AND BOOK 501 UNION RIGHT NOW!!!
501 Union was the perfect venue for our wedding. We absolutely fell in love with the space; it's beautiful even without any decorations. The package was comprehensive and way better than a lot of other venues we looked at. The value you get for this space is amazing. From the moment we first reached out, the team's communication was prompt, enthusiastic, and warm. Our venue coordinator changed during the process but the transition to our new coordinator was completely smooth and nothing was lost. Andrea and the staff were so on top of everything; they went above and beyond to ensure the space was gorgeous, clean, and perfectly set up. We were blown away by the space the day of and how accommodating the team was with all of our requests. They seriously could not have made the space any more inviting and welcoming. We are SO grateful to 501 Union for helping make our wedding day everything we dreamed of. Thank you!!!!! -

When we got engaged, we instantly knew 501 Union was where we wanted to host our big day. Andrea was an extremely communicative point of contact for any questions we had before booking. The process of touring the space was smooth and left us reassured this venue was everything we wanted. The day of the wedding came and went extremely smoothly with no hiccups. As a wedding vendor myself, I hear horror stories about venues having lots of hidden fees or stress after booking, and there were no surprises or stressors the entire time. 501 Union was the perfect choice for us! The space is beautiful on its own and is a great canvas for adding your personal touches. We loved that there were different spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception on site, making it super easy for us and our guests. Andrea and the staff at 501 Union were great to work with! It was so easy to schedule a tour when we were looking at venues and they gave us so much helpful information that made the choice an easy one. As the planning went on, Andrea was helpful in answering questions as they came up and working with us to ensure the day was perfect! Definitely recommend! -

My husband and I got married at 501 Union almost 2 weeks ago. Choosing 501 Union as our wedding venue was hands down one the best decisions we made. From the moment we walked into space during an open house nearly 2 years ago we knew immediately we had found the perfect wedding venue. The space itself is absolutely stunning and perfect for the moody and romantic vibe we were aiming for. Not to mention that the staff was phenomenal from the very beginning. Andrea Clinton was our event manager, and she worked with us and supported us every step of the way from the moment we booked the venue to the day of the wedding. Her hospitality is unmatched. From countless emails, many open house visits, and virtual meetings Andrea was there making sure we had everything we needed. Dave Renaud also worked as our operations manager during the wedding and he made day of set up and breakdown seamless. Dave was there every step of the way to serve as a second point of contact and was always present during open houses to work through logistics with us. Overall the venue exceded our expectations. For anyone looking a unique and beautiful NYC venue with great staff, this is the place for you! -

501 Union provided us with a memorable, elegant venue to host our wedding in the city we love.
In addition to being conveniently accessible for us as Prospect Heights locals and our New York-based friends and family, 501 Union also provided our out-of-town visitors with the perfect taste of Brooklyn cool. We hoped to show our guests the world-class aesthetics and attention to detail that New York City is known for, while also throwing the kind of bangers-only dance party we fell in love with at popular clubs and intimate house parties in the early days of our relationship.
The dark-wood and brass-fixtures look of the venue reassured us that it would feel elegant and classic. But the eclectic and eye-catching wallpapers added a delicate, subtly classy eccentricity that really made the pasty feel unique. For example, the green-and-silver leaf pattern in the cocktail lounge made a great background for pictures and the silver textured waves in the main room came alive with flashes of light and colored reflections when we turned down the lights for dancing!
We also found many of our vendors through 501 Union’s recommended vendors list and were largely satisfied with the recommendations made and the standards to which 501 holds those vendors it recommends as partners. It greatly reassured us to have a team of disparate vendors who nevertheless knew each other and how to work within the given space.
The staff at 501 Union were super helpful throughout the process as well. From their hardworking bartenders amazing hustle during the actual wedding, to our venue contact Abby’s prompt and consistent responses throughout the process. Occasionally another vendor would miss a meeting or drop a ball, but Abby was consistently pitch-perfect professional the entire time we worked together, which provided us with a much-needed sense of stability throughout the process.

