We got married on 8/22/25 and had 31 North bartend for our celebration. They were professional, well-presented, and made sure everyone was served and taken care of. The only thing I would have loved to see was a bit more personality and interaction behind the bar. Overall, they did their job very well, and I would recommend them

Bernice, Jim, and their crew at 31 North made our wedding day amazing! The crew came to the reception venue the Friday before to set up the tables, the bar, etc. which was very helpful for us to see the dinner and cocktail hour areas all set up before the big day. On the big day, the staff was very attentive to us (the bride and groom) as well as all of the guests, ensuring timely passing of appetizers and fast serving of the dinner courses. Also, the dinner was nice and hot, showing that the final stages of cooking were completed at the reception venue just prior to serving. All of the staff were so kind. During the year leading up to the wedding, Bernice was very responsive via email, answering all of my questions and adjusting our proposal countless times with any additions or subtractions. She was also very accommodating when we wanted to add a few extra desserts, plate some of the dinner courses separately, etc. Overall, we’d highly recommend 31 North for any of your catering needs in the McHenry, Hebron, Woodstock areas of IL! Thank you 31 North!

Hire 31 North!!

We hired 31 North to cater our wedding and they were awesome to work with. They were so professional, responsive, and easy to work with. The service during our wedding was great and the food was amazing. We got so many compliments on the food and we couldn’t be happier we went with 31 North for our wedding!

I didn't have a chance to leave a review yet from our wedding on May 6th. THANK YOU so much for helping make our day AWESOME!!! All the food was fantastic and everyone involved made the day fly by with the greatest memories, great times and not one complaint about anything. They even helped Adele take decorations off the arch and make sure she didn't forget them. We had never planned a wedding and the attention you gave to each and every detail was unexpected and greatly appreciated. Tony and the whole staff treated us all like family. You can count on many recommendations from us!!! We had the best day ever!!!

Exceeded Expectations

If you want to remove stress from your wedding planning call 31 North and let Bernice and her team work do their job. 5 STARS all around and this is coming from someone that was extremely concerned (borderline paranoid). I needlessly lost sleep. Bernice, Amanda and the entire 31 North team just blew us away with their service, attention to details and quality of food. Every "I" was dotted. Every "T" was crossed. Every promise was met. The wedding was at an off-site venue without a kitchen. The food had to be delivered 20 miles. This isn't easy. They achieved what I thought was impossible. Despite the logistical travel obstacles everything was exceptional at ALL levels - grazing table, cold hors d'oeuvres, hot hors d'oeuvres, salad, filet, chicken, sides, desserts and the late night taco bar. Words can't begin to explain our level of satisfaction. I had several people tell me "best wedding food I've ever." The bar service was outstanding as well. The team even delivered on a last minute request from the Bride to have a Signature Drink. Since the groom is from San Diego, we had several Californian's in attendance. The team delivered on having the Groom's Signature Drink with an IPA from So Cal. Again, kudos to the 31 North team. You played a big part in a magical wedding day.

Fabulous , magical

I just have to say we had our wedding here at 31 North on September 9th 2022 and we had an amazing time. Everyone that came said this was one of the best weddings we have ever been to. Everyone said the food was out of this world. The team that was there that night was Tina’s team they all were amazing on top it all night. Her team made sure we had what we needed and was amazing. We will definitely hold a event here again in the future. Bernice thank you and Tina’s team for making our night magical. See u in the future..

Amazing Wedding Experience!

I got married Saturday August 20th, 2022 and we had our reception at 31 North Banquets and Catering. All the staff were extremely attentive and made sure everything went perfect for us that night. The ballroom was set up perfectly and everybody were telling us how amazing the food was from the appetizers to our dinner! We couldn't of picked a better banquet hall to hold our wedding reception and our day went without a hitch! Thank you to everybody at 31 North!!

Offsite Wedding 7/30/2022

We booked with 31 North for our wedding offsite. From the tasting in March, to the wedding date on July 30th 2022, food and service was great. Bernice was wonderful to work with, and extremely accommodating. They were slightly short staffed the day of my wedding, but they made it work and got everything done! I received SO many compliments on our food. Things like “I’ve never eaten an entire plate of food at a wedding, but I went back for seconds!” and “That mac and cheese was to die for.” Their prices are extremely reasonable for the service you get, and I will recommend them to everyone who asks. For those who want to know, our food choices were Chicken Marsala (cooked perfectly tender), Beef Stroganoff (the best thing on their menu in my opinion), Mashed Red Potatoes, Mac and Cheese, and Glazed Carrots.

