I'm so thankful that I went to A Formal Affair for my 1st bridal shop. It took 8 months to get my dress in -- so don't wait until the last minute! At my first appointment was in June -- right after stores began opening back up after the shut down. The sales ladies are very helpful - not pushy. They never put pressure on me to buy my dress right then. Great service! -

My experience was amazing. My consultant Marissa was amazing and knew exactly what I wanted. I was open to suggestions and I ended up purchasing a gown she had suggested. I loved it so much and I felt beautiful. I had been to so many stores over 20 and tried on over 80 dresses. From the moment I walked in I knew I was purchasing a dress from here. Also the cupcakes were delicious . -

This place is amazing! I had a vision of what I wanted for my wedding dress and it just wasn't working. Marisa said "Hey, let's try this style." And BOOM I was in love. I'm super curvy and felt amazing! I literally did the whole 'shedding tears of joy' when I had the dress on. They have been amazing in setting up appointments and following up with you! Akunna was so helpful in making me feel confident that the alteration process would be a breeze! You ladies are the bomb! Thank you so much for helping me find the most beautiful dress! -

A Formal Affair was the second place I went wedding dress shopping, and I found the experience so much more enjoyable than my first! Akunna was amazing at keeping the vibes positive but being very honest and straightforward at the same time, and as someone who is guilty of not speaking up sometimes, it was a huge relief that she could read my face so well. I found a dress I loved but I still wanted to do a little more shopping (which they didn’t make me feel at all badly about). I ended up coming back to buy the dress a week later, after every other dress I tried on wasn’t measuring up to the one I found at A Formal Affair. The single minor complaint I have is that they don’t let you to take photos in any dresses unless you buy one. I would recommend A Formal Affair to friends/family 100%! -

Found my perfect wedding dress here thanks to Akunna! I called to see if there happened to be an appointment, and she fit me in 45 minutes later. Her energy made the experience so exciting! She helped me find beautiful dresses in my price point and even stayed over an hour after the store closed letting me continue to try on and re-try on dresses. Wouldn't have wanted to experience that occasion any other way! -

I had the best time shopping and picking out my dress, Alexis was great to listen about where I was going, and what I wanted to look like. She could not have helped me pick out the most amazing dress, I ended up going with the first one I tried on. My dress came in ahead of schedule, and only needed 1 fitting for a few minor alterations. My bustle was easy to put in, and looked wonderful! I couldn't wait to put my dress on, and wear it on my special day! Thank you guys for making me feel beautiful and special throughout the entire process, I felt and looked exactly what every girls dreams about their whole life, and cannot say enough wonderful things! -

After trying on about 4 beautiful dresses, she said "I'll be right back" and grabbed one more dress for me to try. I knew the instant I put it on that it was the one. Once the veil went on, the tears started!

Emily Sent on 06/22/2018I have been shopping with A Formal Affair for over a decade now, so it was no surprise that they made me feel like a princess from the moment I pulled into the parking lot. It was so special to see my name on the welcome chalk board, and they sat down and chatted about the engagement and vision for the entire wedding to start. I found my dress (on the first day looking!), but went home to sleep on it since it was a very big decision. The next morning, I called and made a 2nd appointment - that was the dress. I ordered both the dress and topper from this shop. When I returned to try it on and pick it up, the topper was pretty tight on my arms, but I was so excited, I didn't realize it. A few weeks later, I called back to see if it would be possible to go up a size on the topper. (Rower arms) They were extremely accommodating, and ordered a different size for me - they went above and beyond. This team was a dream to work with! PS: My dress had pockets! -

They were much more genuine and down to Earth than some of the bridal boutiques we checked out. And in the end I got a dress I loved from a sales lady who didn't try to sell me on anything. I had an excellent experience with this Vendor. Akunna was wonderful to work with and easily understood what I wanted. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great experience. This was my 1st experience buying a wedding dress and I cried at the result. I was overwhelmed with happiness and emotion. The only thing I didn't like was i couldn't take a picture of the dress until purchase,by the time emotions ran high, we completely forgot at the end. thank you Akunna again for a great experience! -

I visited this boutique after going to six other places and found the perfect dress. Marisa was a delight to work with and Akuna as well. I had a specific budget, and ended spending double because of alterations. I wish they were more forthcoming initially about alteration cost so I could have made better decisions. My bustle broke during the first dance and we could not fix it. Nevertheless, the dress was a hit! Their service is personalized and got the dress back with plenty of time. They don't allow pictures while you are shopping for the first time - fyi. Odd but oh well. -

