A magical evening

The Grand Summit Hotel was our wedding venue. The service by all the waiters and attendants was indescribable. The GSH staff kept everythingon a on a schedule and our night went as planned! It was truly magical! Our guests are still talking about the food at cocktail hour and dinner served at the reception. I have zero complaints. Kathy and her team were wonderfully professional, accommodating and fun to work with. I 1000% recommend booking the GSH as your wedding venue! I look forward to our stay here on our anniversary and and to having other celebrations with them! Thank you to all who worked at our wedding on 7/13/19!

Fairytale wedding come true!

Kathy and her team were amazing through the whole process and especially on the day. The whole night went flawless and made my fairytale into a real night. Everything was as per the agreed timeline and I did not have to worry about a thing on the day of. The staff at the hotel were very accommodating to all my guests staying at the hotel. The food was amazing and loved all the Christmas decorations. Recommend this venue!!!!

During our wedding at The Grand Summit Hotel, so many people told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. We were so happy with our venue choice. Throughout the whole planning process, Teresa was right there with us - answering all million of my emails and questions. We came to the hotel multiple times to meet with her and see the ballroom and she was willing to help us every time. The wedding day itself was perfect. The hotel was beautiful, the staff were so professional and the food was SO GOOD. Teresa and Kathy took care of everything at the hotel so we could just relax and enjoy the night. They made my vision a reality and then packed it up at the end of the night so we didn't have to worry. Overall, we were so happy with our choice to have our wedding at The Grand Summit!

My wife and I had our wedding reception at the Grand Summit Hotel on December 31st, 2017.
In the months leading up to the wedding, Theresa and her team were attentive, communicative, and welcoming. They provided us with recommendations for a decorator, DJ, cake bakery, florist, etc...we went with all of their recommendations, and they all turned out to be great. Can't say enough about the service at the Grand Summit Hotel and all the supporting members.
The night before the wedding, we had our welcome party in the Hat Tavern. Considering that 90% of our guests were staying in the Grand Summit, it was not only convenient but it was also very well organized. Great space downstairs.
The actual reception was phenomenal. The cocktail hour was a hit...the food was so good that many people ate too much before the main meal was even served! The bartenders were quick and effective as well. The classic, castle-esque look of the Grand Summit Hotel was amplified in the snow of New Years Eve. The venue was truly memorable.
The entire sequence of events throughout the reception ran without a hitch. My wife and I do not have a single complaint. The Grand Summit Hotel was a 10/10, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get married in a memorable and remarkable place.

The venue was remarkable. Jimmy, Kathy, Teresa and their staff went above and beyond. Loved every moment. They were there every step of the way and eased all fears if any. The day of the wedding Kathy delivered! My breath was taken away when we entered the room for the reception. Nothing but happy tears. We plan to visit every year for our anniversary. What a great way to start our new chapter as husband and wife.

I cannot thank the staff at the Grand Summit Hotel enough for making our wedding absolutely perfect. Teresa was so incredibly helpful every step of the way and I cannot thank her enough for all of her help. She was very responsive to my many emails and calls. We had the rehearsal (down in the Hat tavern), reception, and breakfast the next day all at the hotel and coordinating with the staff was so easy. For those that did not want the party to stop we also stayed until closing at the bar as well.The staff is so accommodating, they kept a conference room open for us to work on our DIY flowers and when our outdoor ceremony was possibly going to be rained out they had a very solid rain plan (luckily it was still outside and they set up the ballroom without any issues right when we made the call) All of our guests loved the food and those who stayed overnight were very pleased with the rooms and service. Thank you Teresa, Jim, and everyone else for an amazing wedding weekend!

The Grand Summit was the most wonderful wedding venue for our September wedding. As a Union County local, I didn't want a "Jersey" wedding and had actually been looking in NYC for a wedding venue when my parents suggested we check out the Grand Summit. I was skeptical but my fiance and I went to look and once we met with Jimmy Thornton and received a tour, we were convinced! The hotel has a beautiful historic feel to it and Jimmy is the nicest guy and a consummate host. The whole planning process went so smoothly because of Jimmy. We did not hire a wedding planner but we didn't need to because of how attentive Jimmy was. He was always available by phone to answer questions that came up in the planning process and he always returned our phone calls within a few hours if we had to leave a message. He coordinated closely with our vendors so our wedding day ran like clockwork. I kept waiting for a crisis to happen because of experiences I've seen from friends and family members but our day and the whole planning process was seamless. During our rehearsal, Jimmy was there to give cues and directions. He worked with our officiant to plan timing and the general flow of the wedding. Our guests raved about their time at the Grand Summit and all accommodations were wonderful. The cocktail hour appetizers and dinner were fabulous. One added bonus of getting married at the Grand Summit was that we had the after-party on site at the Hat Tavern so no one had to drive after a night of celebrating. Also, all guests have breakfast included in their stay so the next morning, everyone gathered in the tavern to relive the night before. My husband and I are so happy that we got married at the Grand Summit and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, classic wedding, delicious food and drinks and a great value. Thank you Grand Summit and thank you Jimmy!