Highly Recommend 31 North!

We had a wonderful experience working with 31 North for our wedding at Ethereal Confections in Woodstock! Bernice was very responsive and accommodated the many changes we made to our menu over the year or so we worked with her. Our tasting was great and allowed us to try everything before we finalized our menu, which included switching one of our entrees after tasting their cranberry brie stuffed chicken which was my favorite thing I tasted (at the tasting and on our wedding day!). We’ve received many compliments from our guests on the food. The waitstaff was also wonderful and got all the food out quickly and efficiently. We had a plated dinner, so timing was very important.

My only complaint is that we didn’t get the variety of desserts we wanted on the dessert table and had brownies, which we specifically said not to have on the dessert table as we did not like them at the tasting. The desserts were the most important thing to me, so I was a bit disappointed (but not disappointed enough to take a star away or anything). However, the cheesecake bites are one of the best desserts I’ve ever tried, and the chocolate covered strawberries were so delicious!

Highly recommended.

I cannot say enough about 31 North. My daughter had her wedding reception here and from start to finish it was a fabulous experience. The staff is phenomenal. They are quick to get back to you when you contact them, and they answer all of your questions. The evening itself was amazing! The food was fantastic. They worked with us for special dietary needs. They made everything so easy. They added many little touches to make the night special for my daughter and her new husband. If you need a wedding venue near McHenry, I would check on this one first. You won't be sorry. I will be happy to recommend it to anyone for their special event. Thank you, 31 North!

Great food with a side of great service!

We hired 31 North to cater our wedding in October. We were blown away by their professionalism and the quality of not just their service but also their food. We ordered the bourbon glazed pork loin and the greek chicken. To say they were amazing is an understatement. It was fantastic and they were so nice! We had the best experience with them from the food tasting to the actual day of our wedding. They even helped setup the donuts which were catered through someone else. I can't thank them enough!

Amazing Experience

Bernice & Jim are such genuine and sweet people. Having to reschedule your wedding due to a pandemic is NOT fun. I must note - the payments were not refundable - but they are really do work with you to make the best of the $ already paid. My wedding went from 200 to 50 people - but they catered my Bridal Shower, Thanksgiving, and my wedding with the deposit that I already paid. Wedding dinner was by far most favorite meal if of the orders we placed. EVERYTHING was delicious. Beef Medallions and Herb Crusted Chicken SOOOO GOOOD! Thank you for adding the memorable dinner to our wedding!

Holy Deliciousness

Having 31 North as our caterers was absolutely amazing! The food was the absolute best and still piping hot when we were served. They had the staff available to hire and we ended hiring the bartenders and the servers through them ( was applied to the contract and we didn't have to hire a separate company for that which saved us a lot of time) prices for all the food that we had ordered and the servers was also fairly priced.

We had my son's wedding at 31 North. I was beyond pleased. Working with Bernice is like working with a friend. She is warm and inviting and extremely accommodating. She made myself and my daughter in law feel very comfortable and at ease. Everything was thought of and taken care of. The food was mouth watering good. We received so many compliments on the filet. It melted in your mouth and was so tender it could be cut with your fork. I do not have one complaint, everything was perfect!!! Thank you so much Bernice and your staff for providing us with a wonderful memory that will last a lifetime.

I would definitely look into their services. The food is delicious and they set up the venue fabulously for our Wedding Reception with 150 people. The value provided and flexibility and professionalism were excellent !!

Our wedding reception and dinner was absolutely perfect. 31 North helped create everything I envisioned my reception to become truly what I dreamed it would be. The dining tables were elegant and were setup perfectly.
Ashley and Bernice helped us through the planning from beginning to end without missing anything. Even with several changes we made during the planning, they were supportive of our decisions and offered helpful advice. We had catering at venue in Woodstock, and everything went smooth and was timed just right.
Afterwards, the guests were complimenting the catering for weeks. We received comments about the delicious hors d’oeuvres, and the dinner was fabulous. The staff was recognized as being fantastic, and the Bride and Groom were catered to all night. We were asked many times what Caterer we used, and were happy to say 31 North.
You will be completely satisfied if you chose them for your wedding caterer or Venue.

