Ray was absolutely incredible and did such an amazing job as our wedding DJ! From the beginning, he was so easy to work with, professional, organized, and truly understood the kind of atmosphere we wanted for our wedding day.
On the wedding day, everything flowed perfectly because of him. The music during every part of the day was spot on, transitions were seamless, and he kept the energy up all night long.
What we appreciated most about Ray was how attentive he was to every detail and how well he read the crowd. He knew exactly how to keep the night moving while making sure everything still felt personal to us as a couple. He helped create such a fun, exciting, and memorable atmosphere that made our wedding feel truly special.

Active DJ Entertainment absolutely exceeded our expectations. Early in the planning process when I was meeting with wedding planners, every single one told me that Active Entertainment was the best choice we could make, and they were completely right.
They handled both the sound for our ceremony at Airlie Gardens and the music for our reception at Bluewater Waterfront Grill, and everything was seamless from start to finish. They even accommodated a friend of ours who played piano during the ceremony.
Martin was our reception DJ, and he did an incredible job taking the time to truly understand our music taste, preferences, and overall vision for the night. We wanted the music to feel like a high-energy concert and he executed it perfectly. The dance floor was packed all night, and the transitions and pacing were electric.
At Martin’s recommendation, we also added the live saxophone, which was one of the best decisions ever. It brought amazing live energy to the reception and elevated the whole experience.
Multiple guests told us it was the best music they had ever experienced at a wedding, and everyone had an incredible time all night long. Active Entertainment was an 11/10!!!
Martin with Active Entertainment could not have done a better job! From the second the dance floor opened, no one left it until the reception was over. I have never seen so many people on the dance floor at a wedding for the entire time.
I have had so many people tell me that it was the best dance floor they have ever seen at a wedding. Martin and I only had one meeting with each other, but he understood the vibe we were going for from the jump.

We had the best experience with Active DJ, and I cannot recommend them enough—especially RyRy!
From the very beginning, Active DJ did an initial consultation to really understand the vibe we were going for. They took the time to get the full picture of what we wanted for our wedding and matched us with RyRy, which ended up being absolutely perfect.
They asked thoughtful questions to make sure the music reflected us and would keep our guests on the dance floor with high energy all night—and RyRy delivered. He worked off of our playlist but also used his own expertise and read the room so well. His ability to adjust to the energy of the crowd and keep things flowing was honestly so impressive.
He did an amazing job appealing to guests of all ages, and the dance floor was packed the entire night. People were genuinely having the best time, and that’s exactly what we wanted.
If you’re looking for a DJ who knows how to keep the energy up, read the room, and make your wedding unforgettable, RyRy is your guy!!!

When we were searching for a DJ for our wedding day, everyone said Active DJ is the company to book with in Wilmington and we couldn't be more thrilled with our choice. Mike was our wedding DJ and he did an absolutely phenomenal job. In our planning meeting we told him a huge priority for us was a fun, packed dance floor and boy did he deliver. I had so many guests come up to me after the wedding who specifically mentioned how great our DJ was. Mike did a perfect job of blending more modern music with some older favorites for the parents and extended family and the dance floor was packed all night. If you are in need of a DJ get in touch with Shawn! He is the best. He did my wedding a couple weeks ago and he was the absolute best! He had us all on the dance floor. He is so easy to work with, responds quick, helpful with music selection if you are unsure, and prompt. You wont think twice if you book him!

We worked with Active Entertainment for our wedding at 128 South, and our DJ Shawn was absolutely incredible. He handled everything—ceremony music, mics for the officiant and readings, cocktail hour, speeches, dancing, lighting, and MCing—and did it all flawlessly.
Shawn totally understood our vibe. He followed our must-play and do-not-play lists to a tee and added his own creative touches and fun mixes that fit perfectly. He kept the energy up all night. The dance floor was packed the entire time—people didn’t want to leave! Our friends & family are still talking about how amazing the music was.
There were so many special moments, but one standout was that Shawn filmed our private last dance and sent it to us after the wedding. It was such a thoughtful surprise and something we’ll treasure forever.

We met with him on zoom prior to the wedding weekend and discussed our preferences and ceremony/ reception style but ultimately we said do what you feel the crowd likes. We hired Martin for our wedding on Jan 18, 2025 and we couldn’t be happier with his service. From our first consultation, I told Martin I was looking for a DJ that would match our bright, disco, festival feel wedding day, and he completely understood the assignment.
His set up for our officiant was very loud and clear and everyone was able to hear efficiently. Then to the cocktail hour & reception, he exceeded my expectations. He made recommendations that I would have never thought about, with lighting, the set up, just everything he did was over the top amazing.
We also ended up going with the CO2 machine that wow'd our guests as well as booking a saxophone player that knew the beats to every song we requested.
Martin is extremely professional and truly cares about his couples.
He kept the energy high the entire night and all of our guest gave us so many compliments about him.
If you’re looking for a DJ, I highly recommend Active Entertainment—they truly helped make our wedding day unforgettable!