"Best wedding we have ever been to!" Our wedding was two weeks ago at the Grand Summit Hotel and every time I talk to one of our guests, this is what they tell me. My husband and I attribute this to Jimmy and his incredible staff at the Grand Summit. We planned our wedding over a year and a half. Whenever I had a question or concern Jimmy was prompt and put my mind at ease. He made the process incredibly smooth before and during our wedding.

Walking into the ballroom the night of the wedding, I was blown away. Jimmy and his staff helped to put my vision for a 'classic vintage fall wedding' together. It was the fairy tale I always dreamed of. Perfection. The food was fabulous. The service was exceptional. The best night of our lives thanks in huge part to the Grand Summit Hotel.

We had a room block of over 40 rooms for our guests which was so convenient and included a hot breakfast the next morning! My husband I and stayed in the bridal suite which was amazing - an old world room with updated amenities. If you book with them, you will not be disappointed. For the rest of my life I will tell anyone I can about how wonderful the Grand Summit was for our wedding.

My husband and I can't say enough great things about our beautiful wedding reception at The Grand Summit Hotel on October 7, 2016. We wanted a vintage and rustic themed wedding. The brick, cobblestone, glass atrium, and fireplace are just a few things that give this venue an old charm that no other venue can top. From the moment we toured The Grand Summit and met with Teresa and Kathy, we were sure we wanted to get married here. The service we received was top notch and the food was outstanding. The accommodations were wonderful and the All American Breakfast is one of a kind! All throughout our planning, Teresa and Jimmy were extremely helpful and responsive. So many of our guests are still talking about the service, professionalism, and the abundant and delicious food from cocktail hour and dinner. Kathy, Teresa, and Jess were so attentive and helpful throughout our entire reception. They made us feel so comfortable and at ease. Not only did we close down The Hat Tavern after the reception, they also let us stay in the lobby for hours afterward. The party was unbelievable and we didn't want our celebration to end! The general manager, Mr. G, and the assistant manager, Mr. Marino, were very kind and accommodating. After having such a wonderful wedding at The Grand Summit, it is clear that they take enormous pride in what they do. They make sure their couples will receive nothing but the best. We can honestly say we feel like family with The Grand Summit Hotel. We would highly recommend them. If you are looking for a classic and elegant wedding at a historic venue with a vintage and rustic feel, look no further. There is a special charm about The Grand Summit and we are so very happy they made our wedding a dream come true. To all the staff, thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts! I can't say enough about how wonderful our entire experience with The Grand Summit hotel was. We worked with Jimmy Thornton who always made me feel like a priority whether I was peppering him with emails or phone calls. Jimmy's delightful personality and professional demeanor made The Grand Summit and easy choice for our venue. The atrium, where our ceremony toook place, was so beautiful and provided excellent lighting for pictures. The move into the cocktail hour was so smooth and everyone commented on the amount of food as well as the quality. The ballroom was just fantastic, big props to Kathy and Jessica for putting up with me all night. No matter what was going on they made sure I had everything I needed and also made sure I ate my dinner. (which was delicious!) They also accommodated our vegan family members, offering a vegan friendly meal option. The hotel's lobby was also a favorite hang out spot for my guests, and they were totally cool with it! The whole building, outside and in, was exactly the look we wanted for our wedding, I would say maybe rustic/old fashiony… but in the BEST ways! I can't wait to go back and eat at the Hat Tavern downstairs and bother Jimmy some more :) Thank you for the best day of our lives!!!! <3 <3 <3

The entire staff at The Grand Summit, combined with the amazing food & drinks, and beautiful scenery allowed us to have the most perfect wedding. Jimmy was absolutely amazing, helping us plan every step of the way and always available for any questions/requests I had during the planning process. Cathy was there to ensure the whole night went smoothly. We were totally taken care of, and they handled everything, so we actually could eat, dance, and have fun at our own wedding. Guests are still raving about the night, saying it's one of the best weddings (if not THE best) they have ever been to. Thank you to the entire staff, we couldn't have dreamed of a better venue for our special day!

