  Amazing Makeup Services and Personality!

  Guys, when I tell you Akiyo is talented, she's really talented. As an Asian woman it's very difficult to find someone who does makeup that works for my features. I met Akiyo when she did my engagement makeup, and she ended up doing my wedding makeup as well. She was so amazing the first time around I didn't even feel I needed a trial - in fact I didn't even have a hairstyle picked out until I was in the seat. Personality matches her skill level - 10/10. Her team did a fantastic job w my family members as well. Everyone was gushing about how glam

  Akiyo is a fantastic makeup artist and hairstylist.

  I booked Akiyo to do my hair and makeup for a black-tie event and I am SO glad I did. I was a little nervous about the event itself and she made me feel calm and relaxed. Akiyo is very friendly and professional - a true artists with colors and blending. She gave me the perfect evening look that made me feel like a million dollars.

  Excellent Hair & Makeup Experience!

  Akiyo and her team were wonderful to work with. She was very detailed in her communication with me and also very responsive. My hair and makeup were exactly what I wanted! I also found Akiyo to be very attentive to any feedback I had. Everything went very smoothly during my wedding day, my bridesmaids also looked gorgeous!!

  Book Akiyo!! She is amazing to work with from the quality of her hair and makeup to just being a very kind and approachable person. I loved having her be part of our wedding day as she brought such a knowledgable calm to the getting ready process. My hair and makeup stayed the entire day despite it being a sunny July day and really dancing the night away. If ever I need hair and makeup done again I certainly will go to Akiyo :)

  Detailed and Communicative Artist

  I unfortunately did not move forward with Akiyo for logistic reasons on my end; otherwise I would have. She was my first choice. She was responsive, very detailed in communication and technique, very patient, polite, and has a great portfolio for both hair and make-up (just look at her instagram).I would highly recommend Akiyo for any bride. Hopefully I will be able to work with her on a different occasion.

  Akiyo is so amazing! From when I first contacted her to my wedding day, she was responsive, professional, and kind. We scheduled a trial, and afterwards, I had a few changes I wanted to make; Akiyo understood my vision and executed it to perfection. She was also flexible when a family member of mine wanted to get her makeup and hair done as well the day of. She made me feel so comfortable and made me look exactly how I wanted, staying true to myself. Makeup and hair stayed no problem throughout the day and lots of dancing! I would 100% hire her again!

I’m always nervous doing makeup with someone else due to my brown skin/ability to work with my complexion and because I love make up so have some exacting expectations.   Just Book Her!

  Akiyo was amazing! My original hair/make up artist cancelled on me days before my engagement shoot and I was worried that I'd have to reschedule my photoshoot altogether.
  
  Akiyo responded quickly and was able to step in to help me. I wanted a casual updo that wasn't too overdone and a natural look and Akiyo definitely delivered. Unfortunately she's not available on my actual wedding date, but she even gave me tips of Do's/Don'ts for skincare/hair for the weeks leading up to my wedding.
  
  If you haven't already found a hair/make up artist, I definitely recommend reaching out to Akiyo if she's available!! (..and book her fast!)

  Akiyo was such a joy to have as a hair and makeup artist for my wedding. From start to finish she was fantastic and flexible! I don't do makeup that often, so during my trial I asked her to do what she felt would look best for my face shape and skin tone. She was very patient with me and open to my preferences as well. A few months after the trial, I asked to change my hair style, and she was very understanding! On the day of, she and her team traveled very early, and were very friendly and professional. She did hair and makeup for me, my mother, and my MIL. Despite not having done a second hair trial for my change request, she nailed it perfectly! She also did a fantastic job with my makeup - I got so many compliments on how she used the makeup to compliment my facial features. My makeup lasted the whole day and night (over15 hours) and even survived me crying during our vows. Akiyo was truly amazing both in personality and in her skills. Love her so much!!   Akiyo is an incredible hair and make up artist! I’m so glad we hired her for my brothers wedding. She did the make up for my mom (mother of groom), my sister in law, and me. Each of us have a very different preference when it comes to our hair and make up styles (mom and SIL prefer more subtle make up) and I’m so grateful to have had someone who understood our style and tones so quickly and made everyone look so great! Everything stayed on perfectly all night despite the hot and humid NYC weather.

  Amazing hair and makeup experience for a natural but elevated look

  Akiyo and her team were so wonderful for my wedding day hair and makeup. I booked Akiyo's services for myself, my 3 bridesmaids, mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and my husband (light makeup) and she/her assistants were amazingly efficient, kind, and skilled. I'm very picky when it comes to hair and makeup, but Akiyo was able to give me the exact look I wanted. She was very patient when I asked for specific tweaks and worked with me until she achieved what I envisioned. My mom is also very particular when it comes to hair/makeup and Akiyo's assistant was so kind and patient with her as well, accommodating every request. I highly recommend to any brides looking to get a natural but elevated look for their wedding, especially if you're Asian and are looking to highlight your Asian features without distorting them. I felt like the most beautiful version of myself on my wedding day, and the makeup stayed put all day, despite all the crying I did! Plus, Akiyo always gives the bride a small lip reapplicator so that your lipstick shade doesn't fade throughout the day. I only had to reapply once and I was set for the whole day/night. I'd also recommend doing the hair and makeup trial with Akiyo, since this will give you time to try different hairstyles/makeup looks before the big day. If you're on the hunt for a hair and makeup artist, look no further and go with Akiyo - you won't regret it!