Martin was exactly what we were looking for to DJ our wedding at Wrightsville Manor! From the initial call, he was so easygoing and friendly to talk to and made everything from music choices to emceeing ideas seem so easy for us to choose. His recommendations were on point when we needed some guidance for special songs like the first ceremony song or first dance songs. We gave him some short Spotify playlists to work with for a general idea of what we wanted at each part of the wedding, and he ran with that and every song was a hit. The transitions between songs on the dance floor were perfect and there was NEVER any of the awkward empty dance floor moments because he kept the party going. We had so many comments from friends and family about how good the music was and how “we” did so well with all of the choices - jokes on them, Martin did most of that work! I got married this past weekend and we were SO happy with our DJ, Mike! Mike was so sweet and fun to work with and he really took the time to listen to our music vision. He played all our favorite songs and kept the dance floor full! He is great at catering to all generations and all of our guests were raving about the music. Active DJ is super reliable and responsive, and they do their best to match you with a DJ best fit for your event and vision. Highly recommend! -

I told Shawn he had the most important job of the night. That was to have the dance floor full 3/4 all night. He hit it out of the park!!!!! We had so so many compliments about the DJ. We heard over and over, they have never been to a wedding where they mixed it so well and kept the crowd going. Loved the current songs as well as old ones we have not heard in a while.Second main job but not written or said out loud was make MOB even happier with beach music!!! Thanks for having my back. Mike was a rockstar! From being able to have a meeting with him over zoom a few days before to the end of the night, Mike killed it!! Our guests kept coming up to us asking where we found him and saying how great he was. He had little kids break dancing to my parents busting a move. Our dance floor was full the whole night! The next morning all of our family and friends said it was best wedding/ dj they had ever been to.

10/10 Do yourself a favor and choose Martin with Active DJ! He knows how to get the party started and keep the party going all night long. He was so helpful throughout the planning process and gave great song options. If you're able, I highly recommend adding the Jukebox and Upgraded DJ Booth. The Jukebox was a hit with our guests during cocktail hour as anyone is able to choose any song they want to play. The Upgraded DJ Booth really elevated the look of our reception space. Everyone had such a fun time dancing the night away. I can't recommend Martin enough! -

We hired Martin as the DJ for our wedding and were extremely happy with how everything went! He went above and beyond to accommodate the more complicated aspects of our wedding day and made sure everything ran smoothly and we had nothing to worry about. His song selections during the reception were on point and despite a good number of our older guests leaving early, he was able to keep the small remaining group of us on the dance floor until the very end and it was a blast. We got so much more than a DJ working with Active Entertainment and DJ Mike Newkirk for our day! We used Mike for ceremony music and mics, cocktail hour music, and the reception. From the ceremony to the reception, Mike's talent and energy brought an unforgettable entertainment experience that surpassed all expectations.
Despite having a smaller, intimate wedding, we knew we wanted the reception to turn into an epic dance party, and Mike delivered on that and more! He had the dance floor packed all night, making it the heart of the celebration.
Mike infused the entire evening with infectious energy and a well-crafted music mix that kept the vibe alive. It felt like we had a live performance tailored to our tastes, making the night truly exceptional.
The cocktail hour and dinner music were equally impressive, creating the perfect ambiance. Mike took our requests and favorite artists into account, curating a playlist that perfectly matched the mood and atmosphere we wanted.
We also appreciated the planning process offered by Active Entertainment. We were able to make song requests ahead of time through online forms and had a helpful planning meeting with Mike about our vision for the evening.

Hiring Active DJ was the best decision we made for our wedding in Calabash, NC. Kaleb was absolutely AMAZING at incorporating both mine and my husbands different tastes in music (Country and EDM) throughout the night and definitely kept the dance floor full the entire night. DJ Shawn Booth did an awesome job for our wedding! The dance floor stayed packed! Shawn was able to sprinkle in some old hits to keep the older crowd interested and kept the dance tunes coming for the rest of us. We had an absolute blast! Active DJ entertainment also provided lights for during the reception and it was the perfect touch to the dance floor!
Shawn also set up sound for the ceremony and cocktail hour. The ceremony was at the perfect volume and Shawn did great with our song selection!
Active DJ entertainment does a great job of keeping your song choices organized and makes it easy to make a must play list. I would definitely recommend to anyone needing a DJ! They have some awesome packages and make it very customizable.Active DJ Entertainment's reply:

Mike Newkirk was our DJ for our wedding at Airlie Gardens and he did a phenomenal job! We really didn't know what to give him for examples of music we wanted but he worked his magic. My biggest fear was that the different languages would separate our crowds and that's what we really wanted to avoid. He did a great job mixing Spanish and English music for both of our families and really kept the party going the whole time! All of our guests even told us you know it was a good DJ when people were on the dance floor the entire time despite the extreme heat, humidity and bugs at our outdoor wedding. We would recommend him 1000 times to everyone! Besides being a great DJ he was very personable and professional too! Martin was an absolute breeze to work with and is soo talented!!! Martin's music was seriously the best music we've EVER experienced at a wedding (and that's including bands 😉) and we never wanted it to end!! We had guests tell us they were sore the next few days from all the dancing and even 2 months later, we still have people saying it was the best dancefloor ever. Martin asked all the right questions, answered our questions, gave us all the right suggestions, and was just fun to work with as well. He even had all my grandparents on the dancefloor the entire time, dancing to our favorite high school/college songs! We cannot recommend Martin at Active DJ enough and could not have DREAMED of a better DJ!!