They set up the venue with the center pieces we provided and it all looked better then we imagined. They also put up some of there own decorations because we did not have enough for the whole room. The food was also very good and we only received good feedback from our guests.

We are so pleased with the food and service that 31 North has provided at our wedding this summer. It was an outdoor wedding on our farm, which can be a little tricky because of all the uncertainties that mother nature can bring. As local farmers, we grow most of our own food without chemicals, antibiotics, or growth hormones. We are very fussy with what we eat or feed our guests. The food 31 North catered for us was absolutely delicious and exceeded our high standards. It arrived fresh, hot, and with perfect timing. The staff worked professionally and were very pleasant serving our guests. They worked tirelessly and kept our event right on schedule. To this day, our guests always comment how excellent the food was at our wedding. We are very proud of 31 North and welcome them back at any future events we may have.

The entire staff from the wedding planners Kathleen and Brandi, to the wait staff the day of the wedding were amazing. The day of the wedding Kathleen took care of everything and I didn't have to worry. It was an amazing experience, and I wouldn't change anything on my special day!

Being a young bride, I was extremely excited for our wedding day to finally arrive. So much so that I would come in almost every week to make sure everything was perfect. The amazing group of people working at 31 North made it an absolute dream for my husband and I, and also our family and friends. The quality of service and the price was absolutely incredible. Also, the food was delicious!!! Kathleen and Brandie helped us out so much and made sure that everything was perfect for our special day. The simple elegance of the hall was breathtaking and it suited our style to a T. I can't even begin to tell everyone how amazing this experience was, and I know the memories will last a lifetime. I was thrilled with 31 North! The service, the food and the amazing location. The bridal suite was a personal favorite!! Kathleen was amazing and made the night very easy for us. She was on top of everything. I had comments that this was the first wedding they had attended and were actually full after dinner!!! Highly recommend!

I had my wedding reception at 31 North Banquet and Conference Center just over a month ago. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. From the very first moment that we stepped into the hall, I knew that I wanted to have my reception there. It was beautiful and immaculate. The service is astounding and we were offered help and guaidance all along the way as we planned our special day. And many things were taken care of for us. It was wonderful to be able to enjoy all the fun parts of wedding planning (tasting the food and different cake flavors, picking colored sashes, ect) and having all the more difficult tedious details taken care of for us. I didn't need to worry about set up or take down, I didn't need to concern myself with worrying about if the caters would show or if they would have enough food. 31 North took care of it all for me. It was a wonderful experience. So good I almost want to get married again!

I loved my planner and 31 North. The only thing I would recommend is watching your payments because if you give your final count and it turns out less than your estimated number they will not give you back any money :(

Everything was professionally done. Guest could not stop raving and still are raving about how good the food was. They kept the flow going and delivered everything as promised and then some. The suite for the wedding party to use was wonderful; came in handy with the special needs person we had there.
We also arrive 30 minutes earlier than planned, no sweat for 31 North. We were welcomed with open arms and whatever we needed was right there.
Was a totally a great experience for the Bride and Groom and all invited guests. The service was impeccable. Would highly recommend 31 North to anyone looking have have an event that is specificlly catered to your event and no one else's.
The knowledgable, experienced staff insured that the itinary flowed smoothly throughout the event. What a shame it went by way too fast. It was just a great experience!

I was very impressed with 31 North. They were eagar to help me plan my wedding and met my every needs. The day of the wedding the place was beautiful. We had an indoor wedding at 31 North which turned out perfect and the reception was beautiful. Everything turned out perfect for the day of my wedding.

My groom and I used 31 North for our wedding reception (dinner and dancing). We had 180-some-odd guests, which was a feat I did not think possible because weddings in general are so expensive. BUT because 31 North was very accommodating we were able to have our dream wedding after all. :)
The wedding planners at 31 North helped me create a package of food, alcohol and decorations that gave me a great party while also minding my budget. This allowed my groom and I to invite all of the family and friends we wanted to share in our special day!

