Highly recommend booking A Simple Cake for the cake of your wedding dreams!!!
I'm a wedding planner and had already worked with Nicolle on numerous weddings, so when it came time for my wedding, I knew I wanted to work with her for my wedding cake. When we booked our sample cake box order, she made the process super easy and was so helpful with guiding us on the different flavor combinations. As a planner, I had a particular vision in mind for my wedding cake and Nicolle truly brought it to life. I wanted one big cake (for our guests) and two miniature cakes (one for me and one for my husband), but I wanted them to be cohesive with each other and with my wedding design. Nicolle was so patient with me with my (what felt like) hundreds of questions and helped me brainstorm ideas when I wasn't quite sure about certain aspects. We came up with a mix of her designs on each different cake and it went SO perfectly with my wedding theme and color palette. On wedding day, I was blown away by how beautiful the cakes were and they were so deliciousss!! My husband is not really a cake person, and even he still talks about how good his coconut cake was and asks if we can buy another one just to have it again! I couldn't be happier that I went with A Simple Cake for my perfect wedding cake(s) and I highly recommend her to literally anyone who needs a wedding cake. Please book her, you will not be disappointed!!! -

I’m so happy we decided to go with A Simple Cake for our wedding. Nicolle was incredibly communicative throughout the entire process, promptly responding to our inquiries and accommodating any special requests we had. She guided us through the various options, providing helpful suggestions while also listening carefully to our preferences. The tasting process was really fun - I had expected to do a tasting with my fiance at the bakery but ASC gives you a box of your trial/options to take away, which was actually even more fun! We brought the mini tasters to our wedding venue (a brewery in Brooklyn) and made a date night of it - it was an unexpected highlight of our planning process. Most of all I can’t get over how flavorful the cake was - normally wedding cakes are dry and bland but this was beyond (we went with lemon cake and raspberry filling)...we can't wait to indulge in this delicious cake and reminisce about our wedding day a year from now! -

My husband and I got married in Brooklyn, New York in Fall 2023. We quickly identified Nicolle, of A Simple Cake, as our top choice because of her affordable prices, easy-to-understand website, and wide variety of choices. Despite not having the largest budget, Nicolle worked to create exactly what we needed.
We did order a cake sampler with 4 mini cakes of various flavors and fillings. We ended up mixing our favorite flavor and filling from two different initial thoughts and ended up with a spiced cake and vanilla bean filling -- perfect for fall! We opted for a New York skyline design, which is a custom design Nicolle offers.
We honestly couldn't be happier with our choice and our cake was both delicious and gorgeous. Nicolle is incredibly knowledgeable and is so friendly and professional. We cannot recommend her enough! -

I knew I wanted a minimalist cake with florals and stumbled upon A Simple Cake on Instagram. It was exactly the aesthetic I was looking for! When I ordered a cake tasting box, I appreciated all of the different flavor combinations offered on her website! But the coconut cake with passionfruit curd was by-far one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. We had to have it for our wedding! Nicolle was extremely pleasant to work with --she worked with our budget, understood our aesthetic, and was super responsive. She was also very understanding when we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID. Our wedding cake turned out beautiful and tasted just as delicious as when we sampled it! -

A Simple Cake NYC - Nicolle is the best
Nicolle at A Simple Cake NYC is simply the best. She is very responsive and easy to work with. When looking for a cake for your big day, it can stressful. Nicolle made the whole process smooth and stress free. My wife and I were getting many compliments on our cake on the day of our wedding. People said our cake was beautiful, elegant, classy, etc. They also most likely thought we spent thousands of dollars on our cake, but Nicolle's prices are very reasonable. We would definitely choose Nicolle again for any event where we needed a cake centerpiece and you should too. -

The Perfect Cake
Nicolle delivered the perfect cake for our small November wedding. I have heard from so many couples that while their cake was beautiful, it didn't taste great. That is NOT the case with A Simple Cake. Not only did our cake flawlessly match our elegant black-tie wedding vibe, but the lemon scented cake with classic cream cheese & lemon zested cream tasted AMAZING. The at home tasting process was so fun and we knew we had nothing to worry about on the big day. Would highly recommend to anyone for their wedding. -

I will be upfront and say I’m not much of a sweets person. When I started my research on the best person to make my wedding cake, A Simple Cake caught my eye because that’s all I wanted - something simple. I soon learned that simple does not equal any less delicious, though. Nicolle was able to drop off a trifecta of cake samples at our apartment (as we were still in pandemic times), and we quickly settled on one flavor combination. Nicolle created a beautiful cake that sat next to us during the reception! She is very easy to communicate with and I highly recommend A Simple Cake no matter your dessert tastes or the size of your wedding - she is willing to bake up an appropriate amount of cake for your guests! -