501 Union came as a top recommendation from professional wedding photographer and good friend Adam Ciccarino, and we are so glad we took him up on this. 501 Union was nothing short of incredible from start to finish when it came to planning our dream wedding. In particular, Andrea Clinton was always responsive when it came to emails, always had a quick and efficient solution for any issues that came up (which, honestly, none really did, which says so much about their organization and professionalism), and truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Even almost 2 weeks later, our guests are still telling us how absolutely beautiful the venue looked on our big day, and how polite, nice and accommodating the staff were. I highly recommend 501 Union, you definitely won't regret it. -

Absolutely loved this venue. This was the first venue we toured and we knew that we had to book it. They were kind and accommodating from start to finish. They were the perfect space for our food truck wedding with around 110 guests. The staff were professional and helped the day go seamlessly. Would 100% book again! -

We got married in early March of 2024 at 501 Union. The space is a total show-stopper and several of our guests raved about the space throughout our wedding. We love the whole space, but if we had to shout out a few of our favorite things they would be the farm tables, the disco ball, their two bars, and the light fixtures!
Now I want to shout out their staff - seriously everyone who worked at our wedding from 501 were so sweet. Also, we chose vendors recommended by or who partner with 501 and we loved every single one of them. -

We can't imagine getting married anywhere else. The venue is so Brooklyn chic and much different than your cookie cutter ballroom wedding (which is exactly what we wanted). The three different rooms (atrium, bar and reception) was the perfect layout for having one big party with a space for ceremony, cocktail and dinner and dancing. Andrea was great to work with over the last year and a half and the 501 Union staff is truly top notch. Best weekend of our lives! -

We booked our July 2023 wedding here at 501 union and can whole heartedly say we would recommend the space to anyone looking for a beautiful space to make their own. We planned our wedding from out of state, and this proved to be be a non issue for the staff as they easily set up phone call and zoom sessions with us and our coordinator. We felt the pricing and expectations for what was available and offered to us clear and well explained. This is an amazing space that is essentially a beautiful blank canvas, meaning you can do as much or as little as you wish here. Our day of coordinator helped us secure many vendors to fulfill all the duties of the space, almost all who had worked events here before and had nothing but good things to say.
When the day of arrived, we were given free reign of the space and politely checked in with every few hours to see if we needed anything on their end. When the wedding kicked into full gear we had a small unexpected hiccup (outside their control), which they promptly worked to fix and followed up with us after the wedding. I really felt they did an amazing job with customer service and providing a clean, open space to make our dreams a reality.
We brought in two food trucks, and two drop off catering to which the space lended well. The house bar staff was great and the whole day truly was a dream.
TLDR; This is an amazing space, that really lets you fulfill all of your DIY dreams. It's beautiful enough on its own, but lends well to any additions you want to bring in. The house staff was great and we would definitely recommend to friends and family! -

After initially booking with the Green Building across the street, and the unfortunate circumstance of it closing down, we explored other options in Brooklyn before quickly realizing there was no better deal than 501! We (and our guests) loved the cool Brooklyn vibe of the place, and despite all the current construction in the area (we didn't even bat an eye at it on our wedding day!), had the best day ever. Abby, Alexandra and the team accommodated several site visits, when we were first trasferring our contract and when our parents came to town and wanted to see the place. They also scheduled a bar tasting for us so we could sample the wines and cocktails before settling on our bar package! The day of ran so smoothly and the entire staff was so nice and accommodating, we just felt so supported and at ease. All of their recommendations for vendors were on point, and we got to keep our ice cream truck for dessert! Overall, great team, great experience, great value for Brooklyn! -

Incredible experience with 501 Union!
I thoroughly enjoyed having my wedding at 501 Union! Not only is it a beautiful contemporary space but the staff was wonderful to work with. They were very responsive, detailed, and accommodating. On the day of my wedding, we got to the venue early to take a few couples portraits and they had a fun playlist going, offered us glasses of champagne, and created a stress-free atmosphere. It was perfect from start to finish. HIGH RECOMMEND! -

We visited 501 Union and loved it. We wanted to be sure before we booked it so we quickly did visits with a few other venues and we're thrilled when we realized that we were right- 501 Union was far beyond what any other space offered. The staff was fabulous (Abby in particular!) and they made our day perfect down to the tiniest detail. We couldn't imagine our day being anywhere else. -