My wife and I were married at the Grand Summit on April 30 and it was everything we could have ever hoped for. We had both the ceremony and reception at the hotel which was very convenient since our guests did not have to travel. The hotel provided us a huge suite for the girls to have their hair and makeup done in which worked out just wonderfully. The whole staff at the hotel is amazingly accommodating, the girls needed chairs, they had chairs, they needed more mirrors, they had more mirrors. It was amazing.
As for the ceremony and reception, Kathy and Teresa did a great job with everything. Whenever we needed anything or had questions/requests during the planning process Teresa was there to help and make sure we made the right choice. Kathy was there the day of whenever we needed her and she made the evening run seamlessly. Our attendant for the evening and the whole staff were extremely helpful and professional. We aren’t the easiest people to please and we really had no complaints. The ballroom was prefect for the reception and people couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the food was.
I highly recommend The Grand Summit for a wedding and want to thank the entire staff for an unforgettable evening.

Our daughter's reception, held at the Grand Summit Hotel, was magical. My wife and I have one daughter and we dreamed for her whole life that her wedding reception would be perfect. The Grand Summit Hotel made our dream come true. From the time we first met with Teresa Garcia for a tour to the day of the event we were treated like royalty. Attention was paid to every detail. The staff was accommodating, professional and friendly. The evening was run with meticulous care by the host, Kathy The cocktail hour and buffet dinner food was abundant and delicious. The attendant that waited on our table was diligent and always available. The next morning our daughter commented that she felt she was the epitome of the "happy bride" She and her new husband had the time of their lives. They were able to relax, eat, drink, dance and enjoy their friends. Everything was taken care of and managed to perfection. The catering choices were vast and exciting. The facility was gorgeous with many photo op locations. A number of us stayed over in the hotel and enjoyed a complimentary American breakfast the next morning. Friends and family in attendance gave the venue great reviews. I highly recommend they Grand Summit Hotel for a wedding and I am so happy that we chose the venue and were able to provide our daughter such a wonderful day. If you are still searching for an event venue, search no further than the Grand Summit. The entire team at Grand Summit from Teresa the event coordinator to Kathy the maître d’ to all of the great waiters and people working behind the front desk is absolutely wonderful. We booked our wedding a little more than a year in advance and Teresa was with us the entire time whenever we had questions. She was prompt and courteous in all of her replies. Our guests had a great experience as well with the entire flow of the evening from arrival to cocktail hour to dinner and dancing to an after-party at Hat Tavern. We heard more than once that we had the best cocktail hour ever due to the food that was presented (go for the mashed potato bar, it was a huge hit!). Further, after attending a wedding very soon after my own at another local venue, it was painfully apparent how much more professional and experienced Grand Summit is than this other venue. If I had to do my wedding over again, there is no question where I would have it. I would happily return to Grand Summit.

Our daughter's wedding reception at the Grand Summit Hotel on September 11, 2015, couldn't have been nicer. From the day we met Teresa Garcia, who coordinated the event, we were sold on the The Grand Summit. Teresa personifies the warm, loving, elegant and professional atmosphere that is present throughout the hotel and by all the staff. At the reception itself, everything ran so smoothly, they made it look effortless while paying attention to every detail. The rooms were beautiful, we had our cocktail hour in the atrium rooms and dinner & dancing in the ballroom. The food was DELICIOUS, all of guests raved about how good the food was and plenty of it! We took advantage of some of the new technology available in the ballroom using the candlelight option for lighting and showed photos from both families archives on the video screens. The maitre d' - Kathy, was so friendly and professional, she made you feel completely at ease knowing that the event was in her very capable hands. I highly recommend The Grand Summit hotel, if we had another daughter, this venue would be at the top of our list.

Amazing venue, Amazing service, Amazing food!!!
My partner & I choose the Grande Summit for a) the location for our in town guests & b) the accommodations for our out of town guests & c) for the old charm feeling of the hotel. From the minute we met the Director of Catering, Jimmy, we knew this was the place we wanted to get married.
Our ceremony took place in the Crestview Room with the beautiful fountain as the back drop – it was fabulous! The ballroom was exquisitely set-up with the perfect lighting. We had cocktail hour and our buffet in the Grand Ball Room. The food was awesome!!
From the minute we started working with Jimmy & Teresa things could not have been smoother, with them helping us work within our budget & with every detail that was to follow! The hotel staff, Christine & Nicole, could not have been more helpful in organizing our block of rooms for our wedding guests and seeing that any early check-ins we needed were seen to. We had 31 guests staying at the hotel & every one of them came up to us with rave reviews on their accommodations and the attentiveness of all the staff.
Cathy, our Maître d' & her staff, were beyond attentive to my partner & I & our guests, seeing that we were never without something, walking us thru the buffet lines to show us all the food before announcing to the guests it was open & offering to make us plates. I do not think my personal champagne glass was ever empty or out of the sight of their eyes!!! The detail to attention for our guests was above & beyond what we could have hoped for. Our guests commented on how ever last detail was taken care of and that the service and food was extraordinary.
We planned our wedding in just about 4 months for a 90 person event and our wedding day was perfect all due to the staff at the Grande Summit Hotel. If we had to do it all over again there is no other place we would have our wedding but at the Grande Summit Hotel – 5 STARS from beginning to end!!!