What else can I say. Planning a wedding is challenging in many ways but the folks at 31 North were outstanding. From our first meeting till the wedding reception was over the staff at 31 North took care of everything. We chose a menu for our dinner, requested the decorations for the room, were to set up the dance floor, gift table and DJ and when we arrived everything was perfect. We even asked if they would put heart shaped beets on everyone's salad and they said no problem. My wife and I had a private room and when we arrived they brought in appetizers and drinks and made sure we had everything we needed. The guest all thought the room looked great, the appetizers and dinner tasted wonderful and the presentation of the food was impressive. The staff was friendly, professional and attentive to everyone's needs. Our cake was part of the package and was made buy Lovin Oven and wow it was good. The staff cut the cake wrapped the top layer for us cleaned our cake serving utensils and Champaign glasses and packed them up for us to take home. I highly recommend 31 North for any event you would have and would give them 6 stars if I could.

Bernice, Ed & all the staff at 31 North Banquet And Conference Center were FANTASTIC! They brought all the stuff together & took my worries away. Bernice was super flexible and more than willing to work with us on our budget & menu. It was such a wonderful wedding & both me and my wife were glad to have come across their mail flyer. From day one we knew this was the place. When no other places called us back after we requested we were just disappointed. But not with Bernice & 31 North. They wanted our business & our event. The Food were fantastic! The service was fantastic! The entire place was fantastic. TWO THUMBS UP!

Ed, Bernice, and Brittany were wonderful in helping us plan our wedding. There was not a single detail that was not overlooked. The food was wonderful, and everything was cooked perfectly. The room was arranged perfectly even though I did not give much direction of what I wanted! The whole event ran smoothly. When our priest forgot our unity candles during the ceremony, they incorporated them right after we cut our cake! No one could tell. Ed and Brittany were very accommodating, they refilled drinks for the guests, provided boxes for guests who wanted to take stuff home, and made sure everything was perfect!! Not one single guest had a complaint, and everyone said that this was the best wedding reception they have ever been to!!

From the moment I walked in to 31 North I knew there was something special about it. It has a modern, chic style that is just lovely. The best part about the actual building.....there is only one room for one wedding at a time! Talk about personalized service! Who wouldn't want to have their wedding somewhere where the focus was only on your wedding and not 6-10 others as well? You're only a bride once, why not be treated that way! Bernice, the owner, was nothing but sweet and helpful throughout the whole process. She was there willing to help with anything I needed, from photographers & flowers to helping with seating and what would work best. Brittany, the coordinator assigned to my wedding was also there for anything I needed. It was like having 2 wedding planners. I never expected to get that at a reception hall. The venue has the main room for the guests with the bar being built in a way that the bartender and guests can actually hear each other over the music! There is a separate room you can have set up as you choose, for tables for children if they get tired, for guests who don't like music to go and talk, or as we used it for a photographer to set up his backdrop for guest photos (you could even put a photobooth in there!). The food was AMAZING! I knew this from our tasting but it was reinforced after the wedding. We have only been married 3 weeks today, but I can't tell you how many people commented on how wonderful the food was. (And my husband and I both have some people who are quite picky in that area, us being included!) I would highly recommend 31 North for your wedding or any other event for that matter. If you are looking for a typical, get as much money as we can in one night and unpersonalized venue then go elsewhere. However, if you want a wedding day that feels like your special day and only your special day, with all focus on your wedding and guests then make sure you go to 31 North! You won't be disappointed!!

Bernice assures you of a wonderful reception experience! With her partner, Ed - every detail is attended to. The room was gorgeous, the lighting superb, the staff were so friendly throughout the entire 6 hours, the food was over the top; beginning with the hot and cold hors'deurves and a full plated dinner. You cannot go wrong at 31 North Banquets. We had 111 guests and a full dance floor and the size was just perfect! She has established McHenry's finest banquet facility by far!

31 North made my job as a bride so easy! They were an amazing place to host our reception. All the food was amazing and hot when served. They were extremely attentive all the way up until the wedding. Because you work with an event planner all the way up to the wedding they coordinate with the other vendors and make your wedding day a day that you really can enjoy! The reception pretty much went off without a hitch. The only issue was the gluten-free meals were delivered to the wrong table the day of, but that was easily sorted out.

Great place to have a wedding reception! All of the staff are very friendly, attentive, flexible, and professional. My day was perfect and the planners at 31 north had a big part in that! I would for sure recommend 31 north!