I was searching for a Mother of the Bride dress and finally found one that was perfect for my mom. The only store to carry it was A Formal Affair. I looked online and saw horrible reviews. I was very hesitant to schedule an appointment (walk-ins aren't an option). I called the store to schedule and was told there would be a $20 consultant fee (pretty much an entrance fee) BUT it would go toward the total of the dress if one is purchased from them. Luckily, we ended up purchasing a dress so it wasn't $20 wasted. While we were there we worked with Akuna. She was nice, and we joked around, but it was an underwhelming experience. During measurements, they measured my mom as a size 10 (she is an 8). The measurements were finalized based upon her "biggest" measurement - I get it. I understand that. But we believe it was improperly measured with the tape measurer. A dress can be altered around the smaller measurements, cool. Well we paid $40 for rush shipping AFTER the fact (because I was never asked when my wedding date was). Plus we were scared into paying the $40 because even with 4 months to go until my wedding, it made it seem like we would not be able to receive it in time.
Fast forward to picking up the dress, I picked it up for my mom because we were getting alterations done elsewhere (where we have been several times before). I signed for the dress after observing there were no tears, rips, or any obvious markings/imperfections.
Fast forward again to 3/4/19, my mom goes to the alterations lady we use and tells us the dress is not made well/isn't good quality. The zipper is too long which is causing the dress zipper to pucker and the dress is SWIMMING on my mom. She should have gotten her true size, an 8. So on top of spending $40 for rush shipping, and $20 for a consultant fee, my mom now has to pay for about 5 different things to be altered because a poor quality dress.
Fast forward to today, 3/5/19, I called A Formal Affair and speak to Akuna. She had a great memory of the events that took place in December when we were there. However, we hung up without resolution. There was no compensation. Nothing. I am very aware she didn't hand sew the dress herself but they should 110% stand behind their product. Akuna offered to go with us to our alteration lady to assist in how a dress should be altered - NO! Our alteration's lady alters outfits ALL DAY M-Sat, she doesn't need assisting. And then I also received an offer to go into A Formal Affair and use their alterations lady, but no thank you, don't want to waste any more time or money there. I will say, Akuna was very professional on the phone, and she is very nice...
If you are reading this review, thinking if you should step foot in the store because it might not be as bad as the person before....think again! Save yourself the trouble, and possible upsetting reality of a poorly made dress.
Edit: The night of my wedding, my mom's dress kept unraveling. The thread from the sequin work was coming UNDONE!! When I called the store about it, they suggested it was our alterations seamstress. I was appalled by the suggestion, seeing as how our seamstress altered my WEDDING DRESS and my dress had sequins and beading and thread and it stayed in perfect condition.

I made a purchase from this salon on June 6th 2020. My wedding is on March 28, 2021. I still have NOT received the dress I ordered from A Formal Affair, a month before my wedding. I ordered a standard Morilee gown which typically takes 3/4 months to get to the consumer from the factory. In December, when I had not received this gown, I started reaching out to the store for shipping details. Akunna, the owner, assured me that because I had NOT heard anything, that was good news and the dress was still on schedule to be shipped on Jan 8th. I followed up on January 10th to get tracking info, She said, bridal purchases are not like regular purchases and therefore no tracking info could be provided but confirmed that it indeed shipped and will arrive in 10-15 business days. After 20 business days, I had to call AGAIN (the store never reached out to me once for updates). Akunna stated my dress was damaged by USPS and sent back to the factory. I was very skeptical of this but chose to believe her since it was nearing my wedding date. She assured me the dress was being remade and would be overnighted and That i should receive the dress in the first week in February. At the end of the first week in February, I called AGAIN, (still no one from the store reached out to me) and guess what? This time my dress got caught up in “customs” and unfortunately that’s beyond her control. At this point she was unable to provide me any details on when the dress would arrive. I called multiple times and she was very vague on the ETA. On Valentine’s Day, I called her 3 times! She never answered my call. My fiancé called ONCE and miraculously she answered! She gave us a 100% guarantee that the dress would arrive on Feb 19th and worst case Feb 22nd. She claimed MoriLee (an extremely well known bridal manufacturer) was vague with her and would not provide her any details. Absolute BS! but we accepted the information and opted out of Plan B to find a backup dress. I called over 10 bridal salons who are retailers for MoriLee inquiring about that gown; They all could tell me at ease which sizes were available for immediate shipping. They all said the dress was available in ivory in a size 10 for immediate shipping. If I wanted it in white (which I did) it would take 3/4 months and were able to provide an EXACT receipt date. My mom and mother in law each called retailers in Florida and Missouri, they all Said the same thing! Why is A Formal Affair literally the only retailer who does not have this readily available information? Other retailers told me Morilee is very professional and provides details upon request. They also confirmed Morilee would also provide tracking info for any of their dresses. I actually called Morilee myself to ask in general if they would provide tracking details for dresses shipped and they too, confirmed they would!
So here’s the final straw. Akunna called me on Friday, Feb 19th saying my dress had finally shipped and confirmed it will be delivered to the boutique on Monday. I scheduled an appointment for me and my MOH to pick the dress up on Tuesday morning at 9:30am. At damn near 10pm on Monday night, Akunna called me and said unfortunately the dress did NOT arrive, it had been “seized” by the government, she has no tracking info and I probably should start looking for other dresses! Mind you, at this point it’s approx 30 days before my wedding!!! I was devastated and beyond pissed. Sick of all of her lies and excuses. Fortunately, My bridesmaids got together and called every bridal boutique around Georgia until they found the gown in my size. The price was literally $1000 cheaper than what A Formal Affair charged me. Though, I had to pay nearly $800 dollars for alterations because it had to be rushed! When asked for a refund, Akunna sent me an email asking me to send her a proof of purchase from the other salon as well as a picture of me in the gown in order for the refund to be issued! 😂 I have about had it with her! Future brides: RUN!!! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS SALON! -

My daughter, order her dress at a Formal Affair bridal. The dress was paid in full June 14,2020.
Since January 8 ,2021 . It been one incident after another why the dress is not here. Friday she called my daughter with good news her dress will be here on Monday. Monday night at 9:30pm she call with a new lie, the dress is now stuck in customs. Today I been calling here for a refund or to help locate a dress in Florida where I live . But she never answered the phone or return call back . My daughter wedding next month she never got her dress or money refunded. Or any assistance to purchase a new dress. We not the only bride she has done this too . Please don’t not loose your money. If like more information before you give away your money. Call me personally.
