Incredibly Delicious Food!

David and the entire Affordable Affairs team was incredible to work with. The food, preparation, efficiency, and kindness of everyone was so appreciated. David and his team were the caterers for our wedding day and everything went so smoothly, we were so grateful catering was something we did not have to worry about. Not only is the food he makes so delicious, his prices are reasonable and he is able to accommodate people regardless of food restrictions. David was timely in his communication and so kind the day of our wedding by encouraging us to eat and making sure we had everything we needed. Our guests gave so many compliments about the food and we had so many people wanting to go back for more/cleaning off their entire plates which made us so happy. Thank you David for helping to make our wedding day go perfectly!

Affordable Affairs catered our wedding at the La Jolla Woman's Club and I can't recommend them enough! Compared to other caterers we looked at, Affordable Affairs offered double the food options for a much cheaper price. I was skeptical that at the price point the food and service may suffer, but that was not the case at all! The food was amazing, people were raving about the chicken, pasta, mashed potatoes, and cocktail meatballs. There was no shortage of food, the appetizers were flowing all of cocktail hour and many people went back for seconds at the buffet, so no one went home hungry. The service by David and his team was awesome and they even made my husband and I plates of food so we didn't have to go to the buffet line. No one would have known how much money we saved by going with Affordable Affairs because the food was so good and the service felt elegant. 10/10 recommend Affordable Affairs and would absolutely hire them again!

I had an awesome experience very accommodating and professional.

After booking our venue for my daughter’s wedding day at the Thursday club we found affordable affairs catering On the approved caters list, I was happy to see them on the list and they were available for our date I attended and event Catered by affordable affairs 12 years ago for my nieces wedding and remembered how much everyone loved the food .
I attended the tasting with my daughter and her fiancé David was very accommodating and informative serving a variety of appetizer’s chicken selections, pastas and desserts. We really loved the food he served and he’s all inclusive wedding package was within our budget we all agreed we had found our caterer.
Our daughter’s wedding day was perfect as could be . The food the staff and the service was amazing, Two thumbs up to the bartender Joe I highly recommend affordable affairs for your event.

Amazing catering experience.

I attended my sisters wedding in November and WOW!.. I didnt leave her alone until I found the source. I thought the food and service was immaculate she ordered the goodfellas scampi and rose pasta combo and it was amazing! Along with the scrumptious appetizers, beautiful table setup, and efficient/organized staff this catering company excelled in every way possible. Couldnt recommend enough, shoutout to the chef i wish I could experience it again.

Amazing food and quality service

David and his team made our wedding catering a breeze! He worked with us and our backyard wedding to make sure we got everything we wanted and the food was incredible. My guests talk to this day about how good it was, especially the chicken!! Highly reccommend him!

Absolutely Delicious and Affordable!

Delicious food, excellent service, and affordable!! David was easy to work with and was very flexible with us since we had to postpone our wedding 3-4 times due to covid-19. When the day finally came, we could not be anymore happier with the food and service! Since we had around 200 people, they set up 2 buffet tables with staff serving the food, 2 drink stations with water, tea and coffee, and also cake cutting and serving the toasts. My favorite was the chicken and the beef from the carving station! I honestly cannot believe how much we spent for such excellent food and service they provided. I absolutely recommend Affordable Affairs for any of your events and personally cannot wait till my next one so I can hire Affordable Affairs again.

Very good meal for our wedding

Excelente work for Affordabe catering, the quality and service was very good, the meal, the several times and the price excelent. Also, the servive by the bar, tables decorations, and at the end the cleaning of the ballroom. Thank you very much to Mr. David.

Super david!

Hiring David from Affordable Affairs to cater our wedding was one of the best decisions we made! He was very professional and answered any questions we had. We chose to have the buffet style and table service. On the day of the wedding, the buffet table didn't fit where we had originally planned to have it, but David was flexible and had his team set up in another area. David and his staff were attentive and provided exceptional service. We asked David for a meat and cheese table for cocktail hour and he did not disappoint (my dad spent a lot of time over there). Everyone loved the food and kept coming up to us to tell us how great the food tasted! We have absolutely no complaints. The set up was very elegant. The service was wonderful. He's great at what he does and we could not have asked for anyone better!