My now-wife and I looked around at many different venues, before choosing 501 Union for our wedding on September 12th. We loved everything about the venue, from the ambiance, the chic styling and design, to the staff that really helped make our wedding happen, but most of all, Andrea, who really went truly above and beyond to make our wedding day picture perfect! I truly can't say enough good things about Andrea. We couldn't have asked for a better venue manager and we're forever grateful to her for making our wedding even better than we hoped! -

It was love at first sight. As soon as I walked into 501 Union - after running around brooklyn and long island city in search of the perfect venue - I fell in love. I knew we had to get married here. It truly was a dream wedding for us, and we have to thank the 501 Union team who helped us achieve our vision. What was important for us when it came to our venue: 1) Overall vibe of the place. We were looking for "romantic," "moody," "chic," vibe - and this place was it! Especially because our wedding was in December, the venue helped turn our wedding into an intimate, cozy, romantic, beautiful ceremony. We decorated with flowers and many candles. The space was convenient for our guests, because the cocktail hour, the ceremony, and the main dining area were all in one place. Our guests commented how easy it was for them to move around the space throughout the night. 2) The flexibility to really design and play around the space to our liking. So I guess this really depends on what kind of a bride you are - but I didn't want everything to be "set up" for me. I wanted to be able work with the space to create the vibe/mood that I envisioned. 501 Union is so versatile. You can leave the door to the atrium open during the warmer season, bring in food trucks, have the ceremony in the main room, the atrium, play around with different types of decorations to really change the feel of the space, and we loved that (although it was.. a lotttt of work - but I'm a bit neurotic like that) - we could truly turn this place into a wedding venue that reflected who we were as a couple. 3) The People we'd be working with. We worked with Angelica (the venue manager) throughout our planning process, and she was absolutely wonderful. She was punctual, organized, kind, professional, and understanding. When I was interviewing vendors, one of the questions I'd ask each one of them was "We are considering 501 Union as our venue - have you worked at that venue, are you familiar?" and every single vendor I had spoken with would say that the 501 union team is the best - and that they truly love working with them. Trust me, the PEOPLE you'll be working with during this process will make EVERY difference. From first meeting, to the final walk through, from the set up in the morning, to the clean up in the evening - absolutely incredible experience with them. Ohhh my husband and I truly miss our day. This place will forever hold a special place in our hearts. -

501 Union is considered on of the best venues in Brooklyn for a reason. Our experience working with them was clear, professional, and low-stress from start to finish. Their beautiful space easily accommodated our 127 guests, and we barely had to do anything in terms of décor because of how effortlessly cool the venue is. Every staff member we worked with, from Celina our wedding coordinator to the bar staff (shout out Audrey) were incredible and we genuinely enjoyed having them with us on our day.
If you want your event to run like a well-oiled machine, go with 501 Union. You won't be disappointed. -

The 501 Union Staff was so understanding, gracious, and transparent throughout the entire process of rescheduling our wedding from July 2020 to May 2021. The venue itself is gorgeous and is 1 of the main reasons we chose this space. We loved the flow of the spaces, as it worked well with our vision for our wedding day. The staff provides enough support so you can enjoy your wedding day like you are supposed to. -

I loved 501 Union from the minute I walked into it. It was exactly what I was looking for - I hate those awful wedding halls with uplighting where everything looks like you're in a castle but it isn't a castle? ANYWAY, 501 is the opposite of that. I was so happy the staff was also very cool and easy to work with - answering our questions quickly, providing some solutions to a few problems we ran into, and just being really fantastic the day of our wedding. Everything happened how it was supposed to, and everyone was so nice. My only hang-up was that we had to contract the bar through them which was pretty expensive. BUT, the cocktails were amazing, the bartenders were fantastic and very fast, and all of our guests were drunk by the end of the evening - just what we wanted. If you are looking for a cool venue that is unique, I highly recommend checking out 501! -

