I feel beyond blessed to have found Russell for my November 1st wedding. From my trial to the wedding day, Russell made me, my wedding party, and my husband feel completely at ease. Russell is entertaining, uplifting to everybody in his chair (really anybody in the room with him), is completely receptive to feedback, all while delivering exceptional artistry with each makeup look.
Not only did he take care of my bridesmaids and myself, but he also had my husband cracking up and completely comfortable while doing some subtle skin care and hair treatment. My husband would not typically sign up for any sort of “pampering” but went with it as it was our wedding day. Russell once again was able to adapt from all the ladies in his chair to a blue collar dude getting some light touchup’s for the first time. EVERYONE sung his praises & was by far the most beloved vendor at our wedding.
Weddings are extremely expensive! The only time I have proclaimed, “That’s it?!” throughout wedding planning/budgeting was when we wrote the check to Russell 😅 I learned of his extensive work history in this during my makeup trial and boy, did it show! You get more than your moneys worth with Russell. On our wedding day, everyone’s make up lasted all day long and photographed beautifully. We all looked & felt like elevated versions of ourselves. The wedding party consisted of a bride (me) who loves to cake on make up a sister-in-law who never wears make up, and a couple in between. Russell was able to deliver a cohesive look amongst our party whilst making sure everyone felt comfortable & beautiful.
Finally, I’m thankful to Russell for the extras that he did for us leading up to the wedding that he absolutely did not have to do. This included complete flexibility, warmth from each member of his team, prompt communication, and an extended phone call when things were getting very chaotic & disrespectful from another vendor (which was compromising our wedding day timeframe). I can’t thank Russell enough for helping my husband & I navigate that frustrating time. Russell used his many years of experience to recommend/validate/& get us back to the drawing board. He did so while never speaking negatively of the other vendor. A class act & true professional.
Clearly, we would recommend him every day of the week. Thankful to have met him and work with him!

Russell is an absolute gem to work with! He is so much fun and such a kind person. I don't normally wear much if any makeup, so trying to find a makeup artist for my weddings, and articulate how I wanted to look, was intimidating. During my makeup trial, Russell took the time to talk to me and get to know me, and created a makeup look just for me! He explained each step and product he was using, and was very receptive to toning this up or down based on my response. On my wedding day, Russel and he crew were on time and efficient. I loved my makeup look and felt so comfortable and like myself. Russell made the energy so fun, and everyone in my bridal party looked stunning. -

The absolute best makeup artist!
From the moment I met with Russel for my trial I knew that he would be my makeup artist for my wedding day! He is fun, extremely friendly and, not to mention… hilarious! The morning of my wedding the team showed up with plenty of time to set up and start preparing. From the moment he walked in the door, he just has this way of making pre-wedding nerves go away. He was putting a smile on everyone’s face. He took into account every detail I had mentioned to him and my wedding makeup came out absolutely stunning! So many makeup artists nowadays just layer so many products and can look cakey. This is not the case with Russel, he uses just enough product to get the exact look you’re going for. He is also great with all ages and I guarantee will make you look 10 years younger! Cannot recommend him enough. Will definitely be using him for my next wedding (just kidding). -

Russell and his team were perfect and I could not recommend them enough for hair and makeup! The team is friendly, efficient, and most of all good at what they do. I felt beautiful on my wedding day, in part thanks to them and their work. We ran ahead of schedule for 11 of us! I had a hair and makeup trial which I loved, but of course had some tweaks. My tweaks were implemented seamlessly and perfectly. The team did a fantastic job! -

Russell and his team at 1Makeup Man were nothing short of lifesavers for my wedding. When I had to find a new hair and makeup team at the last minute, I was terrified I wouldn’t find anyone in time. But from the moment I spoke with Russell on the phone, I knew he was the one. He listened carefully, understood exactly what I was looking for, and reassured me that I would feel like myself on my wedding day—and he delivered on that promise.
Russell was incredibly warm and welcoming during my trial, which put me at ease immediately. Ashley handled my hair, and she was so patient and attentive as we figured out the perfect style. She listened to my (admittedly vague) ideas and turned them into the most beautiful look for my big day. Mallory took care of makeup and was just as fantastic. None of us in the wedding party wear much makeup, and she created natural, elegant looks that made everyone feel beautiful and comfortable. She even charmed my 3-year-old flower girl by applying pretend makeup, which was such a sweet touch.
Both Ashley and Mallory became part of our getting-ready party, blending seamlessly into the morning and helping everything run smoothly. Their warmth, professionalism, and talent made the day even more special.