I highly recommend affordable affairs catering. David was great to work with and very responsive to questions leading up to the reception. I liked that we were able to tailor our food and bar service to what we needed. On the day of the wedding reception, affordable affairs catering set up everything efficiently and the night went by smoothly. We were able to relax and enjoy the night.

Amazing Food and Service

I attended a family members wedding a couple of weeks ago at The Thursday Club and Affordable Affairs was the caterer. The food was amazing....so absolutely flavorful and fresh. Everyone at the wedding commented on how great everything tasted.
David, the owner, was serving the buffet line. He and his staff are so
friendly and very efficient to say the least.
The food and the service were top notch.

Flexibility without compromising Quality

David is an attentive and knowledgeable caterer. We started talking to him during the Red period of Covid and continued to work with him through Purple and Worse than Purple (100% occupancy in ICUs). Throughout the process David was quick to respond to the changes and to be respectful of our needs while watching laws and government guidelines. With each change he gave us new ideas and new quotes that were within our budget but offered truly elegant food to our wedding guests at very reasonable prices. Although we never got to taste the food due to the complete shut down, we will certainly look to Affordable Affairs Gourmet Catering for our future needs.

Beyond exceptional in all aspects

David, the owner and ring master behind Affordable Affairs, is a true expert in his craft. When Kelly and I had to find a caterer at a moment's notice, we somehow lucked upon a recommendation from a mutual acquaintance (his main bar tender Joe) and landed with David. The tasting was great! As was the main dinner service. For us, he handled the food, waitstaff, bar tender, linens, glasses, utensils, plates, and all seemingly endless aspects between. Normally this would be great, but add the difficulties and changing environment due to COVID restrictions, and David's drive to have a perfect dinner outshines even more.
Our food was phenomenal. My wife and I even raved at home how good the leftovers were days later when the Chicken was still juicy (not dry) and flavorful. David knows his Italian dishes and knocks it out of the park.
All our guests mentioned how good the food was, how happy they were with the bar service, and how perfect everything went during dinner service. We are very pleased to have used Affordable Affairs and will definitely be using David's services again for any future events.
If you're looking for a no bull expert who's read to work for you to deliver a great dinner experience, look no further!

Hiring Affordable Affairs was a GAMECHANGER

This is THE BEST and most affordable catering you can hire in San Diego. My husband and I went to various bridal events and did individual tastings will all our top caters, and Affordable Affairs had no competition. David worked with us to make the perfect menu that our guests STILL talk about. He has a way of customer service, communication, and execution that is beyond anything we saw elsewhere. We are SO happy we hired him for our wedding catering, and we could not recommend him and his staff more! For any foodie looking for a caterer, Affordable Affairs is by far the best option!

10/10 experience !

We had seen Affordable Affairs Catering on several of the venues catering lists, and heard great things about them. After contacting them, they sent us a proposal. The prices were reasonable and included a lot! We scheduled a tasting with Affordable Affairs Catering and met with the owner David. He was very accommodating and served a variety of appetizers, dinner selections, and desserts The food was excellent and David made the experience so much easier.
When our Wedding Day arrived, the food was as good as it was at the tasting and his staff gave us top notch service. Our guests were raving about the Good Fellows Chicken, and the Top Sirloin Roast were cooked perfect! I highly recommend Affordable Affairs Catering. Our big day was as special as I hoped it would be because of them.

Bill Gates didn't have a better vendor at his wedding

I wasn't at Bill Gates wedding, but I know that his caterer couldn't outdo David. David was incredibly kind. Went over and above to help us feel good, gave us a discount because he could tell that was my biggest concern, and was 100% first class quality in every regard. Cannot express enough how great David was. Oh yeah, and was the food good? You better believe it. Got numerous compliments about the food. It was delicious and everything was perfect. David is a saint and really would do anything for you is how I felt. Can't recommend enough.