As soon as we walked into 31 North, we knew we found the perfect place for our wedding reception. The owner, Bernice, was very welcoming. We quickly fell in love with the cozy modern look of the place and Bernice. She provided us with several options to stay within our budget. She was willing to stay after regular work hours so we could show the hall to our parents. Throughout the planning period, Bernice, Brandie, and Kathleen were very helpful. They were all very prompt in answering our questions and providing us with great suggestions. Whenever we stopped by to make payments or simply take a look at the place, we were always well received. Our favorite planning process was the food tasting event. We were allowed to bring my parents and brother. It definitely was tough making menu decisions as everything tasted so delicious. 31 North has a partnership with Lovin Oven. Our cake was included in the plan, and we are so glad Lovin Oven baked our cake. They are now our favorite bakery. The staff is very flexible and accommodating. We were allowed to come in before our dinner rehearsal to practice our choreographed first dances. At that time, the room was somewhat set up,so we were able to make last minute changes to the set up. Kathleen was our coordinator on the day of our wedding. She made sure everything ran smoothly. She helped my bridesmaids bustle my dress and continuously checked with us if anything was needed. Many of our guests commented on the quick and great service provided by all staff members. They loved the warm atmosphere Some guests were even interested in planning their next family event there. We are so happy that we made the right decision on selecting 31 North Banquet as our wedding venue.

Everyone in staff did so well. They went above and beyond for me and my husband. At the end we had a handful of guests that could not attend the reception. When we told them they were absolutely willin to work with us. They certainly did give us our dre wedding reception. Highly recommended.

The people are wonderful, I heard nothing but good comments on the food, there was wonderful pampering in the bridal party room that we hardly had time to enjoy but looked fabulous (champagne and cheese and glorious chocolate covered strawberries). It was great only having the one event in the building - much more personal. The only problem we encountered was feeling a bit rushed with dinner service, possibly because we had a smaller party than the usual and their team was ready for the next step of the program before the guests were? Overall it was a wonderful night and I would definitely recommend 31 North!

This place was amazing! Especially on the day, everything was taken care of and during the event I didn't have to worry about a single thing. Everything I asked for, it was taken care of immediately. The food was so good, we had the chicken dinner and it was tender and delicious.

Staff, food and service are incredible. Only complaint is 1 day before my wedding, Bernice called to inform me I was missing information regarding seating arrangements. I wish I would have been contacted sooner as it is very stressful the day before the wedding especially with the rehearsal dinner and ceremony set up. Also, during the wedding, one of the waiters asked me about when to serve the cake- you should never talk to the bride. Especially because we had already discussed the timeline weeks prior and it was in writing-there should not have been a question.

At 31 North we were helped by event coordinator Brandie. Brandie was fantastic, as an event coordinator she was extremely helpful and accommodating and made me and my wife feel extremely comfortable and well taken care of. Unfortunately, the management above Brandie could, at times, be abrasive and inconsiderate. Of course, we must give leeway to the harsher side of business transactions, because it is a business, and recognize that the abrasive and sometimes inconsiderate upper management had the good sense and forethought to hire someone like Brandie to handle the mundane day to day sales and customer service responsibilities that accompany assisting a young couple in love. Because Brandie was awesome, a true professional making the "impossible" things come true (these things were only labeled as "impossible" by the aforementioned upper management), so despite the upper management and our lightly assailed egos, we were made very happy. Aside from Brandie, the facility itself was at first unassuming, but proved to be gorgeous and everything we could hope for when our big day arrived. As a couple we received from our guests many undue compliments about the food, which of course, we did not cook. The compliments were due to the staff of 31 North and ultimately to the upper management for arranging for such high quality foods and skilled cooks. All in all, a great experience.

We celebrated our wedding ceremony and reception at 31 North in May 2015. My husband and I live out of state, so they offered for our extended family members in the area to come by for a food tasting, which helped us decide on our menu. Also, our final head count came in under the guaranteed number, so 31 North allowed us to choose an upgrade for free, which was a nice gesture.