  Akiyo was a dream to work with. I had never gotten my makeup done professionally before so I didn't know exactly what I wanted for my wedding day. She was patient with me, asking all the right questions and helping me figure out what kind of hair and makeup I wanted for my wedding day. On the actual day, her and her team were so professional, arriving early and making me and my bridesmaids and my mom feel so comfortable and beautiful.   An Absolute Pleasure

  I found Akiyo online and am so grateful that we found her. We were prepping for my stepson's wedding and were flying in from overseas for the wedding. Akiyo arrived on time, with the most professional looking gear I had ever seen. It was amazing to watch her get ready to "make us beautiful". She did the makeup for myself and my eldest daughter (15) and the hair for all four of my daughters. We all looked beautiful, and all the girls were thrilled with our hair (no small feat for teenagers!). My eldest received so many compliments on her hair and makeup the whole evening, she was glowing. I cannot thank Akiyo enough for getting us "wedding ready" and for making us all look beautiful. It was a pleasure to work with her! You are fortunate if you are able to book her!

  Akiyo did a wonderful job with the hair and makeup for my wedding! I love her style and she did a great job with the adjustments I wanted to make since our initial makeup trial. Everything stayed up wonderfully throughout the day and evening and I received a lot of compliments for the natural-look.
  
  My mom and mother-in law also loved what she did and wouldn't stop taking photos throughout the day. She arrived promptly and worked very quickly and efficiently throughout the morning and it was comforting to know I was leaving my wedding party in good hands when I needed to leave early.

  After rigorous browsing and searching for a hair stylist and make up artist for East Asian skin, I found Akiyo. I do not regularly wear make up or style my hair and Akiyo made me feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful throughout the entire process of achieving a natural look. At the hair and make up trial, she made recommendations, asked for my opinion and my preferences. On the big day, my husband and I had hair and makeup done by Akiyo and everyone loved it. It was money well spent.

  After rigorous browsing and searching for a hair stylist and make up artist for East Asian skin, I found Akiyo. I do not regularly wear make up or style my hair and Akiyo made me feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful throughout the entire process of achieving a natural look.   Highly recommend!

  I am SO glad Akiyo was my hair and make up artist for my big day. My hair turned out to be even better than I imagined and stayed that way through the entire day and night.
  
  I really like how she enhances natural beauty with her make up skills. My mom and mother in laws hair and make up also turned out amazing.

  Amazing!!!

  So glad I booked Akiyo & her team for my wedding!!! All my bridesmaids loved their makeup and hair. Akiyo was very responsive throughout the whole process, very organized about the schedule, and so detailed with making sure she understands my preferences. My makeup lasted all night despite me crying many times, and my hair stayed through all the dancing!

  Absolutely amazing

  I cannot rave about Akiyo and her team enough. I have been in many weddings before and no other team was as good as her!
  
  I spent hours looking on websites, instagram, etc to find a good makeup artist that knew how to do Asian hair and makeup. I finally stumbled across Akiyo's instagram page and based off of her posts, knew she was aware of how to do a diverse group of people. I was also happy to find that she knew how to do both hair & makeup so i didn't have to do two different vendors.
  
  She is extremely detail oriented and sent out a form before my bridal trial to get a sense of what I like. She includes strip lashes in her prices but can also do smaller special Japanese lashes for a small additional fee ($20). I asked for natural makeup because I get so worried of looking crazy but she knew exactly what I wanted and made sure i felt comfortable every step of the way. They also used airbrush foundation on my face which I've never done before and found that it made my skin truly look amazing and not cakey. The hair and makeup lasted the entire night and didn't fade or run at all, even after I sobbed at the altar.
  
  Akiyo also has great energy and a wonderful demeanor. She truly means the best and wants you to love it. Her attention to detail is amazing.
  
  She takes zelle or cash for all payments which was very convenient as well. While she is based in Brooklyn, she was accommodating to travel to upstate NY for my wedding for a small travel fee.
  
  You will not regret booking Akiyo - she made me feel so beautiful on my wedding day and hope to book her again for something in the future!

  Akiyo is an amazing makeup and hair stylist!

  Akiyo helped me achieve a natural yet special look for my big day. I would highly recommend her for hair and makeup! Also make sure to do the trial -- it was very helpful in helping me decide what I wanted. We even ended up changing my hairstyle from the trial to my wedding day, but everything worked out perfectly!

  Akiyo is simply the best - incredible to work with

  Akiyo is extremely talented, meticulous & so good at listening to your preferences. She is very detail oriented, remembering every preference item I put down in the forms, to what I liked at the trial and didn't. She is fantastic, she was so flexible in our wedding trial, and then wedding day of. We switched our eye color since I was a bit more tan than wedding trial, she NAILED the hair too. Everyone was amazed in our wedding party of how talented Akiyo and her team was. I still can't get over how great I looked - natural but amplified, and MY MAKEUP STAYED ON ALL DAY from 10AM - 2AM (at the after party) still looked amazing.