David and his team are amazing! He was hands down the easiest, kindest and most flexible vendor we worked with. His team took care of everything! From the appetizers, dinner, dessert and bar. Top Notch Service

As a wedding coordinator Affordable Affairs was a pleasure to work with. They were able to create a creative brunch menu for my clients morning wedding as well as speciality breakfast cocktails. The service the staff provided was top notch and they were on top of everything all at the exact right time. You can tell the staff has worked together a long time and the smooth service was a testament to that. Effortless and Delicious

I Had My wedding reception In September at the Thursday Club In point Loma.
We had seen Affordable Affairs Catering on several venue lists as we were searching locations.
After contacting them I had received a proposal, and everything seemed to be reasonable within our moderate budget needs.
We really liked that he offered a complete package including most of our catering needs, as well as providing their own bar and bartending services.
After meeting with David at his showroom and tasting his food (which was amazing) the cranberry chicken salad was my absolute favorite I wish I could have a tub of that at all times! We felt comfortable in proceeding.
When our wedding day finally arrived everything went perfectly from start to finish!
Thank-you Very Much to David and the Affordable Affairs Catering Staff for making our big day special and just absolutely effortless for myself and husband cheers!

My awesome wedding day!

David and his staff at Affordable Affairs Catering were Awesome! Very professional and accommodating met every expectation and more! My guests raved about the food, We had a carving station of Top Sirloin Roast and the meat was cooked to perfection, We also selected the good fellows chicken scampi which was tender and filled with flavor. My mother was very impressed as David really went out of his way to make sure my wedding day went perfect! David and his crew really know what they're doing. Definitely would recommend!

David the owner, is a true professional, he went over the top to make our tasting and presentation in his new facility excellent. Everything tasted wonderful and looked beautiful too! The options for linens were beautifully displayed along with so many photos on the gallery walls. Great place to plan and see how your special day would look. We had our first and only tasting with Affordable Affairs and booked right away! Chicken is usually thought of as a boring dish - but they turn chicken into food that your guests will rave about! We selected a plated buffet - including salad, vegetable dish, wild rice, some really amazing alla rose pasta, and more. We received soooo many compliments on the food including the cocktail hour appetizers. Their prices may be more "affordable" but their food is not cheap! David and his team are really top notch!

My husband and I heard about Affordable Affairs from our venue and decided to schedule a food tasting. David was very professional and the food, as well as the price, was amazing! Once we hired him, up until the time of our wedding day, David was very easy to work with and was always easy to reach whenever we had any questions or changes we needed to make with the menu. When the big day finally came, the food was delicious and even better then when we had initially tasted it. During reception, many guests approached us raving about the food! I would recommend Affordable Affairs to anyone who needs catering services for any event.

We LOVED David and his amazing food. He was the first caterer we met with for our wedding and we didn't bother meeting with anyone else. The quality of the food for the price was exceptional. The appetizers were fantastic! We chose Chicken Picatta and added a Top Sirloin Roast carving station for our main course and were extremely happy with both. David was flexible and able to meet all of the dietary restrictions that some of our guests had. He gave us the option to add a dessert bar that allowed us to get a smaller cake and our guests to have options when it came to dessert. He also provided us with a bartender to serve our own assortment of alcohol. His servers were prompt and it felt like the buffet was able to move quickly even with 150 guests in attendance. We were brought dinner to our seats by wait staff and didn't have to go through the buffet with everyone else which actually allowed us time to eat while everyone else was getting their food.

David was great to work with and definitely knew what he was doing. My fiance and I met with him for tasting and all the food was delicious. After we were finished with dinner he asked what my plan was as far as dessert. I wasn't 100% sure what I was going to do aside from a smaller cake, but thought I would just get a bunch of different desserts for the guests but provide them myself. He told me he and his team started doing assorted desserts. For the price he offered us I couldn't resist, plus it would be one less thing for me to do since I had to get all outside vendors and had no wedding planner. On the day of our wedding the food was out and ready (buffet style) on time. David personally came to my husband and I and asked if we would like to go through the buffet line first or be served. Within a couple of minutes of being seated his team came to us with a warm plate of food. It was such great service throughout the entire night, and they really took care of us and our guests. We did go with the full catering service and was well worth the extra money. I highly suggest working with David and his team. It made my entire wedding experience a lot less stressful.