On August 1, 2015 my husband and I got married at The Grand Summit Hotel. We chose the most perfect place to get married and had the most perfect day!
We decided to have both our ceremony and reception at the venue. It was so wonderful that everything was in one place for our guests, and The GSH made sure everything was flawless for both. Teresa and Jimmy are incredible; they care so much about everyone they work with and do everything in their power to make your wedding day special.
Our ceremony was in The Grand Ballroom, and then it was transformed afterwards for the reception. We chose to have blue lighting for the reception, which created a dramatic yet romantic ambiance. Jimmy made sure my family and I got to see all of the set-up before guests entered the room so I could experience the beauty of all of my planning for a year. That meant so much to me. It looked like what you see in the magazines and wish you wedding could be; yet it was mine!
The food is absolutely delicious! The worst thing is leaving a wedding hungry, and believe me, after your wedding, the guest will be full and happy. The cocktail hour stations are so unique and incredible; options include the Southern Station and the Caribbean Station. The dessert stations were also just as unique and delicious including options such as sno-cones, cotton candy, assorted cupcakes, ice cream and more!
We are so happy we chose to start our new life together at The Grand Summit Hotel and hope that you do too!

Our wedding was a fairy tale because of the Grand Summit Hotel! We had a vision in mind when we were looking for venues and the moment we stepped foot into the lobby, we knew our search was over. There is this unique charm about the Grand Summit Hotel that is unmatched with other venues. In addition, the customer service is top notch! My (now) husband and I have never waited for than a few hours to have a phone call or email returned. The entire staff is kind and knowledgeable and they truly made the wedding planning process a breeze! We had the privilege of working with both Teresa and Jimmy and let me tell you, they truly are the dream team! They always treated us like we were their only and number one priority and they both are extremely helpful, professional and creative. Everything was picture perfect from start to finish and all our guests were over the moon pleased with not just the services at the wedding, but the accommodations afterward. Many guests arrived the day before the wedding and in total our guests filled about 60 rooms in the hotel! The food was delicious, the décor superb AND the new technology in the ballroom was so high- tech that our other vendors couldn’t stop bragging! We adjourned to the HAT tavern downstairs for a few more cocktails and returned back the following morning for a hearty breakfast. Everything was wonderful and we are just so pleased with the outcome of our wedding. The Grand Summit Hotel made hectic wedding planning fun and easy, we recommend this venue to any and all!

We got married at the Grand Summit on Sunday, June 7th. It was magical. Here's why.

Jimmy Thornton: From the first minute we met Jimmy we loved him. He's a total pro who takes tremendous pride in his work and staff.

We had an unusual wedding--a Star Wars/Back to the Future theme--and Jimmy helped ensure that all of the moving parts ran smoothly. Darth Vader needed a changing room? Done. I needed to park a Delorean in the entrance driveway for photos? No problem. After you spend a little time with Jimmy, you get the distinct sense that he's as enthusiastic about making your big day everything that you want it to be as you are. More importantly, he follows through on all of it. He didn't miss a single detail or over-promise anything. He and the Grand Summit staff simply made it happen with great attention to detail. He was kind and generous with us and our families (even when they were occasionally bananas), and he worked with us to give us a dream wedding at a down-to-earth price.

The event staff: Kathy and all of the event staff were an absolute dream. Wonderful people, it's hard to find the words to express how much we appreciate all they did to make our wedding absolutely amazing.

The food: We had a buffet brunch, and it was outstanding from the cocktail hour through dessert. Guests especially loved the crab cakes and I was a big fan of the waffle station and the mashed potato bar.

The shuttle bus staff: God bless the folks running the shuttle bus. We had a few requests and Michael was an angel.

The hotel staff: Nicole worked our room block and she was friendly and responsive. Front desk staff was uniformly solid and helpful. My only complaint, and it's a small one, was that I couldn't get late check out the morning after the wedding. It wasn't the end of the world since normal check out was at noon, but this is a tiny drop of complaining in an ocean of good things!

We can't recommend the Grand Summit enough. Our wedding was perfect.