The best makeup and hair!!!
Russell and team did my bridal makeup and hair for our September 2024 wedding. Russell is so talented in his makeup work, I’ve never felt more beautifully myself. Also to mention, I had 2 trials with him beforehand for my engagement photos and bridal shower. I’ve loved my makeup everytime! Mariah is the best at hair! Russell was amazing in every way possible! He is such a kind, and funny guy who made the entire bride/make up experience wonderful and light! He has so much energy and kept us laughing all day!

Exceptional
Russell came highly recommend to me by my wonderful and talented bridal hair stylist Katie McGee. Knowing her talent and her standards, I had no doubt that Russell was going to be exceptional. It was when Russell told me 'my goal is to enhance your natural beauty' that I knew I wanted him to be my 'makeup man' for my wedding. I had a vision to look like my natural self so this comment just resonated with me. I was soon to find out that I struck gold with Russell.
I began working with Nicole to book my trial and makeup services for myself, my bridesmaids, MOB and MOG. She was so responsive, flexible and professional, especially with my ever changing requests. Russell then took over with scheduling and communication and continued to stay so responsive, organized, and professional as he put so much energy into learning about me and my vision.
Fast forward to my trial, lets just say it was one great experience. Russell explained EVERYTHING to me... what he was doing, the reason for the way he was doing things, the reason for the colors he was picking. He also educated me on makeup application and skin care so that I could enhance my own day-to-day routine (which needed a tune-up). Russell also made my trial so personable and I felt like part of his family the second I walked in with his warm welcome. Russell made it obvious my face wasn't just another palate for the day. Russell took his time to get to know me as a whole person and then moved on to learning my vision for my makeup. Lets just say I left my trial that day speechless because my makeup has never looked so good. The icing on the cake; I was just an enhanced version of myself.
Between my trial and wedding day, Russell continued communication and check-ins which showed me the preparation and energy he was putting in to make my special day even more special.
Wedding day came and so did Russell's birthday. Yes everyone, Russell gave up HIS special day for me - what an absolute honor! Russell and one of his team members Hitomi truly enhanced the beauty of all 10 of us ladies. Even with 10 ladies, they completed everyone's makeup timely and we never felt rushed. Russell also brought SO much energy, enthusiasm, and just added so much fun to the morning.
Now lets talk about how our makeup not only stayed on, but looked fresh and flawless ALL day long. I even got pictures in the rain, we all broke more than just a small sweat on the dance floor, and the makeup.... looked flawless all....night..... long! And let me note how light the makeup felt that you even forgot you had makeup on!
Not only does Russell have such an amazing talent, but it is so obvious he is so passionate, dedicated, and loves what he does. He cares about each and every one of his clients as a person, and takes the time to make for a personable experience. It is so obvious that Russell is also such a family guy which spoke even more volume to me about his amazing personality.