Affordable Affairs catered our wedding on September 2nd, 2017 (@San Diego Women's Club.. now Parq West Venue) and I could not be more pleased! The tasting was amazing and we felt like we were immediately amongst friends. We wanted a combination of appetizers and entrees to choose from and we definitely got several options to choose from.The presentation was excellent and appealing. All of the guest kept mentioning how delicious the food was and also how professional the staff was. Since we didn't have a wedding planner due to budget reasons it was a great relief to have someone like David managing the catering side of it as well as the bartending service which is a plus. In comparison to other catering vendors and vendors in general, the response time and detailed answers or suggestions were amazing and gave me peace of mind. David is also really reasonable when it comes to pricing and suggesting ideas for the number of people for the event, which helped us saved some money as well. David was also great at communicating ahead of time with other vendors such as the DJ and venue manager to ensure that everything came out as planned. David is awesome at what he does and provides a truly unique service and experience.
We would recommend this company to anyone!!

David was amazing from the beginning to the end! I had to plan the wedding from Ohio when it was being hosted in San Diego and David was available when it was the best time for me! He was very flexible letting my in laws do the food tasting and once the day came....omg was was delicious. We were a bit behind in the schedule and David kept in contact with us through the day to make sure everything ran smoothly for us. David was professional as well as very friendly and the food was delicious!

From beginning to end, my now-husband and I were so thankful we booked Affordable Affairs. We were planning a wedding from across the country in Florida, so it was crucial that the vendors we worked with were responsive and flexible. David got back to our inquiry emails immediately, and made doing business over the phone and email easy and quick. When we made it out to San Diego to do our tasting, we couldn't believe how delicious the food was at our tasting. Not only that, but David was so professional and had fantastic menu suggestions, and tips on how to set up the reception venue we were in (he had catered many weddings there before and his advice was extremely helpful). Their bartending and food service on the day of our wedding was wonderful, and we got so many compliments on the food from our guests. We couldn't be happier, and did we mention how affordable the price was? Affordable Affairs made me a very happy bride.

A huge thank you to David and his team!! David has now catered two events for me, both with the guest counts in the hundreds and has more than exceeded my expectations both times!! His staff his friendly, neat and very attentive. They all seemed to just always be in the right place at the right time and really took really good care of everyone. The set up was quick and the table displays were beautiful.

Now lets talk about the food...AMAZING! Both times I have used him I heard over and over from our guests about how awesome the food is The presentation is always gorgeous, everything is vibrant and fresh. Can not say anything horrible about this company. I can't wait to have another party to be able to use them again. The food is excellent especially the salmon, it just melts in your mouth.
You definitely will not go wrong with using this company. Your guests will be impressed and think you spent a small fortune on the catering when in reality the prices are very very reasonable for the professionalism and service you get.

We've actually used this catering service 2 years in a row. They did a great job, helping with rentals, lighting, seating, table linens, glassware, etc. Very flexible menu and pulled all the stops out for us with a great dessert bar. Highly recommend.

Jeff and his crew did a wonderful job of catering my daughter's wedding. To start with, they were very responsive whenever I called. They quickly prepared an estimate, and then worked with me to come up with a great menu. Also, their prices were very reasonable. The best part was all of our guests loved the food! And the servers were polite and did a nice job of picking up empty plates. We were extremely pleased with all that Affordable Affairs did for us.

David was fantastic! From the initial phone call to the many emails, he and Jeff were outstanding! They made this destination wedding for our family so easy & hassle free. The cocktail party & food were exceptional as well as the staff. Seldom does one find help that makes the guests feel as if they were being served in a 5 star atmosphere and his staff accomplished this! We appreciate the smiles and willingness to go the extra mile. We appreciate him being at the event as well and accommodating our every need. I had a very indecisive bride (my daughter) and a very tight timeline. David and Jeff put together a wonderful menu, had a great tasting set up and got us on our way in no time! We grew the event by 40% and they didn't bat an eye. We were probably a pain to work with but they never let on and we had a wonderful time. Our guests raved about the food and the service was awesome!