On April 26, 2015 my daughter Anna was married at The Grand Summit Hotel. I can't say enough wonderful things about the whole staff at the hotel and Teresa Garcia in particular. As soon as the engagement was announced my daughter and I headed over to The Grand Summit to see Teresa. In the past thirty years we have had five parties at the hotel; however it was the first wedding. We never even looked anywhere else as we knew this was the best place for us. Teresa could not have done enough to make this wedding a beautiful event. She literally held our hand every step of the way. She advised us on all types of things and recommended a wonderful band (Karisma Music) and some other terrific vendors. The wedding was absolutely beautiful. Everything ran just as it was supposed to. The food was delicious and served so attractively. We had approximately forty guests staying at the hotel and they raved about the rooms and the service. They especially enjoyed the complimentary breakfast every morning and the cozy lobby which encouraged guests to relax with fireplaces, wide screen televisions and complimentary tea and coffee. Some of the guests even came in a few days before the wedding and traveled from Summit to NYC to see some plays and do some sightseeing. My advice to anyone planning an event is the head to The Grand Summit and not to waste time looking anywhere else.

My husband and I had our wedding receptions at The Grand Summit Hotel on January 17, 2015. My husband is from New Providence and we wanted to keep the wedding local. The Grand Summit did a PHENOMENAL job. We could not have imagined a more beautiful day. The wedding coordinators Teresa and Jimmy could not be more helpful, reassuring and professional. They made sure everything went smoothly and how we wished it to be. The staff was kind and attentive to all of our guests making sure everyone had what they needed especially the wedding party our parents. The set up of the room was stunning. The flow of the day was perfect, everything went off without a problem. The cocktail hour was outstanding and the front rooms are gorgeous. The coach room was a gorgeous backdrop for our family portraits and allowed our wedding party, parents and grandparents have a chance to celebrate together before introductions. On top of the gorgeous setting, outstanding customer service and excellent set up, the food was DELICIOUS! Top notch. We also had a room block at The Grand Summit making it easy for our guests especially in the winter weather. The Hat Tavern was excellent for brunch, drinks and meals outside of the wedding. We were even able to get shuttle service from the hotel to the church for our guests staying at the hotel. We do not have a single complaint about the Grand Summit. I would highly recommend this venue to any bride & groom. The service and quality could not be beaten. All of our guests raved about the convenience, the class and the amazing customer service of the ENTIRE Grand Summit staff. We felt like celebrities. I will never forget our day and look forward to staying with the Grand Summit again!

Everything about the Summit Hotel was fantastic!!!! The food was outstanding, the service was over the top and the accomodations were like staying in an elegant country Inn. Guests were sure the vast array of appetizers were surely the meal itself!.....little did they know that there was a decadent dinner menu to be served! The ambiance around the hotel and each of the rooms were warm, friendly and the staff was always ready to accommodate any request. Every staff member of the Summit Hotel greeted guests with a warm smile anxious to accommodate any request. Theresa was a phenomenal venue coordinator and Kathy attended to every need during the wedding event. The lobby itself was like a welcoming living room with a fire, tea and cookies and comfy furniture for guests to relax throughout their stay. The Hat Tavern downstairs served amazing food before and after the wedding ( burgers were over the top!!) Guests enjoyed the cozy pub atmosphere after the wedding was over. A full delicious breakfast/brunch was served each morning. We had many family member stay for several days around the wedding event....they raved about the accomodations, food and eventually - the wedding itself - no one was disappointed and everyone is anxious to return!!!! We all loved everything about the Summit Hotel!!! Thank you for everything you did to make our family wedding everything and more than we all could have imagined!!!

I was amazed at the quality of EVERYTHING that the Grand Summit Hotel provided. The food was amazing and received numerous compliments from our wedding guests, the new ballroom was set up to accommodate 174 people and we still had room for more, and every single server was polite, accommodating, and helpful. I would highly recommend the Grand Summit Hotel to anyone looking to have an amazing wedding in the area; they really made our wedding truly amazing.

Having been born and raised in NJ (union county) The Grand Summit was a familiar and perfect choice for us. I've been a guest at weddings there before and have dined in The Hat Tavern and am always happy leaving an event/dinner.
From day one, Teresa, Michael, Kathy and the whole team were amazing. They were prompt in returning emails/phone calls, gave us great advice on other vendors, and broke down our menu choices so that our guests would have a delicious variety of foods.
Our guests are still raving about the cocktail hour and stations that we had. Half of them were from out of state and they were so appreciative to go from reception, to the fun after party downstairs, to the lobby after the bar closed, then up to their beds! We didn't want the party to stop!
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The recently renovated ballroom and cocktail rooms are absolutely gorgeous. The staff was warm and on hand for whatever we needed. As the bride, they made me feel so special and cared for!
It was an absolutely perfect day and I am so happy The Grand Summit hosted us.