You will not regret hiring Russel!
If you aren’t sure and overwhelmed with looking for all of your vendors make your life easier and book Russell for your makeup!!!!! He did my friends wedding and she looked stunning which is how I got the contact to reach out! My wedding was on the eastern shore his pricing for travel was very very reasonable and he was just such a pleasure to work with from the trial run to the day of, I couldn’t recommend him more! He had me and all of my bridesmaids cracking up the whole morning, the way he makes the moms feel special too just melted my heart and made my moms day! His second makeup artist was very talented as well! They bring their own chairs and tables so all you have to provide is space which makes it so easy! I cannot stress enough how amazing Russell and his team were for both my trial and my wedding day. Their organization and efficiency brought such a calm to the day. The one thing I didn’t have to worry about on the wedding day! The skills of the makeup and hair team were phenomenal. Russell, Mariah, Ashley, Natalia delivered on all 11 of my bridal party’s expectations for both services. The kindness and love they put into their work makes you feel like family. They even accommodated my flower girls with sensory issues to make sure they felt comfortable. I would 100% recommend them and cannot wait to use them in the future for any makeup/hair needs. When looking for hair/makeup, my first search was on wedding wire. 1makeupman was the first to pop up, and after looking at his profile, I recognized Russell as someone I used to work with. I knew immediately I wanted to hire him because I was already aware of his skills and the reviews were glowing. Russell and his team were truely a dream to work with. They made the whole experience relaxing and fun, from my trial to the actual wedding day. I even asked Russell to explain what he was doing, as I’m not the best with my makeup, and he did. I would definitely recommend him and his team, Madison (hair) and Visare (makeup) for your wedding needs. They are efficient and do a very good job. You will not be disappointed! I loved working with 1Makeupman they were perfectionists in what they do and it was so nice to be able to relax while they did hair and makeup on myself and the bridal party. I found out about them after looking through reviews and found that they had done a classmates of mine hair and makeup for her special day and I saw how lovely she looked - I said this is the team for me!
I had Jessie do my makeup (and help me with my contacts!) and the look was all natural and I kept getting compliments since I never wear makeup and I didn't want to look like I was someone else or wearing a mask. He did such a great job. Nicole was the one to do my hair and I absolutely loved it - I had ordered a pin and veil in my hair and everything went together flawlessly!1makeupman's reply:

Best and easiest decision I made for my wedding!
I heard about Russell from my sister who got her makeup done from him for a wedding. I looked him up and was very impressed. She said he is so friendly, makes it fun, and does a great job. She was correct! I reached out to Russell praying he was available for my wedding and fortunately he was.
From the beginning he was very friendly and responsive. He answered all of my questions and made sure to really work with me. During my makeup trail, he makes you feel so comfortable and will have you laughing the entire time. I showed him a picture of the look I wanted and he made it possible! Nicole who handles the bookings is so very sweet and very accommodating. I felt terrible because I kept making changes to my invoice and she was extremely patient and never made me feel bad for my indecisiveness.
The day of the wedding, Russell showed up with his team. He had everything with him - table, chairs, lights and got right to work. He had me and my bridal party laughing the whole time. He kept the morning very light and fun. All of our makeup looked stunning. It was such a smooth process and he really got the wedding day started on such a positive note. Russell is such a down to earth, silly, incredibly talented person! His team was so great. They came on time the day of my wedding and set everything up so quickly. Russell and Hitomi were able to get all 10 girls including me done in great timing! Not only does Russell do an amazing job with makeup application but he educates you while you’re in his chair. During my makeup trial he informed me about all the ‘dos and donts’ when it comes to taking care of my skin before the wedding. I listened and took in everything that he said and on my wedding day my skin never looked better. The makeup laid on my face beautifully. I felt so confident. Russell joked around with my bridesmaids, and we had such a great time with him. He makes getting ready FUN and enjoyable. Russell and his team provided the best wedding day makeup services I could have imagined. He and Hitomi were rays of sunshine on a hectic morning. Their upbeat playlist and jokes kept my girls smiling and laughing all morning. Russell made everyone feel comfortable and happy and was key in keeping our morning schedule on track as well. He and Hitomi are true artists - everyone was in awe of their makeup. Everyone's natural beauty was enhanced and the makeup looked fabulous in photos. He was also extremely flexible - he was able to do light makeup for two flower girls and a few touchups for the groom with zero notice on my wedding day. Russell was the very first vendor I booked for our wedding (more than a year out). I met Russell years ago and ever since then, I knew I wanted him to do my makeup for our wedding day. Russell has an amazing way of applying makeup so it looks natural, but dramatic enough for pictures. You feel like yourself, but just an elevated version. We had the pleasure of not only working with Russell, but also Hitomi on our big day, and I cannot say enough good things about the both of them. They both do an absolutely beautiful job with makeup application, and they also bring so much more. Russell and Hitomi created a fun, calm, and positive environment for me, my bridesmaids, and my mom and mother-in-law. It's so important to surround yourself with positivity while you're getting ready, and they provided just that. Russell and Hitomi calmed the nerves I had throughout the day and kept me laughing. I can't wait to hire them again for another event, and several of my bridesmaids already plan to hire them in the future too. Russell’s Team is the Best!
Russell’s team of Mac trained artists will absolutely make you look your best, using color theory and top-of-the-line products. Madison did my wedding look exactly how I wanted, and it felt like I wasn’t even wearing anything! She is so sweet and makes you feel so beautiful. She picked out the perfect lipstick for my special day and gifted it to me so I could touch up. It’s now my fave and I wear it all the time. We had such a great dance party at my wedding and stayed up till the early hours…when I woke just in time for my farewell brunch, my makeup still looked fabulous! I just touched it up and went. Jessie was our other artist for getting my bridal party and family ready, and he was equally fabulous to work with. Everyone looked amazing, especially my hot, 63-year-old mom!