My fiance and I just finished our tasting with David. His food is absolutely delicious and he is great to work with...very easy going and professional. My husband decided to have his office Holiday Party at our home this year. I wanted to find a catering company that could provide a good presentation as well as good food. I found Affordable Affairs on-line and they were reasonably priced and could provide the 'heavy hors d'oeuvres' I requested. The crew showed up an hour and half early to set up and they tiered all the items on my large center island. The food was amazing. My favorite was the Turkey Dinner in a glass and the House Paella. They had eight different items to chose from. I would highly recommend this company. hey are great.

I have searched through many catering companies for my wedding and I could not find one as good as Affordable Affairs Catering. When I called them, they were very friendly and very helpful with building my proposal. They worked with me a lot and were very understanding when I changed my proposal 3 times to work with my budget. I met with David for a tasting to pick my menu for the wedding reception and he was very friendly and answered all of my questions clearly. The food was amazing. He makes sure I am getting exactly what I am paying for and I wasn't getting anything less than what I deserve for the wedding. I look forward to having Affordable Affairs Cater my wedding. I recommend Affordable Affairs Catering to any bride looking for catering for her wedding.

Jeff and David were incredible to work with because of their amazing catering experience. Planning was smooth, professional, and took a great burden off of us, since we did not have a wedding coordinator. David was flexible and responsive to our request for two tastings. Off all the caterers, David had the best entree and appetizers. Everyone raved about the food and service. The servers were very experienced, extremely responsive, professional, and everything went like clockwork.

David took care of the seating for us at our outdoor venue. The cocktail hour and tray passed appetizers were perfectly timed and and subtly executed. The bar tender was very personable served all with the same enthusiasm as David and the servers.

We felt like David and his professional servers really cared about our event. They made us all feel our event was special and went the extra mile to take care of us on this very special day. There were absolutely no problems.

I will recommend David, Jeff, and Affordable Affairs to friends and family!

I had a scary last minute change in the planning of my wedding, only 30 days left before the big day and I needed a caterer! I found David on wedding wire, he luckily had my day available and was willing to move his schedule around to accommodate a meeting and tasting right away. My mother and myself went to the tasting and the food.... Oh the food! It was delicious! The chicken was cooked to absolute perfection! Not too dry, not too pink, but so juicy and "just right". The sauces were very good as well, and the pasta was amazing! His company also offers fantastic little bite sized desert treats to accompany the coffee, very cool! His hospitality was wonderful, very professional, he even offered a glass of wine when we arrived. Now I can hardly wait for the big day. I feel very confident in David and his catering skills and am looking forward to a delectable dinner!

Affordable Affairs provided a buffet luncheon for approximately 225 people. David Tepper runs the show and his assistant Jeff helps with the bids. The initial quote was slightly slow to arrive, but we had plenty of time before the event. After several rounds of revisions to the menu, the final cost was very good for the level of food we wanted, especially versus other similar vendors who were at least 50% more. Affordable Affairs was recommended by a friend, but we had never tasted the food and since it was a relatively simple luncheon (bagels with tuna, egg, fruit and pasta salads), we didn't really need one. However, I admit to being nervous about food quality. We met with David the week before the event and just ran through everything. He took notes, made a few adjustments and recommendations.

On the event day, he was on time and his staff setup everything promptly (they were also very good during the event). Once we entered the room, the display and presentation was great. The quantity was fantastic and the food quality was very good. He followed some specific instructions on certain items and nailed them. I should note that the fruit was extremely ripe and flavorful, which is an indication that he was working ahead of time to secure it and make sure it was ready, I've been to far too many luncheons where it wasn't ripe.

Overall, my wife and I were very pleased with the service, quality, and value of Affordable Affairs, and we would use them again for other events.