The Grand Summit Hotel was absolutely amazing to work with when planning our wedding, our day was stunning and flawless. Jimmy and his staff were so helpful with arranging all that we wanted for the reception and hotel stay. The reception was beautiful, the food was simply amazing and the entire evening felt intimate and exclusive with just our family and friends. You will not be disappointed with the quality of service, the charm of the hotel and all that this venue has to offer. From start to finish in the entire process, The Grand Summit Hotel and their employees were attentive to our wishes and to completing successfully every detail of the wedding weekend. Guests stayed at the Hotel beginning on Thursday evening. The reception was held on Saturday evening, with a beautiful brunch being held on Sunday morning. The food at the reception and brunch was exceptional. Our florist, bus service, DJ and hair salon all were recommended by the Hotel. All of the provided services were exemplary.

The Grand Summit Hotel was the perfect backdrop to our dream wedding! Teresa and all the staff were so helpful during the entire process. They know exactly what to do and guide you all along the way. We are so thankful to have found this venue and would recommend it to anyone and everyone! The food was AMAZING and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Guests are still commenting on how they don't think there was one thing they left out of the cocktail hour because there was SO MUCH to choose from! Choose Grand Summit and you will have the best event possible!

So happy with our choice of grand summit hotel!! The place itself is a boutique hotel, which reminds me of a large elegant mansion. My event coordinator was Teresa, she was amazing! The day of the wedding everything was in its place and I really can't think of anything I would change. The food was also delicious and plentiful, they actually made a special station for me to represent my culture(Russian) and that was also delicious. Teresa and the matre'd handled everything during the wedding, there was really nothing for me to do except listen to their directions, go with the flow and have tons of fun.

Our wedding was perfect. Jimmy and Theresa were excellent to work with. The amount of food at our cocktail hour was completely over the top and the quality was fantastic. The service was fabulous and the whole night exceeded our expectations. The only potential downside is that there are limited areas for posed family and bridal party photos on site but the lobby and front facade made for gorgeous pictures! Great location for our rustic but elegant winter wedding

Our daughter was married on Saturday evening, Oct 27, 2012 at the Grand Summit Hotel. It was the perfect wedding we had all hoped for. The ballroom was beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was amazing. We could not have been happier.

Teresa Garcia held my hand over the course of 11 months as we planned every detail of the wedding. This woman is a saint! She was fantastic to work with. And, of course, she was there the night of the wedding to make sure that every single detail went according to plan.

If you are going to get married in this part of NJ, you must put the Grand Summit on your list of venues to seriously consider.

We discovered The Grand Summit Hotel by searching on the usual websites - theKnot, Weddingwire, etc. It was actually the first venue that we looked at in person after we got engaged. We both had a really good feeling about the classic and elegant feel of the hotel, and about the quality of service that Jimmy Thornton and his team would provide. After visiting a couple of other nearby venues - The Manor and Wilshire Grand, we decided to follow our hearts and book the Grand Summit for our wedding. Boy, did we make the right decision.

Everything was perfect the day and night of our wedding. Jimmy's team set everything up exactly as we requested. The atmosphere of the hotel is really lovely, from the classic look of the front hotel entrance, the unique feel of the cocktail hour space with exposed brick and outdoor views, and the grand ballroom. The food was excellent the entire night, from the cocktail hour to the main course and dessert. We've been hearing from many of our guests about how great they thought the food was. As an added bonus, many of our guests stayed over that night at the hotel, so they only had to take a short elevator ride to get to their beds after enjoying the party and open bar! We just love that convenience. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was also very good after a night of partying!

Overall, we could not be happier with our choice of the Grand Summit Hotel for our wedding. Jimmy and his team were a pleasure to work with and made the planning process as easy as possible. We recommend this as a venue to anyone looking for excellent service, great food, and an intimate atmosphere even with a lot of guests. We had 180 guests and it never felt crowded. Thank you Jimmy, Theresa, and the rest of your team!

The Grand Summit Hotel gave us the wedding of our dreams. Jimmy and his staff were beyond attentive and accommodating and ensured that we and our guests had the times of our lives. They really treat their weddings as if it were their own, paying attention to every little detail to ensure the event goes off without any issue. The food was incredible, the service exceptional and the room was just beautiful. The hotel rooms were spacious and the bridal suite was amazing. We could not have been happier to have our wedding at the Summit Hotel!

