Josh and his assistant Brittany made our wedding day a PARTY. Leading up to our wedding day, Josh provided us with an app where we could upload all our special songs and make any requests for other aspects of the day. 860 events provided music and mics for our ceremony and were able to use solar to power the equipment instead of plugging into the grid. The quality of the audio at our outdoor ceremony was excellent. Josh absolutely nailed the vibe we were looking for at our reception and kept the dance floor hopping all night. He was communicative about the timing of speeches and helped our best man/matron of honor feel at ease with the mic. 860 events also provided a photobooth which was great entertainment for all our guests. Josh has a great DJ voice and did an excellent job balancing the need for occasional announcements without interrupting the flow of the party. -

We enjoyed working with this company. The 860 Team was immediately one of our top choices. We wanted to outsource entertainment for our LI wedding since most of the locals are overly expensive, and even with the extra mileage on their invoice, the value to choose from was an obvious choice. Josh and crew arrived a couple hours ahead of the ceremony to start unloading, and somehow their setup was finished and running well in advance of guests arriving, maybe took them 15 minutes tops. They kept our friends and family entertained the entire night and were a pleasure to speak with any time we had a question or needed something. -

Lexi Sent on 09/25/2018I just wanted to start by saying thank you for your quick thinking and help on the big day- you definitely moved the venue into gear and I appreciate that. Overall we really loved you guys- the photo booth was a HUGE hit and josh and Julia you made the ride easy.
I know I booked very far in advance but I wish there was a little more communication especially when using active collab- I had posted updated things and can see they uploaded but on the big day, a lot of the things we had filled out was not followed. I had asked for no rap or swears even if it was requested and that’s what played a lot. Also, I was under the impression that Josh would be our DJ not the MC and the person who dj’d we’d never met before. I wish we had gotten the chance to meet up with him and talked over what we wanted and didn’t want bc I feel like I would have had no complaints if that was the case. And although I was wrapped up in the big day and didn’t notice it too much, I did realize that transitions were pretty rough, even when it was requested songs. Overall, like I said we were happy with you guys which is why I still want to give a good review-there were just the few things that have been on the back of my mind. -

From the start Josh sounded promising, until we hired him. He then began to go MIA on us, from missing Skype calls, to taking three weeks to answer an email. The active collab app was not very user friendly and never seemed to work properly. We did not hear from josh about final wedding details until the day before the wedding. He initially made it sound as if there was a large team that would be working with us and getting to know us throughout the process. That was not the case. On the wedding day josh forgot an extension cord for our outdoor ceremony so the ceremony start time was delayed. The microphones then kept cutting in and out so the guests could not hear any of what was being said for the ceremony. Instead of cutting the mics off completely he let the sound go in and out. He then played the karaoke version of the father daughter dance song so there were no words. Instead of apologizing for it he blamed me saying I uploaded the karaoke version to active collab, which I did not. He also complained to me that he lost $1000 worth of equipment in the rain. The only saving grace was the photo booth that he provided. I wish I could write a better review but there are some major problems that need to be addressed.860 Events's reply:

Thank you for your time and the opportunity to work with you. Your wedding was absolutely beautiful, and it was a pleasure to be a part of it. I especially appreciate your feedback about ActiveCollab, and will be taking it into consideration as we search for a better, more reliable client management system.
I'm very sorry to hear that you were disappointed in my responsiveness prior to your wedding. While I take every effort to be as responsive as possible, and have never missed a Skype call with any client, you probably recall one of our phone discussions (two weeks prior to your wedding, not the day before as you allege) where I explained that I had spent time in the hospital due to a car accident. This happened within the month leading up to your wedding, which is also when you decided to start submitting the information we need for planning. My team was present (behind the scenes) to assist with setup and teardown at your venue, and worked to finalize logistics and creation of your music library in the days prior to then, however it's very important to most clients that they have a direct relationship with the DC/MC that will be performing for them, and that is what we had. While none of us can control the circumstances leading to my time out of the office, I must point out that if you began the planning process with us sooner than the month before your wedding, you would have enjoyed the same responsiveness and interactive experience all of our clients enjoy. I'm sorry you did not get the best experience with me, however, when it's looked at fairly, this is not in any way a regular issue with my company or my work.
As for the rest of your points, I do apologize that you were unhappy, but there is very little I could control given the circumstances. To be fair, the venue should have moved your ceremony indoors and not "chanced it" with the scattered rainfall that your guests experienced. The rain caused the delay of your ceremony, as your venue was wiping down the seats with towels well past the last minute, which also delayed the delivery of the extension cord (that was their responsibility to provide). The rainfall also caused the sound to cut in and out from the speakers which were exposed to the elements. I have no control over the weather, nor do I have any say in where the venue chooses to have the ceremony, but I fulfilled my contractual obligation to provide ceremony sound to the location nonetheless. I never complained about this. I made the decision to keep the microphones on because the speakers were affected by the rain but the microphones were not. Your videographers were recording sound from our mics, and to turn it off would have caused what I thought to be a more permanent loss of the recorded memories from your ceremony. Without our mics remaining on, it seemed that you'd have no sound on your video. Keeping the mics on was a professional courtesy, not something I ever imagined I'd be blamed for.
To be perfectly fair, in regards to your father/daughter dance, this was actually rectified while the song played. The karaoke version was the version you picked from YouTube using our music selection app. While I had no control over that, I was quick to fix the issue, seamlessly transitioning to the version with lyrics, long before the dance even ended. Contrary to your comment regarding blaming you for what happened, we maintain a strictly professional decorum in our company. By that rule, we never put blame on anyone, certainly never on our client. I apologized for the mixup at the time and did not point fingers, but it seems clear from your words that you are already aware of what caused that issue.
I'm always very pleased to receive feedback, positive or negative, that allows me to better our services for the future. We serve our clients, and that is why we strive to improve ourselves everywhere we feasibly can. I thank you for the parts of your reflection that help us better ourselves into the future. I am also disappointed that the majority of your feedback discusses things you were displeased with that were never within our control.