Thursday Club

From the moment we tasted the delicious home-made Italian food that David cooked for us, we knew that he was the real deal. He clearly has cooked and been in kitchens his entire life, owning his own Italian restaurant as well. He was easy to work with, and accommodating. The buffet went off without a hitch, and everyone had a fantastic time. The food was delicious, and props to the bartenders for making such amazing drinks. We added specialty cocktails, and David helped us with the planning for the alcohol list. He even added extra martini glasses for our specialty drinks!

Excellent Catering Vendor!

My wife and I hired Affordable Affairs after an exhaustive search for caterers to feed the guests at our wedding in Balboa Park. The owner, David, took the time to explain his entire menu and pricing system over the phone. He also followed up with a professional quote via email. We were then invited to his private kitchen for a custom tasting. As an event professional, I have attended dozens of catering tasting sessions. David, who cooked for us personally, was kind, hospitable and made us feel like he cared about our reception. Since his team would be providing bar service, David offered us advice on alcohol consumption and helped us to save some money on our bulk purchase from Costco.

On event day, David and his team of professionals arrived on time and immediately began setting up. David encountered another event using the kitchen at the venue and wasted no time in establishing a line of communication with the other group. This allowed for a smooth prep process and the food was served right on time and was of the highest quality.

I have been a freelance event producer and an audio visual director for several major hotel chains since 2007. I can assure you that Affordable Affairs Catering provides solid service, high quality food and excellent value for the price. David was transparent, fair and he and his staff were good communicators. I highly recommend Affordable Affairs Catering!

Highly recommend!!!

Catering for a wedding is expensive but Affordable Affairs was by far the best deal we found! The food was amazing and there was a ton of it. Best chicken I have ever had!!! David was great to work with and worked with me in creating a custom menu and adjusting things here and there based on his different menu options. He was also so understanding when we changed the napkin color over and over again. He did get really busy over the summer months (understandable since 2021 was a crazy year for weddings) but other than that it was a great experience. I highly recommend!

Fantastic Wedding Planner

We have nothing but great things to say about David and his team at Affordable Affairs. We had a large 200 person wedding and David did a great job being flexible with our many requests and changes to our menu. We not only liked the variety he had to offer but his food tasted homemade and not "corporate". Our guests still tell us how much they loved our food and thought the variety was so fun (we did stations). David's staff has been together for many years and you can really tell with how well they work together. Thank you David and team for providing us with fantastic service and wonderful food!

All of our guests raved about the food, especially about the moist chicken!!! We had a great experience from the tasting appointment to the options of adding a carved meat station and dessert bar. The Italian themed food and dessert bar was just perfect, especially the canolis! We highly recommend David and his team. Our only critique is the payment method of only taking checks. It would be nice to have the option to pay via credit card using paypal or even venmo (which doesn't charge fees!)

Thoughtful service, excellent food at very affordable prices

David made our wedding dinner so, so special and was extremely attentive to us the entire night. He made sure the bride and groom were served first so that we could eat (so many couples don't have the luxury!) and kept our champagne flutes topped throughout the dinner. Planning is easy with David, don't expect him to reply right away but he always does and he is extremely flexible. Not to mention the quality of the food was spectacular, I saw many of our guests go back for seconds and we hardly had any leftovers at the end of the night! All of our guests raved about the dessert table. His prices cannot be beat in San Diego, we would love to hire him again!

Overall, I would say I was happy with our choice of caterers for our wedding. We received numerous appraisals, and his was by far the most for our money.
We had a pretty big turnout for the party, and therefore a lot of hungry people to feed! David made it happen! Food was excellent, service was great, guests loved the buffet.
We were treated very well during the tasting, and knew at that time we had found our caterer. The only thing we would have liked to have seen was a better selection of colors for tablecloths and napkins. Otherwise, a very nice evening! Great food, great friends and family, beautiful new wife...what more could a guy ask for?

David did a great job on our back yard wedding. The set up was great and his staff was very professional. The appetizers were wonderful. I was a little disappointed with the pasta (it was a little dry). Everything else was very tasty and our guests really liked it too.