Jimmy and his team are amazing. Everything from the initial contact to after the reception was handled with a level of professionalism that is rare. There were some minor glitches that were quickly and easily resolved. We had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception at the hotel; we also stayed at the hotel the night before our wedding and the night of our wedding. The entire experience was relatively stress-free. Note: The Grand Summit is best for couples who want a smaller, warm, old-world, formal affair (we had 118 guests, all of whom approved of the warmth and charm of the historic hotel).

The Grand Summit catering staff did a magnificent job with our wedding. I have gotten so many compliments on the food, setup, and professionalism of the staff. The catering stuff received a 5/5 for my review. This especially goes to Jimmy and Teresa who were absolutely fabulous.

The Grand Summit reception venue is obviously housed within the Grand Summit Hotel. There were a few issues with the actual hotel and hotel staff. Nicole was very responsive to my many requests regarding my room block. She was great. There were a few people working the front desk that left a sour taste in my mouth. There attitudes, even on the day of the wedding, were less than desirable. Also, we didn't know about a $10 charge to have your car in the parking lot overnight. When we woke up the next morning in our wonderful complimentary bridal suite, we had a bill slipped under our door. Our room was free, but there was a $60 charge for gift bag handling. This was for the front desk to hand out the hotel bags to the guests as they checked in. Again, something we didn't know about until the day after the wedding.

Overall, I highly recommend the Grand Summit for your wedding. There is an abundance of outstanding food, and it's absolutely gorgeous. Just check on the hotel policies prior to booking.

Teresa was the catering coordinator that I worked with and she was great. She was excellent with communication through email and phone and made sure that everything went smoothly. The food was absolutely amazing, the cocktail hour was ridiculous (though I didn't get to eat much of it!), they brought us 3 entrée choices for me and Mark, table service was fantastic guests were really pleased with it because the bar was outside, but the servers were apparently very good at filling up drinks. Our maitre d', Julio, was great during the cocktail hour and the beginning of the reception. He took my veil and my shrug to be sent up to our room and made sure that our toasting flutes, cake server, topper, gifts and top layer of our wedding cake were all up in our suite by the time the reception was over. The only minor thing I can say is that I feel like I didn't see him much at all for the rest of the night but that may have been because I was on the dance floor. I had so many compliments on our venue choice by so many different people, including my mom's cousin saying that he hopes one of his daughters gets married there. The atmosphere is really warm and inviting and the Christmas decorations were beautiful and tasteful.

The most amazing wedding ever! We were looking for something different for our winter wedding. We didn't want the standard marble floors etc. We wanted something a bit more warm elegant and with older charm and we found it. The cocktail hour was over the top. Comments from guests was that it was the nicest and largest cocktail hour they have ever seen and the seafood was extremely fresh! Dinner was excellent and we have gotten rave reviews on dinner and the dessert hour -- there was so much food - and high quality! The service was the best I have ever seen. They were extremely attentive to all the guests needs and our personal service was awesome. Jimmy was so easy to work with and had a way of relaxing you and ensuring you that everything would be perfect that day and it was!

My beautiful daughter, Kate, married George on October 25, 2014. The wedding was at our church in Westfield and over a year ago we booked the reception at the beautiful Grand Summit. Since I work across the street from the Grand Summit and have lived in Union County my entire life, I'm familiar with the Grand Summit and have been there for several affairs.  Working with Teresa was one of the best experiences Kate and I have ever had. She is absolutely lovely, passionate about what she does (so well!) and makes the entire planning process a joy. When she makes suggestions, if we asked her opinion, she's always right on, but never demanding. We learned early on that she's the professional, we trusted her completely, and listening to her creative and ingenious ideas and opinions would only enhance the wedding reception. Every detail was attended to.The menu was vast and over the top impressive. The newly renovated ballroom, atrium and room off the ballroom looked beautiful and worked for us perfectly... we were thrilled with the updates. The lobby, with it's old world elegance, is charmingly perfect. Half of our guests were from NJ and the other half were from Virginia. The Virginians were especially impressed (overwhelmed, in a great way) with the way we do weddings in New Jersey. We had the classic, big, Greek wedding! It was perfect.The food was abundant, delicious and the selection was outstanding. The service was outstanding. Kathy, our maître d was so deserving of her title,she was brilliant.  Our rooms (we booked close to 60) were charming, CLEAN, modern and so comfortable. Michael, Christine, Nicole, Cassandra, Brian and Larry were all instrumental in making our day perfect. If I've forgotten anyone, I'm so sorry! Every single staff member at the Grand Summit made Kate and George's big day perfect. Your venue was the perfect place to celebrate the marriage of my Kate and George. It was the most beautiful first day of the rest of their lives together, thank you.