From start to finish, 501 Union absolutely made our wedding what it was. With two large families not used to big cities coming in from out of town, they were blown away by the beauty, comfort and ease within the space. Everyone on both sides is still raving about how much they loved the venue!
I knew I didn't want a raw venue space because I didn't want to have to bring in a whole army of vendors. 501 Union offered the flexibility of a raw space, without needing to add lighting, a sound system, draping, or even tables and chairs! (We did upgrade to the farm tables and that was worth it for us, however.) Being able to come in the morning of and relax and get ready with my bridal party as we got our hair and make up done and set out put of the decorations was one of my favorite memories. Also--air conditioning, which was a requirement for us in the summer--but so much natural light and greenery in the space you don't feel caged in like a hotel ballroom.
The number 1 biggest asset of 501 Union for us was the flow of the space. The layout with the cocktail lounge meant no awkward flow or crowding from ceremony to reception as chairs got moved over, and at the end of the night when the older folks wanted to have quieter conversation they could escape to the lounge and let the dance party rage. It's a totally unique space that start to finish made the day incredibly easy and special. And the wallpaper made the perfect photo booth background!
The staff is also great, and so kind and pleasant to deal with. Bridget was a dream. Also really appreciated the in-house bar staff and found the drink packages to be really fairly priced.
So grateful to 501 Union for doing the most in making our wedding day more fun and less stress than I ever imagined! -

We couldn't be happier after having our wedding there on 3/15/19 and we are still so in love with the space. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and it doesn't need a lot of extra work/decorations at all if you don't want to do it. Our guests were awed by how unique the venue is and we got awesome photos in and around the space. We worked with Celina throughout the planning process and she was super responsive and accommodating. They even let us pick up some stuff the next day, which was so helpful. We can't recommend this venue enough! -

When we were looking for venues, 501 was the first place we found that we absolutely fell in love with. We tried looking at other venues to see what else was out there, but the simple fact is there is nothing like 501. The space is perfect, the staff is warm and welcoming, the cocktails are delicious and bartenders are really talented. The space and flow of the venue was totally perfect for our wedding. We had our ceremony in the courtyard and cocktails in the lounge and then the reception in the main hall. Everything was perfect. -

Kristian Sent on 12/12/2014We just had our wedding at 501 Union the sunday before Thanksgiving and it was more fun than we could have ever imagined it to be. The building itself is so classy and beautiful. No other venue looks like this place. The lighting, the walls, the wooden tables, the bar and even the wallpaper is so stylish and hip. The building is located in Gowanus Brooklyn - a quaint community by the Gowanus Canal that is great for capturing the look of an urban wedding. The only downside of getting married in the city is no private parking. We had to hire Elite Parking Services to provide valet parking for this venue.
However, the people at 501 Union are amazing. They know how to do buisness in a professional and friendly manner. They often have open houses and exibits at their venues that showcase different vendors that are worth speaking to.
In summary, 501 Union is a great place and we are so happy that we had our wedding at this place! -

We had our winter wedding at 501 Union and loved the venue from the first time we saw it. The ability to customize our vendors, look, and tone of our wedding was really important to us, and 501 did not mandate any specific vendors to be included. The place looked terrific, and we thought the wedding reflected our personalities perfectly. We wound up upgrading the tables and chairs from their basic package to the upgraded package. The team was nice about keeping the rates from the year before when we signed the contract, however, we did feel that with the added costs of the wedding, something like nice tables and chairs should have been included and not charged up for. Beyond that, 501 was a fantastic venue and we'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get married in Brooklyn. -

I had a friend that got married at 501 Union in 2017 and I feel in love right then. I was single at the time but thought, if I were to get married, this would be the venue.
The venue is gorgeous. The natural greenery (which they have a gardener for) is stunning. I love flowers but was actually able to save a little when it came to the arrangements given what was already in the venue.
Not only was the venue beautiful, but the service was amazing! One of the most important things to us was great cocktails (we work in the industry). 501 Union did everytihng in their power to accommodate brands, create delicious cocktails, and make sure we had the time of our lives.
Everything was easy and communication felt seamless (despite Covid!)
I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for the perfect industrial chic venue with phenomenal cocktails, wonderful service, and beautiful greenery. -