Wedding cakes are generally known to not be that tasty. Let’s be honest, a lot of wedding cakes are simply because of the look. However Nicolle goes above and beyond and her craftsmanship shines through all of her cakes. We knew after our tasting that this was absolutely the cake that we wanted at our wedding. When we saw the cake at the wedding we were pleased and our guest assured us we made the right decision. Everyone talked about how delicious the cake was, even my grandmother who was obnoxiously picky and used to own her own catering business. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! -

Nicolle Lugo's cakes are fantastic! She is friendly and very responsive and made the selection process incredibly easy.
She lets you create bespoke tasting boxes so you don't miss out on the tasting process even with COVID restrictions. The cake was just as delicious on the day as it was during tasting. -

Simply Perfect

Highly Recommend!
Wedding cakes in NYC can be exorbitantly expensive for absolutely no reason. I'm so glad that we found Nicolle; all we wanted was an elegant, delicious yet simple cake at an affordable price and she nailed it! She was so fun and easy to work with and was so genuinely excited for us! We sent her pictures of our invitation and she was able to mimic the skyline from our invitation onto the cake which came out beautiful and tied everything together! We highly recommend A Simple Cake! -

Working with Nicolle at A Simple Cake was truly a pleasure! From our first consult to the final creation, the process was easy, flexible, and well "simple" :) We started by going for a tasting where she brought us three different slices to try based on the flavor preferences we sent in beforehand. After tasting them all, she mentioned that she was working on something new and asked if we might like to try that too. We were so grateful, as that helped us land on our final choice, which was a lemon scented cake with layers of passion fruit curd and raspberry filling (a truly personalized creation). When it came time to coordinating with our florist to dress the cake, Nicolle was more than happy to be flexible and ensure that our cake looked perfect. After having looked at a number of bakeries, A Simple Cake is one of the best values with the tastiest outcome. Thanks, A Simple Cake! -

Simply amazing!!
We ordered a unique cake for our wedding of 100 guests. We asked for alternating layers of cakes and a specific design and Nicolle did an amazing job!!!! She was so fabulous to work with and quick to respond. We went to her tasting where she was patient with us. I even emailed her after our tasting to change my mind on the cake and she was so accommodating and nice to work with. The cake was so beautiful and I could not be happier with her and her work ♥️ -

Nicolle was extremely helpful, amazing, kind, responsive and spectacular from our very first email to the end. She is something else!! Planning a wedding is so stressful and using A Simple Cake was one of the most enjoyable parts of planning because of Nicolle!! The cake was out of this world delicious!!!!!!! Fresh, moist, unique, beautiful. I can still remember the taste of the buttercream frosting with fresh raspberries mixed in! I wish I had it right now. Classic vanilla, buttercream frosting, and raspberry jam filling. I had ordered the 4 tier cake for 200 guests. We had the HUGE bottom layer left over, but I’m not sure if my venue actually served it to everyone because we had other deserts too. So I’m not sure about the sizing. But the leftovers were incredible days later ... everyone at work devoured it. The only mistake was I had my florist put the flowers on the cake after it was delivered and they did not listen to my vision. I should have used Nicolle!!! They played Cherish by Madonna as we cut the cake and it’s a moment I will never forget! -

Nicolle was super nice and helpful in our cake shopping process. We wanted a simple, elegant cake for our wedding and it was just like how we imagined! The process was clear and professional. We visited the kitchen and had a tasting session and it was a blast. :) We ended up ordering a three-tier wedding cake in Devil's food chocolate with layers of white chocolate cream filling with "Rustic Linear Ruffle" design. Our guests raved about the cake and we also loved it! The cake looked exactly like the sample photo. Thank you so much, Nicolle! -

When looking for a cake for our small NYC elopement with ten guests, I came across A Simple Cake. I reached out for some information and Nicolle responded right away and answered my questions. The ordering process could not have been easier and the cake was delivered to our hotel where we would be cutting it. The cake was absolutely beautiful. I did add some flowers to the cake but she is able to that if you deliver them to the bakery. We did not have time to do that as we flew in the night before. One of my concerns was being able to carry the rest of the cake back home on the plane and freezing it for our Anniversary. She provided boxes for each layer and little post it notes to tell me which one to put in which box.
As far as the taste, we LOVED it. We ordered the dark chocolate cake with hazelnut cream and cappuccino cream filling. Not only did I enjoy it on my wedding day but I enjoyed it even more when I came home from my honeymoon and took a slice out of the freezer. Just an FYI, it freezes well and defrosts easily on the counter. We cut one layer in several large wedges and one will be traveling to Jamaica soon for my in laws to taste it since they could not be there on our wedding day. Thank you Nicolle for our beautiful, delicious and affordable wedding cake, I will be ordering another one when this is gone!! -

The cake was STUNNING to look at and was the most delicious cake I have ever had. Lauren is wonderful to work with and does outstanding work! I would recommend her to anyone that wants to have a beautiful cake that tastes incredible!! -