Planning an east coast wedding while living in Texas was not an easy feat. My fiancé and i knew that we wanted to make the shebang as simple for our traveling guests as possible... which meant: ceremony, reception, and accommodations all in one place. We got that and so much more with the Grand Summit. History, charm, great room rates for our guests, close to the airport, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the train to bring you straight to the city! The majority of our wedding guests turned their 1-night trip into a week long vacation!

Jimmy and Theresa were a total breeze to deal with, and are friendly, accessible, competent, and experienced. Jimmy abetted every single concern me or my mother could possibly think of, and still managed to over deliver.

We had our ceremony in the newly renovated atrium, which, even on a rainy day... was illuminated and airy, and felt similar to being in a covered veranda. Our wedding guests also took over the beautiful lobby as well as the coach room (also recently renovated) so there was plenty of room for everyone to indulge in the decadent excess of delicious food and there was no wait at our 3, yes THREE, bars. No standing around with a cocktail in one hand, plate in the other... and no way to really enjoy either. plenty of places to sit and put your drink down while you enjoyed everything from mini cheesesteaks/pizzas/french fries to oyster shooters, shrimp and a full raw bar, and steak au poive. literally something for everyone.

The food was delicious, the service was out of this world, the staff was friendly and kind, attending to every minor detail and even offering to deliver my wedding shoes to the bridal suite and bring me back a pair of flip flops when my feet got tired! My expectations were far surpassed in every aspect. Thank you a million times over!!

The food was absolutely amazing, Jimmy was so helpful in accommodating everything I wanted to do. The hotel itself is beautiful, and definitely made for great pictures. Having a free room for the night gave us a place to get ready, although my bridesmaids ended up staying the night becuase the room was pretty trashed - we went somewhere else!

We planned on having about 18 months to plan and pay for our wedding...so we really shopped and compared places. We looked at many places and compared their menus and offerings side by side. The Grand Summit, while not cheap, was certainly competitively priced. In addition, included in the price, the hotel offered things that were considered extras at other places: valet parking for guests, luxury suite for bride and groom on wedding night, Viennese table, cold seafood/shellfish display, ice sculpture and coat check attendant. The dinner menu was excellent-including the lobster tail and Chateau Briand entree which we opted for. The cocktail hour was among the most indulgent I've ever seen. Passed items as well as six cook to order stations--two fully staffed bars were set up for our 115 guests which meant there was never a line. The Viennese table drew oohs and ahs from the crowd as well. I counted 8 different cakes, cannolis piped to order, ice cream sundae bar, pastries, fruit tarts, dessert cordials other goodies. Our room was fantastic-a truly grand retreat after a wonderful reception. Champagne, strawberries and chocolate were provided as well. Other high points: single event venue, lodging on premises so guests who imbibe can be safe rather than drive home, covered entry in event of inclement weather and generally great service. Teresa was our event liaison and she was fantastic.

The Grand Summit Hotel has a warm feeling to it's hotel and once you step in you won't feel like you're in a 'hotel!' It has that old world charm to it and really was what we were looking for. It is moderately priced and our guests raved about the room for a while after our wedding.

Overall, our wedding was fantastic at the Grand Summit. The food was wonderful, everyone was mentioning that the cocktail hour and vienesse dessert station was the best. The venue is beautiful, if you're looking for a family environment with the vibe of a bed & Breakfast or country club. The best thing is that they only do one wedding per day. The negative is that when you're getting downstairs to take pictures, or if you're getting married in their atrium, you run the chance of hotel guests coming in at the same time, so it kills the intimacy a little, but that wasn't a big deal. Like with any location, you have to be on top of things to make sure that it all comes out correctly, but Teresa (my coordinator there) was extremely helpful and attentive. The wedding cake (which was included) was from Bovella's Patry Shoppe in Westfield NJ. The cake was AMAZING!!!!! It was vanilla cake with cream and fresh strawberry filling with chocolate ganache frosting. It was incredible. Teresa also set me up with the piano player for our ceremony and cocktail hour (Steve Teti) He was very good. I also used her person for the rental of chair covers, which was at a great price. I would definitely recommend the Grand Summit for anyone's wedding.

Worst venue, food was good but the service was horrible. The person who books the events was snotty the person who makes sure the event goes smoothly at night wasn't anything to write home about.
I had to make sure my photographers got meals she never let them know when or where to eat.

Peoples meals lacked a protein, and wasn't cooked as requested.
A drink was spilt all over a guest and chair and i had to replace the wet chair.
No refills on coffee i had to find the servers.

What they claim to be i would have expected much much better service.
Even the hotel staffs service was terrible, it was almost as if you were bothering them if you needed something or had a question.

And i didn't even mention they dropped off the brides gifts and centerpieces to the wrong bride at 2AM