Nia Sent on 11/14/2015As soon as we walked into the door, I knew this was our venue. The wallpaper...gasp, had me at hello. We celebrated our wedding here just over 2 weeks ago and it was amazing. Every single guest raved about how special and unique the venue was, and the night was just magical. Jennifer was our wonderful and responsive main contact throughout the planning process and the lovely Claire was onsite the day of to make sure everything ran smoothly. Both answered emails in a timely manner and took care of making sure all my questions were taken care of.
During our final walkthrough we noticed they made a few upgrades, added some amazing photos on the walls and jazzed things up a bit with decor, and the day of the venue was clean, beautiful and ready to go. The dressing room looked stunning!!!!
Venue does not have parking, so that may be troublesome for some folks with lots of guests who are driving. My DJ had a few technical issues (none of which I was aware of during wedding), and ended up having to scramble to get video to play, but it seemed the onsite staff were helpful in making things right and helping to troubleshoot in the moment.
And the cocktails....so so yum. Guests raved about how unique and delicious they were and the bartenders were amazing and professional. An A plus team. A huge thanks to 501 for making our wedding day so extremely magical. -

501 Union is absolutely beautiful and unique space. We knew we wanted to get married there as soon as we stepped inside. The staff is so organized and professional and really responsive to questions you may have. Andrea Clinton worked with us from the open house until the day of the wedding and went above and beyond to respond to even the silliest questions with patience and compassion. The staff that worked our event was truly accommodating and could not have been friendlier. They were really invested in making sure the event went smoothly.
The space itself is gorgeous and well maintained. We had looked at some of the *raw* spaces in other neighborhoods in Brooklyn and knew right away that 501 was a better choice. It's lovely and does not need much decorating to make it the perfect venue for a Brooklyn wedding. -

501 Union is a dream venue. The architectural details, natural light, and built-in greenery are incredible. You don't need to over-do decorations in order to make this space feel special - it already is. Keep in mind, you will have to provide your own caterer and rentals. You have to pick a bar package though the venue and it isn't cheap, but the bar staff was incredibly quick + friendly so the investment was worthwhile. I'm really happy that we chose 501 Union for our wedding and would do it again in a heartbeat. -

My husband and I got married at 501 Union in March 2019. I knew I wanted to get married at this effortlessly cool place years ago when I first noticed them on Instagram. I also work in wedding photography, so I had the pleasure of attending a few industry events at 501, and really fell in love with the beautiful space and the awesome team there. The modern lighting fixtures, oversized mirrors and lounge furniture, and huge marble bar tops in both rooms are just gorgeous, you really don't need to add much more! The interior design of the space was exactly our taste, so we only added more tropical greenery, pops of gold and marble, and upgraded to the beautiful farm tables. The tables fit our family style meal perfectly, and we sat anywhere from 8-12 people per table. There was plenty of space for our party of 114, booming sound system, more than enough restrooms, and a great private suite in the back. We worked with Jennifer for all of our planning, and she was a total pro. The great thing about 501 Union, is you can brining in whatever catering team you want, even back a food truck right into the garden area. Our caterer said the kitchen area was top notch, better than some she's had to work in. We were happy to secure a Sunday date in early spring, right before high season, which made the venue with an open bar affordable to us. We got ready at a hotel, but with the whole day rental, you can get ready at 501 Union as well which is super convenient and low stress. We loved our wedding at 501 Union! -

TLDR; As someone who booked this venue & then backed out of it, beware the bar package, non-refundable deposit of $4K+ (even over a year out), lack of A/C, and partly covered skylight. Look elsewhere in NYC, this is not "the chill" option, as we thought & you can definitely find better value in Manhattan/Queens/BK.
We felt pressured into booking this venue early on in our planning process as the dates appeared to be booking up fast (1.5 years in advance) - it was such a mistake.
501 Union charges an exorbitant fee for their bar package, which is required. Upon taking a closer look into other NYC venues (including ones we thought initially would be out of our price range) we realized we'd actually be saving money by eating the cost of the non-refundable deposit & going with a different venue. To that end, 501 Union charged us $4000 for the deposit (for comparison, The Foundry, the venue we switched to, only charges $500 for a non refundable deposit).
When we inquired about getting our deposit back and reminded them they still had over 1 year to re-book our Saturday date in August, the representative told us it was non-refundable and that $$$ is used to pay staff. Strange feature to bake into your business model and speaks volumes about how frequently this occurs/the management team's values if it's part of their revenue stream.
If you're considering 501 Union, we would highly recommend checking out other venues in Queens, Brooklyn, maybe even Manhattan (no AC in the atrium??? YOU WILL find a better deal and a more beautiful venue. Not to mention, the beautiful atrium skylight they feature in all their social media posts is now partly covered).