Finding Russell truly elevated my wedding day on so many levels. Not only is he an amazingly talented and experienced makeup artist, but he has the best personality. He has a way of keeping everyone relaxed, smiling, laughing and gives of himself exactly what is needed in the moment. From the trial to the day of, he was professional and kind, always putting 100% into his work and achieving your vision. Every single one of my ladies who got their makeup done were so impressed (and many of us have been in a lot of weddings). My mom who doesn’t wear anything but mascara felt stunning and looked gorgeous! Finding an artist who can cater to all ages and makeup comfort levels is hard to do. Days later I had bridesmaids telling me how amazing they felt that day, which is what I wanted for my bridal party. As the bride, after finishing my makeup, Russell allowed me the time to take in the look and got pictures of my and my mom, which was so sweet! It’s so easy to be rushed to the next thing, and his advice to be in each and every moment and let go of what comes next was the best advice I could’ve received. My makeup was done at 12:30 and at 10:30 that night after it was over, I was still having my husband take photos because my makeup was still looking amazing! Cannot thank Russell enough. I am so happy that we went with 1makeupman - it seriously was the best decision. My husband and I decided to throw a small home wedding last minute, Russell was responsive and flexible, agreeing to do hair and makeup for me, my friends, and my mom only a few days before the event. The day of, Madison arrived to our home and was an ABSOLUTE pleasure. Not only did this woman get to our house before the sun came out (I was a zombie, she was radiant!), walk into my pitch black house like a champ (my mom didn’t turn on any lights - she had one job) - but most importantly, she helped make the whole morning light. She was funny and communicative and felt like part of the squad. Her skills were definitely highlighted in our hair and makeup - not a single complaint all around. Honestly, I have never felt as pretty as I did after Madison finished. My husband is not a fan of makeup, and Madison did a phenomenal job at finding the balance between glam and natural. Usually my husband runs at the sight of lipstick, but at our wedding, he did the exact opposite, willingly 🤣! Long story short - this team is worth every single penny and so much more! My husband and I are having a reception/celebration next year - and I 100% will be having them be apart of the day if they are willing ❤️🥰 -

Working with Russell and his team was so easy! They provided everything and were a dream to work with.
Let me tell you, I had makeup and hair trials with so many people it’s not even funny. I spent a small fortune trying to find the perfect artists, then I came across 1MakeupMan. When I tell you he’s the best, I mean he’s the BEST!
He picked the perfect makeup and hair artist for me. And actually, the week of my wedding, the makeup artist that I had the trial with had an emergency and couldn’t make it to my wedding (I was stressed), and Russell found another artist who was available that last minute, and he was just as good, if not better than the first makeup artist.
I can’t even begin to describe how pleased I was with the services that were provided.
Both the makeup artist and hair stylist were down to earth and very personal, and gave each bridesmaid exactly the look that they wanted, and absolutely blew me away with how they made me look!
I 100% recommend using 1makeupman for occasion. -

Russell and team are worth it! They are very professional, friendly, and funny. I had hair and makeup service for myself and my 5 bridesmaids. We all loved our makeup! Hitomi is fabulous. I cannot say enough good things about Russell. Not only are his skills top of the line (he really knows what he is doing!!), his attitude is infectious, and he's just a person you want to be around. He's such a good sport too considering my dog nipped at his feet the entire time we were all jammed in my hotel room getting ready. I had a bad makeup experience when I was younger and I shared it with Russell, he was super sensitive to it and my makeup on my wedding day was EXACTLY what I wanted. AND it held up despite the heat. We also had junior bridesmaids and Russell's team did their makeup beautifully and completely age appropriate. They got everyone done on time and there was no rushing. Hands down he would be my number one choice, any bride would be lucky to have him on her team. THANK YOU! -
