  A Fantastic Band!!!

  17 South is an absolutely fabulous band! They played for our daughter's wedding and all of the guests had so much fun dancing to their amazing music-young and old!!!
  
  I could not have asked for a better band--they are extremely talented and very easy to work with throughout the wedding planning stages. Thank you 17 South for making this a magical night for our daughter!

  Outstanding Band!

  17 South was all that we expected and more! The music was spot on, and they kept the crowd entertained all night long. 17 South played the right mixture of music to entertain all ages. It was the perfect band for a perfect evening.

  The absolute best wedding/ event band I've ever heard! They kept all of the guests up on their feet from start to finish! Loved every minute, can't wait to hire them again!!!

  This band was phenomenal!!! We were told over and over again by many friends that this was one of the best weddings they ever attended!! 17 South is very versatile and had everyone up on the floor and dancing!! Thanks 17 South, for helping make this a perfect wedding!!!

  Wonderful musicians and very professional. Accommodated special requests for first dance songs and provided brass trio for the ceremony. Great range of music and a full 4 hours of live music for the reception. Loved the horns and vocalists. Only concern was due to my anxiousness in the 9+ months between the time of booking and the month of the wedding. Communication was slow from the band but they had it all well under control the whole time.

While they have a somewhat limited selection of music, what they play for the 4 hours or 6 hours of our wedding was excellent. They even surprised us by learning a new song just for us. We were able to have 17 South play a 3 piece set for dinner music and then have the whole band come in for the post-dinner dancing. It was great.

  Brides Beware!

  I will start by saying, the guests enjoyed the band, and their music. It was at Francis Marion Colonial Room (amazing reception hall).
  
  Brides beware - why such the low stars-
  The manager came over to me during the 2nd break and asked for their check, my maid of honor was upstairs feeding her newborn. Manager told me they will not play again until they get paid (did not respect that a newborn needed to be fed). The band took over a 30 minute break (per contract was suppose to only be 15 minutes). My maid of honor found the manager and 2 other band members just hanging out in the lobby, and she paid them.
  Come 11 PM end of reception, the manager, came over and put his hands on my (the bride's) shoulder and was yelling at me that he was never paid. I found my maid of honor (who was 100% sober) and she explained to him that she paid him, and he starts yelling at her. My maid of honor found the 2 band members he was with, and they both agreed that she gave him the check (and they found it in his suit jacket). The band members informed us that this always happens. I will say majority of the band took advantage of the open bar, and were overserved.
  
  As a bride this was 1 of the worst ways to end a fabulous wedding night, band manager hands on my shoulders and yelling at my maid of honor, all because he was so drunk and did not remember. I would not recommend this band as contract was broken, they drank a lot of the alcohol, and put hands on a bride, and raised their voices.

  17 SOUTH's reply:

  We are vert sorry the bride was not happy. The manager has hypogyicemia (low blood sugar) that flares up once in a great while, which it did this evening. When this happens he can get light headed and forgetful until he eats a candy bar or something sweet (which he did not have). As a result, he forgot payment of the check and was a little irritated since the agreement called for earlier payment. However, he apologized to the bride numerous times and only touched her gently on the arm as a show of sympathy and was in no way physically aggressive. The band agreed to play 45 minutes more than the contract stated for no extra charge, so we feel nobody was taken advantage of by the band in regards to time played or the bar bill, which we dispute. The band did take one 20-mintute break instead of a 15, however the band only took two breaks the entire evening and played 4 hours + the additional 40 minutes mentioned. Again, we are very sorry about the manager's lapse of good judgement. 17 SOUTH has played over 400 wedding receptions and has never received a bad review until now. We trust this kind of thing will not happen again. The band regrets this incident and wishes this couple the very best.