I can't stop/won't stop telling the world that Shawn Booth is the best DJ of all time!!! Hands down one of the best decisions from our wedding was locking in Active DJ/Shawn Booth! (shoutout to Charyl Williams at Social Butterfly for the referral). My husband and I have a really rowdy group of friends and we all like to have a good time, so we decided early on that we wanted our reception to be the best PARTY of all time and we needed a DJ who would meet our high expectations - Shawn not only met those expectations, he CRUSHED IT!!! I have never been to a wedding that the dance floor was literally packed from the second that it opened to the end of the night until our wedding and that is exactly what we were dreaming of. Shawn catered to every single thing we wanted, from the untraditional music during dinner (we wanted rock music playing during dinner to start to get everyone hype for dancing - it was awesome!), to mixing together three songs for my dance with me dad, to secretly working with my sister so she can sing me a surprise song for her MOH speech, to fulfilling our dream of making our reception feel like the best club of all time! I am so lucky to say that our wedding day was literally PERFECT and I owe so much of that to Shawn and Active DJ. Shawn did an amazing job at DJ-ing our reception, and his partner nailed the ceremony music. I was nervous about using recorded music at the ceremony but when we couldn't get live strings, we added ceremony coverage to our package, and they did a great job! Working with DJ Shawn Booth was a breeze despite us living in Utah and having to plan everything from long distance. After speaking with Shawn about what we knew we wanted & what he had freedom to decide for us, I had zero concerns about how my vision would be executed! Shawn also got back to me very quickly on any follow up questions I had. We got married on the beach so I was a little concerned about speakers, mic’s, etc., but it wasn’t a problem what so ever! The day of went PERFECTLY & Shawn helped keep it flowing within the timeframe that it was supposed to (big challenge for someone like me that is running late for anything & everything!) He read the room so well & got compliments from several guests about how much they LOVED our DJ and that it was one of the BEST weddings they’d been to! Martin from Active DJ was amazing! None of our guests (all 165 of them) wanted to get off the dance floor! It was packed and we actually had to get on the speaker to tell people where to go next after the reception because no one was leaving the floor LOL. He was a huge part of helping the timeline and event run smoothly. The speeches and dances couldn't have went better ! He totally killed it and we couldn’t of been happier with the quality of music/service that was provided at our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception! When my planner said she totally trusted the Active DJ Entertainment team, I knew I should too. She said they were hands down the DJ to hire and that the entire team will do an absolutely amazing job- she was SO RIGHT! Shawn was our DJ and from beginning to end all transitions and music were flawless- even when out of the loop family members went off script, Shawn made sure it all "went as planned" and there was not a single head scratching moment the entire night! I got so many compliments on dinner music, and the dance floor was bumpin the entire time (I didn't think any of my guests were dancers?) but Shawn knew exactly what to play and from young to old everyone was loving the music. We picked Active DJ Entertainment based off of recommendations and reviews, and I am soooooo happy we used them for our music on our wedding day! Jason was our DJ and I couldn't have asked for anyone better! He was extremely professional and very responsive since day one! We unfortunately had to postpone our wedding due to COVID but Jason was nothing but accommodating and helpful during the rescheduling process! When we had our phone meeting, I knew that I had made the right choice! Jason was so friendly, funny, and easy to talk to and listened to all of our requests! We told him music we didn't like and left the rest up to him and he was just fantastic! He played a great mix of music that accommodated everyone of all ages and he had great energy and knew exactly how to get people on the dance floor! I've never danced so much in my life and all of our guests had nothing but compliments about him! We had to change our date and venue due to COVID and Jay was nothing but flexible and professional. We weren't sure what the dance crowd would be like, but those that wanted to dance definitely had a great playlist to do it to! Jay read the crowd so well. He was incredible! Everyone in Wilmington said that Active DJ was the only DJ service we should look at, and they were right! Don’t waste your time and money looking at anyone else, truly. Active was fantastic to work with, made everything so easy, and guided us in the process. Better yet, our DJ Charles was absolutely fantastic. Such a nice guy and made our night a big success! Literally at any point in time during the reception at least 90% of our guests or more were dancing. It was the perfect mix of songs and Charles did an awesome job. He really listened to what we wanted, made sure everything was perfect, and offered his advice and suggestions from his years of experience.
