meet, he was impressed and we were wanting to put down our deposit to book our date. Keep in mind- not to force us into booking right away, there was another couple already requesting the same date (he showed it to us) and really it was for my wedding date! So we were even more anxious to want to seal the deal. He has different ways of making a deposit (I finally used for the first time in my life VENMO) and we were set. Right after he sent us a detailed email (like super super detailed) for those brides/grooms who need direction (myself). It had a list of a VIP names, to write down your party, and song selection, he even gave us a TIMELINE sample so he knows how to coordinate... and he even has a HUGE lists of SONGS (for EVERY POSSIBLE SECTION, cake cutting, bouquet toss, entrance, first dance, garter toss... you name it) I WILL SAY, I was prob one of the most unorganized brides he probably had. With working two offices and trying to plan a wedding a lot of small details I missed. Nik and I also couldn't decide on certain songs, and with the suggestions from groomsman and James VAST music list. Yes, the day of he had songs for us. YUP, the DAY OF. I literally did not have an exit song, or a entrance song (for dinner) until that day. James also took control of the reception, making sure things were on time and schedule. He also went over everybody's name to say them correctly, when we entered the ballroom. Prior to our wedding my hubs wasn't too keen on games, even though I felt we had to have some entertainment. He finally agreed to a few, one being HE IS/SHE IS, and a scavenger hunt game. He thought the scavenger one would be too messy and busy. And on top of that we had a ton of kids (who James worked with very well!) Well, all I can say is it was super entertaining, James worked the the crowd, including giving one of our kids and extra chance when my aunt (who knew) because super competitive and beat her! LOL. We were all laughing and enjoying and Nik was the first to say he was so glad we added in the game, and that James did a great job. Of course the night continued with our garter toss (which my little nephew won) and which James had a great convo with in front of everyone. The kids loved his music for the dance floor, and all young and old alike came to dance. JAMES also provided us with uplighting, and he also threw in some extra for us. It was beautiful, and he was great. He is also very attentive, and replies quickly. And no question is too dumb, or repetitive. Make sure you provide dinner for him (it keeps him energized ^^") and honestly thats just a nice thing to do, after all he is there all day! James was at our wedding preparing from 2pm until midnight cleaning. I will even end this with a note that one of my good friends is also a DJ, but we had asked him to attend as a guests. And he went to introduce himself to James, and he even stopped by to tell me my DJ choice was great. Thats coming from another professional in the same field... so I feel thats a great compliment on how awesome James is. This is a long review, but in all honestly good service deserves recognition. For such a big event in our life I am so glad we had such a wonderful person to work with. I would suggest him to any couple who needs guidance with making their wedding fun for all ages (FYI: I had kids as young as 2-12 running around plus Asian seniors) who ended up dancing, playing games, having fun. Thats saying a lot when your person can pull that together. Thank you James for the best service ever! 100% recommend, book early don't miss the chance of having him take care of your special day! -

I was referred to James from a friend who had used him for his wedding. With my uber busy schedule, he was extremely flexible and quick to my often delayed responses.
On the day of the event, he put together an awesome playlist of requested and recommended songs. Most importantly, he was able to 'feel out' my wedding crowd making sure the music kept everyone in a fantastic mood.
What I also like about James was his willingness to go with the flow. He supported us when we started moving around the chain of events that day. He never showed any frustration and made the changes seamless.
Would empathically recommend him for any event requiring emceeing and/or music.

Li Sent on 06/06/2018It was such a joy working with James! I'm so happy to have him on my big day. Honestly he was the only vendor that I didn't meet in person before booking, and I didn't meet until the day of. Why? Because it wasn't necessary. The first time James asked if he can have 10 minutes of my time on the phone, I knew he can do a good job. He nailed that 10 mins! He was always available when I have questions. He worked really hard to get everyone's name pronounced right (trust me some of those names were difficult), and I also have a lot of Chinese songs sent to him in MP3. He listened to all of them. He provided me a list of fun wedding games, and I picked one to prepare. We didn't end up playing that game but it was good knowing we have something if people get bored.
On the day of, he arrived so early to set everything up, by himself. And he stayed until the very end. Everybody had fun dancing and partying! I'm not getting married again but I'd definitely like to work with James again on something else!

Heather Sent on 04/09/2015James did an AMAZING job as our DJ! James He worked the ceremony, cocktail hour, grand entrance, and reception and did an absolutely amazing job for all of it! James was also very fast when responding to emails, and making sure that we stuck to the timeline. James was also very good at accommodating any last minute changes (I emailed him the morning of my wedding asking to incorporate the money dance.) James did a very good job in keeping guest on the dance floor by playing different genre of music (Spanish + English). My wedding was on a Monday, and he was able to keep people on the dance floor throughout the night! I highly recommend James as a DJ!!!