One thing that could have been better was the communication. They were good about answering emails and returning phone calls; however, the information was not always passed along. For example, my husband and I both have severe food allergies, and though we had decided on the dinner options, the appetizers were to be chosen by the chef based on season and availability. Therefore, I notified 31 North of our allergies. The next four times I spoke with them, no allergies had been recorded, and we were assured each time that they would put it in our file. On the wedding day, not only was there a vegetarian first course containing foods to which my husband is allergic, but the waiter apologized to me in the bridal suite for serving strawberries (I am only allergic to eggplant, so it seems the wrong foods had been written down). No one had an allergic reaction, and the rest of the day was lovely. It concerns me that I had to relay important health condition information several times.

Perhaps one of the problems was that I spoke to someone different each time I called. Our day-of wedding coordinator was a woman we had neither met nor heard from in the months leading up to the wedding, which seemed a bit impersonal and risky. In all, the wedding was very nice; the ceremony and reception setup looked great, the wait staff was competent, and the food was good. If I booked another event with 31 North, I would make sure to try to speak with the same person every time and send follow-up emails for confirmation and reassurance.

I was supposed to meet with a woman and when we got there(after they double booked our time with another couple) we met with a young man who hardly knew anything. The chair covers were ripped, I wasn't thrilled or at least impressed with this venue.

The food was great and the planning leading up to the wedding was excellent; but the event coordinator that we were working with the entire time was on vacation the day of our wedding and the event coordinator that we had on the day of our wedding was not the greatest. Our tables were all messed up which left our guests confused and when I specifially asked for a certain food because of dietary restrictions it was never provided. Also, when we went to cut our cake plates and forked were not provided and when we looked back te coordinator was just standing against the wall not helping us. Like I said the landing leading up to the wedding was great but on the actual wedding day it didn't run smoothly and I was never contacted afterwards to see how everything went.

Wedding day

am I hate to say disappointed in the service that I had received on my wedding day. I knew it was my fault for not showing up for the ten day tasting for the food for that it is on me that the food was not good.

The orderves were probably the best part. The steak tasted like it was boiled had no seasoning and was absolutely disgusting.

I had noticed that cake was partially being served because people had told me they did not receive any but Other people did.. The groom and I did not receive a piece.

I went into the back area expressing my concern about the food and the fact that I was not served a piece of my own cake.. They're excuse was you cut your own slice why would we have to bring you one. I had expressed to them that I had cut the tiniest sliver of the cake because I didn't want to take away from the rest of my guest. And knew You Guys Were Gonna bring me another slice.

After I had brought that up to them they did not bring out any more cake. The cake was then served at 9 o'clock with the pizza.

Half my guest did not receive dinner and more than eighty five percent of my guests did not receive cake.
I was told by multiple people That they did not receive more food once all the food was gone at their table but yet I came home with containers of food.

The only good part about the service we received was the bar. The bartenders were absolutely amazing and they followed every instruction that was given to them..

I am disappointed because I had put 10700. Somethin dollars into this catering in hopes of you guys doing an amazing job because this is not the first time you've done it.
I am requesting compensation for the discrepancies and the terrible service and the terrible food.

I had planned my sons wedding reception for 8 months with them. During the planning process they were wonderful. 9 days prior to the event the owner Bernice called to chastise me as to where my final payment was. She indicated that her staff had been trying to call me and I wasn't responding to messages. Which was completely untrue as I had received one
Email from Bridgette and I responded promptly making arrangements when I would be in. Now mind you I had been in frequently brining our decorations in and chatting with the girls there. The message I received from the owner was so rude and unprofessional I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I called the owner who then started to apologize, saying she had had a bad morning and she should had not left that message and so on. The cafe is very stressful she said. So I moved past that. However, let's talk about the day of event.
We had been told we my daughter in law could use the bridal room to get ready. We said we would be there at 3:00. We didn't come until 3:30. They were still partially set up as the cafe. The chairs had not been covered or sashed tables had not been set up. It was crazy. So much so that I set up the entire head table decor, the sign in
table and ended up working some on the guest table decor. I did this until 5:00. Which I then had to dress. For the amount of money I paid for this it was supposed to all be done by them.
My son and daughter in laws name was supposed to be on the marquee never done. Dinner was supposed to be served at 7:00. Well the soup and salad was. But the actual main course was not served until 8:20. Ridiculous. Their staff did not clean away salad plates or soup dishes. The tables were full of unclean dishes. The cake was not brought out until after
9:00 and then it was not served it was just set out on trays. Sashes on chairs can't undone when guests sat down. One small room was not set up for cocktail hour or for the little ones as promised.
